hello there! i just wanted to ask, why you accepted that one anons request of adding ceyx in as a ro? the fact hes your step brother is...very concerning, but im willing to hear your reasoning.

I've gotten a lot of hate for this decision before so I'm going to try to explain myself as best I can here. This post is going to be long even without revealing in-game spoilers, so bear with me.

I first want to clarify that it was actually several people that requested Cexy be a love interest; y'all just didn't see every post at the time. He's a very popular character - in fact I think he's the most popular of all the romance options at this point - and a major part of the plot revolves around him, so it makes sense to have him be an RO for people who want major angst. His route is filled with angst.

I've also clarified before that Ceyx and the MC share no familial DNA whatsoever. The only thing that makes them "relatives" is a political marriage between Ceyx's mother and MC's father, who (SPOILER!) actually can't stand each other. In fact, historically speaking, several famous couples have had much closer familial ties to each other, from Queen Victoria marrying her first cousin Prince Albert to King Tut who was wed to his half-sister Ankhesenamun. Even Henry VIII of England encouraged a match between his eldest daughter Mary and his illegitimate son Henry FitzRoy, though this never happened. And don't get me started on the Spanish Habsburg dynasty.

At the time this game takes place, the Emperor of Rome is Nero, who's mother Agrippina the Younger had married her uncle, the previous Emperor Claudius. Such matches would not have been unusual back then and while there would have been gossip, nobody would have been scandalized. This is a historic fantasy, after all, so I have a lot of wiggle room even while keeping everything as true to history as I can.

I'm also going to reiterate that there will be an option at the start of the game to disable the romance with Ceyx and keep things platonic so nobody will be triggered.

Golden Throne of Tutankhamun. One of the most striking artifacts found in the burial chamber in 1922, Tutankhamen's "golden throne", dates back to around 1325 BC.

Displaying exquisite craftsmanship, the throne was made mainly of wood and was completely covered with a layer of pure gold. The throne, which also had partially silver parts, was decorated with semi-precious stones, glazed ceramics and colored glass. The feet of the throne, which was approximately 1 meter tall and wrapped in linen, were carved to resemble lion's feet.

An exemplary scene from Tutankhamen's life is seen on the front of the throne: Under the rays of the Aten, the young pharaoh is represented sitting in a comfortable position, while his wife Ankhesenamun is rubbing his shoulders with perfume. The pharaoh has a crown on his head and a thick necklace around his neck, and the queen has a beautiful wreath on her head. A gold bracelet is seen on both of their feet as a symbol of the engagement.

Here are a couple versions of the Pharaoh Tutankhamun with his sister Ankhesenamun who was also his wife and queen. Other regional powers were frustrated that the Egyptians usually refused to intermarry with other dynasties for the making of alliances. Somehow the Egyptians were too good to marry outside their own which made the Assyrians and Babylonians and Hittites feel like they were looked down on. But, it made perfect sense from the Egyptian perspective. The pharaohs were god kings. As a living deity on earth who is worthy for you to marry other than your own sister? That's what the gods did after all; they married their own brothers and sisters.

This must have made a special bond between brother and sister (I mean, obviously, beyond the getting married and making babies together bit). They were deities together on Earth among mortals. Only they could truly understand each other.

Contains chapters on two subjects I’ve been reading about recently: the ancient Library at Alexandria, and the city of Akhetaten built by the Pharaoh Akhenaten.

Akhenaten was formerly known as Amenhotep IV until he broke away from the worship of Amun-Ra and the rest of Egypt's pantheon of gods and changed his name in reverence to an obscure sun god, 'the Aten'. He founded his new city  (Akhetaten means 'the horizon of the Aten') away from the capital Thebes and moved there with his wife Queen Nefertiti, their children, their court and thousands of workers (slaves? - check) who carried out the construction work and maintenance. However, the lifespan of the city was less than two decades. . Today the area is known as Amarna.

Akhenaten was succeeded by his son, Tutankhamun, whose original name contained the ‘Aten’ tag: Tutankhaten. His wife, who was also his half-sister, followed suit, changing her name to Ankhesenamun ("Her Life Is of Amun") . They abandoned their father’s new religion and returned to Thebes. Tutankhamun reburied his father's remains in the Valley of the Kings, which is where his own tomb and famed golden mask were discovered in 1922 by British archaeologist, Howard Carter.

The story of Ankhesenamen is a tragic one - she was married off to her brother Tutankhamun as a child, and together they bore two children, both of whom died before or shortly after birth. Tutankhamun then died suddenly, leaving Ankhesenamen a young childless widow without an heir. It is not long after that she disappears from history altogether.

Ankhesenamun, meaning "Her Life is of Amun", at aged thirteen, married her half-brother Tutankhamun, becoming queen of the Eighteenth Dynasty of Egypt. When the young Pharaoh died, he left Ankhe alone without an heir in her early twenties. She continued in the official capacity as queen of Egypt and played a major role in finding a successor. It's not known where her body was placed upon her death, no funerary objects with her name are known to exist; this leaves the chance that her tomb is still somewhere out there, waiting to be found.
