I loved your Demetri fanfic! it was so bittersweet and well-written.
your bio says your requests are open? could I perhaps request one for Felix? feel free to let your creative juices flow, but something sweet and fluffy between him and his fem!mate?
Thanks lovely! x
Respectful Humming (Felix x fem!Reader)
The reader's appearance is not specified. She is shorter than Felix, though.
A/N: I let my creative juices 😉 flow for this one. Thanks a lot for this wonderful request. I hope you enjoy it, dear Anonymous. Still, I want to emphasize that I do not write sexual content about characters who are underage. I received a few requests for stuff like that, and I must say that I do not feel comfortable with writing those fics.
“That was a rather tedious trial,” Demetri remarked, carrying himself elegantly through the halls of the Volturi’s castle and putting any décor to shame. He was the most ornate décor to have ever existed anyway. The halls and rooms were lucky to have him. He was a statue created by Michelangelo.
“Indeed,” Felix replied, treading softly on the stone floor. Despite his gigantic size, he appeared to be levitating.
“I cannot quite fathom why Aro prolonged the trial unnecessarily.” Demetri turned right, heading toward the library.
“He was in a particularly bad mood today,” Felix explained monotonously. “You know how he can be. It has happened before. He really wanted to see that poor excuse of a vampire suffer.”
Demetri shrugged nonchalantly. “It shall not concern me.” As he and Felix entered the library, he added, “At least Jane and Alec got their fun out of it.”
“Exactly.” Felix's eyes scanned the bookshelves and sitting areas worriedly for your form. You had promised you would be here to await him after the end of the trial. But you were nowhere in sight. “The twins are satisfied for now, and they are unlikely to cause mayhem. Although that is never a guarantee.”
Feeling a heavy weight on his chest, Felix stopped in his track. Standing in the middle of the library, he crossed his arms and used his sensitive ears to locate you. However, neither your heartbeat nor the even sound of your breath seemed to be dwelling in the castle. That was bad. Panic seized him. The world of vampires was wicked and cruel. Had a newborn taken you? Or worse, had one of his ancient enemies broken inside the castle and humannapped you?  For vampires, the worst possible punishment was to lose a mate.
A mate for a mate.
Keeping his composure, Felix looked at Demetri, who had sat down at a chess board opposite Heidi. They were flirting ferociously, and although they had been doing this for centuries, they always found new hollow phrases and sweet compliments to charm each other. Their friendship was real, but everyone knew where the two of them would end up. It was the reason why some wished for soundproof rooms. However, the Kings were against such an installment because to run the coven smoothly, their senses needed to have access everywhere at any given time. Traitors, raging newborns, enemies… None of them could have the opportunity to hurt the Volturi’s integrity.
“So, if I win, how about the whole night this time?” Demetri organized the chess pieces.
“First, honey, you have to win. Last time I beat you. And how about you start to become more creative. We have done that so many times already.” Heidi giggled sensually. Her flirting was always of the dominant kind. She never behaved submissively. Tilting her head to expose her neck was something she would never do. You had to accept her as the strong woman she was.
“Hey, Demetri,” Felix called out. “Do you know where (Y/N) is?”
The vampire shrugged. Clearly, he was uninterested. “I don’t know. If she is not here, she is somewhere else.” A cloud fell over the tracker’s face. “It is a pity that I cannot sense her tenor. But her immunity to gifts is the reason why Aro allowed you to keep her in the first place.”
A deep growl rumbled through Felix's chest. Demetri ignored his obvious anger, and the giant walked out of the room, seething. He hated the way Demetri and the others talked about you. Like you were a pet only kept for his amusement. Admittedly, vampires mainly see humans as food, and thus, it is most difficult to establish respectful relationships between humans and vampires. Still, Felix would not allow the others to look down on you. At least not in your presence. He ignored slighting remarks when you were not in the same room, knowing that those would be uttered behind his back anyway.
Anxiously, Felix hurried out of the castle. It was a cloudy day, and the sun was already setting. He didn’t need his cloak. After wandering around for a while and searching for your familiar heartbeat, he found you sitting on a low wall, overlooking the fields and trees expanding in the distance.
Relieved, Felix sighed. He felt like he was reborn into a human, only to be turned into a vampire again. He was so glad to see you were alright. He came to stand behind you and embraced you lovingly. Unperturbed, you continued to hum softly, dangling your legs in the air.
“I thought you wanted to meet in the library,” Felix whispered against the shell of your ear. He had to lean down to accomplish this feat of affection since you were shorter than him. Your head, although you were sitting on a raised wall, did not even reach his chin.
“I thought so, too. I had been in the library. But Chelsea and Renata came in, and they were not so kind.”
“What did they do? Did they say something hurtful?” Felix placed soft kisses on your head.
You shook your head. “That is between me and them. I won’t tell you. Also, as I have mentioned before, I can solve my own conflicts. If I want the others to respect me, I cannot let you fight my battles for me. Otherwise, they will not take me seriously.”
Oh, strong, cute you…
Felix picked you up bridal-style, turned you around, and sat you back down. Now you were facing him. His big hands caressed your shoulders. “I know. You have told me that a lot. More than you should have to.” He was obnoxiously protective of you. So much so that at the beginning of your life in Volterra, he tried to shelter you from the others, seeking out confrontations to solve your arguments. For him, this was not about protecting your pride or dignity or anything. Just that he could not allow others to pick a fight with you. However, it quickly turned out that you were the real menace. You did not back down from any conflicts, and if you were facing heavy provocations, you would unleash witty remarks of your own.
“By the way,” Felix began, “I love that you are not frightened anymore when I approach you.”
You laughed amusedly. “Right, if you had hugged me from behind two months ago, I would have jumped.” A cheeky grin was plastered on your face. You got up, standing on the wall. Felix grabbed you by your hips to stabilize you. Emotionally and physically, he gave you equanimity and equilibrium. “Look. I am taller than you are now.”
“Barely. I am not sure that counts.”
“Yes, it does. Even if it’s only a centimeter, Felix.” You rolled your eyes playfully. Then, your gaze became serious. “I was really afraid of you until we reached a certain level of trust. Now, it is like I can almost feel when you are around. I do not need to see you to have that feeling. A special kind of security shrouds my body and mind when you are near. Just now, as I was humming to myself, I felt that you were close and searching for me.”
Hmm… Was that an early manifestation of your gift? “You are wonderful. Do you know that?” Felix pulled you in by your waist.
“Of course, I do. You tell me every day.” With a big smile on your face, it was you this time who leant down to kiss him.

Drunk (Alec Volturi x reader)
Tumblr media
Masterlist
Description: Before being changed you really want to go out one last time.
1780 words
„Isn’t that dress a little short?“, Alec looked at your form critically and an unhappy frown made its way onto his face. „No love, that’s what people wear these days at parties“, you giggled and let him pull you into his arms. „I don’t like it“, he grumbled under his breath, his fingers tracing the end of your dress just under your butt. „So you’re telling me you don’t think I look pretty?“, you pouted and his eyes snapped from your low neckline to your eyes. You were sure if he could blush he would’ve. „No, you look absolutely ravishing, but I’m surely not the only one to notice“, he said with an edge in his voice. „You’re the only one who gets to take it off of me though“, you blushed a little at your own boldness, making him smile, „and don’t worry, Heidi and Renata are with me.“
„Just be careful alright?“, Alec softly stroked your cheek and you smiled at him innocently. „Of course, I love you!“, you reassured him and kissed him goodbye before he could change his mind. You were only going to be human for a few more months and you wanted to go out clubbing one last time before being turned. After pestering Alec for days he finally agreed, Heidi and Renata quickly volunteering to go with you. You had asked Jane too, but she just looked at you as if you’d grown a second head.
So you got ready, put on your favorite dress and now you were out the door to meet the other two at the door. What Alec didn’t know (but the girls did) was that you were planning to get drunk one last time too, making this a real and memorable last party night. Not that you were planning on getting blackout drunk, just a little buzz.
————————
You stumbled over your own feet a little when you made your way to Renata who was sitting at the bar. Heidi was still dancing, but you needed a break. You were a little worried that the two of them wouldn’t like the music or something, but they fit right in and seemed to have fun. You were definitely having fun, especially after the Tequilas and Margeritas you already had. You really forgot how exciting it is to go out clubbing with your friends.
A few hours later (it was already about four in the morning) and you three finally had enough, so you made your way home. The club was about twenty minutes away from the castle, so you strolled through the empty dark streets of Volterra, occasionally stumbling over other people on their way home.
„So you need to explain to me tomorrow why exactly it is fun for humans to get drunk“, Heidi laughed after you stumbled over the cobblestone yet again. „It’s…I don’t know, you just let loose and you’re not as…hey look, there’s a cat!“, you squealed the end and walked over to the cat that was sitting on the small wall infront of a house.
After about five minutes Renata and Heidi were finally able to convince you to go home, eventhough the cat was clearly enjoying all the attention so you didn’t really understand why. „Do you think Alec will let me get a cat?“, you wondered as you three rounded the last corner before arriving at the castle. „You should ask him“, Renata told you while Heidi opened the door and you walked in.
„Come one, we’ll go to your room so you can ask him right away!“, Heidi grinned and led you up the stairs. Halfway through the second floor corridor you encountered Felix and Demetri. „Oh, if it isn’t our party group“, Demetri laughed and Felix couldn’t help the grin making its way onto his face.
„Oh I’m so glad we met you! In need your opinion: Do you think Alec will let me get a cat?“, you whispered and stumbled forward, Demetri catching you before you could fall. „Woah there, dancing wasn’t the only thing you were doing tonight hm?“, he completely ignored your question. „You let the little human get drunk?“, Felix laughed loudly this time, „Oh this it too good!“
„Hey!“, you pouted at him, „I’m not that drunk!“ „Ah come on, we had to let her have some fun tonight, once she’s turned she can’t get drunk anymore“, Heidi dismissed them and pulled you along. „Good luck explaining that to Alec!“, Demetri called from behind you and you could hear them laughing even when you entered the staircase.
You entered the third floor where yours and Alec’s room was located and you just passed Janes door when it happened. You were distracted by the spiderweb on the ceiling and tripped over the end of the carpet, Heidi and Renata too surprised to catch you and so you fell right onto the stonefloor of the castle. Knees first. Before you could fall over and additionally scratch your hands Heidi reacted and caught you.
„Oh shit“, was the only thing Renata said, but you brushed Heidi off and got up. It didn’t even hurt that bad. „It’s alright, doesn’t even hurt don’t worry“, you tried to calm them down, not really grasping why they looked so horrified. „Why the hell are you bleeding?“, came a deep voice from behind you, which you immediately recognized as Alec.
„I’m not-“, you started to protest but looked down at your knees to see that you actually were bleeding a little. „Oh“, you added unintelligently and looked up to see the fear in Heidi and Renatas faces. „It’s not that bad, I just…uhm I stumbled over the carpet I think“, your drunk self wasn’t really helping right now.
„Are you…are you drunk?“, Jane was standing next to Heidi and Renata now and had to suppress an amused grin. „Uh…no“, you said, and god damn why couldn’t your brain speed it up a little. Alec was now standing next to you looking you up and down. „Why is she drunk?“, he asked, clearly addressing Renata and Heidi but not taking his gaze of your knees. Before they could answer your brain seemed to finally be able to think again.
„Alec it’s not their fault, I just wanted to have a last real night out before changing“, you softly told him, your hand on his shoulder but his stern look didn’t really fade. Before you could react he picked you up bridal style and sped into your room, slamming the door. „Oh please don’t do this“, you whined your hand clawing at his shoulder, „you’re going to make me throw up.“
Alec just gave you the silent treatment and sat you down on the vanity in the bathroom, cleaning out the small wounds on your knees and putting Band-Aids on. „Don’t be mad“, you whispered stroking his hair when he put the second one on. „Why would you do that?! Imagine if you fell on the lower guard floor where some of the younger vampires live! Heidi and Renata couldn’t have held them all back!“, Alec’s anger was practically tangible in the air.
You shrank back a little, your drunk self feeling emotions even more than your normal one. „I’m sorry“, you whispered and your eyes started to water involuntarily. At the sight of your wet eyes Alec just sighed, head tilting back and eyes closing for a moment. He seemed to gather himself before stepping up to you again, your legs spreading a little when he stepped between them.
„It’s just…I could have lost you“, he said quietly gripping your thighs. „It’s alright, I’m sorry“, you sighed, your hands making their way around his neck. After a few moments of you two silently enjoying her others presence, Alec picked you up, your legs automatically crossing behind his back. „We should get you to bed“, he said, letting you down on the bed and pulling out some pajamas. „I never told you that, but you picking me up like that is so hot“, you whispered but knew that he could hear you. „I’ll use that information to my advantage“, he grinned as he came over again with your clothes.
—————————
Waking up the next day, you remembered why alcohol wasn’t always that fun. Your head was thumping with the worst headache and your stomach felt a little sensitive even if you hadn’t moved yet. You carefully turned around hoping to find some water, your mouth feeling like sandpaper. „Good morning love“, Alecs voice came from your right. „Not so loud“, you whispered holding your head and slowly sitting up.
You carefully opened your eyes and immediately grabbed the water bottle on your nightstand. „Do we have any pain killers?“, you asked after drinking some of the water and Alec seemed to have been ready for that question, because he handed you some right away. „Thanks“, you whispered still not really present.
„I have to go in a few minutes there’s a trial do you think you’ll be okay?“, he asked and at least had a sympathetic smile on his face at the sight of you discomfort. „Yeah sure I’ll sleep a little longer“, you tried to smile and squeezed his hand before laying back down and turning over.
A few hours later you woke up a second time already feeling a bit better. Alec was still not back so you downed the rest of your water bottle and decided you have to get something to eat now. After brushing your teeth and skincare, you threw on a pair of sweatpants and a hoodie and made your way to the kitchen. You were really hoping you wouldn’t encounter anybody, you were sure they would find great amusement in your suffering.
Your hopes were shattered though, because just before you could enter the kitchen on the second floor, you heard Demetri’s voice behind you. „Ah my ears weren’t deceiving me, it is our favorite little human“, he smirked standing next to you, „how are you feeling?“ „Okay“, you rolled your eyes, entering the kitchen.
He sat down at the table and as if on cue Heidi entered too. „Good Morning“, she grinned, „or should I say good afternoon?“ Both her and Demetri had to laugh at that. „Ha ha“, was your only reaction, their laughs making your headache flare up again. „So did you ask Alec about the cat?“, a third voice asked while you poured milk into your cereal. Cat?
„I don’t think she remembers that“, Heidi laughed, Renata and Demetri joining her. „Could you three keep it down please?“ you muttered, sitting down at the table too. That only made them laugh even louder.

Anyone ever had Tumblr just not show the content they tagged?
I just posted the Volturi one-shot fic I mentioned working on about a month ago here, and I gave it all the appropriate tags but its not showing up anywhere. The post has very few views and I know that's not normal. Do you think it could be length? Should I break it up in to separate posts to see if that helps?

Hi darling!
Can I request a poly!volturi kings x fem!reader where the kings don't have time to spend time with the reader but she really needs them. So jane and alec (which the reader is close to) have to tell the kings that they are needed.
Hello sweetie. ❤ I hope you will like it.
You were not selfish. You knew who they were and how important their mission was. But didn't they even have five minutes to spare for their precious wives? As you repeat this question in your mind, your heart begins to break. You also started to spend your time with the guards. You used to make up with Jane, comb and braid your hair. She used to show you her newly bought porcelain dolls. Alec shows you the pictures he made. He was painting you. Felix and Demetri were spending time playing virtual games. You were having girl talk with Renata, Corin, Heidi and Chelsea. Afton and Santiago were helping you with the plants in the garden. Soon your husbands realized that you were no longer spending time with them and you were not striving for it. While they were all in the throne room, the subject was brought up by Aro.
"Our precious wife is moving away from us."
"Aro is right about that. What's wrong with him?"
While Marcus wanted to say something, Jane started to speak.
"She's heartbroken because you don't want to spend time with her. She's trying to heal her heart by spending time with us rather than begging you."
The kings were both surprised and worried when they saw how angry the twins were. When you came to the throne room, Marcus noticed that your golden bonds against them had faded.
"Dear wife. We heard there are some problems."
"No problem. I overcame the problem myself."
"So by getting away from us?"
"You have no idea how it feels to have so-called soul mates who don't even have five minutes to spare for you, Caius. I'm not selfish. I understand if you don't have time for me. And I spend time with friends who want to spend time with me."
"Honey, we love you."
"Love is not just words, Aro. Love is proved by demonstrations. In fact, I have no faith in these strings anymore. I don't even trust the ones you really love anymore."
If they had asked the Kings what was the heaviest physical and emotional blow they have taken in their lifetime, their answer would have been the day you said those words to them. Even if the Kings wanted to spend time with you in the coming days, you stayed away from them. Finally, Caius lost his patience and yelled at you.
"Smug. We are your Kings. You can't disrespect us. You won't turn down our love."
Tears began to flow from your eyes with meaning at these words. The guards were so enraged. You left the throne room and went to an unused room. Curled under the covers, you never went out until evening. Jane and Alec brought you dinner.
"I'd pull out her barbie hair one by one if I could. You're the most perfect person I've ever met in my life. Please don't let any idiot's words hurt you."
"Jane is right."
In a short time, other guards came and joined you. They were all trying to lift your spirits.
"Honestly, I may be unfortunate with a soul mate. But I'm very lucky to have good friends like you."
You had decided to go out into the garden when it was midnight after they had left. You were sitting on the bench by the water fountain and looking at the sky. The kings came to you very sad and embarrassed.
"Can we come dear?"
"Why do you ask for permission? As the king, everything belongs to you."
"I didn't mean to say it like that. I was very angry."
"You don't need to fall in love, King. You have the right to do anything."
"Aro, please forgive Caius and me, honey. Believe me, we're in pain. We feel all your feelings, too."
"Marcus is right. It really hurts."
"I don't believe it. I'm actually stupid enough to think you love me. I was foolish enough to believe that a tyrant like you, especially Cauis, would."
"Please don't say that."
"I don't believe any of you anymore. I don't have good feelings for you anymore. I want to go."
Aro knelt before you and held your hands.
"You don't know what to do without reading my mind."
Aro's hands pushed off and you stood up. A few days passed after this speech. The mood of the kings was in a very bad state. While you were lying on your bed in your room, the Kings had arrived. You ignored them by turning your face the other way. Aro was on your right, Marcus on your left, and Caius between your legs. After five quiet minutes, you noticed that your body and emotions were starting to heal.
"I don't know if I can forgive you."
"Trying will be enough for us."
"I'll do my best."
Now the Kings, or at least one of them, were spending time with you on a daily basis. Although it took a few months for your forgiveness, your bonds were stronger than before. This was a lesson that the Kings would never forget.

Hi darling 💖
Can I request a poly!volturi kings x fem!reader where the kings don't have time to spend time with the reader but she really needs them. So jane and alec (which the reader is close to) have to tell the kings that they are needed.
(Some angst please🥲)
there was never not a time where they were not with her. never not a time they were not with you. their mate, their queen.
but recently, it seemed that never meant frequently. because it seemed, they were always not with you.
had you not known better you wouldve assumed they were avoiding you. but you did know better.
every throne room visit, you saw demetri standing by the burner, finishing the vampire off. "sorry, my queenliness, theyve just left."
every visit to the king' chambers, where you saw renata. "my apologies, queen, aro has just left for a meeting." her formal voice would say.
every visit to the library, frantic eyes pacing around trying to find him. trying to find them. and you'd see felix, in all his buff strength shake his head at you. and that was al that needed to be seen because you'd turn your body around, shaking with silent sobs as you pattered out the library like a child.
soft steps. you'd approach the art studio where the twin's would usually guard. "condolence, my queen, king caius has just left for the day, headed to town for more supplies." alec would say as jane would observe. observe the way your shoulders slumped, your tired eyes would scan alec's.
you'd turn, slowly loosing energy from all the running you had done to find your mates.
the witch twins would share a glance, both worried for the quèen' safety; for your health. and they would speed to marcus' chambers, where he would be reading, reading on what? no one knew. but reading.
"its the queen." one would startle.
"she's doing horrible," another one spoke.
and he would turn, would look at them with sorrow in his eyes. "call upon my brothers, caius is back."
and the three would joice together in their meeting room.
"she has not been doing well, the guards report."
"but we must distance. we all know this brothers. the mate bond is fresh, she will become anxious without us if we do not hold out longer." aro spoke.
caius would slam his hands down on the table as he stood, lips peeling back to a snarl. "its already happened!"
but aro would shake his head, and go back to studying old scripts.
and then the pain came. a wave of emotion throwing your off blance. so hard you collapse onto the white furry rug you had in you room. head hit the floor. cries, crying as you toss over and your head is thrown back, anguish in your face.
"no!" you sob. pain so deep it's unbearable. like a thousand swords stabbing your every body part.
and a slam. the door slams open and someone is by your side, cradling you into theirs. and you feel relief as blurry eyes look up. its caius, his red eyes focused on a figure and he hisses, snarling like a wild animal.
"i told you." his words are hissed, thrown into the air of guilt surrounding your raven-head mate.

Headcannon for being their mate
Reader (GN) x The guard
Characters: Felix, Demetri, Heidi, Renata, Jane and Alec.
Jane and Alec are aged up to 20+
Felix
No matter your height, this gladiator will always tower over, OH does he tease and remind you of this fact on a daily basis? YES, HE DOES.
As his mate you're most likely a member of the Guard or a recruit.
Felix is a fiercely loyal vampire and will have your back as well as protect it as long as he can trust you too.
He is a whirl wind of energy and excitement that will whip around the corridors of the castle but he'll always be content to snuggle into your arms.
You'll probably have to lay ONTOP of him due his muscular frame that you will literally disappear into.
He is also quite NOT subtly telegraphic in his emotions and moods so you will always most likely to see what mood he is in. Eg: broody, happy or agitated.
Felix and his best friend Demetri as well as their designated babysitter (per the courtesy of Caius) Heidi are a complete package deal. So if you get him, you get the selvte tracker and their glamorous mom friend who will adore you.
Demetri
This man is the declared Casanova of the vampire world, he specialises in flirtation, espionagee of all and the tracking of criminals.
However, when it comes to YOU, is mate, he is completely dumbfounded and spulltering in his usual controlled words
Demetri appears as a neat and an incontrol individual, but underneath this facade he is actually panicking.
He is afraid of disappointing you and his masters, so he will stress himself to satisfy you.
But, once his besties Fee and Heidi assure him that he is doing well after they converse with you, he will settle down and slowly slip in love with you.
Again, he is another fiercely loyal individual, he will listen to you as he knows that being an ear is often a better solution. He adores you and will happily shred another to protect you.
Demetri will be in content glee if you'd let him braid your hair as he is quite the gifted man. And will happily get massages and face treatments with you as he is the Guard who spends the most money of his appearance, maybe even more than Aro.
Heidi
This little queen is the assigned baby sitter of her idiots, Demetri and Felix. She's quite the busy bee when it comes her role of fisher and being bait, she also organises the 'tours' as well.
When she first met you, she was rattling out long scolding strings of German to her 'children' who misbehaved during your recruitment to be a guard.
When she turned around after her scolding her she was met with you, her MATE.
Heidi was the first face of the Guard that you had met, she immediately took you under her wing and helped you relax into the Guard.
She is quite laid back when it came to affection in the castle and in your shared room, she prefers the gentle peck on her forehead to a deep, make out session. Cuddles wise, she would hold your hand and play with your hair, but she isn't the biggest fan of being limited in movement due to her past.
Loyal to the grave and would trust you with her idiots that would become your go-to-besties.
Date wise, she would take you out for a calm walk at night then dinner (if your human). But she would be just as content to go book shopping or laze around the castle with you.
Fluff wise, she would read to you or sit next and watch a film with her mate. She is quite the indulgent Missy when it comes to skin care, despite not needing it, and will partake in it with you. Heidi would also write poems about you and the weather, she'd leave them lying around for you but won't tell she has
Renata
Our little ray of sunshine is quite the adorable little lady standing at a tiny height of 5'1".
Despite Renata's height she is fully capable of defeating Felix (*cough cough* per the courtesy of Atheneodora), in a wide range of martial arts, she is even a active member of the online combat community. Knowing this, you should know that you will be protected by the Maltese woman, via her shield and her combat abilities.
She'll teach you how to counteract attacks from herself and towering giants that name themselves Felix and Santiago.
This little warrior is also apart of branch off the 'Protect Felix and Demetri Club.'
She would take you out on dates in musmems and historic cities and will take you to any country of your choice.
Renata LOVES snuggles from you, her mate. Although, being the cold blooded vampire she is, she is somehow always warm, rumors have it is that she places two hot water bottles under her cloak and jumper so you can still be nice and toasty.
A daily occurrence with our shield is that she will prune and tend to her large range of plants, some poisonous per the guidance of Sulpicia. She'd fall even more in love if you were to join her and smile all the while.
Jane
This little deadly princess of the Guard as you know is rather preferable in the company of her twin, Alec. So if you were to meet Jane, you most likely get a Alec joining you.
As she grows towards you over time, Jane will begin to fall in love with your little isms and habits... Then eventually you.
After spending centuries being surrounded by torture, death and glowering expectation from Aro she has become desensitisated to lowered emotions and screams.
You'd have to eventually help her lower her walls as she would definitely struggle with this due to being condemed and betrayed by her village. Jane may lock you out of her head for a time to cope, but eventually she'll open up.
Very much like Heidi, she'd prefer to have small signs of affection from you and from her to you, hugs and snuggles are a rare occurrence for her as she doesn't the aspect of being physically constricted as you know why. Pecks are the most common form from her, holding hands she will only do with you and Alec.
Jane would introduce you to her best friend, Revani, her pet raven.
Dates are most likely rare too, due to her tight misson schedule and the fear of disappointment from Aro, but she would take you with her.
Alec
Just like with Jane, you get one twin you get the other.
Unlike his twin sister, he is a lot more open to affection with you. He would rather have you in his arms then him in yours, but he is open to try.
Unlike his sister, he isn't as quite non-social, he sees the female Guards such as Heidi and Atheneodora as motherly figures and Renata and Chelsea as his other 'sisters,' he looks up at Demetri as a role model and Felix as his big bro.
With you, he'll be more then happy to cancel trials and missions to indulge in dates with you and show you off.
Alec would also be very open to learning about 'human things' but would mock them them shut up aguweua glare from you.
Just like his 'brother' Felix, he likes to tease and poke at you but just like his sister, he has become desensitisated to a lot.
Emotions, however, he has not. He would hold you and comfort you to the best of his ability, even going as far to ask Marcus, his favourite, of how to.
One thing he wouldn't be able to do for you would be attending a bonfire event or fireworks, as it would drag him back to his death after locking that memory away.

I loved your headcanons about Renata. I don't mind which style of writing you choose whether it be headcanons, imagine, whatever. Could you do something with her and a mate/friend that is extremely invested in modern psychology pls?
I am so very sorry for taking so long to respond dove :( i hope you like it <33
I used f!reader, but i absolutely don't mind changing it if anyone wants a m! or gn!reader

Renata's mate grew up in Austria, born in 1875, around the time Sigmund Freud began appearing more in the newspaper.
She flipped through the newspapers, reading his latest theory. She found it truly interesting, the ability to not only understand her own mind more- but others. It was almost unchartered territory, but due to the current social inequalities and expectations, a woman of her own class, the bourgeois, certainly wouldn't be able to go and study it, and instead would have to marry and bear children.
However, this wouldn't stop her lust for a grasp of the subject.
Even after she had married (a marriage of convenience,) in 1896 when she was 21, she kept secret notebooks of her  observations and theories.
While amateur and underdeveloped, they brought her joy, and she considered it to be her hobby.
One day though, in 1901, when she was 26, she was passing through the Austrian city of Graz, on her way home from a dinner party her husband couldn't attend due to an illness, she witnessed a small boy, perhaps 13 or 14, drag a man to the floor with thick black smoke, while men and women surrounded him, all with glistening, red eyes, staring down at this man.
A gloved hand raised to cover her mouth with a gloved hand, and gasped.
Immediately, they all snapped their heads towards her, and after a short exchange in looks, a tall, brawny man approached the woman alongside a blonde girl, looking to be the same age as the boy she first saw.
After a moment of initial shock, her hand dropped from her mouth, "B-blutsauger?" (bloodsucker/vampire.)
There'd been rumours- made up stories so she thought. A sudden rise in deaths in the area, most of which had bite-shaped marks decorating the victims neck, and the newspapers ate it up. Y/n, of course dismissed such a thing, but now, she wasn't as sure.
"Do we change her or kill her?" The blonde girl asked after a short while, the man stilled, and looked at her.
"Do you reckon Aro would mind if we changed her?" He hummed in response, all while the woman trembled before them.
The girl tilted her head after a moment, "after we've done with him," she said, gesturing to the man suffering in coal-coloured smog, "we'll have dealt with our problem in Graz, we can go straight to Volterra with her."
The man shrugged, "shall I?" He asked.
She nodded curtly, "after all, if she's useless, we can kill her, no?"
.  .  .
Y/n woke up in a cold room, Fortezza de Volterra.
She jolted up, and looked around. Suddenly, everything was clear, no longer was the slight blur in her vision.
Memories flooded back to her, as a man with raven hair walked in,  a short woman trailing closely behind him.
Y/n stood stationary.
"I'm Aro, you?" He asked immediately, ghosting towards her.
A deep breath revealed inordinate thirst, however she daren't show weakness, "Y/n. Am I a blutsauger now?" she inquired nervously.
The man slowly nodded, "I understand it must be difficult for you, but it is for the better humans do not know of us. Be grateful you are still present."
He held his hand out, and after a moment I slid my hand into his, gasping as an image of the murder of the girl behind him, shortly followed by his own. I snatched my hand away, panicked, slowly backing away, and for the first time making eye contact with the woman behind him.
"What- what was that?"
Y/n's gift was the ability to see people's weaknesses with a single touch.
She was made aware of mates, and the connection with Renata.
She definitely struggled with the concept of homosexuality at first, due to her upbringing and the era, however after seeing examples of it around the castle with Afton and Chelsea, it slowly grew on her and the two women began courting one another.
Renata would teach you everything she knew about psychology, and as time progressed, the two of you attended many online courses, (it was difficult to attend any in person due to your commitments to the Volturi.
I think you'd discuss and debate theories for hours on end, and the two of you sat in cafes, in front of coffees you'd never drink, watching people, and their behaviour.
She'd smile softly every time you told her a fact, even if she was already aware of it, and the two of you bonded well over it.
Curling up with her on a night on her battered leather armchair, reading a book on forensic, modern, abstract, you name it, psychology, was a common occurrence.

ENJOY!
The next day, you had your appointment with the doctor. A doctor was apparently a woman and you were sure the kings were paying her something extra for the visit to be immediate. Unfortunately, she didn’t know any English, as she was a local gynaecologist. Your mates didn’t want you to feel uncomfortable in any way, so before the visit, Aro asked you, who you’d like to be the translator for you.
The ideal situation would be a woman, but you didn’t trust anyone in the castle, except the kings. For this reason, your first shot was Aro, as he had already seen your memories. There was nothing that would shock him, you also didn’t need to hide anything from him and you knew, he was the best at dealing with others. You figured it’d be an ideal solution and you had to admit to yourself that you simply wanted him to accompany you.
The whole visit took place in your room, which meant a lot of carrying the necessary equipment, but more mental comfort for you. In those two days, you managed to get quite settled in and didn't want to leave the castle. You felt safe and secured in your suite. Kings seemed to notice that, as it was Marcus, who proposed, it would be a great idea to have an appointment without the need of leaving your room.
While you both were waiting for the doctor to come, it was the first time you had seen Aro with brown eyes. He looked really out of place. You shared this thought with him, by saying you prefer when his eyes are normal. That’s what it took. Two days, to consider red eyes normal. As usual, he was polite and revealed to you that he also hated the colour, let alone the lenses.
When the doctor finally arrived, you were already a nervous wreck. Aro tried to distract you, asking questions mainly about your house in Forks and whether you had already spoken to Bella about family heirlooms. He succeeded for a while, but it couldn't last forever, could it?
The lady was extremely kind and gentle. The truth was, it was hard to hide how stressed you were about this visit. You didn't want anyone to touch you, not when you weren't ready, and this time you definitely weren't. Despite the doctor's initial efforts, you were unable to shake her hand in greeting. She only smiled sadly, as if understanding perfectly what you were going through. Aro assured you beforehand, for he had not told her anything and only if you wanted to, you should share your trauma with her.
The doctor, seeing your nervousness, decided that you should talk first. While she asked you questions, you noticed that she chose her words carefully and only then did you realise that she was also stressed, but in her case it was probably Aro's presence that made her uncomfortable. Although Aro tried not to impose his presence on her, you understood why it might overwhelm the doctor. You felt confident being in the same room with Aro, while she probably sensed danger, even if she could not rationally explain it to herself. You promised yourself that you would try to learn at least the basics of Italian before the next visit.
She needed to ask you about exactly everything since, unfortunately, you didn't have any medical records with you - neither from the obduction, nor from the subsequent visit to the doctor, where you confirmed the pregnancy. You made a mental note to tell Bella about it, so she could send your documents, along with the things she was supposed to take from your house.
Aro was great in his translator role. Of course, you were still looking at the doctor, while answering the questions, but Aro’s voice, at least, soothed your shattered nerves just a little bit. When the questions started to get more complicated or more intimate, Aro used such words as to not make you feel uncomfortable, while still conveying the meaning.  The more difficult part started, when you had to describe the situation from the hospital and how long it took for the bleeding to stop. Every word seemed linked to a particular image or smell from that night, until finally, you were unable to say anything at all.
The doctor was very understanding, probably having already guessed what exactly was your weird behaviour all about. You didn't say anything directly, you only described the situation from the hospital and then told her the details of this strange bleeding after the rape. Mainly because the doctor was very concerned about it. She explained to you that it was definitely not normal, even if you had wounds inside.
The worst part, however, was the examination. You didn't even want to think about whether you would have to undress, but it turned out to be unnecessary. The doctor had a great intuition, even if she herself was under a bit of stress. You told her that, indeed, you had been to the check-up before and that was how you found out you were pregnant. And that the doctor then checked if all the wounds had healed. The lady didn’t discuss the issue, for which you were very grateful.
After the interview, the doctor told you to lie down on the bed and only pull your blouse up, high enough for your belly to be visible. You didn't feel comfortable with this, but you preferred this way to undressing from the waist down. This was the first time you didn't feel comfortable lying on that bed. You knew that once the visit was over, everything would return to normal, but it wasn’t meant to become a memory you would return to with pleasure.
As it turned out, your first trimester was long over. The pregnancy was about 14 weeks old and that would explain the slight curving of your belly. Before the appointment, you were not sure if you would even look at the monitor to see the baby, but you did. You could not deny yourself this. The room fell silent and you could not tell what you were feeling.
The doctor pulled out some kind of a strange device and after a moment, you could hear the baby's heart. You glanced in the direction of Aro, who was obviously alarmed by your face. You grimaced, too overwhelmed to say anything to him. Up until this point, you were sure that the decision, if you should terminate the pregnancy or not, would be fairly easy. Now, you were certain that nothing in your life could be simple enough.
 *
Over the next few weeks, your day usually looked the same or similar, yet you managed to do something completely different every day. You were glad you had so much to do, because you didn't have time to think about what had happened. You didn't want to analyse it over and over again. The kings respected your choice - unless you yourself mentioned the traumatic events, not a single insinuation or implication about it fell from their lips.
Your days were filled with various activities. Every day you spent at least some time with each king in private - you knew you needed this to create and strengthen your bond. To keep you from being inundated with information, you learned something new from each of them about vampires and their lifestyle. After all, it was supposed to become your lifestyle in the nearest future. You discovered that thinking about your transformation caused you far less anxiety, than any memory associated with rape. Even after you learned that it more or less consisted of burning alive for a few days.
During your time with the kings, you tried not to show the insecurity you had acquired about your body, and yet, you were sure they knew anyway. However, the time spent with them was what you treasured most. With each of them you did something different, as you wanted to know what they like to do in their free time. Marcus, as he had promised on the first day, taught you Italian for two hours every day. It was not easy, but after a few weeks of intensive course and communicating in broken Italian, not only with Marcus, but also with the other two, you were able to maintain basic conversation.
Marcus was a great teacher, but that wasn’t the only reason why you loved spending time with him. He was the one who had the most time for you - he wasn't as busy as Aro or Caius, and besides, he had countless amounts of patience. He wasn't tired of your constant questions, not only about vampirism, but also about his past. You would often sit for hours in the library or in the gardens, which, by the way, were breathtaking. You both loved books and your only regret was that you weren't able to read most of their vast collection. Marcus assured you, you would have all eternity to do so. You could talk with him endlessly, as these conversations were truly effortless – even the most difficult topics seemed simple and uncomplicated.
You were surprised to learn about a gift of his. Your human mind was unable to comprehend it in the full sense of the word. Mostly because of this, he was the one to explain to you, what your bond even was and how exactly it worked. You have learned that after your transformation, you will feel the bond even more strongly. It is not often that one person has as many as three matches and is able to feel the bond while being human. Marcus explained to you that for now, both your mind and body are only subconsciously sensing the presence of the mates, as it’s impossible for human senses to do anything else.
It was so remarkable to you that you discussed it for hours. You also learned that the bond can be broken, as it is not forced in any way. However, this would be emotionally painful and very few vampires would choose to take such a desperate step.
One afternoon you were spending time in the garden again. You loved being outdoors, but for your own safety you did not go outside the castle grounds. Together, you decided that it would be safer to do only after your transformation. Besides, you didn't want to go anywhere. You were safe under the watchful eye of your mates and Renata, who, apart from the time spent with the kings and in your room, followed you in a constant manner.
The gardens were gorgeous and you wondered, who was taking care of all those magnificent flowers. You were strongly convinced that this was exactly what Eden might have looked like. You and Marcus had your favourite bench. You spent a lot of time outside, especially on sunny days. When you first found out why sitting in the sun might be a problem, you couldn't take your eyes off Marcus. He shimmered brilliantly, but your eyesight couldn't stand it for too long, because of the blinding effect. The gardens, however, were fenced off and inaccessible to the common passer-by, so you were safe to stay, as long as you wanted to.
“I asked Aro recently, if vampires can be killed in some way,” you began cautiously, not wanting to scare him away from this conversation. No one had talked to you about it, however, it still crossed your mind what state Marcus was in when you first saw him. You were willing to swear you looked exactly the same after your mother died. Now, knowing what all the mating bond was about, you were convinced that Marcus had lost someone dear to his heart.
As per usual, he smiled gently at you.
“I'm sure his answer was sufficient, my dear. What are you aiming at?” he asked, looking at you obliquely.
You took his hand in yours. With Marcus, physical contact was as easy as a conversation. He, however, never initiated any touch. He waited for you, just like he was waiting now, to reach for his hand or gently grasp his arm. The only movement he allowed himself was to stroke your hair every now and then, but only when he was absolutely sure you were willing.
“I wanted to ask what happens to the bond, when the vampire…is no longer here,” you said bluntly, not taking your eyes off him. Your understanding was unique. Marcus was gentle in manner, patient and extremely caring towards you. In no way did you want to ruin, what you had built over those few weeks.
His smile turned into one of the saddest you've seen on his face. By the time he answered, you regretted asking at all. You didn't want to cause him pain. You squeezed his fingers in your palm.
“Until you came to Volterra, I was sure that a vampire could only experience this special, unique bond once in a lifetime. I did experience it, yet this story does not have a happy ending,” he said, with utmost sadness in his voice.
Your heart ached, as you watched his suffering and grief. You had asked the question unnecessarily, but now there was no turning back. You continued to stroke his fingers, holding his hand securely in yours.
“When one of the vampires connected by mating bond dies, it does not mean that the bond disappears. It exists, but only on one side. It cannot be cherished, it cannot be repaired in any way. It isn’t reciprocated. What remains are the memories, and they are the only reminder of what the bond really meant, when it existed,” he explained in a distressed voice, slowly and carefully.
Holding his hand, you laid your head on his shoulder and sighed heavily.
“I'm so sorry this happened to you,” you whispered after a moment, feeling tears stinging under your eyelids. Even now, you couldn't imagine losing any of them and you couldn't possibly envision the amount of pain Marcus had gone through.
He embraced you carefully and gently hugged you to his side.
"Don't fret over it, cara. I've made my peace with it. However, that doesn't mean I've forgotten. I still miss her, after all these years," he said with longing in his voice, stroking your shoulder gently.
After a long moment of silence, you were in a genuinely poor condition. Tears dripped down your cheeks and your breathing quickened. Not only because of the pain Marcus must have gone through, but also because of your own yearning. You had come to terms with the death of your parents, but you missed them so much. You wanted to have them at least a little longer. Now, standing on the verge of immortality, you wished you had spent more time with them.
Marcus placed a kiss on your hair.
“Sob it out, dear. Nothing helps the soul more than honest tears,” he whispered, and you were ashamed, because you should be the one providing comfort for him. However, the memories were too fresh and you couldn't hold it back.
Once you had calmed down a bit, he handed you a handkerchief to wipe away your tears.
“I wish I could change my memories. Even if it was only for a brief moment to be able to forget that I will never see them again. To be able to forget what this…this monster did to me,” you whispered, snuggling tighter into his shoulder.
You heard his sigh and his embrace around your shoulder tightened.
“You have been terribly abused, cara. No one deserves such a fate. The most important thing now, is to get on with life. Our loved ones would not want us to dwell on their deaths,” he said, as wise and thoughtful, as ever. The hatred towards your abuser was palpable in Marcus’s voice.
“You are so good to me. I don't deserve this,” you whispered after a while, your voice swollen with emotion. He only smiled indulgently.
“You deserve the very best, dear. I've already lost one mate. I won't let anyone hurt you.”
“I’m sure she would be proud of you,” you said with compassion, after another moment of silence.
“I’m not quite certain about that,” he said, placing another kiss on the top of your head.
But you were sure. You were also sure, you would do anything to prevent Marcus from experiencing something like this again. You knew all too well the taste of grief.
 *
You truly had little time to think about the rape and pregnancy at all. If you weren’t with Marcus, it was Caius who loved to kidnap you, so he could spent some private time with you. Caius was the complete opposite of Marcus – absolute chaos, you could say. You had no idea how the brothers even got along. You had already noticed that Marcus rarely spoke, while Caius was rather impulsive and liked to discuss things in detail. However, until you started spending time alone, you had no idea what he was really passionate about.
It turned out that his greatest passion was art. He would show you countless paintings he himself had painted throughout the centuries. He could talk for hours about types of paint and how to mix colours properly. Although you were not very good at painting, you tried to learn a little with Caius’ help. When he was alone with you, he was still abrupt and impulsive, but in a charming way. He never imposed himself on you and you discovered that annoying him was really great fun. So banter and frequent teasing were the order of the day.
You often spent afternoons and evenings with Caius. He taught you how to paint, but not only. Art history was his passion and you loved to listen to him tell stories. His voice was mesmerising and hypnotic. He also eagerly answered all your questions about vampire race. You listened about the horrible children of the moon and how Caius singlehandedly had almost slaughtered them all. He warned you that after the transformation you would be violent and impulsive, that you would have nothing on your mind but to satisfy your thirst. This frightened you slightly, but at times when things got weird or dangerous, Caius assured you that you would always have full support of your mates. You never doubted that. You knew they would help you to grow accustomed to your new life.
Caius loved every variety of art you could name. When he asked you for permission to sculpt you, you were so surprised that you made a strange sound. He said that, of course, he wasn't going to overstep your boundaries and you yourself would choose some beautiful casual attire, so he could portray your beauty in sculpture. All you had to do was dress once as he asked and stand in the right pose. He remembered every detail of your posture, including your facial expressions. Often, he would sculpt you, while you would talk about insignificant things also learning how to sculpt...well, things that didn't resemble anything. Yet, you wanted to be as good as he was.
You were in your nineteenth week, when he invited you for a long painting session. His studio was huge and consisted of nothing but breathtaking works of art. You were decorating some random sculpture that you had never seen before. Caius also loved contemporary art, so you could go wild. Taking classes with him was better, than any therapy. You could smear paint on everything - the canvas, the sculptures, yourself, and even him, because he was usually in a good mood and you could enjoy it. He never showed you even a trace of anger, and you, fooling around with him like that, were genuinely pleased and happy.
When you finished, the room looked rather bad, not to mention the clothes or your hair. Caius would never have appeared that way to the guards, let alone on trial, but with you it was different.
“I wanted to show you something,” he said, wiping the paint off your cheek.
You took his hand. Caius, like Marcus, did not invade your personal zone, unless you specifically gave permission. However, carnality and touch were important to him, and so, once you were more comfortable in his presence, he liked to show you affection by stroking your cheek or your back, and intertwining his fingers with yours, when you held hands. You didn't mind his cold skin – by now you were accustomed to it, as three of them had similar body temperature. You were the hottest here. Literally.
You walked slowly to another room.
“I didn't tell you, but I finished craving” he said, and you could hear the excitement in his voice. You smiled at him. That was the main reason why you had agreed to have yourself sculpted in the first place. You wanted to get close to him on a level, which was inaccessible to do in any other way.
“Before you show me, will you tell me as to where you even got the idea of carving me?” you asked, amused. Caius was much taller than you, you had to slightly lift your head to look him straight in the eye.
At first, he smiled archly, but immediately his smile softened. He pulled at the material that covered the sculpture, so that it fell to the floor. You were simply speechless. The woman, who stood opposite to you was over four metres tall. The sculpture was made of marble and the woman looked, as if she was an actual person. There was something elusive about her. Her face, thoughtful yet serene, her hair flowing freely over her shoulders onto her back. She was clad in a fine fabric that flowed in waves down to her bare feet. She looked nothing like you and yet, you two looked exactly alike.
You had no idea that you started crying. The woman was beautiful. You could feel the power and dignity emanating from her, and on the other hand, she seemed to you as if... fragile and ephemeral. Caius had captured in this sculpture all the feelings you had been feeling, without even knowing it.
You felt his hand on your cheek, his fingers gently wiping away your tears along with some paint, which remained on your face.
“I thought I would like you to see yourself through my eyes. Exactly as I see you – without a single flaw, yet with all your imperfections. I don't want you to be unable to look at yourself, because of what this animal did to you. I don't see it. I only see you, [Y/N]. The real you. Beautiful and fragile, yet powerful, without inhibitions or scruples. Capable of anything.”
The words were trapped in your throat. You wanted to say something, but you were sure, that as soon as you were going to open your mouth, uncontrollable sob would come out. You looked first at Caius, then at the woman carved in marble, then back at Caius. He only smiled gently.
“Who we are – we decide that ourselves. No one else does. To me, you are beautiful. Pure. Never think otherwise, dolcezza.”
Without warning, you hugged him so hard, that it hurt. You forgot that his skin was different from yours. He embraced you without hesitation, even though you were all covered in paint. You wept, cuddling into his chest, as he soothingly stroked your hair and back.
Once you had slightly calmed down, you looked up at him. His blond hair looked like a halo over his head. He amazed you in every sense of the word.
“Thank you. Thank you for letting me see this,” you whispered poignantly, and then went straight back to hugging him.
“There's nothing to thank you for, my lovely [Y/N]. I would like you to accept yourself as you are. Because you are truly magnificent.”
 *
The only person you talked straightforward about pregnancy was Aro. Was it because of his gift? Most likely, and you simply felt you could trust him. From the moment you first found yourself in his arms, the bond between you two only strengthened. Also, a memorable visit from the doctor was also significant, and then, together with him, you went through the documents that Bella had sent you. To say he was furious, was an understatement. Yes, Aro saw your memories, but the reports were written from a third-person perspective. And the other evening was really awful – you couldn't stop crying because you couldn't block out the flow of memories.
You were close with each other; close enough for you to try to overcome your insecurities, to talk about how you really felt about this whole situation you found yourself in. It was far from easy, but Aro was a really patient specimen. In the course of these talks, you discussed practically everything. You knew that every scenario had to be worked out and discussed, because there were many different options of the outcome.
Despite many conversations, you were still unsure about keeping the baby. You didn't know if you wanted to, if you would be able to raise it and then tell it that it would forcibly have to become a vampire. After the doctor's appointment, things did not get any easier for you. You heard the heart and knew that the child was not to blame for its father’s actions. You were raped, but this child had nothing to do with it.
So you waited. You waited for a miracle to decide for you or for the baby to move when you were thinking of having it removed. It’d be a sign not to do it. However, nothing of the sort was happening and fate was not deciding for you. Aro convinced you that, even if you decided to have an abortion, there was nothing wrong about it. No one would blame you for it. The only person to blame here, was the monster who raped you.
You hadn't decided what you would do about the pregnancy, but you and Aro knew what would happen, if something went wrong. For your mates, it was your health and life that came first. Aro assured you of that a thousand times over. Because of this, if anything went wrong with the birth or if there were any complications, you were to be changed immediately. Also because of this, Aro talked to you about all aspects of your transformation. He was the one who introduced you to what transformation actually looks like. He didn't scare you with the pain you were about to go through, but only gave you the facts. Facts that you needed to know.
When you weren't talking about such serious matters, Aro also loved to spend time talking to you, but about different topics. He seemed to know all your thoughts, but you were still able to surprise him. He explained to you, that the human mind was more disordered and chaotic, than vampire one and that he certainly didn't see everything. Your brain chose the memories, often associated with strong feelings and emotions, which were meant to be remembered. You were joyful about this, because you could talk endlessly and he kept finding out something new about you. And you kept finding something new about him. You knew from the first moment that he was extraordinary, and the more you talked, the more you became certain about it.
Besides, Aro adored dancing. You were not convinced about this form of activity, but it was the intimacy of this act that convinced you. In his arms, no one was able to hurt you. You felt safe and, after many attempts, quite confident in your movements. He literally beamed, being able to teach you to dance and to be so close to you. You found nothing in his eyes but the infinite adoration he had for you. When you found out the reason behind this, your heart almost broke with sorrow and compassion.
“I must confess something to you, cara mia,” he whispered, holding you securely in his arms. It was evening, you had long since been prepared for sleep. He found your long nightgown to his liking, when he came to check how you were doing and if you needed anything. You rested your head on his shoulder. There was no music, he was the one giving the rhythm to your movements, yet it was the most wonderful dance you had yet had the chance to dance with him.
“Do tell, please,” you said, trying not to lose the rhythm. You were tired, as throughout the day you sorted through the things Bella sent you from Forks. In addition, you worked with Marcus to sell your house, because you were, after all, a little concerned about what hands your family home would pass into.
“I have been bound over the centuries to both men and women. My ex-wife, Sulpicia, whom you know and, to the best of my knowledge, whom I permitted to leave, was my faithful companion, basically from the beginning of my immortality. However, until now, I did not know what it meant to have a true mate.”
He tilted you gently, wishing to look into your eyes. You continued to sway to a non-existent rhythm, completely oblivious to your surroundings. You furrowed your brows.
“Are you serious?” you asked in a whisper, not wanting to ruin the moment. The light emanating from the candles, illuminated half of his face. He smiled, and you were unable to take your eyes off his red irises.
“Yes, my dear. I have waited over three thousand years for you. I must tell you, that I could wait another three millennia, only to see your beautiful face,” he said affectionately, holding you tighter against him to stroke your flushed cheek with his fingers.
Your eyes welled up with tears and he slowly bent down and kissed your forehead.
“That's enough for today, cara mia. You must rest well. Caius has something planned for tomorrow, but he didn't want to reveal what, under any circumstances,” he said amused, giggling under his breath. You loved when Aro was in a good mood, because then you were in a good mood too. Before he walked you to bed, he wiped away your tear. You squeezed his hand in yours, then climbed onto the bed. He covered you carefully with a duvet and stroked your hair.
“I'm glad I came here,” you whispered, looking into his eyes. “I never want to leave you,” you said with force. He smiled softly at you and stroked your hair once more.
“We will always be by your side, [Y/N]. Good night, cara.”
His voice so soft and tuneful that as soon as he snuffed out the candles, you drifted off to sleep in an instant.

Apart from the fact that almost everything was going great and your mental state was in constant improvement, your relationship with Bella had severely worsened. In the beginning you talked every evening. She still couldn't understand why you were selling the house and why you wouldn't, at least, want to visit Forks. After a while, you got fed up with explaining it to her. There were an awful lot of things she wasn't happy about and she didn't hide it. She kept criticising the Volturi without knowing them and having no idea, what they were actually doing.
You loved her like a sister, but because of that, she could annoy you exactly like one. Because of her pinching remarks and your lack of patience, you called each other less and less. You didn't want to keep getting annoyed and you were tired of explaining things to her. Besides, you didn't like that she didn't say a single good word about your mates. You at least tried to accept Edward. Suddenly, what he did to her was all forgotten and you couldn't understand it. You didn't know, what was happening to your sister and your stay in Italy didn’t exactly make things better. You still hoped that once you saw each other after the transformation, you would be able to explain it all to one another. You didn't want to lose Bella, the last person you considered family.
So you talked less and less or not at all, and when you did, you avoided difficult and sensitive topics. It was not like with Bella at all and it made you anxious. You were at ease with each other, almost always, and you didn’t get why she was so bitter and hateful towards your knew, chosen life. Especially, because partially your presence right then, in the trial chamber, was the reason for her to be alive at all.
Shortly after Caius presented you with your sculpted self, you were to spend the whole day together, the four of you. These were the days you loved the most. Although you cherished the time spent with each of your mates separately, the presence of all three put you in an ecstatic mood. You usually spent your afternoons like this – there were still a lot of things to do and solve, and a lot of trials to carry out.
Being in Volterra for so long, you learned a lot about the existing laws and how to enforce them. You knew that kings were not flawless, but it was logical to you that keeping the entire vampire world in line, required some sacrifices. Some greater than the other ones.
You usually sat down in the study, where you had ended the very first day, at a round table. You listened to the discussions and arguments, but also just spent time with your mates. You often sat on Aro's lap or tried to calm Caius down, when he became too agitated.
You were extremely excited since the morning, because they promised you a whole day outside. It wasn't often that all three of them wanted to spend time with you in the gardens, so you couldn't restrain your exhilaration. However, there were also days, or rather moments, when, under any circumstances, you could not leave your room. Such a moment was to occur today, after breakfast. You slept for a long time, almost until eleven o'clock. When you ate your breakfast, it was Renata who informed you that it was time to eat. Of course, you knew what it was about.
The only situation, in which you could not leave your chamber, was at lunchtime. Not yours, though, but the lunchtime of all the vampires, who inhabited the castle. For your own safety, usually for about two hours, you were not to leave and to occupy yourself with whatever you wanted. The only two hours, in which Renata or anyone else was not around you. Not many people knew about your stay in the castle and because of this, the kings decided that Renata should eat with the rest of the company.
You did not consider it strange in the slightest. Of course, you tried not to think about the fact that people would die, but you knew that they were chosen at random. Which meant that they could just as well have been run over by a car or they could have died in a fire. You did not think about it. You were just enjoying your two hours of freedom. Sometimes you sunbathed on the balcony, prepared your outfit or just played on the computer. These were little things that still reminded you of being human.
This week, when Renata told you that she would be gone for a while, you were already enjoying a long soak in the bathtub. The home spa was one of the favourite things you and your mum liked to do together. You poured hot water into the tub, applied a mask that you had prepared yourself with a few ingredients and relaxed.
Since you had no idea when, you were no longer afraid to look in the mirror. Sure, your body shape was far from ideal, but at least you weren’t terrified to look. You weren’t terrified to acknowledge that, yes, your body was raped, but you were recovering from it. And that you started to think that your body didn’t cause any of this.
After some time you spent in the bathtub, you felt a little dizzy. It wasn’t exactly a good sign, so you figured it’d be wise to get out of the tub. When you rinsed yourself off with clean water, you stood up, and that was the moment of terror. The room immediately started spinning, like you were on roundabout for the last forty minutes. You felt nauseous, but there was nothing near you to which you could cling to. You managed to step out of the tub, on the marble step, and then you felt it. Pain, excruciating pain, suffocation. Streams of blood went down your legs and before you fell onto the ground, you could only see white marble floor all covered in sanguineous blood.

Stardust (Demetri x Reader)
Here you were. Again.
Demetri sighed heavily as he watched your form racing across a busy plaza that was teeming with people and salesmen. You were trying to fetch your train. In this life, you looked like you were going to university. Whatever it was you were doing, the stressed mumbling of you reiterating the principles of some theory he had read about time and time again (and that he found to be utterly fallible) was like music to his ears. Your voice was so soft.
His partner in crime, Felix, gazed curiously at him, halting his analytic search to spot the vampire they were here for. ”Everything all right, mate?“
Snorting bitterly, Demetri scoffed. ”You are a pain in the fine curvature that starts where my back ends.“
”Nothing new, then.“ Felix shrugged, following Demetri‘s line of sight. Arching a brow, he looked between Demetri and you. The pained expression on his best friend's face suddenly made sense. He had seen it a few times before. The anguish, the pining, the compulsion to abstain.
Demetri was fighting a losing battle against himself. He need not explain the situation to Felix. The chime of your tenor was astonishing and refreshing. It set his unbeating heart on fire and burned him on the inside. Your ecstatic melody was so familiar and yet so foreign. He had had the pleasure to hear it a few times already in his eternal life, but he had never dared to approach you. The first time he saw you was around 670. You had been a man, working tirelessly to nurture his family. The second time Demetri was blessed by the persistent pull that reached from one life to the next and made it most difficult to avoid saying what you meant to him any longer, was in 1143. Then, you were born a noble lady and married off to some bloke much older than you. In 1473, he felt ready for a romantic relationship. He began searching for your tenor against all odds, thinking it would be futile. But, alas! He found you. Unfortunately, by then, you were a hoary and wizened widow… And now here you were: in 2023.
It seemed that fate was playing a cruel game with the two of you. Either Demetri could not bear the thought of realizing the mate bond and exposing you to the insidious and ghastly world of the Volturi - of vampires! -, or when he was willing to throw away his inhibitions, your love story was ill-fated. Like star-crossed lovers Demetri and you were trying to collect the stardust beneath your feet, hoping that, for once, your love lives would be fulfilling. At least, Demetri was trying to do that. You did not know that he even existed. But maybe your love life was unsatisfying in this lifetime, too. Like it had been in so many others. Maybe Demetri should sweep you off your feet and waste no more time.

I Will Never Die —Part I—
Carlisle Cullen X Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The fiery heat of the summer burns through the Volterra, and you do not have many adjectives to describe the heat on your skin as you continue a brisk walk. After all, you are one of the oldest living vampires having been turned in 4000 BC in Egypt, you spent your first few thousand years alone. You weren't the first, but most of the Old Ones have died in recent years. Travelling without purpose, until you found a poor man in need of help. He was going to die, and you felt indebted to bring one good thing to the world and turned him around 2500 BC.
Amun became one of your confidants, someone you trusted dearly, but still that did not seem to fill in the gaps within your soul. You left him in Egypt, where he built a great coven while you continued your search for purpose in other things. Throughout the next thousand years, you would visit your old friend, but you spent a lot of your time in what became Western Europe. Civilizations rose from the dust, and then fell around you, never to be seen again. To only be mentioned later in history classes, and still, you lived on. Untouched by time.
Near the fall of Greece, you happened to bump into Marcus and Aro; although odd characters, they were aiming to bring vampires together and bring order to an otherwise broken world. You found that vision bright and unique, and from there-- you helped them build a powerful coven, all while remaining on the sidelines. You felt compelled to help, but not so much rule, and that is what the Volturi stood for. To rule over vampires, give them law and order. Someone to answer too when they exposed themselves. Something that you stood behind in the beginning.
You stand off center, to the right of Aro's throne, careful to keep yourself under the cover of Renata's shield. Over the years, you have grown tired of the games as the Volturi slowly stopped standing for law, but instead, chased power-- no matter how many covens get in the way. After the decimation of the Egyptian Coven, the one started by Amun, you almost left, but they convinced you it was a necessary evil. Now though, you doubt that and leave it to Aro's need for power. His craving to be the one in ultimate control.
"Sister, they send you to get one. And you come back with two.... and a half." This seems to peak your interest as you alert yourself, seeing Edward Cullen return to the throne room. Although when you see him, you only see his eyes, which are the same eyes of your mate. Your only love. The one you let leave because that was what he desired most, and your time with the Volturi was not quite at its end. That's your gift, of sorts, to see the length of events-- there's not so much a description or physical aspect, just seeing it. A deep feeling that stays until it is time to leave, and you just know.
It didn't work with others in the beginning, but over time, you developed your gift to see timelines. The expanses of choices, without ever knowing the choices and consequences themselves. Just time itself. With humans, it's disappointing because existence to them is so short. Yet with vampires, it doesn't really have an end. Just a path, that could grow shorter— cut short seems like a more description.
"What a happy surprise! Bella is alive after all, isn't that wonderful?" You find your attention on the human, rather simple, but she seems to hold a powerful ability within her. Over the years, you developed a knack for that; seeing potential in humans. One that you are curious to see develop. You stiffen as Aro moves towards them quickly, feeling a growing protection for the Cullen, but you push the thought down as quickly as you can manage. Edward may be able to read active thought, but Aro can too and he is taking Edward's hand, which means your thoughts are vulnerable.
"I love a happy ending." Your eyes flicker back to the human, who doesn't seem scared, but still, it has you wondering. As you focus, you see her time as a human is coming to an end, her humanity ticking away, and you wonder if she chooses this life. Or if it is forced upon her. "They are so rare.... La Tua Cantante. Her blood appeals to you so much, it makes me thirsty." There it is, you feel it in your gut, the cut. The sensation of your time with the Volturi coming to an end, and Aro's eyes flicker to you momentarily, but return to Edward. "How can you stand to be so close to her?"
You maintain your composure, control over your thoughts is absolute pertinent, you cannot risk Aro stopping you. They have to let you go willingly. "It's not without difficulty." The conversation seems to become an afterthought, the image of your beloved there. Someone you shared a short history with, but cannot seem to forget.
"I wonder, let us see if she is immune to all our powers-- shall we Jane?" Chaos seems to erupt as Edward moves towards Jane, but he drops under the influence of the sadistic girl's ability. You find yourself unable to look, ashamed of what the Volturi has become and what you helped build it to be. But it is the human who shouts for Jane to stop, begging and you admire her courage. Again, she stumps you. Never have you seen a human exhibit such bravery in the presence of such cruelty.
"Jane?" Now you step forward, moving to the side of the human girl. "Go ahead my dear?"
"Aro, there's no need--" He silences you with a wave of his hand, and you find yourself staring him down. Not particularly angry, but not happy either-- you are disappointed that he let all his potential, turn into this. Nothing happens though. Jane is completely powerless.
The rounds of applause seem to bounce off every corridor of the Volterra as the three great Kings enter, and you, stand off to the side— not particularly fond of parties, you often choose to stay away from the center. Not much of your existence has revolved around parties, but the Kings had asked you to attend. No one speaks as Aro raises a glass, filled with blood— you can smell it, and grimace. They are simply not pleased with just pretending, they have to go out of their way—kill unnecessarily. You used to consider yourself a friend, but the loss of Didyme shook you to your core. You two were close, and her death, well it changed the dynamic of the Volturi greatly. The power core was once Aro and Marcus, but now Caius has weaseled his way into the mix.
“Welcome my dear friends. Tonight we celebrate a great victory, the abolishment of the Russian Coven who threatened the existence of all of us.” You glance at Eleazar, the pair of you having shared your concern over the growing lust for power. You wanted to believe they could change, that you held influence that would guide them in the right direction. “They believed they could accumulate power without consequence, and that’s not how it works. So tonight, let us raise a glass in honor of this accomplishment. And let us welcome, our newest member, Carlisle Cullen. An oddity in our race, but a friend of the Volturi.” This perks your interest, not just his name, but Aro calls him an oddity. You cannot remember the last time anyone peaked your interest to this degree—your friendship with Eleazar being the greatest surprise of this last century.
“Aro, I think I’m going to go dance. If you’ll excuse me.” He smiles, his hand shared with Marcus as you offer a curt excuse to leave. You wonder what this Carlisle Cullen looks like. What color hair? Whether he’s short or tall? Slim or muscular? You wonder what makes him so different from most vampires, enough to get Aro to bring him into his little collection.
You reach the floor, the stairs easily conquered without much results as you look for the unfamiliar faces. Which is difficult with masks involved.
“Milady Y/N, I see you’ve decided to join us common guard.” You offer a sweet smile at Eleazar, greeting him with a hug. He listens, curious to hear the many stories that come with being around for so long. The struggles and victories, to watch humanity grow and fall one after another.
“Eleazar, you and I both know I’m not known for my ability to remain on the balcony.” Referring to the time she jumped from the balcony onto the floor, when a rogue vampire made an appearance.
“Perhaps, but it is good to see you.” He bows, holding out his hand. “May I have the honor of a dance?” Gliding with Eleazar is easy as you make casual conversation, until a hand lands on your waist and you switch partners rather suddenly. Forced to meet unfamiliar and intriguing golden eyes.
Aro's laughter is toxic and over the years, you still are not numb to the sound; in the beginning, it was not so harsh. However, now there is nothing, but harshness. You admit that you wish things would have gone differently, that you would have been able to walk away all those years ago, but now there is nothing left to lose. No one she loves more than the one she has been apart from for the last century. More than that, considering you spent centuries alone before he was even born. So now, with the ties broken, it is time.
For a moment, Edward's eyes meet your's, to which you curtly nod in response— subtly, because today is your last day with the Volturi. There is no more need for death and destruction, and you refocus on the human. She is closely tied to Edward, but more than that, her time as a human seems to be slipping away. You quirk your head just a tad, fascinating— the fact that your gift seems to work and other's seems to have no effect at all. Why? You do not let the thought linger as Aro seems to grow more ruthless, no longer fronting his curiosity.
"Remarkable. She confounds us all. So what do we do with you now?" You stiffen, glancing at the floor— knowing that this is not the end for Bella Swam, but it still does not sit well to know that other vampire's thoughts.
"You already know what you're going to do, Aro?" To hear Marcus say it, you feel your insides twist and turn.
"She knows too much. She's a liability." You abruptly turn your attention Caius... something more than just distaste bubbles inside of your chest, at the blonde haired king. You zone out for a moment, lost in thought. Remembering how things used to be— you remember them as kind and loving, ambitious, but not cruel. That was when you cared for them. When they still held onto their humanity, but now, you see no humanity in them at all.
Felix is moving faster than a blink, following the orders given to him by his King— you seem to flinch as he turns his attention to Bella, and then there's Edward. You do not know him, but you know he is important to your love. Someone that is a member of his family, and yet Felix flings him like a rag doll. The large vampire grips Edward's neck, turning it upward and just as you're about to step in— it is once again the human.
"Please!! Please?!" She is begging, you can hear her pleas and feel the pain, and that moment where you almost felt Edward's ties to this world break— they restrengthen and it eases your mind. "Kill me. Kill me.... not him." You seem to move unconsciously behind Felix. If he goes to break Edward, you prepare to break him— rip him apart before he even has a second to think about what he is doing.
Yet it is not Edward you have to be concerned with, it is Bella as Aro stalks closer to her— the words seem to hang on your lips, prepared to slip free. Prepared to protect the human, something you have not done in the last several centuries. May your gods forgive you for the sins of your past.
"Wait! Bella will be one of us... I've seen it. I'll change her myself." Alice, the seer, and one of the Cullens that Aro wants more than anything else on this Earth. He is a collector, one of the most ruthless, willing to kill anyone to get what he wants.
"Mesmerizing. To see what you have seen before it has happened." He pauses, "But how can we be sure?" You take this as your cue, the moment when you have to defend this human. This girl that perplexes you more than anything else in your existence.
"I feel it... Miss Swan has much to give this world, and will be here for a very long time." Perhaps this is the first time the human has noticed you, but you see the appreciation even if she does not say it. "Let me show you." There is a degree of grace to your movements as you give your hand over Aro, a familiar movement. Yet with a gentle curiosity, he nods curtly. Nervously. You are not someone to disagree with, ancient beyond them— stronger. You are leaving today, whether he agrees or not.
"You're gifts will make for a very intriguing immortal... Isabella. You must go now." He pauses, waving off Felix, to which he drops Edward, "Make your preparations."
"Let us be done with this. Heidi will arrive any moment. Thank you for your visit.” Marcus has to be able to see your loyalty shift in that instant, nearly gone completely. How odd it must be for him? Unlike others that break slowly, unwinding— yours is in an instant. A choice. Your gifts so close in ability that it is easy to confound even him, requiring no effort at all. “Goodbye Lady Y/N. These centuries have been a pleasure.” You smile at Marcus, one that he does not return.
"We will return the favor. We advise that you follow through on your promise. We do not offer second chances." He smirks, looking at you with a sadistic grin. He changed the Volturi, Aro always was looking for power, but Caius was able to use that to his advantage. His own sociopathic needs. “Hope we meet again, Lady Y/N.”
"Goodbye my young friends." Aro glances at you, as you begin to match pace with the trio. An odd one out, which confuses Bella even more— having missed the silent conversations between gifts. “Goodbye for now, dear Y/N.” How long is peace going to last with Aro around, but a second with Carlisle will make it all worthwhile.
"Nice fishing Heidi."
"Yes, they do look rather juicy."
"Save some for me."
"This way please... Stay together."
Edward, hurry…. You think of the screams, the aches that come with drinking from humans. They’re just tourists here for a tour of an ancient castle, blissfully unaware. The screams start, they echo and you push yourself to keep walking forward. This is the last time you ever have to hear the sound of a human scream.
Something about Forks feels perfect, and in all your existence, you have not felt this at ease. Yet as you draw closer to the Cullen home with Alice, you feel antsy. And if you had a heart, a physical heart, you'd expect it to be beating rapidly. "He talks about you all the time." You quirk a brow, glancing in the direction of the pixie like vampire, petite and yet one of the most powerful.
"I only hope time has not changed him." Some part of you still imagines him to be the same man. You want him to care for you as he did all those years ago, that night when you met him— you had never been so entranced by someone.
“I’m sure it’s changed you.”
“Alice, I’m the oldest being on the planet. I have not felt the effects of time in a long time.” She seems to accept the answer, but smiles nonetheless as they turn into a driveway. Edward had taken Bella home, so it was just you and Alice— and Carlisle within running distance. Close enough to feel. Close enough to smell.
“He’s missed you.” You swallow, smiling nervously at her words.
“Not as much as I’ve missed him.”
Once the house comes into view, he’s already there at the edge of the patio— he looks the same, dressed differently, but so are you. Moving with the time, but otherwise he is the same. The same golden eyes that have this insatiable curiosity, and casual posture that does not reveal just how good he is. How kind. How gentle. How strong. The car does not have time to stop before you are in front of him, smiling softly. Tired of trying to imagine what it feels like to touch him, to hold him— you hesitantly reach out to touch him. Running your fingers from his hands to his for arms, it feels the same— everything about him perfectly preserved as you finally meet his eye. No glass. No worry. No more goodbyes.
“Y/N…” He sounds nervous, you can hear the waver in tone as if he’s afraid you’ll disappear. He reaches out, pausing unsure if he’s ready— scared he’s dreaming or dead, or anything that does not actually involve you being here with him.
“Carlisle.” He smiles, your voice rings and fixed all the wounds. All the nights and days spent missing you, gone— couldn’t matter at all, because you’re here. Carlisle cups your cheeks and kisses you lightly.
“My Y/N.” No amount of time prepared you to hear him say that again.
Standing with the Cullens, you feel something natural, although you stand out with your eyes— will it be difficult? To give up the only lifestyle you have ever known, no, but to keep Carlisle's arm around your waist— you'd give up everything. Turn off the sun, or never drink again— just to keep him at your side, and you're never going to let him go again. Once more you look at the human girl, who looks at the supernatural world with courage and bravery that you have not seen in quite some time. It is as if she fears nothing, and you find that admirable.
"You all know what I want. And I know how much I'm asking for. The only thing for me to think of to make it fair is to vote." She hushes Edward. "Alice?"
"I already consider you my sister. Yes."
"I vote yes. It would be nice to not want to kill you all the time."
"I'm sorry. I'm really sorry to both of you for how I acted and I'm really grateful that you were brave enough to save my brother. But this isn't the life I would have chosen for myself. And I wish someone would have been there to vote no for me. So no."
"I vote hell yeah. We can pick a fight with these Volturi some other time."
"Why are you doing this to me? You know what this means."
"You've chosen not live without her, which leaves me no choice. I won't lose my son."
Bella turns her attention to you briefly, but then her eyes grow more sure, and certain... "What do you think?" For a moment, you smile softly— and Bella is no longer afraid of the crimson sparks in those eyes.
"I think that you will make a wonderful immortal... but I do not have a vote." You glide towards her, holding out your hand so that you can bring her close. "I have been on this Earth long enough to know that the choices we make, tend to stick better, than the choices made for us." You smile, "Only you can make this choice." You drop her hand, and tuck yourself back under Carlisle's arm, the missing pieces that had slipped away all those years ago; finally, beginning to find their places once more.
You stand with the Cullens once more, shifters opposite as they take in the Cullen clan. You were expecting four or five, but there’s at least twelve in front of you— amazing. You wonder what prompted their shift, because they’re not werewolves. Not like any you’ve ever seen. Carlisle keeps close, your eyes a dead giveaway that you’re new— the red undertones still very visible in your slightly gold eyes.
“They want to know about her.” You smile, but Carlisle holds you protectively.
“She’s one of the oldest living vampires, an expert on newborns-” He smiles in your direction, “And my mate.” Carlisle kisses your temple and Jasper gestures you forward, along with Emmett.
“A newborn army doesn’t need thousands like a human army, and no human army could stand against them.” You nod, keeping your distance— nervous, but ready to show off a little. Training with the Volturi was always about killing in the dead of night for a cause, but this is about protecting the family Carlisle built.
“There are two rules: first, never let them get their arms around you. They’ll crush you instantly.” He gestures you to the front, “And second: never go for the obvious kill. They’ll be expecting that, and you. Will. Lose.” Then he gestures Emmett forward, who looks psyched to be opposite to you. You take this as a moment to speak up.
“Emmett best simulates a Newborn; impulsive, relying primarily on brute force.” You smirk as he readies up, but you don’t make any effort to prepare yourself. “Don’t hold back.”
“Not in my nature grandma.” You quirk a brow, curious and curiouser— his confidence astounds you, and yet you are unfazed by his quick advance. Sidestepping him just slightly as he makes a leap, not even giving him a chance to grab you. He turns sharply, going at you quick with a hand which you block with the outer part of your wrist, and do the same with his attempted second blow. Using his momentum, you throw a hard kick into his chest— creating space to go on the offensive. He stumbles, and you fall into a comfortable crouch.
“Cmon slowpoke. I need a challenge.” You antagonize, which gets him going— you see the snap. Similar to that of a newborn, intriguing. He swings and you counter, over and over, until you throw a palm into his neck. You’ve taken entire newborn armies on your own, old enough to remember the first time vampires weaponized newborns to do the dirty work. Having had to deal with it on your own long before the Volturi was even a thing, not even a thought.
“I’m not slow.” You smirk, having both his wrists in your palms as you flip over— keeping him in your hold with your teeth barred against his neck.
“And I’m bored.” He groans as you drop his arms. It felt like every time he threw something at you, it was impossible to get ahead. You always seemed ready for every attack. “Now newborns tend to act first, think later. Blood. Taunts. Anything that riles them up, makes them an easier target.” You face the wolves, “Strategy will always overpower brute strength.”
Carlisle welcomes your hand into his, as he leans over: “You’re still just as breathtaking as that first night.”
“You must be Carlisle Cullen.” He grins, twirling you around as he brings you in close— his eyes seem to put you under some strange spell. Making it impossible to look away, wondering what makes his eyes such an odd color. Such a beautifully odd shade of gold.
“And you are easily the most beautiful person in the room.” You can’t remember the last time someone flattered you, and you felt the familiar flutter in your stomach.
“Coming from someone as peculiar as you. I’m inclined to believe you might be telling the truth.” He smiles, you could imagine your heart pounding in your chest had it still been alive— you feel alive as he leads the dance.
“I saw you on the balcony, and maybe I’m too bold, but I just needed a dance. And perhaps a name?” You switch your hand just a little, allowing your fingers to intertwine as you bring yourself closer.
“Y/N…” There is some hesitance.
“Y/N.” Your name has never sounded so beautiful, or perfect, his voice soft and dulcet. Kind. You can’t remember the last time anyone was kind, even Eleazar took weeks to warm up to you. People fear those with more time, more experience, and more power. “I take it you’re not just a member of the Guard?” You shake your head, “A wife of the Kings?” Again you shake your head, this time with distaste.
“Unmarried.” He nods, using one hand to guide you in a twirl away from someone trying to steal you away for a dance. “All those centuries, and no ones ever caught my interest.” He makes a little face, but collects himself— you try to memorize every facet of him. “What about those eyes, Carlisle? Peculiarity is both intriguing, and I can’t remember the last time anyone surprised me.” At least three decades, perhaps more.
“Animal blood.” He grins, continuing his questions. “Centuries? I take it you were changed by the Kings?”
“How very strange. I thought it was possible, but never had the guts to try. Too worried. Too busy. Too bored to care.” You take the lead in the dance, switching it up on him. “Oh no, I’m much older than the Kings. I’ve seen many Kings.”
“How old are you? If you don’t mind me asking.” You lean in close, lips hovering over his ear.
“Old enough.”
Waiting for the Newborns seems to take an eternity, the longest moment— all of you perfectly still, near each other. Protective. You glance at Carlisle, you’d protect him at all cost. Give everything. “Don’t leave my side.” You hear the newborns grow closer, hearing his whisper.
“Never.” You work together, with him pinning as you behind— careful to have each others back, moving quickly. In perfect tandem. You wish you hadn’t have missed all those years. You whisk around his side, grabbing a newborn by the throat, crushing it between your fingertips. You see another newborn approaching Carlisle, shouting to point them out, but it distracts you. Just for a second. Enough for a newborn to wrap his arms around you. You struggle— clawing, but they have you on the ropes.
It’s Carlisle who sees, you had never seen him move so fast— ripping the newborn off you by it’s limbs, ripping them apart before you wrap your arms around him. A weakness. One that’s now very much exposed. Everything had flashed for him when he saw you struggling, it changed everything in his mind. Losing you wasn’t an option.
Jane, Alec, Felix, and Demetri enter with a careful complexity—a planned entrance no doubt. You stand beside Carlisle, where you belong. Watching the Volturi guard’s posture. Everything that they do, or say— or don’t say is an insight into what they are doing here.
“Seems we missed an interesting fight. It’s not often our purpose are rendered necessary.”
“If you’d arrived twenty minutes sooner, you would have fulfilled your purpose.” You feel Jane watching you with force, but you just watch her in return.
“Edward, if the Volturi had known, they would have handled the situation long ago.” You say with care, “Isn’t that right Jane?” She stiffens, bowing her head—you may not be Volturi anymore, but you would be dangerous in opposition to them.
“Seems you missed one.”
“She surrendered.” Carlisle speaks, the girl Brie seeming to be no older than 16. Maybe 17. Too young to be forced into this life.
“The Volturi doesn’t offer second chances. Something Lady Y/N is very familiar with. I’m sure Caius will be interested to know that she’s still human.” You humph, speaking up— Carlisle wants to help this girl, which means you’ll stand with him.
“We’ll take responsibility for her. Teach her control.” But Jane only smirks, her sense of formality going out the window.
“Oh no. You don’t get to give orders.” She grins, “You’re nothing anymore.” You grind your teeth, feeling Carlisle hold onto you tighter— he wouldn’t hold you back physically. They’re testing you. Pushing you. Hoping you’ll throw the first blow.
“Dear Jane…” You force a smile, “I’ll always be more than you. I don’t have a shield and your gift is useless on me. I’ve seen gifts like yours, and they all fail. So please, remember your place.” You weren’t prepared, having forgotten who stands at your side. Carlisle. He drops to the grass on his knees, screaming— “CARLISLE!” You kneel down, cupping his face trying to will away his pain. He cries out and then goes silent, leaning into your body. Breathing heavily.
“Remember what it means to have a mate. It means your heart will always be exposed and I may not be able to hurt you physically, but I will hurt the heart and that’s infinitely better.” You close your eyes, back to Jane as you continue to kneel with him. Suddenly, he stiffens, spine curving as the pain courses through him. No one can say a word.
“I’m so sorry.” You whisper, threats are threats until they turn into action. Brie dies and you remain beside him, with him— Jane teasing just a little bit. Poking at him. Poking at you, every-time you see him wince. “I’ll-” He shakes his head, taking the pain. You just want to end them all, but that’s what Aro wants— a reason to rally a force against you. One that you can’t stand against.
Then they’re gone. You shudder, “I shouldn’t have pushed Jane. She-” It’s Edward who corrects you.
“She’d be planning that before she entered the clearing. She wanted to make you hurt.” You run your thumbs along his cheeks, just as he stands— pressing your forehead against his for a moment before embracing him close.
“Sadistic bitch.” Carlisle laughs, there is strain… He’ll need to hunt, Janes gift can really do a number on someone— you’ve seen her do it time and time again.
Carlisle lies with you on the couch, his back in the arm as you lay on top of him. His fingers tangled in your hair as you sit in silence for hours, these have been a long few days for both of you.
“I wish I could have taken all of your pain.” She doesn’t move, just living in the moment with him.
“I’m glad it was me.” She doesn’t sense deception in his tone. He meant it.
“I could take it though.”
“But if I had to hear you. It would have broken me. I would have ran across that field to Jane right there. I would have gotten us all killed.”
“You wouldn’t.”
“I would. You give me too much credit.” He pauses, “I have resisted many urges. Blood. Even you, but letting you hurt, my only urge would be to end that suffering. By any means.”
“Your family?”
“I like to think I’d prioritize them, but for that second, I wouldn’t think clearly. I know I wouldn’t. You are the only thing that I can’t resist. I can’t keep away from any longer. The only thing that makes set control impossible.”
You don’t say anything for an hour, you’d be asleep if it was physically possible— never having felt that calmness. “You are my Achilles heel. But you are the thing that has given me new life, in this family you built. I have loved you for several centuries, and I plan to love you for all the centuries to come.”
“Marry me?”
“That was quick.”
“You’ve loved me for centuries. As long as I’ve loved you. Marry me? It doesn’t have to be today, or tomorrow, but I want to marry you. Call you my wife.” He pauses, “So marry me…”

Hey, could you do a Marcus x human reader oneshot, where the reader is Marcus's mate, and is scared of being turned into a vampire, leading to them trying to put up a fight when the time comes for them to be bitten?Thank you!
Ooooooo -cracks knuckles. I got chu.
Tumblr media
All was peaceful in the Palazzo. Well... that is till--
"NO I WON'T LET YOU!" Your voice could be heard across the entire Volturi grounds.
Well okay you were with vampires so of course anyone who was undead heard you from the vast Library that you had held yourself up in, holding a dagger to your own neck. Seemed the only way to keep the vampires back as no one would risk harming you and invoking Marcus' wrath. The Kings of Volturi were held up in a difficult Trial, and were being told of the situation. Now was not the best time for a full blown panic attack but here it was. Sulpricia was going to be your maker and mother, and she waited with Athenadora worried and striken behind Jane. "Come now dearling what's the matter you were so excited before what's happened?" Sully called softly.
"Mistress please? Come on let me in I won't bite you--" Jane calls from the other side of the door.
Of all the people-- no one thought that JANE would be the one to be able to get close enough to the door to touch. You had, in fact had a full blown panic realizing today was THE Day. And no one knew why.
It was THE DAY.
You know the day that you had prepped for a year and a half. The day you knew would allow you to be with Marcus you're absolute lovely and darling forever and forever and ever... but here was the thing.
Your bond with Marcus was obscured.
For some odd reason he couldn't see what kind of bond you had. And it FREAKED you out.
You weren't supposed to know this at all, but Caius and his big fucking mouth let it slip the day before and your entire night was filled with what ifs and anxiety despite his reassurances and his desperate attempt to keep Marcus from knowing.
You and Marcus had a tentative friendship that bloomed into something else as the new secretary for a good two years prior to the start of your training for vampire kind-- you were efficient, apologetic and appropriately humble as Caius put it, and quick to fix a mistake and THEN bring it to their attention.
Marcus' infatuation with you-- as you saw it-- Love on his end of the vision-- was probably what kept him between you and impending replacement by snack time via Alec and Jane.
In fact, Marcus had been oh so attentive to you the entire time and finally, plucked you from the human numbers and sat you by his side. But he never talked about the bond that was between you. And on some level, would outright avoid it. Looking stern and that when the time came you'd know.
That did not help. Not one bit. And so here you were, petrified that once turned there would be nothing, that this was-- as Caius had once pointed out about a certain Cullen boy, an infatuation, that you'd be turned and no more to Marcus than Renata, beloved but not his. Your human heart slammed into your ribcage as you inhaled a shuddering sob.
Aro was the first to arrive. Easily moving the "how in the Gods did you move a bookshelf.. filled with books ON YOUR OWN?" He had asked resealing the door noting your obvious terror and flitting over to you.
"NO." You smacked at his marble frame not even noticing the carline fractures it probably caused, but Aro certainly DID.
"Hold still little one." He calmed, and held your arms at length. "Come now." he had his gift under control and you gulped and nodded, throwing yourself into a hug as he pat your hair with one hand and held your free wrist in the other.
"oh little one." You see, there was a reason Sulpricia wanted to change you. She actually saw you as a daughter, and while Aro had changed Jane and Alec, he thought you would make a good big sister to his little brood of gifted children, regardless of if you had one. He had been impressed by your innate nature of care for others including his brother. And he very much like with Jane and Alec doted on you. Said children were peeking from the door having moved the objects easily. "Master?"
"Your big sister is merely frightened." He muttered something about Caius being a dim-wit. "dolcezza, Marcus has not wanted to share with you information because a bond cannot be felt by a human. And to tell you of it may frighten you. But I can assure you, regardless of what kind of bond, Marcus has no intention of leaving you."
There was a rush of air and suddenly you were out of Aro's arms, curled bridal style with a very venom spitting hissing Vampire.
"What did you do to her?" Marcus snarled loudly at the congregating vampires in the hall.
But you were tugging his robe. "It wasn't them..." and so, haltingly you leaned in and whispered the cause of distress. The entire Marcus' face was unreadable, a stoney countenance where only his eyes flicked to the topics of the conversation.
A deep sigh of relief left him. "I see." He gave you a large, doting and soft smile.
"Cara mia," Marcus nuzzled your hair, pulling you into an arm chair and winding you up in a hug, "the reason I do not know much of our bond is that it is not a bond that I have seen at all-- but it is very strong, I will not know more until you are changed. But regardless of what it is-- I shall not leave you alone. You are mine, and I am yours."
Your eyes welled up with tears as you squeezed him as best as your mortal arms could. Tension eased within you. And after a moment he led you back to the bed where you would be set to be changed. Alec had already assured you that he'd make it painless.
It could have been hours, days, minuets, but the blackness finally left you as you opened your eyes to an entire new world.
The Volturi all stood back, wary and ready as you shot upright looking for the voice that called your name in warm dulcet rumbling. "Marcus?"
And then as your eyes collided you felt it.
The world shifted.
A chain binding you to him, unshakable, unmovable, unbendable. A immense feeling of contentment and warmth through your newly strong limbs and body to your heart that did not beat but ached to just to feel the sensation as the man before you gave a blindingly wide smile that finally showed in his gaze. "Hello little love. Come to me, for I have missed you more than life."
His arms open you launched yourself at him enjoying the first moments of your vampire life wrapped in what should have been a crushing embrace, showers of kisses in your hair and across your face as he muttered thanks to whatever Gods thought to bless him with....
an Imprint Bond.

Request: Falling (Alec Volturi x Reader)
WARNING: Gore! Death!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The day had started off so well, peaceful. More peaceful than it had been the past couple of days prior. Yet things went down hill as night fell and seemed to only get worse. Eventually you were told what was happening. The Volturi was under attack.
Aro didn't have to touch Alec to know his thoughts as his gaze fixated on you. He couldn't leave you unprotected but couldn't neglect the leaders. Ultimately, you were sent to be with the wives who were at the very top of the tower, guards standing guard at the entrance.
"Everything will be fine." Athenodora told you as she gripped your arms tightly. "Our husbands will be with us soon. You don't need to fear." Sulpicia added. You nodded but were unable to hold back tears. Athenodora pulled you into her arms, holding you close. Her motherly instinct coming through in your moment of need. Truth be told, the Volturi were ever so slightly more attached to you than regular humans. Not just because you were Alec's mate but also because you were very unlike them. You were completely innocent and it often made vampires wonder just what Alec saw in you considering the two of you were so different. Now if anyone were to question it, Alec would lose his temper considering it an attack on you. It also meant you were very sheltered by the Volturi. You didn't know the details of Alec's past. Only the necessary parts and you knew next to nothing of what he had done over the centuries. Alec wanted it that way, considering it to hurt you more than anything. It wouldn't have been to your benefit.
Before you could be reassured any further, there was loud thuds, one after the other. Athenodora gestured for you to go to the other side of the room. Whatever caught their eye made both Sulpicia and Athenodora hiss and growl. As they moved to maintain their distance, a man, also a vampire, made his way into the room. He had platinum blonde hair and striking red eyes. "Good evening ladies." He smirked, his accent very prominent. He cast a glance to you. "Good evening to you too, little human." You stayed quiet, nervous and something about the man told you that you had every reason to be-even if you don't know those reasons. "I assume you may not know me. I doubt they'd tell you and judging by your face I would be correct." He grinned at you, the grin sinister. "My name is Vladimir and I have some business to attend to with this coven." You trembled in fear as you looked between who you now knew to be Vladimir, Athenodora and Sulpicia. "Shaking like a leaf." Vladimir said to himself, his eyes running up and down your figure. "I wonder if you'd do the same if you knew what those witch twins have done in their wretched existence." "It's alright, sweetheart." Athenodora called out from behind him. "You'll be alright." "Don't say that." Vladimir said softly, over his shoulder. "It's a lie." "They aren't involved in this. Don't hurt them when they are innocent." Sulpicia responded. Vladimir scoffed. "Since when did the Volturi ever care for innocents?" Vladimir said coldly before turning his attention to you once more. "They're involved now. Alec is the one infatuated with you, isn't it? Or was it Jane? I'm quite certain it was Alec." Vladimir was in front of you in moments. You stifled a scream, biting your lips and breathing quickly. Vladimir tilted his head with sympathy, whether it was real sympathy or not, you couldn't be sure. "Poor thing, you'll have a heart attack if you don't calm yourself little one." Vladimir took your face in his hands and you froze. "Come now, deep breaths. I want you aware for what comes next." You did as he asked, simply out of fear of what would happen if you did not. "That's it." He said with a malicious smile. "I must inform you that Alec isn't coming for you. You see, the higher ranked guards have their leaders as priority and their leaders...are only really concerned for their remaining mates. They're going to discover that I've incapacitated their guards protecting their wives." You immediately thought to Afton, Chelsea, Corin and then Renata. Although she must have been with Aro. Vladimir continued. "I have no doubt they'll come in time for them. I can't say the same for you, little one."
A tear ran down your face and Vladimir brushed it away with his thumb. "Are you going to kill me?" You asked quietly between breaths. Vladimir nodded with a hum. You immediately broke out into sobs, terrified of the man who had your head in his hands. Vladimir hushed you softly. "I know, it's not fair. However, if you knew... you'd understand." He walked you back towards the balcony door. "I'm not going to bite you. I'm not going to break your neck. I'm not going to do anything like that. That's too easy and I don't particularly want you to suffer. I want that wretched witch twin to suffer. Although I'm not going to guarantee you a painless death." "Vladimir..." Athenodora called, trying to take his attention from you, a small but desperate attempt to save your life. "I know, even I am struggling to go through with this. That terrified face, a little human who doesn't understand what's happening around them. Even I can feel sympathy." Vladimir said to the wives as he stared into your eyes. "Then don't." Sulpicia said flatly. "You've made your point." "No, I haven't." Vladimir responded. "You took everything from me. I will make you all suffer and those witch twins will know the feeling of what it's like to lose someone you love. When every last one of you are in pieces. Only then, will I have made my point." His face softened once more. "However, I will extend my apologies to you. You seem to be a lovely person but the company you keep...not so much. So you pay the price. That is the way of the world."
Before you could even register what was happening, Vladimir forcefully walked you back before pushing you hard. Your eyes widened, mouth opening with a silent scream as you felt your body topple over the banister. Vladimir turned back to the wives with a smirk. "Do you really think me such a fool that I wouldn't notice Jane slowly getting closer?"
Vladimir was thoroughly enjoying the current predicament. He had both you and the wives in the same room and at his mercy. He would enjoy it for as long as he could. Therefore Jane had to be particularly careful. She couldn't rush there, not when you were there. There was a better chance at keeping all three of you alive if she moved slowly, let him talk as she sneaked closer. However she knew she had to get there before any were hurt. Jane heard your pounding heart and then your sobs when Vladimir made his intentions known. She made it to her room and stilled. This would be the one place she had a good chance at hiding as it was filled with her scent.
From this point onwards, she had to be quick. However she couldn't being herself to move. She looked up towards the ceiling, listening for the tower. Vladimir had moved, as you had and realisation struck. She wouldn't make it in time, not for you. The wives yes, but not you. She couldn't let the panic set in even though she knew it was over. The next thing she knew, you were falling.
Everything went quiet for you, only the wind whistling in your ears as you floated. Maybe if you thought you were floating, it wouldn't be so frightening. Although the thought didn't help because you weren't floating. You were falling. You couldn't even scream, clawing the air as though that would have stopped you. If you didn't move, you'd land head first and if you had to land, then you didn't want it to be on your head.
For Jane, time slowed down as soon as she saw you passing her window. The two of you locked eyes for a moment. Her shocked eyes meeting your terrified ones. There was so much she wanted to tell you in that moment and even more so, she wanted to grab you but couldn't believe her eyes. You were falling too quick and she wouldn't reach you in time.
Time seemed to gain speed once more once you passed the window. All the while Jane rushed to the window, falling to her knees letting out a scream of horror. Her twins mate was falling to their death and she couldn't do anything about it. You had moved, you'd land on your back but suddenly that didn't matter anymore. You knew you wouldn't survive this. You looked up at the sky- trying to ignore how the castle's tower grew taller and taller by the second.
Glass shattering was the next sound to be heard beyond Jane's scream. Demetri and Felix were running towards Jane whilst Alec headed towards the shattering glass. Demetri and Felix rushed into Jane’s room, four stories up the tower. Jane was supposed to be guarding the entrance to the tower and to hear her scream was beyond concerning as well as frightening. The two men found her on her knees, staring at the window. "What-" Demetri couldn't finish his sentence because multiple stories down, Alec's own scream could be heard. "Alec!" Jane screamed as she clutched the floor boards, almost as though in pain. In agony for her twin.
Alec could smell the blood, but didn't think it could be yours. However when he found your body sprawled out across the ground surrounded in glass and covered with cuts and blood. There was more than that though, a small steady pool of blood had began to grow from underneath you. The smell of blood suddenly for overwhelming, along with the shock. He slapped a hand over his mouth and nose, throwing himself against the stone wall behind him. Before he could hold back, Alec let out a gut wrenching, agonized scream.
The receptionist, Carmella, rushed in hearing the commotion. Perhaps it was a foolish thing to do, if anything survival instinct should have told her to run the opposite direction of the screams but they sounds so pained and panicked, with so many other emotions there was surely a list. She gasped, a cry of horror escaping her when she opened the door to see you across the room, sprawled out on the ground, surrounded by glass. A hole in the glass roof where you had fallen through. Carmella turned hearing more cries and screams in the corner. Alec had nearly indented the wall with his attempt to push himself back. His hands covering his nose and mouth but his screaming was so loud that it did nothing to really muffle the screams. Carmella was quick to take off her heels rushing towards you. "Help them!" Alec began to scream. "(Y/N)!" Alec continued to scream and cry as Carmella moved as much glass as she could to allow her room. "They're not breathing!" Alec cried out in hysteria. Carmella was quick to press a finger to her lips, doing her best to calm him despite the scene having her tremble too. "Alec, shh! You need to be quiet, these men are still here!" "Save my (Y/N)!" Alec yelled back. "Alec, you need to stop screaming! I will try to help them but you'll bring them here. Don't scream!" Carmella pleaded.  Alec curled into himself, still in hysterics, but not screaming as much. Mostly talking to himself, begging you not to leave him, inconsolable for his (Y/N). Carmella looked at your lidded eyes, swallowing hard. You were younger than her and to see you lifeless hit her very hard. She put her hands on your chest, pressing down repeatedly. After sometime, stopping to pinch your nose and breathing twice into your mouth. You didn't respond and she repeated the process. "(Y/N), please!" Alec begged. "You can't leave me! Please! Wake up!" Alec took a deep unnecessary breath. "Breathe!" He screamed.
Athenodora looked at Vladimir with disgust but was unable to hide her own grief. "Breathe!" They heard Alec scream. "Now he knows what that feels like." Vladimir said flatly. "Now he knows what that loss feels like." Vladimir smirked slightly. "Maybe he has it worse. Our kind are still alive when ripped to pieces, it's the fire that kills us. Humans are such fragile beings." Athenodora glowered at him. "You chose the easier target, that is all." "No I chose the one you least expected." Vladimir retorted. "You're all so busy protecting yourselves. You would know, you're kept in a tower. That all of you forgot the easier target. I know how much that human means to many of you. Him, no less." Vladimir nodded behind him, talking about Alec. "Aren't they they child you never had?" Vladimir asked, tilting his head. Athenodora glared at him. "You don't know what you're talking about." "I'll admit, they almost had me. That face, filled with fear. They're innocent, I'll give them that much but this world punishes you for the company you keep." Vladimir sighed. "I'll admit expect you two will put up more fight, won't you?" Athenodora and Sulpicia stared him down, they wouldn't show him any fear. They wouldn't give him the luxury. Instead, they looked at him in anger.
"Come back to me!" Alec cried out as Carmella bit her lip, beginning to lose hope. "Breathe!" Alec pleaded. "Please, breathe!" Carmella froze, she could have sworn you moved. "Alec?" Carmella said quickly, feeling for a pulse. However, Alec was too distraught to hear anything. "Alec!" Carmella yelled. It was enough to gain his attention. "Are they breathing? Are the alive!?" Carmella continued to dig around your neck for a pulse when Alec gasped. At the same time Carmella felt it. A faint pulse, but there. "They're... they're alive." Alec said quietly, eyes wide with disbelief. In that time Demetri rushed in. His eyes darted around the room, taking in the scene. "Is there a heart beat!?" It was Carmella's turn to feel hysteria as it slowly built up. "It's...it's still there." Alec said quietly. If he could have cried he would have. The relief, silencing him.  "It won't last long." Demetri ground out before looking to Alec. Alec looked back at Demetri, understanding what Demetri had to do. Alec nodded.  Demetri moved Carmella out of the way. "Carmella, leave. Get out of here." Demetri ordered and she did.  Demetri moved your head to the side, biting your neck, moving your head to the other side before biting your neck again. He took both of your wrists, biting each. "I can't do anymore. I won't be able to stop." Alec nodded. "Four should be enough."
Carmella broke out into a run before being face to face with Stefan. She screamed before Stefan roughly grabbed her by the neck. "You are interfering." Stefan snarled before biting into Carmella's neck and pulling back, taking any flesh latched against his teeth with him. Carmella immediately began to choke, as Stefan dropped her to the ground. Alec and Demetri heard the commotion. With a newfound calm Alec turned to Demetri with a dark look in his eyes. "Get them out of here." Demetri understood. Alec couldn't take you away from here, the smell of your blood being too much. Demetri's gaze flickered to the door. It seemed Alec had other ideas. Demetri nodded, scooping you up.
Alec marched down the hall, seeing red, everywhere he went. Before him was Carmella, choking on her own blood. He bent down. "Thank you." Alec said without emotion. "I am grateful for all you have done to save my (Y/N). I'll make this easier for you." Alec took Carmella's head in his hands as she continued to choke, but maintained eye contact with him. He twisted quickly with ease as and loud snap erupted.  With ease, Alec stood up once more, hunting down every last one who was responsible for your possible demise. Alec wasn't stupid, you were still in danger, you had to survive the change and whilst that was still to be known, the hurt and rage he felt continued to build.
"Jane, have you fed?" She heard Demetri demand as he marched down the hall. "Yes." She opened the door, meeting Demetri with your limp body. She let out a choked gasp. "Are they...?" "I had to. They had already died once." Demetri said quickly and Jane swallowed, remembering your eyes locking with hers as you fell. "Will you stay with them?" Demetri asked as he put you on the bed. "Yes. You go. Make them suffer for this." Jane said firmly. "I won't lie to you, Jane." Demetri said, turning to meet her gaze. "If Alec gets to them first, there won't be much left."
Aro, Caius, Marcus, Renata, Santiago and other guards burst through the tower doors. Immediately, Caius and Aro grabbed their wives, pulling them behind them. Vladimir simply grinned, raising a finger. "Can you hear it? The agony of losing a mate?" They all could, Alec's screams, Jane's agony for her twin. Vladimir turned to Marcus specifically. "You and I know that pain better than anybody." Marcus glowered at him. He could tolerate being the cause of misery for many, he had taken many mates from others but seeing his mates killer before him, grinning at the loss of Alec's mate was something that filled him with rage. Yet he did not move. Vladimir was alone and with them and if the Volturi had anything to say about it, he wouldn't be leaving alive. "I have a whole castle to my disposal so, stick together is my advice." Within seconds Vladimir jumped over the same balcony you had, in the other side from which you fell and landed on the roof. Then he was gone.
"Santiago, help Afton, Chelsea and Corin." Aro said lowly. "Dear ones, we best find a safe place...for now." The group had moved to Jane's room, where Demetri was just about to take his leave. This was the safest place they could be, Jane being one of their greatest weapons. Athenodora smoothed back your hair, kneeling at your bedside. "You're going to be alright sweetheart." She said quietly. Her eyes ran over your broken, bruised and bloodied body as the group were updated on what happened to you after the fall. Demetri explained he was the one to change you, biting four times but it was the self control he had left. Aro wasn't entirely certain it would be enough considering the amount of damage you had taken. Nearly all of your bones were broken and the venom needed to travel throughout your body before your heart gave up for a second time. "Let me." Jane said suddenly, from the other side of you from Athenodora. "Let me match the number of Demetri's bites." "Jane, your self control isn't as refined as Demetri's, even if you have just fed. Can you be certain you could stop four times?" Marcus responded. Jane hesitated. "I have to try. I can't let them...they can't die." She whispered. "Do as much as you can." Athenodora said firmly, reaching for Jane's hand. "I'll take over if I need to." "Athen-" Caius spoke up but she cut him off. "Caius, if you don't support my decision then do so but keep it to yourself. (Y/N) will be one of us and I refuse to lose another person I loved to the Romanians, to anyone." The group knew immediately she was talking about Didyme. Athenodora had struggled greatly when Didyme died. She had lost a sister and it nearly broke her. When the twins introduced you to her, she loved you immediately. Something about you drew you in and made her feel protective of you. Whenever Caius gave you a hard time, as he did everyone, Athenodora would shut him down on it immediately. She was the only person who could. However Caius, knew you were different to Athenodora, you weren't her sister. Athenodora couldn't help but look at you as though you were her child. Filling the motherly role you had since lost when being brought into the vampire world by Alec. It came so naturally that it even rubbed off on Caius ever so slightly. He was harder on you not just because you were human but because he cared. Almost taking the fatherly role but refusing it with every fibre of his being. Yet no matter how much he tried, his intentions were always in your best interest. No matter how hard on you he was.
Caius sighed, moving to his wife's side on the floor before looking to Jane. "If it's too much, you stop. We'll take over." Jane nodded, looking at you one last time before leaning towards your shoulder. Jane managed two bites, cursing herself for her poor self control. Whilst Aro reminded her that it takes more self control to change someone in such a condition, if anything it showed how much self control she could find within herself. As Aro reassured Jane, Caius and Athenodora nodded to one another before she bit down.  Athenodora hadn't changed anyone before despite being one of the oldest vampires in existence. She reeled back trying to focus on you rather than your blood in her mouth, mixed with venom. Caius gripped her hand, silently questioning her. She squeezed his hand. She just needed to do it one more time. He nodded to her, silently promising he would help her. They managed to match the number of Demetri's bites, four turning to eight on various places of your body. It was rare to have more than one vampires venom. Although it meant that if anyone had attachments to the Volturi, it was you. You had Athenodora's vemon, attaching you to her, as well as Caius by extension. Demetri's venom and Jane's venom. Whilst it wasn't Alec's venom, Jane was his biological twin. It was the next best thing. You were their responsibility.
Usually someone would be thrashing in agony. They couldn't help but wonder why you were still but your heart pounding almost out of your chest, stronger than ever. Aro and Marcus came to the realisation before anyone else.  Almost all of your bones were broken, you wouldn't have been able to move. Alec turned to be met with Demetri and Felix. Their eyes turning black by the second but nothing close to Alec's completely pitch black ones. "Need a hand?" Felix smirked, eager for the hunt and fight almost immediately. "As we speak, Afton and Santiago are making their way towards us. Renata, Corin and Chelsea are with the masters. (Y/N) is in good hands." Before Alec could respond Afton and Santiago had arrived. "They're going to suffer." Alec said through a clenched jaw. "Damn right." Felix grinned and Alec appreciated how quickly Felix had agreed. Alec turned to Demetri. "You know where they are?" It was Demetri's turn to smile as he nodded. "Then let's go get them." Afton spoke up. "Make them hurt." "You're not usually the type to encourage violence." Felix smirked at Afton. Afton looked at Felix. "Vladimir took Chelsea's head off before me. He's given me just as much of a reason as he has Alec. As far as I see it, doing that to (Y/N) was more than enough for brutality. I'm more than happy to assist for my Chelsea." Felix clapped Afton on the shoulder. "Good man. We'll show 'em not to mess with our mates."
"We need to move their head." Marcus noted softly, looking at you. It was clear your neck was healing judging by the bones beginning to knit together once more, less jutting out and threatening to break the skin. Marcus delicately moved your head that had moved to the side and held it straight. With a pop, the venom swarmed the remaining broken areas. It's success was heard when a broken pained exhale passed through your nose. Marcus carefully let go, allowing your now completely healed neck to rest.  “It's their spinal cord, just under their skull." Marcus answered Athenodora's silent questioning as to what the popping had been. "What about the back of their head?" Sulpicia asked. "They're laying on it and..." She trailed off. Judging by the look on Athenodora's face, she struggled to finish the sentence. That your head was caved in and bloody from the back. "It'll be fine, my dear." Aro reassured his mate. "The venom will fix it. It may just take a little longer." "I want to make them hurt." Jane ground out, gaining the attention of the rest of the group. She glared at the wall, jaw clenched tightly. "You must stay with us, dear one." Aro responded. "Your brother has this handled. You know him. Those two will have hell to pay." Marcus added. "The look in (Y/N)'s eyes as they fell. They were terrified. They looked at me and I couldn't do anything to stop it." Jane continued somewhat weakly. Athenodora rose from her chair to Jane's side and pulled her in. Athenodora kissed the side of Jane's head delicately. "You did everything we could have ever expected you to. (Y/N) knows that. There was nothing you could have done. Don't torment yourself so." Jane stared at you from her own seat as Athenodora cradled Jane as best she could standing up.  "After all these years, the Romanians still don't understand one simple thing." Caius said. "What's that?" Jane asked. "That they might win some battles but the Volturi always win the war." Caius said with ease.
Stefan was fast but Afton was faster. Afton had him by the neck, turning visible once more. "You've made quite a mistake coming here." Santiago said from behind Stefan. "Ready to pay the price?" Felix asked, grinning widely. "You did it to yourselves." Stefan responded before swiping at Afton. "What was it Vladimir said up at the tower again?" Felix asked. "Anyone recall?" "I believe the words were 'you seem to be a lovely person but the company you keep- not so much. So you must pay the price.' " Santiago responded. " 'That is the way of the world.' " Demetri added. "So you'll understand what comes next, won't you?" Felix grinned. The group lunged at Stefan.
Sulpicia was the first to make comment on the brutality they could hear. Tearing, ripping, snarls, growls and groans as well as many thuds of footsteps and likely bodies hitting the ground. "Such brutality..." She said as though considering the sounds to be impolite. As though higher than what was happening. "Good." Athenodora said darkly. "I hope they do more."
Stefan was covered in cracks, his limbs jutting out in odd angles, some nearly torn from him completely. Alec kneeled down, his knee going on Stefan's chest who groaned as he felt the cracks along his chest get pushed in further, threatening to tear more. "I'm going to make you both hurt. Just as (Y/N) did. I will break every bone and just when you think I'm done. You'll realise it's only the beginning."
After staring at you for some time, Athenodora rose from her seat once more. Immediately going to Jane's bathroom with a random bowl shaped decoration, she turned on the tap, filling it with warm water. "What are you doing, my love?" Caius called out to her. She re-emerged with the bowl and a towel. "Getting some of the blood out of their hair. When they wake up, the last thing we need is to either scare them or having them try feed from their own blood." Athenodora said firmly. "Jane, might I use your comb?" Jane nodded immediately grabbing it and moving towards Athenodora. Sulpicia sighed with reluctance. "Very well, I'll get the other side." She went into the bathroom and returned with another towel. "Are you dividing each section and working through?" Sulpicia asked. "Yes." Athenodora said quietly, already focused on the section she had. She was delicate with her tactic. She started at the bottom of your hair and worked her way up to the roots, wetting the comb every so often as red smeared the crisp white towel. Caius couldn't help but be in awe of his wife as always. He was certain no one had even considered taking the blood out of your hair the whole time yet she was the first. "We're going to have to clean them properly when we can move them." Sulpicia said. "One thing at a time." Athenodora said quietly, swallowing hard. "Right now we just need to get the blood out."
Alec gripped Stefan's head by his hair bringing it to eye-level. "I'm not done with you yet, you're coming with us." Afton looked at the scattered limbs across the room that were covered in cracks, including Stefan's face. "What do you want to do with these?" He asked. Alec cast a glance to the limbs too. "Leave them. They aren't going anywhere." The guards moved down the hall once more Alec having Stefan's head on proud display. "We're close." Demetri said quietly. Alec gripped Stefan's head tightly. He felt the rage build up in him and everyone knew exactly what was coming next.
The guards were in an intense stare down with Vladimir. "You understand now, don't you? The pain you caused." "I took people from you." Alec said stoically. "I understand that." Alec lifted the head to Vladimir's line of sight. "I took another from you." Vladimir hissed, angered by the sight. "Or at least I will." Alec said before he tossed the head towards Vladimir. His eyes narrowed on Vladimir, his jaw tight. "You took my human from me." Alec began. "Maybe they'll survive this and be fine after this night but no matter how this ends- I'll never see my little human again." Alec's jaw twisted. "You hurt my mate and I will rip you limb from limb and make you suffer for it. You think I was bad back then? Well, you're about to face your worst nightmare. That was nothing! Nothing compared to what I will do now!" Alec began to hysterically scream, the other guards just barely catching up to him when he lunged at Vladimir.
Demetri was the first to enter Jane’s room. "It's over." He said, confirming everyone's speculations. Everything had gone quiet after a long time of hearing Alec's constant screams. When it finally stopped, they couldn't help but think the Romanians were no more. The others followed through. Alec's eyes were pitch black and immediately moved to you on the bed. "For a second I thought Alec was going to put the Romanians back together with the other's limbs as well as a mix of their own. Neither of them went peacefully." Felix said. "They burn as we speak." Demetri said. Afton was next to move heading towards Chelsea, his hands cradling her face and inspecting her.
Even after the rest left, Jane, Alec, Demetri and Felix remained with you. "What if they aren't...what if they won't...?" Alec trailed off unable to say the words. "Who knows if they hear us but...we have to think they'll survive. They will. They have to." Jane responded. After a moment of silence, Jane looked to her brother. "Talk to them. It'll help the two of you."  "Despite my appearance, I'm old (Y/N). So very old. You asked me how old I was when I was changed and I couldn't answer you. That's always been the one question my sister and I could never answer. We had forgotten any kind of clue to help us figure it out. Although it doesn't matter. I've been on this earth so very long. So if you could please just, save me a broken heart and survive this." Alec pressed your cold hand into his cheek tightly but still reminding himself to be gentle. "You're young. You- you need to survive this. I have seen some wicked things, oh, but sweet-face the beautiful things I have seen over so many years. I want to you to see it. Even more so I want you more selfishly for myself. I can't imagine continuing this existence without you. You have given me the most wonderful time I have ever had. I want more." Alec let out a short pained laugh. "I know you said you weren't fond of becoming a vampire but there are less extreme ways to go about it." Alec pressed a kiss to your hand, squeezing his eyes shut. "I know you're not that opposed though." He said quietly. "You promised me remember? You promised me I could keep you."  “They’ll make it, Alec.” Demetri assured him. “This is (Y/N). They’re one of the strongest humans we know.” Alec’s eyes drifted to Demetri. “They died already. I felt it, the pain of losing them and I can’t help but think it’s only the beginning.”  “It isn’t, we got them back.”  “Now they’re fighting for their life once again.” Felix cracked a smile. "That's love for you." He said simply, catching Alec, Demetri and Jane’s attention. “What?” Alec said in confusion.  "Funny thing I've noticed about humans, if they love you, they'll always come back to you." Felix smiled before meeting Alec’s eyes. “Believe me, (Y/N) will pull through.” Felix raised his index finger. “You can hear it.” They could. They could hear your heart pounding fast as the venom coursed through your body. “You’re right, (Y/N) died after that fall. However, we got them back and right now i am willing to bet that human is fighting with everything they have to wake up and come back to us.”
The twins lowered you into the tub, in a sitting position but your back propped against the end of the bath. Allowing clear access for Alec to see the back of your head. He immediately faltered. "I can do this alone if you like?" Jane offered. Seeing her brothers black eyes with his face contorted as though pained by the sight and he was. Seeing your now healed head and remembering how it was previously as well as the large amount of blood dried into the back of your head was painful. Alec shook his head. "No, I'll help. It's healed. It's only the aftermath." Alec responded, mostly reminding himself. He grabbed the shampoo, pouring a large amount into his hand. Carefully, he rubbed it into your head. He'd never done this before but he couldn't consider this a positive first time given your condition. The white liquid began to foam and then redden by the second. Alec continued to work his fingers through your hair and scalp. As Alec dealt with your head, Jane got a damp cloth running it over the bite marks on your neck. She paused hearing her brother swallow down a moan of pain. She looked towards him. "There's still some glass...in their head." He managed out weakly. Jane said nothing at first, the venom should have pushed the glass out as it passed through healing any breaks in the skin. Although those remaining must have been dug in deep. "I don't want to hurt them." Alec said. "Brother, they're already in pain." Jane said weakly seeing how this tortured her brother. "The wounds will close immediately after." She reassured him as she stood up, digging for tweezers. She had never used them, never had the need for them yet she was glad she had them in that moment. Neither twin fond of the thought of digging into your head with their fingers. "Let me." She said quietly as Alec moved to give his sister some room. Her movements were delicate and quick four tiny pieces of glass removed quickly and effectively. However the two stared at the small pieces before looking at one another. Alec inspected your scalp, brushing the hair around. Where the glass had been imbedded. "No blood." He confirmed, his eyes widened slightly. That was a very good sign. Jane nodded with a small smile. "They're already closing up." Jane moved back to the side of the tub and Alec once more focused on your head. "I'll need to take their clothes off." Jane sighed. "We got anywhere we could reach at the time." Alec nodded. "I'll lift their head. Whilst you remove their shirt." If it had been anyone else, a comment would have been made about Alec seeing you topless. However, the twins could be significantly more mature about that than Felix. The one that was most likely to make such a comment. Thankfully, Felix had kept his distance...mostly thanks to Demetri who had him preoccupied.
"They've begun to lose their colour." Jane said. "I thought so too, sister." Alec replied. The blood washed away from the bites with ease, leaving small prick-like dark holes that would be closing and change colour soon enough.
Alec carried you back to the bed as Jane fixed the pillows. Gently, Alec lay you down. "There, that's better." Alec said, relieved that no longer had you been covered in dried blood. A gruesome reminder of what had happened to you. "We should go and feed now." Jane said, taking her brothers hand before he could consider refusing.
A day passed. Alec's eyes widened as your head moved slightly. Your breathing had started to slow, your body forgetting the constant need to breathe. The movement wasn't rigid and forced out of you like movements and moans had been out of the agony. This movement looked more willing and peaceful. A soft exhale passing through your nose.
When you woke up, it was Demetri and Felix's job to get you fed before Alec could even see you. He understood of course but Alec couldn't help the need to see you again. His gaze snapped towards any footsteps that neared throughout the eight hours you had been awake. Alec felt hopeful when Demetri returned. "Ah, you have returned, dear one." Aro smiled. "I trust (Y/N)'s first feeding was a success?" Demetri nodded. "They aren't driven constantly by the next meal but their control is as much as can be expected." His eyes moved to meet Alec's. "Someone really wants to see you." He smiled slightly, aware of Alec's emotions. "Bring them in." Aro said warmly. "Reunions can be such happy times." Demetri nodded at the permission.
Felix entered, with you beside him. His eye was on you constantly, as everyone knew was necessary. However you didn't seem remotely bothered. Actually, it was as if you didn't know he was there. Your eyes immediately locking on Alec's. Alec broke formation immediately walking up to you. You looked at him in adoration, with new eyes, now bright red, seeing every little detail of him and seemingly, falling in love all over again. It was strange not hearing a heartbeat, or feeling warmth radiate off of you as Alec had grown accustomed to. He didn't want to startle you in any way, remembering you were still a newborn. You smiled at him brightly. When you reached out for him, he couldn't take it anymore. Against better judgement he quickly pulled you into him, his forehead against yours. His hands cradled your head as you continued to smile at him. Your own hands reaching up to cover his. He couldn't talk, emotions overwhelming him into silence whilst you seemed too focused on him to actually say anything. A few of the Volturi in the room couldn't help but smile at the scene. They knew how much Alec struggled and to see have you back with them, smiling when they thought you wouldn't make it was very much the happy ending Aro had always been so fond of.

Felix’s POV:
I was running around the castle, searching for (Y/N). It was training day, and she was late. We had a specific schedule to follow and she knew when we had training. Demetri couldn’t find her, he couldn’t catch her tenor. So, I asked him to train the others on his own, as I ran around the castle, looking for her.
I couldn’t catch her scent, and I was scared she left again. It was early afternoon, and the sun was still out, so none of us could go out of the castle just yet. I ran to the secretary. She was delighted to see me, maybe too delighted, but I paid her no attention. I only ordered her to go out and look for (Y/N); she was most likely wandering around Volterra.
I made sure the secretary left and I continued running around the castle. A thought just crossed my mind, and I ran towards the garage, which was actually an underground extension of the castle that allowed us to leave outside of the town's walls, without getting noticed.
There were over 60 cars in total occupying the garage; the Masters had 4 each, although it was mostly Renata driving them around; (Y/N) had 3 cars of her own; Chelsea shared her 3 cars with Afton; the Twins had 3 cars each; Corin, Demetri, Renata, Heidi and I each had 2 cars of our own. The rest of the cars were either used as replacements or by the other guards, who would either have one car each or would share one car among a few of them. These were less impressive cars, showing their status within the Guard.
I looked around to find (Y/N)’s section; that’s how we divided the cars between each other. We each had a section in the garage where we would leave the cars, something like a designated parking spot. I was taken aback, but I was not surprised either: one of (Y/N)’s cars was indeed missing.
Now, there was no way that anyone else took it; we all knew not to mess with each other’s belongings. Of course, that wouldn’t apply between mates; whatever I had was (Y/N)’s, and whatever she had was mine. But I didn’t take her car, more specifically, her favorite car out for a drive.
So, it was her. She took her car out, which could only mean that she didn’t go around the area, or that she went somewhere sparsely populated. We only took the cars when we had to go somewhere with many people around, so as not to draw suspicions about our kind.
I was growing anxious and irritated; she didn’t tell me, or anyone else, where she went or why, and I was terrified of anything happening to her. I was aware, and she told me plenty of times, that she could handle anything herself, but that still didn’t make it better. I openly swore to her that I would protect her ever since she woke up from her comatose state. I was scared that anything could happen to her.
After all, she was still mortal, way more mortal than she was a vampire. She was skillful and powerful and fearless, but she was still mortal. She needed her sleep, she needed her human food, she had human needs. To my eyes, she was still vulnerable because of it; she had her Achilles’ heel, whether that was her mortality or even me. She could easily be a target for other vampires, most likely enemies of the Volturi.
I decided I would wait for her to come back. I took a seat near the entrance and waited, and waited. It was late at night by now, and she was nowhere to be seen. A few moments later, I heard the massive wooden entrance door open and close one floor above me, and heels clicking against the stone path.
I smelled the scent - bellflower, tangerine, vanilla, sandalwood. (Y/N). She took careful steps down the stairs and walked in my direction. She looked exhausted, and she subtly smelled of blood. Human blood.
“I was hungry.” She simply said, with a look of sadness, her usually bright eyes now sunk and empty. I didn’t say anything, I didn’t ask any questions; I just hugged her tightly and took a deep breath of her scent. I missed her. I was scared for her. I couldn't lose her. She was the only thing that mattered to me right now. I wanted to keep her here, where she was safe and protected by everyone.
“So, I guess, no training for today, huh?” I broke the silence, while I still held her in my arms.
She shook her head lightly. “I’ve not been feeling well these past few days.”
I backed away. “Why? How are you feeling? Is it something human?”
“Do you want to walk to the gardens?” She stretched her hand towards me and I carefully took it in mine. She didn’t say anything else, she just led us both to the gardens. The night was cool and warm at the same time, the primroses’ smell enchanting. She sat down on a bench, and I sat beside her.
“I have to talk to you.” Her voice was trembling. “In private, if you don’t mind.” I nodded, and she moved her hand between us, creating a dome-shaped shield. I was confused.
“It’s soundproof. I don’t want anyone to hear us.” I nodded once again. “I went to Rome today.” My mouth slightly opened to ask her why. “It is something human. I suspected something, but I had to check for myself, to be sure.”
Tears started falling down her face, and I wiped them away with my free hand, stroking her face lightly, and her leaning to my touch. My undead heart shattered at the sight of her crying and revived when I saw she still craved my touch, after all this time.
“I just have to ask you first.” She paused. “If I wanted to run away, away from Volterra, away from the Volturi, would you come with me?”
Her question took me back. (Y/N) was the most precious thing I had in my life. I would give up anything for her. But leaving the Volturi, leaving the Guard, leaving our friends was not something I was sure I could do, not without thinking it clearly.
“It’s okay, you don’t have to make a decision now, or ever. I just wanted to know what you would do in the case I wished to leave in the future. You don’t have to worry about it. I am not going anywhere.” She grabbed my face and kissed me roughly, making me dismiss any worries I may have had by now, as I responded to the kiss. She pulled away and kept looking me lovingly in the eyes.
We stood up from the bench and walked inside, towards our rooms. “I will go to the kitchen, grab a few blood bags. Do you want some?” She smiled at me. Yes, please, her voice echoed in my head. She pecked my lips and walked towards her room. I ran to the kitchen and saw nobody around. I opened the fridge, took about 10 bags, and ran out towards (Y/N)’s room.
She must have not noticed me as I caught her looking at herself in the mirror. She was focused on her uncovered belly. I swore it was a bit..swollen? She looked at her belly and softly rubbed it. Could she..? I closed the door behind me, running towards her desk to place the bags, and then ran towards her. She looked at me, pale as chalk as if she saw a ghost.
“How much did you see?” Her voice echoed in my head.
I didn’t answer. I just put my hand on her belly; she shivered at the touch. I felt a small, rapid heartbeat under my palm. I looked at her.
“Is that..?” I couldn’t complete my thought.
“Yes, that’s why I went to Rome. I had a doctor’s appointment. I’m sorry I couldn’t tell you.” I stood there, looking between her face and her belly.
I didn’t know what to say, so I hugged her. This time more loosely, as I was scared of hurting the baby. “You won’t hurt them. You can hug me properly.” I laughed at her comment and hugged her more tightly.
“Does this mean you are okay with it?”
“Okay? I’m more than okay. You know how I used to love children. Being a vampire may have made me cold and indifferent, but having a baby with you is the greatest thing that has ever happened in my life. Besides you.”
We pulled away, still in each other’s arms, and smiled at each other, before I kissed her. “We cannot tell anyone about it, at least till it feels okay.” She said worryingly.
“Don’t worry, amore mio. Nobody needs to know just yet. Now, come, the blood will go sour.” I took the bags off the desk and passed 8 of them to her. She looked confused. “You’re drinking for two, now.” I reminded her and she laughed before she leaned in and kissed me.
----------------------------------------------------------
I had been practically dancing around the castle the past few days. I couldn’t contain my happiness any longer. I was going to be a father! (Y/N) was going to be a mother! We were going to have a baby! A beautiful little baby. I hoped they looked after her. I hoped they had her luscious (Y/H/C) hair. I hoped they had her beautiful (Y/E/C) eyes. I sighed. I mostly hoped both the baby and (Y/N) were healthy.
She told me she had been feeling off the last few weeks. Her mood changed a lot during the past week. She had been feeling sick and would throw up a lot. She would get easily irritated and I had to make sure she didn’t hurt herself or the baby. She had also been consuming A LOT of human blood, and I now had to make sure she was always fully fed.
So, I would usually bring her a few humans every day to feed on. Sometimes, when she was feeling trapped inside the castle and suffocated, I took her out hunting. I wouldn’t let her hunt too much, as I was worried about the baby, but I would mostly hunt for her, and then, when she was fed, I took her out on long walks, to calm her down, to talk, to just be away from others. Those were our most precious and sacred moments, when (Y/N) and I could forget about anything and anyone, and just focus on us three.
She had been a lot more anxious lately about others catching up to our secret. She didn’t want anyone to know about our baby yet. So, I had to put extra effort not to shout it from the rooftops.
A baby, a new life, meant so many possibilities. (Y/N) and I were so in love with each other, but a baby was a new kind of love we got to share and experience. I always loved kids. They had so many possibilities, so many things to do and experience. They could overcome anything and did not have to repeat the same mistakes that the generations before them made.
Kids were a new hope for a better world. I knew (Y/N) would fight even more, for our baby to have a good and happy life; one that neither of us did. I could only stand beside her and help her however I could. I knew I didn't have the privilege of experiencing the pregnancy firsthand, but I would do everything to be as close to my mate and child as I could.
If it came down to me, we would have been married by now, but for (Y/N), it didn’t matter. Mates were meant to be together. Marriage or no marriage - it would not make any difference for us. We would always be one and nothing would tear us apart. Well, that’s how it was supposed to be.
Practically, (Y/N) did not like the idea of staying here. She was worried about our child living through what she did with Aro. She didn’t want our child to be used by Aro for his own plans, just like she was used, just like her mom was used before she broke free from the Volturi.
(Y/N) eventually told me that her parents were forced to give her up; they didn’t quite abandon her, but they gave her away to the Volturi by force. She didn’t want our baby to end up like her; she didn’t want to just hand it out to Aro. I promised her I would do anything for her and our baby to be safe.
Once again, she told me she wanted to leave Volterra, to protect all of us. She said we could move in with Carlisle and his family for a while, before settling down somewhere else. I was honest with her - I didn’t like change and I didn’t know how it would be for her to travel such a long distance.
I didn’t know what it was like raising a hybrid baby, but I was pretty sure that she could not risk getting too tired anymore. She was actually getting exhausted more easily by now, and she would sleep a lot more than usual, feeling extremely hungry the moment she woke up, having to be fed immediately. I would constantly try to store and reserve as many blood bags as possible for her to have at all times, which started becoming suspicious among the other vampires.
I was currently walking down the corridors of the castle, head in the clouds thinking about (Y/N). I thought there would be no way I could love her more than I did right now, but somehow the baby, our baby, made me love her so much more if that was even possible. I was smiling widely to myself, not noticing if anyone was standing around me.
“What’s got you smiling like that?” Demetri’s voice interrupted my thoughts.
“Uh, nothing in particular. You know, just (Y/N), like always.” It wasn’t a lie. I did think about (Y/N), like I did most of my days.
“Is she okay?” Demetri asked with genuine concern, but I did not see that.
“Why are you asking? Why do you care? What do you know?” I snapped at him, and he was taken aback by the sudden change in my attitude.
He raised his hands in front of him, in a way to defend himself. “Nothing, Felix, I don’t mean anything bad. I was just worried for her, as her friend. She doesn’t seem like herself lately. She has been sleeping a lot more than usual, and she’s been drinking human blood. I’m only asking as her friend, Felix. I am only her friend.”
He was repeating “I’m only her friend”, while in defense. I looked at him, and my face dropped. I didn’t mean to scare him, or attack him, or harm him. I was just on the edge about others knowing. I did want to tell our friends about it, but (Y/N) didn’t, and we knew that if our friends knew, it would be a matter of time before the Masters knew, and that was something neither (Y/N), nor I wanted to happen.
“I’m sorry I snapped at you. I’ve been kind on the edge lately, and I’m not really thinking straight.” I told him, honestly.
As time passed, we were on edge; we had to decide what we would do before (Y/N) started showing off. Wearing baggy clothes could not be an option for her. Even behind the closed, cold walls of the castle, the summer’s heatwaves had been quite unbearable for all of us, so I couldn't imagine how it would be for (Y/N).
Pregnant or not, (Y/N)’s own body could not adjust as well to temperatures as ours did. She felt extremely cold in the winter, which did not affect us in the slightest, being the same temperature and all. Then, in the summer, when we felt the heat, but not as badly, because we were able to adjust due to our cold skin, (Y/N) would be suffering because she was already hot - pun intended - and couldn’t take her mind off of it.
So, it was either we left Volterra altogether, or we stayed and told everyone. In the first scenario, (Y/N) would be calmer and in more control of her life and our baby’s, but I would constantly be on edge, afraid of her getting hurt, afraid of how our lives would change after our departure. We didn’t know what would happen to us. If we were to be chased by the guards, it would put (Y/N) and the baby in extreme danger, and I dreaded that.
In the second scenario, we would all be safe under the guards’ and Masters’ protection, but (Y/N) would be on the edge constantly, afraid of what would happen to the baby first, and then herself. Most likely, she would be forced to stay here, to be closer to us, to be closer to the baby, which Aro was most likely going to claim, in hopes of creating another powerful hybrid vampire.
“Is she okay?” Demetri pushed the question once again.
“Not really, I wouldn’t say she’s perfectly fine. She..She’s actually coming down with a cold. Yes, that’s it, a cold. Her nose is stuffed, she is coughing, you know, the usual stuff of a cold.”
“Felix, it’s the middle of the summer. How did she catch a cold?” Demetri was looking at me suspiciously, his eyebrow raised as he was studying my face to detect the lie.
“I don’t really know, Demetri. Humans! They go out once and they catch a cold!” I continued my improv. I didn’t know if I was actually good at lying or if Demetri just pretended he believed me.
“Okay then. Wish her a “Get well soon” from me, will you?” Demetri asked as he turned on his heels and left in the opposite direction.
“I will.” I shouted a bit in his direction before I started running back to (Y/N)’s room.
I opened the door and closed it quickly behind. I heard (Y/N) faintly sniffling in the bathroom. I ran towards the bathroom door, and I tried to open it, but it wouldn’t budge. She had locked it.
“(Y/N)? Amore? Please, open the door, baby. I can’t bear the thought of you being unwell. Please, open up.”
I heard her moving slightly around, and opening the bathroom door hesitantly. Then, I saw her figure, laying on the bathroom floor. Her face and eyes were puffy from crying, lost somewhere else, as if she had no connection with the world around her. She was hugging her own figure, trying to calm herself down.
I lifted her blouse slightly and noticed big blue and purple bruises all over her swollen belly, which had recently started showing. Something inside me shattered. (Y/N) was in a great deal of pain, the baby already harming her physically - because, although we were both happy with having a baby, the whole scenario was already draining (Y/N) mentally. I tried to hug her lightly, applying no pressure to her already fragile body. She winced slightly, and I tried to move away, but she didn’t let me go.
“Baby? I know it is not my position to say anything about it, but, are you sure about this pregnancy? I hate seeing you like this. The baby seems to be hurting you more than benefiting you in any way.”
She froze at my words. “Papino (daddy). I do want our baby. Besides, that is, more or less, the course of a human pregnancy. If you disregard the huge bruises, every woman gets harmed in a way or another, when carrying a baby. But, it is going to be the most rewarding feeling in the whole world. Just think about having a little Felix or (Y/N). That is not something you can put a price on.” She was stroking my face lightly, reassuring me that everything would be alright.
It seemed to be working because I felt calmer by the second. I sighed deeply. It was time to tell her what I decided. I didn’t know how to begin. I was afraid of her fragile physical and mental health, but I thought it would be better to just get over with it now, rather than later.
“(Y/N), I have made my decision. I thought about it a lot, and I think it would be our best option, at least for now.” She was looking deeply into my eyes, a mix of impatience, eagerness, and anxiety on her face. I couldn’t look at her straight in the eyes, so I just let my gaze fall on the floor between our feet.
“I think it would be better for us if we stayed here.” I heard her gasping a bit, probably not being able to believe what I just said. “Before you say anything, let me explain. I thought about it well enough. In case we actually leave Volterra, there is a high chance of us getting hunted down by the other guards, possibly the Masters as well. I don’t know how well I can protect you by then.”
She went to open her mouth and reply, but I stopped her. “Before you say you can protect yourself, need I remind you that you’ve been feeling way more exhausted and hungry than before? Your body is going through this pregnancy all the way in, and it takes up most of your energy. I would have to be beside you all the time, and I don’t know if I will be able to do that efficiently.”
“So, you think that staying here, here, in the castle, with all those vampires around, with ARO around, would be the best option for a hybrid baby? A baby that would most likely be partially mortal? A baby that would have blood running through their veins? A baby that Aro will have no hesitation to groom around his own perceptions and rules, and create a vampire who could possibly turn out to become more vicious than anyone around here? Is that what you want for our baby?” (Y/N) was furious at this point, her eyes a dark amber, with a hint of burgundy prominent at this point.
“I know that that is not what you want for our baby, but, just think about it. We would still have everything here, we would not have to worry about our baby, and you will be here with all of us, with Demetri, Jane, Alec, Chelsea, Heidi… We will not let Aro teach our baby anything more than what you want them to be taught. You will also be able to teach them everything they may need. No one will ever dare to come close to you or the baby as long as we are all here. You don’t know what you may come across outside of this castle. We all have huge targets on our backs, and now, you seem to be the most vulnerable of all of us. I don’t want you or the baby paying someone else’s price. Just promise me you will consider it.”
She sighed deeply, closing her eyes for a while. After a few minutes, she spoke again. “Okay, I promise, I will consider it.”
“Thank you, baby. You make me the happiest man alive.” I leaned forward to peck her lips, and then, taking her hands into my own, I kissed each of her palms. She smiled faintly and it gave me hope that she was actually going to consider my proposition.
“I will have to go now, (Y/N). I have a few tasks to finish for the day. I’ll see you in a few hours, okay?”
She nodded at me, and I kissed her lips one last time, before running out of the room, calmer and more certain of our future together in Volterra.

Request: A Child’s Imagination (Female!Reader x Aro Volturi)
WARNING: Character death mentions!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"What do you think? A boy or a girl?" You asked, trailing your fingers over the small bump that was your stomach, leaning back in your seat for better access. Aro leaned against the arm of the seat, smiling fondly at your stomach. "I can't say I know, Cara Mia." "Come on!" You pressed with a playful smile. "Pick one. You'll love them just as much either way." "I am inclined to say a son for reasons I was raised with that are significantly unnecessary and outdated as of this time. Although a daughter would be just as lovely." You smiled lovingly at Aro. "You'd spoil her rotten, you spoiled the twins after all." Aro smirked. "Isn't every child spoiled after several centuries of gifts?" You paused. "That's true. Although you know exactly what I'm talking about. I think that if our baby were to be a girl or a boy. You'd spoil them just as you did the twins." You said. "It's not always a bad thing." Aro smiled slightly. "And your answer, my dear?" You hummed. "A girl. I can only imagine all the battles i’d lose if it were you and our son against me. The men of our large family." You grinned and Aro chuckled. "We only do what's best." He responded before kissing the top of his head. "What would you name them?" You asked him, in sudden deep thought. "Aro, please don't tell me you're going to insist we name our baby some name that's older than dinosaurs." Your eyes widened in dread. "I need to be able to say the name!" Aro chuckled. "Well why don't you give me a name and we'll compare?" You paused. "Nate for a boy? Aiden?" "No, it looks like I'll be naming our son because those names are terrible. For a girl?" You hummed. "Charlotte? Evelyn? I'm trying to go a bit more classic for you." You giggled. "Those two are...decent." Aro said with no enthusiasm. "Meaning you aren't too fond of those either." You laughed. "Alright, what about you then? Girl and boy names." "Cleisthenes-" "I'm sorry, what?" Your tracing stopped as an incredulous look moved across your face. "I don't even know how to say what you just said never mind spell that." "It means Glory and Strength. See names in my era actually had meaning." Aro smiled slyly. "So does my era." You laughed. "We just care less about the meaning and more about if we can spell it and if we can say it. Pick again." You continued to giggle as Aro rolled his eyes. "Heliodoros." You said nothing but pressed him further. "Two girl names?" "Artemisia or... Eumelia." Aro responded. "...It appears we'll be having a lot of discussions for baby names." You giggled to yourself.
Somehow the two of you made a deal. If a girl, you'd choose two baby names that the two of you would pick which was preferred. The same going if the baby was a boy. Then Aro would pick two names for you both to reach a decision on. When the birth arrived, the baby was a boy and Aro made the decision alone on the boys name. However it wasn't the two names he had first said. "Archelaus." Aro had told his brothers. "The people's ruler'." Caius responded with an eyebrow raised. He seemed almost impressed. "How fitting." Marcus drawled.
"Aro, it's time. You need to decide." Caius said as he hovered over you. Aro tore his eyes away from the baby, yet to be cleaned, but bundled in a towel. He looked at his son momentarily, a flash of doubt in his eyes. Yet he said nothing. Caius stared Aro down as Aro looked at you. You were seconds away from your heart stopping altogether.
Finally Aro shook his head. Caius nodded and Aro left the room, with his newborn son in his arms. There was a sickening crack as Caius mumbled to a guard about ensuring you wouldn't suffer any longer. It was as of Caius considered that a gift. Your heart stopped and perhaps by coincidence, your son began to cry in Aro's arms. "Mio figlio." Aro cooed in a soft voice. "Everything is alright."
Aro moved into the next room, Renata already waiting for Aro's next instruction, as always. She had always been the most rigid of the Volturi and in a constant state of internal stress whilst her face appeared void of emotion. Then again, that's what made her a good guard and one Aro trusted with his life. She was constantly on the look out for danger. "Might I ask you get him cleaned up, my dear?" Aro asked lightly and Renata nodded immediately moving forward to take the baby from Aro as gently as she could.
When Renata moved into the closest bathroom, Aro left the room and returned to the room you had given birth in. "They didn't feel it." Caius assured Aro, who nodded in thanks. Caius stepped back, giving Aro some more room with you. Aro ran his fingers through your hair. "Thank you, my dear. Our son will be remarkable, I assure you. I have no doubt you would have been wonderful." Aro leaned in closer towards you, his head hovering over yours. "I'm sorry, my dear." Aro kissed your forehead and closed your eyes with his hand. This hadn't been the first time he had decided to sacrifice those he loved for his goals and no one really knew if it could have been the last.
Your son didn't seem very affected by your passing. Aro figured it was that he really didn't know you when it came down to it. Although that thought was sad, you had loved your son in the end of the universe.
Aro saw you curled up in a blanket, running your fingers along your stomach. You had always got little nudges in return. Your stomach softly nudging back at you. You had looked at your bump adoringly the whole time you were showing and when alone, always telling your unborn son how much you loved him. "I'll always love you."
You did it more so when there was chances you wouldn't survive. So therefore it was no longer just bonding with your unborn child, it was telling him and loving him for every moment you had, in case any of those would be the last. You had hoped he'd remember you if the worst came to be- if you didn't survive the birth.
There was a pang of sorrow in Aro’s chest. Sorrow for you and sorrow for his son. Aro had really loved you. He had no doubt and he loved his son too, appreciated the gift you had given him. The greatest gift he had ever received. Although he had planned that gift for himself. He had plans for himself, the Volturi and his son. Gaining more power, it was always the plan. Your son was a part of that plan. However you were not and in the end, whilst his love for you was strong, it wasn't enough to discard centuries of plans, reputation and centuries of work. So he let you die, but he made you were comfortable. He had Alec numb your senses, you wouldn't have known when you slipped away and you wouldn't have felt a thing. A peaceful end. Your legacy beginning as you departed from the world with Aro's love and gratitude.
Aro kneeled down to Klaus' level faced with answering his son just where his mother had gone. "Such matters are very difficult to tell children- to relay in words that they understand." Aro said softly as he held his son's hands in his own. "Your mother passed away and she's not coming back. She left this world with so much love for you, little one. The last thing she wanted was to say goodbye to you. However these things happen sometimes." Aro paused, searching his son's thoughts, trying to piece together if perhaps Klaus understood even a little bit. "Archelaus..." Aro said quieter, looking into his son's eyes. "Your mother isn't coming home." Aro let go of his son's hands. "She'll always be in here, with you." Aro patted his son's chest lightly, just where his heart sat beating a little faster than before. Klaus, barely looking two years old, looked away from Aro putting his thumb near his mouth as he looked around the room. Although Aro's heart would have shattered if it hadn't already stopped so very long ago. Tears ran down his son's face, his eyes moving back to his father. There was no sound, nothing. Aro couldn't bring himself to say anything, simply watching his son. He wasn't sure what exactly made his son think about you but he seemed to be growing aware of his surroundings, so much so that he is noticing people who are missing from what he remembered. Vampires couldn't cry. No tears could ever fall but to see tears run down his son's face reminded him that his son wasn't just half vampire. He was half human, half you. The human in him cried for the loss of his mother. Aro couldn't help but wonder if you'd have cried too, seeing your son try to understand why he couldn't hear his mother's voice anymore. The moment was brief and ended as quickly as it had began. He had never wondered about his mother before that day and he didn't after that day either. Almost as though Archelaus had forgotten and Aro figured that perhaps it would have been better that way.
Aro was hoping that Archelaus would meet Renesmee Cullen and when the opportunity arose, he jumped on it. It worked well, checking in on Renesmee's progress, effort to rekindle his friendship with Carlisle and his son meets someone like him who's close to his age.  "Some friends of ours are coming for a brief visit since they're passing by." Aro said fixing Klaus' collar. "They have a little girl who is like you, half human and half vampire." Klaus looked up at his father before nodding. "Would you be willing to keep her company while she's here? I believe she'd be a wonderful friend." Aro asked. Klaus nodded. "Yes, father."
The two children had ended up in Klaus' room. Klaus having his toy train in hand whilst Renesmee flicked a switch repeatedly to change the lanes. Whilst Klaus knew Renesmee's name, he had yet to introduce himself, giving off the impression he was a rather quiet boy who more than likely kept to himself. Then again, Aro couldn't help but consider perhaps it was due to being around someone who was close to his age. Renesmee was older but it wasn't noticeable in the childrens appearance. "When I get older, I want to travel on a train just like this one!" Renesmee said brightly. "Like the ones in Europe!" "Where would you go?" Klaus asked almost absentmindedly. "I don't know. I just like the thought of getting on a train to anywhere, going wherever I want at the time. So I promised myself that one day I would." "By yourself?" "Yeah!" She grinned. "Unless Jacob says he has to go too. He doesn't like the thought of me going anywhere alone." She looked almost disheartened and Klaus picked up on it. "I know the feeling. I overheard my father and uncles saying I may never get to leave here. At least not alone.” "Would you want to?" Renesmee tilted her head in curiosity. Klaus shrugged. "Maybe. I'd like to see what's out there, I think." Renesmee gasped. "You should come with me! When we're older! We should go together! Wherever we like!" Klaus was surprised. "Really?" "Yeah!" She grinned. "You should tell me your name if we're going to be friends!" "Friends?" Klaus repeated, surprised at how quickly the conversation had escalated. "Of course!" "My name is...a little strange." Klaus admitted. Even he knew his name was a mouthful bit then again, so was 'Renesmee'. "They like to give us strange names, don't they?" Renesmee cracked a smile. "My name was two names mashed together." She said almost bashfully. "Although, I'm mostly called Nessie." "Nessie? As in...?" Klaus tilted his head, trailing off and Renesmee nodded. "...like the monster. Although it wasn't intend as an insult." "My name is Archelaus. It means 'the people's ruler'...but in the human world and some call me Klaus for short." He responded. "What would you prefer I called you?" Renesmee asked. He lightly shrugged. "Klaus is fine." "Nice to meet you Klaus." "Likewise...Renesmee." "I don't mind if you call me Nessie." She smiled and Klaus' mouth twisted. "I'm sorry but I really can't call you that." Renesmee giggled. "That's okay."  "Can I ask you something?" Klaus asked. "Sure!" Renesmee smiled brightly. "Do your parents call you that? " She giggled at the thought. "No! My mum hates it, my dad doesn't like it but my uncle's think it's pretty funny." She paused momentarily. "Does your dad call you by your full name?" Klaus nodded. "Yes. As do my uncle's. Most of the guard call me Klaus though...unless my father and uncles are around."
After another moment of silence, Klaus spoke up. "My father says you're gifted." Renesmee nodded. "Wanna see?" "How?" He asked. "Like this!" Renesmee cupped a hand to his cheek and he went rigid, startled by her sudden movement.
Flashes of images rushed through his mind and he began to realise that this was Renesmee's story, showing others her abilities before himself. "Woah..." He said quietly. "Do you have a gift?" She asked. Klaus shrugged looking down. "Don't you ask your mum and dad?" "I think my father would have told me if I did but...my mother died when I was born. I can't ask her." "Oh...I'm sorry." Renesmee said sadly with a sympathetic expression. "It's okay. You know the feeling. I saw it. Your mother nearly died too." Renesmee nodded. "Yes. She was lucky. At least that's what my dad says." Klaus lightly shrugged but nodded. "Do you miss her?" Renesmee asked. "No...I mean, sometimes I do but I just think about how much I love her and that she loves me the same."
Klaus looked up hearing the door open to be met with Jane. Klaus simply looked back down at his toy train absentmindedly. “Hello, I heard you talking about your mother.” Jane moved to stand in front of him.Klaus paused.  “Would you tell me about her?” Jane asked. "I think I see her sometimes." Klaus quietly and Jane joined him on the floor. Klaus continued to play with his toy train. "Not all the time, only when I miss her the most." Klaus added with a small smile. However Jane could see his sad eyes and understood it. Children like Klaus, children like herself and her brother, they should never have such sad eyes. Yet they did. "Would you tell me about it?" She asked. "Well, I think it's her. I look her at her and somehow I just know that it's my mother. She's always happy to see me. She has a pretty smile." Klaus added, quickly glancing at Jane who smiled slightly in response. "She does?" Klaus nodded. "I talk to her sometimes. She doesn't say much back but that's okay. I asked her once, if I could keep her." "Oh? Did she answer?" Jane asked softly. "She said I could. That she'd always be with me, even when I can't see her." Klaus was completely unaware of the sadness Jane had begun to feel. When Jane's mother died, she wasn't able to face it, being a newborn and learning to trust Aro. After a couple of years, Jane began to think about her mothers death. It reinforced how alone she was and how alone she had always been. Although now she had lost someone, making her life even more empty than it had ever been before.
It had been Athenodora who comforted Jane and Alec as best as she could. Although all she could say was that their mother would have been relieved to know her children had survived and were safe. Klaus didn't get this same conversation, yet it seemed as though he didn't need it. He had found a way to cope on his own. Or at least, that's all Jane could hope. She couldn't help but wonder if Klaus didn't hear you say much was because he didn't really know you. It was clear ghosts didn't exist. Yet he had created someone in his head that he assumed was you and would respond in his interpretation of what you would have said rather than what you actually would have said. Perhaps that silence he received by his imaginary friend was Klaus not knowing what his mother would say and so no response would be given. "Does it make you sad sometimes?" She asked. "Not really." Klaus looked up at Jane again with a slight smile. "I know my mother loves me and that's all that matters really."
When Caius entered the room, he entered a war zone. For once, Marcus was mentally and physically present in the room. He was angry. Not only that, angry and arguing with Aro. Both Marcus, and Aro had pitch black eyes and it didn't take long to recognise just what they were arguing about. "I don't need to sympathize to you!" Marcus snapped. "You chose this! You did this to yourself, you did it to her and you did it to your son! You decided she wouldn't be changed so I won't have any sympathy for you because I know I sure as hell did not choose my loss!" "Everything I have ever done, was for this coven!" Aro seethed through a clenched jaw. "(Y/N) would have been apart of that. Spare me your words Aro. You let her die because she didn't fit your goals. You never even consulted us, this decision, and rightly so, was on you. You knew for months where this was going and you made your choice!" Aro scoffed. "You make it sound so easy. Then again, when have you ever made a difficult decision in your life Marcus?" Aro responded icily. "I loved (Y/N) with everything I had and my decision to let her go was not easy. If you cared so much then you wouldn't have sat there for all those months knowing she'd die!" Marcus was immediately on his feet, standing feet away from Aro. "I watched that girl die. You should have been where I was standing. I told her she had a healthy son and my face was the last thing she saw and it should have been you! Furthermore, I was by her side as she gave birth because you weren't there!" Aro snarled before Caius intervened. "Enough!" Caius snapped, stepping in between the two men. "We all knew this would happen. What we didn't know was that Aro would grow attached. Now let me make myself quite clear." Caius began coldly. "(Y/N) died loved and appreciated by Aro and held many of the guards hearts. She was wonderful and she died. We all know that many women have died in childbirth in our time. She brought Archelaus into this world and passed away. Before she could suffer, I killed her. She felt nothing and wasn't alone! We cannot and will not destroy ourselves with the 'what ifs'. We all did what we did and now we live with it because that boy needs it. He is what matters now!" The situation de-escalated greatly after this but Caius continued. "Aro, I understand you are in pain and Marcus is the only one here that knows that pain. So why don't you be help one another with that pain and not use it to tear each other apart?" Marcus and Aro stared at each other before they both back down in unison. "Make me the mediator one more time and I kill you both." Caius growled. "Honestly...see the gift (Y/N) gave you both. Memories, a son and a nephew. Could you even fathom what she'd be thinking right now seeing you both like this!?"
When night had fallen, Archelaus was taken to bed with his usual nightly routine. Renata was the one who took him to bed this particular night. The guard took turns and later Aro himself would check in on him. As usual Aro received a good report that Archelaus was in bed which left Aro a couple of free hours before he checked in. He spent those hours properly patching things up with Marcus, the two understanding each other by the time he was done. Thankfully the two were able and willing to overlook the incident.
Aro couldn't help but frown slightly. It was in the middle of the night, the lights were off in many of the rooms down the wing where Klaus stayed. It was to help him sleep, even the lights for the hall were off. It helped the illusion that everyone was asleep at the same time he was. Even though it wasn't necessary, Aro figured it may appeal to his human side.
However, instead of sleeping he wasn't even in that wing. Aro found his son on the floor below his room in one of the many rooms that had a TV in it. Aro figured his son was sneaking in some TV time or playing when regardless he should have been asleep in bed. However Aro stopped, before reaching the doorway, hiding in the shadows and out of sight.
His son giggled again, arms stretched out at nothing and grinning up at something Aro couldn't see.  A excited squeal escaped his son and Aro blinked. Suddenly, his son was no longer alone. Someone lifted him into the air, spinning him before setting him down before spinning with him. That someone looking an awful lot like you. "I'll always love you." Aro heard your voice whisper with an echo. Aro blinked again and suddenly you were gone, his sons giggling dying down. It seemed he could no longer see you either, hands dropping to his sides.
Aro moved closer unable to really pinpoint an emotion, many swirling and battling for the spotlight. His son turned to look at Aro and fully expected to get a scolding at the very least, however it never came. Aro slowly entered the room, barely making a sound and sparing a glance to the empty space you were previously in. Aro looked down at him with a soft expression. "Was that your mother?" He asked quietly. Klaus looked nervous, looking down at his hands. "It's alright Archelaus, I saw it too." Aro explained. "I miss her sometimes." Klaus finally spoke. "When I think of her, after a while, she comes to see me." "Oh?" Aro tilted his head. Klaus continued. "I mean, I know it's not really her. I like to pretend she's here and if I'm patient, she's comes to see me." "Can you show me?" Aro asked holding out his hand.
Klaus slowly put his hand in Aro's. He was right, this wasn't the first time. He remembered what you looked like, his imagination doing the rest of the work. Whenever he found himself thinking of her, longing for her presence. She'd come to see her son. Of course it became very apparent this was simply his impression of her, Klaus' imagination building the pieces to replicate his mother as best as he could along with what he hoped she'd be like.
"I'm sorry I got out of bed, father." Klaus said quietly. "That's alright little one." Aro said, unable to punish his son after discovering his son's gift. "We'll take you back to bed." Before leading his son away, he pulled his son into him, bending ever so slightly to hold his son closer.
Aro had always wondered how his son dealt with topic of his mother although could never bring himself to venture into his son's thoughts for you. However, he held comfort in knowing that his son had found peace and comfort to cope with your passing. He had no doubt that his son would have questions about why you weren't saved when he grew up but he could live with that. He could live with the spare time, your son had unknowingly given him.

Changing (Demetri Volturi x Reader)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Demetri Volturi was one of the four highest rank guards and one of the two guards tasked to train the lower ranks. You were one of the lower ranks, holding Aro’s interest for your shield. You were being trained to improve it but you didn’t have much hope in yourself. You didn’t belong in the Volturi- this wasn’t what you expected.
When he wasn’t training, Demetri was a charmer and it was apparent he knew the power he held. That remained when he was training the guard but the charmer was long gone.  “Come on! Push yourself! Move!” Demetri barked. If he yelled that at you one more time, you could have sworn you’d find your newborn strength again and throw him around like a rag doll.
As far as you were concerned, he was lucky he was pretty. You groaned, rushing to your feet, lunging at Demetri. You jumped, wrapping your legs around his shoulders but Demetri was just as quick, throwing you off him immediately. You once again had hit the floor and he sighed. “Disappointing. Again.” Demetri yanked you back up with a tight grip but surprisingly it didn’t hurt you. “Yesterday, Afton put you down very quickly. That’s not good enough. That can’t happen. You need to be faster, stronger and smarter. Sometimes, you’ll get one chance to take down an opponent and if you miss it or make a wrong move, that’s it. You’re done. We’re not stopping. You’re not done until you are better. If Felix and I have to break every bone in your body for you to get better, we’re doing it.” Demetri, pulled you into him, your back hitting his chest, one arm around your neck, the other holding your free arm outstretched and behind you, almost contorting it to a bend it shouldn’t. “Don’t think anyone will wait for you. Right now i could do two things, one: rip your head off and two: break your arm and rip that off too.”  “No!” you flailed against him. ”I’m going to knock you down as many times as it takes for you to get better and one day you’ll thank me for it.” Demetri said through a clenched jaw. “You’re the last person in this room that’s getting off easy, so fight me off. Now!”
The other training sessions weren’t much different. The constant threats, the flashes of pain, the yelling the frustration, it never seemed to end. Once again, you had been flung to the floor. “You’re still clinging to this act, aren’t you?” Demetri stood over you. “The weak, shy little vampire who couldn’t hurt a soul? It’s fake, its a lie!” Demetri hauled you up. “You kill humans regularly just to survive! You can do better than this!”  “You’re right...I can.” You stepped away, a cold exterior washing over you and Demetri noticed, looking you over. “I’m done, I’m not doing this anymore. Tell them that, yeah?” You turned and walked away.  “If you leave now, don’t come back.” Demetri said coldly.
You paused, turning to look back at him. Demetri cast a glance to Felix, acknowledging Felix’s own gaze on Demetri before looking back at you. You knew this was a challenge, a tipping point, you could feel it. If you left, things would never be the same. It was a good thing you didn’t want it to be the same. None of the guards dared to stop fighting. It wasn’t a new thing for lower guards to give up but to walk out on Demetri or Felix. That was a bold move. You turned away and continued to walk, passing through the door. Felix raised an eyebrow as Demetri’s face twisted into one of silent rage. He cast a glance to Felix who nodded and Demetri stormed after you, seeing red.
Demetri caught up to you, grabbing your wrist and pulling you back before trapping you against the wall. “Get back in there. Now.” “No, I’m not doing this anymore.” You scowled. “I wasn’t asking you.” He said through gritted teeth. “Go, now.” “No! I don’t want to do this anymore! I’ve had it! I’m sick of you treating me this away, you go so overboard with me! Why me!?” “Don’t speak to me that way! I’m doing you a favour. Now get back in there.” “No!” You pushed him away. “I can’t do this anymore!” You sounded less angry and more distressed which made Demetri pause for a moment. “What? Do you think anyone will give a damn about your feelings when they’re trying to kill you!? I’m training you to be better and you need it. Why should I give a damn if you’re going to be so reckless!? After everything I’ve done for you. I’ve helped you grow your gift. I know your potential, that’s why we’re doing this!” “Well I don’t want to anymore! If this is the price then I don’t want it! It forces me to do things I don’t want to do! To be a person I don’t want to become and I can’t do this! I can’t!” You yelled. “You can’t be a guard without training, you were chosen for this! By our masters! Without training you’ll be removed from the guard and what use will you be then? You’ll be a nomad, roaming around for nothing. So you make that choice. Go ahead. Make the choice. I didn’t put this decision upon you, you did.” You stayed silent, not knowing what to pick. You didn’t want to be alone but you didn’t want to be the person you felt you were being forced into. You didn’t know anyone else in this new life. Both options sounded terrible.  “Difficult isn’t it? You didn’t have to make this decision yet here you are.” Demetri scowled.
After a moment if silence, you spoke. “I need to leave.” “Are you serious? You haven’t been alone a day in your life!” Demetri sighed, cracking a smile. “No…” He shook his head slowly. “…no. You’re so childish.” “Laugh at me all you like.” You said quietly turning away from him and beginning to walk away. “I said no!” Demetri’s anger had returned. He was quick once again and immediately you felt strong arms around your torso. One coiled around your waist, the other across your chest. “Let me go!” You struggled. “You’re not going anywhere!” “Let go of me!” You struggled against him, even trying to hurt him to break his hold but to no avail. You grew silent. Your struggling dying down. “I’m not losing you. I can’t let you leave. I’m protecting you, even if you don’t want it!” Demetri told you. “Why!? Why do you care so much!?” “I care because I love you!” Your eyes widened and you stiffened. You felt Demetri’s forehead against the tip of your shoulder. He sighed. “I never intended to tell you now and especially not like this. I’m not doing any of this to hurt you. I’m doing it to protect you from the world out there because I can’t watch you get hurt or die. If you need to go then you can, but I’m asking you not to. At least think about it first. Please don’t leave.” You nodded. “I’ll think about it.” You said quietly. When he let go, you immediately went to your room.
You didn’t know what to think a few days later when passing by Demetri in the hallway. You tried to not make eye contact but we’re force to look up at the call of your name. Demetri had stopped and was seemingly looking you over. His best friend was Felix so you had no doubt that he told Demetri that you were at the very least a mess and not any closer in convincing yourself to stay. He looked at you with a soft expression and slight traces of concern. He stepped closer to you and wrapped you in a hug.
You didn’t mention leaving for a week after that, you hadn’t left either so many assumed you decided to stay. However Demetri seemed to avoid you after that. Had he only confessed with the hope you’d leave? It made you angry. He couldn’t drop a bombshell like that and just disappear.
Felix strummed his knuckles against you door that night. You stared at the closed door, contemplating whether to respond. However he knew you were there so really what was the point in keeping quiet. “Come in.” You said quietly. “Hey kid, can I talk to you for a moment?” It was very strange to have Felix ask you a question and not bark orders at you. You nodded. “Of course. You can sit down if you want.” You nodded to the space in front of you on the bed. Felix looked at the space before sitting beside you. “I feel obligated to tell you that we aren’t hard on you through any ill will. Your shield shows great potential.” “I’ve heard that a lot recently.” “I know…” Felix said. “and it’s true.” Felix paused. “Your shield looks to be potentially stronger than Renata’s. Not only can yours be used for defence but also offense. You can move it and use it to push things out of your way if you so wished it. Renata cannot. That is why we have to push you so much. You’re the bigger target.” You nodded.  “Demetri spoke to you, didn’t he?” Felix nodded. “You know?” “I’ve always known.” You sighed, running a hand down your face. “I’ll leave you be.” “Thanks Felix.” Felix nodded before leaving the room.
Demetri continued to avoid you for more days after that, everyday you slowly began to grow angrier until you couldn’t hide it anymore. Those around you knew something was wrong but didn’t ask. You never looked to be in the mood to talk about it.
Finally after not seeing Demetri for another week and a half, he caught your eye immediately. Him and his perfect blonde hair. You must have stared him down long enough because he turned to look over his shoulder to see you. He turned away once again. You wouldn’t be taking that for an answer.
“Are you enjoying this?” You stormed up to him and he said nothing, not even casting a glance to you and continuing to speak to the receptionist, giving her orders for the Masters. “Cut out the silent treatment. I mean it.” Still he said nothing and refused to look at you. In anger you made a pushing motion and like a ripple suddenly everything was thrown off the receptionists desk making her shriek before covering her mouth. Demetri muttered to the receptionist telling her to clean the mess before grabbing your arm and pulling you to a secluded hallway.
“Alright, you’ve made your point.” Demetri said. “Could have fooled me, I haven’t seen you in two weeks!” You said through a clenched jaw. “The looks I’ve been getting! Aro and Caius are questioning my loyalty. You remember what happens if they’re not convinced right? They’re called Corin and Chelsea! This is ridiculous! Why am I being punished!?” “You’re not-” “Like hell I’m not!” You snapped. “The looks I’ve been getting, my gift- I’m struggling to control it! Everyone is trying to pretend everything is fine!” “What do you want from me?” Demetri asked with a hint of exasperation. You stared him down. “Forget it. Just forget it. I’m having a hard time and no one wants to see it.” “I do!” Demetri responded. “You’re not here anymore! You left me with all of this! It’s getting worse and i’m tired of fighting it.” You stormed off.
You had been gone for a few days.  “Did either of you send (Y/N) on a mission?” Aro asked. “They aren’t in Volterra.” Caius shook his head. “No.” The two looked to Marcus who shook his head.  “Did they leave without permission?” Aro raised an eyebrow.  “They left with permission.” Marcus responded and Caius leaned forward to see past Aro. “You just said you hadn’t sent them!”  “Yes, you asked if I sent them on a mission and i didn’t but i did permit them to leave.”  “When will they return?” Aro asked.  “Why would you allow this!?” Caius snapped.  “They won’t be back from my knowledge.” Marcus ignored Caius. Aro’s head snapped towards Marcus as well as Demetri and Felix’s gazes. “When you say leave...?”  “I permitted (Y/N) to leave the Volturi.” Demetri could have sworn his heart might have just shattered. Felix looked just as surprised, sparing a glance to his friend.  “Why did you do that?” Caius said through gritted teeth. Marcus didn’t look willing to answer. “Speak!” Caius snapped.  “Why did you do this and not consult us?” Aro said blankly, all pleasantries gone and hiding his building anger. Marcus thought for a moment. “They came to see me the other night, and were very distressed. I knew something was wrong and so i took them to a more private area of the castle.”
“I don’t know what to do master I...I need help and i don’t know where else to seek it.”  “You’ve come to the right place. Are you harmed?” Marcus asked, sensing how distraught you were. You shook your head, visibly looking more upset.  “Come sit.” Marcus sat you down and Marcus sat opposite you. “I’ve never seen you so upset, (Y/N), what’s wrong?”  “Master, can i ask something first?” Marcus nodded. “Demetri told me he had feelings for me, can you confirm that? Is he lying to me?” Marcus looked at you for a moment, slightly startled at the question but shook his head. “No, his feelings are genuine. Your bond with one another is genuine and you return those feelings but...something holds you back and you hold an immense anger. Is this what has been bothering you?”  “I don’t understand.” You whispered. “I thought he hated me. He’s ruined me. I can’t control my shield anymore. I’m afraid i’m going to hurt someone!”  “Is it growing?” You slowly nodded. “I’m losing control over it and it’s their fault. They’re pushing me to become a person i don’t want to be.” You stood up quickly, panicked. “I don’t think i can stay here. Not if I-I could hurt someone!”  “(Y/N)...” Marcus stood up moving to approach you and reaching out for you. “Listen to me-”  “No!” You flinched, startled by his movements but it was too late. Just like that an unseen force pushed Marcus back. Not even to hurt him but the look of horror on your face told him everything. You staggered back locking your hands together and towards your chest, hunching over slightly. You looked pained almost, and terrified.  “I’m so sorry...I didn’t mean to.” You squeezed your eyes shut. Marcus stared at you.” “(Y/N)...” Marcus said quietly. “If you feel you’d be happy elsewhere, then you can go. You’d have to leave your things but if you want to leave then that’s okay. You can go.”  “You’re telling me...you permitted them to leave the Volturi!?” Caius was livid and Aro looked like his anger was bubbling underneath the surface of his cold exterior.  “I did.” The two couldn’t see the ghost of a smile on the right half of Marcus’ face, his lips upturning.
You put your hands in your pockets, hood covering your face as you stepped into the alley. Whilst alleys were never the safest of places, you felt completely safe, even as another vampire followed you in. Truth be told, you knew your were the most dangerous in this situation, so really why should you be worried?  “You don’t belong here.” A gruff voice called behind you. “You’re trespassing.” You turned to the male vampire. “I’m visiting, looking for someone. Looking for you.”  “Well what do you want?”  “For you to tell me where Elton and Mariam is.” You said blankly. He scoffed. “Like i’d tell you anything.” You hummed in amusement. “Come on Ricky, we want the easy way, not the hard way.” Ricardo’s eyes widened.  “Ricardo is Spanish right? Portuguese?”  “No one calls me Ricky.” You laughed. “No one but Amelie, or as you call her- Mel.” Ricardo’s eyes flashed striding towards you. “How do you know-”  “Your mate? We had a lovely little chat. Although she isn’t doing too well now, in fact- she’s a little fearful for the both of you. She doesn’t know where Elton and Mariam is but you do. She could only lead me to you. It took some force, to get it out of her but...she did after some convincing.”  “What did you do!?” Ricardo growled. “How do you know us!?”  “Alright, you and your friends - you’re not really a coven yet, right? Anyway, you’ve been misbehaving and making a newborn army to overthrow the Volturi, right? I know Elton and Mariam are the ringleaders and i’m dealing with you all accordingly. So, where are they?”  “Did you hurt Amelie?”  “Yes, I did.” You said simply. “I already destroyed, Evan and Xavier. It was a shame, they were a cute couple. They told me where to find her and i did. She was stubborn, and eventually i ripped off her arms. After a while she told me you were here and now here i am. Your turn to answer questions.”  “Did you kill her!?”  “Of course and you will join her once you tell me what i need to know. So...” You made a pushing motion and Ricardo flew back against a wall, the force pinning him. “...where are they? Or do i have to rip your arms off too? The sooner you tell me, the sooner you can be with your sweet Amelie.”  “You!” Ricardo yelled out in rage and grief. “You vile-!”  “Or i could make you tell me and leave you alive. I know someone who lost his mate and has had to live with it. It’s not pleasant, not even to watch. So, what do you want to tell me?”  “You- you killed Amelie, Evan and Xavier?” He said in pain.  “Yes, I did. Last chance before the arm comes off.” “There’s- there’s no point- no reason to - okay, i’ll tell you.”  “That’s the Ricky we know and love, well, that Mel loves.” You smiled sweetly as the man in front of you was crumbling apart at his loss.  “Germany, they’re in Germany, they suspected someone was after us and we split up. It was- it was-”  “Yeah, that was me. Now you can go.” Ricardo didn’t get any time to react before his head was ripped from his shoulders.
Demetri stood with his arms crossed by the fireplace. After a moment Felix joined him. “That’s five dead now.” “It’s been three months.” Demetri said. “I don’t know what they’re doing-” Felix began. “I do. They’re making a statement. They want me to see this. They want me to come and find them.” “You can’t. Not yet anyway.” Felix said. “I will at some point though, I’ll have to drag them out of this hell they’ve put themselves into.” “You’ve helped them dig the pit you speak of.” Felix responded. “You know that.” “Yes…” Demetri’s eyed the flames. “I did. Now it is only I who can dig them out.” “Then let’s hope you have a plan for the kid. They’ll need it. They’re on thin ice. One wrong move and it’s all over for them.” Felix finished.
“Our dear (Y/N), appears to have been doing our bidding for the past eight months.” Aro began. Marcus looked weary.  “Indeed, it appears so.” Caius looked uncertain how he felt about it.  “However, i must admit brothers, i fear their safety for they are no longer in our ranks.” Aro tilted his head. Caius turned his head to Aro. “Indeed but i imagine you’re more concerned about their gift.” Aro ruefully smiled. “I believe we should retrieve them. Send Alec, Felix and Demetri to return them to us.” Caius nodded. “Very well.” Marcus said nothing resting his head in one of his hands.
The vampire scrambled back as you walked towards them. “What did I ever do to you!?” She screeched. “To me? Nothing, Miriam.” You shook your head lightly. “Then why!? Why are you doing this to me!?” Miriam clutched her cracked arm. You smiled at the woman offering her a light shrug before lunging. Her scream was cut off as well as her head. After some walking it wasn’t long until you found the male vampire. “So you lied to me and said you never told her about the newborn army you were making, hm? Too bad she had to pay the price.” “You!” Elton lunged but you anticipated his moves. The man lost in seconds, his emotions driving him before any conscious thought.
A familiar scent hit your nostrils and you turned quickly, dropping the vampire before taking off running. Suddenly a brute force collided into the back of you before rolling you into your back and pinning you. You were greeted by Alec’s smirk. “Alec!” You screeched. “Get off!” “You’ve been busy haven’t you (Y/N)?” Alec gave you grin. “Get off!” You tried to flail against him and whilst you did move him, he had a tight grip making only your struggle apparent with no actual success. “Shhhh…” Alec said in amusement, oddly calm and content. “Just relax. Here, let me help you.” You screeched as you felt a numbness begin from your wrists, under his fingers and travelled around your body. “No! Stop!” You moved against him but significantly weaker than before. Alec continued to smile down at you before everything faded to black.
Alec looked over his shoulder, smiling at Demetri and Felix. “It isn’t often you tackle people Alec.” Felix mused. “I wanted this done quickly. I don’t like being without my sister, the chase isn’t nearly as fun without her.” Felix lightly shrugged, expecting nothing less. “What do you want me to do with them Demetri?” Alec grinned, unable to help himself from the light tease.
When your eyes opened you recognised the walls and the intricate patterns on the ceiling. You inhaled sharply, moving quickly to a stand. They brought you back here. To Volterra. You were met with Alec’s smirk. He headed for the door and left without a word. You turned your head to find you weren’t alone. You sucked on your teeth.
Demetri’s back was towards you, looking at the large fireplace in front of him, arms crossed. You said nothing, unceremoniously flopping onto the seat, crossing a leg over the other.  “It’s about time you come to see me.”  “Still keeping track of me Demetri? Consider me flattered.” You responded smoothly. He turned to face you, gracing a small smirk on his features. “Well, I doubt you’re very surprised. You were a favourite.” You snorted in response. “From what i remember, if anyone considered me a favourite- it was the floor.” Demetri said nothing, stuffing his hands in his pockets. The same calculating gaze he always wore. “I hear you’ve been a vigilante of sorts.”  “I follow the laws, and i do it for fun. I find it a great release for a lot of anger.” Demetri chuckled. “You’re still going on rage-fueled killing sprees?” “You can’t kill what’s already dead.” You responded flatly. “Don’t be jealous, I’d say i’m making your job easier.”  “You know that’s not what i want, especially for you. I was training you to defend yourself, not become a killing machine.”  “What’s the difference?”  “You don’t mean that. I know you, (Y/N).”  “Yeah, i remember it well. I believe the words were ‘weak, shy little vampire who couldn’t hurt a soul. A ‘fake’.”
Demetri was leaning over you in minutes, his arms holding himself on the arm rests of your chair. “Don’t use my words back at me and certainly don’t twist them. I never said you were fake, i said you were playing an act. Whether it was to make yourself feel better or look better, i wouldn’t know. You’re doing this not for the better good, you’re doing it for yourself, you’re doing it to spite me.” He backed away. “For myself? So when I dealt with a human that noticed something odd about one of your guards, who was that for?”  “Don’t pretend, you didn’t do it because you’re angry with me. You have something to prove, don’t you?” You stood up leaning in close. “No, i’m showing that your actions have consequences and don’t think i don’t know you don’t like it. You miss what i was like before because that person you actually knew. You don’t know the person sitting in front of you.”
Demetri looked at you softly. It made him look innocent, gentle, welcoming and suddenly you were sure if you knew Demetri as well as you had thought. You moved back to your seat, looking at your lap. “Why were you so hard on me if you cared about me? Why do I still have you attention?  This is personal, surely I’ve done something to make you-” Demetri shook his head as you spoke moving once again bit this time, moving to his knees, putting his hands over yours. “I was hard on you because i love you. I don’t want anything to hurt you or kill you. That won’t change and i know you want it to, so badly but i wont ever stop loving you.” You didn’t look at him, remaining in silence as he lifted your chin to make you look at him. “I tried to be angry with you, discipline you, manipulate you into doing what i wanted but i failed. I failed because i love you! I loved you then, just the way you were and it killed me to know that couldn’t defend yourself. You were the most challenging because i care too much. On the contrary to what you seem to have told yourself to feel better about all of this. I couldn’t give up on you. Even now, you’re on the edge, on the verge of leaving and i can’t let you go. Perhaps i was blind, unwilling to see how this affected you.” Demetri stepped away sitting on a seat opposite you. “As i said, I tried to change you, build you up into an immovable force but you didn’t need me. You did it on your own. You’re more powerful than i could have ever expected. You should be proud!”
You cracked a smirk despite your cold gaze. Although it slowly wavered only slightly showing your pain. “You made me think you hated me.” Demetri said nothing, his complete attention on you. “I thought nothing I did was good enough for you. You made me feel that way. You were the most wonderful thing in the world to me and eventually I felt suffocated by you being in the same room. Even when I know I don’t need to breathe. You were impossible to satisfy. I lost control of everything.” “You didn’t.” Demetri said quietly. “You could have moved Alec off of you, you didn’t. You let him take you.” Your gaze faltered and Demetri was once again, crouching in front of you and taking hold of your hands. “You’re allowed to be angry but I can’t let you continue this journey. You’re getting reckless. You’ll be hunted. This isn’t you- I know you. You’re wonderful.”  “This is a mess, Demetri. This isn’t remotely healthy. If we were human-” “We’re not human. By human standards perhaps it is, but we’re not human and we have to do terrible things on a daily basis to survive by humans morals.”
You were silent for a moment. “Promise me you aren’t lying to me, Demetri. Promise me.” Demetri stepped forward pulling you to a stand and into him, closing the distance between you both with his hands on your upper arms. “I would never lie about this, (Y/N).” “How can you ask me to move on from this?” You whispered. “Because I’d die without you.” Demetri said quietly. “I’ve always known that, it’s why I tried so hard with you.” Demetri coiled his arms around your torso, making sure no distance was created. “You were always the one for me and I can’t lose you. It was painful enough when you left here…if you died…” Demetri trailed off, shaking his head slowly and swallowing hard. “Stay with me, (Y/N). Please. Things will be so different. I’ll fix this.” Demetri lifted your head, making you look at him. “Please.” He planted a kiss to your cheek. “Please.” This one was more pleading as he looked into your eyes. You couldn’t find the words to speak. He pulled your face to his, planting a sweet kiss to your lips and holding you there for a moment. Once he pulled back, he watched your expression, looking for any sign. Slowly you nodded your head. “Okay…okay, I’ll stay.”
