So like Fic idea- in my Au, Rey eventually found Ben through TWB and they got married and had babies and are happy and blah blah blah. But like. The one shot shows bits through out time where Ben is eaten by guilt, shame, and self loathing. Because he’ll never fully forgive himself. He has bad days, and Rey comforts him but there’s always gonna be that back thought in his head.

From the penultimate chapter of #StubbornFolliesFic I present Rose and Rey having A Moment™️ after the birth of Rose’s nephew.

CHAPTER 9 EXCERPT:

“She was magnificent. Paige.” The statement hung between them and Rose let out a choked little laugh. “I didn’t know, Rey. How could I have? Such love. Such turmoil. Such tenderness. What all of these foolish games and marriage mart transactions result in.” A sob escaped her and Rey began to rise, concern knitting her brow. But Rose shook her head, steadfast. “He is perfect. And such a perfect reflection of Paige and Ezra. Their love. It is so pure, Rey.” She dabbed her eyes before pinning Rey with her fierce gaze. “Am I so foolish to want that for myself? I know it is rare. I know it is impractical. But…”

Rey was by her friend’s side, throwing her arms around her in a moment, pulling her close. Clutching and clinging to her fast.

“It is not foolish.” Rey said simply. Heart squeezing in her chest. “It is brave. So very brave to know what you want and settle for nothing less. Despite our station in life. To chase your own happiness. To know your own worth. It is a truly admirable thing.”

Rose nodded, tears flowing down her face as Rey held her. Sinking into a moment of comfort with her friend. Letting all else fall away.

Until—

A gentle knock sounded at the door. Mr. Frick pushed his way in, stooping low in the doorway perhaps to show deference but most certainly because his spine had curved in the advancement of his age.

“My ladies, you have callers.”
