Sanemi visits Kanae's grave often, even more than Shinobu. He brings fresh blue peonies to her grave bc its the only color he sees correctly; they remind him of her colorful personality.

He also brings wisteria to you know, keep her soul safe from the demons and whatnot

Sometimes when no one's around, he talks to her grave, and about what's going on in his life and that he's okay.

Whenever he ever tries to harm himself he feels something stop him. something that makes him say, "Man, what am I doing." sometimes he envisions Kanae's figure approaching him and grabbing the knife from his hands saying, "There's no need."

Sometimes when he's feeling down he'll just remember that she's in a much better place. One free from all the horrors of their world.

She had a feeling she may not come back from the mission to kill Douma, so i like to think that before she left, she wrote letters for Shinobu, Sanemi, Kanao, and whoever else was important to her. The letter for Sanemi would go something like:

Dear Sanemi,

If you’re reading this, I must not have survived the attack against Douma. But please don’t be sad.. I lived a good life. 

I want to thank you for loving me as much as you did. It’s true. I’ve known the whole time, and regret not letting you know sooner. That day that I tended to your wound at the mansion. I gave my little sister, Kanao, a special coin. This coin has been passed down through the generations of our family. I flipped the coin to the opposite side and said to her, “When you fall in love with some boy someday, you’ll change, too, Kanao.” I should have told you, I shouldn’t have been so cautious, but it’s too late. So please live a good life. For me. Try to refrain from crying or becoming depressed. Death is just a part of life, after all. Cherish my memory instead. Be kind to other people when you can, and don’t start meaningless fights. But I’m not asking that you change. Never change.

Lastly, I need you to promise me you’ll remember this: It is not your fault. It was never your fault. And though you may find more women in your future, and that’s okay, know that I will always love you.

Your excited eyes drew up to the sound of a bell ringing rhythmically from staring up at the roof in boredom. Two of your favourite customers, Obanai and Mitsuri entered as the hyper girl waved for your attention. You accidentally swiped open the back glass door of the see-through sweet treat display for customers, to stand in front of the cash register with a matching smile to Mitsuri’s and the listening gaze of Obanai

“Welcome back, you two! How may I serve you? The usual?” You ask cheerfully, playing with the protruding buttons on the cash register playfully as Mitsuri tapped her cheek in fake consideration. She knew exactly what she wanted to talk about with you as her boyfriend, Obanai held her hand. His mismatched eyes scanned over your pretty face in pure admiration, love leaked through

This situation seemed like a young couple visiting their favourite café to the general eye, including yours, but it was really two madpeople riddled in obsession satisfying their feed of the one they love so dearly by pretending to want to have one of your many sweet options. It wasn’t just Mitsuri and Obanai who were like this and came to you daily

You met the lovely couple when they came into your café for a date. You recently opened this little shop as it was your passion to run your own business, like this homely café. But your hope ran dry as the days went by with no customers, but when they came into the picture. Your life was basically saved

You served them with such excitement and relief, immediately giving them that one pretty two-seated table positioned by the open window as you eagerly took their orders. Mitsuri ordered so much, you had a long list of desserts to give her whilst Obanai ordered so little, you were a bit concerned but you bowed to them

They kept coming every single day after their first experience with you to test out every new option you had stocked in or merely to chat with you. You didn’t mind as you appreciated how supportive they are yet you didn’t know that your cooperation fed into their developing obsession over you

You always had time on your hands to talk to the two after serving them as you didn’t have many customers, other than them… well, other than them and another young couple that have visited you so much, you’ve lost count;

You’re other two favourite customers. Sanemi and Kanae. Kanao, Kanae’s younger sister once came into your cafe for a quiet hangout with her friends, and suggested it to her older sister for a way to have a peaceful day out. Kanae decided to take her boyfriend over for a quick sweet little cafe date at your shop. Unaware of your unintentional affect on them that had already infected Obanai and Mitsuri would plague them so bad that they’d become completely mad for you

Just like with Obanai and Mitsuri, the two were obsessed with you after spending weeks and weeks coming back on beliefs they were just being supportive and friendly, not wanting to realise their healthy friendship with you had grown into a love-driven obsession. The couples wanted you apart of their lovelife, as their cute little girlfriend

Sanemi and Kanae kept having wonderful times at your business that it needs to repeat for them. Such delicious food, such delicious drinks, such a pretty homely environment with a beautiful server on atop of it that caught their eyes so fast, they couldn’t believe they didn’t know of your existence until they had to pay for it. How foolish, they would have paid to see you so much sooner if they knew about you

They ordered things equally and even shared some of their orders in which you kept in mind so you can give them cute things to use like a long love heart-shaped double-headed straw for their milkshake they’d eventually share. Their reaction to your little surprise made your heart beat in joy for the couple. You simply adored such love, you wanted something exactly like those two loveable couple, when you find your soulmate

Ever since you met the four, you had noticed a lot of changes. More people came to your café and all never seemed to scold you for being late, it was like you were inside a videogame where the settings of the customers can be changed to passive. It was confusing on the most part. Your shipments for ingredients seemed to be infinite, even though, you didn’t order anything that week and you noticed that you were gaining more fatter tips from out of nowhere

Every other customer, other than your dailies, were quite stiff, shaken and robotic as they spoke. It was kinda odd, sure, you couldn’t say anything was off since your head is in the clouds when you’re not working and you break something every single day but you weren’t that dense

You figured it was your family helping you from the sidelines. You weren’t aware that it was the two couples you had befriended desperately trying to get you to like them

“Oh, please, don’t worry about that. I’ll tell you what we want. Can we get a table?” Mitsuri asked as you nodded excited like usual, rushing off your heels towards the exitway and accidentally bumping your stomach against the closed wooden pane keeping customers from entering the back of the service table, full force as you whined out in pain. Obanai and Mitsuri flinched in response, traversing around the marble countertop to make sure you are okay, extreme laces of concern consuming them

Obanai held his hand out and touched your shoulder with his girlfriend clinging onto his free arm in concern as you gently giggled, your voice leaking pain. “I’m okay. Don’t worry” You reassured them, opening the trapdoor and shutting it once you walked out, picking up your trusty notebook and passing the young couple. Still unaware of their lovestruck eyes boring through you

Your hair tied up in a neat bun with all those cute chibi animal hairpins and your bangs pushed back by pretty colourful hairclips. You looked so scrumptious as Mitsuri and Obanai almost raced each other to catch up to you, you gestured them to sit in the middle of the cafe, decorated by a glass chandelier hanging above their heads

You flipped open the notebook to a clean page with that all-so-unbreaking smile they love so dearly as the two sat down in front of each other calmly, wondering who will speak up to you first. You were about to ask for their orders when the doorbell rang for a second time, indicating that another customer has arrived to be served. You apologised outloud to Obanai and Mitsuri, promising you’ll come back to them and rushing over to serve the new customer in mind

Your eyes glowed in happiness, recovering from your near low step trip, as Kanae ran up to you excited in her pretty sparkly date dress, and swallowed you up in a tight but harm hug. Very big sister-like as you laughed at her open kindness, it didn’t ring any alarms as you figured she hugs all her friends this way and you liked it

Sanemi followed his girlfriend, in a somewhat-fancy tieless suit and patted back your bangs to avoid undoing the clips. His smile never dropped at the sight of your gorgeous face. The man didn’t say a word as Kanae begun speaking, her voice a bit stronger than usual and admiring your new hair accessories with little points

“Ooohhh~! You look so cute, Dokusha!” Kanae cheered happily and clapped her hands, she did feel the angry jealous glares of Obanai and Mitsuri piercing through her but she chose to ignore it in favour of spending time with you, her newfound love interest. Sanemi chimes in afterwards, looking curiously at one hairclip he didn’t recognise from the many he has kept track of. “Are these new?” You nod against his strong palm, gently patting his muscular wrist so he will let go, though, he didn’t want to let go

Mitsuri bit her bottom lip, her eyes welling up in fury as her hands balled up into fists whilst Obanai continued to silently glare deadly holes into the couple openly trying to flirt with you, he was ready to throw hands with these pricks. The only people could flirt with you is him and his girlfriend, nobody touches their future wife but them!

Obanai got up from his comfy chair when Sanemi’s hand gently brushed over your cheek, reeling a flustered rosy blush from you. His mismatched irises were so dark, they could shadow over the night sky

Mitsuri quickly followed her boyfriend close by when he walked away from their table, not wanting to interfere. She did want him to knock some sense into those pieces of shit, but she didn’t want to frighten you

“Oi. Fucktard” Obanai barked rather cruelly and out of the blue, drawing Sanemi’s attention onto him as he immediately socks the much taller man in the jaw with a hard right-cross. This made Kanae gasp out in shock and you scream in fear, stepping back as you were worried you, Kanae or Mitsuri would get attacked too

Sanemi bumped against the counter in conjunction to the few backward steps and used his arms to hold himself up by the firm ledge, processing the punch slowly. Kanae rushed to his side in a instant and hissed under her breath at her boyfriend’s dazed state. She managed to speak up, her eyes overflowing with anger over such violence as her dainty hands ran over his shoulder to try comfort him

“Excuse me! How dare you touch my boyfriend!” Mitsuri responded to Kanae’s statement for her own boyfriend, holding his shoulders protectively and her eyes switched between the enemy couple and you shivering in concern and fear up against the flat empty wall. She couldn’t stop this, she decided to join in as she knew well that her anger couldn’t be suppressed any further. “And how dare YOU two try take our Dokusha away from us!”

“She is not your Dokusha! She is the server here! It’s her job to—“ Sanemi snapped back almost instantly with his head rising in sync, his now-bruised jaw did sting from the punch but he needed to defend himself and his girlfriend from what this psycho couple were pulling against them. How dare they act like they own you when you own yourself

Obanai yelled through to produce a interruption, visible anger veins crawling over his forehead, hands and neck as Sanemi followed soon after, his own body being coated in popping veins. He was well done with the chemistry teacher’s aggressive talkbacks to his beloved girlfriend. “And Dokusha isn’t a piece of meat to be played with! Leave her alone! She isn’t yours! You have each other!”

“We aren’t playing with her! We like her! She’s quite the—” Kanae argued back, making her voice get louder and firmer with the intensity of the situation growing at a concerning rate. This was getting dangerous as Sanemi rubbed his jaw to try muffle the sharp jabs and rose back to his feet properly. This day wasn’t going as they planned with Obanai and Mitsuri throwing a bombshell into it

“She’s not even your friend. Just get away from her!” Mitsuri barked back, her and her boyfriend’s thought-out plan to order something for themselves and also you to better woo you over when they offered you to sit down and chat with them, was ruined by these two before them. Your heart was truly theirs as they are the ones who made your café known to the Kimetsu Academy. What did these two have to offer you what they haven’t already?!

Your anxiety and concern rose hearing the two women argue and shout at each other as the men went to throw punches at each other. What do you do?! What do you do?! You panic and decide on the whim to call the Police. You didn’t want to get your friends arrested but they can cause a extreme issue if you don’t have them taken care of

Speeding over to the much older-fashioned cable phone behind the marble counter, you accidentally knocked into the nearby pillar, holding a valuable and expensive decorative pot your mother had bought for you. Sadly, for your slower reaction time, the artefact landed directly on your back and shattered into pieces whilst the wooden pillar fell onto you, pushing you to the ground

The very loud thud from the back stopped the four’s fighting as they almost screamed in concern and pushed each other away to reach the source of the noise. Kanae and Mitsuri cried out in horror at the sight before them, Obanai and Sanemi shoved each other out of the way, just for their eyes to feel like they popped out of the sockets. The girls bolted to you, quickly brushing off the broken pieces on your back that, thankfully didn’t stab into you, and move the light yet suffocating pillar off

Swiping and insulting each other at every turn whilst the boys fought each other for the phone that they pulled away from the back of your counter to the front. They needed to call a ambulance to make sure you were gonna be okay but their constant roars and wet smacks for punches were distracting them. Your head was fuzzy and stung, your eyes grew blurry whilst the voices of the four begun fading away

What a horrible day

I accidentally made us more clumsy and air-headed, then obnoxious and tough to handle but I hope it’s okay!

kny modern au couples doing the you are out of my league tiktok trend

this is the only tiktok trend that matters to me because it's disgustingly adorable. if you haven't seen it because maybe you have an actual life unlike me, here's a video. (and here's another one because it's my favorite but doesn’t really work well as an example.) also ig i'm spoilering the ships for this au but you know what i'm fine with that, there'll be a more detailed post on these at some point.

Kanae of course is outraged at this; "did you just call yourself UGLY [insert long rant about how pretty Sanemi is on the in- and outside and how he should never speak like this about himself ever again]"

he finally caves in because she's so excited about doing it and she gets him his favorite take out to make up for it

OBAMITSU

Obanai avoids social media like the plague and he's not aware of the trend until Mitsuri starts sending him links, hoping that he'll get the hint (he doesn't)

when she finally brings it up to him he's SO reluctant but he agrees to it on the condition that they don't do it in a public spot

they do a few versions of it in the living room of Mitsuri's family when no one's home and he actually ends up having fun

in the end they don't post anything because Obanai just isn't comfortable with it but Mitsuri has all the drafts saved to her phone and rewatches them every day (her favorite is one where she susprised Obanai by scooping him up and he spasmed so hard that he threw her off balance and they both came crashing down on the couch)

SABIGIYUU

Sabito doesn't even ask Giyuu if he feels up for it, he just barges into the room like "hey we should try something" and doesn't wait for an answer

Giyuu has no idea what's going on, he just gets the instruction to walk backwards and he's so confused when Sabito... crashes into him?? starts making out with him??

the video goes viral and people online start gushing over how adorable Giyuu is which prompts Giyuu to lock himself in his room for three days because he can't fathom that internet strangers are calling him cute

he only comes out when Sabito takes the video down (which he did just for Giyuu and definitely not because he was getting a teensy bit pissed off at random people thirsting after his boyfriend)

UZUIWIVES

an absolute catastrophe of a video

Suma is the one who discovers the trend first and the others are on board with it obviously but turns out the trend was not designed for more than two people at once

all of their attempts end in a massive crash and tangled limb chaos on the floor and Tengen fractures a rib (he can take a lot but having three adult women fall on the same bone has to do something to a man)

they upload the fractured rib draft and it's a giant hit with the baby would you peel an orange for me community

RENKAZA

yes Akaza found the trend and yes Akaza sneakily brought it up to Kyojuro and yes Akaza already had a cute spot to film at in mind which they both had a deep emotional connection to but just for the record he thinks it's stupid

he grumbles about how they turned into a corny couple throughout the whole thing but also he's gonna need a second take just to make sure they get it right

Kyojuro happily goes along with the farce, nodding and agreeing in all the right places to make him feel better

they can't decide on a draft to upload because the one where Kyojuro laughs so beautifully doesn't have Akaza's eyes lighting up so marvelously and vice versa and in the end they just say whatever and post both because they've been filming all afternoon and they really need a snack

hi i come with modern au sanekana hcs because that one guy on tiktok kinda pissed me off lmao

kanae notices that sanemi's kinda nervous when he's supposed to come to her house for the first time and she gives him this really sweet pep talk about how he has nothing to be nervous about because her parents are gonna love him and he's gonna get along with them so well and they're so kind and fun to be around and when she's finished he's like "thank you so much i'm actually scared of shinobu tho" and she just goes "oh yeah well lol u should be ngl"

all of sanemi's siblings love kanae, they always follow her around when she visits and draw her pictures (mostly flowers, sometimes they draw her with sanemi and she keeps all of those pictures hidden from him in a box under her bed so he won't be embarrassed)

(butterfly girls are still a thing, they're all shinobu's and kanae's adopted sisters) aoi and kanao actually knew sanemi before he and kanae got together because they've been friends with genya since elementary school and shinobu finally admits he might not be as horrible as she suspected when she sees aoi tackle him at the door and he doesn't even hesitate before picking her up and swinging her around

they'd become a couple at 16/17 and at some point later sanemi gets a motorcycle because don't tell me he wouldn't and kanae's not very enthusiastic at first ("motorcycles are death machines i'm telling you!") until he takes her for a ride and she falls in love with it even more than him ("and there's my giiiirl, looking good!" - "flower i'm like. right here.")

they were caught making out at a party by tengen and mitsuri and when sanemi went "if you tell anyone i'll kill you!" mitsuri immediately reassured him that ofc they wouldn't tell anyone. she then turns to tengen like "right uzui" and he's on his phone; "hang on i gotta send this to the group chat- what were you saying?"

sanemi's hesitant with buying flowers, jewelry, clothes or anything like that for kanae because of his colorblindness and mitsuri picks up on that (besties because i said so) and offers her help so from then on sanemi sends her pictures of things to doublecheck and sometimes she'll go shopping with him and help him pick out flowers

kanae likes to put small gifts in sanemi's locker in between periods when they're still in school so sometimes he'll find small baked goods or a cute sticker or something like that and you better believe he puts all of those stickers on his folders and books (obanai tries to bully him about it but sanemi can't be bothered)

kanae always patches sanemi up when he gets into a fight and makes sure he's okay but it's obvious that she's upset about it and sanemi's trying to hard to stop but it's really hard, then a particularly brutal fight lands him in the hospital and that's what gets him to finally open up to her about it and accept her help (it gets better after that)

kanae loves sanemi's scars and she likes to subtly kiss them when he's feeling kinda down to signalize that she loves all of him (he knows what she's doing but he never addresses it because it kinda works and also he doesn't want to destroy the illusion of being sneaky for her)

AHHHHHHHH *Faints* I ADORE THESE OH MY GOD!!! (And honestly valid! Tiktok's got some wild takes, that's for sure 😅) Lemme just- I need second hold on-

First of all; Sanemi being terrified of Shinobu and Kanae being: "Yeah, you should be" is literal GOLD WKJRJKERKJEKJ She gives this beautiful pep talk and he's all: "What about Shinobu?" "Oh babe you're dead. I'll come to your funeral though :D"

And the MOTORCYCLE YESSS!!! My man's definitely a biker- He'd get a super cool one with wind designs on it- always bringing an extra helmet (and a small one for the kiddos if he's picking up either his siblings or her siblings). He'd get her one with flowers and butterflies on it cause she's adorable and deserves it. They'd go on long drives at night, her arms around his chest and face against his back. He'd love every moment of it.

THE SIBLINGS LOVING THEM YES!!! His little bros and sisters would ADORE HER! Her little ducklings- they'd follow her into around like you said, bringing little flowers or doodles, asking for hugs or for her to braid their hair, she's got such a lovely voice too- they'd ask her to read them stories or sing to them AHH! And I just love the idea of Sanemi and Aoi being a little tag team of chaos! He'd be her number one supporter (and practice patient- the guy's accident prone whoops) when she starts wanting to go to medical school.

NOT UZUI HELP KEJKREJRJKEWRKJEWKJRJK But yes oh my god even in the canon they're besties holy- I love Mitsuri being his guide due to his colorblindness. The Flowers AHHH! He'd get her all kinds! I'm so soft at that part of him finally opening up to her and accepting her help- outside the girlies she's so careful and sweet with him and he feels equal parts guilty and loved cause he hates making her witness all his injuries but also just loves her touch OH MY GOD HELP-

THE SNEAKY KISSES!!!! She's just: "Oh look at that-" *kiss scar on forehead*" Or when he falls asleep against her shoulder she just kinda leans in and *smooch*. (name) and Sanemi were supposed to be out on a date but the white haired man would not shut up about her, constant praise and it felt like he was dating her instead of (name).

It hurt, a lot.

Seeing as he rarely told (name) he loved him, let alone complimented him as he did Kanae.

Sanemi didn't even notice when (name) left, so caught up with his bullshit to realize be had left.

It wasn't always like this, despite his abrasive and sometimes rude nature... Sanemi was a really good boyfriend.

That was until he and Kanae worked together more.

Then he began slowly treating (name) like any other person and not his boyfriend.

Not his first kiss.

Not his first love.

Just some buddy he could toss aside.

He envied Kanae so much, he couldn't bring himself to hate her... But why did she have to make him fall in love with her?

(name) always had self confidence issues and this just put the nail in the coffin.

He didn't even realize where he was going as the sun set and he lay on a hill crying when he realized his boyfriend probably wasn't looking for him.

Eventually he made his way back, an air of sadness around him and just wanted to get to his room without seeing anyone.

But he wasn't so lucky.

"(name)?" Tengen asked curiously as he took in the sight of his friend who looked so... Defeated.

"what happened?" He asked genuinely concerned and that's all it took for (name) to break down crying, the white haired man leading him to a more private area as (name) cried his heart out a second time and barely was able to explain why he was so sad.

(name) had come to the conclusion that his boyfriend was cheating on him.

And tengen couldn't blame him, if one of his wife's did that? He would think that too.

Tengen listened to his woes and told him to talk to Sanemi "y-yeah I think I will... Thanks"

Walking through the halls (name) went to his boyfriends room and opened the door "Sane can we.... talk"

Before him was his boyfriend being straddled by a kiss drunk Kanae... Confirming his suspicions "(name)! Shit!" Sanemi said panicked as he quickly moved Kanae off him "nope! Fuck I knew it!" (Name) yelled out as Kanae tried to collect herself "I can explain!"

"oh that was explanation enough!"

(name) pushed him away when he got to close and ran down the halls and out of the compound, sadness and rage built inside of him as he walked the road to town and body shaking in the dead of night.

God he felt so alone.

Kanae is right there. Waiting in front of my dojo, like she usually does. A sweet smile and a “Good morning, Shinazugawa-kun” in the morning is something I can’t avoid. Her jet black hair radiates under the saturated sunlight. The butterflies accessories on her hair flip their wings a little as she nods her head. The mixed scent of melon and sakura tingles the nose. Her presence almost makes me swayed. I try to hold back. I hold back the urge to fall into her embrace. I don’t want to show weakness in front of her. Even if I managed to convince my body, my heart doesn’t want to cooperate.

“Can I come in? I bring some ohagi for you.” For a split second, I can’t take my eyes away from your lips. I thought you were using something to make your thin lips as red as an apple, but I was wrong. Everything on you is naturally beautiful. “Shinazugawa-kun.” You tilted your head to the side a little. Blinking as you waited for my answer.

“I don’t mind.” I brushed my nose with the back of my hand. “But I’m a bit worn out today.”

We are standing in front of the gate and I just came back from my demon hunting mission. I didn’t get to have proper sleep in the past three days. I’ve had nightmares lately and it’s as if my body was sinking to the hole. I need a rest. An actual rest. Not to mention I have this stinging feeling from the fresh wounds and gashes on my body since I only tended to them with barely decent treatment.

“I bring some ohagi.” You said, repeating those words fast. “I made it myself. I want Shinazugawa-kun to try it.” She is still being persistent for me try the ohagi despite already explaining my condition to her. However, I dont’ mind that at all. In fact, I find it quite amusing. Her presence is never a bother afterall.

Once again, I pay attention to your lips who shines more because you lick it. It was only for a second but it makes my heart skips a beat. “Do whatever you like." I try to brush off the thumping in my heart. I open the gate to my estate and I can already feel your gleeful grin behind my back.

“I don’t really know why, but I want to spend the day with Shinazugawa-kun today.” Her shoulder brushes my arm. “Shinobu said, that maybe ... I’ve fallen for you.” I reflexively turn my head to see you. Our eyes meet for seven seconds. “Shinobu might just be joking, right?” You are smiling, again, with your eyes almost squinting. I decide to look away from you because my face feel warm for no reason.

Kanae brew some green tea for both of us after ten minutes of arguing to decide who-should-prepare-the-tea. I lost so it’s decided that Kanae will prepares the tea for us while I sit back and wait at the tatami behind the pond. Maybe I lost to you on purpose. Because it makes my heart all fluttery watching your serious face, lost in thought brewing the tea for us. Every movement you make brings smile to my face.

“By the way, I also bring along some medicine you can take during your misison. I’ve blended some stuffs into an ointment you can use to treat infection.” You start a light conversation while pouring some tea to the empty cup. “Shinobu was the one to come up with the idea. She said, this ointment is perfect for someone like you, Shinazugawa-kun.” I can’t help but laugh at the idea that these sisters often talk about me. It makes me happy to know Kanae is concerned for me.

I watch your slim and pale fingers as they unwrap the fabric with tulips motive covering a box inside. Upon opening the box, there are nine red balls placed neatly. They are all red beans ohagi, my favorite food. Kanae gestures at me with a smile to take the first bite.

“There were originally ten ohagi ... but I gave one to a crying child I met on my way here.”

I’m glad to hear that. You have always been kind afterall. I have no doubt of that. You are the first Hashira to try and get close to me after Himejima-san. Your sensitive and kind nature give sense of comfort to people around you, you taught me that. Even if in the end, I stay true to myself, you never stop showing me the beauty in this darkness. Without realizing, I say something that’s not really my nature.

“Kanae-san, starting from tomorrow, you don’t have to wait for me in front of the gate.” I say as I glance at your face, full of anticipation for my next words. “Just wait for me inside the dojo.”

A gentle breeze lightly moves your butterfly hairpins. A dry leaf falls on top of your head. I take it without permission, out of reflex. Your eyes widen but you’re smiling in the next second. Your cheek reddens as I gently stroke your smooth hair. Deep inside, I want to repeat those actions, but i’m afraid that you might hate it. I never once give a damn whether people like me or not. But you are different. I don’t want you to put a distance and go away as soon as the lifespan of a butterfly. You’re special to me.

“Kanae-san, I like your hair.” I was surprised when I heard your voice and immediately stop caressing her hair. “You should have said that to make a woman happy, Shinazugawa-kun.” Instead of continuing my movent, I retract my hand from her hair and balled them into a fist on top of my knee.

You pulled the edge of your lips from side to side. Your eyes shines from reflecting the sunlight. I’ll make sure to burn this moment deep into my mind. The moment where the passion of youth flares within me. I want to close the gap between us, weave my fingers with yours and and put my cold lips on yours. I want to know how it feels. Will it tastes like honey or maybe peach? I want to know. It’s not even enough to just feel the silkiness of your hair once. I want to caress your hair for as many times as possible, so you’ll never forget this dirty hand of mine that’ll ruin you someday. You are afterall the beauty in this crude life of mine.

“Shinazugawa-kun?” You softly call my name.

That gentle voice snaps me out of my inappropriate fantasy. I feel like, I can hear the thumping of my heart. Kanae scent filled the entire room. While I still try to recollect myself you put on that sweet smile again. I lost count at how many times you have smiled at me today.

‘Kanae-san .... ”

I only watch as you smile sweetly. Too sweet even. Like a once in a lifetime prize. Perhaps this is just a hunch but I feel like, I have failed to be of use for Kanae. Kochou Kanae.

That smile of yours along with the tinge of red on your cheek on that day are the thing I long for the most.

The next day, you are not in front of my gate, my terrace, and my living room. You are nowhere in any corner of my dojo. A black crow guides me to your resident. I want to ask Shinobu your whereabout. Shinobu said, you reside in my heart, in hers, and in the heart of everyone who knows you. She said, you’ll grow within me as the time passed. Blooming like the hydrangea nearby my pond. Kanae, do you ever need the wind?

Maybe ... I've fallen for you.

It might be possible for you, but not me. I may have fallen for you, Kanae. Ever since you left, I feel like I’ve been living inside of a cocoon. I’m afraid of coming out of this feeling, I have for you. Because I'm no longer a whole. My wings are halved. You took half of it. I let you took it from me, so my feeling will always wraps you in a warm embrace wherever you are now.

i saw the sanekana headcanons and oh my gosh what a feast but i want to talk about the brief mention of sanemi and mitsuri being bffs because... yes!! 😍😍

imagine mitsuri tells some of her friends in high school (because she's a bit younger so she'd still be in school when he's already in university) that a friend of hers is gonna pick her up and then it's sanemi shinazugawa whom most of them only know as that one super rude guy that always causes trouble. and to imagine mitsuri hopping on his motorcycle and waving excitedly at her friends as they drive off while sanemi doesn't even look at them 😂

they would have this dynamic where sanemi stands behind mitsuri all the time and glares at everyone who's being weird to her but every once in a while she steps up for him (mostly when people are looking down on him or act a little asshole-ish about is scars or something like that) and whenever that happens he literally has to drag her away because she keeps going off on them 🤣💕

and mitsuri noticing that he's so insecure about the colorblindness and buying flowers, please, my heart cannot take it 🥺 it probably starts when valentines day is coming up and mitsuri drags sanemi along to go buy flowers for obanai and she notices how he stops all the time and looks at the flowers in a kind of hesitant way. and she probably doesn't want him to be too embarrassed, so she says something like: "kanae would love these, those are her favorite colours" and he looks at her and quietly says: "you sure?" and it breaks her heart a teeeeny tiny bit 🥹❤️❤️😭

AHHH I LOVE THESE HOLY-

-Sanemi pulling up on his motorcycle, a bright pink flowery helmet in hand so Mitsuri will be safe. He lets her hug him before telling her to hurry up before "we bail on Mcdonalds" (Total bluff- he still got her food). Sanemi not even looking back at her HS friends his hilarious akreajrkaewrkjaerkjaewkjr She's all happy and smiling while her friends are just: O-O''

-AH GOD I LOVE THAT!!! Protective Sanemi; he's got the scary glare and guard dog vibe while Mitsuri's charming the pants off everyone she meets. I like to think they go out together with everyone- maybe bowling, karaoke- whatever; and some dude's chatting her up, flirting with her and she's fairly oblivious to it cause she's having such a great day with her friends. The dude goes to "help" her adjust her grip on the bowling ball and Sanemi's right there like: "Alright buddy- paws off." She didn't need help of course- the girl's got quite the arm- something everyone learns when she rolls the ball with so much force it puts a dent in the of the back wall-whoops.

-MITSURI HELP! She's vicious when she wants to be- especially in regards to her big brother figure. Sanemi's scary, but he's also such a sensitive soul? He won't show it, but he bleeds easily- and Mitsuri knows this so if someone's talking smack or being gross regarding his face or scars or vibe she's all: "WHO ARE YOU? SANEMI'S AMAZING AND WONDERFUL AND YOU'RE JUST A PIECE OF-" He has to carry her off at that point before she starts throwing hands akjrjearkjaekjrkja It's a liiiiiiittle embarrasing but also lowkey he loves it cause he knows she'll be fine in the world.

-Canon moment! Sanemi can't write as we know; I think for the AU he might have some form of dysgraphia (learning disability that affects writing). Typing is a breeze but handwriting? Nope- not at all. Mitsuri on the other hand has gorgeous handwriting and writes all his notes for him when he can't use his laptop or recording device (also she helps him with notes to Kanae shhhh~ It's his words she just writes them down; maybe she gives some suggestions here or there).

-Mitsuri and Sanemi with the colorblindness oh my HEART!!! He has so much faith in her and Mitsuri is the queen of flower giving; she gets all the details from Shinobu (they're in the same class I've decided) about what Kanae loves and relays it back to Sanemi. It's not just with flowers of course- anything with colors and patterns he'll send a picture to Mitsuri like: "What is it and do you think she'd like it?" (75% it's "Love the pattern, not the color. The one to the left of it- yes." 20% of the time it's "That's the one great pic!" and 5% it's "Sanemi that's a Venus Fly Trap")

-Okay so; Little time skip; I feel like Mitsuri when she graduates she comes to the same University Sanemi attends (he put in a good word for her and it's in town) and that's where she meets Obanai. It's pretty much love at first sight (at least that's how Sanemi sees it lols) and now he gets the opportunity to play matchmaker like she did for him. Still very "Break her heart and I'll break your legs" to his bestie but like; also "She loves pink and cute stuff and food. Good luck bud." You know? They help each other out klarkjaekjrajkrkja
