I keep seeing you mention Bart as the "Scariest YJ member" and I would love your full analysis of why that is (aka I kind of want to explore writing evil/morally grey YJ but i'm not as familiar with canon stuff)
Thank you in advance and btw always love your stuff <33
I'll warn that I'm not as familiar with Bart's canon, but yes he does scare me. I'm struggling a bit to put it into words, but hopefully this is close.
The other YJ members are obviously powerful. Tim and Bart are the only ones to probably be underestimated by a new villain. Tim's completely human, and Bart keeps up a demeanor of being a bit of an air head.
However, Tim is extremely intelligent and willing to go to lengths that aren't considered morally okay. Every hero and villain knows that, though. He's Batman's protege. Everyone knows the Bats are a paranoid bunch, probably have contingency plans against you, can beat you in a fight, and that Tim is considered a genius. He's a threat, and if you underestimate him, he'll ensure you never do again.
Bart? He's insanely smart and has a photographic memory. He is an overall great guy, but he was raised in a virtual reality of the future. He had accelerated aging until his morphological age of 12, or the chronological age of two. He most likely doesn't have the same ties to social standards of acceptable behaviors and acceptable levels of violence. Before he was zapped into the past, he also was dealing with world ending perils. I'm not sure I'm explaining this right, but Bart is like a hidden danger. He's bubbly and kind personality wise, but he knows how to vibrate your skeleton out of your skin. He might be impulsive and he might talk a lot, but he can and will obliterate you.
He purposefully doesn't threaten people. Kon could stand there glaring to intimidate people. Cassie too. Tim would raise an eyebrow as he dares you to cross him. Bart? He doesn't really try to intimidate. He can, he could list the various ways he could utilize the speedforce to cause you excrutiating pain, but he doesn't. If he did intimidate someone in that way, he would immediately switch back to jabbering on about this or that with a happy demeanor. The others don't have as tight of a claim to a bubbly personality as Bart.
Bart is consistently overlooked and underestimated by the hero community and villains. His demeanor causes people to lower their guards and underestimate him (whether intentional or not). If Bart would go evil, I think he would act the exact same. He would babble on about positive and happy things as he kills people. He wouldn't be much different from how he currently is if he committed atrocities, and that's scary.
Hopefully, that kind of explains why he's so scary. He hides how insanely powerful he is (intentionally or not) and isn't taken as seriously. His team knows better, but everyone else? No.

Yj takes to mocking their mentors behavior after being lectured for being irresponsible and the public’s perception of YJ
Bart is going on about science that no one would understand even if he wasn’t talking at Mach 3 and popping out of no where going ‘flash fact-’ or starting a fight with a villain while eating an entire large pizza
Tim’s whaling on some fucking rogue and dude is 🤏🏾 close to being unconscious and tim goes “😡 now talk” (it doesn’t make it better that the rest of yj is in hysterics)
Anita mimicks the powers of whichever magic user she’s seen or heard most recently unless she gets bored and decides to act out horror movies which just leads to a villain cutting the power but they realize Anita showed up and they’re frantically trying to turn the power back on bc everyone thinks she’s actually possessed
Kon goes full on ‘Fear not, citizen! For I have arrived, a lone kryptonian with naught but justice in his heart’ along with saving one specific reporter first in every disaster (it’s linda and she thinks this is hilarious) he does hero landings and he says all the cheesy hero lines just bc he knows sometimes the medias perception of Clark annoys him (there’s a clip of a fan confessing and Kon goes on about how his only love is justice)
Greta before retirement is saying the lanterns oath before every attack and clowning Tim any chance she gets but Greta after retirement occasionally does crowd control which is just Greta doing finger guns and saying shit like totally tubular and gnarly while leading civilians away from danger or going on long winded rants about planes
Cissie is telling every person she saves that’s at least five years younger than her that she’s adopting them and then paying off some random debt and never speaking to them again or flirting with whichever member of yj is closest/has already taken down their opponent this doesn’t change much when Cissie retires, she just starts filing paperwork to adopt whoever gets second place and she will tell everyone that she’s married to the yj member on the news no matter where she is or what she’s doing
Cassie has a battle axe, a shield, and a lasso and somehow manages to use all three every fight while mimicking Diana’s speech patterns and demolishing anyone that gets a hit on yj (the only thing ww takes offense to is Cassie’s over the top feigned ineptness when it came to technology ‘Suffering Sappho! What is this strange contraption?!’ ‘🤨 my fucking phone??’)

Tim: I will make sure you are never born
Bart: If this is how you talk to your friends, I'd hate to be your enemy!
Tim: Yeah. You would.

He loves Jason on most days he's pretty confident that's it mutal.
Brothers and all that shit clearly something happened either Bruce being a bitch or whatever else can make him insecure. That still doesn't give Jason the right to hold a gun to his head and be a fucking prick.
"What are you gonna do now Tim-Tam still so trusting of your big brother."
Self Deprecating is not a good look on Jason Todd.
Now normally this is where Tim takes a step back softens his tone gives the I love you Jay, I know you wouldn't hurt me, we are past this.
Hey he has this down to a science.
Yet he doesn't feel like it appealing to his big brother by rolling over.
Instead he steps forward the gun cold against his forehead he already sees that Jay is unbalanced concern overtaking the anger that seems to linger in the Red Hood.
"I don't have to trust you," he knows that he is making Jason uncomfortable that he threw the entire situation into something different.
He grabs the gun taking his time disarming it.
"I could call Dick, he might kill you if I ask nicely enough or, I could yell for my super who has been listening since I let my heart race I don't have to fear you Jason."
Pushing him to the end of the roof which normally couldn't happen perks of being built like a fridge.
"I don't actually have to deal with you if I don't want to and putting you down would be so easy. Hold another gun to my head and it will be the last thing you do. I would love to see Outlaws versus Young Justice who do u think would win?"
He can't help the laughter as he walks away he does love his brother but he won't be a punching bag to a pissed off teenager who never got to read the end of Hamlet.

batfam being cryptids: boring, over done, theyre just some people in masks if you shot them theyre done-zo
flash fam being cryptids: new, exiciting, they are intrinsically tied to an eldritch multiversal force that gives them the power to change the very fabric of time *by Accident* and that when not harnessed properly will Kill them and possibly destroy entire universes

if there is one thing that Bart is getting out of this Dark Crisis it's that he saw through the whole Paradise charade from the getgo so he can hold it over Tim and Conner for the rest of their lives. And I laughed when I saw how Fake-Cassie tried to tempt Bart with the whole "you'll be the next Flash" as Bart, who never cared about that in the first place, just went, "i can _literally_ see the cracks in this world."
Oh god yeah 🤣
You couldn't pay Bart to be the Flash. He even says that he doesn't want to be the Flash in issue 1 of Young Justice Dark Crisis. You can really tell that he's not impressed with the offer lmao.
Honestly Bart is super in character in this series and it's amazing but it's also so confusing because how do you understand Bart so well (aside for that one comment about Barry being easier to talk to than Wally) but misunderstand Cassie, Cissie and Conner so much???? I just don't get it.
Back to Bart though, the cracks in reality comment and the heavy focus on Bart's competency has me wondering if Bart's gonna crack this reality like an egg.
My current theory is that Fake Cassie is Mr. Mxyzptlk's son. Fake Cassie has been shown altering reality with her snaps and Bart said that she was 'pulling the strings' so to speak. If Fake Cassie really was fake then reality wouldn't exactly be bending around her. I don't think she's a construct, I think she's this Mikey guy in disguise.
Fake Cassie says something about 'him' being upset that they aren't playing along and I think Fake Cassie (Mikey) was referring to Pariah. He's the ones creating these fake worlds and trapping people in them and he also has an army of brainwashed bad guys working for him, so I could definitely see Pariah letting Mikey collect Young Justice and trap them in one of his worlds. Mikey definitely has a Young Justice obsession and probably begged to be the one to do it (I mean same tho lol)
So yeah, long story short, I think Mikey has this world on loan and it'd just be an awful shame if something were to happen to it. Just real bad luck. I mean, it'd be so terrible if Bart were to use those cracks in reality that he can see and the world's slower processing speed and use that information to completely crash reality. But Bart wouldn't do a thing like that, no siree. I'm sure Bart will be as delicate with reality as any other speedster.
Okay but seriously though, if they're going up against a multidimensional imp then they need some serious leverage. I'm sure we all remember when Mr. Mxyzptlk turned the boys into fingers. How do you fight that? Only thing I can think of is Bart turning on his scary eyes with extra extra lightning and threatening to break his toys.

Sorry Kon, we’ve once again reversed Sins of Youth, you never get to age past 16 apparently.
Despite being the first in your cohort to have a wife and kid.

Mysteries of the Moonshaes - Crownet Company D&D session sketches One failed wisdom save rendered our Fighter/Bard, Bart, under the control of an unseen enemy. The crew of the Duke’s Exchange he was initially trying to protect now appeared as undead monsters in need of slaying, and the Crownet Company were their grisly leaders.
And he needed to protect the world from these abominations.
