Summary:

Gale meets a young cleric named Shadowheart on the road to Reithwin, who turns out to be more than she appears.

Shadowheart leaned forward. “You talk as though you are nothing without Mystra.”

“Because I’m not,” Gale said heatedly. “Mystra is the Weave incarnate. She is the very essence that thrums through my veins. She is my meaning, my purpose, my expression…”

“Yes, yes, fear and trembling and awe,” Shadowheart said dismissively. Gale would have spluttered in indignation, but he had been expecting such a reaction. “You are a student of magic.”

“I consider myself a student of Mystra first and foremost,” He was aware of a wrinkle in his logic somewhere. Some concealed splinter eluded his attempt to reach for it. Gale wondered if he had ever admitted that thought to himself out loud.

Shadowheart leaned back and stared at him. Her expression was unreadable. “You are much more a creature of loss than you are a creature of magic.”

My main question so far in playing BG3

In my playthrough, it is shown that no matter how Shadowheart is punished, no matter how many times they wipe her memory, in the end, she rebels some way against Shar. So my question is, why go through all of that trouble for one person? Why didn't Shar just let Shadowheart go?

I know that Shadowheart's family were followers of Selune and Shadowheart was even on her pilgrimage when she was abducted, but my God, Shar went through so much trouble for one person.

The House of Grief got wiped out and for what? A person who has shown that she will forever turn to the light when given the chance. I know it must have haven't Shar some glee to steal away someone who would be devoted to her sister hee parents locked up, almost punishing them for the crime of following Selune, but in the end, that is way top much work for one person.

I could see and understand if Shadowheart was Isobel, and it was Isobel's parents in place of Shadowheart's. Considering that Ketheric was a Paladin and general of Selune and the powerful position the family had. But Shadowheart’s family felt like commoners and Shadowheart was selected for whatever reason to be taken.

Perhaps it's a hubris thing from Shar but whatever it is, it fucked her over in the end.
