the sun shone bright, its rays gently falling on your wet skin as you watched him swimming in your pool.

it was the first time remus came to visit you to los angeles as you've been in london thousand of times and wanted to show him the beauty your state has to offer. he seemed to like it so far, taking some rest from rainy england in sunny california.

the golden liquid you poured into two wine glasses almost matched the color of his hair as he swam from one end of the pool to another — to you. you handed him one of the glasses and he took it from you with a smile on his face. your fingers brushed with his, sending electricity through your entire body.

"to being young," said remus.

you nodded. "to being young."

all you needed was him.

later that day, remus took you out for dinner. you believed you've been in every single restaurant in l.a. but your boyfriend proved you wrong.

the moment you walked in, you felt almost everyone's eyes on you. anxiety rushed through your body. almost as if remus could feel it, he gave you a reassuring squeeze and the weight on your shoulders suddenly dropped.

he lead you to an empty table by the window and pulled out your chair. you sent him a smile before sitting down and he took a seat opposite to you.

that was when you made the mistake to look around, locking eyes with numerous people who weren't very excited to see you and remus together.

"ignore them, dove," remus spoke, reading the menu. "they're just jealous of how beautiful you look tonight."

you knew that wasn't the truth but you appreciated him trying enough not to say anything about it anymore. you nodded and picked up the menu and did your best to ignore the glares.

okay, maybe reading the comments of this post wasn't the best idea, you thought to yourself as if it wasn't completely obvious.

it was the morning after your date with remus and you couldn't understand how these pictures were up already. doesn't the media have better things to do instead of not respecting your privacy and talking about whos hand you're holding?

what also made you angry was that none of the comments seemed to be mentioming the fact that remus recently broke up with someone. you, on the other hand, hadn't been in a relationship for six months.

not that you wanted everyone to attack your boyfriend but you'll be the one to pay the price for the things you two have been doing together. it wasn't fair.

and then you left him there, in your bedroom with confusion written all over his pretty features.

there was no point in keeping your relationship a secret. everyone knew. the picture of your and remus's faces were plastered on the front page of every magazine in north america and united kingdom (remus's friend james said so). still, you tried your best to spend as little time as possible with your boyfriend in public.

unfortunately, as soon as you left the gates of your property to meet remus, you were blinded by the harsh flashes of the cameras. it took your brain a second to register what was going on. remus was waiting there. his two bodyguards were trying to keep the paparazzi away from the two of you.

he completely ignored the question. he knew it wasn't true. you knew he knew.

remus got the door of the car for you and waited for you to get in before shutting it close. when he took a seat next to you and kissed you a "hello" before saying, "you look beautiful tonight", it was easy to forget all about the reality.

while posing for photos on the stairs, remus suddenly turned into you. his face was, out of the blue, too close to yours. you could see it in his eyes, feeling like you could read his mind.

"it's a big mistake," you said, though your smile said otherwise. "it might blow up in your pretty face."

Hi Maya! Band AU? Say no more! Okay, this one's fun! I haven't written much so I can't really share a snippet at the moment, but I've outlined the plot so I'm gonna share that (or parts of it at least).

First year of uni, they have seen each other because they both perform at the local pub (Lily with Snape, James with Sirius, Remus and Peter) but they officially meet at a Halloween party and things don't go well: James is a bit of a music snob to her on purpose because she's friends with Snape and thinks she deserves it. She obviously gets annoyed and they don't speak to each other for the rest of the year.

It's second year, months after her big argument with Snape and James and Lily meet again but this time at a house party with karaoke. He sings, Lily watches for a bit but then retreats to the balcony. After the song he walks outside to smoke and meets Lily there. He asks where Snape is, she simply says they're not friends anymore; their conversation is somewhat civil, but still brief. Some time passes, and Lily and Remus are studying at the student union while James appears out of nowhere. She's a bit cold to him (not really, she's just focused on studying), then James asks Remus if he wants to go to the cinema and Lily can come too. It's an olive branch, and she'd take it, but tells them that she has a date. In the following weeks they meet at more open mic nights, and afterwards Lily starts hanging out with the Marauders more. By December, James and Lily are sort of friendly but the band is having trouble finding a new bassist since Peter suddenly left (he's from another uni and hates commuting) so she tells them she can fill in for him just this time, but by mid January she's played with them a few times already and they ask her to join the band; they start performing more seriously from then on, and write music together, then spend their summer playing gigs (very small ones, in dingy bars in remote towns all over England, Scotland and Wales).

There's a time jump (I still haven't decided whether their undergrad degree is 3 or 4 years) and now they're months away from graduation. James and Lily are just friends, but they secretly have feelings for each other: they're afraid of being rejected, and on top of that they don't want to jeopardise everything and risk making things awkward because the band means too much to both of them. The band has a decent following, they even record some songs in the studio and release them independently. They receive a couple of offers from labels and they end up signing shortly after graduation. Some of them get a summer job, but they also start working on their album; they start touring as supporting acts for other artists in the following year, get more radio play, perform at a few festivals... and then it's time to release their first album, and when one of their songs goes viral, things change pretty quickly.

If this seems like spoiling the entire plot... don't worry. This is just the first half (not even that, probably just the first of three acts) of the story, and I'm sure this will be a beast to write with all the research I'm going to have to do. I'm scared honestly!

marauders band au

so i started the planning for my marauders band au and i’m focusing on each band and how they formed and here’s what i’ve come up with.

regulus’s band is called the emeralds because i saw someone on tiktok propose it as an alternate name to slytherin skittles. regulus is the lead singer and rhythm guitarist, pandora is also a lead singer and the bassist, Dorcas is the lead guitarist, barty is the drummer, emma vanity used to play rhythm guitar and keys but now evan plays keys and reg plays rhythm guitar. reg and pandora have been friends since they were little and so have evan and barty, but reg and pandora don’t really meet barty and dorcas until eighth grade. in high school they meet emma who is older and they all become friends (well minus evan). Evan moves on from them and makes new friends. About a year after they meet Emma they form a band (they play punk/rock/alt music of some sort). when their sixteen pandora convinces regulus to run away from home and they move out. later barty joins them and he drops out of high school. once the rest of them finish high school emma leaves the band to join the valkyries. and now they’re left wondering what to do about a keyboardist bc none of them know how to play. but then evan reaches out to pandora because his parents kicked him out and he needs help. so they take him in and then realize that he can play piano, so boom he’s in the band.

the girls band is called the valkyries. mary sings lead, marlene plays bass, lily plays rhythm guitar, emma plays lead guitar, emmeline plays drums and keyboard. mary and marlene dated in high school and met lily and emmeline through there. lily is originally a part of the marauders but she leaves in junior year which is also around the time that mary and marlene break up. when lily leaves the four of them start their band. later, emmeline and emma meet and emma joins the valkyries bc they were looking for another guitarist to complete their band.

and lastly, james’s band is the marauders. he was originally friends with lily and sirius and they started a band in middle school called gryffindor. but when they got to high school they met peter and remus and started the marauders. James is the bassist, sirius sings lead and plays rhythm guitar after lily leaves, lily plays rhythm guitar and percussion, remus plays drums, and peter plays lead guitar.

so yeah that’s basically all i have so far :)

You would think that one of the biggest bands in the world, which’s currently thriving off of the success of their latest album, would be disappointed that their last ever show ends in just under forty-eight hours.

But they’re not.

“Come on Remus, just get on the damn bus!” Remus yells to Lilly. “It will not make a difference whether we are in Rome at eight pm or nine pm dude.” Lily is fairly calm after what happened last night. She knows she did not do anything wrong, so why bother worrying about it?

Sirius lights up a cigarette while walking up the stairs, almost falling in the process. “Oui, I’m the lead singer. I can do whatever the hell I want, oui oui baguette.” Lily whispers to James in her best French accent. James snorts, making them laugh even harder than they already were. The media likes to think that they are all jealous of Sirius’ looks or partners because that’s the only explanation. But as a matter of fact, they all just liked to mess around with each other.

All in the bus, Sirius blows out some smoke and sits down at the front. He likes to look through the large front window while they drive to their next destination. He has never been to Rome and he is looking forward to it. Sirius closes his eyes and lets the sun fall onto his skin. He thinks back to yesterday. God, the band embarrassed him so much.

It all started last show, in Milan.

Everything was more than fine, or at least that is what they thought.

They were doing the sound check in the second-to-last show of their tour, becoming suddenly famous after someone had filmed them in the streets of London.

It had been a big surprise for all of them, but who cares? They were young and famous, what more do you need?

Turns out that it wasn’t everything.

When the soundcheck was done they headed inside to get ready and then headed out to an interview right before their show.

At the interview, they were a little bit nervous, some clearly more than others. James was a clear example; he couldn’t stop fidgeting with her rings.

The interviewer welcomed them all and said he would start in a few seconds.

The band took one last deep breath when the cameraman started counting, three, two, one…

“Welcome everyone, for today’s show I will be interviewing the gold mine of the rock industry, The Marauders,” the interviewer had started.

“Most of you probably already know them, but I will make a short introduction,” the camera was now pointed at the band, to which the band responded with a small wave.

“On the drums, James, our loved bassist Remus, on the guitar Lily and the best, the most loved and leader of the group, our neighbour from France, Sirius, the singer,” after the ‘warm’ welcome the band had lost their enthusiasm (not including Valerie).

The interview went on, but none of the band members were really included in the questions that were asked. At least Sirius seemed to be enjoying himself.

“And for my last question, Sirius would you consider doing a solo career?” the interviewer asked.

Remus and Lily shared a knowing, but it was only after Sirius’ response that they snapped.

“Yes, I have received a few calls the last month and I and my advisers are working on it,” Sirius finished. He had just dropped that bomb as nothing else mattered more than his fame, how ridiculous could he be? Even after all they had been through with the band.

“Well, I guess that it is our time to say goodbye. Once again, thank you for having me–” the interviewer was cut by Remus.

“Actually, I have a few things I would like to say,” Remus was getting angrier by the time and since he and Sirius were dating he thought they were going to be honest with each other, but instead he chose to keep that hidden and that had been the last drop.

“WE, the band, are a group, GROUP. We have no ‘leader’ or whatever you would like to call it,” he continued and James joined.

“We are doing this together as friends, and no solo career is going to stop us,” James said. “Besides, who would want to hear a singer without its band?” Lily had also joined in.

After their little ‘explosion’, Sirius’ words, the program ended and they were left alone in the room.

With angry faces and even angrier thoughts.

But the show needed to go on. And that’s what they did.

Leaving us to today.

When Remus mentions the interview on the bus, everybody starts fighting. They keep saying that Sirius is betraying everyone and that he is leaving them with nothing. But they agreed to tho this tour right? Sirius keeps thinking.

“Look Sirius, if you want to start your own solo career, fine! But we had a plan! We were going to do this last tour and then take a break for ourselves. After this tour, not now! So, either stop acting like a bitch and get on with it or get the FUCK OUT!” Remus snaps.

Silence falls over the entire bus, you could hear a guitar pick drop.

Sirius could not believe what had happened. He and Remus fighting and the rest of the band just watching them like Remus and him are animals at the zoo. It wouldn’t have been the first time the two had had their discussions, but something like this had never occurred.

James looks five seconds away from asking the bus driver for some popcorn.

Lily has never been silent for this long on the tour bus. Is it all falling apart right in front of her? Their friendship was so strong when the band started to take off seven years ago and now they cannot even finish their tour as friends?

They should be reminiscing stories about their first-ever big gig in the ‘Melkweg’ in the Netherlands and sobbing that it is all going to be over soon.

Not this.

Everyone looks at Sirius with anticipation. “He is not going to quit, right?” Lily thinks. Sirius can’t be that stupid. He is not blonde, blonde would look horrible on him. “Should we stop staring at him?” James whispers in Lily’s ear. “He has probably gotten used to being stared at now,” she whispers back.

Sirius looks around the bus, seems to spot something and walks towards it.

His bag. Remus' eyes widen, “No,” he says under his breath. “Pull over,” Sirius says to the bus driver, whose name, even after months of touring Europe, they still do not know. He pulls over at the side of the highway and Sirius opens the door. “Don’t ever tell me what to do,” he says and walks out.

When they are ten kilometres closer to Rome and away from Milan, Lily is the first to say something: “What the actual fuck dude.” They all knew Sirius had anger issues but not that it was this bad. After Lily broke the silence they all looked at each other with a face of shock and agreement. "So what do we do now?" asked James. This question was followed with even more silence until the bus driver stopped at a gas station and turned back around. And once again everyone looked at each other with a face of shock and agreement.

They were going to get their vocalist, their friend, back!

Before the bus is even out of his eyesight Sirius panics. He is literally on the side of the highway because of this fight. The band has fought before but not like this. Who the fuck is Remus to make him go out of the bus, after everything they had been through together? Does he think he can do this without her? He is Sirius fucking Black, you can’t make a good show without a star. No, he can’t quit now, quit the band before the last show of their tour. He has to finish what he started, with everybody; Lily, James and that sexy fucker, Remus. They are family, and Remus still is the love of his life.

Only if they were nearby. Tu tuuu, he turned around. And there they were. His family.

"Look there he is!" screams Lily. Everyone is immediately on the edge of their seat because no one knows how Sirius will react this time. The bus stops next to Sirius and everyone is greeted with his long middle finger. "C'mon Sirius, we can't just cancel the entire gig because you had a temper tantrum," says James. Sirius keeps walking down the side of her road, still giving her fellow band members the finger. Sirius is not letting them win her over that easily. They will have to work for her. "Sirius, you know you love your fans and singing, you can't just let them and yourself down like this. We know you're mad, but like you used to say, music is what brings us together, right?" Remus’ words seem to hit Sirius as he stops and thinks for a moment. After a while, he gets back on the bus and says: "Let's just get this over with." Sirius says as if he is not excited to be back on the bus. The bus driver starts driving again and everyone is cheering Sirius on for coming back to his senses.

After a very silent ride to Rome, the band finally arrives in the eternal city, all in one piece. "I'd say it was a decently pleasant ride considering no one died along the way." James is always good at lightening the mood, and once again his skill comes in handy, as everyone lets out a little giggle. Unfortunately, James’ attempt to help the situation is in vain, because soon after, the tension rises again as reality hits that this could be their last show, ever.

Now, the band is waiting for their queue to get on stage, what ends up being 5 minutes feels like a lifetime. With a mix of nerves, anger and excitement, the band approaches the stage. Within a second of their grand appearance, the crowd roars and screams. James begins playing that well known beat shortly after, and everyone's worries seem to wash away.

Throughout the songs, everyone seems to forget their fight, and they actually have some fun. And then, the dreaded last song of the show begins. Even though they aren’t sad about all of this ending, this song brings back some old memories. The first hit song they ever wrote. Everyone is brought back to the first show they ever held together. They were so happy their dreams came true, and now, it's ending? They wanted this life so bad, and now they're waiting for this dream to end. Is this really what they all wanted? They come back to reality when everyone starts clapping. Time seems to slow as the audience makes their way to their feet to give their favourite band, who is stopping, a standing ovation. This feeling was always the best, you know the people love you and all your insecurities start to wash away. Although this time, it does not feel like they remember. This time, when they look at each other they are filled with regret and disbelief.

Before they know it the show is over and they are backstage. They are done. The room is filled with silence. Sirius looks at Lily whose eyes are filled with tears. Lily has never seen Remus with such a sad look on his face and James doesn’t know what to do with himself.

They look at each other another time before Sirius says the thing they all hoped someone would say.

“So, seven o’clock in the studio tomorrow?”

ok classic marauders wolfstar/jily band au where james, sirius and peter have known each other/been in a band together for years, then remus joins later for whatever reason and shenanigans ensue but the shenanigans are as follows

remus and lily, childhood besties, are seen together by the media and someone asks if theyre dating

seeing a prime opportunity to fuck w ppl, they say yes

remus texts the marauders gc “the media thinks im dating lily” and someone responds “oh no why??” and remus says “because we told them lol”

remus and lily think this communicates “haha look at this funny prank we’re all in on now”

james and sirius think this means “you didnt know we were dating? dumbass” (they’d already caught feelings by this point and are devastated )

peter thinks this means “the next few months are going to be Hilarious”

so sirius and james will sit in a corner together like “oh woe is me, why do i always want what i cannot have, life is so unfair but i feel extreme guilt for feeling this way bc im friends w my crush’s SO and i hate that i feel this way :(((((“

meanwhile remus and lily are like “oh em gee are they looking this way? how do we look? theyre totally into us right?”

finally the article drops that remus lupin, bassist for popular band The Marauders, and his long-time girlfriend, lily evans, have broken up

(its an amicable split to counteract rabid fans as much as possible, but they plan to write some vagueblog-y songs for maximum drama)

and james and sirius are like yes! i have a chance! but also i feel terrible bc my friends are hurting

and they rock up at practice like “im abt to make an atmosphere that is so safe and comforting and judgement free for everyone involved…” but lily and remus r just. chilling as usual

some marauders era hcs me and my friend made at 1 am because we literally don't have anything better to do// pt.1

-Sirius forms a shitty rock band in hogwarts after falling in love with muggle music.

-He is the bassist.

-He also probably has a tattoo on the back of his neck hidden by his long hair, since his parents can't see it that way.

-Remus always joins his practice before concerts, giving him feedback.

-Remus is also the one who helped him learn how to play. Once he learnt that Sirius wanted to play bass, he brought him all the books he could find about it.

-He watches Sirius's progress like a proud mom.

-When they can't sleep at night, Sirius casually starts playing his guitar.

-In the second year, he brings his guitar home and Walburga (obviously) breaks it. She tells him to concentrate on his studies.

-He cries in his room for hours. When he returns to Hogwarts, he receives a bass guitar as an anonymous gift. He figures it is Regulus.

-Regulus writes poems, though he usually never shares them with anyone.

-He writes poems confessing his love for James and he decides to give the good ones to his brother for him to turn them into lyrics.

-Sirius keeps teasing him on who this 'lucky lady" is and Regulus keeps getting red with embarassment whenever it is mentioned.

-Since they can't really talk to each other at daytime, they sneak out into the astronomy tower in some nights to chat.

-Regulus tries to smoke with his brother to look cool, but he keeps coughing so Sirius makes fun of him for it for weeks.

-While they are chatting, Regulus wants to ask for dating advice but his crush being James, it is nearly impossible for him to gather the courage to do that.

-He also tries to learn James's likes and dislikes while Sirius is talking about the things he does with the marauders. He holds on to every word.

oooo interesting okay i kinda imagine this is as like the boys are very new to their music blowing up, they've only played small venues they managed to get last minute and then got picked up by a more famous group that brought them on tour, so now they're more well known. poor remus hates the spotlight a little whilst james and frank thrive, peter is in the middle he likes the benefits but everyone staring is a lot. and getting invited to events and award shows is daunting...then remus sees sirius one night just posing for the cameras and it becomes a meme OVERNIGHT on tiktok of this one fucking clip of bassist remus lupin staring with heart eyes at supermodel sirius black and sirius messages him flirting and remus DIES peter, james and frank are hyping him up so hard too theyre like dude youre hot af go for it and remus just thinks hes so out of league he cant see sirius dating someone like him but then sirius approaches him at another award show and they flirt and its beautiful james sheds a tear

peter question, do you have any headcanons about his friendships with the other marauders and girls + reggie. Like who hes closest to, what they like to do together etc.

id say he's closest to the other marauders + mary. obviously like, the marauders are the marauders. annoying little inseparable friend group. but separately, i feel like james is sort of who peter goes to for advice/personal feelings and stuff and james does the same, to a degree, with him. they'd also like,, do art-y stuff, like peter loves painting and james needs something to occupy his hands and mind so theyll paint together outside or something. with sirius their friendship is mostly pranks and jokes and stuff since both of their limits in pranks are a lot higher than remus and james, like sirius and peter have looser morals and dont think of consequences as much. remus and peter's friendship is more calmer ig. both introverts and after hanging out with the others theyd like hang in silence to energise a bit, reading, doing some work, playing chess, etc.

with mary. i headcanon mary as aroace and peter as aromantic, so they hang out a lot when others are off on dates, usually during hogsmeade weekends and stuff. they'd probably like, gossip and stuff together, confide in each other about their doubts in the order. james may be who peter talks to about his family issues, or self worth and stuff. but mary was who he talked to about more selfish thoughts, not wanting to risk his life, because mary felt the same.

he's also fairly close to lily, marlene, and emmeline. with emmeline, they mostly hang out with mary as well, going shopping, gossiping, very casual hanging out. did date for a bit tho, before both realising they didn't particularly like each other romantically. with marlene, their friendship is mostly mutual dyed-blonde respect and music. both forming a band together during school- marlene the bassist and peter the lead singer and guitarist. with lily, they're less close than with the others but still hang out quite a bit, just usually also with others. peter's fairly good at potions so i feel like after lily stopped being friends with snape, they'd be potion partners.

with the others, i dont really think he was that close to them. maybe a little with pandora and sybill with emmeline dating them. in my fic where regulus gets given the horcrux later, so he's still alive with peter being a death eater, they become good friends, bonding over their mutual betrayals of literally everyone and everyone wanting to kill them both. but i dont really think they would have been friends in school. he probably hung out with the slytherins a couple times, with marlene dating dorcas and jegulily/jegulus or whatever. but never hanging out without everyone else as well.

Rising from obscurity in the recent months, London AltPunk Revival band Votre Populi has skyrocketed to the top of the UK Alternative charts and has quickly made its way overseas to a budding North American audience as well. I had the pleasure of sitting down with all five members at VICE UK HQ on Monday for their second interview with us, and was thrilled to find what every other modern punk-loving publication has said so far to be true: all five rockers are as handsome and charming as they are talented.

Votre Populi's face and voice, Sirius Black, is the notorious Bromley Contingent-style punk prettyboy who has stolen the hearts of Instagram users of all genders, but the band is more than just his lovely face; guitarist Remus Lupin, bassist James Potter, drummer Lily Evans Potter (that’s right folks, they’ve got a GIRL drummer!) and Peter Pettigrew on the synth.

Lily and James, as pictured in our gallery, tied the knot in spring after dating for three years, and have a baby boy called Harry as of the 31st of July. I wanted to ask the big questions, and know how their life as parents and newlyweds has affected the band.

VICE UK: First of all. Welcome back to the VICE UK office. It’s so great to have you here again, and after such a busy year!

LILY: More like during, really. Album’s not ready yet, after all, and after that, there’ll be another bloody tour.

JAMES: But thank you! We’re happy to be here.

SIRIUS: Yeah Lily, don’t be a sourpuss.

LILY: (laughing) F**k off, you. Don’t tell me not to be a sourpuss until you give birth.

VICE UK: I can imagine it’s been very trying, Lily. A big wedding, a new baby, and then another album! How do you do it?

LILY: Drugs and alcohol mostly.

PETER: She’s kidding.

LILY: Obviously. The real answer is making the men do everything else for me. What use are men if they aren’t going to wait on me hand and foot?

SIRIUS: Hear hear!

LILY: Okay seriously, of course being busy has been stressful, but it’s also been very easy. I have an incredible support system, between these idiots and my family and James’s family, and our friends… The list goes on, but I assure you, I’ve been very lucky.

VICE UK: Oh, that’s so sweet! I’m sure having your husband there with you helps quite a bit. What about the other three? It must be strange to have two band members married. Do you ever feel left behind, or do you have special someones as well?

the bidding - this is the og band song: james asks remus to play a simple tune, and sings the first bit. then he asks each of the marauders to come up with a verse, and like that the Prongs and The Marauders band is born («yes but why prongs and the marauders? a bit egocentric on your side, eh potter?» «next time you start a band to impress the love of your life you pick the name, pads»)

i was a teenage werewolf - it takes a bit of persuading (and a lot of bribing), but sirius and james eventually convince remus to sing the damn song. it seemed like a funny idea while james and sirius were writing it, but now that they have a sweaty and angry and hot remus scream-singing the words for three minutes straight, sirius is not so sure anymore.

good old-fashioned lover boy - when they perform the song in front of the girls, james doesn’t actually sing. he just stands there acting out the words, while the other marauders sing in his place. at the end of the song, marlene, dorcas and mary laugh and cheer. lily claps politely, a bit red on the cheeks.

eleanor rigby, by the beatles - «i thought we weren’t a cover band» «this is different» «what he means, pads, is that this is evans’ favourite song»

you’re my best friend - is this song for lily? no. this is james and sirius’s bromance theme song. they are actually very sappy and cheesy while they sing it, and unfortunately for remus and peter they also need a bassist and a drummer to perform it.

lay all your love on me - is this song for lily? yes, in theory. in practice, this is a weirdly sexual duet between james and sirius. for some reason, it makes remus’ cheeks blush and his breath quicken a little. «do they… do they still want us here?» «i honestly don’t know, marls»

just like heaven - the thing is, james doesn’t really want lily to listen to this song. it’s all about what ifs, and kisses and dancing and all the little things james is planning on doing once she says yes. it feels private, too close to his personal fantasies. then again, if lily accidentally comes into the room of requirements exactly during the band’s reharsals, and if she accidentally forgets to make her presence known, and if her heart skips a couple of beats while listening to the lyrics… well, james doesn’t have to know, does he?

all star - someBODY ONCE TOLD ME-

she - now, this song is a brag. lily made the misake of sharing a muggle poem she likes with the marauders (with remus, really, but it is very difficult to catch one without the others), and james made a point to write his own version and sing it as loud as possible in the gryffindor common room. at 11 pm. multiple times. mcgonagall herself has to intervene to make it stop, and the marauders get a two weeks detention.

ever fallen in love (with someone you shouldn’t’ve?) - once, during reharsals, remus tosses a piece of paper towards james. «whoa, moony, i didn’t know you wrote too» «i don’t. that’s just… it’s just stupid. thought you might use it for evans, though» « uhm… thanks but, isn’t it a bit… i don’t know, hopeless? it’s just, i’m actually trying to get with her» «well you don’t have to sing it» «no, no. let’s try it. ready? one, two, three…»

lily evans - the first song james potter has ever written and the one that started the idea of the band altogether. it is also the song that finally breaks lily evans, who inexpectately starts crying quietly in the middle of the performance. once they notice, the boys stop playing. «hey, lily i’m sorry… i didn’t think this whole thing would upset you. we’ll stop playing, you’ll never hear us again, i sw-» «potter, would you like to go on a date with me?»
