When you woke up your head felt like it was in a fog, the edges of your vision slightly blurry as you looked around the room. Your bare feet dropped to the floor, you shivered as you stood from your bed, it was a lot colder in here than you remember it being. You paused at your doorway, something wasn't right. Despite the fact you had crossed the entire expanse of your bedroom there wasn't a single creaking floorboard or footstep to be heard. You look back at your bed only to find your body still laying there. “What the hell?” You mutter softly to yourself. You walk over to your still sleeping form, your shoulders rising and falling with every even breath as you lie motionless beneath the covers.
“Don't worry, you'll be able to re enter your body when we're done here.” You jumped at the sudden voice that seemed to come from nowhere and everywhere at the same time. Its tone is both a whisper and a deafening howl, the sound high pitched and somehow also impossibly low.
“God?” You ask with a confused expression.
The voice laughs, “I guess you could say that.” The silence that surrounded you was deafening as the voice faded out, it was so quiet you could hear your blood rushing in your ears, no ambient sound existed in whatever plane you had been snatched into. “Trust in Vessel, he’ll show you the way.”
You shot up in bed with a sharp gasp, your lungs burning like you had been holding your breath. Your alarm was blaring on your night stand, 8 in the morning, you had an hour until you opened. You got out of bed, listening carefully for the sound of your footsteps against the floor to make sure you really had returned from wherever the hell you had gone in your dreams. “I'm going crazy, I'm actually losing my mind.” You argue with your reflection in the mirror. “Some mysterious voice coming from my subconscious about trusting Vessel, of course I trust him. But what the hell is the way he's supposed to be showing me?” You decided to drop it for now with an annoyed groan, flying through your morning routine and jogging downstairs just as 9 o'clock rolled around. The day flew by, the steady stream of customers helping to distract you from the weird dream you had. You were just about to lock the door when the all too familiar pickup truck pulled into the lot. You smiled, pushing the door open and leaning against it as you waited to see just who had stopped by to visit tonight. You were a bit surprised to see II jump out of the cab unaccompanied, usually when he was sent to make supply runs he always had one of the others in tow. He strides over to you, reaching out to pull you into an embrace the moment you were close enough.
“I have a question for you.” He states softly once he pulls back, his hands still resting comfortably on your waist.
“And what might that be?” You smile, subconsciously leaning into him.
“Would you be comfortable coming back to camp with me?” You paused the moment the question fell from his lips. “Vessel already knows I'm inviting you, he's the one that brought it up in fact.” II chuckles, knowing exactly where your mind had wandered.
“I would love to.” He waits patiently for you to lock up, his hand slipping into yours, giving it a gentle squeeze as the two of you chat idly on your way back to the truck. You slid across the worn leather bench seat, II hopping behind the wheel not long after. He wraps an arm around your shoulders, leaning in to press a clothed kiss to your cheek.
“Are you warm enough?” You nod, letting your head fall to rest against his shoulder as he starts driving. His thumb languidly trailed back and forth across your shoulder, every so often he would glance down at you to see if you were still awake. You wound down endless back roads, slowly pushing your way down paths that had long since been forgotten until the group had ventured this far out into the woods. II attempted to dodge raised roots and potholes without much success, the makeshift road being filled with craters that rattled the pair of you around in the cab. You were thankful when the dirt path finally smoothed out, the trees opening up to reveal a large clearing with four cabins evenly spaced out around the circle. You recognized minimal details of it from the pictures you had seen in the paper. The cabin opposite the entrance was surrounded by flower beds of various sizes and states of growth, some containing a painter's palette of wildflowers, others filled with various crops that seemed to be growing very successfully. “That's IV’s cabin.” II must've noticed your impressed stare. “I will warn you though, if you compliment him on his gardening it will make him really flustered, so do with that information what you will.” He chuckles.
“Do you all have different jobs?” You ask curiously, II nods his confirmation.
“IV is the main one in charge of produce. III’s a fairly decent hunter, that's where we get the majority of the meat we eat. I’m in charge of the finances.” He lists off everyone's role around the camp. “And Vessel… well he's our spiritual advisor for a lack of a better term.” He chuckles. He pulls the truck up alongside a cabin that was more set back from the rest, it's dark wood almost blending in with the treeline.  “He’s in the middle of something, I'll take you to IV.” He smiles at you. He motions for you to wait, jogging around the front of the truck to open your door for you. He bows his head slightly as he offers his hand, you can't help but laugh softly at his actions.
“What a gentleman.” You grin at him.
“For you, only the best.” He winks. Your hand slips into his, his skin cool against yours. His eyes stay locked on your form as you hop down from the truck, the moment your feet hit the ground he's tugging you into his side, wanting to keep you as close as possible. “I'd like to be able to spend some time alone with you later, if that's alright.” The corners of your mouth quirk up in a smile at the slight nervousness you picked up in his voice. You glance up at him, pulling your bottom lip between your teeth before pushing yourself up to place a kiss to his cheek.
“I'd love to.” You whisper in his ear with a coy smile. Your attention was stolen by IV calling your name from across the clearing. II places a hand against the small of your back, gently nudging you in his direction. You meet him in the middle, giggling as he flings his arms around you and spins you in a hug.
“I missed you.” His eyes crinkle as he smiles, you found your cheeks growing warmth at the genuine joy in his voice.
“You did?” You ask softly.
“Yeah.” Goosebumps rise on your skin as you feel him gently knead at the softness of your waist. His eyes nervously dart from yours, tracing over a pattern he had found in the grass as he sucks in a deep breath. “I, um, I didn't get to say everything I wanted to you the other day.” You waited patiently for him to continue, seeing how nervous he was about choosing exactly the right words was honestly endearing in your eyes. “Do you think we could sit down and talk?”
“Of course we can, wherever you like.” You smile softly at him. He hesitantly removed his hand from your waist, carefully taking your hand and studying your reaction to make sure he wasn't doing too much too quickly. He led you to his cabin, shutting the door behind him and watching you with delight as you looked around curiously at all the small knick knacks and trinkets he had littered around the small space. His heart races when his eyes meet yours, he would never get tired of seeing the way your whole face lit up when you smiled.
“I want you to know that I really like you.” He blurts out, unable to stop the confession from coming out. “I might not be as experienced as the others, and I might take things slowly, but that's just because I don't want to mess this up.” His bright blue eyes scan over your features as he waits for you to respond.
“IV, I'm not worried about moving too slow or too fast, or whether or not you're experienced. I think you're very sweet, handsome, fun,” every compliment was punctuated with you taking another step closer to him. “I like you too, I want to see where things go, and I'm very excited to see how we get there.” He breathes out a relieved chuckle.
“I just don't want you to think that I'm not as interested as the others.” His arms slide around your waist, your instinctually slipping over his shoulders as he pulls you into him. His fingers ghost over your cheek, you lean into his touch, allowing him to carefully cradle your face in his hand. “You're so beautiful, every moment I've gotten to spend with you has been nothing short of amazing.” Your cheeks grow warm as he continues his assault of compliments. He seemed relieved to have gotten that off his chest, the usual playful glimmer returning to his expression.
“Well, I look forward to spending more time with you.” His gaze dropped to your lips for a moment before he hesitantly pulled away. He clears his throat, his eyes trailing to the window.
“Did you get to see the garden at all?” He asks, a slight nervous tremor in his voice.
“A little, but I'd love to see it up close. You have a very impressive green thumb IV.” He taps the toe of his boot against the cabin floor.
“It's nothing special.” He rebuttals bashfully. “But, it's definitely a lot better than what we started out with.” He starts to head towards the door, your hand slipping effortlessly into his as you trailed after him. He brought you to the edge of the flowerbeds, wrapping an arm around your shoulder to keep you close to his side as he pointed to all the various different types of produce and flowers he was growing, slipping in small fun facts every so often.
“I don't know how you can say this isn't anything special IV, this is incredible. You've really done an amazing job.” He froze, swallowing thickly as he looked down at you.
“Thank you, love.” He says softly. A soft smile finds its way to your lips as you watch his eyes slowly trace over your features. “Can I take you on a date sometime?” You can't help but giggle at the question.
“I would love that.” You feel him squeeze your waist, the corners of his eyes crinkling as he returns your smile. You both jumped slightly as someone shouted from across the field. II had III in tow, the taller man dropping off his pack of hunting supplies before quickly making his way over to you. IV leans down, placing a kiss to the top of your head before stepping away. You smiled as III approached, your heart immediately pounding in your chest at the sight of the streaks of sweat that had broken down his black body paint. You were unable to stop your gaze from raking across his exposed torso. Your cheeks grew warm as your eyes snapped back up to meet his, immediately noticing the playful glimmer in his expression. You nearly stumbled backwards as III’s long strides quickly landed him right in front of you, a strong hand landing on your waist to steady you as he caught your chin between his fingers with the other. Your eyes dart to anywhere but his, trying your best to hide your flustered state.
“Don’t get all shy on me now.” He chuckles. “How are you beautiful?” You manage to squeak out a ‘good’ in response. III leans down, the fabric of his mask soft against your skin as he presses a kiss to your forehead. “Have you shown her around at all?” He asked IV, his hand still lingering on your waist as he pulled away.
“Just a bit of the garden.” IV responds.
“Think we should give her the grand tour?” II suggests.
“I don’t see why not.” IV immediately perks up at the idea. You reach out, taking hold of IV’s hand, giving him a coy smile as you cuddle up to his side.
“Well, lead the way boys.” II and III share an amused look over IV’s surprised expression. It takes him a moment before he finally relaxes, giving your hand a gentle squeeze before he brings your knuckles to his lips.
It had been less than a year since they had arrived in town and the progress they had already made at their camp was nothing short of incredible. IV had grown a whole storehouse of crops, all of which were expertly preserved in order to maintain the four of them easily throughout the winter and early spring. You learned that he was hoping to learn how to make preserves out of the vast amounts of berries in the area. III showed you some of his easier to navigate hunting trails, explaining that he only hunts as needed and how important to him it is to use the entire animal whenever possible. The four of you wandered down trails, each of them pointing out spots where they would like to go to read or play music. “We should plan a day to hike out to the lake.” IV suggests.
“Maybe next summer, it’s a little too cold for that now.” II responds. “I definitely think we should at some point though, I really think you’d like it there.” You smile as III places a kiss to the top of your head, his presence at your side immediately being replaced by II who wrapped his arm around your shoulders as you continued walking. You had noticed how the three of them almost seemed to be taking turns being next to you, the thought alone was enough to make butterflies erupt in your stomach.
“I was wondering where you all went.” Your heart immediately began to race at the sound of Vessel’s voice. You turn to find him leaning in the doorway of his cabin, “love, would it be alright if I stole you for a second?” He nods for you to follow him inside his cabin. You swallow thickly, feeling nervous despite the fact you knew you had to reason to worry. You’re snapped from your thoughts by II pressing a kiss to your cheek.
“I’ll go start dinner while you’re in there.” He gives you a gentle nudge in Vessel’s direction, prompting you forward. He towered over you from his position leaning in the doorway, offering you his hand once you were in reach and guiding you inside. The inside of his cabin was simple; a small wooden desk with a chair sat in front of the window, a perfectly made bed with black sheets sat against the opposite wall, the large piece of furniture the focal point of the room. Across the room from where you stood you noticed a bookshelf tucked into the corner, the shelves filled with journals, textbooks, and various decks of cards. You could feel Vessel studying you, he watched your body language carefully, trying to gauge exactly how you were feeling in this very moment.
You jumped as he suddenly shut the door, a soft chuckle escaping him at the sight. “There’s no need to be so tense, love.” He steps up to your side, trailing a finger along the edge of your jaw as he leans down close to your ear. “I’m not that scary, am I?” He purrs, sending a shiver down your spine.
“I’m just a little on edge today, I guess.” You laugh softly.
“And why’s that?” He keeps you close to him as he moves. Settling himself on the edge of his bed, his hands coming comfortably to rest on the curve of your waist as he holds you in front of him. You feel his fingers gently push into you, moving you closer to him without much effort. The front of your thighs presses against the edge of his plush mattress, Vessel’s long legs caging you in on either side. You still had to look up slightly to be face to face with him, knowing you had met his eyes behind the slits of his mask as your heart began to pound in your chest.
“I have a feeling you already know the answer to that.” Your voice trembled as you spoke.
“Smart girl,” he praises, “I see you’re putting the pieces together quickly.” He ponders over what to say for a moment, carefully selecting each word in his mind. “He spoke to you last night, didn’t he?”
“Vessel, what was that?” You answered his question with your own.
“That was Sleep.” He states simply. A bewildered expression formed on your face, Vessel continued speaking before you had a chance to ask any questions. “I for the life of me can’t figure out how to even begin telling you about Sleep.” He admits with a bashful chuckle. “I hate to keep you in the dark, but can I please ask you to wait just a little while longer?” The booming voice echoed in the back of your mind. ‘Trust in Vessel, he’ll show you the way.’
“I trust you.” Your voice comes out barely above a whisper.
“When the time is right I’ll tell you everything, you have my word.” He promises, his hand gently cupping your cheek, his thumb trailing slowly across your skin. The cool material of his mask comes to rest against your forehead. He just held you for a moment, both of you relaxing into the comfortable silence that surrounded you. “I shouldn’t keep you too long, the others will throw a fit.” He says quietly, both of you dissolving into soft laughter.
“Vessel,” he hums in response to you saying his name.
“What is it, love?”
“I really enjoyed our time together the other night.” He froze, seeming almost dumbfounded by the words that had left your mouth.
“You did?” His response comes out timidly, as if he was dancing around those two simple words, worried it was the wrong thing to say. “Maybe… Maybe we could do something like that again sometime then.”
“I’d like that.” You smile softly at him.
Your fingers remained linked with his as he led you across the clearing, the other three members of the group working quickly to make sure everything was set up by the time you reached the table. You were handed a plate of something you didn’t recognize, but it tasted good. Your night became a blur of stolen kisses on your cheeks and laughter that easily bubbled up from your chest. “I believe II had something planned for the two of you tonight.” Vessel suddenly chimes in. “I think we should probably give them some privacy, boys.” He suggests with a patient smile. They each say their respective goodbye’s; IV pressing a chaste kiss to your cheek, telling you he’ll see you soon before darting off to his cabin, III pulls you flush against him, lifting his mask just enough to capture your lips with his own. He mumbles a quiet ‘goodnight’ against your lips, his hand lingering on the curve of your waist as he pulls away. You turned to face Vessel, he held out his hand for you to take. “I’ll walk you.” It didn’t take you long to see that II had snuck off to set up a fire, a log pulled the perfect distance away from the flames to sit on. “It looks like you’re in for a nice evening.” You could feel his eyes studying you from behind his mask. “It’s a shame we have to part ways.”
“We still have a couple minutes.” Your eyes dart down to his lips momentarily.
“It almost sounds like you don’t want me to leave.” He responds with a lopsided grin.
“I don’t.” Vessel presses a knuckle below your chin, tilting your face up to allow him the chance to study your features closely.
“Trust me love, if I had it my way I already would have stolen you for myself.” He chuckles, his thumb swiping over your bottom lip. “We’ll have our time… I’ll make sure of it.” He whispers. He cradles your face gently in his hand, his eyes wandering over your features in silence for another moment before he speaks again. “II, make sure she gets home safely.” You hadn’t noticed until Vessel had startled him that II had wandered back in your direction. “Have a good night, beautiful.” A pair of warm lips press against your forehead, and just like before, as quickly as he was there he was gone. A sense of longing ached deep in your chest, one that was quickly pushed down as II’s hands came to rest on your waist. He gently turns you to face him, hand cupping your cheek as his lips ghost over yours. Your eyes flutter shut, your racing thoughts coming to a screeching halt as you let the kiss consume you.
“I’ve been waiting all day to do that.” II mumbles against your lips with a soft chuckle. Heavy, warm fabric is draped across your shoulders, your fingers instinctually reach up to rub along the edge of the thick denim jacket. “I wanted to make sure you were warm enough. It’s a nice night, but it still gets pretty cold out here.” You found yourself cuddled into his side, the campfire keeping you comfortable despite the chill in the air. II excitedly pointed out every constellation he recognized, filling your mind with tales of adventure, the bravest heroes, the most passionate of love stories. “Right there, that’s Andromeda. She’s famous for nearly being eaten by a sea monster because her mother tried to say she was more beautiful than the sea nymphs.” You can’t help but laugh slightly at the absurd story.
“Well, what do you think?” II gives you a curious glance. “Was she prettier than the sea nymphs?”
“She definitely wasn’t as pretty as you.” You stuttered out a shocked sound in response, your cheeks immediately growing warm. “You’re really bad at accepting compliments.” He points out bluntly, a hint of a smile in his tone.
“I’m just not really used to getting them I guess.” You admit with a bashful chuckle.
“You’re unfortunately going to have to get used to that then.” He glances down at you, his bright blue eyes meeting yours and freezing you in place. “You’re beautiful, I’m not about to let you forget that.”

Vigilance
(Vessel x Gender-Neutral Reader)
Synopsis: Vessel contemplates what you mean to him while you're laying together.
Warnings: Maybe a little self-deprecation on Vessel's part, but besides that...?
Word Count: 599
A/N: This one really came out of nowhere. The first half is part of this dream I had, then I filled in the ending. Short, kinda fluffy, but in a serious way. If you've read "Sun Daze," "Morning Blue," or "Found You," it's that vibe.
Tumblr media
You felt his presence before you were truly conscious. Sitting on the edge of your bed, he watched you. You’d gotten used to it by now. It was reassuring. His constant vigilance—a protective bubble that embraced you.
His nimble fingers grazed your side, trailing to the small of your back. “Rest, my love.”
Humming, your eyes remained closed, enjoying his feather-light touches. You had shoved the blankets off you in your sleep and were rewarded when his skin caressed yours.
The bed shifted, then his lips brushed the side of your head.
“Lay with me?” Though it escaped as a statement, you meant it as a question. One you knew he’d never refuse.
He slipped behind you, one arm sliding beneath your head, and the other around your middle. You threaded your fingers through both of his hands, needing to be as close to him as possible. With his exposed chest pressed against your back, you relaxed into him, head resting in the crook of his shoulder.
This was your safe place. Nestled in his hold where no one else existed.
You took in every part that connected to him and wished you could stay like this forever.
“Ease now, beloved. I am with you.” He pressed his mouth to your shoulder, lingering to feel more of your skin.
He would stay like this until you woke next. Until you had to move. Until you indicate otherwise. He would remain.
He could not follow you into blissful unconscious, but this almost seemed better. The trust you put in him, the way you let him embrace you, how openly you received every part of him—he witnessed it all in these moments. As you drifted, your walls receded. He saw you for who you were and vowed himself to you. Even if you didn’t know the extent of his allegiance to you, it didn’t matter. You belonged to one another. He would ensure your happiness, your safety, your peace—because they were his own.
The scent of your hair enveloped him. You were home to him. He could not determine the last time he had a home, but the word was fitting. In all his travels, in all his life, he had glimpses of reprieve, but with you he had gained more than that. You had given him more than he ever had in the centuries before you. And for that he owed you his existence.
Every time he looked at you, spoke to you, touched you, was like the first. You did not want anything from him—like so many others—you simply wanted him. So, he gave you all, every piece of darkness within himself, every memory from before, every task he was given, because he wanted to make sure. Was this what you wanted? Was he what you wanted?
In response, you showed him all of you. Your regrets and failures, your hopes and dreams, your fears—and they were beautiful. You were...everything.
For that, he had pledged to be yours. He had proclaimed his love, and you returned it.
So, he would remain by your side, in every sense of the word. In ways he could not explain.
He matched his breathing to yours, steady and deep. Once your fingers had slackened, he curled his a little more to keep you connected. And his eyes closed, letting your skin warm his and your scent fill him.
This was as close as he could follow you, but it was enough. You were with him. This was all he needed. His greatest treasure. His love. His meaning.

❝play me a melody❞
➵ “all for you, my sweetness” — ❤︎
pairing: iv (ivy) x gn!reader
theme: fluff ✿
a/n: wanted to practice writing for sleep token members. so take this little thing. i promise a real fic will come out soon.
cw: none
┅✦┅
“do you mind giving me space?”
you refused to budge, even after he had told you many times to buzz off. currently peeping over his shoulder like a curious cat, you watched as ivy plucked the strings on his guitar mindlessly, playing a simple tune.
“but i like hearing you play.” you answered simply, seeming unfazed by ivy’s obvious annoyance.
the guitarist turned his head to glare at you through his mask, but you just looked even more interested.
“you’re so annoying.”
“and yet you don’t do anything to make me go away.”
ivy just rolled his eyes and adjusted his shoulder to allow you to lean onto him more. he was a more reserved man, not really going out of his way to make friends.
yet here you were, somehow weaseling yourself into his heart.
ivy definitely had a soft spot for you.
“i’m not even playing a specific song, just playing a random tune,” ivy sighed out, turning his eyes to meet yours. your arms were draped over his body, and you rested your chin on his shoulder, making it easier for the mysterious guitarist to look at you.
“i don’t get why you’re so interested.” he muttered out, directing his attention back to his guitar. meanwhile, you just stood there, still as curious as ever.
“well, can you play me a melody then?” you asked in that same curious tone of voice. ah, there it is, that voice ivy couldn’t resist saying no too.
it was a weakness of his.
“of course, my sweetness.” he replied back in a softer tone, only using that endearing nickname around you and you alone. ivy would die on the spot if any of his band members heard him call you that.
adjusting the pick in his fingers, ivy started to play a tune to the song ‘the offering’, humming along the lyrics as he played. you just sat next to him, listening intently and leaning your head on his shoulder.
keeping an arm wrapped around his waist, the two of you shared a close intimacy while he played the lovely melody. ivy’s guitar playing was soothing, despite the theme of the song being somewhat melancholic.
you could listen to him play for hours.
once the song ended, ivy opened his eyes again after having shut them to concentrate on the melody. he turned to face you, his piercing, interested gaze completely fixed onto you.
“how’s that for a melody?” he asked with a slightly more enthusiastic tone. you couldn’t tell, but you could sense he was smiling underneath his mask.
putting your hand against his cheek, you replied in return, voice as soft as ever.
“perfect as always, honey,”

Have some lovey dovey writing for once. No tw at all, just iv and iii being in love.
IV will always remember that night. It wasn't a special night at all. It was quite mundane for him. He just liked this night a lot.
The four of them were sat, or more laid entangled together on the couches, II and Vessel on one and IV and III on the other. IV was laid on his back and III was on top of him, on his back too. While they were watching a movie, IV gave sublte touches and nuzzles to III's hair. When it ended, a bit after midnight, II and Vessel went straight to bed. III was asleep. When Vessel noticed that, he smiled at IV.
"You want me to carry him upstairs ?" Vessel offered.
"Nah, I'll be fine. Shut the lights... Goodnight, angels." IV responded.
II and Vessel gave a goodnight kiss to the two others then went to bed. There was no light except from the streetlight dimmed by the curtains. IV shifted so III's head was resting on his shoulder. The guitarist couldn't help but smile fondly. How peaceful this little devil looked when he was asleep... IV caressed his soft cheek with the side of his index finger, like one would to feel a baby's soft skin. III eventually stirred awake. He looked a bit disoriented, but found a safe place in IV's neck. His long arms wrapped around his body.
"What time is it ?" III whispered.
"It's 18 past midnight, babyboy." IV answered, his voice hoarse just like III liked it. "Do you want to go to bed ?"
"Mmgnh... No... I don't want to move..." III groaned.
IV tilted his chin up and his heart melted as his eyes met III's sleepy gaze.
"You're so gorgeous when you're sleepy." IV murmured in immense adoration.
"I could kill you in your sleep." III grumbled.
"Perfect."
IV leaned closer and pressed his lips to III's. The bassist's reaction was immediate. He buried his slender fingers in IV's hair beneath his hood, gently pressing him against him. They both poured all their love in this soft late night kiss. IV was not ready to let go yet. His hands cupped the blond's soft cheeks and held him close while his fingertips were into his hair. They gently nibbled and sucked on each other's bottom lip, as if to bring the other closer than humanly possible. IV pulled out to let them catch their breath, assuming that III wanted to sleep so badly that he couldn't keep going, but III pulled him back in and kissed again just as passionately, if not even more. III pressed his forehead to IV's.
"I love you so much." III whispered.
"I love you too."
IV peppered III's face with kisses which made him chuckle, and III laid his head back down on IV's chest. They were both giddy yet sleepy. III nuzzled IV's neck while he was soothingly playing with his hair. They both fell asleep in each other's arms, tangled endlessly like lovers entwined, sharing their body warmth. No one could make them feel more at home than each other.

Since iii and Vessel are such dancey boys on stage, either of them x reader having a cute dance together? Fluffy or smutty! Either way, I just love the thought of it 🥹
CW: Very BRIEF description of maskless Vessel.
The crickets chirped loudly as the two of you walked through the quietness of the night.  You and Vessel had been on a date and were just getting back in in the early hours of the morning.  It was a warm summers night and out in the distance, there was a faint thunder while the sky buzzed with electricity.  It was rare you got him all to yourself for more than an hour at a time – he was a busy man, but he made sure to take the time out of his schedule to spend time with you.
Dinner at your favorite restaurant – the quaint little deli downtown, and a walk back home along the pond.  He was wearing khaki’s and a black button up shirt and you realized how strange it was to see him dressed in anything outside of his stage gear you had grown so accustomed to seeing him in over the past few months, but he was as handsome as ever with his hair tied back at the nape of his neck in a small bun.  You were walking along beside of him, arms tangled together as the quiet thunder carried on above your heads.
“You’re quiet,” he spoke, his deep voice drawing you out of your thoughts, “What’s on your mind, darling?”
“Just taking it all in for a moment,” you shrugged, “It’s rare I get a quiet moment with my man lately.”
“Has been kinda crazy here lately, hm?” He gave you a lopsided grin.
“Yep,” you smiled softly, “Wouldn’t trade it for the world, though…seeing you so happy and at your peak creative-wise.”
He pressed a kiss to the top of your head and sighed softly, pulling you tighter into him.  A few more blocks and you were walking into your front yard of the house you shared.  You had spent endless amount of hours out here, weeding and planting flowers, making it your happy place.  Vessel always made sure to compliment you on the progress of the gardens, but tonight, as you were unlocking the front door he called your name just as you were about to step inside of the house.
“Yeah?”
“Come dance with me,” he said, holding a hand out to you.
“Dance with you?” You grinned, “It’s dark-“
“C’mon,” he said, curling his pointer finger at you, “You know you want to.”
You bit back your smile as you walked back down the steps, dropping your bags and slipping your shoes off.  The plush grass had a bit of dew forming, chilling your toes instantly as you walked through it and over to him.  He laced your fingers tighter as he wrapped his arms around your waist and pulled you into him before he slowly started swaying.
“There’s no music,” you laughed, looking up at him.
“We don’t need it,” he shrugged, the warmth of his hand radiating through the thin fabric of your clothes on your lower back as he rested his forehead against yours, bringing your hand up to his mouth before he kissed your knuckles, “Do we?”
“No,” you smiled up at him.
“We can make our own,” he quirked a eyebrow at you, causing you to laugh and shake your head, “You are my favorite instrument to play…you make the prettiest sounds for me.”
You felt the heat rise to your cheeks as the meanings of his words sunk deep into your core.  He always did have  way of making you blush, even now after spending a few years together.  You stood up on your tiptoes, your fingers locking together behind his head as you placed a kiss to his lips – a kiss that was meant to be sweet and chaste, but he had other plans apparently.  His hands roamed under the back of your shirt, calloused fingers scratching the ticklish skin of your sides as he hummed into your kiss.
“Let’s go upstairs,” you whispered, gently tugging on his hair, earning a sly grin from him as he stood back up to his full height, towering over you.  He cradled your head to his chest, his arms pulling you in as he hugged you to him.
“In a bit, yeah?”  He whispered, pressing a kiss to the top of your head, “I just wanna dance with my girl for a bit longer.”

happen: sleep token (vessel).
a/n: we pretend we don’t see my unfinished fics, okay? also we pretend we don’t see my spelling and grammar and plot mistakes in this, okay? okay. enjoy :)
Tumblr media
"your paint is smeared."
vessel looked up from his piano, first meeting my eyes, then following where my finger pointed to.
"shit," his accent stuck out like a sore thumb, elongating the i in the cuss word.
vessel wiped a finger across the paint in an attempt to blend it in. it didn't do much.
"i think you might be making it worse," i commented with a smug smile.
vessel met my sneering gaze. he was unphased by the sarcasm on my tongue. he reached a blackened hand forward as he tried to rip the clipboard from my hands. i ducked out of his reach. the piano blocked him from me, but his arms were long enough that he managed to swipe a hand across my stack of papers.
i scoffed, stepping back a few feet, examining the black paint overtop my paperwork. "vess!"
"y/n!" he mocked my tone. he rounded the piano, coming to look down at the paper in my hands. "your paint is smeared, lovey."
i looked at up with an annoyed stare, "fuck off."
vess patted my bare shoulder, sending electrically shocked goosebumps down my clammy skin. i shifted my arms, hoping he wouldn't notice how i shivered under his touch.
"i'll go get some more paint, kay?" i offered with a deep breath.
vessel settled in front of his piano again. he nodded, pressing a few keys, "there's a tube in my dressing room."
"be right back."
i turned on my heel and headed for the stairs. i passed ii, who patted my head, and iv, who made some chirp about me owing him a shot- which just wasn't true.
i reached the dressing room soon enough. i'd been in here- in the other ones- numerous times. we often all hung out as a group between shows, in here or out on the town with various disguises on the boys. i still didn’t know who the guys were outside of those masks and strange nicknames. sam did, of course, because he’d been teching for the boys for years now. plus, they all had a brotherly relationship. they trust him.
for some reason, going in here by myself felt provocative. i kept my vision tunnelled, just in case they left something important out. they were men, after all-messy, sometimes careless, forgetful.
outside clothes, hoodies and sweatpants i recognized, sat strewn across the chairs and couches. their personal cellphones were sat with their things, different from the work phones they had been assigned. i had their work numbers, for professional conversations, for getting bullied by ii and iv in the groupchat. vessel and i talked, sometimes, about new coffee shops in new towns we'd be stopping by, movies we'd need to go see when we had a day off.
personal phone numbers were for the trusted.
i b-lined for vessel's paint and brushes, on the counter beside his phone. as i did, my eyes glossed over a wallet. it wasn’t one that i recognized. but, i knew that it was vessel's. or, whoever he really was. my fingers itched with a curiosity that i could not feed. it was none of my business who they were. if they wanted me to know, they'd tell me. they'd unmask themselves when we're chilling out on the tour bus.
if vessel trusted me, if he felt our silly conversations held any depth like i thought they did, he'd tell me who he was.
no matter that i'd known him for six months and hehad yet to do so. no matter that i thought we might have reached that point. no matter that sometimes, when he looked at me, there was a longing sat right behind his eyes, a wanting that made me feel entrusted, that made me feel like he understood what was bleeding off my skin.
no matter.
i grabbed the paint and headed back for the stage. vessel was sitting on the side of it now, talking to ii about something or the other. i handed the paint off to him. i went to go backstage, heel prepared to turn, when he spoke, "thanks, lovey."
ii followed vessel's gaze up to me. i stood overtop of them. ii's eyes raked up my bare legs, over the little black dress i wore. he met my eyes and nodded. "hey, gorgeous."
ii always enjoyed flirting with me. playfully, of course. vessel rolled his eyes at the usual quip. "here we go..."
"i am going to do my job. see ya later!"
ii reached up and grabbed my hand before i could leave. i jerked back to my spot, brows raised. ii shook my arm around, "go on, darling, give us a strut."
"you're ridiculous," i ripped my hand from his, though i chuckled slightly.
"tell her, vess," ii nudged his bandmate's shoulder with his elbow, "tell her how beautiful she is. she just doesn't believe me!"
i met vessel's eyes. he never joined the boys in their teasing, never flirted like ii did. he was always genuine, kind. our conversations were always full of depth, too. in fact, he never showed much interest in me besides those longing, full glances that i took to heart, that i let create a delusional fantasy land in my head. everytime i thought he might be, when we'd have these great conversations, he'd pull back. like was afraid, or he didn't fully trust me.
so, i shuddered when vessel's eyes drug down my body, over my exposed chest, the barely visible tops of my boobs, the curve of my waist, hugged tight by the dress, and the skin of my thighs and calves, right to the tips of my platform boots.
it was then that i realized today was going to be a very different day.
"you look..." vessel rolled his eyes back up my body, to my own flustered gaze, "good."
i couldn't get away fast enough. i thanked them both, stuttering slightly, before turning on my heel and racing towards backstage. i bumped into iv's shoulder and muttered a half-hearted apology.
i knew that they all were staring at me, analyzing my girlish behavior. i knew they'd talk about it.
and that was embarrassing as fuck.
when the show ended, i was determined to not be anywhere near any of the boys. i escaped to the bus sam, myself, and the other techies slept on. i changed into comfortable clothing and lay in my bunk, willing the blush on my cheeks to finally leave me alone.
this wasn’t supposed to happen. did i long for him to say something like that? duh!
did i actually want it to happen? no, bitch.
because that changed everything for me.
i just needed to hide out here for the night, will my anxiety and the fawn look in my eyes away. tomorrow, i could shift everything back to how it was. tomorrow, he’d probably act the same- passive, uninterested.
even if there was any weight to that entire interaction, it’s not like anything could even happen between us.
management made the band swear off girls for risk of privacy and in order to focus on their work. besides, i worked for the band. i helped run every single show they did. they were my boss’.
and there was that whole issue of him not trusting me. because it was so obvious that he didn’t.
i was letting my brain run around too much.
what snapped me back to reality was the commotion of everyone returning to the bus, excited chatter from the other men on the crew filling the once silent vehicle. sam's voice got closer as he and another techie approached their bunks, across and above from my own. i figured they’d just be grabbing something before everyone headed out to the bar.
but, of course- that wasn’t my luck.
"yoohoo," sam knocked a fist on wall, near my head, "is there a y/n in here?"
i huffed, "what do you want?" i knew they were here to berate me to come out with them. but that would mean seeing the boys- having to confront the issue that was vessel.
"get up, grandma," sam teased me for being in bed so soon, "we're going to the bar."
"i'm tired," i replied, a slight groan in my voice. please just go away.
"that's a load of bull," sam scoffed, "you literally said this morning that you wanted to go out tonight."
i went to reply, but more voices filled the bus, all too familiar ones that made my chest tight.
"what's going on? is y/n okay?" that thick british accent burst through whatever i was gonna say next. iv.
then, another spoke- ii, i was pretty certain. "what? what's happening? aren't you coming out, y/n?”
i shoved my head into my pillow, wanting to scream. the only downside of tour was this obvious lack of privacy. i appreciated that my presence was always wanted by just about anyone i worked with. but, god, can’t a girl daydream and regret her actions in peace?
i pulled open the curtains sheltering my bed, just a fraction, not even trying to mask my annoyed expression. ii, iv, and sam were squatted just outside my bunk. sam wore a cheeky grin, but the others had their outside masks on. i could read their energy well, though.
"i'm fine, guys," i waved them all off, cuddled up under my blankets, "i just wanna chill tonight."
"no! you can't! please! you have to go out with us! you promised last time you would! plus you owe me a shot!" iv whined, head tilted to the left. he really needed to find a new gimmick.
i rolled my eyes, "you're a baby."
"wow, y/n," ii set a comforting hand on iv's shoulder, gasping at my insult, "that's harsh. here i thought we were friends."
sam laughed in response, "yeah, y/n. that was really mean. you hurt iv's feelings." he, also, touched iv’s arm.
i met iv's eyes with pursed lips. his eyes read no signs of offense. we were all always so mean to each other and i knew they’d call me out if i ever took it too far. no, this- this was them bullying me back. trying to get me to come out. they’d probably, eventually, get on me about my flustered escape from earlier. ii nudged iv, and he began to fake cry, head dropped down into his hands.
i rolled my eyes again with an exasperated huff, "oh, my god. here we go."
the bus door swung open, then shut again, as the rest of the band made their way in. i didn't notice, too caught up in the boys' theatrics to get nervous that vessel was in my vicinity. he stood just out of sight, watching all of us.
iv sobbed, shoulders rocking. "i can't believe you'd say that, y/n!"
"whatever. im not coming out, freaks,” i went to shut the curtain, but sam pushed it open all the way.
i dropped my head to my pillow in annoyance. ii spoke now, egging on the situation further. i grew nervous he’d bring up earlier, "there's just one thing you can do to make this up to him."
"let me guess, it tastes like vodka and rhymes with hot?" i murmured as i pressed a stressed hand over my eyes.
ii pried my hands from my head. “actually- tastes like hennessy and rhymes with get the fuck out of bed!" he, then, reached into my bunk and tickled my sides.
i laughed this ugly, wheezing laugh, squirming away from ii's reach. iv's showcase of crying twisted into him falling back onto his ass, laughing with his head thrown back. sam held onto the bunk as he joined. i then heard vessel and iii's laughs, echoing from a bit down the hall. i tried to snap myself out of the situation, insecure by vessel's presence. but, ii just wouldn't stop tickling me.
luckily, he did, leaving my face red, tears spilling out of my eyes, and a newfound energy to get up from my bunk. i didn’t forget that vessel was standing there, watching. and, i knew, i’d have to face the reality of my embarrassment eventually. but, the boys drunk were usually pretty sweet.
"alright," i huffed and shoved the covers off of my body, "let's go, you freaks."
"you'll come?" ii offered me his hand, helping me off of the floor.
"yeah, i'll come," i released his hand, steadied on my feet. i shoved his shoulder as i walked towards the closet at the end of the hall. i pushed past sam and iv to get there. as i searched through my bag, trying to find my dress from earlier, i felt eyes still on me. all the boys had begun moving from the bus, going outside to smoke and wait on me. but, vessel was still there. lingering.
he waved at me as i looked down the hall towards him. my face flushed again and i gave an awkward smile. god, i was not helping the situation. if anything, i was making it worse, making him uncomfortable, ruining everything. he’d never trust me now.
i put back on my little black dress, tights to bear the cold, platform boots. my makeup was still in tact, though i had to clean up a few smudges made by my sweat from the show. i finally met everyone outside the bus, drawing eyes to my body as i bounded down the steps.
"still looking sexy, darling," ii flirted, cheekily, taking my hand and forcing me to do a little spin in front of everyone.
as i faced back to everyone, i pulled my hand from his and shoved him away from me again. "creep- let's go. you owe me a shot."
"um, i think it's the other way around," ii scoffed.
i began walking from the group, towards the bar down the street. i tossed a confused look over my shoulder, "that never happened. you're crazy."
i left behind a trail of laughing men, a stunned ii. they teased me- but i did back just as much.
it was just a five minute walk, and i kept my pace ahead of everyone because i was cold and wanted to get there quicker. i knew someone was watching me- again. i knew the feel of that stare. i knew it was vesel. so, i tried to stay just far enough ahead that he couldn't catch up. i don’t think i could keep up any meaningful conversation when my heart was still beating this quickly.
alas, the over 6' man fell in stride beside me, easily, hands shoved in the pockets of an alpha wolf sweatshirt. he adjusted his sunglasses, inhaling a chilly breath before saying, “why’d you run off earlier? before the show? did i- say something wrong?”
"no reason," i snapped a too-quick response, arms crossed over my chest. my cheeks were reddening again.
he tsked his tongue, “good. shame, though, i didn't get to enjoy this dress for as long as i would have liked to.” i couldn’t see his eyes- but i knew they flicked down over my body. i straightened up under the gaze.
what game was he playing?
maybe he just wanted to hook up. i knew it wasn’t anything serious for him, because it couldn’t be.
i could imagine he and the boys were horny. all the time they’d spent declaring celibacy on this tour must be getting to them. so, i convinced myself that’s what this was. but, i of course didn’t want that.
so, i couldn’t help but feel let down that i had gotten my hopes up. i had thought that maybe, just maybe, he wanted me like i wanted him. that, again, maybe, he trusted me like i wanted him to. like i trusted him.
i looked up at him, head tilted back from his height. i tried to read the air between us, hoping something else was there. but i knew he wore a cheeky grin beneath his mask. i frowned, slightly, a desperate disappointment laying just behind my eyes. my head shook just slightly, "don't."
vessel's shoulders fell. he nodded, just once, before silencing himself.
we walked to the bar in drowning silence. i wanted to stop, to turn to him and ask him a million questions. why didn’t he trust me? why didn’t he want me? why couldn’t we try?
why couldn’t we have met in another lifetime, where he didn’t feel the need to hide behind a mask? where he didn’t have to put his life on the line just to reveal himself to me?
not that would fix anything if he didn’t feel what i felt.
i needed a drink.
when we got to the bar, we got swept up in the excitement from our group, separated from each other. i was grateful for the space. it allowed me to breathe, allowed me to start getting wasted.
ii and iv shoved drink after drink into my hands. we pounded shots off of the wooden counter of the bar. we paid far too much for the shitty jukebox in the corner to play our favorite songs. ii even eventually drug me out to the make-shift dance floor, holding my free hand in his, guiding my hips with his other palm.
i clutched onto my vodka cran, following the rhythm ii was swinging in his hips. we danced to some usher song, sultry and silly. normally, i’d shove him away and cuss him out, make fun of him. but, the alcohol was starting to burn my throat, sending a soothingly loose feeling through my blood. i was relaxed.
the song slowed and we did with it. i rested my heavy body against his, chin on his shoulder. we danced in a circle. i could see vessel, sitting at the bar, burning a hole through ii's head with his eyes. he saw me looking at him and quickly looked away.
i just wanted to walk right up to him and kiss him, mask or no mask. i just wanted him. i didn’t care what he looked like. who he was. because i knew him- i knew him well. i knew when his favorite cat died, i knew that he dropped his sandwich in the first grade and cried on drive home. i knew he preferred tea over coffee, with two sugar cubes, and an exact glug of milk in it.
my mind was racing like crazy. i needed to ground myself or i’d do something i’d regret.
that’s when ii mumbled into my ear, “he wants you so badly.”
i jolted out of my own head space, pulling my chin back from ii’s shoulder to look up at him. “what?”
i was having trouble processing words.
“vess. he’s been pining after you for so long,” ii had a sense of urgency in his eyes. "and he think he's trying to see if he can shoot my head off with his eyes right now."
i peered over his shoulder. vessel was watching us again. he didn’t look away, though i knew he could see.
“fat chance,” i blurted out. “he keeps pushing me away…pining my ass. everytime we have, like, a really good conversations about, like, the stars or some shit, the next day he acts like he barely knows my name.”
ii was patient, just listening as i rambled, surely drunk now. i continued on, “i don’t know, dude. like, if he wanted me he would do something about it, yeah? he’d show me. he’d say something. he’d- he’d just do something. instead he just makes me feel crazy.”
i finished myself off with huff. i downed the rest of my drink and set it on a table close to us. both my fists leaned against ii’s shoulders. i was getting dizzy.
ii squeezed my hip in comfort. he waited a moment, for me to catch my breath, to respond. "it's difficult. being in our position. it's hard to tell who's getting close just to catch a peak. forcing everyone we care about to sign mountains of paperwork just to really know us. to trust that we can stay hidden, though the entire world is just itching to unmask us. i know you know that. i know you understand it. that’s part of the reason why we all get along with you so well. the pressures gone. we can be ourselves- no matter what our names are, what we look like. cause you just don’t care.
“i don’t!” i agreed, punching my fist lazily against ii’s shoulder. “i don’t care who you guys are! because you’re still the same to me. and i trust you. and i love you guys. and i just- but just, why can’t he want me?”
he chuckled, “oh, darling. he does. you know he does. and you know the risk, you know the worry. you push it away because it’s not going to be easy. put your pretty little head to rest. just…let it happen as it happens.”
“i think i’m too drunk to really understand this right now, babe,” i droned on, eyes squinted as if i could understand him better with a blurred gaze.
ii tapped my nose sweetly. he stepped back, glancing over to vessel. “just let it.”
i met vessel’s gaze- invisible to me, but so obvious from the burn on my skin. he stood from his seat, hesitant, yet somehow determined.
i felt my body pulled towards him. we met in the middle. some stupid country song was playing. the bad was emptying. our friends were loud. my breath smelled of alcohol. vessel seemed exhausted.
but, for some reason, this was the night that it would happen.
vessel held out a hand, skin pale yet still stained from the paint. i took it. he waited a moment, as if awaiting my consent. then he guided us to the backdoor of the bar. we were out in an alley, alone.
“i’m sorry, lovey,” he said, once he was settled on his heels in front of me.
i clutched his hand like an anchor. “for what?” my brows furrowed.
he brushed a thumb across my knuckles, “that it’s like this. i…i wish i could love you under different circumstances.”
the word passed by without a second thought, so easily spoken from his lips. i barely noticed it. “it’s okay…it’s-its not your fault, vess.”
“no, it’s just,” he ran his other hand overtop his hat, covering his hair just perfectly. “it’s just that i need you to know that. how i feel about you..” now he danced around the word, “because i need you to know that…but…i can’t go forward with any of it. i can’t follow through with it. and i’m so sorry. i just…can’t.”
i slid my hand up to his cheek. he nearly crumbled under my touch. my fingers touched the edge of his sunglasses. he didn’t move. he didn’t try to stop me as i slid the glasses off his nose. i knew those eyes well- i was grateful to see them, even in this dark lighting. i could read him better, i could see his soul.
“i’ll sign whatever you want me to sign.”
the words lingered between us as he processed them. then, he denied them, “lovey…i-“
“i’ll sign a million nda’s. i’ll sign away my life. i’ll- i’ll delete all of my social media. and i’ll wear a mask, too. i’ll step into the darkness with you, vess. i’d do it. i want to do it.”
“lovey, please, i can’t-“
“i can. if you can’t, i can. i can for the both of us.”
vessel dropped his chin, looking away from me. “i can’t ask you to do that for me. beside, you- you don’t even know what i look like. i’m- i’m probably not what you’d want. you can’t love someone you think is ugly. i don’t know, lovey.”
“i do know, vess,” i quickly replied. “i know. i know you. i know your soul. it doesn’t matter to me what you look like, or who you are. cause i know your heart. and that’s all that matters to me. besides, i can’t go on hiding- knowing that we love each other. i just can’t. i won’t allow it.”
vessel met my eyes again. he removed his hand from my own. his hand hung by his thigh, clenching into a fist. it shook. i was worried he’d walk away.
but, after his hesitation softened, he reached his hands up to his face. he tugged the medical mask off of his ears, revealing his familiar lips and smile to me. his nose was new, a feature i’d never seen. but, it was just a nose.
he took off his hat, too, revealing his entire complexion to me. i grinned in response, barely even getting a good luck at him because i really didn’t care.
“that changed nothing for me,” i grasped at his hands. “i feel the same. i feel- the same. maybe better, knowing that you trust me. but- the same. i still want you- i need you, vess…please. i know you need me, too. i’ve always seen it in your eyes. just…take a chance. come out of the darkness…for me. please.”
vessel slid his hands up my arms, slowly, brushing my hair over my shoulders as he passed. his fingertips tickled my neck, the lobes of my ears, until he cupped my cheeks. i leaned into his touch, eyes alight with abounding adoration. he tilted his head down, brilliantly colored eyes boring into my own.
and then he kissed me.

Friends to Lovers/ Vessel x reader
Summary: A close friendship evolves into love after a show.
Words: 633
FLUFF
Tumblr media
You and Vessel have been really good friends for many years.
There's always been a certain level of intimacy and trust between you. Sometimes a cuddle on the shoulder, sometimes a gentle rub of the thumb over the cheek or a kiss on the hair.
His bandmates tease you, claiming Vessel and you are in a relationship and you both just don't know about it yet.
"I'm so tired." You mumble, dropping onto the black leather sofa in the backstage area, exhausted. A sigh of relief escapes you as you watch Vessel out of the corner of your eye as he removes his white mask with the red details in front of a mirror
"What about me?" He asks with a grin and opens the clasp at the back of his head. "You just stood next to the stage and watched. I gave it my all and sang."
"And danced." You add with a grin.
"Yes, and danced." Vessel replies with a soft chuckle and places the mask next to the black charcoal he applied to his body before his performance... or rather, you applied it.
"I could sleep through a whole year after the tour." He says and watches his charcoal-stained face in the mirror for a moment.
You lean your head back against the soft backrest of the sofa and look up at the ceiling with a grin. "You say that every time and then you sleep just like you did on tour, maybe an hour longer." You say playfully.
Vessel laughs softly and sits down right next to you. His shoulder brushes yours as he leans back with a relieved sigh.
You tilt your head to the side and look at him.
It doesn't take him long to notice your gaze and he turns his head towards you. "What's wrong? You look like you've seen an alien."
A grin creeps onto your lips. "I just find it amusing how messed up you look after every show." You say with a shrug and raise your hand to brush your fingers across his cheek.
He rolls his eyes playfully and gently clasps your wrist. "Go ahead and make fun of me." He says, rubbing small circles on your skin.
You look at each other in a moment of silence, his gaze darts from your eyes to your lips.
And finally, the other Sleep Token guys would be standing next to you cheering, Vessel slowly moves his face closer to yours.
You can literally imagine III's cry of joy as your lips meet in a gentle kiss.
Butterflies ignite in every fiber of your body. Your lips melt together as if they were made for each other.
But they part far too quickly.
You open your eyes as Vessel leans back. "That was..." You whisper.
"It was perfect." Vessel says softly in a husky voice. His thumb circles your wrist gently.
"I never thought..." A smile forms on your lips. "...that this would ever happen between us."
"It just felt right to do it." He looks into your eyes and can't help the playful tone in his voice. "And besides, we're already very intimate with each other anyway."
You grin softly and answer playfully. "Basically, it's the same as before."
"Exactly." He leans closer to you. "Except now I'll kiss your lips more often instead of just your forehead."
Vessel looks at you with a mischievous gleam in his eyes. "Is that okay?"
"Mhm." You hum, which is enough of an answer for Vessel as he gently presses his lips back to yours.
If III knew what was happening next to his room... he'd probably jump for joy, just like your heart leaps in your chest as you gently return Vessel's kiss.

you make me wish i could disappear
A/N: Soooo, it’s been a while, hey? Instead of studying for my immunology exam, or even going to bed at a reasonable time, I wrote 1460 words of angst/hurt/comfort instead. Apologies in advance for any poor writing, I’m running on not enough sleep and not enough dopamine, hence this new piece after months of nothing. Spoilers for MW3 kind of. Let me know what you guys think!
It’s the middle of the night; she suddenly bolts upright in bed panting heavily, her hair wild from sleep as she gasps, trying to hold back tears. She clutches at her chest as she tries to catch her breath, disoriented to her surroundings. Simon is currently asleep beside her, but begins to stir when he feels her moving and hears her gasping. He cracks open his eyes, alerted to his love’s distress.
“Sweetheart? Are you alright?” He reaches up slowly as he sits up, trying not to startle her in her disoriented state. “What’s wrong?”
Still half asleep and half panicking, she turns to Simon and immediately starts conducting a trauma sweep, the muscle memory of her training kicking in as she checks him for injuries.
Simon doesn’t fight the inspection, letting her check him with the understanding that it might take a bit for her to snap out of her frantic nightmare-induced state. He gently brushes his fingers across her cheek, hoping that the gentle touch will pull her back to wakefulness and help her feel safe again.
“You’re okay, you’re safe here love. It’s just a nightmare.” He murmurs gently, cupping her face.
Although still frantically checking Simon for injuries as she presses on his collarbone followed by his facial bones, she slowly starts coming back to a more coherent state, her frantic search slowing down as she calms down.
With his other hand he gently reaches to rub up and down her back, looking at her with worried eyes. He takes one of her hands and places it on his chest, letting her feel his heartbeat.
“Slow down babe, you’re okay. You’re fine, I’m fine. You can calm down.” He says softly, sliding his fingers from her face into her hair.
He lets her get herself oriented, softly brushing her hair back as she rests her hand over his heart. “You’re okay, nothing’s wrong, I promise.”
“You’re alive.” She pants softly, the tears in her eyes threatening to spill.
“I’m safe, I promise.” He reassures her, rubbing her back in soothing motions. “It was just a nightmare, I’m right here.” He knows he needs to be gentle with her right now, she can be on edge for a while after a nightmare like this.
She relaxes onto her knees a little bit, leaning into Simon’s shoulder as he pulls her close. He wraps his arms around her, pulling her into his lap, holding her tightly to give her the comfort she needs. He can tell she’s still tense, so he encourages her to lean into him as he soothes her.
They sit there in charged silence, curled into each other as he gives her a few moments to gather her thoughts together.
“Makarov came after the 141 again.” She sobs softly, pressing her face into Simon’s neck.
Simon knows exactly why she’s been having recurring nightmares about Makarov, he’s been having similar ones alongside her. They almost seem to take turns having fitful nights of sleep, interrupted by each other’s nightmares.
He sighs, knowing there’s not much he can do at the moment except comfort her. “It’s okay, it’s over now. It was just a dream.” He turns his head to press a kiss to her forehead, hoping his touch soothes her frayed nerves.
He lets her melt into him, his arms around her tightly enough to keep her pressed to him, his heartbeat thudding in his chest as he recalls the events of a few months ago. They simultaneously feel as if they happened yesterday, just like they feel as if they happened a lifetime ago.
He shifts their bodies across the bed so that he can adjust them from sitting into laying down, encouraging her to rest her weary body on his. He keeps her curled onto him, running his hand up and down her back to try and comfort her.
After several moments of sniffling, she finally bursts into tears, breaking the silence in the room. “I’m scared….”
As soon as she starts crying, he knows she’s one step closer to getting it out of her system for the night. This is a recurring event, and he knows how to comfort her so that they can eventually both fall back asleep. He gently rubs the back of her head, encouraging her to let it out.
“I’m here, everything is okay sweetheart, I’m here. You’re safe here.”
He holds her tight to his chest, knowing that all he can do right now is comfort her. It’s easy for him to do so, he knows her like no one else. He allows her to press herself into him and cry, letting out intense sobs as she processes the nightmare and the events that caused it.
After several minutes of intense crying, it seems she’s gotten through the worst of the breakdown. She continues crying, but a little less intense, eventually shifting to sniffles instead of sobs.
He kisses her forehead again as the tears start slowing down, his comforting touch doing its job of calming her down as she cries it out. “It’s okay love, it’s okay. You’re safe here with me.” He whispers soothingly.
“I miss Johnny.” She sniffles into Simon’s neck. “He’d laugh if he saw us like this.”
“He called it from the beginning, didn’t he?” Simon agrees softly, holding her a little tighter. He knows Johnny’s death had hit her extremely hard, the two of them having become fast friends upon the formation of the Task Force.  “I miss him too. I just know he’d be teasing us about being right.”
“It was cruel of the universe to not let him see he was right.” She sniffles softly.
“I’m sure he knows love, I’m sure he knows.” Simon chuckles softly.
A few more moments pass before Simon nudges her with his shoulder. “Are you feeling a little better?” He asks gently as he swipes his thumbs across her cheekbones.
She nods, sniffling away a few remaining tears. “I was just thinking.”
“About?” He inquires hesitantly.
“The first time you kissed me.” She mumbles.
Simon recalls the incident in question. It had been her birthday, just before midnight to the next day. They had gone out for a quiet dinner to celebrate, neither of them being in a particular mood to do so, but using it as a reason to get off base.
On the walk up to her door, Simon had finally gathered up the courage to kiss her, but she had started crying after he did so.
“I’d be lying if I said I didn’t remember the moment. It was certainly… unique. Had I’d known you’d cry, I might have held off.” He says softly still inwardly cringing at the idea that he’d made her cry. “You never did explain why you cried…”
After the tears started, she had bid a hasty goodnight and shut the door in Simon’s face rather abruptly. Things had been a little awkward afterwards, but upon her insistence, Simon eventually accepted that it wasn’t necessarily his fault she’d shed tears.
“It’s kind of silly now, in retrospect.” She mumbles into Simon’s shoulder. “Before… Makarov… There was one night Johnny and I had gotten a little drunk, and he’d bet me that you’d wait until something like my birthday to kiss me.” She sniffles, trying to clear her nose. “When you kissed me, I remembered that bet and the memory kind of startled me, because it felt like Johnny was shouting ‘I told you so!’ from the afterlife or something. So I guess I owe him a drink the next time I see him.”
Simon chuckles slightly at the explanation, relieved that her tears hadn’t been exactly his fault. “He was right on target with that one. I didn’t think I’d have the guts to do it, but I’m glad I did.”
They lapse into a comfortable silence, the warmth of the bed helping them both feel a little more relaxed after tonight’s ordeal.
She yawns, the adrenaline from the nightmare finally starting to wear off. “Sorry for manhandling you earlier.”
“It’s alright, it was just a nightmare, it can be incredibly disorienting sometimes. I’m just glad you’re feeling a little better.” He smooths his hand across her hair before pulling the blankets back around them.
She takes a deep breath, letting the warmth of Simon’s embrace comfort her. He tucks the blankets around them, settling into the bed as they get sleepy again. He continues rubbing his hand up and down her back a little longer as she drifts off to sleep, feeling at ease that he’s there to comfort her.
He presses one last kiss to her head before drifting off to sleep himself, comforted by the fact that his lover is safe in his arms.

Cycle
Part I: Vessels Vixen
Pairing: (Poly!) Sleep Token x (F!)Reader
Genre/Warnings: This chapter is mainly Vessel x Reader for lore build up!! Fluff, a made up character for plot is womanizing, flirtatious Vessel, decent amount of cursing
Summary: After kicking out a bunch of jerks at your work place, you become the savior of a certain masked man
(A/N): I’ve tried rewriting a story involving Sleep Token at least a dozen times now, and this is my last attempt for the first part and probably the best, so I hope you enjoy! 🥲🩷
Tumblr media
It’s very common to find me working for extremely long hours as well as doing all the chores while blasting my ears off with an old pair of headphones. I do work in a record shop anyways, so what else would I be doing? Once I moved out and on my own I’ve had nothing to do, so I help this elderly couple maintain their shop so they can enjoy their- what should be- retirement.
The town we live in is decently small, but still big enough to include fascists and douche bags of every variety. More specifically, a group of men called the ‘Southwind Snakes’ by the men and just plain ‘perverts’ by the women- me included. Almost every day they end up either trying to wreck the shop, wrecking the shop, or trying to fight with other customers- which those fights usually end up leading to the shops wreckage. Today wasn’t any different.
As the climate got colder, the rain got heavier, and when the weather is shitty, so is the amount of patrons. The elderly couple were packing their bags, ready to go home before asking me“Are you sure you don’t want to just close up early, sweetie? The storm’s looking pretty bad.” Shaking my head, I respond “It’s alright, I’ll hold down the fort. Have a good day you guys.” I wave them off as they head out into the curtains of rain, just as they’re about to pull out I hear one of the worst sounds in the world; the ‘Southwind Snakes’ shit mobile. It’s the ugliest pick up truck I’ve ever seen, and of course it’s sitting front and center in the swamping parking lot. Josh and his goons enter the store and make a beeline straight for my counter. I groan, putting my headphones aside “How can I help you?” He puts one of his greasy hands on the counter “You can help me in more than one ways, doll” he smirks cockily, moving his one hand out to the side so one of his accomplices can five him. “If it doesn’t include helping you find something, or jamming a stick up your ass, then I can’t help you.” I blink blankly at him, his face turning into one of offense “Whatever, prude. Do you have the CD’s we ordered?” I roll my eyes, walking to the back wall, and bending over to grab a box from the lower shelf. All I hear is inappropriate giggles from the childish men, I frustratingly clench my teeth before walking back and handing him the box of CD’s. “Here you go. Need anything else?” He takes the box, “I could always use your number, if you’ll give it to me this time” he winks sloppily “Yeah, no. If you don’t need anything else from the store then have a good day.” He huffs loudly, exiting as his goons follow.
As I was returning to my work, I hear him yelling outside, “Jesus Christ, what now…” I run to the window, to see him berating a person who must’ve run into him. I usually don’t want to get involved in that douche’s antics, but when he starts hurting people verbally or physically I’m usually keen to stepping in. I walk outside in the frigid rain, by the time I get outside, Josh has already turned it from a verbal altercation into a physical one. “Get the hell out of here Josh, leave ‘em alone!” He seethes at me before hopping in his fuck truck. “Hate that fucking guy… are you okay?” I turn to the person, and offer them a hand. Through the thick sheets of rain I see the person look up at me, wearing what appears to be some sort of white facial covering. Looking down I see their hand, painted in some sort of black material snail into mine, obviously shaken by the situation. I help them up, “come on inside, I’ll get you warmed up.” They nod as I lead them into the store, the sudden warmth enveloping our now freezing and soaked skin. I wipe the rain off my face, “I’m sorry you got caught by Josh, he’s so damn rude all the time.” The person takes the cloak like garment off their shoulders, revealing a set of well toned shoulders. “You shouldn’t apologize for something that isn’t your fault, I should actually be thanking you.” He turns to me, I advert my eyes as best as I can, but it’s not helping that there’s now a shirtless man in my store, dripping with the aftermath of the storm. I get a decent look at his intricately beautiful yet grotesque mask, and catch myself before I end up staring for too long “I- uh I think we have some extra towels in the back, stay right here, I’ll be back!” He nods, giving me a comfortable smile, I quickly turn on my heel and head to the back.
Is there really towels in the back? Probably not, but I needed to get out of there before my face explodes from all the heat. But, lo and behold, the owners do keep some decently clean towels in the supply closet, so I grab one for each of us. I take one more heavy breath before heading back into the stores floor. Almost immediately as I enter, he asks “Is this you?” My brows hitch before I hand him a towel, “what do you mean?” His splotchy arm points toward a picture of me and the owners a few years back hosting a huge metal concert. It was like our states Coachella, or Sick New World. “Yeah that’s me, in all my… goth glory.” I giggle softly, I had done mine and the couples makeup in a goth style. “They love matching with me, and they always thought my makeup was ‘pretty’” I smile softly, his eyes gently weaving into my distracted appearance “I think you look ethereal” Blinking obliviously at how naturally he complimented me, “I’m sorry, what-?” He turns to me, still entirely topless “I’m sorry, that was inappropriate of me to l say wasn’t i-“ “No! No-“ i interrupt, flustered “Sorry- no, you’re fine! I’m just honestly not used to compliments…” he tilts his head “‘Not used to compliments’? Do you not get complimented often?” With hands on my hips, my cheeks puff slightly as I exhale “In this town? Not really.” He take a step forward “Well, maybe that’ll change…” his black painted mouth smirks cheekily, one of my brows raise in confusion “Me and my friends just moved into town, if they like you as much as I do, they’ll be all over you.”
I blink rapidly, obviously confused, my face heating with blush still trying to figure out what he means by ‘like me as much as he does’ and ‘all over me’. I stand still, overcome with confusion, he laughs brightly, stepping ever so closer “You’re very cute, I don’t know how people here don’t tell you more…” our faces become extremely close, all my senses disappear, the only thing being processed is the extreme volume of my hearts rapid beating. He leans in slowly- oh my god, it’s really happening. I only met him today, but I mean hey- *Honkk* we both snap out of our trance. He laughs softly “That must be them.” I back away, embarrassed “I’ll see you again, right?” I nod warmly “Good” he quickly kisses my cheek, my hands go numb at the surge of romantic energy coursing through my system. He pulls back smiling, some of the paint on his lips now transferred to my cheek, making him chuckle. He turns to leave, putting his cloak on when I speak, “(Y/N)…” his head turns slightly “I know you didn’t ask, but that’s my name…” I smile awkwardly, what if he didn’t know your name- “Beautiful…” he whispers under his breath “I’m Vessel.” He walks out to the parking lot, leaving me alone. I think I’m in love.

How about a comfort fic with Vessel/reader? Your choice on if Vessel comforts the reader or the reader comforts Vessel!
Just Like Rain
(Vessel x Gender Neutral Reader)
Synopsis: Your anxieties overtake you, and Vessel is there to guide you through them.
Warnings: Self-deprecation, thoughts of unworthiness and self-hatred, language, unintentionally cathartic for me
Word Count: 1557
A/N: Thank you so much for requesting this, anon! I'm so excited for you to read my first Vessel fic!
A little housekeeping for those who have read through my Request Guidelines, and may be confused about me writing for a real person when it says I don't. That is still the case, but Vessel is a character when it comes down to it. So, I feel comfortable writing for him, especially in the way I've written him here.
Also—and I hope this goes without saying—I will not entertain theories and rumors about any of Sleep Token's identities.
Enjoy the music for what it is, as the band intended. And I truly hope you enjoy my interpretation of Vessel.

The burn felt good. The steam made you breathe heavier, but you didn’t want this to be easy. You wanted to feel every inhale—stand under the water until you were seared from within; until it felt like you were in your body and not a whisper away from being dragged into oblivion.
You choked back a sob; still so fearful someone would hear you when you were the only one home.
There was no reason for you to cry.
So many people had it so much worse.
But here you were, on the verge of panic because you didn’t feel like yourself. You didn’t even feel human.
You wished you could put a name to it, but you couldn’t.
What was wrong with you?
Why did you have to feel like this? It came out of nowhere. Like you were struck by a fucking semi.
You just wanted it to stop. You wanted to feel normal, to not have these sudden bouts of...of what? Melancholia? Sadness? Anger? No word seemed strong enough for it.
All you wanted was to rip it out.
Your tears fell harder.
The water cooled. You turned the knob further.
And then there were arms around you.
You tensed, choking back your sobs and covering your mouth as if you could hide what he had already seen.
Slowly, carefully, as if you would break, Vessel turned you to face him.
Without a word, he cupped the back of your head and brought it into the crook of his neck.
You refused to remove your hand.
All it did was make your shoulders tremble.
His fingers traced up and down your arm, more of a breeze than a touch. His other hand slid down to the back of your neck. The pressure of it spread through your body.
Your hand dropped from your mouth and tentatively found its way to his chest. And as he inhaled, you let your hands travel to his back as you stepped closer.
He held you there, head resting atop yours.
It was only when you shivered that you realized he had turned you, blocking you from the piping hot spray.
You sniffled, finally looking at him.
He cupped your cheeks, brushing away the tear tracks, then pressed his forehead to yours.
Let us go to our room, my love.
His words passed into your mind. You nodded.
He stopped the water, helped you out of the shower, and dried you both.
He guided your limbs into your sleepwear and covered himself with loose black pants. He looked almost...human...like this.
You couldn’t help thinking that he was more human than most everyone out there.
---
Your day started out fine.
You woke from a wonderful dream—one Vessel had created. A peaceful afternoon beneath a willow tree, snuggled into his side, his fingers trailing along your forearm, down to your fingertips.
He had tilted your face toward his, kissing your forehead. You had closed your eyes, and when you opened them, you were in bed, his lips still pressed to your skin.
You got ready for work, Vessel watching as you moved through your room to the bathroom and back. He enjoyed observing you. The personal rituals you did for different occasions, different times of day. Perhaps the one he enjoyed the most was when you asked for his opinion when your ensemble was complete.
He’d stand from his perch on the foot of your bed and step toward you as if in a trance.
“You are breathtaking, my love.” He always spoke it. He wanted you to hear the power in the words—the power you held over him.
You left, and Vessel would gather with the others. You’d ask him about his day, but admittedly, you were still confused about everything they could do—everything they were charged with doing.
Maybe that was where is started.
You didn't understand. Could never understand.
And a chasm opened.
You were so fucking stupid.
You deserved to feel like this.
Insignificant.
Unneeded.
Unwanted.
Everyone was better off without you.
He’d be happier without you.
All these fucking noises.
Why was everything so goddamn loud.
Dogs barking. Cars honking. That fucking clock that wouldn’t shut the fuck up!
It all made you so angry. Why were you so angry?
You had to make it stop.
That’s how you ended up in the shower. At least there you could control the noise. You could feel it mark you. Let the heat punish you.
A hand on your back pulled you back to reality.
Let me see you, darling.
You didn’t move, wished you didn’t need to breathe.
He didn’t deserve this. He needed someone as extraordinary as him, someone who could understand. You could barely wrap your mind around how vast he was; he was everything, and you were—
“You are my heart.”
A sob escaped. You had forgotten. Too consumed in your own thoughts that you forgot to keep them from him, to stop projecting them.
He whispered your name, and all you heard was his heartbreak.
You refused to look at him, covering your mouth to keep your cries back.
“Please,” he urged. “Please believe me. You are the most precious to me. Do not think of yourself with such loathing.”
His hand rested on your side, a silent plea to face him. When you didn’t, he forced you to. He never did that—used his strength against you—but this was an exception.
“I am the one who does not deserve you. My existence is burdensome to you...but I am too selfish. I cannot lose you. I will not leave you willingly. I...I will stay by your side...until you demand otherwise.”
It pained him to imagine it. He was so bad at hiding his emotions. And yet, it was what you needed. That break in his voice parted your darkness. The thought of him ever not being here scared you.
“I don’t—” You hiccupped. “I don’t want you to leave.”
“Darling,” he breathed, sympathy and relief in that one word. “Come here.”
You wrapped your arms around his waist while his settled over your shoulders.
“My place is by your side,” he said. “Thank you for allowing me here.”
Squeezing, you nuzzled your face into his neck. The edges of his mask-like features settled you into reality. He was here and so were you, and you were together.
You sniffled; throat too thick to speak.
I love you.
His mouth pressed into your crown.
You are the one I cherish most.
At the end of your exhale, relaxation enveloped you—a heaviness only he could instill.
You didn’t want to talk. You didn’t need to. You just needed this day to be over.
Sleep, my beloved. And awake anew.
---
You didn’t dream that night, and you were grateful. It was the kind of emptiness you needed.
When you opened your eyes, you were facing Vessel. Your fingers were touching, bodies apart but connected, always.
Sometimes it was difficult to tell if he was awake. Even facing one another, the spaces where his eyes should be neither opened nor closed. His breathing was what gave him away. But not this morning. Today, it was the way his pinky finger wrapped around yours.
Dearest one.
It moved through your mind like a gentle breeze, and it sounded like “good morning.”
He seemed to move before you did, anticipating you shifting closer, so his arm wrapped around you and his hand caressed the back of your head.
You are rested?
You hummed. He always asked when you both knew he didn’t need to. His insecurities needed the reassurance that he had helped you.
Yes. Thank you.
You punctuated it by gliding your lips along his throat and placing a kiss above his Adam’s apple.
The purr that erupted pulled the corner of your mouth up. He was always responsive in the mornings, less guarded before the walls of your bubble faded.
What are you feeling?
Not “how,” but “what.”
Inhaling, you took stock of yourself. You recalled your pain from yesterday, but that already felt so long ago. Like your mind was trying to protect itself after what it put you through.
All you really felt was him.
Safe.
His head tilted downward so your foreheads touched.
That pleases me.
You rubbed your nose with his. Content to simply feel him.
The others and I have decided I shall remain with you today.
It had taken you a while to get used to the connection him and the rest shared. Honestly, you were a bit jealous. After all, how convenient it was to cancel plans just by thinking about it. He probably did it in the seconds before you woke up.
So, what should we do?
Anything that will make you happy.
That sincerity always made you pause and scrutinize him. How could anyone truly mean that?
Yet somehow, he did. Every time.
And if I said this?
You traced curves and swirls onto his back, reveling in the strength you felt within. Sometimes you swore his power was tangible.
“Then I shall continue to warm your bed.”
Your flush was instantaneous, and you knew he could feel it against his neck. But before you could stutter a reply, your stomach growled.
“Perhaps breakfast first?” he asked.
You nodded. “Definitely.”

a/n: this is just pure, tooth-rotting fluff w vessel. it’s a complete contrast to my first smut fic w him lmao. also i hope you’re doing well anon!
cw: reader is bad at expressing emotions. overprotective vessel. lots of comfort and fluff
┅✦┅
sometimes there was comfort in the dark.
only sometimes. tonight was one of those few exceptions.
prior to that, you were curled up underneath the bed, cobwebs and dust scattered everywhere, but none of that mattered. there was only a handful of soft and plus items that you could cling to, at least to try and soothe your pain.
what a mess you were. curled up in fetal position like a weak kitten, only having your own arms to comfort yourself and try to create some sort of warmth.
but there was barely anything warm in the abysmal coldness that swelled in your heart.
as you silently sobbed to yourself, an alluring darkness peeked underneath the bed, observing you with the utmost curiosity.
“bad day?”
you looked up from where you were curled up to observe where the voice came from. a commanding, yet enchanting presence was observing you with a curious, yet slightly concerned look. you couldn’t see his face, but his aura emitted his emotions strongly enough for you to say.
“mmh.” you hummed back quietly, voice slightly crisp from your silent crying.
the dark one frowned underneath his mask. vessel has been a being that had popped up every now and then in your bedroom, the sleep entity who was known to visit people at the strike of midnight and consume their everlasting dreams. he was one to be feared, but you’ve grown used to his presence.
for some reason, he kept on visiting you frequently, and you grew less scared of him, more so tolerating his presence. however, you’ve never seen him be.. tender, or at least show one basic empathetic emotions.
vessel just sighed and stood up, looking away from underneath the bed. you thought he was going to finally leave you alone.
that was until you felt a surge of darkness from underneath the bed scoop you up from under the bed and into your mattress, making you squeak from surprise. you sat up to look at the dark, almost alluring being looming over you.
“y/n.” vessel stated firmly. “tell me, what’s going on?”
you didn’t know what to say. i mean— this incredibly powerful, almost otherworldly being, was asking how you were doing? you felt like you were in a novel.
it was kind of sweet knowing vessel had the heart to ask about your mental state.
but at the same time, you didn’t want to open up, at least not yet. you were too caught up in your storm of emotions.
sighing and turning your head, you faced the wall against your bed, and you could hear vessel’s disappointment in his sigh. but nonetheless, he understood.
“i see.” he started out.
vessel thought to himself for a moment. how could he comfort this mere mortal? and more importantly, why was he doing this? no human has ever drawn his attention like this. no, he was too good for that. anyone who dares to even be within his vicinity should bask in his presence.
whatever it was, vessel was going to have to worry about that later. the sleep entity just groaned and disappeared for a moment, before coming back with a pile of stuffed animals.
“here.” he spoke. “take these. if you’re not gonna talk, at least take my help.”
you looked up at him confused, almost mind-blown. was this real? if you weren’t so deeply rooted in your own mind, you would’ve asked vessel what the hell he was going.
noticing your hesitance, vessel sighed. he wasn’t too good at this human, comforting stuff. but he was going to try.
“well?” he asked again, his tone slightly more firm.
noticing his urgency, you just nodded before taking the stuffed animals in his arms. as you looked through the pile, you realized that all of these plushies were of your favorite animals and brands. there’s no way this could’ve been a coincidence. vessel must’ve been paying attention to your interests during the times he stalks you in your sleep.
noticing how your eyes gleamed a bit, a slight chuckle escaped his lips. “yeah, i knew you’d like these ones. i know you’re not much of a talker, but i know what you like.”
he didn’t know what force of satan compelled him to do this, but vessel shimmied around to sit himself behind you, and hug you from behind, drawing you to his cold, firm chest. your eyes widened from the contact, but you didn’t protest.
“just relax, y/n.” vessel spoke in a more soft tone. “whatever it is, i’ll do my best to comfort you. even if i don’t understand any of this human shit.”
you couldn’t help but chuckle at his words. that certainly made you feel a little bit better. smiling softly, vessel sighed and rested his chin on the top of your head, drawing you closer to his body.
his body was cold, and his hands were calloused and dark. but there was a strange comfort in his hold. subconsciously, you intertwined your fingers with his. vessel didn’t protest, he could feel your body start to relax and your emotions start to calm down.
a strange surge of protectiveness overtook vessel’s body. he’s never seen a human this distressed, and this desperate for comfort. you looked so little compared to him, and you just curled up in his form. vessel, the dark entity of sleep, was comforting a mere human.
he didn’t want to see you like this anymore. even if it went against his values, he was going to keep you safe and protected. vessel didn’t want to see you hurt like this again.
maybe it was the tike you both spent together that softened his empty heart.
he liked it.
and for the first time in a while, he felt warmth in his chest.

moth to a flame - vessel
Tumblr media
vessel (sleep token) x gn!reader
warnings: fluff, inhuman?vessel, probably not lore-accurate
word count: 781
your body still felt heavy as you slowly awoke, the light of day creeping through a crack in the curtain, illuminating a small portion of the otherwise still dark room. you rolled over and began to get out of the bed, when vessels painted arms wrapped around you, pulling you back against his chest. you hummed as he tucked his face into the crook of your neck, and you swore he was almost purring.
“do not leave me yet.”
“i won’t. but i do have to get up at some point; we need groceries,” you laughed. vessel smiled, though you could not see it. he thought to himself, that was no reason to leave, though he seldom needed to eat anyways. your mere presence in coalition with the strength sleep gave him was enough to keep him alive. vessel began to pepper soft kisses across the skin of your neck as down your shoulder, holding you so tightly you almost found it hard to breathe.
“what’s gotten into you?” you mused. vessel usually wasn’t this clingy, he was usually a little hard to read, almost as if there was more to him than you knew. but in this moment he was holding on to you like you were a lifeline, and to him, you were.
“i wonder each day where you came from, because you cannot be of this earth.” oh the irony in his words, but he felt it to be true. “every ounce of my being belongs to you,” he promised, rolling over to cage you beneath his form.
“vessel-“ you stared up at him with teary eyes, your heart so full, never having felt so loved in your life. you didn’t know you could feel anything like this until you found vessel.
“do not cry, my love,” he placed a kiss to your forehead as your hands reached up to cradle either side of his neck, in awe of the man before you. “do not waste tears on me. if you cried for every moment i loved you it would never cease.”
“what did i do to deserve you?” you asked, and he smiled.
“it is the other way. it is i who ponders if i am enough for you. i would light myself ablaze to keep you warm without a moments hesitation. you are the only thing i need on this earth.”
“i love you,” was all you could manage to say, but vessel didn’t seem to mind as he kissed your lips.
“say that you will always be mine,” vessel pleaded softly. sitting up, he slid one of the rings off his finger, and placed it in your hand.
“vessel, are you-“
“promise me. i have not a life without you, and in all my past lives i know that i have loved only you.”
“i promise,” you nodded, leaning up to kiss him. his hands reach out and pulled you into his lap, before taking the ring from his hand and sliding it onto your ring finger. somehow it fit perfectly although his hands were larger than yours, almost like magic. “i don’t know what to say. i love you so much, vessel.” you threw your arms around his neck in a tight hug, and he held you impossible close.
“you need not say anything. you have given me everything i could ever need and more, just by gracing me with your presence.”
“i would give you more if i could.” you admitted, overwhelmed with emotion as tears began to trail down your cheeks.
“what more could i want, than you? should hell take me if i die, i have already lived a lifetime in heaven with you.”
“if you die?” you asked. there was something special about vessel, almost otherworldly like he perhaps was more than human. you could feel it in the way he spoke to you, the way he touched you.
“yes,” he replied. “i fear i cannot die while my love for you still courses through my veins. it is too strong to allow it. as well, you are wise enough to know that i am….different.” he had never spoken of his divergence before, but you were not surprised.
“vessel, whatever beyond you came from, they must be miserable that i have you now. because i don’t plan on giving you back,” you kissed him deeply. “not in this lifetime.”
“perhaps in another?” he teased, and you shook your head with a smile.
“not in any lifetime. i think you’re stuck with me.” vessel wiped the tears from your face, leaving light streaks of black paint across your skin as it rubbed off his fingertips.
“i would not wish for anything else.”

Can I get some comfort from the Sleep Token boys, including V? Like they find reader crying and they go comfort them? Pls and ty
-💙
Of course of course!! I added my own take on this but I hope you enjoy it.
The Sleep Token boys find you crying. Including my oc, V
Vessel
At first he didn’t understand the noise he was hearing, just followed it to find the source. When he noticed it was you crying, he stood there shocked and unsure of what to do. He was not used to this display or even taking care of people, but something urged him to try. So try he did. Vessel slowly walks up to you and holds his hand out, looking at you through his mask. You take it confused, tears still falling and shoulders still shaking. Once he gets this semi-form of consent, he slowly gets on your level and cautiously wraps his arms around you. His hug is awkward and unsure causing you to laugh through the tears. Vessel slowly relaxes and pulls you into a genuinely comforting hug. “Stop your tears. I’ll do anything”
II
As soon as he noticed your shoulders begin to shake and your face turns red, he stares openly at you. Only when the tears begin to actually fall does he take action, dragging you into a tight hug with his hand holding the back of your head. He allows you to cry, cry over whatever is bothering you. II never lets go and just stares at you longing to help in any way. He’ll try his best by rubbing patterns into your back and sometimes drumming his fingers against your spine. If he feels like none of this is working, he’ll search for your favorite item and hand it to you. Tired eyes meet tired eyes, the two of you just enjoying the soft come down of your crying. Afterward, II will pull you onto the couch and turn on a movie to help distract you. “Pick the movie… We can take a nap to it...”
III
He full-on panics at the sight of your tears, ready to hurt the cause of those tears. III races around trying to grab whatever snacks, blankets, stuffed animals, or anything he can find. He’ll offer them up to you with a slight bounce in his step. He may be goofy and a spasm at times, but III genuinely cares for everyone. If your tears don’t stop, he’ll freeze before grabbing you and pulling you into his lap in a tight bear hug. The bassist will rock you slowly like a mother would their child. He is unsure but he knows that no matter what he’ll try his best to improve your mood. Maybe going as far as telling you goofy stories of him and the other boys, maybe allowing you to just scream into his chest. Anything plus more. “So there was this time I-”
IV
He notices it before you really begin to cry. He had stumbled across you trying to escape from the room to find a place to hide. IV would follow you and ask if you are okay, of course, that is when the tears finally begin to fall. You snuffle and shake your head while holding yourself in an attempt to hold it together. He sighs softly and pulls you into him, hugging you gently allowing you to break free at any moment. IV hums quietly while rocking the two of you side to side. If he is comfortable enough, he’ll place gentle kisses on top of your head through his mask. Similarly to II, he’ll turn his fingers across your spine in a soothing motion. He doesn’t even might in you stay in his arms all night while soaking his shirt with your tears. IV isn’t positive what he is doing is working, but he’ll try his best. “Is there anything I can do…”
V
He had run across you crying on his way to go bother one of the others. The fear of “oh god did someone hurt you” ran through his veins. His first reaction is to look you over checking for any bumps or bruises. Once he finds none, he’ll gently wipe away your tears and stare into your eyes, a gentle non-verbal way of asking if you are okay. V will scoop you up in his arms bridal style and place you into his mess of blankets then dig to find his favorite snacks. He’ll give them to you and then make sure you are hydrated enough after the tears have passed. Once he deems you feed, he’ll pull you into his lap and rest his forehead against yours. Humming a soft song and rubbing your back in the meantime. “Don’t be afraid to talk to someone...”

So...... I'm bored, so have this fluff oc x canon oneshot undercut. ↓
[ HC: Ace is Vessel's emotional supporter #2, he'll always comfort him and be there for him forever! Especially the others. ]
April 29, 5:12 AM. In a mid-early morning, to where Ace hasn't been asleep in his room for 10 hours now. His daily routine of taking an all-nighter is what he does perhaps, or he had another nightmare again, til before going on a tour for arizona tomorrow. He sighed in a tone of quietness that can be heard across Ace's mouth.. his right tired eye is glowing in neon dark blue. Shining all around the room..
To know that this color represents true sadness and true sorrow, Ace really chose this color just to get born with it. As he was about to get back on having sorrowful dreams.. Ace heard a door slowly creaking coming from his own room door, but he already closed his eye to "sleep". Even though sleeping with an eyepatch on the left seems a bit awkward and weird.
Ace honestly knew who came to his room due to himself having an ability to sense things, and what he knew is that he sensed Vessel coming here. But he thinks that he may or may not also have a nightmare, or was it something else? Who knows?
"Ace, you awake?" Vessel tiredly said, the singer stood here after he closed the door, then he sat down next to the sleepy eyepatched boi just to not disturb him. But he noticed that Ace lightly giggled, trying to pretend huh? Vessel thought with a slight smirk on his face. Then he had an idea.
And with that, Vessel started slowly tickling the sensitive part of Ace's neck.. thinking that this will work, but it did.
Ace sadly didn't win the tickle plan, causing the boy to giggle and laugh in a soft loud tone. He then sat back up and playfully fist bumped Vessel's left shoulder just to make him stop, while the singer giggled too. He was just glad that the plan worked that's all.
"Man, you really dare to get me aren't you Vess?" Ace said, while slightly rubbing his own right tired eye before going back to look at him.
"Well, I just want to check up on my favorite duetist that's all.. And by the way, i've just seen you walking alone in my dreams last night again, to where you are walking from the empty mist if I'm correct.." He said to a slight low quiet tone, and Ace can tell that this is the real reason why Vessel visits him. But that is a true statement.
"I see, I thought I was the only one having those sorrowful dreams.." Ace said in a quiet tone, but he felt a soft forehead kiss to the singer which made the duetist blush a bit softly enough.
"That's okay, if I am managing to meet you.. we could've make trouble together in our sorrow dreams, if you know what I mean love?"
. . .
With a 3 second silence, Ace immediately blushed very red after realizing that the singer is flirting, it made the duetist starting to stutter and then covered his entire embarrassed face.
"...bloody hell.. your too good to be this flirty.." The duetist muffled quietly in an literal embarrassed face. Vessel chuckled softly to how cute the duetist is blushing. But he did let out a hand crawling on Ace's back, slowly and gently hugging him. Til a second forehead kiss came here again to cheer the duetist up.
Eventually, Ace stopped being embarrassed and just embraced Vessel's gentle hug by hugging him back too. That makes it so warm for the duetist to have happy dreams, no wonder why Vessel gave him most attention during the concerts..
Vessel let out a quiet sigh, a smile still there for being proud to make his duetist happy.. after all, the two duet together in each songs, and they even have a lot of fun together. That's what true support is.
"Hey.. Ace? Are you excited for your rehearsal? Because you're about to sing some songs for our new setlist with me. I can tell that you are really happy to do this right?" Vessel said in a calm, quiet tone. Til Ace nodded while hugging but he felt quiet.. he must've enjoyed this warm hug.
Which made the singer feel...bliss. Very bliss.
He can't wait to duet with him forever until whatever happens to them. No matter what, he's glad to choose him as new member.
"Okay, good to hear you are excited.. Ace."
