I moved into Baby's First House last year and I'd been saving for quite a while to have a down payment and some money for accessibility modifications, but what with the housing boom and COVID-era price increases for renovations, I ended up only having enough money for a few of the changes I needed to make.

(Don't worry, I managed to get a stair lift!! That was the biggest one.)

And I gotta tell you, it's amazing how many soul-sucking work situations I've managed to get through in the last six months by going "SARAH, DON'T YOU WANT TO BE ABLE TO SHOWER SAFELY?"

Every time I have to take a shower in that house I end up standing there in immense pain like "and this is why you gotta finish that copyedit on your desk" and it is actually a wildly successful carrot. Or is it the stick? lmao

So uhhh LET'S JUST SAY I've been open to more forms of work lately than I otherwise would be. It's why I gathered up the bravery to enter that writing contest last year, and I mean. Obviously that one paid off. Winning that put a solid chunk into the bathroom fund... even if I had to deal with some weird harassment...

That said, my recent health issues have also made writing/editing a lot more difficult lately... So it's kind of a catch-22, huh... My accessibility needs have made it so I'm willing to work more, but my accessibility needs also prevent me from working as much as I'd like. :|

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT????
