Nancy: How many people have you slept with since we broke up?
Robin: He doesn’t wanna answer that question ‘cause he’s kind of a whore.
Steve: A whore?!
Robin: Sorry. Slut. He’s a slut.

Hi! It’s me again, i’ve done this for about five months now i think (can’t really remember) Basically i’m here to remind you how much you writing means to all of us. Writing is fun to do and it should always be something you do because you love it, and we love it too!! I read very often it’s probably what i do all day most days. I truly truly do appreciate all you guys do for us readers! You don’t have to write but you do and it means a lot. It’s really wonderful that you all work to expand on what we were all originally given. You all do such good work at making us feel through your fics. I’ve laughed and cried and felt like i’ve lived through hundreds of lives through your work. You are all super amazing ♥️♥️♥️
Most of us write for fun because it’s honestly amazing to put out fanfics for us and you all and it means so much when you show your support by commenting or re-blogging or doing both just so we all know you like our work!!!
I LOVE YOU ALL SO SO MUCH KEEP DOING YOU!!! THANK YOU FOR FEEDING US OUR FANFICS!!! (Did i sneak myself in this post… yes, yes i did because i write for almost all of these characters if not all of them soon, plus it’s only one person cause i cant find people who write for that character) (I do try to expand every characters writers with each post but sometimes i just don’t find anymore 😕)
PSA - If you would like me not to include you in these anymore please let me know cause i would understand if you don’t like being tagged in a post every month

Wedding Season
Tumblr media
The sweet tang of champagne lingered on the breeze. Strangers laughed and danced. The setting sun kissed the skies pink. Satin and taffeta draped over every curve, every seat, every brick and stone. Officially, it's wedding season. 🥂💍
This is my summer celebration!!! I was inspired by a few writers on this site who are doing season-long fic celebrations, and I knew I had to get on board. How better than with a set of angsty and steamy fics about the ups and downs of wedding season!?
The Fics:
A French Affair • Robin x Harrington!Reader • The south of France was an idyllic location for any wedding, and it's made even better when you arrive early and meet a beautiful girl at a night club. Only, when your cousin introduces you to his best friend the next day, you realize your one-night fling might have become a sticky situation. Coming 6/22
Have Mercy • Rockstar!Eddie x Reader • A look back on the events that led to your perfect Little White Chapel wedding to the man of your dreams.
Friend or Faux • Nancy x Reader • When investigative journalist Nancy Wheeler gets handed a fluff piece about wedding season, she does her damndest to find the seedy side of the industry. Only problem is, she needs a fiancée. That's where you come in.
Sabrina • Steve x Reader • Your father was his chauffeur for your entire life, and you watched all the galas and events from the tree outside. One year, during an extravagant wedding, you’re caught by the neighbor boy of your dreams.
.
..
🥂💍✨

The Summer Before
Chapter 1: Boy Talk
[2.6k] long car rides, breakfasts, and breakups. The girls are besties forever <3.  (Reader’s nickname is Blue)
Warning: Getting into AU territory at the end of the chapter, sorry not sorry.
----------
Tumblr media
The summer day was windy and warm. The sky was blue, covered with few clouds and the sound of laughter filled the air.
Day one of the trip already underway with chaos from the kids per usual. Everyone decided to meet at Nancy’s in the morning, her mother making a big breakfast where everyone came, ate and mingled before it was time to pack the cars and head on.
You left Nancy’s briefly to get a bathing suit you forgot was in the dryer and arrived back to see Dustin and Eddie going back and forth. . Mainly Dustin.
“Eddie Eddie Eddie come on, pleasee.” Dustin exaggerates but the older boy is not moving a muscle. “No can do,the van is packed with shit.” You smile as you walk on over to them bickering.
“I can squeeze in the back! I can squeeze in the back and you won’t hear a sound from me.” Dustin says with as much suave he can muster that gets a chuckle out of you.
“Yea, you squeeze in the back and get fucking crushed by a cooler or something and then I have a bloodbath on my hands, no can do.” Eddie says to him, placing his hands against Dustin’s neck who tries to say something but Eddie interrupts him.
“And the passenger is already filled. Sorry kid, maybe on the trip back.”he says with a pat on the back.
Dustin sighs in defeat, greeting you as he walks back into the house to get his things.
Eddie turns to you with a smile, “Hey Blue.” he says to you. You instantly roll your eyes at the nickname that stuck. Nudging your elbow against his side in retaliation you nod your head in the direction of where Dustin once was. “What was that about?”
Eddie sighs as he begins to continue packing his van with the bags and coolers lingering on the asphalt. “He wanted to drive with me and not be with the rest of the kids. Said it that he’s too grown or something.”
You hum in response, your flattened hand going against your forehead to cover your eyes from the sun as you look around. “And he can’t sit in the passenger seat?”
You hear Eddie stop packing, turning back to you. He was full of teasing touches and flirty smiles when it came to you but this was a genuine look of concern and comfort. “Like I told him, seats have been filled, if you need it.” Eddie says to her genuinely.
You let your eyes linger on him. Eddie had his hair pulled up in a claw clip that he had once stolen from you. Calling the hair piece, “fuckin’ genius invention.” He was wearing a plain white shirt, his flannel tied around his waist due to the heat. His silver rings glistened in the sunlight.
“Thank you.” you say softly to him, “But the girls are going in Nancy’s car and the boys in Steve’s so I’ll be fine.”
And almost if you had wished for it. Almost as if he heard you call his name. Steve walks out of Nancy’s house with Dustin trudging behind him.
Your eyes watched Steve who hadn’t seen you yet. He was wearing an olive green tee and light washed jeans that were cuffed at the end. His hair was a little messy from constantly putting his hand through it earlier that morning. You could deny and say he didn’t look beautiful but you would be lying.
You felt a finger poke your side, your eyes moved back to Eddies slowly. His eyebrows raised and a knowing smile against his lips. “Alright Blue?”
You rolled your eyes and for the second time that day you playfully pushed him away from you. Receiving a laugh from him as he grabs onto your arms for support from falling.
You feel hands against your shoulders and a kiss on your cheek as a greeting from Robin. The girl asking you for help to start putting things into Nancy’s car. The both of you go over to help Nancy in your own world of laughter and excitement leaving Eddie to finish with the van.
You heard the older boy tell Dustin that the seat was free for him to take but what you didn’t see was Steve watching you.
A pang went against Steve’s chest as he watched you walk away with Robin. Having watched your playful encounter with Eddie, Steve couldn’t help but feel a little jealous. He pushes the feeling away when he hears his name being called from Lucas. Grabbing the keys from his pocket to unlock the trunk and start packing the bags away.
—-------
With the last bag finally packed and phone calls from parents for a farewell. The group all got in their designated vehicles and headed on to the cabin. Despite giving each driver the directions to the place, Steve drove out first to still guide them on where to go. It was his parent’s place after all.
The windows were down in Nancy’s car. Your chin rested against your palm as you, Robin, Nancy and Max all sang Physical by Olivia Newton John. Max and El sing the loudest on the chorus which makes you laugh. You’re super excited for this trip and immensely glad that you, Nancy and Robin decided that the girls should drive together. The five of you enjoy the music and going into conversations from time to time.
Nancy turns the music down to talk, “Hey, how long has it been?”. You see Robin shuffle in the passenger seat. “30 minutes? Maybe 45?” she says unsure.
Nance groans, “Robin seriously? I thought you said you’d keep up with the time?”
You can see Robins hands move around as she talks from the passenger seat. “I’m sorry but you guys put the music on and I can’t not sing “Let's get Physical”, especially when the chorus comes on. My mind slipped!” Robin exaggerates.
El agrees with Robin on her statement, “Yea, Olivia is bitchin’” which earns a laugh from you. “We’re fine Nance, I think we are about 45 minutes out.” Nancy sighs in acceptance, clicking her indicator to change lanes and keep up with Steve’s car. The music now at a low volume, you can hear Max still humming the lyrics.
Twenty more minutes go by and Max and El are both asleep. Neither of the girls really got much sleep the night before. From what Joyce had told you, Max had stayed over the night before and the two girls were up late trying to figure out their outfits for the trip.
You feel El, who sat in the middle resting her head against your shoulder. You smile at the movement and look up to see Robin looking at you. Her body was twisted to get a proper look at you since you sat behind her. You raise your eyebrows, “Everything alright Rob?” you say curiously
She scratches her short hair, a nervous tick she’s had for a while. “Y-yea everything’s dandy.” she says quickly as her eyes move towards the two younger girls. Your eyes mimic hers and you see both Max and El still asleep. “Just wanted to clarify what that was with you and Steve at breakfast this morning.” Robin’s voice goes down to a whisper when she brings up Steve’s name.
The said thing Robin wanted Blue to clarify was the small altercation her and Steve had. Nancy’s mom had put up a very cute waffle station in the corner of the kitchen. The batter is sitting in a clear bowl with a ladle, the waffle griddle hot and ready covered in butter. You got up for seconds and saw Steve getting up a few seconds after you, you didn’t think anything of it at first until he walked up at the waffle station right next to you.
———
You place your plate a few inches away from the griddle, spraying it with the butter spray so the batter wouldn’t stick. You saw someone place their plate right next to yours and you looked up to see Steve next to you. He gave you a nervous close lipped smile and you returned the gesture.
“Want another waffle?” you ask him as you pour the batter into the griddle. “Got to fuel up.” he says to you as he pats his stomach. You smile, turning your back away from him to place the ladle back into the bowl. You can hear Steve groan to himself.
You sit and wait for the waffle to cook. This is what you didn’t think about, the wait. Of course if you were here by yourself the wait would be fine. You could sit and wait no problem or go sit back down and join the rest of the group. But Steve was here next to you and you didn’t know what to do.
The two of you haven’t really talked privately or been around each other as just the two of you. Not since the night you broke up with him.
You could go sit back down but you didn’t know if that was rude or not. Yea, you broke up with him but that doesn’t mean that you want to hurt him or be rude to him ever. But standing here with him knowing the big elephant between you two made the silence overwhelming.
“So, how are you?” Steve asks, one of his hands on the edge of the counter top, leaning his body weight against it. You nodded your head before responding, “I’m okay.”
“Yeah?” he asks, his head nods with his words almost as if he’s asking again. You nod once to him, lying, “Yeah. You?” you ask him quietly. Steve doesn’t answer immediately. That overwhelming silence crawls back between you for a few seconds. You can hear the sound of the griddle sizzling, the clanking of metal utensils over porcelain dinner plates and laughter from the group.
But the silence between you is what you can hear the most. Your heart is beating almost as if it was inside of your chest and in your palms. Hands extended out to give it to Stev as an offering, as an apology because your heart has always been his.
What feels like minutes were only a few seconds as Steve thankfully responded back to you. “I’m great, I’m uh- looking forward to the trip. Not the drive though.” he says in a whisper, his eyes widened a little that receives a small laugh from you. He smiles at that.
 Great.
That word caused a pang in your chest. He’s doing great, he’s great. He isn’t suffering in silence like you are. You blink away the few tears that want to come up and you smile, tight lipped like Steve did earlier. “I’m glad that you’re doing great.” you say to him.
You don’t know if it was the way you said it or if he could see the pain in your eyes. But Steve’s smile falls from his face, his eyes worrying. You don’t bother seeing any more of his reaction as you turn around to open the griddle and place your waffle on your plate with a bit more force than you mean to.
“The griddle is free.” you say to him as you walk away and sit back in your seat. You grab your glass filled with now lukewarm orange juice and take a sip. Gathering yourself together as much as you can to get back into the conversation.
You feel Robin’s eyes on you, her eyebrows raised as if she’s asking, “You okay?” you smile softly though it never reaches your eyes as you try to listen in to the group. You look up to see Steve walking back to the table, sitting in his chair a few seats away from you. His face looked solemn and quickly changed when Dustin asked him a question.
“ I thought you wanted more food?”
You look down at his plate to see it empty.
Steve scrunches his nose up,”Realized I wasn’t hungry.”
Dustin goes back to his conversation, including Steve in as if it was nothing. Steve looks at you already staring at him. You immediately put your head down, your eyes at your plate only to  just now notice, your waffle was burnt.
You realized that you weren’t hungry now either.
———
You come back to the present from hearing your name being called by Nance. Her eyes are looking at you briefly in the rear view mirror. You shake your head and go back to looking at Robin to answer her question. “It was nothing. We just- we were just checking in.” you say to her.
The car goes silent, Robin squints her eyes as she looks at you, with her body still turned in a way you knew had to be painful. “Just checking in? The look on your face AND Steve’s when you both sat back at the table did not look like it was “just checking in.” she states to you.
You sigh, rubbing your eyes in exhaustion from the memories that filled your mind just moments ago and having to talk about this when you really didn’t want to. You look over at the sleeping younger girls, El moved to lay her head against MAx’s shoulder whose mouth was open and her head leaned back. “I don’t know what else to tell you because that’s exactly what it is.” you say to her with a sigh. Robin doesn’t seem satisfied with your answer  and neither does Nancy.
“Are you sure you guys are okay?” Nancy adds, looking back very quickly to you before her eyes go back to the road. You groan, “I thought we said no boy talk? Especially around the kids?” you state with your arms crossed in frustration
“What’s going on with you and Jonathan Nance?” you taunt, attempting to get the heat off you but knowing it will fail. Robin rolls her eyes, “That’s so irrelevant you know they're fine.”
“We broke up actually.” Nance immediately says.
Her words make the both of you shut up. Robin finally turns back around in her seat, wincing as she does, rubbing the side of her back as she looks across at Nancy.
Nancy’s eyes haven't moved from the road. “How long?” you ask her quietly.
She sighs, flickering her hand up against the indicator to change lanes.
“About a few months ago. It was a week or so after spring break.” she says.
Her hands gripped the steering wheel a little firmly, her knuckles almost white.
“So I agree about the no boys talk.”
Months? You had no idea, and from Robin’s reaction neither did she but it made sense. She didn’t really see Jonathan much and when she did it was never with Nancy. The last time she really saw them in the same room was graduation. “I’m sorry for bringing it up Nance.”
Nance shook her head, “It’s okay Blue, you didn’t know. Neither of you did.”
The car is still silent, both you and Robin not knowing if you should speak up or not. “I’m glad-” Nancy hesitates.
“I’m glad it happened, it was a smart decision. But please no more boys talk until we get there.”
Robin nods in agreement, apologizing to you for bringing Steve up which you told her not to worry about. Nancy turns the music back up and it fills the silence for the rest of the ride.

You guys think Rick invited Nancy (and Morty imagined her in the fear hole) because he thinks she's a good girl and would be perfect for Summer. Like how moms go "Oh my you HAVE to meet this sweet girl!!"
Tumblr media
I mean he stands up for her when Summer writes her off (and look Nancy has a little smile she probably thought he meant about accepting queer people)
Tumblr media
Mayne he just thinks a nice non-problematic nerdy girl is a good fit for his granddaughter so he's nudging them both. I always imagine Rick getting along with Nancy especially since she's such a nerd
Tumblr media
And also she 'ruined the mood' because she asked about snake culture and paradigm shifts. Summer has to be more mature and nice to accept that Nancy would be a good girlfriend!!!

He's with the maggots now
Chapter 2: Learning
Tumblr media
As Dwight and I arrived at the location of the hook, the helpless form of Meg hanging limply from the hook strangely did nothing to me. I felt no fear, empathy, or sadness. Instead, I found myself feeling curious. Dwight turned to me with a stern expression, his eyes locked onto mine. I quickly switch my facial expressions to a more concerned one as I try to look worried for the red-haired woman on the hook. If Dwight noticed the switch he doesn't mention it.
"Pay attention," he urged. A note of seriousness in his voice.
I nodded in acknowledgment, my attention fixed on his every move. With deliberate care, he began the task of unhooking Meg, his hands moving skillfully despite the tense atmosphere that surrounded us. It seems he's been here a while. I guess maybe a few years seeing how practiced his movements are. I watched closely, committing the steps to memory.
Once Meg was safely lowered from the hook, Dwight shifted his focus to healing her. I observed the process with rapt attention, the sight of her injuries slowly mending under Dwight's hands. It was strange. He didn't seem like he was a nurse or a doctor. In fact, he looked like an office worker. But here he was, healing "Meg" without much strain.
Maybe he's been here for way longer than I guessed. They all have.
Once Dwight had successfully healed Meg, a peculiar look from her didn't escape my notice. I tried to maintain my composure despite the lingering sensation that something about me was off-kilter.
As Dwight cleared his throat, I knew he was about to introduce me to the lady as the newest addition to the realm.
"Hey, Meg, this is our newest survivor, (y/n)," Dwight said calmly.
Thankfully, he left out the part where he caught me eating dirt.
"Hello... you," I greeted Meg, my voice carefully modulated to sound as human and natural as possible. Meg's strange look deepened, and just as she seemed poised to say something, my heart began to pound in my chest.
I glanced at Dwight, seeking an explanation for this sudden rush of adrenaline. He informed me in a hushed tone, "Our hearts do that when the killer is close." His gesture urged us to follow him, and without a moment's hesitation, we left the immediate area.
As we moved away from the killer's radius, my racing heart gradually settled into a steadier rhythm. The tension that had hung in the air began to dissipate, replaced by a calm quiet.
We stumbled upon one of the generators that Dwight had mentioned earlier, its metallic structure standing within trees, looking completely out of place. Dwight and Meg wasted no time and immediately set to work on it.
However, before I could join in, Meg halted me with a stern, albeit somewhat condescending, remark. "We don't need the newbie screwing it up," she declared, her voice laced with annoyance.
Dwight, visibly nervous, quickly interjected, scolding Meg gently. "Come on, Meg, give (y/n) a chance. We were all new here once."
Reluctantly, Meg relented, but her gaze remained doubtful. She seemed to be watching my every move.
I wonder if she saw my facial expressions when I saw her hanging on the hook or lack thereof.
Dwight, seemingly eager to defuse any potential tension, spoke up.
"Why don't you just watch for now, (y/n)? You'll get the hang of it soon enough." With that, he returned his focus to the generator, his fingers deftly manipulating its inner workings.
I nodded, though a feeling of frustration gnawed at me. I might be new to this world, but I was determined to prove myself. For now, though, I took Dwight's advice and observed their work, my eyes trained on the intricate dance of their movements as they worked to activate the generator and inch us one step closer to escape.
As time passed, the generator we had, or they had, been working on finally "popped" to life, its sudden activation accompanied by a subtle hum of electricity. Dwight, ever vigilant, wasted no time in informing me of the situation. "We should move. The killer knows our location," he said with a sense of urgency.
I nodded in understanding. It was time to relocate and stay one step ahead of the danger.
I followed closely behind Dwight and Meg as we moved to another part of the map, the tension in the air palpable. I couldn't help but notice Meg casting the same strange look as before in my direction, her gaze lingering for a moment before she turned her head back to the front of her.
└──────┘└──────┘└──────┘└──────┘└──────┘
It wasn't long before we reached the last generator. It appears the last trialmate has been "looping" the killer pretty well.
I was acutely aware of my own inexperience, my fingers occasionally fumbling with the wires, but I managed to keep pace without any major mistakes so far. As we pushed on, determined to complete the generator, a sudden scream pierced the air, causing the two beside me to jump in surprise.
Meg mutters a curse under her breath. "I'll go unhook Nancy," she declared, her decision made before Dwight could even speak.
Before any of us could react further, Meg sprinted off toward the source of the scream; her determination to save her friend from the hook was somewhat admirable. Dwight and I exchanged a quick glance as we continued to work on the generator.
Within a few minutes, the gen popped to life.
As the generator hummed, a strange sensation washed over me, a feeling of vulnerability intertwined with a peculiar sense of protection. It was as if I had been laid bare, yet simultaneously cocooned in a shroud of secrecy, shielded from prying eyes. I glanced at Dwight, wondering if he had experienced this odd sensation too, but his demeanor appeared unperturbed as he calmly started to move away from the generator.
I decided to keep the strange sensation to myself, not wanting to complicate the already tense situation.
Dwight's words broke through the momentary distraction. "We need to find the exit gate," he declared. I nod and follow him.
However, it seems fate had other plans. A scream pierced the air as me and Dwight both halted in our tracks. Something then whispers in my ear and I struggle to understand it. I look at Dwight and it seems he hears it as well.
Dwight's face paled visibly, and he uttered words that left me with a sense of curiosity. "The killer brought 'NOED,'" he explained.
My brows furrowed in confusion at the unfamiliar term, and without hesitation, I blurted out, "I don't know who the hell Edd is, but I'm gonna go help."
With that, I offered Dwight no more than a determined look before I sprinted in the direction of the scream, a rush of adrenaline fueling my resolve to assist Meg, regardless of who this "Edd" was.

Heres a question for the Scott Summers and Jonathan Byers enjoyer But Do you see the similarities between Jonathan/Nancy/Steve and Scott/Jean/Logan? Mostly in the fan perception but also somewhat thematic. In the sense that Nancy and Jonathan are the so called "Power couple" of the show as they say and Nancy is Jonathan's first love in the same way Jean was Scott's. I've always felt Scott's relationship to the younger x-men was meant to something where he's slightly more of an outsider and I feel that's Jonathan's relationship to the kids in the show barring Will. That he's a figure to them but he's not involved in them like Steve is, similar to Scott and Logan. Him and Nancy to me occupy pretty much the same space in the show as Scott and Jean do in New X-Men if that makes sense. And furthermore if Nancy is Jonathan's Jean, do you think that there is an Emma Frost for him? We were kind of very briefly introduced to Samantha in s2. However it seems like 90% of Jonathan fans are Jancy/Stonathan/Jargyle and I don't hate any of these ships but I always wonder if there's an Emma Frost for him and sometimes I feel like maybe Argyle is his Emma.
Ah, intriguing!
Outrageously gratuitous rambling under the cut, as usual. :) Sorry for the length of this response--you brought up a lot of interesting ideas and sparked a few more.
Hmm. Yeah, I'd say there are similarities. I'm with you that Scott's relationship with the younger X-Men was always one as an outsider. Partly it's due to his function within the group, both in the role that Xavier assigned him and the way he just naturally relates to people. He's not great with people, but he'll get things done, so he's good at getting the best out of people in a technical, pragmatic way, but not necessarily always particularly sensitive about it (though more than I think people give him credit for). And that's not something people love to engage with, even if it helps them. He accepts this.
So he's a leader, but also a loner, but also pretty lonely because he was alone at his weakest and most vulnerable, and there are so many layers between him and even his peers, let alone all of these other people for whom he's responsible. (Let's face it--he doesn't have a lot of true peers. Mostly just the original team, a handful of others.) And that's how he relates to them: as the person who's going to keep them alive. As a person who doesn't want them to go through what he has, but who is fully aware that his capacity to shield them from those things is limited, so all he can do is help them to protect themselves and step up for them. (Hence Schism.)
And then we have Jonathan, who will absolutely defend those kids with his life, but he's not responsible for them unless he's the only closest-thing-to-an-adult around. He's only responsible for Will--but he's extremely responsible for Will. He's half-raising that kid, ill-equipped as he is. But he is that older guy in their lives, until Steve comes along (and the former is something about which I spend a lot of time thinking). Steve isn't exactly more approachable than Jonathan, but he's cooler, and he's different and new, and Jonathan is pulling away a bit around this time because he's trying to actually develop an identity and relationships that aren't based around the responsibilities on his shoulders (analogous, in some ways, to Scott, who also has to sort of reinvent himself around that time). Whereas Steve is getting closer to them because his identity is in flux in a totally different way--he's had to come to grips with what a shithead he was and he wants to be better, and, in a way, the kids become a part of that journey for him. So a lot of it is timing.
Jonathan & Nancy do have a similar kind of distance from the Party that's reminiscent of Scott & Jean's distance in New X-Men. Though it's particularly interesting because Jonathan & Nancy get really close then, whereas Scott and Jean are drifting farther and farther apart. (Though let's be honest, if Jonathan and Nancy developed a telepathic connection with no explanation, I'd just accept it as canon and be like yeah that tracks of course they can do that.) And Scott is an absolute mess during New X-Men. Jean isn't doing great either, but Scott's just coming off the whole Apocalypse thing and it shows.
And Jean was… not written as particularly supportive or understanding during this time. (This is Morrison's doing, of course--that kind of weird writing of women shows up all throughout the series and, you know, their other works.) I'm always struck by that one scene where Scott actually tries to open up, and Jean basically tells him that his being taken over by an overwhelming evil force that hijacked his body and mind is in no way comparable to her being hijacked by an overwhelming cosmic entity that hijacks her body and mind and that he couldn't possibly understand what it's like. Like, she just shuts it down and kind of laughs off his attempt to relate and explain to her what he's going through. And that moment was the beginning of the end for their marriage, I think. He really never tried to open up to her again. (I'm not blaming Jean here, necessarily. It's just a really sad scene.)
You know, I wouldn't say that Jonathan & Nancy's issues approach anywhere near the level of dysfunction that New X-Men era Scott & Jean demonstrate, but they're pretty emotionally (and obviously physically) distant in S4. Of course, a couple of frank conversations would solve that (or at least start to). Fan perception-wise, though, yeah, the parallels are definitely stronger.
If we're framing them with the Scott/Jean/Logan lens, I can see Steve and Logan parallels, too--they're brave, have a moral code, can take a lot of abuse, and care a lot about protecting kids even though they're gonna bitch and snark the whole time. (And again I'm reminded of my pet theory that Steve has a healing factor and no one has noticed yet. It's the only way to make sense of how he's still alive and without permanent injury.) I'd say there are fanon parallels, too, but I'm already getting off-track here, so I'm not gonna get into that.
The dynamics between J/N/S and S/J/L are pretty different, and definitely functionally different, but I'm gonna be thinking about this one for a while.
I'm also sort of intrigued by the Jean & Nancy comparison. They don't really have the same function in the narrative, but there's still interesting stuff to play with there. They both come from sort of charmed backgrounds, with more or less solid families who were comfortable financially. Jean's family was more loving, where Nancy's parents certainly love their children but they're sort of blandly eh on each other. Aside from being a mutant (though one who could pass as a non-mutant), Jean has it pretty good--she's beautiful, intelligent, decently popular and well-liked. She does okay. Then Dark Phoenix happens and from that point forward, there's all this dark stuff associated with her.
Nancy's not exactly popular, but she's doing fine. No one is shitty to her, probably; she's pretty, intelligent, academically successful, not a loner at all, and she's got a very popular boy genuinely interested in her. Then her best friend is eaten by a monster, and everything goes sideways--she's forever altered. I'm not going to say that there's any particular darkness associated with her, but I do think that we see some of her less savory tendencies come out (and a lot of people quite critical about her choices). She's driven and single-minded, sometimes to a degree that's not particularly considerate to the people around her. She can be self-absorbed and dismissive of other people's concerns and needs. But she's compassionate and kind, and she's so passionate about this because of how much she cares about others. She just gets so focused.
Huh. Kind of makes me wonder what it would look like, if Nancy did have a Dark Phoenix type plot. What it would involve, and how she'd come back from that.
But I digress.
So. A ST Emma Frost. That's an interesting thought. Emma relates to Scott on a very specific wavelength that we haven't really seen on ST yet--but that could be very interesting. She definitely does take advantage of him, in the beginning, but I consider a lot of that kind of bad writing (and again some of Morrison's personal weirdness about women), so I tend to overlook it. (That entire plotline was… not anyone's finest moment, mostly because it was executed very badly.)
I could go for that Argyle-as-Emma argument, honestly (and I was sort of thinking it myself, when you asked about Emma). He's ride-or-die for Jonathan, is easily underestimated but actually wildly fucking clever and observant (and he's probably somewhat aware of how people see him, tbh), fully supports Jonathan as he is but isn't a yes man, and if we're looking at fanon, we've got people claiming that he brings out Jonathan's less savory tendencies (the pot and "pulling him away from his responsibilities and family,' which I put in quotes because obviously I don't agree and think that's bullshit for numerous reasons) and makes him worse. Which is how a lot of people feel about Emma, both in-universe and IRL--that she brought him to the dark side and made him worse. (I disagree. Strongly.) Meanwhile, she's basically his biggest fan and fiercely in love with him. Like, NO ONE roots for Scott Summers harder than Emma Frost. At least before Bendis got in there. So if we're looking for parallels, yeah, I think Argyle is a fair one. Jonathan would sequester and compartmentalize a piece of Void in his head for Argyle, and Argyle would probably follow Jonathan anywhere.
