"You were looking at him". FP yelled at you while you pushed the front door open going outside. "No I wasn't, I looked around the room to see if I could find Y/F/N, he was just sitting there with his friends and we saw each other nothing else was going on". You huffed, running your hand through your hair. "Don't lie to me". He slurred his words as he forcefully grabbed you by the arm, making you whimper. He quickly let go of you, realizing what he just done. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry". He kept repeating. "I'm going to call Jughead to come get you". Speaking sternly you pulled out your phone calling Jughead, he picked up the phone, telling you he'd be there in five. Jughead arrived with Sweet Pea and Fangs. They looked at you and then at FP who was passed out on his bike. "What happened"? Jughead nodded to Pea and Fangs to get FP and put him in the truck. "He accused me of flirting with a "younger" ex-boyfriend". You air quoted younger. "He still on about the younger thing"? Jughead chuckled. "Yeah, I don't see why he can't get over it, I love him not any other guy out there young or old". "Well thats what you get when you date someone his age, they're jealous and always jumping to you're cheating with someone younger than them". "I know, but we've been together for five years". "I think mostly it is his drinking, he's been doing a lot of that lately". "He downed a half a bottle of Jack with five beers, well that was when I was with him, he probably tossed back more when he got mad". "Yeah, I'll get him home and get some coffee in him". "Hey, Jug"? "Yeah"? "Thanks and don't be hard on him". "Maybe that's what he needs to kick this". He walked off, getting into the truck driving off.

Morning came, blinding FP as he rolled over, falling off the couch trying to close the blinds. "Good morning sunshine". Jughead spoke loudly from the kitchen. Jugheads voice echoed in FP's head like a hammer banging on metal, making him groan from the pain. "Can you shut the hell up"? "This is what you get". Jughead came into the living room with a cup of coffee. "How much did you drink last night"? "That's none of your business". "It is, when Y/N calls me to come get you at two am". "Y/N, did she get home"? "Yeah". "Do you remember anything from last night"? FP shook he head, he blacked out. "Y/N called, telling me to come get you and when I got there you were already passed out, Sweet Pea and Fangs had to carry you to the truck". "She said you drank a lot". "They know about this"? FP ran his hands down his face. "I couldn't carry you alone, so yeah they know and they're worried". "There is nothing to worry about". He took a sip of his coffee. "Since you got out you've been drinking non-stop, what's going on"? Fp heard the worry in his sons voice but anger took over. "What's going on, where have you been Jughead"? "I have the whole town after the Serpents, I have you to worry about and I have to worry about Y/N sneaking off with some young douche bag". "For one you don't have to worry about me, we will all work together on bringing the town around to liking us and Y/N she would never cheat". FP got in Jugheads face, looking him up and down. "How do you know that, you sleeping with her"? Jughead gasped with laughter. "You can't be serious, she's like a step mom to me". "When you went away she stepped up and took care of me, the Serpents, made sure Tall Boy was doing things that you would agree with and she stayed faithful to you the whole time". "You're just being a dumb drunk". "You're right, I should know better". "It's the alcohol talking and thinking, you need to stop before you loose everything". "You know, you're a great son"? FP pulled Jughead into a hug. "You need to make it right with Y/N, I don't want us to loose her because of your drinking and insecurities". Jughead made sure he pushed that in his head. "I know son, I'm going to go talk to her now". FP went to get his jacket but Jughead grabbed his arm. "You may want to take a shower, you stink...horribly". Jughead laugh, making FP nod his head and chuckle.

After a long sobering shower, FP rode to Y/N's house. On the way there he thought about everything she has done for the club and for his family. FP pulled up in your front yard. You heard him cut his bike off and his foot steps on the porch before he could knock you opened the door with a look of worry. "You shouldn't be driving". You said as you opened the screen door letting him in. "I'm sober now". "Thanks to you and Jughead". He sat down on the couch. "So what do you have to say for yourself Mr. Jones"? He knew you were pissed when you called him by his last name. "I'm sorry that I did that to you, I shouldn't have drank so much". "FP, you scared me". "I know, I'm sorry I worried you". "Yes I was worried but you scared me and you hurt me...physically". Wiping away a stray tear, you looked at FP his face was white as a ghost and he had the look of fear in his eyes. "What are you talking about"? "You don't remember"? FP shook his head. "When we were arguing you grabbed my arm and squeezed hard". You lifted up your sleeve to show him his finger prints that bruised your arm. "What have I done"? He quickly got up, taking your arm gently, running his trembling fingers over his destruction. "I'm so sorry baby, I'm so sorry". He kept repeating. "I know, you have to get help, please for Jughead and I please". You pleaded. "I will, I promise, no more drinking". He kissed your bruises. "Will you ever forgive me"? He looked you in the eyes. You knew he was sincere and even though he doesn't remember it, you know that he will always beat himself up just knowing he laid a finger on you. "Yes but this will never ever happen again, if it does we are over, I will not take this from you because I know you are better than this". "You will fight it and we move on". "I promise on my life that I will never hurt you again, I will get help for my problems and I will make up for this every single day". He leaned his head on yours. "I love you and I'm sorry that I let my drinking and insecurities get in the way of your love for me". "Thank you FP, I love you too and you don't ever have to worry about me going off and finding a younger guy they're to much to handle and I can barely handle you sometimes". You winked at him as he smiled.

Alice walked in, followed by Chic. There was a third person--a man, and while Betty did not know him, she could make an educated guess. He was tall, trim, he wore dark jeans, a Serpent jacket, and he definitely had a striking similarity in face and features as Jughead.

This was, she concluded, FP Jones. And as he strode into the kitchen, he looked at no one except his son. He was not there to make friends.

Jughead gave a start, surprised that his father had shown up. “Dad, what are you doing here?”

“I came to pick you up,” FP said firmly. “I will tell you everything I know, but Betty and her family need to talk alone.“

As her name fell from his lips, everything changed.
