Daichi describing how he feels about each of the World Reps in a few words.
Daichi about Amaterasu: She seems mostly okay, but she still responsible for the birth of the most evil and worst transient in history. *glares at Daikoku*
Daichi about Yoritomo: Looks like another guy with brother issues and even worse, he’s a politician.
Daichi about Korpokkur: Creepy ass kid.
Daichi about Fuxi: Sociopathic creepy incest dragon. I despise everything about him.
Daichi about Shiva: OP Tsundere. It’s like dealing with another version of Aizen. I get headaches when he’s around.
Daichi about Teda: Kind of creepy. Mostly avoid him at all cost especially if he starts glowing.
Daichi about Temujin: Annoying, creepy, scummy, and a bastard. I will neutered him when I get the chance.
Daichi about Smokey God: Probably the only World Rep that actually gives a damn about my health and not trying to ruin my life because they’re obsessed with me. Yes, he did attack me, but it was only once so I’ll let it slide.
Daichi about Perun: A bastard, a bully, and just a plain douchebag. I hate him, so so much.
Daichi about Surtr: Eh, just a dad doing his best. He’s fine.
Daichi about Azathoth: Avoid unless something serious happens.
Daichi about Balor: Gramps okay.
Daichi about Marduk: Weak, pathetic, and little sad to look at. I’m mostly friend with him out of pity. I can see why he is considered the weakest of the World Rep.
Daichi about Tezcatlipoca: Annoying battle hunger maniac that never shuts the hell up. The main source of my constant headaches.
Daichi about Michael: Egoistical brat that needs a beating. Probably has daddy issues because Shaytan was the favorite child or something.
Daichi about Horus: Another battle maniac that won’t leave me alone and is always trying to kill me. Doesn’t help that he’s a cop, so that another nightmare to deal with every time I go outside.
Daichi about Mephistopheles: Mysterious and unnerving.
Daichi about Tangaroa∞: He looks like Tangaroa’s and Dagon’s love child. Also he’s another annoying World Rep to deal with.
Daichi about Wakan∞: Well at least he’s more interesting than the boring Himbo version of him.

[𝕊𝕜𝕖𝕥𝕔𝕙 𝔻𝕦𝕞𝕡 𝕗𝕣𝕠𝕞 ✨2020✨]
Hey everyone! Here are some of the sketches I've done during 2020 and there's like a whole TON of them so I might be doing a second part of this (◖⚆ᴥ⚆◗)💦💦 These were done in very early months of 2020 and you could tell how much my style has changed and improved so these might have some anatomical error and bad photo quality since my phone is absolute shit
On to the pieces!✨✨
[A/N:This is going to be a lengthy post so feel free to just dash through and see the pics lolol]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was my very first time drawing Seth on paper and BOY was it hard for me that time to continuously look at his sprite and drawing down his fur patterns- Overall I loved how cleaned I did him despite it being my first go and most of the times characters I draw for the first time ended up looking disheveled looking creatures (my hands were trembling thus the line art is wobbly as fuck) Not sure what I was going for via story but maybe Summoner-chan wanted to give him a scarf(? In the camera shot after he bonked her head with his fist lolol)
Tumblr media
This one was literally on the same paper as the Seth one but it was on the back of it (I like reusing paper) and hOHO was it anatomically incorrect because if Summoner-chan were to stand up and not hunch over, she'd be the same height as Toji (she's 159cm or 5'3ft) whom I'm expecting to be at least 170cm+ or 5'6ft so yep. Anatomy errors at it's best✨
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These were done via the art challenge me and my friend(s) did! The first one was in Amino and the second one was with bestie uwu✨ First time drawing Fenrir and babey smol Leib which were a lot of fun to do!! Though had some trouble with Fenrir along the way 💦💦
For the other piece, this was from how another friend of mine showed interest in Temujin (I posted his picture in my status and said how he wanted to MC to bear his children and she took a screenshot of the said status and legit said 'I wouldn't mind ❤️') and BFF said "I know you're possessive over your husband, go and draw you, [Friend's name] and Temujin in this" and sent me this pose of one person wielding a bat while having another person holding them back by the forearm and a figure crouching on the floor screaming. Absolute MOOD and you can tell who's who ╮(. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)╭ (Also what Temujin is saying 'Companion, no-' if you guys weren't able to read it clearly)
❌[𝘚𝘓𝘐𝘎𝘏𝘛 𝘕𝘚𝘍𝘞 𝘗𝘐𝘌𝘊𝘌 𝘋𝘖𝘞𝘕 𝘉𝘌𝘓𝘖𝘞]❌
Tumblr media
No words for this one but second time drawing Ophion and it turned out a bit more better than the first one (which was really cursed to look at-💦) Again, this was from the art challenge I did with bestie and the prompt was 'Bath Time with Lover' sjjshdhdhdhhfhfbfbfbbfgfb-
Tumblr media
Tried to do one of those fake IG posting and as you can see I did really terrible with it- Didn't had a clue on what Gabriel's IG ID would be so I just went with something simple✨ It's Summoner-chan finally in another hairstyle other than the high ponytail skskskskksl but in my opinion, she looked weird in any other hairstyle that isn't her usual one (maybe it's just me djhdbdbdbd)
I hope that everyone enjoyed seeing this and stay tuned for part 2!! Because Tumblr is wack on the photo limit of 10 only sjjdjdjdn-💦💦 Summoner-chan, signing off!✨

You never specified a number so I went CRAZY-
If you wanted something fucking fluffy tho, feel free to send another message!
But I give you two prompts for the price of one UwU
TW: violence; mentions of blood; the start of a panic attack; mentions of broken bones; psychotic behavior (Perun)
#5. Reassuring Squeeze
#4. The last time
Your chest trembles, the weight of the situation finally crushing down onto you as you realize there’s no way out of this. You can hear the pained cries of your friends- the frantic yelling as they’re rounded up and placed in… You can’t see much through the crack in the wall, but you’re more than positive it’s an amphitheater. Or at least similar to one: it sits deep in the earth, the seats that descend into it are curved into a long arch, all of them pointing to a middle that’s white marble- a stark contrast to the burning smoke and charred remains of buildings and people that surrounded. You can see your friends and almost friends being placed in seats, all bound in chains and all of them looking exhausted. Some continue to struggle even as they’re dragged out- but a sudden slam of the head against the marble usually cuts the struggling in it’s steps.
Your eyes strain to look at your Summoners- all of them having been treated to the same process: you note that Kengo still hasn’t moved, a red splotch on his temple where he got struck by Temujin. Toji's head keeps tipping back and forth (you would be grateful to Sanat that he had kept his strength in check, but your chest is burning hot with anger and desperation- you have no forgiveness in you).
You can feel your eyes burn as you lean back on your calves, the soreness of your knees lost on you as a broiling guilt sits heavily at the bottom of your stomach. Your nails dig into your thighs. You feel sick- your mind feels hazy, muddled, as everything begins to spin. Each breath you take gets shallower each breath you suck in. Your chest is hurting-
“(Y/N)-” it takes you a moment, but you look up, still trying to control your breathing. Shinya is shuffling closer to you, Cupid on his shoulder looking worse for wear (an oddly clear side of your mind is surprised that they let him keep him with him. Some fucked up power move, you’re sure); the tiny angel stares at you with big eyes, Shinya holding him back with a bruised hand as he moves to hop to you- “Is- is it ok to touch you?”
You can see the way his shoulders tremble, how red his eyes are. He’s as bad as you. You nod your head- your hands reaching out to him.
He takes you in his arms, his touch so light that you feel like glass. Maybe you’re as fragile as glass right now- because you feel yourself melt into his chest and the tears you were fighting back so hard before slipping down your cheeks. You can feel Cupid slip down Shinya’s shoulders to rest in the crook of your neck- so close you can hear the unnatural creak to his wings and suddenly you know why they let Shinya keep Cupid.
Your heart throbs as you feel his chest tremble and Cupid nestle further into your neck, his tiny hands grasping for the strands of your hair, a wet patch grows against your neck where Cupid has his face buried against. You bring a shaking fingers up to cradle Cupid's body, as gently as you can muster (he cooes at the contact), as your other hand comes to rub against Shinya’s back. “It’s alright,” you croak. “It’ll be alright.”
Shinya hums, forced and uneven, as he pulls away from you and laces his fingers with yours. You feel a pang of worry when you notice that he can’t curl his ring and middle finger, they sit at an odd angle and a black bruise that spans from the tip of his fingers to the middle of his palm. “You’re always so strong-” he squeezes your hand (at least to the best of his abilities) and rests his forehead against yours- “always so brave no matter what. It’s one of the things I love about you.”
Cupid’s hair tickles you as he nods his head, nuzzling against your cheek. “No,” you say, breathless with a giggle. “I’m not brave at all- just stubborn.”
“Braveness comes in all shapes and sizes, my Darling.”
You giggle again, pressing yourself closer to him as he untangles your fingers and instead wraps his arms around you. Cupid slips from his home beside your neck to wedge himself between your’s and Shinya’s chests (minding his wings). The three of you rest like that, basking in the contact with each other despite the overwhelming ache that throbs in your heart for your friends. You note that the sounds of struggling have died down; you raise your head, Shinya’s hands resting on your waist and Cupid crawling back up to sit on his shoulder. You move to look back out the crack in the wall when the sound of scraping metal startles your attention to the heavy metal door that sits on the far side of the room.
You move back to Shinya, putting your body between him and the little angel that glares at said door from his shoulder. You feel him grasp your hand, squeezing with what strength he has left. You can feel your palm grow clammy with sweat as the door swings open with a sombre groan.
Perun’s heavy footsteps echo through the otherwise silent room. You glare up at him, the grin on his face ugly and sadistic. “Hello, little bird.” He kneels down in front of you making a gesture that one would make at a scared dog to get them to come to them. “I hope you’re comfortable- you are at the peak of luxury here after all.” It’s mocking how he says it: sarcastic and demeaning.
You don’t say anything instead choosing to continue glaring at him.
“Ah? Going to give me the silent treatment?” He lets out a long sigh, leaning back on his haunches as he lets his eyes drift around the room, an easy smile on his lips. You felt tense as you waited for him to make a move. His eyes drift back to you, the corners of his eyes crinkle and the creak of worn leather reaches your ears before a white pain bursts against your cheek and a thundering crack bounces off the concrete walls of the room.
You barely feel the way your head collides with the floor, Shinya’s voice muffled as he cries your name. His grip slips from your hand as you’re suddenly hoisted up by your hair- you’re almost afraid you’re going to be scalped, the pain is so searing. You feel tears wet the corners of your eyes as your head is wrenched back, your neck bending at an awkward angle making it hard to breath. You feel his breath ghost against your cheek. “You better watch yourself or your two little angels over there won’t have a happy ending.”
A sharp yelp and a panicked chirp catches your attention and you can see Temujin sitting on top of Shinya, knee pressed against the middle of his back as he pulls Shinya’s arm at a painful angle, his eyes murderous as he focuses on the struggling man beneath him. Volkv has Cupid in a tight hold in his fist, squeezing too tightly and causing the tiny cherub to let out painful chirps.
“N-no! Don’t!” You choke, struggling to orient yourself enough to push towards the two. Your vision bursts with colors as you pinch nerves in your neck.
“Shh, shh-” Perun hushes, his free hand moves to caress your check, the rough leather hurts your raw skin. “Don’t cry, don’t cry- You can’t look weak in front of your soldiers down there- now can you?”
You let out a pained wheeze as his tilts your head back further.
“Well?”
“I wouldn’t cry in front of you anyways.” It’s broken but you hold a satisfaction for the pure venom that bleeds into the words.
Perun laughs, nuzzling his head against the side of your neck. You feel sick. “Good, good-” you let out a ragged breath as he finally lets go of your hair, your head falling viscously forward- “you’ve alway been such a good pet, haven’t you? Just for me.”
You glare up at him again, though now you're seeing two of him. He grabs the back of your neck, dragging you up to your unsteady legs.
“Temujin. Volkv. Let go of those two would you?”
You breathe a sigh of relief as Temujin and Volkv both let go of Shinya and Cupid (Volkv having tossed Cupid onto Shinya’s back).
Perun’s other hand quickly latched onto your arm and twisted it behind your back, the bones creak painfully. You hiss and he digs his chin into your shoulder, his teeth brushing against the skin of your neck. You grimace- you felt dirty. “This is all your fault you know?’ He whispers, grip tightening on your arm. “I have to reset the loops- I have to fix them, you know? If only you had done right in the beginning. None of this would be happening.” He’s dragging you out of the room as he continues to speak, you kick your legs, your heels catching on the pavement of the floor.
You watch as Shinya lunges towards you just to be caught by Temujin and Volkv and dragged back. You’ve never seen him struggle so much- never heard him raise his voice so much. You feel heart breaking as the door shuts on him with a resounding clang as you cling to the last bit of warmth from him against your palm. Trying to pretend that the overbearing warmth against your back is Shinya.

Podcasts in review
Simple and nice list of all the podcasts I discovered in 2020. I had to go to the office alone during quarantine, don’t @ me. So, let’s start with fiction.
- numbers in brackets the number of episodes listened and existing, not rating - * indicate currently ongoing productions - cursive is for the cool kids
Friends at the table (a lot/a lot)
Hands down, the best actual play podcast out there. It rarely happens that an improvised TTRPG would end up creating a world that is as rich and engaging as the Divine universe. Also Austin Walker is my second philosophy teacher (first was Detective Pony).
Tomorrow the void (8/8) Quantum entanglement runs in the family. Moody. Sad mad old men. Includes a robot ball.
This planet needs a name (5/5) * The most heartwarming post-apocalyptic tale, a rare sci-fi with a soul. Instills the desire to grab coffee with all the 7 characters after the prologue. Hopeful, mindful, soothingly slow paced. The new world will be better if we try.
Lighthearts (4/4) * A new queer community space is learning to cope with ghosts and new ways to connect people. Just all around warm and nice. From the same people who do This Planet Needs a Name.
Murmurs (10/10) A very well produced (from BBC, duh) loose anthology (separate stories loosely connected to each other). An art house movie in audio form. Episode second includes an extremely touching love story and an instance of fucking a ghost.
The tower (7/7) It's Celeste. Climbing the tower to face the challenge and free yourself from the human condition for a while. It's not literally Celeste, but you know.
Middle below (10/10) A nervous ghost whisperer has one friend. The tag line of the show is "bad things will happen", and which has been an anxiety reliever and a call to action.
Folxlore (3/3) Short horror stories from, by, about and for queer people from Scotland. The last one about pregnancy really hurted.
Dungeon economic model (10/10) Less than 5 minute vignettes about why you should invest in dungeons. Some nice background worldbuilding.
London necropolis railway (7/7) Ghouls and humans learn the true value of friendship and acceptance and defiance.
The vanishing act (2/?) The promise of urban fantasy set in the 1930s Berlin underground culture, despite its magnificent appeal, is dwarfed by how annoying the MC is. He's the not funny type of an asshole - dumb, mean to his friends, hates women, utterly insufferable (and I can tolerate a lot of mediocre audio fiction). The production quality is top notch though.
Station Arcadia (3/?) They are trying, and it's admirable. Would really benefit from a link to the map.
Midst (19/19) Fantasy story set in the world where the accounting is worshipped as a religion, following three protagonists, and told by three narrators - simultaneously, which had proven to be an incredibly fun technique. Worth a listen to at least check it out.
Null/void (9/?) * Anti-capitalist digital goddess preventing the marketing stunts of a malicious company. Way less cool than it sounds.
Circles (4/4) Beth Eyre is great. The rest of the story (even though it has demons) - eh.
Forgive me (4/4) * Sitcom in the form of confessional testimonies of people revealing their sins to a pastor, who himself is running from something. Yes. Surprisingly well made.
Next stop (10/10) Sitcom about three wacky millennials. More energetic than endearing.
Less is Morgue (5/?) * Sitcom about a ghoul and a ghost with an annoying voice.
Me & AU (11/11) * Turns out, love can blossom on the battlefield of fandom shipping.
Old gods of Appalachia (12.5/12.5) * Good spooky stories with impeccable atmosphere that are hard to follow for me, for some reason.
Temujin (5/5) A small, tidy and inscrutable audio drama depicting Genghis Khan's origin story. I have not read The Secret History of Mongols, but I doubt it's that accurate to the text.
Godshead Incidental (4/4) * There is a girl who tries to live in the world after her sister's disappearance. There are gods. There is an endearing fixer/private consultant with some family drama. Looks to be a very promising show about getting to terms with your trauma set in a fun world with fun characters. Updating slowly, but surely.
Left Right Game (10/10) Audio adaptation of a serialized story on r/nosleep. High production values, alluring mysterious world, characters that exist only to be killed off every episode.
Valence (12/12) MC with a special depression inner voice learns to meet new people, overcome trauma, find love, fight capitalism. Would not call the world or the characters particularly interesting, despite most of them being magic users.
Unseen (5/?) A new anthology about magic from Wolf 359 people. One can listen to them say "are you watching closely" only so many times.
Whirlwind for hire (4/?) Musicals are very ambitious undertakings, by default. This one has immortals, gods, nature spirits? Good for them.
Fall of the house of sunshine (8/a lot) Podcast musical about a murder on a children’s tv show, accordingly fast-paced. A ton of tiny wacky details about the world of teeth and its pearly truth (and more!). The only even remotely sympathetic story was left to the antagonist.
Mockery Manor (6/?) * An old amusement park, twins, family secrets. Even features a tiger! Not as cool as its premises promises.
Brimstone Valley Mall (10/10) A band of lovable misfit demons trying to survive the reckoning from their dead end jobs.
In Strange Woods (3/?) A musical that is unfortunately structured as a true crime. Features Patrick Page from Hadestown, so any and all faults are immediately forgiven.
The Cipher (2/8) Textbook YA about a 16 girl that revels a bit too much in the pain it causes her. At first you think “oh, poc representation”, but it’s just so she can be an orphan chosen one.
Non fiction
Into the Zone (8/8) An actually thought provoking and well crafted podcast. By pitting “opposites” against each other, valuable philosophical and sociological ideas reveal themselves in the space in between.
HiPhi nation Real life alarming and amazing stories used to broach philosophical subjects. Sometimes veers into “we need more female drone pilots”, but for the most part interesting.
How to save a planet Literally, how people survive catastrophes individually and communally - and how should you.

THE FINAL MEETING OF TEMUJIN AND JAMUKHA, 1205/1206
The Mongolian warlord Temujin, known later as Chinggis Khan, had a long and troubled career before he was able to unify the Mongol tribes in 1206 and declare the Mongol Empire. Perhaps his most noteworthy opponent of this long career was his blood brother (anda) turned enemy, Jamukha, a fellow Mongol (of different clan). Becoming sworn friends in their childhoods, Jamukha assisted in the rescue of Temujin's wife Borte from the Merkit tribe (ca. 1180) and for a year and a half Temujin spent a blissful time in his friend's entourage. What exactly broke them apart is not quite clear. The main source, the Secret History of the Mongols, has Borte urge Temujin to flee Jamukha when the latter deliver a riddle seemingly hiding an insult to Temujin, or at least to his followers. Telling Temujin that Jamukha soon tired of his friends, it was best to leave while they still could. While that did not lead to war between them, a number of Jamukha's followers abandoned him for Temujin in the aftermath, and elected him Khan of the Borjigon Mongols, which may have stressed the relationship. What pushed things over the edge was the death of Jamukha's younger brother (or cousin) Taichar at the hands of one of Temujin's herders while trying to steal horses, which Jamukha saw as a declaration of war. Thus he mobilized the forces at his command and attacked, routing Temujin at the battle of Dalan Baljut (ca. 1186/7).
The two struggled for the remainder of the 12th century, and in 1201 a coalition of tribes even elected Jamukha Gur-Khan, 'universal ruler,' to combat Temujin's rising power. Temujin narrowly avoided utter ruin in 1203 when Jamukha and his allied forces overcame him, but Temujin bounced back and in the next three years effectively overran the opposition: the battle of Naqu Cliffs in 1204 essentially destroyed the final chance they had to defeat Temujin and determined Mongolia's future. Jamukha abandoned the coalition just before the battle, and spent the next year on the run, his followers steadily deserting him for Temujin until his final companions betrayed him, and handed him over.
For their treachery, Temujin had them executed, and sat down with Jamukha for the final time. In an emotional, dramatic scene from the Secret History of the Mongols, Temujin pleads Jamukha to rejoin him once more, but Jamukha declines.
"You have pacified all our peoples
you have unified all other peoples,
and the qan's throne has been assigned to you. Now that the world is at your disposal, of what use would I be as a companion to you? On the contrary, O my sworn friend,
I would intrude into your dreams in the dark night,
I would trouble your heart in the bright day,
I would be a louse in your collar,
I would be a thorn in the inner lapel of your coat.
I had many paternal grandmothers. When I became disloyal to my sworn friend I made a mistake. Now, in this life - that of the sworn friend and me- my fame has indeed passed from sunrise to sunset. You, sworn friend, had a wise mother. You were born a hero, and you had younger brothers, valiant companions and seventy-three geldings, you, my sworn friend, excelled me. As for me, I lost my parents when I was small and had no younger brothers. My wife is a prattler, my companions untrustworthy. because of this I was excelled by my sworn friend, whose destiny was ordained by Heaven. If you want to show favour to me, let me die swiftly and your heart will be at rest. And if you condescend to have me put to death, let them kill me without shedding blood. When I lie dead, my bones buried in a high place, for ever and ever I shall protect you and be a blessing to the offspring of your offspring."
-The Secret History of the Mongols, de Rachewiltz translation, section 201, page 124
Temujin followed his friend's wishes, and the next year (1206) declared the Mongol Empire, taking a new title: Chinggis Khan.

For the week of 25 February 2019
Quick Bits:
Action Comics #1008 continues “Leviathan Rising” from Brian Michael Bendis, Steve Epting, Brad Anderson, and Josh Reed as the DEO is the next organization to be taken out. Great art from Epting and Anderson as the intrigue continues to unfold .
| Published by DC Comics
Tumblr media
Amazing Spider-Man #16 gives us a prelude to “Hunted”. The mix of Nick Spencer’s humour with the subject matter of Kraven setting up an animal villain hunting network feels a little weird, but I want to see where he’s going with this.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
Avengers: No Road Home #3 adds new wrinkles to the tale as we find out that Nyx’s quest has affected Nightmare while another bunch of the Avengers search for a shard of her power. Love the narration and spotlight on Rocket Raccoon this issue. Great work all around from Al Ewing, Jim Zub, Mark Waid, Paco Medina, Juan Vlasco, Jesus Aburtov, and Cory Petit.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
Batgirl #32 concludes “Old Enemies” as Batgirl and Jason Bard reluctantly team-up to stop Cormorant. It doesn’t go as well as you’d hope, with Mairghread Scott leaving a lot of questions for future issues and setting up a continued rivalry. The levels of intrigue through the story are very compelling.
| Published by DC Comics
Tumblr media
Betty & Veronica #3 continues the conflict between Betty and Veronica over a misunderstanding. It’s interesting as to how these things come about simply through a lack of communication and willingness to discuss the problems between two friends. Jamie Lee Rotante, Sandra Lanz, Kelly Fitzpatrick, and Jack Morelli capture the high school drama very well.
| Published by Archie
Tumblr media
Black Hammer: Age of Doom #8 sees the return of Dean Ormston to begin a new arc on a strange new world. Like the revelation before of where the heroes were, this is another big change as we follow Lucy Weber in a relatively “normal” world.
| Published by Dark Horse
Tumblr media
Buffy the Vampire Slayer #2 sets another high water mark for this rebooted series, capturing the spirit and essence of the original, but updating it for current audiences. The reintroduction of Spike, Drucilla, and Cordelia are great, especially the characterization that Jordie Bellaire gives her. She’s not presented here as a catty mean girl and I think it will lead to a more nuanced, interesting conflict between her and the Scooby Gang in the beginning. Also, the art from Dan Mora and Raúl Angulo is perfect. Seriously perfect.
| Published by BOOM! Studios
Tumblr media
Captain America #8 continues this trend of Adam Kubert delivering some of the best art of his career. Kubert has always been a good to great artist, providing memorable work with Wolverine, Uncanny X-Men, and The Incredible Hulk, but in recent years he seems to have given a concerted effort to top his own already high bar of quality. The visual storytelling, panel compositions, layouts and transitions through this issue are phenomenal. Thoroughly gorgeous artwork from Kubert with colours by Frank Martin.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
Crimson Lotus #4 twists the tale again with a bit of misdirection and a demon monkey with a revolver. I think more stories need demon monkeys with guns. John Arcudi, Mindy Lee, Michelle Madsen, and Clem Robins up the stakes heading into the conclusion.
| Published by Dark Horse
Tumblr media
Daredevil #2 is incredible. Chip Zdarsky, Marco Checchetto, Sunny Gho, and Clayton Cowles seem to be shooting for a masterpiece with “Know Fear” and it’s shaping up very well so far. Gorgeous artwork, coupled with an intriguing mystery, this really isn’t something that should be missed.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
Detective Comics #999 concludes “Mythology” and it basically convinces me that Batman is completely batshit insane at this point. I’m not sure if that was supposed to be my takeaway or not, but it seems to be the most logical conclusion to “Bruce tries to kill himself every year”.
| Published by DC Comics
Tumblr media
Fantastic Four #7 continues Doom vs. Galactus. The artwork from Aaron Kuder, John Lucas, Marte Gracia, and Rachelle Rosenberg is incredible. There’s a very nice epic scope to the action.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
Fight Club 3 #2 is incredibly inventive. There are quite a few moving pieces that aren’t exactly wholly explained, but it’s amazing as to just how much information is really in the art, with this issue giving more context to what was happening last issue pretty much right in front of us, and I suspect the following issue will likewise better inform this one. This kind of recursive storytelling really fits the fractured mindset of “Balthazar”. Also, the art is insanely good, with very unique application of mirrored concepts and a frame that acts as a portal to somewhere else. Chuck Palahniuk, Cameron Stewart, Dave McCaig, and Nate Piekos are really creating something special here.

Tumblr media
The Flash #65 concludes “The Price” crossover with Batman from Joshua Williamson, Rafa Sandoval, Jordi Tarragona, Tomeu Morey, and Steve Wands. Spinning out of Heroes in Crisis, it’s a dark conclusion, leaving the heroes kind of beaten down despite a “victory” and Flash’s world more or less in shambles. With an epilogue hinting at worse down the road with “Year of the Villain”, while this is interesting now, I’m not sure how much of a repeat of bleak futures where heroes distrust heroes and everyone loses I can handle. That said, “The Price” itself has been an entertaining arc with some heavy development between Flash and Batman and another important puzzle piece in what’s going on in regards to whoever’s working to bring Batman, and likely every superhero, down. With some phenomenal art from Sandoval, Tarragona, and Morey.

The Forgotten Queen #1 begins a mini-series focusing on the villain War-Monger, fleshing out her backstory as an unwitting marine archaeological salvage crew search for her, from Tini Howard, Amilcar Pinna, Ulises Arreola, and Jeff Powell. You needn’t know anything about War Monger’s, now Vexana, previous appearances before as this can pretty much be enjoyed on its own and seems to be acting as a way to really build her up into something greater. To that degree, this is a great start. Compelling stories both in the present and the past, showcasing Vexana seducing Temujin, with very nice art from Pinna and Arreola.

Freedom Fighters #3 pushes hard the plot point that in order to truly help America rise again and fight back against the Nazi occupation is to give the people hope and have them believing in Uncle Sam again. It’s a quaint idea and I love that Robert Venditti tackles the approach from both angles amongst the Freedom Fighters in regards to application of their efforts. Also, again, the artwork from Eddy Barrows, Eber Ferreira, and Adriano Lucas is stunning.
| Published by DC Comics
Tumblr media
Hardcore #3 pushes the narrative further over a cliff to the point where Drake is now essentially falling, trying just to survive, as everything pretty much explodes. The action in this series is palpable as Andy Diggle, Alessandro Vitti, Adriano Lucas, and Thomas Mauer seem hellbent on making this as exciting a thrill ride as possible.

Hellboy and the BPRD: 1956 #4 is a bit of a turning point with Bruttenholm suffering a loss, the set-up for what happened to Varvara in the intervening years between her early days and the present, and what prompted Bruttenholm to drag back Hellboy. I really quite like Mike Norton’s take on Varvara.
| Published by Dark Horse
Tumblr media
Ice Cream Man #10 is part two of “Hopscotch Mélange” and this strange reveal of the history of the Ice Cream Man and his brother the Cowboy. This one gives us a tragic love story, partially in Spanish.
| Published by Image
Tumblr media
Invaders #2 deepens the mystery of Namor’s motivating factors and his apparent secret history with Professor Xavier. Carlos Magno handling present day scenes and Butch Guice the past works very well for the storytelling. It gives the flashbacks a dark, gritty feel that separates it from the current day.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
Justice League Odyssey #6 sees Dan Abnett take over writing duties, joining Carmine Di Giandomenico, Ivan Plascencia, and Andworld Design as the stakes in the Ghost Sector are raised a bit. Among the chaos of this area of space and the repercussions of Darkseid’s designs, there’s a nice character moment between Jessica and Cyborg.
| Published by DC Comics
Tumblr media
Martian Manhunter #3 dives into J’onn’s arrival on Earth and how he became John Jones from Steve Orlando, Riley Rossmo, Ivan Plascencia, and Deron Bennett. While I’m riveted by the overall story, the art from Rossmo and Plascencia continues to be thrilling. Amazing layouts, character designs, panel compositions, and an almost psychedelic approach to the colours elevate this story so much.
| Published by DC Comics
Tumblr media
Marvel Comics Presents #2 is still an oddball little anthology, with the serial Wolverine lead and this time a Fantastic Four and a Gorilla-Man back-up. On the one hand, it deals with time and the past, which is a key theme in the Wolverine story and a byproduct of the nature of the Fantastic Four tale, which takes place in the ‘50s. It’s kind of weird seeing something like this taking place in the actual time that it would given the original release of Fantastic Four back in the ‘60s, but Mark Waid, Djibril Morissette-Phan, Dan Brown, and Joe Caramagna give us a decent Cold War story. And then there’s the Laphams’ (with Lee Loughridge and Caramagna) Gorilla-Man story, which is good with Ken dealing with his attitude toward his gorilla spirit, but doesn’t necessarily fit that time or out of time theme.

Tumblr media
Oliver #2 delves deeper into the social structure of this world and into Oliver’s nature. Gary Whitta, Darick Robertson, Diego Rodriguez, and Simon Bowland are giving us a very interesting reimagining of Oliver Twist, with drop dead gorgeous artwork.
| Published by Image
Tumblr media
Peter Cannon: Thunderbolt #2 is brilliant. Kieron Gillen, Caspar Wijngaard, Mary Safro, and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou are creating a story here that acts as a de facto sequel to Watchmen on one hand, but is also a very clever deconstruction of that story, its structure, its characters, in order to present something unique. The little human elements of Peter and Tabu are sweet and the art is freaking awesome.

Tumblr media
Punks Not Dead: London Calling #1 is the welcome return of Sid and Fergie in this second series from David Barnett, Martin Simmonds, Dee Cunniffe, and Aditya Bidikar. It picks up pretty much right where the first book left off, and continues the pair’s quest to find Fergie’s dad while the rest of the world deals with the paranormal fallout.
| Published by IDW / Black Crown
Tumblr media
Quincredible #4 sees Glow help Quin rescue his parents, then launch into an investigation of the powers behind the escalating gang warfare. I’ve really been enjoying what Rodney Barnes, Selina Espiritu, Kelly Fitzpatrick, and Tom Napolitano have been doing on this book, with the coming-of-age tale and family drama, but this one really cinches things as it brings together the shared universe aspect of the Catalyst Prime world.
| Published by Lion Forge / Roar / Catalyst Prime
Tumblr media
Redlands #11 is somewhat disquieting as we learn more about Z’s dead friend, Jake, who is currently inhabiting Nancy’s dead body. Jordie Bellaire, Vanesa Del Rey, and Clayton Cowles are doing a wonderful job of continuing the disturbing horror elements of this series, while broadening the characters and wider plot.
| Published by Image
Tumblr media
Savage Sword of Conan #2 travels deep into Stygia as Conan and Suty search for the treasure from the map burned into Conan’s mind, while navigating through the terror unleashed by Koga Thun’s cult. While a bit more straightforward in its narrative, this tale from Gerry Duggan, Ron Garney, Richard Isanove, and Travis Lanham is holding its own against the equally excellent story unfolding in Conan the Barbarian. Like that one, this feels like Conan. It feels weighty, bloody, and dangerous with a compelling quest in front of him.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
The Silencer #14 starts a new arc from Dan Abnett, V. Ken Marion, Sandu Florea, Mike Spicer, and Tom Napolitano as Honor gets accustomed to her new old role as Leviathan’s cleaner. Great action sequences as always, plus the added benefit of Honor’s husband investigating her life since he can’t accept that she’s dead. That should add some interesting complications down the road.
| Published by DC Comics
Tumblr media
Star Trek: The Q Conflict #2 divides up the crews amongst teams for the immortals and sets them off on their first challenge, to recover an Iconian gateway device. I think this is a very interesting way for a crossover between the different eras to occur and the art from David Messina, Elisabetta D’Amico, Alessandra Alexakis, and Carola Borelli is wonderful.
| Published by IDW
Tumblr media
The Superior Spider-Man #3 concludes Ock’s battle with Terrax. This is really a wonderful showcase for the art from Mike Hawthorne, Wade von Grawbadger, and Jordie Bellaire. The action throughout the issue is very well done.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
West Coast Avengers #8 has Jeff, the land shark puppy, and that’s all you really need to know about whether or not you should buy this. Because you should. For Jeff. Do it for Jeff. Also, there’s an interesting plot regarding abductions that Noh-Varr thinks is Skrulls, but you mainly want this for Jeff. Kelly Thompson, Gang Hyuk Lim, and Joe Caramagna deliver a fun start to this next arc.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
Wonder Woman #65 concludes “The Grudge” as Wonder Woman confronts Nemesis again, gains a new understanding, and sets off on a new quest. Nice art from Jesus Merino, Andy Owens, and Romulo Fajardo Jr.
| Published by DC Comics
Tumblr media
Wyrd #2 continues this entertaining madness from Curt Pires, Antonio Fuso, Stefano Simeone, and Micah Myers, with possibly and even more out there back up from Rockwell White, Pires, Martoz, and Myers. This go around, we get the British Prime Minister getting his kit off with a pig and gaining supernatural powers. It’s dark, it’s strange, but it’s also very good.

ENMY Chapter 79 - Cloak and Dagger (Part Two)
Tumblr media
Chapter Synopsis: As Yang and Emerald discover the truth behind Remnant, the shadow of Salem’s Grimm army looms close to Vacuo. The Kingdom that has remained passive, now enters the stage of the Second Great War.
Series Synopsis: Team RWBY is disbanded, and Yang must find herself new allies. For her, that might very well be yesterday’s enemies. Joining up with the likes of Emerald, Mercury, and Neo, the four will comprise Team Enemy(ENMY).

Cloak and Dagger (Part Two)
.
“Why?”
That’s what they asked me.
It’s what I asked, too.
But when I posed myself that question, I got an answer I didn’t expect.
It’s amazing how easily it came.
I could only think:
“How could it have been anyone else?”
My only regret is that we didn’t realize our feelings sooner.
.
.
Yang closed Summer’s diary with a breathless sigh.
She just finished reading the recount of how her two mothers came to be. They were teammates, best friends… then after a time, enemies.
After Raven changed sides, there was no end to the reasons why Summer should have severed ties with her.
Even so…
“How could it have been anyone else?”
Yang echoed the words Summer spoke so long ago.
It touched on something, a crack in her heart that had been widening for months. Her mother’s words set something free. Her mind was made. Her doubts dispelled and her fate was decided. Yang wanted to return to Vacuo as soon as possible.
“We have to get back to Vacuo as soon as possible!” Emerald yelled, as she and Professor Oobleck ran into the private reading room.
“What’s up?” Yang asked.
“Mercury just sent me an encrypted text. Salem’s made her move on Vacuo.”
“Crap!”
The three made their way to the upper floors of the Tower. They ran past several piles of books, knocking them over without a second thought. It was imperative they find Papyrus.
“How bad is it?” Yang asked.
“Don’t know. Merc didn’t exactly send me pics. But apparently, it’s a gigantic army of Grimm.”
“Like, Battle of Dracul?”
“Probably bigger, MUCH bigger.”
“And Vacuo still has their Cuckoo problem.”
“Yup! Which is why, we need to haul our ass back, like, yesterday!”
“But that’ll take days!!!”
“You think I don’t know that?!”
They stopped at the top floor and spotted the record keeper furiously writing at a study table. Oobleck picked up the latest page freshly written and read it aloud.
“’Ferocious beasts bore hungry maws at what they thought was dinner! But lo’! They were caught unawares by what they thought was easy prey, was in fact an esteemed Huntsman!’”
“Is that… Professor Port?” Yang pointed curiously at the document.
“Yes, it appears Papyrus is recording the current events via Peter’s diary entries!”
“Oh! I get it! So, you guys arranged this beforehand so you could keep tabs on current events!”
“No, not at all. Peter just likes to write in his diary constantly.”
“In the middle of battle?!”
“Yes. He’s very good at keeping accounts of his exploits. I often wish I had his ability to put pen to paper, irregardless of the harrowing situation!”
“Uh…huh.”
The three started pouring over the notes Papyrus previously wrote. In it, they found bits and details between Professor Port’s grandeur embellishments, that painted a picture of the situation.
After Temujin threw the first “gauntlet”, the forces of Grimm and Vacuo clashed. Although the Kingdom’s military had never faced such a sizable host of monsters, the battle seemed to be go in their favor. Vacuo’s warriors were well-versed in dealing with the varied species of Grimm. They also demonstrated an organization that rivaled the most disciplined armies.
“Hm…” Emerald glared at the most recently recorded books. “The librarian doesn’t just record Vacuo’s side either. Take a peek,” she shoved a blank covered tome in Yang’s hands. “Inna and Bean are here, too.”
Yang skimmed through the information like a starved bibliophile.
“Bean’s commanding the armies… He wants to hunt me down… Adam’s here too… Someone named Jupiter Black? Isn’t that—”
“Mercury’s cousin and president of the douchebag assassin society.”
“This is… This is Blake’s diary.”
“Yup!” Emerald shouted, while picking up another book. “With any luck, we can figure out what the other side is planning. Meanwhile, the Professor can keep a pulse on how the battle is going.”
“But we need to get back there now!”
“One problem at a time, Yang! You said it yourself, it’ll take days to get back! We need to play the smart game here. If we find something crucial, our messages might do more help than us actually being there.”
Yang heard the reason in Emerald’s argument and agreed. But somewhere deep down, all she could worry about was Neo. She knew her partner could handle herself, but it wasn’t enough to abate her fears. The fact that they were separated by such a distance, in such a dangerous time, drove her mind to conjure things she never wanted to see.
Yang watched Emerald shuffle through another mound of papers in frustration. Her leader wasn’t as composed as her words let on. No doubt, Emerald was just as concerned about Mercury.
“As soon as we find what Salem’s planning, we’re out of here!” Emerald shouted without looking at her.
“Yeah. Yeah, alright!”
Yang dove back into the haystack of information with gusto.
Just be alright, Neo.
Please, be alright.

Neo threw her parasol into a row of Grimm, corkscrewing them all through the chest cavity. With a wave of her hand, her weapon swooped into a u-turn and flew safely back to her hands. She opened the umbrella to let out a small spray of black blood, causing her to lick her lips with a depraved look.
She gave a small inward thank you to Ruby, who made a few upgrades to her weapon.
Mercury soared above her with a number of Vacuo’s airborne fighters trailing behind. After activating his Semblance, he kicked up a sandstorm in the middle of Salem’s army. Rough debris and jagged rock wore away at the more durable species of Grimm, while lighter ones were caught up in the tornado.
Throughout the battlefield, soldiers exercised their specialized roles. If they fulfilled a long-distance position, they fought safely from the backlines. The more hands-on of the fighters took to the vanguard to face the brunt of their opposition. Some fought together, some separate. And then, there were berserkers, who traversed wildly into the chaos of being surrounded by enemies.
Chain Nai’s blue ringed skin glowed with a dark sea hue, as he clamped a Jester’s hyena mouth between his elbow and knee. The force caused the front half of the skull to cave, but it was the warrior’s poisonous Semblance that put the creature to death.
Not too far away, a shining warrior faced a unit of Moredread knights five v. one. The monsters boasted a heavily reinforced armor composed of dense bone. Their medieval style appearance added with the giant buster blade they hefted overhead, made for daunting figures. Yet the lone fighter stood, unfazed by the challenge.
When their swords fell like a waterfall of guillotines, the man bat them away like they were sheets of cardboard. The last one, he caught in a single, gold and black gloved hand.
“Compared to Qrow and Athos, you might as well be using toy swords,” Taiyang taunted.
With a flick of his wrist, the Moredread he caught the sword of, was twisted into the air. With his free hand, he loosed a soft palm strike on the Grimm’s bony helm. The Aura infused into the technique transposed through the armor and exploded within the knight’s vulnerable brain matter. Before the corpse fell and the other four Moredread could react, Taiyang was on them.
His fingers became pointed to align with his forearm. An upward thrust sent a spear-like hand under one of the Grimm’s armpits, where the armor was weakest. The ligaments connecting the Moredread’s limb tore like tissue paper.
With Taiyang’s hands still formed in a straight edge, he sent a chopping fist through the neck of two others.
The sword knight Grimm were classified as A-Class Grimm individually. But against a fighter of their complete counter and high caliber, five had fallen within mere moments.
Bean saw through the eyes of the dying Grimm and decided to take a different approach. His army was never meant to fight on even ground. They were meant to abuse their numbers andabuse their numbers he did.
The young boy directed a pack of fast moving Jesters Taiyang’s way and a Deathstalker towards his back. He didn’t expect them to win, but sap away at the martial artist’s stamina.
Just when they reached combat distance, a rain of icy shards fell on the area, including on the man himself. Though, the attack only seemed to shatter against Taiyang’s now tattooed skin.
“Huh. Will Tai take no offense to that?” Minerva asked from a fair distance.
“He’s used to it,” Glynda answered, before casting another icy hailstorm over a different area. “Is it me, or is this battle faring a little too easily?”
“I am of the same mind. Salem has yet to play any of her proverbial trump cards.”
“Our casualties are also low, not that I’m complaining.” Glynda pushed up her glasses before manipulating a small herd of stampeding Goliaths and diverting their charge into its allies. “The longer this battle goes on, the more disadvantageous our position.”
“Agreed. What do you suggest?”
“I’ve been trying to discern where the commander of this army is located.”
Another group of Grimm rushed their position, but Glynda levitated them into the air, while Minerva waved her wand to cause an explosion, incinerating them into pieces.
“Going by the way the Grimm are directed, I can only assume whoever is in control, is commanding them from there!” Glynda pointed her riding crop.
Minerva paid attention to the direction and saw a number of Grimm waiting on standby. Some would now and then, breakaway for a maneuver, but were swiftly replaced. The behavior was almost unnoticeable in all the chaos.
“So, we will have our troops advance there.”
“No,” Glynda shook her head. “There’s too much ground to cover and they’ll see us approaching almost immediately. If we can take them by surprise, we stand a chance at ending this battle prematurely.”
“…I’m not fond of the tone your suggestion is taking…”
“My Magic has a wide area of effect. If I can get close enough, I can trap them in the middle of it.”
“That is a fool’s gambit, Glynda.”
“Yes, but it’s better than waiting until Salem is ready to activate the Cuckoos.”
“…”
“There’s no other way!”
“Wait!”
Without another second, Glynda bolted for the enemy commander. She ducked and rolled between her enemies as well as her allies. Short-ranged Magic darts repelled any hostile Grimm out of her way. The Huntress made rapid progress towards her destination, but eventually, the beasts around her took notice.
They swarmed from the land and sky. Flying Preyer Mantis Grimm swept low with their scythe-like forelegs. Some of the Moredread lumbered in her direction in a joust. Glynda cast a shield around her, but it was quickly being whittled away.
If she could only make it a few more meters, she knew she could invoke a storm large enough to encompass the commander’s surroundings. She didn’t even need to live to maintain the spell to its end. Just starting the incantation would be enough. Just emptying her Aura for all its worth would be enough.
Then, she heard her barrier break and her riding crop shorted like a bad fuse. Glynda didn’t know where it broke from, there were too many possible angles. She could recast it, but by that time, it would be too late.
As a Jester pounced from behind her back, a pair of fingers thrust into its eye sockets. The hand gripped the top of its cranium and swung it into another pack of hyenas, knocking them over like bowling pins.
The man body-blocked Glynda from the attacks coming from outside her peripheries. His diamond hard skin deflected any harm and reflected the impact of others. Claws and fangs shattered on contact with the hard surface.
“This is a bit reckless for you, don’t you think?!” Taiyang shouted.
“I knew you would be there,” Glynda replied.
“Yeah, well, you know I can’t keep this up forever!”
“I know, Tai. But I also know you can keep it up for long enough.”
“It’s tough being reliable,” he said, with a smugness trying to hide the strain on his body.
“Hmhmhm!” Glynda chuckled in a slightly flirtatious way.
She refocused on the task at hand and saw the assumed Grimm commander and its escorts retreating back. But by now, it was already too late. She was well within the optimum range.
Glynda stabbed her riding crop to the sky like a divine sword. Clouds formed to her summons. A large violet insignia pulsated as the weather became shaded with a low rumble. Bright veins of light flashed within the swirling veil like outlining blood vessels.
Not another second passed before pillars of pure, electric destruction descended on Salem’s army. They traced the ground, gorging through the earth like a scroll saw. All the Grimm the light touched were instantly burned into a crisp.
Glynda was elated at the success, but stopped herself from getting too carried away. She dealt a heavy blow by conjuring the thunderstorm so deep into enemy lines, but that was not the main purpose of her stratagem. She watched the other Grimm outside the storm to see if her gamble paid off.
There was no change at first and it made her heart freeze up. But sure enough, the creatures gradually lost a sense of focus. A few breaths later and they began to scatter in retreat. Countless legs trampled and stumbled over each other, while Vacuo warriors pressed forward to slay any stragglers.
Glynda’s knees gave out, and she sat in a manner that betrayed her usual stringent demeanor.
“Wow…”
She turned a sly eye to the awestruck Taiyang.
“What are you so surprised about?” Glynda asked.
“I sometimes forget how scary you can be.”
“Really?”
“It doesn’t happen a lot, cause you know, you’re constantly reminding everyone. But times like this really drive it home.”
“I’m flattered.”
“No, you’re not.”
“You’re right. I’m not.”
“Issss this a bad time to say, I think I’m in lo—”
“Don’t finish that sentence, Tai.”
Glynda got to her feet and started making her way back to Minerva.
“Or else I’m liable to cast a second thunderstorm.”

At the top floor of the Tower, Professor Oobleck set down the latest copy of Professor Port’s diary entry with a serious look.
“It appears, thanks to some brave heroics on Glynda’s part, the battle of Vacuo has reached premature conclusions.”
Emerald breathed a groaning sigh of relief before falling on top a nearby pile of books. She even thought about taking a nap, before noticing Oobleck’s tenseness unchanged.
“…? Okay, did I miss something, or did you just say the battle was over?”
“I did,” he replied.
“So, are you one of those people with resting angry face or…”
“Salem did not appear on the battlefield, nor did any of her named associates, save the individual Glynda forced to withdraw. The majority of the opposition Vacuo waged battle with were Grimm, and not the Nightmare Class we know to have joined her fold.”
“Probably conserving them. This was only the first fight.”
“A plausible theory.”
“Yeah! So, no time to waste, Prof. We need to blow this joint, not that I don’t love the smell of old books and ancient-lost-forgotten-knowledge.”
“You don’t have to be sarcastic.”
“Who’s being sarcastic? I’d spend my whole life here if I could. Think I might ask Masa to build me one of these. But we’re on a time crunch and we’ve got a long ass drive ahead of us. Hey, punchy! That means you, too!”
Emerald strode over to Yang sitting cross-legged, and kicked her boot. Though, the kick registered, the girl seemed completely immersed in what she was reading.
“What? Find something new in your mom’s diary?”
“No… Something’s off,” Yang shook her head. “Blake, or well, Salem, keeps talking about this ‘Cloak and Dagger’ plan. She has to know we’re at this Tower, right? I mean, she didn’t see us at the battle, she’s gotta have some idea.”
“Yeah, that tracks. What are you getting at?”
“She’s probably keeping watch of whatever everyone’s putting on message, but I’ve been piecing together the clues we do have. Some texts between Bean and Jupiter Black, along with some other assassins the guy brought along.”
“And?”
“They don’t line up. The timing for their plan sounded like it was set for the battle. They kept sending updates to each other. ‘Are you in position?’, ‘Yes’, that kind of thing.”
“It could be nothing…” Emerald felt paranoia creep in. “But when is it ever nothing with Salem?”
The girl paced the room a bit. Professor Oobleck also had his own doubts prior to Yang’s. Emerald started biting her thumbnail as she walked in circles. Now, she was sure something was wrong.
Salem’s associates.
The first battle lost.
A battle lost prematurely?
Did they throw the fight on purpose?
‘Cloak and Dagger’.
Emerald stopped in her step.
“Shit…”
“What? Did you figure it out?” Yang jumped.
“It’s in the stupid name! Salem’s such a pompous asshole! But, shit. We’re the only ones who know about it, and we’re too far away to make a difference!!!” Emerald shouted, while pulling out her scroll and typing as fast as she could.
“What is it, Em?!”
“Cloak and Dagger, Yang! If that whole fight was the cloak…”
Yang’s eyes widened with realization.
“Where’s the dagger?”

As Temujin made her way back into the throne room with tired steps, she was helped by Mouse and Knives Rakis into her seat.
“Hoh hoh,” she planted herself with a shamble. “I really am getting old. Hardly lifted a finger and all these bones start creaking like thin leaf plywood.”
“I wouldn’t really call firing a couple airships and spears the size of most people ‘hardly lifting a finger’,” Mouse smirked.
“Oh, then you should have seen me back in the day. Riding my motorcycle into battle with hell’s fury at my beck and call. It would’ve made today’s display look shameful in comparison.”
“You’re still plenty strong.”
“Peh!” Temujin brushed it off. “No, most definitely not strong. But perhaps a tad shrewder in my age. I mostly get you youngsters to fight my battles for me now—to my regret.”
At that moment, Knives brought a freshly steaming cup of tea and set it on Temujin’s arm rest. The elder was about to drink it, before she pulled back.
“Knives, this is much too hot. Can’t you bring me a cooler cup?”
The two siblings gave a momentary pause.
“A gentle reminder for you to slow down and take your time,” Knives replied smoothly.
“Take any more time and I might right die of old age.”
“Enough of that. For now, Mouse and I will handle the logistics of the aftermath. We’ll report when everything is summarized.”
“We suffered very little casualties…”
“Yes, we did.”
“…That doesn’t sit well. Victory never comes so easily.”
She stared into the sibling’s pairs of silver eyes and saw they reflected something far-off in the distance. Not just the distance, but also maybe the future.
“Be vigilant, children. And Knives, thank you for attending to the other matter.”
“Of course. Please, take this time to enjoy your tea.”
With Knives’ parting words, the siblings left the room. Temujin was left to stare at her tea cup with her lower lip sticking out in a sort of pout.
“How am I supposed to enjoy it if I can’t drink it?”
The drink still had a thick haze of steam swirling from its surface…
—until the steam suddenly wavered.
“Ah… I really am getting old.” Temujin gripped her cane tighter. “To think I didn’t notice an assassin until they came this close.”
From an open window, Vulcan Black leapt in with his giant maul in hand. The head of his hammer torched with the flame and lava of a volcanic eruption. A heavy cloud of billowing smolder trailed from his downward swing.
“Cheeky brat.”
Temujin tapped her cane once against the stone floor and activated her “territory”. Vulcan was less than five paces away from letting his hammer fall, when his body faltered in midair. The assassin’s large stature then, crumbled as if under its own weight. He immediately started choking for air as his vision blurred. It was as if the atmosphere itself was trying to kill him, rejecting him like a bacterial infection.
Temujin stood from her seat and bade her teacup one last glance.
She thought about how the Rakis twins were acting, and how unusual Knives was about bringing her a drink much hotter than her usual brew. It was a subtle ploy to warn her.
They must have used their Semblance to foresee this.
No wonder she gave me an especially steaming cup.
How nice it is to have such thoughtful children…
Temujin made her slow way to Vulcan, who was nearing unconsciousness.
“Huh. Never met an assassin as bulky as you. In my prime days, I have no doubt we would have enjoyed a grand battle. Alas, I can’t really act that way anymore. My days of fighting head on, facing my foe blow for blow!” she pumped her fists, then went into a tired lament. “Long past, I’m afraid. I’ve had to resort to much shrewder methods with my seniority.”
Vulcan concentrated all his focus into moving his arm. It reached for his trusty maul that fell just a few millimeters from his outstretched fingers. He could almost touch it, when Temujin’s foot rested on his knuckles.
“Still haven’t given up on killing me! My respects!”
Vulcan was practically frothing at the mouth. Nothing but his rage and anguish kept him alive.
“It was sore luck you were contracted to kill me. I doubt there’s ever a worst target in all of Remnant for assassinations than myself.”
The giant assassin was now shaking uncontrollably.
“Well, may you have peaceful passage into the afterlife knowing you were defeated by the strongest Aura Skill practitioner to ever exist.”
At some point, Vulcan stopped resisting. Something of a quiet acceptance started to seep into his soul.
“My apologies, young pup. But this is death.”
Temujin honed her cane to a sharpness with Aura Skill, before plunging it swiftly through Vulcan’s back. The blow came quick and merciful and painless.
A heavy silence filled the chamber.
“The greatest shame for an assassin having failed their mission, is a corpse left behind. I shall endeavor to preserve your dignity as much as possible. An unmarked grave in the middle of the dunes, where no one will disturb you or uncover you. I suppose I owe you that much for my disgraceful methods.”
Temujin tore down one of the large tapestries hanging from the walls and threw it over Vulcan’s corpse.
“Now, that I think of it, I never asked your name.”
“I suppose that too is a preservation of dignity for an assassin.”

A far distance away, three figures laid on their bellies, peeking just barely over the crest of a tall sand dune.
“Curious…Very curious…” one of them muttered behind his intricately silver designed magnifying glass.
Bean and Inna, who watched the same scene play out turned to him with expectation.
“You’ve discovered the method Temujin employed against Vulcan?” Bean asked.
“You didn’t?” the man asked back.
“Reason unclear. Vulcan… collapsed without any point of contact or visible action. Your theory is required, Professor Moriarty.”
“Elementary, young man. But I must say, her Semblance is more flexible than I would have guessed. But these eyes see, this brain knows,” the man tapped his temple. “My Semblance learns all secrets.”
“Explanation required,” Bean repeated.
Moriarty gave a dark chuckle
“The old bat used her Warsmith’s Semblance to ‘weaponize’ her surroundings. Atmospheric pressure, temperature, I’d even include the gravity—all of it came under her control. She can make her environment literally a weapon. How fascinating.”
The young boy went into silent shock before speaking again.
“Conclusion drawn: close combat deemed impossible. Only viable avenue is long-range methods.”
“It’ll be tough to catch an Aura Skill user like Temujin from long-range,” Inna added her input. “But if anyone can do it, I can.”
The girl nodded her consent, but Moriarty gave them both a dismissive look. He stroked his thick broom mustache in thought.
“Not necessarily. There appears to be a weakness… For now, we should regroup and report to Salem. Our other cohorts should be carrying with Dagger Phase as we speak.”
“…Agreed,” Bean answered. “The second wave must be prepared.”
The three left their hiding spot and made for the mountain ridge they made headquarters.
On the way back, Bean glanced to the Haven Professor seemingly doing a multitude of calculations in his head.
“Probability of Dagger Team’s success?” the boy asked.
“85% by my observation” Moriarty replied easily.
“…And success of eliminating the main targets?”
“Hmmm. Four of the six objectives should be met, if we are to include Vulcan’s failed mission, though, that was within expectation.”
“And the other failed target?”
“Chain Nai will likely survive. He is an exceptionally formidable one. The rest of the targets will not.”
Bean went silent. He felt a pinch at the edge of his heart.
He didn’t know them well, or particularly liked them. But there were two individuals targeted for elimination in Dagger Phase he felt some bitterness towards.
Bean muttered quietly under his breath,
“Sorry, Yang.”

In the aftermath of the battle, the Black Iron Road had all its furnaces fired immediately.
They didn’t know when the next battle would break out and many of those who took part in the fight, needed repairs to their arms as soon as possible. This also held true for those with prosthetics.
As a result, a long line of patrons in queue were lined up outside Brigid’s workshop. All her apprentices were working around the clock, dashing back and forth between stations. They ran out to exchange parts they were low on with other shops. And among the chaos, Brigid received her next patron with a certain grin.
“Mercury!” she bellowed. “Take care of this one here!”
Mercury quickly put the finishing touches to a Faunus’ ear in time to clear a seat.
A boy, a bit pockmarked in the face and some bloody scrapes, sat down on the stool in front of him. The young boy looked a little worse for wear, but he didn’t act like it. Instead, he beamed with a pride only the young and boastful could have.
“Can’t believe your old man let you join the aerial unit at the last minute,” Mercury shook his head, and began disassembling the damaged parts to Icarus’s wing.
“I only worked support mostly,” he replied shyly.
“Uh huh. And you get these scrapes only working support.”
“Well, when the main units were busy somewhere else, they needed us to hold the lines on another front. We couldn’t let any Grimm pass the wall, after all.”
“How many did you get?”
“About… five.”
“So, two. Pretty good for a kid with a new prosthetic.”
“I said, five!”
“I saw two.”
Icarus blushed with embarrassment.
“You were watching me?”
“Yeah. Only cause you were watching me.”
“That was cause you were so cool! How did you make a storm by yourself?! Can you teach me to do that?!”
“Maybe. Probably should check with your dad first. Where is the hard ass, anyway?”
“He’s right here, cousin.”
Mercury heard the poison in that voice and turned with an indescribable feeling of dread.
Not too far behind Icarus was Daed. But behind the father was a cloaked figure wearing a steel mask. The assassin had a knife tucked just barely visibly under his hostage’s throat.
“Jupiter…!” Mercury growled.
“So, glad you remembered me. I’d thought you’d all but forgotten your debt unpaid.”
“Let him go!”
“Tsk tsk tsk. Well, that would entirely defeat the purpose of a hostage now, wouldn’t it?”
“Goddamn it! Goddamn you, Jupiter!!!”
“Temper, dear cousin. If anyone should be angry, it should be me. You killed Apollo and Diana.”
“They got themselves killed!”
“And now, I have two less assassins under my management. You and your precious little friends are going to suffer for that. No hard feelings, mind you. Simply professional. I have a reputation to uphold.”
Mercury was about to leap at him, when Jupiter twisted the knife, causing some blood to drip from Dead. The threat made Mercury freeze instantly.
“See, that is the difference between you and I, little cousin. We are assassins, but you lack the actual principle required by our kind.”
Mercury was practically burning with anger, doing everything to check his impulse.
“Life is fleeting. It giveth and it is taketh.”
“You want me?! Then come and get me! Leave them out of this!!!”
“Attachment to it in any shape or form, even your own—”
“JUPITER!”
“—Is weakness.”

In the dark alleyway, Adam’s slash caught nothing but air. His target had ducked at the last second and slipped close in the next.
Neo twisted her body with a quick torque and a snap to unleash a vicious uppercut kick that connected with Adam’s jaw. Once her opponent was floating midair, she readied to transition into the follow up. She didn’t want to allow him even a single chance to touch the ground again.
Just then, a violet light drew from the shadows and sliced at her midsection. Neo had no choice but to back off and teleport away.
During her retreat, something odd happened. Her Semblance didn’t grant her the smooth passage it usually did. Instead, her body was flung upside down through a nearby store window.
Neo didn’t understand. She scanned her surroundings, but it was nowhere near resembling the location she wanted to warp to. Something interfered with her Semblance. When she finally looked down at the wound she received, Neo knew the cause.
In addition to the blood draining out, a cursed black mist billowed from the opened flesh. Neo then, heard the snapping of glass as her two enemies caught up to her.
Blake and Adam approached like a pack of hunters cornering their prey.
Neo could only curse silently as she took up her fighting stance once more.
“Tonight, the monster finally dies,” Blake gloated. “And once you’re gone, Yang will be mine once again.”
“…!”
“Face it, Neo. It never would’ve worked out. Yang and I were made for each other. She knows it, I know it, everybody does. Hahaha!”
Neo growled mutely.
“Even you! You just don’t have the courage to admit it.”
Neo summoned an army of shimmering glass weapons, but they were blown away by the simultaneous wind slashes of Blake and Adam.
“You never had any hope. No salvation.”
I’ll kill you!
“See? How could Yang ever love such a monster, like you? A murderer and a psychopath? She’s a good girl. Too good for you.”
I’LL KILL YOU!
“I mean, I suppose there are a few fans of the deranged kind, who love to see the brave heroine corrupted by a lunatic’s cruel whims. But I was never fond of it myself.”
I’LL KILL YOU UNTIL THERE’S NOTHING LEFT!!!
“Very unhealthy, I think. No, I much prefer the romance between the kind-hearted, well-meaning, but tragic beauty and her brave, fiercely, sexy warrior. Now, that—”
SHUT UP!!!
“That is a ship I can get behind.”

Episode 2: “I was prepared to come in this game and slay.” - Madison
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ok well... none of us were voted out which is alright i guess but we are literally not winning this immunity with gloria and patricia on our tribe.... like no offense to them but they finna submit like 20 thinking its a good score like arghhh its whatever tho bc im going to get the highest on the tribe so if they vote me out theyre literally the dumbest people ive ever met. if we lose, i truly dont think im going anywhere bc i have 3 people im genuinely friends with and ive been having good convos with dennis and brian... wow i cant believe im aligning with mostly men
Tumblr media
me as soon as i saw the blog for the game: "i should check the rules page, i know some hosts are sneaky & hide advantages in there"
me: everything looks a-ok to me!!!!
hosts: make sure you check the rules page!!!
me: hmmm seems fishy, let me check again!!!
me: nope, nothing ot the the blue
me: tells dan about the advantage in the results post
dan: something looked fishy to me in the rules page, but i tried to right-click and nothing worked, let me check again
dan: omg. it took me to the same page as the results
me: wow. i truly am a useless piece of garbage
Tumblr media
ok im back and i found out more info. so apparently gloria has been on call with dennis AND francie which means they dont play around. i think theyre being really social with everyone and i KNOW francie has amanda and emily on the other tribe so im actually really worried about them. i have talked to them a lot and i feel like i wouldnt be their first target but maybe randy or madison would be?? idk. if we dont win this immunity it wont be the worst thing in the world bc everyone agreed to patricia last week so might as well try again this round ig. i talked to randy and he's on the same page and also is afraid of francie and dennis being really social so hopefully once our tribe gets down to 7 or 8, the 4 of us (madison, randy, tj) would be majority. i really trust tj and he always keeps me updated but... he has a mind of his own and i wont be surprised if he wouldnt be down to do one of them. btw ill probably make a podcast or a video dr tomorrow if i find more tea...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m not going to do as well on this challenge as my tribe mates I don’t think. So now, of course, I’m thinking about tribal last night and how I was asked about the first challenge and I was like “yeah keep me around bc I can help in challenges.” That’s not going to be good for now. I’m going to do my best given the calculus and government homework I have for tomorrow (EW). I’m also thinking about the game as a whole. I want to put myself in a position of power wherein I can be a big part of strategy and make notable moves while also not flagging myself as someone “running the game” (lol like that’ll happen) or someone who’s too big of a threat to stay. This involves identifying larger threats than myself and locking them out before anyone knocks me out etc. There’s a bullseye; let me find my quiver. This is also probably the last confessional I’ll make ‘til after the challenge because why spend time confessing when you can find invisible cows. (I’m on the way to school and confessing on my phone. No, I’m not the one driving. I may confess at lunch or study hall if anything worth confessing happens between now and then.)
Tumblr media
Okay so I went back and checked the other posts and there wasn’t anything around. But when the new immunity challenge was posted, there was the same link hidden on the post. I sent it to my host chat and nothing. I noticed after I sent it that the link wasn’t hidden on the new challenge post anymore, but the previous ones are still there. Interesting….
So the Fans went to tribal and we were hoping that by sending Jon to Exile, they would vote out Randy and it would keep an inactive around to help them flop more. However, Jon struck out and was med-evac’d. Great. So now the Fans are gonna go super hard on this challenge since they basically got a free pass. This challenge, by the way…. Shout out to Drew. I hate this challenge. Invisible Cows can die, all of them. I told my tribe to make the window as small as possible so the cows have less places to hide, and I think its working out for everyone, so hopefully we can do this. I’m just worried because I know Madison on the other tribe just played this game in a challenge not too long ago and if she tells them about the trick then we are basically on even playing ground. Im at 800 right now and my goal is to get to 1500 but we will see.
I’m still trying to figure out my social game. Usually in games, I form some kind of alliance within the first 48 hours and generally keep up appearances with everyone. I want to do things differently this game. While I am still trying to be friendly and talk to people, I dont want to be the one to hold all the conversations. I’m having trouble keeping a conversation with Asa and Ian and Nicholas, but everyone else I’ve had at least a 10 minute conversation or longer every day. Colin has already suggested voting out Asa if we go to tribal because he’s talked to her the least. He says that me and him are good and I’m glad for that. I really like Colin. And I know that Emily will have my back, at least in the tribal portion of the game. Last night, Dan, Lindsay, and I formed an alliance. Finally! I really like Lindsay and we danced around forming an official alliance with each other for 3 days, and Dan and I have talked a lot, so I’m really glad this happened. With this alliance, and my bond with Colin and my relationship with Emily, I feel like I’ll be okay should we go to tribal. I’m hoping we don’t have to… here’s hoping we can find more cows than the Fans..

This challenge is cute! And also my tribe is just Slaying this challenge. I love this tribe, we're stacked as hell djkfgfh
Tumblr media
Oh well fuck. Well I was middle of the road with the scores so I didn’t go from top score to lowest ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it still fucking sucks though. I hope enough people are down with the plan from the last round depending on who gets exiled.
Temujin exiling Patricia was the obvious move—keep the lowest challenger in the game and force the losing tribe to send a better challenge player home, increasing the likelihood of them returning to tribal—and from a strategic standpoint I have to give them a bit of credit but being on the tribe that’s getting screwed over? Fuck this.
Tumblr media
So I'm in the predicament of which alliance to throw under the fucking bus, I should've been quiet about the group to Julia Rae and Madison. Best person to go home would be Brian or Randy, for my own personal benefit
Wow, so I don't know if you managed to see that but I told Julia Rae and Madison about GloForce...and then switch them to Brian
Tumblr media
Wow this tribe really is doing that. I get a bad feeling we’re gonna get swap-fucked somehow. I guess now that its been a few days I can give my opinions on people a little more.
I get strange vibes from Amanda and Dan. I feel like they’re close just by interactions they have in the tribe chat. They both also seem like the type to be cutthroat. I think I’m in good with them tho so as long as I’m not doing anything shady they might not target me, since I have a feeling they’ll be the ones trying to lead the first few votes when/if we go to tribal.
I get good vibes from Emily, Asa, Quillyn, and Lindsey. They seem pretty trustworthy and easy to work with.
As far as Nicholas, Ian, and Colin go, I don’t really have any connection with them but I’mma try talking to them more while things are easy and peaceful so they would be hesitant to vote out me over someone else.
I’m really curious as to who got the secret advantage. I’m mad as hell that I didn’t get it but oh well. I feel like if anyone got it it was probably on the faves tribe, cause I feel like the fans aren’t putting in all that much effort or reading into things as much as an experienced player might. I’m glad to have been the one to publicly expose the advantage because I want whoever got it to be on their toes and that they’ll have to be more cautious and stressed about trying to do things involving it. They probably think no one is paying attention but I have eyes in the webcams on their computers. I see them.
Tumblr media
Temujin won the second immunity and I'm very pleased with that as we are all getting along fine, but for how long? Eventually we will have to turn on each other and vote one of us out. My job is to just make sure it's not me, pre merge portion of the game I aim for a good score but not the best of unbeatable score. The sweet spot is upper middle, you are seen that you can be beat in individual challenges yet good enough to want to keep around for a strong pre merge tribe
Tumblr media
Also i feel like horse culture is important?? Like idk why the hosts wouldn't just put a keyboard smash url or make the url (survivormongolia.com/secret-advantage). Like horse culture must mean something. I wish I was one of those girls in middle school who put horse stickers on all their supplies. I feel like maybe I could better understand horse culture and what this could mean. But just know i have made a mental sticky note saying "HORSE CULTURE" in bold sharpie.
Tumblr media
Allow me to explain why Brian being voted off would be a fucking stupid idea or Julia and Madison, so if me, Julia, Madison, or Randy gets sent to exile and Patricia is gonna come back in our place just how well do you think that's gonna play out. Patricia isn't stupid and probably knows she was gonna get the boot...this time atleast. With the scores brian and randy have been producing it'd probably be them getting booted next, at this point I'm trying to stall...
Tumblr media
I'm glad we won another immunity! although I'm getting sick of the fake sweetness of our tribe like nobody actually likes each other that much and that will show once we end up losing one of these challenges. I'm really tired of the passive aggressive competitiveness of some of these people too like, we can just all support each other and not like try to put people down who can't get as high of a score on a shitty flash game? I'm hoping for an early swap honestly I would definitely want to try working with some of these fans over the people on my tribe who I just can't seem to connect with.
Tumblr media
So. Jon went to exile Island and got his 3rd strike. That was great, because he would've been voted off anyways.
Then the next challenge happened and disaster struck. First off, I love that minigame but holy shit, it drives some1 crazy UNLESS YOUR NAME IS MADISON AND YOU ACTUALLY FIND A TRICK TO SPEED UP THE PROCESS BUT THEN PROCEED TO NOT TELL ANY1. Eitherway I spend around 3 hours during all my exams and papers, that are due, to find stupid 800 cows until I was about to go to bed, wher TJ told me a trick to boost up my score. So I did that and brought it up to 1100 by another 20 min but that wasn't enough by FAR. The rest of the tribe decided that 300 or 600 is enough. Obviously we couldn't know how much the other tribe was getting, but after seeing that easy trick everyone could've atleast aimed for 1000.
We lose the challenge, they pick Patricia, which is a good pick (Since she would've most likely been voted off other wise - even though I did bring up a point in the alliance chat, that we might have needed her to keep the majority in the tribe, just in case the other 4 form a counter alliance). Me and TJ talked a bit and I told him before, that the only 2 possible votes are Brian or Randy. Both have barely been active in this tribe, with Randy just doing a tiny bit more (Flag challenge) but we can't hold that as a positive for him, forever. In the end it seems to be brian tonight, oh well unlucky.
But in my opinion, seeing how our Tribe works compared to the Favorites this wont change anything. They will keep beating us out in every challenge until we are at a low number of members just to be picked up 1 by 1 in the merge or at a tribeswap. Its super scary and I am already getting a little bit anxious and frustrated looking forward. The worst thing that could happen to us is, that we win the Reward challenge and then get on too much of a high, go back to doing the least amount of work, just to be crushed at the next Immunity challenge again. Lets hope that isn't the case. Lets hope a swap happens sooner than later, when we still have some numbers..
Tumblr media
But, on a more serious note! That whole conversation about the secret advantage came up with Dan after he returned from Exile. He told me about the idol on Exile, & how it's the name of a Survivor, you only have two yes or no questions to narrow it down, & you only get three guesses. He also told me what questions he asked, & his guesses!
So, I guess my social game is better than I thought it was, because he said he was only going to tell Amanda & I, & we ended up making an alliance chat. To be honest, this group really makes sense to me, because I feel we are more of the "social" people on our tribe, where we'll message people first, & try to keep the conversation going, so I'm really happy with this core group. Now, I'm not a mathematician, but even I know that three out of ten people in a tribe is not a majority, but it's nice to have a solid core group that we can hopefully add to when needed! Plus, if you have a smaller group inside a bigger one, you're already in a better position number wise. I'm blabbering on about this newfound alliance, & how it's good for my game, just to watch it blow up when the inevitable swap happens, & we're split up. :) :) :) :)
I'm still trying to form relationships with other people on my tribe, but I feel like I haven't really gotten far. I think I have a good relationship with QuilLynn! We actually talk quite a bit, & have good conversations about things outside the game, & I really like her! She's someone I can definitely see myself working with down the line, so hopefully she feels the same way.
Like, I'm really glad & relieved that we've won the immunity challenges, but sometimes when you're on a tribe that keeps winning, it's easy to just relax & not talk as much. It's when you lose, where everyone starts to scramble, & relationships develop further. Basically right now, we're the Love tribe, where everything is sunshine & rainbows, & no one has a bad thing to say about anyone. But, if we were to lose, we'd go from *heart eyes emoji* to *knife emoji* real quick.
I don't want to say I thrive in chaos, because I don't, I'll overthink every possible scenario & hop aboard the paranoid train, full speed ahead. However, I thrive when people are very conversational, & I feel like the people on my tribe will only become like this when they feel their ass may be on the line.
Another update about our tribe idol: Still haven't guessed once. Still a flop. Let's try to turn this around, Lindsay! You can do it.
This confessional has been all over the place, so sorry I'm a mess. I don't know. I can't control my thoughts or put them into words very well.
Tumblr media
I’m angry I found 2.6k cows and we still lost. I don’t know what this tribe is doing tbh it’s such a mess. I was prepared to come in this game and SLAY but that’s kinda impossible right now so.
Gloria is an icon.
That’s all.
Tumblr media
So I guess I haven't done one of these this round! WHOOPS. Well, not much has changed in my game. I'm still really enjoying the tribe for the most part and just trying to do my best in the tribe! Like I'm really proud of myself for performing so well in the challenges so far. Jokes on the tribe bc when I start school again, I'm not going to have as much time to do things *shrugs* I know I'm pretty and successful and they'll just need to understand that.
On a serious note, I'm worried about Colin coming back from exile and the idol situation over there. I'm lucky I have some time to plot and think about how I'm going to address that. I think I'm gonna say something along the lines of, well I kinda wanted to see who went to exile next before I said anything to anyone about it. I would be open to sharing information with Colin, I just feel like with him working we really haven't had the chance we need to really like create a lasting bond. Yes, we talked about people we liked and about keeping each other's best interests in mind, but that was one curt little conversations. I know curt implies rudeness, but that's not how I mean it, I'm just not smart enough to think of a better word. But, any who, I have some scrambling to do with our relationship, but I'm willing to give it a go. We shall see what the future holdsssss.
Tumblr media
Cow cow cow cow cow cow cow cow cow WOW IT WAS WORTH IT HEHE! I got 666 cows and our tribe won by an absolute landslide. I’m super happy! I am excited to see what happens when the fans actually have to um vote someone out and not be saved from a medical evacuation lmao. Also I haven’t been talking to people like I should because I’m so fucking lazy. And tired. Like give me a break people
Tumblr media
Ugh we lost but I did so bad but I didn't had time to do it. I feel like I'm going home tonight unless I get to go to exile since I was lowest and last one they send had nothing
Tumblr media
Hello it's me fallen tuna. I like my tribe a bit better it's pretty clear that we are all pretty busy. I suck the most at the comps so thats somewhat confusing but asa talks less so if we lost that might be the one person I'd try to get out
Tumblr media
So this round has been me trying my hardest and obviously not succeeding. The faves tribe are just too dedicated for this game. Which is great for them, but we arent naturally as competitive as they are. Meaning that we're once again going to tribal. And they sent home Patricia. The girl who we thought would be the next voted off.
So now its scrambling. Julia told me her group of TJ, Madison, etc. is going to do Brian. I brought up the fact that me and Brian are close, and that Francie would probably be better since she's obviously close with Amanda on the other tribe. But Madison is also close with them, so i dont see them leaving this week. If I have to vote out Brian. Then damn, but I'm not leaving premerge. So its just time to cut my losses, and hopefully make it to a tribe swap.
Tumblr media
Confessional: I am very upset with many players on my tribe who I feel don't need to be here because they are somewhat inactive and not trying all that hard in challenges. They need to carry their asses to be perfectly blunt. They are hurting our tribe and it takes all the fun out of the game to be honest. People are telling me they are voting Brian and I love him to death and know for fact he can be a great player but this game he has shown me nothing so I am going with majority and he was on my rdar this round for vote also, I am working with TJ Francie and Dennis and hope us 4 stick together and none of them turn on me. Thus far they are my safety net but who knows what will happen if a tribe switch happens and I hate this sending people to exile island it sucks big time cause I am afraid that will kill my game if sent. I hope that everybody 100% votes Brian out tonight and Randy isn't showing much attempt either after doing that gorgeous flag. That sucks but it is what it is in games take the good with the bad. Hope I last see you at tribal honorable host. <3 GLO GLO <3
Tumblr media
So my gay ass is sitting here, minding my own business, and what do I see in a VL I'm in? Emily and Amanda are hosting an Athena season together? INCHRESTING. I will keep that little tid bit in the back of my head when it comes time to vote somebody out.
Tumblr media
Okay so basically at this point my tribe is slaying the game! As one would expect, we have a lot of seasoned players who are hungry for redemption and really don’t want to be the first fave gone so everyone is going really over the top with these challenges. I won’t complain because they keep me safe by extension but i have a feeling that there is going to be a loss or a luck comp in our near future and i just don’t know how i am going to fare if we go to tribal. Right now i know that Quil, Emily and Lindsay wouldn’t vote me out. So that means hopefully 4/9 votes. Ive been trying to reconnect with Ian and I don’t think he would vote me out either so I think I could survive a tribal if I ended up going to one.
Right now i am putting in some work to make sure that Im not the first boot from this tribe. I’m trying to not talk to Asa or Thomas [they also don’t message me,,,,ew??? like wtf are you doing here if you aren’t going to message anyone] so that I can eagerly throw their names around if we go to tribal. Also ironically enough they are the highest placing members of our tribe so I’m hoping it can be an easy sell. That’s about it for now!
Tumblr media
Honestly, I hate the fact we lost the challenge. I hate the fact that Patricia was given immunity because that means that my time may be up. People barely try and talk to me, or even bother to reply to me. So I think it's me tonight, which is fine. I am content with my journey. I was told it may be Randy but I doubt it. We'll see.
Tumblr media
I'm good Patricia is coming on so hot. She's just like "I wanna work with you" and calls me right away like omg ajdhaidhss it's not that I wouldn't wanna work w her it's just that you'd think she'd spend st least ten minutes to have some small talk before throwing me six feet deep into strategy talk...
Tumblr media
i dont think im getting voted out but if i do oh well... everyones voting brian i believe and my friends have no reason to lie to me so i am feelin GOOD!! i hope theres a tribe swap so i can be safe for once oh my god
Tumblr media
I hope this tribal and the Brian vote are successful. Fingers crossed!
Tumblr media
I'm confessing to say Emily was robbed in Athena All Stars and I love Drew even though he drags me always the end

Fourth Crusade (Part Three)
.
We don’t believe in accomplishing the impossible.
Until the time comes when we no longer have a choice.
Then we move the mountains and skies.
Then we move Heaven and Hell.
.
.
I always wondered where I went wrong that fateful day.
Raven was angrier than any time I’d ever known her. Qrow and Tai also.
I should have said something—done something. There was a point where I was afraid they might start fighting each other.
Me, afraid…
Some team leader I was.
Raven said Temujin was going to die and all her old friends faced the same danger, or worse.
She wanted to leave.
Qrow and Tai called her selfish and irresponsible.
And as I stared down at Yang cradled in my arms, I agreed.
But part of me wanted her to stay for my own selfish reasons.
And that was the last day STRQ Team would ever be together.
I was their leader, and when they needed me to lead them most, I failed.
I watched my team tear itself apart in front of me, and didn’t lift a finger to stop it.
It’s only now, I know what I should have done.
What we should have done.
We all wanted the same thing, but bringing that truth to the surface is always difficult. I guess that’s the same for everyone.
I have this thing… this ability.
With it, I can see people’s dreams, even walk through them. I can glimpse what they wish for the most.
There was never stopping Raven from leaving for Vacuo. She wanted our support, our understanding. Even though, she pretends not to care what we think. It broke her heart when none of us took her side.
Qrow wanted to help the Faunus cause too, but Ozpin and even Shepherd asked him not to interfere. He wanted to stop Raven from leaving more than any of us—and he blamed himself more than any of us. Qrow saw himself as a failure, when all he wanted to do was watch out for his big sister for once.
Tai loved Raven, but love can turn to hate so quickly. I don’t think he’ll ever forgive her for abandoning him and Yang. All he wanted was for us to stay together as a team. He wanted us to stay one big, happy family.
He probably wished for that more than I did.
I…
I wanted to be with Raven above everything else.
She was my partner, my best friend, my…
I loved her.
I’d dream forever about how that day could have ended differently. We all did.
The right word or the right sentence. Raven stopping at the front door. Her turning back, and deciding to stay in Patch. Still a sister to her brother. Still a mother to Yang. A member of STRQ Team forever.
And always the one by my side.
But that’s all they were.
Dreams.
We can get lost in them if we’re not careful, or worse, they can be taken advantage of.
And we can’t stop having them, either.
I think a big part of a lot of us is we wish we could want less. Feel less of that hurt when we don’t get what we so sorely need.
But I also think that’s a part of what makes the human soul—our dreams.
That’s why the only thing we can try to do is bring them to life with our own hands.
I searched a long time for the answer to that day, to what we should have done.
And after all this, I finally know.
It’s a bit late.
But I found a way to make our dreams come true.
All it will take is a little bit of luck,
A little bit of determination,
And just a little bit of courage.
.

“Thank you for lending me your help, Knives,” Summer spoke to the girl, whose body she currently possessed.
You don’t have to thank me, the small voice replied.
You’re helping me save Temujin.
And I was the one, who reached out to you in the first place.
“Yeah. But without your Semblance, none of this would be possible. So I felt like I should say thank you one more time.”
……You’re welcome, Knives replied shyly. But you should save your thanks for if we actually manage to change the future.
“True enough.”
Summer grinned inwardly.
“Such a good girl.”
The small thought made her dig her feet deeper into the stone floor. Summer tightened her grip around the daggers stopping Camlann’s claymore from running her through to Temujin. The Grimm knight’s strength and stamina were practically limitless, but still, the little girl managed to hold on.
Temujin was behind, straining her Semblance. Gravity, atmospheric pressure, even the chemicals in the air bent to her will. And still, Camlann withstood the hostile environment collapsing around it. Its massive body pushing forward one step at a time, inching its blade closer to its mortal enemy’s neck.
The stalemate brought the world around them to a halt. A density filled the throne room of the Hanging Gardens.
Meanwhile, Blake and Adam watched the war of attrition from a distance. The dark-haired girl showing a particularly conflicted expression.
“It seems Titan’s death affects me more than I realize. Else, I’d never find myself hesitating to such degree. Or is it the freshness of this new vessel?” the Witch’s speech fell from Blake’s lips. “My apologies for letting this drag on.”
Blake brandished Gambol Shroud and pointed its barrel between Summer and Temujin. She knew a simple pull of the trigger would be enough. The two couldn’t afford to divert their attentions elsewhere. They were completely vulnerable.
Still, when the Witch willed her finger to squeeze, it would not.
“……Blake,” she said to herself, like lecturing a child. “How long do you plan to resist? Temujin’s suffering only prolongs until her Semblance inevitably exhausts. We are performing a mercy.”
The Witch sighed, paying no attention to the rest of her body, which was now trembling uncontrollably.
“The past will not repeat itself. Titan destroyed my previous vessel. Salem is no more. You are the Witch now. Do you understand? You will kill who I want you to kill.”
Blake’s arm shook so hard, the gun almost fell out of her hands. But no matter how much the host fought, the sights of her weapon eventually tracked back to Temujin. The trigger was now being pulled. Only a few more ounces of pressure, and it would all be over.
The Witch sighed.
“Unbelievable. Your stubbornness is frustrating, but admirable. I’ve chosen a very good vessel this time around.”
Blake let her arm drop to the side.
“Adam,” she snapped.
But nothing happened.
“Adam.” Blake ordered more firmly.
When she turned around, she saw the young man had stabbed his sword through his own leg. Blood trickled freely from the wound. Adam collapsed to one knee.
“…Truly inconceivable,” the Witch mocked in awe. “Blake, I can more or less understand. But you, Adam. Temujin treated you like a disgrace when you grew beyond her control. She hated you for stealing Blake away.”
“She…! Could have ended me whenever she wanted…! Even now!” Adam answered with pained breaths. “Temujin has always put our people above all else…! This is the least I can do!!!”
“A noble sentiment. You are hereby ordered to consume Bane.”
The Witch’s command sent a lump down Adam’s throat. He knew what the action entailed, but despite his inner protests, his hand went to the pocket of his coat. A polished shard of obsidian quality drew shakily between his fingers.
The Bane would rob Adam of his reason. Only a beast would be left, a beast driven by nothing but his baser instincts. A hound that would follow the Witch’s orders to its letter.
With his last trace of sanity, he looked to Temujin. He didn’t know what to expect.
There was only warmth in the old Faunus’ eyes. An understanding and acceptance of what would come next. She bore no ill will towards him. A pre-conditioned forgiveness transcended the wordless stare.
Adam felt tears swell, right before his whole world reeled back into nothingness. Only the sharp cuts of crystal on his gums could be felt. And then, rage rushed out from the pits.
The berserker ripped the sword from his leg, no thought spared to worsening the wound. On the contrary, once the blade was free, the opening in the muscle tissue closed rapidly. Bane increased his healing factor, as well as cause Adam’s features to grow more bestial. His Aura began to overflow like a broken faucet.
The young man’s katana was returned to its sheath and his body lowered into his signature iaido stance.
At the same time, Camlann abruptly changed the angle of its sword. Displacing the blade up, the Grimm pressed close to Knives’ significantly smaller body and swiped its elbow in an upper cut motion. The girl’s guard broke, her daggers sent flying in different directions.
Not giving her a chance to draw replacements, Camlann brought the point of its toe to her midsection. Knives’ was able to bring her hands to catch it in time, but the kick sent her flying to the roof.
“No!”
Summer was out of the way. Adam had a clear line of sight on Temujin, and Camlann was ready to follow through.
Knives’ Semblance flashed a future coming to fruition. The veil draped over events yet to happen was being lifted. A familiar blade piercing Temujin.
You have to stop them! Knives cried from within.
“This… will have lasting consequences.”
DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO! JUST SAVE HER!
“Alright, Knives.”
As Summer’s feet met the ceiling, a burst of silvery Aura enveloped her.
The moment Adam launched his attack, a ghostly afterimage appeared in his way. Its figure obscured by a white, misty cloak. Beneath its cape, a pair of chakrams flew out. The cyclic blades caught Adam’s with perfect timing, putting a stop to it, while almost breaking the katana itself.
As quickly as the apparition appeared, so too did it evaporate.
“If I wasn’t used to seeing Raven’s techniques, that could have gone a lot worse,” Summer thought to herself.
At the same time, Camlann attempted to cleave through Temujin, but a triple strike from a descending Knives forced the claymore into the floor just short. With the weapon imbedded, the little girl landed on its spine, trapping the weapon deeper into the foundation.
“Temujin!” Summer shouted.
There was a slight reluctance, but the elder dismissed it. The activating of her Semblance increased the gravity of Camlann’s arm, holding it firmly in place.
Knives expelled a short breath. Just as the host and its possessor were about to let relief sink in, a small fluctuation in their connection occurred. Almost like the two personalities were being ripped from one another.
What is this? Why is this happening?!
“I used my own Semblance with your body,” Summer answered. “It was too much to force through our connection, and you might wake up soon.”
I can’t! We need you to fight!
“It’s alright, our bond should hold for now. Also, we managed to buy enough time!”
Just then, Blake’s ears twitched in the direction of the throne room’s entrance.
“Hmph. Unwanted guests of the most annoying variety,” she said without a hint of worry. “Adam.”
The berserk swordsman moved next to her, and together, they disappeared in a tuft of black smoke.
The instant they were gone, a man with short blond hair appeared at the entrance door. With him, flew a bird which quickly turned into a human upon landing.
The moment they passed through the archway together, Blake and Adam reappeared just above. Their blades poised and ready. Gravity guiding their ambush towards unsuspecting prey.
“Sanctuary!” Summer called.
Though the voice was Knives’, Taiyang reacted to the keyword and the authority of its tone like it was second nature. The man planted his feet. A solid stance rooted his core to the earth. As he channeled his Aura through his immediate surroundings, Chinese trigrams interposed the floor. The tattoos of his Semblance’s activation appeared all over his skin, as well as on Qrow’s.
Blake and Adam’s swords struck the pair’s necks, but only managed to cause sparks to fly, as if they connected with solid steel wall.
“Yellow Jacket!” Summer gave the following order.
Qrow and Taiyang moved. While Blake blinked out of harm’s way, the blonde martial artist circled Adam. Ducking below a wide-arcing slash, Taiyang took the swordsman’s back, putting him in a body lock.
With Adam’s limbs trapped, unable to defend himself, Qrow leveled his sword and thrust. The young man’s abdominal was pierced clean through. Qrow’s blade only stopping when it met Taiyang’s body.
As the old partners finished their combo, Knives shared another Precognition with Summer. The prediction of the future shifted slightly for a moment before returning to its course. In the changed timeline, the manner in which Temujin was killed was different, but it was a deviation nonetheless.
We can do it! Changing the future is still possible!
“Yes, but the price might be too much.” Summer said doubtfully.
What do you need?
“…More. More than what I’ve already asked.”
Then, take it!
“ If I do, the damage will be irreparable. It will be the worst-case scenario.”
I don’t care!
“Knives…”
Please! Temujin is everything to Mouse and me. If there’s a price to pay for even one chance at saving her, I’ll pay it! I don’t care what it takes!
“…I understand,” Summer acknowledged with a solemnness. “It’s probably why I was able to bond with you.”
There was movement beneath her feet. Then, Camlann freed its blade from being stuck in the ground. And with a speed that belied the Grimm’s mass, swung its claymore at the girl who once stood on it.
Just as the edge cleaved the side of Knives’ arm, the visage trailed away. Dissipated, like a mere mirage. Only a sliver of wisp left behind, before that was gone too.
A light ring from a wind chime could be heard. It was both gentle, but piercing. And like a ghost, a figure in a bright-white cape landed next to Qrow and Taiyang. A disturbing likeness to one they knew so dearly was shining through.
“Hey, guys. Did you miss me?” Knives addressed the two.
They could see the girl’s irises shimmer silver under the familiar hood. A ceaseless discharge of power flowed from them, like a force trying to break through. It was causing cracks to develop in her pupils.
“Summer? Is that really you?” Qrow murmured in disbelief.
“It is,” Summer nodded.  She brandished a faint image of her chakrams—a pair of circular blades. Their diameter was the length of her legs, decorated like wreaths of thorns and roses.
“Shrike,” she ordered, before taking off at a run.
Qrow matched his movements to her. Taiyang conjured tattooed characters to blanket both their skins.
The dashing pair flanked Camlann with light-footed maneuvers. Countless strikes rang out from the knight’s armor. Because they were reinforced by Taiyang’s Semblance, their attacks cut deeper grooves than they would otherwise.
If the situation continued, the Grimm might have been brought down by a thousand small wounds. But Blake realized what was happening, and intervened.
She appeared at the Grimm’s side. Her fast bladework danced in Summer’s mirror opposite. A lightning chain exchange between light and dark rippled the air. Every collision made the atmosphere scream with the clashing elements.
“You’re killing her,” Blake commented. “You’re forcing your Semblance through whatever connection you have, and it’s killing her.”
The Witch observed the fissures in Knives’ eyes, like flaws growing in shattering glass.
“No!” Temujin yelled. “Summer! Stop using Knives this instant!”
Summer realized the Witch’s words weren’t meant to taunt her, but to incite Temujin.
“This is what she wants!” she cried out. “Knives decided this herself!”
“I don’t care!” Temujin protested. “I won’t let either of you put her life in danger any longer…”
“No!”
“She will not die on my behalf!”
“Temujin!”
But it was too late. Temujin activated her Semblance and emptied the air around Knives of oxygen. The girl could only keep what breath was still in her lungs and retreat, or risk losing consciousness.
“Finally,” Blake smirked.
The Witch immediately double teamed her assault with Camlann. A flurry of vicious strikes cut Qrow’s Aura to ribbons, and almost did the same with his flesh. But the veteran Huntsman backed off just as his defenses were giving out. The tattoos across his and Summer’s skin pulsed with a yellow burn.
As soon as Summer was out of Temujin’s territory, she parted her held breath.
“Dragonfly!”
Qrow unfolded his sword into its scythe form. He swung it around once to generate momentum. On the second return, Taiyang leapt onto its edge.
A fiery sonic boom lit the chamber as the fighter was catapulted at Camlann. The once glowing tattoos on his comrades reappeared on his skin. The damages they took transferred to him, awakening the strength that was previously dormant.
Blake tried to intercept, but her attack only seemed to amplify Taiyang’s strength, as he blew passed her.
Camlann stabbed its sword-arm into the ground. It dug it in like an anchor to withstand the oncoming force. The Grimm’s shield went up, large enough to cover its whole body.
Taiyang pulled his elbow back in preparation. When he reached the optimum distance, his hand thrusted out. A firm stance was taken at a zero-point distance.
For a brief moment, the world came to a strenuous halt.
And then, Taiyang’s palm connected with Camlann’s aegis. The martial artist interposed trigram formations onto the bony surface, and the characters erupted.
An explosion of fire sundered the Grimm’s shell off its wielder’s body, and with it, a number of scales from Camlann’s armor. The previous attacks from Qrow and Summer’s Shrike combo set up enough damage for the bone to rupture.
Taiyang had to concentrate a majority of his Aura into the blow, but the result was irrefutable. He was about to finish the Grimm off, when Blake almost severed his arm with both her blades.
A low chime resounded, and Taiyang was shifted back to his comrades’ side with Summer’s hand wrapped around his.
“Honestly, must I do everything?” the Witch rolled her eyes and scowled.
She drew a number of Bane shards from her pouch, and knocked them to the back of her throat. Taking so much of the substance led to a thick mist engulfing her body. Only a pair of haunting amber spheres with thin slits was visible through the fog.
Suddenly, nine shadows of giant cats erupted from the clouds. Their yellow eyes mimicked their original, as they pounced at Summer, Qrow, and Taiyang from different directions. The attack not only distracted them, but obscured their vision. And it was there, Blake found her opening.
“A bit underhanded. But one shouldn’t really concern themselves with foul play when carrying out one’s destiny.”
Blake’s actual body turned to the wounded Camlann, and reached out.
“And so, the wheels of fate resume their turn.”
Summer and Knives shared another vision of the future. This one, more vivid than the others. Its events overlapped the present with exact likeness.
With a callous motion, Blake grasped the base of Camlann’s sword-arm, and ripped it from its shoulder.
“GRAAAAHHHHH!!!!” the monster wailed in pain.
The Witch paid the creature no mind, as she held the Grimm’s torn limb weightlessly in her hand. Within the same breath, she threw it with a flick of her shoulder.
The point of the sword made-javelin, soared towards its target with frightening speed.
“Ah…” Temujin exhaled.
“So, this is how my story ends.”

.
The moment she closed her eye, Temujin felt a symphony of echoes cascade around her.
“All I wanted was for Raven to stay.”
“Vacuo will not die!”
“Where is Temujin?!”
“I have to get back to Cinder!”
“Is Yang alright?”
“Blake’s here! I need to see her!”
“The world will start over.”
“How will the Strongest survive now?”
““TEMUJIN!!!””
Her conscious slipped deeper into the darkness. Her corporeal sense homed in to the figure floating before her. A woman cloaked in ghostly white whispered.
“I know your dreams, too.”
Summer’s smile could barely be gleaned beneath her hood.
“You do, do you?” Temujin questioned.
“Temujin, the fabled Fang of Vacuo and Great Khan. Hero of the Third Crusade and Savior of the Faunus people.”
“I am a plague and a tyrant. The worst kind. One that is championed by the people.”
“That’s not what you are.”
“I’ve sent countless to their deaths, and have taken the lives of countless more. Do you know what I feel after all of that?”
“What?”
“Nothing.” Temujin chuckled mockingly, as if to accost herself. “Nothing.”
“That’s not true. You and I know that. If you didn’t, you wouldn’t be trying so hard to find a way to die.”
“My death will serve as small recompense, and it is all I can offer.”
“Like I said, I know your dreams—your wish.”
“…”
“It hasn’t changed since the day you were reborn in the desert. It hasn’t changed since you were a little girl. And it’s no different from your brother’s, from Raven’s, or from any of your people’s.”
“I was a tyrant, or I was very much close to becoming one.”
“You wanted prosperity. You wished for your people to live free, strong, and with pride. You taught your loved ones to take charge of their own destinies. That’s the opposite of a tyrant.”
“I sacrificed them without regret.”
“You wanted to save them at any cost. And you always regretted…You just never allowed yourself to face it until now.”
Temujin felt something prick her heart. It hurt more than any wound she suffered in battle. It spread and overwhelmed her with a sickening nausea.
““TEMUJIN!!!””
Several cries echoed around them. Voices of many she recognized. They were reaching out for her with all they could, with every desperate measure.
“Can you hear them?” Summer asked. “Will you really ignore them?”
“…”
“They’re willing to do anything to save you, like you would for them. They don’t care what Grimm they have to face, or fight whatever the Witch brings, or even if an army of immortals stood in their way.”
“…Idiots.”
“They’d break any rule. They’d ignore whatever the fates wished.”
“All of them…idiots,” Temujin worded with a shiver.
“Yes. We all are.”
“I wish I could deny them.”
“You can’t. That’s the nature of wishes. Sometimes they’re the same, sometimes they’re different and they conflict with each other. And they all vary in strength.”
“…”
“Your wish to die a noble death?”
“…”
“It’s actually pretty weak,” Summer grinned. “There are two especially who are really stubborn and good at fighting yours and fate’s wishes.”
“I wonder who that would be?”
“You can make a guess.”

.
Temujin opened her eye to the sound of shattering glass. Somethings or someones had broken through the windows of the throne room. And a pair of familiar figures rushed into her field of vision. Their outstretched hands trying to stop Camlann’s sword from piercing her.
The worry on their faces was something she felt guilty about cherishing. It was a sight she would engrave into her memory for the rest of her life.
Not bad for the last thing I’ll ever see.
.

.
Summer and Knives watched the prediction play out, and then diverge into two clear paths. The culmination of all their efforts led to this single crossroad.
Summer activated her Semblance along with her Maiden’s Inheritance. The consequences of forcing her abilities through a proxy would exact an unbearable price. But a price Knives would have paid a hundred times over.
Her shade flickered to Raven’s side. Summer’s hands grasped the sword at her waist and cast the Grimm sleeping within to a deep slumber.
That should nullify Salem’s contract for a little bit.
Now, do what you need to do.
.

.
Raven and Yang launched themselves from Ilia’s airship, through the windows of the throne room. They watched the claymore fly towards Temujin in slow motion. The mother and daughter willing everything to reaching the elder woman in time.
They were close enough to see the peaceful expression on Temujin’s face. The expression of one that accepted their fate as sealed. A spirit of resignation.
But they would never allow such a thing.
As Temujin opened her eye once more to see them rush to her aid, she could tell what they were thinking without them saying a word.
““FUCK FATE!””
The Grimm blade pierced its mark and blood was spilt. Yang and Raven caught its edge with their barehands, and ripped it away before it could bore any deeper into Temujin’s skull. The monstrous arm was flung to a nearby wall, while the two caught the old Faunus on each side.
“Temujin! Speak to me! Don’t you dare die on me, you old bat!!!” Raven shouted desperately.
“Hey!” Yang also cried with tears in her eyes. “Come on! You don’t get to die just like that! This is bullshit! Wake the hell up, grandma!!!”
There was only silence.
Then,
“Mmm…!” Temujin grumbled incoherently for a moment. “Damn it.”
She lifted her hand to check what used to be her remaining eye.
“Bastard took the other one.”
“You stupid, old bitch!” Raven pressed her head into Temujin’s chest, sobbing uncontrollably. “Who gives a fucking damn about your eye! You’re still alive!”
“I give a damn. It was my last one…”
“Well…! At least you can’t make fun of how I look right now.”
“Yes. But I don’t think I’ll ever forget how you and Yang had the same sniveling noses when you thought I was going to die.”
“You’re the worst!” Yang said with tearful laughter.
“You really are,” Raven agreed.
*Clap*
*Clap*
*Clap*
Raven and Yang turned to the source of sarcastic applause. Their tempers instantly flaring with unquenchable hate.
“Bravo,” the Witch ended with one more clap. “I do love theater.”
“Salem…” Yang snarled.
“Oh, no. Not Salem,” Blake corrected. “Salem is no more. I am the Witch now. Not merely a host, but the legitimate article.”
The girl smirked, and gave a flick of her wrist. A dark grimoire appeared aloft in her hand.
“And with it, comes all my immortal capabilities. I’m sure you must understand what that means, Raven.”
The swordswoman only glared silently.
“You are now outmatched. And in the process, failed to stop me from taking Miss Belladonna’s body,” the Witch glowered. “You, as well, Yang Xiao Long. You failed your former partner and lover. Like mother, like daughter, I suppose. Tradition as old as rhyme.”
“We’ll see if you’re still singing that same tune, when I rip you out of Blake like the leech you are!!” Yang roared. “I’ll save her!”
“Oh, I’m sure you believe that, dear. But then again, how will you save this girl when you can’t even save yourself?”
Blake’s nine clones assembled beside the original. From the grimoire, a number of emblems flew from its pages, and engraved themselves into the replications. Each lent a certain special characteristic to its wielder.
Blake’s shadows then, leapt to attack. Multiple unique Semblances were activated in tandem. Every one of them with an ability previously recorded in the Witch’s grimoire.
“Nightingale!” Summer called out.
Raven’s body moved almost of its own accord. The blade of a katana grew from the underside of her wrist, like an extension of her forearm. She moved in concert with her partner. Traces of Summer’s Aura within her soul sang in harmony with her beloved’s.
The pair’s figures blinked in and out intermittently across the throne room, parrying the various strikes of Blake’s clones. A melodious song weaved through the wind of their every step. A lethal duet they had not performed in years, but a rhythm they comfortably fell into.
In the meantime, Taiyang snapped to a responsibility only he could fulfill. He rushed to Temujin’s side, dodging the apparitions of the Witch along the way, while protected by Summer and Raven.
Once he reached the elder, Taiyang laid his palm across her bleeding eye socket. The glowing characters of his Semblance transposed onto her. The blood stopped and the wound cauterized.
“She’ll be fine for now,” he said to a worried Yang. “Right now, we need to—”
His words were cut short, as Adam’s blade was barely blocked by Yang’s gauntlet. A slash that would have otherwise cleared Taiyang’s neck.
“Damn…! Could you give a girl a break?!”
Adam only frothed at the mouth, not seeming to understand anything.
“You no longer have the resources to fight, Yang Xiao Long,” all of Blake’s clones said at once. “Your soul is spent.”
“That’s fine, though!” Summer interrupted. Her pair of rose chakrams fending of the rapid flourishes of Gambol Shroud. “Our team will take it from here.”
“Hmph. The illustrious STRQ Team. A shadow of an exaggerated legend. It wasn’t so long ago you were at bitter odds with one another. Do you truly expect to work under such faulty pretenses?”
“Harbinger!”
As soon as the call went out, Summer withdrew to conserve Knives’ strength, and Raven and Qrow dashed shoulder to shoulder.
“Still remember how to do this, little brother?”
“I can take the lead if you’re feeling forgetful.”
“Just make sure you keep up.”
As the Branwens flew to their targets, they left a trail of black feathers in their wake. Raven saw the Death in their enemies. Thin red threads outlined the fatal flaws in Adam and Blake’s bodies, guiding her blade. Her movements, in turn, paved the path for Qrow’s.
The younger sibling’s Reaper Semblance synchronized with his sister’s. Each fall of Raven’s attack was followed by Qrow’s scythe. The lethal one-two combo decimated the shadows of the Witch. But as her clones fell one after another, the main body only paid attention to Camlann’s sword-arm embedded in the wall.
Blake ripped it from its spot, turning it over in inspection. She then, paid the wounded Grimm with a pitiful look. The knight was still on one knee, leaning on its broken shield for support.
“Do not worry, Camlann. Your wish will be fulfilled yet.”
Blake held out the dismembered limb towards its owner. Dark tendrils sprouted, connecting the two with an eerie Magic. The grotesque sinew pulsated and crunched, until the knight’s body was devoured into the sword. A new cursed artifact was born.
“Hm,” Blake marveled, holding the claymore upright. “This may be one of my finest works yet.”
Dark lightning traveled up and down the artifact’s edge. An ominous bloody glow irradiated its hilt to its ridge. One test swing made the wind roar with a murderous storm.
Who first?
Perhaps, Yang Xiao Long?
Temujin would also make a fine test.
The Witch loosened and retightened her grip on the new version of Camlann. She also rechecked the control over her body.
The assimilation is progressing smoothly.
Enough of it seems complete, in that Blake can no longer interfere.
The girl bolted for where Yang and Temujin rested.
“Summer!” Raven shouted upon noticing.
“Don’t worry,” Summer whispered within her. “We won’t let anything happen to either of them. We’re with you.”
Raven stopped in her tracks, and felt a familiar Magic swell within her. It was an ability she used only a handful of times. Like the Magic Ozpin granted her and her brother, which let them transform into birds, Salem granted Raven something as well.
It was in no small way one of the reasons Temujin was able to overcome the Third Crusade and go blow for blow against the previous Spring Maiden.
“Onimaru!” Summer called.
Raven’s form warped and twisted. The core of her soul was drawn out from within, while her physical body retracted in its opposite. The purest derivative of her Semblance and personality was borne in the shape of an Odachi.
Raven’s alternate form shone with the deepest black steel. A thick, viscous smog drifted along its spine, like oil floating in water. Simply keeping still, its ink painted the canvas of the atmosphere. Beautiful, ceremonial threads of crimson decorated its handle, while tassels weaved from its end like a tail.
At the same time, Summer’s figure blinked in Blake’s path with a low ring. Raven’s sword form flew to her partner’s grasp. As the two made contact, their wills and strengths became one. The braids of the Odachi wrapped Summer’s arm, fusing their Auras.
A rush of chaotic energy exploded from the godly blades meeting each other. Camlann’s wrath electrified the air around them. Raven’s brushstroke reaped death with each breath.
“I can’t believe you’re here, Summ.”
“Really? I can,” Summer replied to the echoes of the sword.
“How did you know this was going to happen?”
“Cause I knew we could make it. Because I knew this was what we wished for.”
A shockwave caused the pillars in the room to crumble slightly. Blake and Summer traded blows with their greatswords an immeasurable amount of times. Each exchange rippled the fabric of reality, bringing forth influences from the Never Realm.
The lightning from Camlann intertwined with the fiery ink of Raven’s calligraphy. Summer felt her hand guided by her partner’s embedded technique. A devastating horizontal slash and reverse was performed like the flight of a swallow’s return. Meanwhile, Blake thrust Camlann with a force culminated from the wrath of thousands of fallen Crusaders.
The roof tore open and the combination of thunder and brush streaks scarred the sky.
“This is what should have been,” Summer said. “This is what we should have done all those years ago.”
In spite of the clash of cataclysmic proportions, or perhaps because the situation demanded the partners’ inner hearts to unite, Summer and Raven’s inner thoughts were shared.
“We should never have left you alone.”
“It’s not your fault, Summ. I made my choice to leave the team. I needed to save Temujin.”
“And I’m saying we should have gone with you. It doesn’t matter the reasons. We all wanted the same thing in our own ways.”
“…”
“But it’s today we do it right.”
As Summer finished the thought, Raven realized what she meant. A warmth she hadn’t felt for so long brimmed like a mad joy.
Taiyang, Qrow, and Summer were here with her. STRQ Team was reunited, here in Vacuo. Together, they were saving her home and helping her protect Temujin. It was like a dream come true.
“…I love you, Summ.”
“Hehe! I love you, too!”
“Hey, Tai? You get the feeling we’re missing something important?” Qrow appeared.
“Dunno,” Taiyang shrugged. “But I’ll tell ya, I haven’t enjoyed a fight like this in a long while!”
Synchronizing their assault with their leader, the two men joined their teammates on each side. The complete onslaught of STRQ Team became an overwhelming contest against the Witch, who’s hands were failing to keep up.
It was then, Blake felt heat tickle just above her shoulder. She ducked the sneak attack, vanishing to an empty space of the chamber. The fist of a blazing gold narrowly missed her.
“Damn it! If I wasn’t running so low on fumes, I would’ve gotten you!” Yang complained.
In the break from her opponents, Blake made a quiet assessment of her situation. Temujin was barely hanging on to her life. STRQ Team were a formidable threat, but they were approaching their limits, especially with Summer possessing Knives. And Yang was in the worst condition of them all.
On the Witch’s side, her only ally in Adam was overdosed on Bane and crippled by fatal injuries. Her strength, complimented by Camlann’s artifact, could overwhelm STRQ Team over time. The problem was the newness of her vessel.
Blake was strong. The Witch had been preparing her body for some time now, but the demise of “Salem” came earlier than expected. Contrary to her earlier bluff, the young Faunus wasn’t completely capable of harnessing all her Magic yet. If the battle continued, she would risk the same long-term damages Knives was accruing from Summer’s possession. It was too early for the Witch to sacrifice her new vessel. That is, unless the benefit outweighed the penalty.
And then, there was still the previous host trying to break control.
“…Yang!” Blake cried.
“…
“You have to end me!”
Yang recognized the tone as her former partner’s. There was no questioning it. Whether the Witch was letting the personality surface on purpose didn’t matter.
“Yang—!”
“No.” Yang shook her head. “I’m not killing you, Blake. Not ever.”
“Please…! You have to!”
“Did you really just expect me to say, ‘Sure! No problem’?” she flashed a confident smile. “I’m going to save you no matter what.”
“…Really? After all that’s happened?”
“You’ll never stop being important to me. Things change, but that never will. I’m coming for you.”
Yang lowered into a fighting stance. The engines of her Ember Celica gave a violent sputter before firing its afterburners. Red painted her eyes.
It wasn’t just Yang, but STRQ Team also readied to resume their desperate battle. Haggard or not, they held the same unwavering determination as the younger. The idea of taking Blake’s life never crossed their minds.
“Hm,” the Witch remarked with amusement. “I can use that. If you’re not willing to destroy this body to defeat me, then I won’t have to worry about—”
“Blake?”
The young girl’s ears perked at hearing the familiar voice. It felt like her heart suddenly stopped beating, and her breath was taken away. The Witch couldn’t force the body to move the way she wanted.
“Blake, you promised me, right?” Ilia approached. “You remember? You still in there?”
“…Illy. D-don’t…!” Blake staggered back, clutching her head. “Don’t come near me…!”
“Blake,” Ilia stepped closer. “It’s time to come home. It’s time to come back to me. I’m right here.”
“Stop! I can’t hold her back!”
“Yes. You can.”
“She’s too strong!”
“You’re stronger!”
Ilia was now close enough, and grasping Blake’s hands. The sword of Camlann fell to the side.
“I love you, Blake.”
The lines in the girl’s face knitted with anguish, while the black in her eyes warped. Two souls within the body warred for influence. The yellow glow in her irises shimmered with change. Then, in a tone that was completely genuine,
“I love you, too, Illy. I haven’t forgotten our promise,” Blake nodded tearfully.
Her soft expression hardened, as she turned to her former partner. A quiet determination burned there.
“Yang?”
“Yeah, Blake. I promise I’ll bring you back to Ilia.”
“……Thank you.”
“I’ll see you soon.”
Blake smiled, and returned to Ilia with a meaningful look. She leaned in to leave a soft kiss on her lips, before stepping firmly away.
“It’ll be a little longer, I think,” she said apologetically.
“Don’t keep me waiting too long,” Ilia replied with a sorrowful grin.
“I’ll try not to.”
A thick black smog swirled Blake’s body, and engulfed the entire throne room for a moment. When it dissipated, the girl was gone.
Ilia looked to Yang.
It was no secret she harbored a lot of resentment towards her. But it was in this moment, the two completely understood one another. The determination to save the same cherished person was a bond a long time coming. A wordless vow was shared.
“So,” Yang started awkwardly. “Does that mean we’re friends now?”
And just as quick as the understanding formed, so too did it break as Ilia clicked her tongue with annoyance.
“Not on your life, Xiao Long.”
“—Not until you get Blake back for me.”

.
Summer’s strength abruptly left her and her grip on Raven with a sudden jolt. Her small body went limp, like it was struck with instant paralysis.
Raven dropped to her human form and caught her.
“Summer! Summer, what’s wrong?!”
The misty visage of the woman evaporated to reveal Knives heaving heavy breaths. Her sweating chest raised and fell, like her tiny body had just been freed from carrying an impossible burden. The Silver in her irises pale—before cracking open completely.
“Summer…” Temujin groaned. “What have you done…?”
“It’s the price for channeling my Semblance and the Maiden’s Inheritance,” Summer’s voice came distantly from Knives’ lips. “It’s supposed to be impossible under any other circumstance. But Knives is a very exceptional girl, Temujin. You should be proud.”
“…”
“She’ll be blind from now on. Her Semblance is gone, too.”
“What?!”
“Knives understood what it would take from the beginning and the risks that would come with me possessing her. And she did it, anyway. If you want to blame me, I’m fine with that.”
“Knives…” Temujin wept. “Knives, why for someone like me?”
“The same reason you would do anything for her.”
“Damn it…! Stupid girl!”
“Love and stupid go together a lot,” Summer gave a small, deprecating chuckle. “Raven?”
“Yeah,” the woman clutched the girl’s hand, while she stared blankly into nothing. “I’m here, Summ. We’re all here.”
“Sorry, I kinda sprung all this without warning. I’m sure you all have questions.”
“Only about a thousand of them, but what’s new?” Raven gave a stifled chuckle.
“I missed you. All of you. But like all things that are too good to be true—”
“They don’t last.”
“Nope. No, they don’t.”
Summer sat up with painful effort. Although she was blind, she seemed to sense where everyone was, as she turned to each as she spoke.
“Qrow, Ruby needs as much training as possible before the final battle. It’s only half, but she needs to learn how to use the Maiden’s Inheritance too.”
“Seriously? You appear out of nowhere, possessing some girl, and that’s all you have to say to me?”
“Your leader’s orders are absolute.”
“Heh!” Qrow wiped his eyes. “Haven’t heard that for way too long.”
“And don’t forget to give Yang the Relic.”
“How do you—never mind. Of course, you know.”
“Tai, once I leave Knives’ body, I won’t be able to regulate her Aura. Use your Semblance to keep her from dying.”
“Yeah, alright,” Taiyang sighed. “You got it. Leader’s orders.”
Summer produced Raven’s old sword, and handed it to its rightful owner.
“The Grimm inside it will wake once I leave Knives. Once it does, your contract with the Witch continues.”
“I figured as much,” Raven answered bitterly, as she took the sword. A familiar dread bound her soul to the accursed weapon once again.
“We’ll talk more when the time is right,” Summer promised all of them. “I’m not supposed to be here in the first place, so I’ll hold off on hearing all your complaints for the moment!”
The rest of STRQ Team chuckled at their leader’s words.
“And, Yang?”
Yang swallowed hard as she stepped towards her.
“I’ll see you and Ruby in Menagerie.”
“………Alright, mom…” she answered uneasily. Yang tried to control the emotion rising in her throat, but it only made her hiccup painfully.
“I’m so proud of how far you’ve come. Just a little bit longer now. I know you can do it.”
“……Alright, mom.”
Summer smiled fondly. The edges of her lips then, relaxed and her eyelids drifted close. Summer’s presence receded, and the original host of the body became its only occupant.
“Well,” Raven nonchalantly stood with a huff. “That didn’t go as terribly as it could have gone.”
“You mean, us being a Team again?” Taiyang clarified.
“Mostly because Summer was here. You two bozos were extras.”
“Of course,” Qrow rolled his eyes. “Would it kill you to just say something nice to us once in a while?”
Raven opened her mouth, and then closed it.
“…Thank you. Both of you. For coming.”
Taiyang and Qrow blinked with surprise, before breaking into embarrassed smiles.
“Oh god,” Taiyang massaged the back of his neck. “I feel old.”
“You, too, huh?” Qrow chuckled.
The three shared a quiet moment together. A small rewrite of history. The day STRQ Team disbanded was overwritten with today’s reunion, no matter how brief.
“Qrow, Tai,” Raven spoke. “You look better. Less drunk and depressed than I’ve seen in a long time. Make sure whoever’s looking after your sorry asses keeps doing it.”
““Uh huh…”” they both groaned, looking away.
“And just in case you idiots get any dumb ideas, know that we’re still enemies after this. The same goes for you too, Yang.”
“I know, mom,” the daughter rolled her eyes. “I’m coming for you too, you know. Blake’s not the only one I’m dragging back home.”
“…Don’t get cocky. Well, then. I guess I’ll see you all on the full moon.”
Raven turned and was about to leave, when she stopped.
“Take care of yourself, you old prune.”
“As much as a blind woman can,” Temujin waved vaguely.
“And don’t,” she paused. “Don’t do something stupid like trying to kill yourself again! Or I swear, I’ll stop you just so I can kill you myself.”
“Oh ho ho! Who taught you to speak that way?”
“……I really thought I lost you this time.”
“……I’m sorry, Raven.”
“The most stubborn old woman in Remnant apologizing. This really is the end for Vacuo.”
Raven drew her blade, and sliced open a portal.
“Get out of here, while you still can.”

With the battle in the Hanging Gardens finished, Yang made her way to the throne room’s balcony.
Dusk was now setting in, as she saw smoke stacks rising from the North, West, and South. The armies of Grimm were still launching their endless assault on the capital despite their master’s retreat. From the looks of it, it was only a matter of time before they broke through the Walls and Vacuo was lost.
“Really can’t catch a break,” Yang sighed into the wind.
She basked in the somber moment, while Qrow joined her side.
“How are ya, kiddo?”
“Are we talking physically, mentally, or emotionally? Not that the answer isn’t the same for all of the above…”
“I hear that.”
“How’s Knives and Temujin?”
“Your dad’s making sure they’re stable until medical teams arrive.”
Yang paused.
“……And Adam?”
“The Bane’s taken its toll, but he’ll live.”
“Ilia bringing the airship around yet?”
“Soon enough. You sure you still wanna do this, kid? Don’t know how much good you can do in your condition.”
“The war goes on,” Yang gave a tired shrug. “My team’s still out there. And I need to make sure there’s something here when the Atlesian Fleet arrives. I can’t just let Vacuo fall like this. Not after everything.”
“Yeah, I figured as much. You know, we might actually die before we see Summer again at this rate,” Qrow commented, while observing the continuous swarms of Grimm in the distance.
“Since when is anything in life guaranteed?”
“True.”
Qrow reached in his pocket, and pulled out a chess piece.
“Ozpin wanted you to have this.”
“The Relic from Beacon’s exam?” she cocked her head. The Maiden Inheritance within her resonated with the object’s appearance. “What…is it?”
“It’s a memento from the Old One. Titan’s last gift to the Children of Remnant.”
“It’s not going to take over my body, is it?”
“I will admit, it’s similar to the cane Ozpin left. But no, you’re not going to be the next vessel for anybody. Titan’s gone. I’m pretty sure, as a Maiden, you felt that.”
“Yeah…” Yang took the chess piece in her hand and examined it.
Without a second thought, she channeled her Aura through, and felt something funnel back. A wealth of information flooded her brain, or more accurately, an insight. Her very concept of the world shifted ever so slightly, but nonetheless significantly.
“Yang?” Qrow checked.
“I think… I just learned Magic,” Yang muttered in disbelief.
“Seriously?”
“Kind of. I can’t…use it exactly, cause I’ve never done it before but…” Yang was in the process of organizing her newfound thoughts. “They’re more like instructions, but not?”
“Anything in there to help us out at all?”
“One specific thing, as a matter of fact. But I need some time.”
Yang tapped her in-ear communications.
“Em! Minerva! Nai! How long will the Walls hold out the Grimm?”
“Yang?! I guess from the sounds of it, Temujin hasn’t bit the dust!” Emerald replied.
“Wait, what do you mean? Temujin was in danger?” Minerva questioned in surprise.
“We can talk about that piece of drama later,” Yang cut them off. “How are the Walls?”
“We are holding defenses here in the Northern theater,” Minerva answered.
“We are somehow also managing the Southern Walls,” Nai checked in.
“Looks like the West is where it’s gonna fold,” Emerald said. “Bean’s doubling down over here. There’s more Grimm being committed to this sector. It’s probably gonna hold for another hour, maybe two tops. Then, we’re fucked up the ass.”
“Damn it! That’s not enough time!”
Yang slammed her fist on the guardrail. Her mind was quickly thinking of ways to prolong the battle. Minerva and Nai could move to assist Emerald, but they would take too much time. Their respective areas could also fall in their absence.
They needed more. More time, more people than they had, more resources, but any resemblance of anything like that was still too far away.
They needed a miracle.
Yang’s radio suddenly crackled, followed by a voice from one she didn’t expect to hear.
“Do not lose heart,” Cinder’s words resounded confidently from the other end.
“Immediate reinforcements are inbound.”
