Lake at Dawn We stayed at a private campground near Terrace, British Columbia, for one night. It was “boondocking,” meaning that we jut pulled into a large field with no power or other utilities. I was up early and saw that the lake looked great. I like the first image best, but the second image was also very good so I posted both of them. MWM

I love The Owl House so much but can we talk about the way the plot escalated in 3 seasons:

Season 1: yay magic! explore the world, fall in love, make a new found family, oh! and fight a dictator for a door in the last episode

Season 2: unravel a government conspiracy, be gayer and fight against said dictator but now to stop him from committing genocide

Season 3: fight fucking God

Rewatching Witches Before Wizards is such a surreal experience tbh.

Adegasts whole "The prophecy speaks of a young human girl who will claim the celestial staff and free this world from an ancient evil" turned out to be true... in an episode that explicitly states Luz ISN'T a chosen one and she's not going to get what she wants out of TBI.

So that's - hm. that's weird

... It's weird how Luz actually does receive her staff and frees the world from an ancient evil because she won the favor of a god who can see into the future and the past... the glyphs are also given to her by this god.

And then this show has the audacity to like, completely barrel head first into becoming a wishfullment story by making the villain absent in season 1. Luz gets to live her little Azura fantasy, despite the show saying she isn't going to get her little Azura fantasy.

The other surreal part of this episode is Adegast and Nevareth being used as foreshadowing for Belos and Hunter. And it's like, really interesting to me, because Belos also uses Hunter - a prince - as an extension of his power like Adegast does with Nevareth. And just like Adegast, Belos is an illusionist - except he doesn't need to cast illusions to manipulate you. He simply creates narratives to further his goals.

See, I could forgive season 1 being for like that IF it turned out this entire season was Belos' teehee haha psyop prank on Luz. But it's not... TOH is just a wishfullfillment story that tried to trick you into thinking it's not.

This just makes the Kiss in SAI even more suspicious in retrospect...

dana terrace knows how fandoms work. she knows if you show ppl even the barest hint of an m/f couple, especially one involving an angsty white boy, ppl will jump on that shit like rabid dogs and itll completely overshadow whatever queer rep you want ppl to actually pay attention to. that’s why she introduced hunter the way she did. first they have an episode where luz gets kissed by a girl and it’s made clear to the audience that they’re on track to be each others love interests. and only then does she introduce hunter’s angsty blond YA love interest looking ass.

and even then they tried SUPER hard to hammer in how much hunter is NOT luz’s love interest. they make luz lean in as if she was going to kiss him and then smack him to show that she isn’t going to. and then they do that thing where hunter licks luz’s hand and luz wipes it on his face. which is something that has been memed to death with siblings. just so the audience immediately understands what kind of dynamic the show wants these two to have. if they skipped any of these steps they were worried the fandom would see luz have a close relationship with a conventionally attractive white boy and start foaming at the mouth for this ship to replace lumity. maybe if disney saw a boy and a girl who aren’t immediately sibling coded they’d also start foaming at the mouth for it to replace lumity. so the crew had to play it safe.

anyway my point is i hope the crew also knows what they’re doing with the huntlow ship. idk what they’re setting up but if the huntlow ship gets together and it’s not wedged between a full 10 minute clip of the raeda wedding and a full 10 minute clip of a sappy slice of life lumity date then every toh related tag is going to be INSUFFERABLE and i hope dana knows it.
