my personal opinions on byler & mike’s character

most people believe mike is clueless or at least he just suspects will’s feelings. well, sometimes i agree with that but in general i think mike knows. actually he always knew. let’s look at everything from the beginning.

both mike and will always lived in a small town full of homophobia. we know will personally experienced homophobia from his dad and other people in hawkins. mike and will are friends since kindergarten and mike obviously witnessed all of these homophobia will went through. maybe mike experienced it too, we know ted said “see what happens?” for a reason. especially with lonnie, mike witnessed everything he did to will, we all know will shares everything with mike. so from their point of view, this thing called “homosexuality” is something really bad and all it causes is harm and hate. it’s something forbidden.

now let’s see what happened in all seasons. in season 1, a cool girl magically comes into mike’s life and shows interest in him. “you’re blind, because a girl is not grossed out by you” now mike has a chance to be normal like people expect him to be. and he’s a child, it’s not that deep. he can try. no deep feelings, no love, just be normal.

in season 2 this chance is taken away from mike leaving a trauma to him. after all, el was special and he cares for her so much. and the fact that she sacrificed herself just to save him and his friends is not something we can overlook. and adding to this trauma, something really bad is happening to will and they don’t even know what is it and how to fix it. he does his best, he never leaves his side because it’s something a good friend would do right? it wasn’t that forbidden thing the adults get angry about and it shouldn’t be. after el’s return and will being safe, mike had this chance again. el was here, she was incredible, a superhero who saved will and the world, and she was ready to be in a relationship with him. snowball scene was mike telling will “i’m moving on, you should move on too or we will get hurt by this.” because you know, these things always hurt will and nothing else.

in season 3, mike continues to this “moving on” as we can clearly see. this time a little bit grown up, or at least trying to grow up. distancing himself from will and all his friends, focusing on el all the time and for some reason not being able to maintain a friendship with will while dating el. this speaks volumes actually. it’s both him trying to be normal as expected and distancing himself from will to make sure he is normal too. to me that’s all the “it’s not my fault you don’t like girls.” scene. while mike is fighting back, will makes it harder for both of them without realizing it. i think -like everyone- the ending of season 3 was mike realizing it’s not working and it’s getting serious. he’s growing up, they’re growing up and everything is becoming clearer.

will and el moving to california was a new chance for mike. he ignored will, well at least he tried even though it’s clear he felt his absence especially in school, he didn’t reach out to him thinking maybe this is the chance for both of them to move on. and then el’s letter happened. mike thought will really did it, he moved on, he was able to move on while mike isn’t. if we think deeper, he is even working on a painting for her, something he used to do with mike. so yeah, will is normal, it worked for will, while mike is still dealing with this. when they reunite i think it was much more than just jealousy. disappointment, anger maybe? especially after he saw he brought the painting to the airport. apparently will wasn’t planning on giving all his attention to mike, who was visiting him after months, but he was planning to give the painting to the girl he likes, it was probably the reason of his excitement, not mike. so this is what makes mike want to focus on el more and ignore will during rinkomania scenes. when el mentions angela and will gives a reaction to this, mike is sure he was right and this day is about angela for will.

but he finds out he was wrong. well, the painting is still for a girl but at least he was wrong about angela. will was just upset because mike was being lied to, and he was hurt by mike being distant from him. this is what leads mike to sincerely apologize to will, as always. he always does that, if will says “where is dustin right now?” mike realizes his mistake and tries to fix it. if will says “we used to be best friends” mike realizes his mistake and offers to be best friends again. that’s all their dynamic about.

after mike and el’s fight, mike comes and explains what happened to will but it’s more like he is asking for an advice, he wants will to understand him. “it was a fight that you can’t come back from.” he wants will to agree but he doesn’t, this is when we start to understand mike’s inner struggles. he brings up this topic to will three times. none of these conversations are like two best friends giving each other relationship advices because mike never tells will what is the problem. for some reason he doesn’t want will to know he can’t tell her girlfriend that he loves her. we all know will and mike are sincere enough to tell these things to each other, they always do. but if he can’t, there must be a reason. maybe mike himself doesn’t know the answer either, maybe he doesn’t want will to understand his situation because he thinks will successfully moved on, who knows?

in the desert scene, he brings the topic up again, without mentioning what is “that thing”, but this time will seems like he understands. “sometimes, i think it’s just scary to open up like that, to say how you really feel, especially to the people you care about the most.” mike never mentioned he is struggling to say how he feels but will understand, he always did. this conversation would continue with mike opening up to will if it wasn’t interrupted, so mike brings it up once again for the third time, in the van scene.

this time he is being more open but he is still struggling to say one thing, which will completes for him “you’re scared of losing her.” well, mike was wrong. will wasn’t getting it until.. the painting scene. mike is not stupid, he knows will spent days working on it. he knows eleven doesn’t know about what this painting is about. he knows he doesn’t make el feel like “she is not a mistake at all” especially after their fight, remember that line from the script “she’s already beginning to understand she doesn’t need me, i saw it in her eyes” he knows el doesn’t need him, he knows will well enough to understand he is lying. the way he looks at will admiringly is him thinking “he didn’t move on, we’re still the same.” and also him being aware of what will is doing for him, breaking his own heart and sacrificing himself just to make mike feel better. also, he notices will is sobbing, he looks at him and even if he didn’t how could he not? he had tears in his eyes during all the monologue and he was sobbing right next to him. so is there any reason for mike to not say anything to his best friend sobbing next to him if he didn’t know the reason? the mike i know would immediately ask what was wrong if he was clueless. he knows why will is crying but he doesn’t know what to do about it. mike’s situation is pretty sad when you think about it, he probably feels like he’s stuck.

then we have the desert reunion scene. this time we clearly can see how stuck he feels between el and will, he doesn’t know how to get out of this without hurting any of them, and also himself. the way he looks at them looks like also him being afraid of damaging their bond.

then the monologue scene.. this scene may mean lots of different things, i am not sure either.

it may be mike being aware of what will is doing, how he is sacrificing himself once again, how mike is gonna have to lie and hurt everyone in the end, how the things are gonna be way more complicated or mike realizing he was wrong about thinking will has feelings for him.

my season 5 expectation is seeing a mike wheeler who stops fighting back and embraces his feelings, without hurting both of them.

that’s my point of view that changes almost everyday lol. i don’t know if there are many people who believes mike isn’t clueless so i wanted to share my thoughts. 💛

Johnny Cade hc because I’m glad its the weekend

-Is a LOT tougher than the gang gives him credit for. A lot.

-To anyone who doesn’t know him well he looks incredibly intimidating

-Can make a fire out of nothing. It’s a skill he learned from spending a lot of nights in the lot when he doesn’t feel like bothering anyone, but tbh he’s honestly a bit of a pyro

-Is INCREDIBLY protective of Ponyboy, but knows Ponyboy hates feeling babied so he makes sure he never finds out.

-On multiple occasions he’s heard socs or some mouthier greasers talking shit about Ponyboy at school, and together with Steve and Two-bit beat them senseless without any of the Curtis boys ever finding out. There’s a mutual agreement between the three of them that Darry and Soda have enough to worry about without worrying about Pony getting jumped at school, and none of them wanna hurt Pony’s pride, not even Steve.

-Really appreciates that Pony is able to tell when he doesn’t wanna talk and answers for him. Pony never gets it wrong and sometimes talking feels like such an effort so Johnny is really glad to have such a good friend

-Was the last person in the gang to meet Dally, since he was nursing some pretty bad injuries when Dally first came to Tulsa, and was laying low

-Hates Curly Shepard with a burning passion. Partially because he can SEE how terrible of an influence Curly is on Ponyboy, but some of it is just straight up jealousy. In Johnny’s mind Ponyboy is HIS best friend and Curly better be ready to fight if he thinks he can just waltz out of the reformatory and try and take his place in Pony’s life. Their rivalry got so bad at one point that after the third fistfight Tim and Darry made a mutual agreement to try and keep Johnny and Curly away from each other (with limited success).

-He and Ponyboy encourage each other’s smoking habits because if one of them runs out of cigarettes the other usually has at least half a pack left

-One of the old cowboys at Buck’s bar taught him to line dance and he’s really good at it

-Is indifferent to country music but pretends to love it just because of how horrified and pissed off Ponyboy gets at the mere prospect

-Is the best in the gang at poker by a lot. It drives Soda and Dally crazy for different reasons. Soda is mostly incredulous, but Dally is wicked competitive and hates losing

-Was the first to notice Curly liked Ponyboy in a more than friendly way when he realised the way Curly was teasing Ponyboy was the exact same way Two-bit teased his many blondes- fond with an undercurrent of heat. As soon as he realised it he walked across the room and socked Curly in the jaw. Obviously they fought, and it took Ponyboy, Tim Shepard, and two others from the Shepard gang to pull them off each other. Pony ignored both of them for a week straight afterwards which is the only reason they established an uneasy truce.

-He and Pony mutter sarcastic shit to each other when the gang is all hanging out together and make up dumb reasons as to why they’re laughing if anyone notices

-He’s actually pretty good friend’s with Two-bit’s little sister since he crashes at Two’s house almost as much as he crashes with the Curtis’ or with Dally

-Cordially detests Angela Shepard. He thinks it’d be wrong to hit a girl but Angela is protective of Curly and doesn’t take kindly to the fact he and Curly can’t seem to stop fighting each other. He thinks she shouldn’t take Curly’s side- Tim certainly doesn’t. In any case, they trade glares and frosty remarks but never tussle any worse than that, though Angela swears she’ll stab him if he breaks Curly’s nose again.

-He and Ponyboy are banned from being on each others team for any board or card game requiring teams because they’re too good at reading each other’s minds (Soda and Steve are also banned from being on a team together for the same reason). 

-Once helped Steve steal the hubcaps off a socs car in the lot

-Is convinced that Ponyboy is afraid of girls (no matter how much Pony protests) and thinks its the funniest shit ever

“Anyone would think they’re dating,” Alice sighs in exasperation.

Bella follows the vampire’s gaze, noticing you and Jasper standing close together at your car. You’re gesturing wildly, eyes wide, excitement pouring off of you like usual. And Jasper’s just listening, a soft smile on his lips, one she’s only ever seen when the blond’s with you.

“Most of the school does,” she corrects, shoving her hands in her pockets, “Jessica brings it up all the time and Angela says she had to fight Eric to keep it out of the paper.”

Alice snorts softly, the sound somehow delicate. The humans love gossiping about their family, a fact that is unchanging wherever they go. She’s heard more than a few rumors about the two of you, and Jasper probably has too. You, however, remain blissfully unaware.

In her entire century of life, she had never met someone so completely oblivious.

“Does she know he’s flirting with her?” Bella asks, her brow furrowing as Jasper tucks a strand of hair behind your ear while you just keep talking a mile a minute, totally unphased. You, the girl who gets flustered at the drop of a hat with everything else.

“Oh, absolutely not,” Alice chirps matter-of-factly, “She has no clue that he likes her. It’s kind of sweet. But also maddening.”

“You’ve seen something about them?”

“Of course I have.” She sighs again, shaking her head. “It’s not even that, though! I don’t need a vision to know they’re perfect for each other. They’re both absolutely smitten with each other, but she’s even more oblivious than you.”

“Hey-!”

Jasper chuckles under his breath. You pause, head tilting as you follow his flickering gaze to the two girls standing at the other side of the lot. Alice has her hands propped on her hip, a smirk adorning her features as Bella turns impossibly red.

Curiosity washes over you. Eagerly, you whip back to Jasper. “What are they talking about?” 

“Bout you and me it seems, and they’re arguin’ about how…observant Bella is,” he murmurs, amusement clear in his tone.

You blink, pursing your lips a little, “They were talking about us?” 

“They were just wonderin’ if we are goin’ to the fall festival,” he lies smoothly. Jasper has no desire to expose you to the ugly rumor mill of this town. “What do you say, darlin? Want to go with me?”

“Yes! Yes, I’d love to! I’ve been thinking about that all week!” You squeak, confusion disappearing just like that.

The smile you give him is so bright, so genuine, it could cripple a weaker man. The blond has to bite his tongue, though, the desire to lean down and kiss you pulling at his chest viciously. He wants to see if your smile tastes as sweet as it looks…

 “We could see if they want to join us!” You continue, clapping your hands like a little kid. “Maybe that’s why they were talking about us. Oh, it’d be so fun to go as a group!”

The groan from across the parking lot is audible even to you.

Your groan gets cut off when you flop onto your bed and land face first in your fluffy comforter. It practically swallows you whole, you almost wish it would.

Bella watches, lips curling in amusement as she gently drops her backpack down and perches herself at your desk, “Jasper again?”

“-e’s su niiithee,” you whine, voice muffled.

“Try again.”

You turn over on your back, pouting at the ceiling, “He’s so nice.”

“He is.” Bella draws her knees up to prop her chin on and waits. The rant is inevitable.

“No, like, he’s so nice. You don’t understand, Bells.” You throw your arms in the air, letting them fall to the bed dramatically. “I’ve never met someone who’s just so nice. And he’s so pretty and charming and sometimes I just wish I could jump on him and hold on like a koala.”

“You could,” she points out, not missing a beat.

Propping up on your elbows, you can’t help but gasp at her, cheeks going positively red, “No I can’t! That would totally freak him out!”

“I think he’d like it more than you think.”

“Oh my gosh.” Your hands fly to your face, as if covering it will stop the blush from spreading down your neck. “You’re so mean to me, Bells. So crude.”

Bella snorts, “That’s not crude. And you’re oblivious.”

“Hello!” You yelp, sitting up. “Kettle calling the pot black!”

“It’s the other way around, actually.”

“Oh whatever,” you sigh, flopping back down. Your thoughts are always a mess when it comes to Jasper, and everyone teasing you like this doesn’t help. It’s easy when you’re with him, you kind of just forget about it all. He’s your best friend, afterall. A frown pulls at your lips. “And I’m not oblivious. We’re just really close friends. I think I’d know if he liked me or something…”

Bella has never been so close to strangling someone.

Eventually, a Cullen family meeting has to be held about the issue, despite Jasper’s reluctance.

“She’s clueless,” Bella groans, dropping onto the couch next to Edward.

Emmett snickers from his seat with Rosalie, “I thought we already knew that?”

“We did.” Alice sighs as if she’s mourning the thought. “But we’re afraid it’s worse than we originally thought. The girl is hopeless.”

“She is not,” Jasper chides, lingering on the edge of the group. A part of him doesn’t like having his family in the middle of this. It’s his relationship, or lack thereof. He hates feeling infantilized.

“Hush, Jasper.” Alice waves him off, earning a scowl from the blond. “You’re hopeless in your own ways. This is about (Y/n).”

“So what should we do?”

Jasper forces himself to take a long, calming breath. They mean well, he knows that. They always do. But their methods are usually far too…exaggerated. He might have considered asking for Esme’s advice, perhaps even Carlisle, but not Emmett, and most certainly not Alice. This is his decision to make, and he needs to go about it in his own way.

“Oh! Maybe we can hire someone-”

“That won’t be necessary,” he interrupts, cutting off whatever wild plan Emmett has concocted, drawing the family’s attention to himself. Jasper straightens up, giving them all a pointed look, “This is my business, and I will be taking care of it as I see fit. Thank you for your concern, but it is unnecessary.”

“What are you going to do, honey?” Esme speaks her first words of the evening, voice gentle and unassuming as always.

The blond softens, giving her a faint smile, “I’ll be straight with her.”

“But-” 

“Stay out of it, Alice.” The little ravenette pouts, though her eyes dance with excitement. A little push was all he needed, it seems. “It won’t do me any good if she learns of my feelings from one of you. It needs to be me. Even if I have to lay myself out plain for her to see.”

“If you’re sure that’s what you want, son,” Carlisle hums, relieved to take a step back. He wasn’t a fan of this plan from the start.

“It is.”

And it’s true. At one point, it didn’t feel like he had much control of his life, but now he does. And now he has you. It may just be a ‘matter of time’ thing, according to Alice’s vision, but he wants to do this right, at his own pace. 

Now, it’s just a question of how.

“Darlin…can we talk?”

“We are talking,” you giggle, writing down another formula.

“I mean a more serious talk.”

You blink, looking up from your chem textbook to meet a pair of nervous, gold eyes. Nervous? Jasper is nervous? Your brows furrow, concern immediately sparking in your chest.

“Is everything okay?” You ask, notes forgotten and thrown to the side. You can always study later. “What’s up, Jasper?”

“Everythin’s alright, just-” Jasper settles on the bed in front of you. He keeps a respectable distance, but reaches across to take your hand in his. You freeze. Eyes wide, you can’t stop yourself from staring at it. Your hands. Together. He’s holding your hand. Why is he holding your hand?

“Darlin?”

“Huh?” Oh right. You drag your gaze back up to him, catching a flicker of an amused smile on his lips. A blush creeps up your neck and you smile apologetically. “Sorry, sorry, um, what’s up?”

“I have something important to tell you,” he explains, thumb brushing over your knuckles in a way that is far too distracting. 

It helps calm your racing heart, though, because a part of you is terrified. You have no clue what he could possibly want to talk about that would warrant such seriousness. Unconscious, you end up holding your breath, waiting for him to continue.

“I like you, darlin.”

What?

You pause. Process. Confusion swirls through your concern.

“I like you too, Jazz, you’re my best friend,” you chime, tone completely lost and befuddled.

An incredulous laugh breaks past Jasper’s wall of nerves. The tension drips from his shoulders. It’s ridiculous. So ridiculous that he feels like he can finally say everything he’s ever wanted to say.

“I’m ‘fraid you don’t understand, darlin,” he hums, giving you one of those gorgeous, slanted grins that make your heart melt. And the way you cock your head at him, eyes doe-ish and soft, does the exact same thing to him. “I want to take you on a date. I want to open doors for you and walk you to your porch afterwards. Maybe give you a goodnight kiss and watch you go inside. You drive me mad, darlin. I like you so much, it’s taking everythin’ in me not to kiss you right now.”

What?

Your head spins. It’s difficult to even process what he’s saying, everything swimming through your head at a dizzying pace. Maybe you heard him wrong.

“You-” You falter, “You want to- to what?”

Finally.

Jasper smirks, leaning in just enough to make your heart skip erratically, “I want to kiss you sugar. And trust me, it is mighty hard to control myself.”

“Okay um…” You scream silently in your head. Jasper wants to kiss you. Jasper likes you. He likes you. And you like him. “So, you- okay, I have no clue what to do now. I like you too, a lot. Which you probably knew. Wow. I can’t believe I didn’t…”

“Everyone tried tellin’ you,” Jasper chuckles, leaning back.

“I know! I just, I thought they were all teasing me, you know? Cause I like you,” you explain lamely, pouting a bit in disbelief. All this time, you could have just told him! “I just can’t believe how oblivious I was.”

“Trust me, darlin, none of us can. I have one more question for you, though.”

“What?”

“Will you give me the great pleasure of takin’ you on a date?”

You bite your lip, but it does nothing to stop the smile from spreading across them.

Part two of this au 😭

So anyway Johnny and pony had plans, but ofc pony never showed, which kind of ticks Johnny off so he hangs out with dally instead. Dally figures that whatever pony is doing isn’t that important so they should just go find him

They go to the curtis house, pony isn’t there, but dally sees that the door to Darry’s “experiment room” is open, so they go inside to snoop.

Everyone that was shrunk tries to get their attention/warn them, but it’s too late

Soon enough, they’re all shrunk. Dally and Angela immediately start fighting for control, not because either of them would be good leaders, but because they want it

Twobit ends up becoming the leader (accidentally) by being the first to leave the room. Everyone just kind of follows him after that. They hope that by reaching darry, he can make them normal sized again.

By the time they make it to darry, he’s occupied. They’re too small to get his attention anyway, even yelling doesn’t do much except annoy him

Meanwhile, it’s been a good long while since Tim sent angela to go pick curly up, and he’s getting a little mad. It’s not a hard task, just get curly and come home.

Ofc he has to do everything himself 🙄

He goes to Darry’s house and is like “where tf are my kids?!”

Darry is just like “I don’t know. They’re YOUR kids.”

They tussle for a minute, but ultimately decide to go look together when darry realizes he doesn’t know where his gang is either.

They leave the house to go search the neighborhood, completely unknowing that everyone they’re looking for is right there

Dally and Angela both try and get their attention, but ofc it doesn’t work. Pony still blames curly for all of this

Twobit is actually thinking of a solution (trying to, at least. Since all the normally smart people are occupied)

SPOILERS FOR STRANGER THINGS VOLUME 2

Ok here’s a list of why everyone is saying volume 2 was so much worse than every other part (part 6).

Im putting all the groups in seperate posts so its not too long. Here’s just the overall reasons it sucked.

GENERAL

1. The fucking two day time skip. Oh please. First of all, that was the most pathetic excuse to not show everyone trying to get out of the upside down and/or grieving Eddie. It was like the duffers could see all the loose ends they left and just decided to make that time skip so if ever anyone asked they can say “oh yeah that was addressed in the two days afterwards”. Second, you’re telling me that I’m only two days, everyone made a miraculous recovery except Max and Dustin??? Where did his limp even come from? Duffers you can’t just give him a limp to show that he’s been in a fight he has to have actually INJURED HIS LEG. No scars or bruises on the teens faces, only Lucas’s black eye, Dustin’s limp, and Max’s everything. Ok so they got Max. But literally everyone else? And they’re not even upset about Max or Eddie??? What???

2. They went on and on about time this and time that and there was literally nothing to do with time. The clock was just to say that four people had to die before times up (great pun but wtf). With all the actors saying this season would be carnage, I was expecting an Avengers Endgame type thing, where El somehow reversed time. But, much like pretty much every other plot point from volume 1, it was completely ignored.

3. Angela? She was just gone? Mike and El never discussed it again? Yet another point from volume 1 they forgot about.

4. Will’s birthday. I still can’t believe they forgot that.

5. How did no one in Hawkins notice the giant glowing red x in the ground from all the murder sites in the earthquake zone??? What?

6. The whole team just let Eddie be called a murderer??? And they just left his body in the upside down and were all fine except Dustin??? Once again, what???

7. Max’s mum not being in the hospital room and her trailer probably being destroyed seeing as it was right next to Eddie’s. Obviously she’s most likely dead, and yet they never addressed that?

8. The relationship between the mind flayer and Vecna was never addressed?

9. The fact that the upside down was frozen in time was never addressed???

10. All the queerbaiting. And using their only queer characters to further straight relationships.

Honestly this whole volume felt like it was made by completely different people with no idea what they’re doing.

Good Evening and Happy Tuesday. Ahhh we’ve reached glorious s4 aka the season where Tim and Lucy emotionally date each other while they’re in relationships without realizing it LOL The amount of emotional intimacy we get in this season is unreal. We get more growth for them both personally and professionally. Also the insane amount of work flirts is crazy but amazing. I love this season so much. Let’s get going with the premiere.

4x01 Life and Death

When we last left our gang Angela was abducted from her wedding. We start the ep out with an intense OP in progress. Tim asking Wade if they have permission to enter? Grey has a flashback to Angela’s original disappearance before he answers. We hear Lucy saying Jackson is gone along with Angela. We end up in Grey’s office with a gruesome video of their abduction.

We watch as Angela is loaded into a van and Jackson is taken as well. It’s then we see Jackson fight back but he is shot and killed immediately. Loaded into the trunk like cargo. It's horrifying to witness tbh. Watching everyone’s reactions is crushing. They’re all in shock at what they’ve just seen. Can’t believe it’s happened. Lucy’s kills me the most. Harper and Tim are shell shocked. Nolan is a statue. Grey looking as devastated as I’ve ever seen him.

What was supposed to be this momentous and happy occasion is anything but. Lucy just lost her best friend in the blink of an eye. Hurts to watch. All of them are stunned into silence. I remember watching the premiere thinking no way they just killed Jackson right? He must be ok....Just wounded..... Unfortunately that is not the case. We lose him to La Fiera’s senseless violence. I rewound the scene to make sure. I was so stunned I couldn't grasp it. Ugh. It's such a heartbreaking way to start the season off.

Grey comes back to the present and confirms Jackson been killed when replying to the Tactical Leader. The leader saying they need more time before they breach. Grey lets him know been 3 hours since Jackson was killed and Angela was taken. He wants his people to go in he can't wait. Tells Tim and the others to breach now. They’re searching the warehouse where they tracked the car that took her. They make it inside and see the car is empty. Lopez’s wedding dress on the ground.

Lucy goes to grab it when Nolan stops her. Says there’s a trip wire and it leads or C4 under the car. They head back out and request the bomb squad. Saying they can’t track the next vehicle till the scene is clear. As they’re leaving Nolan spots the dirt road outside it. Actually has useful information for once saying they took a plane not a car….

We return to Lucy with Nolan at the station. She’s currently beating herself up for not catching that trip wire. You just lost your best friend love. It’s ok to be a little unfocused. Lucy is breaking my damn heart. Anytime she cries it just hurts to watch. Melissa crushing it over here. The way she loses it over talking about Jackson hurts my soul. She’s wearing her medal he gave her too. Killing me softly with the details. I want to hug her but Tim will cover that for me shortly.

She asks if Nolan if he really thinks Lopez is alive? He says yes. Harper and Tim enter asking why he thinks that? They all start theorizing why she took Angela and where. Tim tells them they have to look at it with cop eyes not personal ones. Lucy brings up the baby. How they bonded over motherhood. That psychologically she could see how Angela betrayed that bond when Diego died. The best revenge would be to take her baby..So dark and twisted.

Grey comes in and tells them the DEA isn’t going to help them due to politics. That being the short answer. Really just red tape BS. Their main focus is finding Jackson’s killer which will hopefully give them a beat on Angela. They figure out Jackson scratched his killer as his final act. Knew he was going to die so he took his DNA with him. They’re rushing results to find out who and that he’s hopefully in the system. He went out like a bad ass doing that gotta say.

Grey tells them all to get some rest if they can. I love her letting Nolan pass by her first. Hanging back for Tim. Needing to show her deepest vulnerabilities with him only. Craving his comfort and a deeper convo with her person. Her and Nolan had a surface talk earlier. What she needs is so much more than that right now. So she naturally turns to Tim. Waits for them to be alone before spilling her emotional guts completely.

First off let me say I love the height difference shot here. Feel like we haven’t had a significant one in a hot minute. I’ll always love the tall/smol between them. Gives me ship tinglies in a way I can not put into words. Hehe Also what seems like intentional distance between them during this scene. Because we know what’s coming in their next one. Zero space between them.

Lucy confiding in Tim how she can’t go back to her apt right now. To his empty room...it’s far too much for her at the moment. Tim instantly offers up his place to her. Saying she shouldn’t have to. No hesitation whatsoever offering up solace with him. That part of himself he can’t explain with her taking the wheel in this moment. All he knows is she’s hurting and he wants to help her hurt less. It’s an innate reaction of his to protect her emotionally. Even when he doesn’t understand it. It’s that instinct that drives this decision.

Lucy being Lucy doesn’t want to impose on him. Even when she’s intensely grieving she’s thinking of others. Thing is she is anything but an imposition to Tim. Never has been never will be. He reinforces his offer telling her she shouldn’t be alone right now. Tim isn't taking no for an answer. He see's she is hurting and vulnerable so he wants to protect that. Protect her.

No way he was he going to relax or get sleep of any kind knowing how upset she was. Lucy caves and accepts his sweet offer. Too tired and emotionally drained to fight him any further on it. Tells him Thanks and Tim is brief in his reply. 'Yeah.' Just wanting to get her out of the station to decompress. Get her away from anything that will remind her of Jackson right now.

Next is the moment that is burned into all of our memories. So many facets of this moment to dissect. It’s glorious. Tim being chivalrous takes the couch. Or tries to at least. Lucy won’t allow it at all. Tim says he can’t let a guest sleep on the couch. They battle a little and Lucy wins. (Cause Wifey usually wins ha) Tim gets up and you can tell he wants to do more for her. Erase her pain or comfort her more. He just isn't sure how...

He asks her if she needs anything? Lucy almost replicating her reply in 2x12 about time travel. Tim once again wishing he had the ability to reverse time for her. If he could engineer a time machine just to take her hurt away it would be built already. No doubt in my mind he would move heaven and earth to make that happen. Instead he replies he unfortunately doesn’t have that power. So Lucy asks for something he most definitely can give. A hug. Love her being this vulnerable and asking him for what she really needs.

Then comes this beautifully intimate hug. It’s the way he pulls her in as she’s falling apart. She is clinging to Tim like he’s the only thing that will keep her together. (Good shot of that ring too..pretty sure that’s intentional) How she folds into arms effortlessly and buries herself in his chest. Like she was always meant to fit there. A puzzle piece fitting perfectly into place.

How gently he cradles her head. So delicate with his hand. It's so tender and affectionate. Encasing her in his arms fully. Space is not a word they know in this moment. It's like he’s trying to shield her from her pain by enveloping her completely. Strokes her hair in a very intimate manner. While she is clinging to him for dear life. Their chemistry is explosive in just the hug alone. I'm getting overwhelmed with feels just writing about this. The way he pulls away is very telling. It’s not just an instant break from their hug.

Tim lingers in his proximity to her. You can see it in the 4th gif above. Running his hands down her arms very slowly. Like he’s trying to extend his time touching her. Waiting to the very last inch to let go. Even when he runs out of real estate he gives her a little affectionate squeeze. Lucy isn’t adding to their distance either. Her head still very close to his chest when they part ways from this hug. She looks like she isn't ready for it to end. Her body still instinctively leaning toward his.

Tim still hasn’t stopped touching her yet. Look at that first gif. He’s still rubbing her other arm as he gazes down at her. The vulnerable way Lucy is looking up at him. *oh my lord* Still leaning into his touch. Into him. The intense shared glances they have here is electric. Lightning in a bottle chemistry goodness is what this is. I remember first time I watched this I felt like my skin was tingling with excitement. Couldn’t believe they were staring at each other like this. How they looked liked they could possibly kiss. I held my breath.

It’s that magnetic pull of theirs. They’re drawn to one another in general. This is the first time they’ve been this close to each other. Probably since the 2x11 moment where he cradled her. But this is much much different. Tim is the one to break it off before they lean into each other any further. I think he knows what will happen if he doesn’t stop this. Tim being the honorable man he is won’t take advantage of her in this state.

I also think this is Tim's ‘Uh Oh’ moment with Lucy. Man isn’t aware of his feelings just yet (ain’t even close to being ready for that) but he is VERY aware of his attraction in this moment. He can't fight the fact he is attracted to Lucy anymore. That much is obvious with this entire hug and his touches. He just showed his hand to her. One he had so tightly guarded to his chest for so long. So he cuts it off before it can develop into something more. Is the one with more self control by telling her good night. Lucy's face after he’s walked away looks like she just had an epiphany. Like ‘Oh shit I’m in love with Tim Bradford..’ Melissa’s face says it all for me.

It falls in line with the she fell first he fell harder scenario. It’s then we see them both trying to come down from their emotional high. The adrenaline of being that close to one another. What almost happened. This moment reminds me of one of my all time fav Caskett moments. Castle watches Beckett go to her hotel room after a similar almost kissed moment. He stares at the closed door and you see Beckett fighting with herself on the other side. Debating to open the door. By the time she gets the guts to open it Castle is long gone into his room.

The way they both stare in the others direction with intense longing. *heart damn clutch* Tim can’t get settled and neither can Lucy. Both trying to process the intense moment they just had. She looks like she’s having an internal battle with herself above. We say Lucy breaks Tim brain a lot and she does. But in this moment Tim has broken her's and she is having an internal struggle after they part.

Now Lucy is the one who decides to go for it. Can’t take sitting in her thoughts any longer. Stares at his bedroom door and gets up. She instantly retreats when she hears him come back into the room. Scurrying back to the couch so Tim doesn’t know what her plans were. Tim telling her Wesley knows where Angela is. The mood shifting completely.

Makes you wonder what her plans were had Tim not gotten that call. Was she going to knock on his door? Just give him a look and they would give into their emotions? I mean she must’ve had a plan of some sort. Possibly relying on that silent communication of theirs to say everything for her? The UST in this moment is off the charts. It’s the first time either of them are truly aware of the sexual tension between them. It really hit Lucy hard with her wanting to act on it.

I’ll always be happy with the way they got together. I adore the canon version. Them getting together in this moment would’ve been very messy. But I adore the tease we got to start the season for them. Was a very promising sign. I remember thinking damn this season gonna be amazing. It felt like it was their pre-get together season. And it was exactly that. Also I'll never be over the fact she’s in his clothes and wearing them damn well might I add. I am dead this scene so so good haha

Everyone arrives at Tim’s place for next steps. Also is no one going to question why Lucy is already there? No? ok...LOL This is totally normal. What I love most about this next section is how in-sync they are. Just a matching power couple in black. Also cross armed Tim mmm my fav. Sexy forearm time look at those puppies. Mm love to lick those like a lollipop. Yum. Also the intense amount of heart eyes Lucy is throwing him in this scene. Girl you have an audience put those away LMAO Clearly has not come down from her hug high. If Tim looked her way in that moment he would've been speechless with their intensity.

Wesley is telling them Angela is at a compound in Guatemala. That he’s going to get her back but he needs some help. Everyone jumps in and Grey stops them. Saying only people truly qualified for this is Harper and Tim. (Why Nolan gets to be apart of their OP based on that logic idk LOL) Nolan does bring up the good point about Max from 2x14. The counterfeiting case they had where they let his team go in exchange for their killer.

Tim explaining to Grey his unit runs covert operations all over the world. He could get them in undetected. He owes them for not putting his sins on blast. He would give them tactical support on the ground as well. Lucy is gonna hang back with Grey per his decision to help on Jackson’s murder case. While Nolan will fold in with Tim and Nyla to contact Max and get their mission going.

They land and their original plan doesn’t pan out. It was to get in covertly through the blueprints Nolan steals. Unfortunately Plan A is squashed due their covert entrance having a steel gate installed. Covering up the only weak spot for the house making the blueprints useless. Tim also brings up if they’ve added this gate who knows what else they’ve added inside? Says they have to go to Plan B which Nolan and Harper bitch to him about lol

Tim is the ONLY ONE with military experience. He knows how to quickly adapt in a hostile environment especially when a plan goes to shit. Even though its super risky it's their best option. Nolan I expect the whining from. Harper should appreciate this since she was a UC. Yeah its not ideal but bitching at him doesn't make it better. It's only ok when Lucy does it haha

I do love this scene above so much it’s underrated IMO. Lucy telling him she doesn’t like Plan B is too funny. He looks so damn exasperated by her dislike of the plan. Harper and Nolan turning around is too funny I have to say. Like we told you she wouldn’t like this plan....When really it’s just her worry coming through in spades. Her person is in potential danger and she doesn’t get to have his back. Lucy is very far away and her worry is very evident. The secondary plan puts him in more danger. Danger she can't control that from another country. So she is a little anxious. Poor thing.

Side note before we delve into the moment above. Military Tim is a flavor I like very much. Look at him. How does this man make such an ordinary outfit sexy as hell? He’s wearing the hell out of that t-shirt Ovary explosion on-top of his sexy biceps popping out of it. *fans self* Also its not shown here but his belt hanging over the edge of his pants. Wish I could've fit more gifs of Military Tim. I'm bummed I could not haha (shakes fist at tumblr's gif limit) Anyways It’s like he wants me to implode from the thirst trap that he is. Plus the 5’clock shadow lining that sexy jawline. Have mercy.

Anyways another underrated moment in this episode is Lucy telling him to be careful. It’s such a loaded moment. Look at the way she is anxiously shifting around. You can see Lucy is bouncing her knees up and down trying to get her nerves out. She not even close to processing losing Jackson right now. She can’t fathom losing her person too. Lucy needs to let him know to be careful and she’s worried. That she cares. Lucy is so very stressed for Tim. It's driving her insane she doesn’t have his back in this moment.

If Harper wasn’t there I’m sure his answer would’ve been a little different. More sincere and soft. Since Harper is Tim is doing his macho confidence thing to keep her from worrying instead. Tim is also confident in this plan even if it’s more complicated. More shock and awe. As he says. Sending Angela into pre-mature labor then intercepting her at the hospital with the antidote. Which they do pretty flawlessly. Angela dispatching of La Fiera while pregnant was pretty damn bad ass before getting away. Also I love them all pulling a gun on Max to pick up Wesley/Nolan HA Wesley and Angela's reunion in the helicopter is super sweet I love them ❤️

Fast forwarding 3 months to her having the baby, them all healing a bit more after Jackson’s death was a good call. Angela and Wes arrive home to a welcome home party. Lucy could not be cuter with her excitement over her baby basket. She made her all these organic and homeopathic cookies. Once Lucy departs Harper tells her not eat the cookies LMFAO But it was something positive for Lucy to focus on. It made her happy to assemble it for Angela. So sweet.

The episode ends with Angela talking to Jackson’s gravestone. Ugh my heart. Her updating him on everything. Saying she hopes by the time her leave is over she can face the station without him there. Killing me Angela. I love them naming their kid after him. Gut punch to the feels. Ep starts with a gut punch and ends with one. Hell of a start to an incredible season.

I love when Grey says he’s feeling biblical about losing Jackson. We all were Wade. So upsetting…

The intro of Elijah. He’s a solid baddie I enjoy his SL with Wesley. The things we do for those we love. Actor is solid af cause I hate him so much haha doing his job well.

Also in that post hug scene I love that Tim has a photo of Kojo on his bedside table I love this man sfm.

It is very kind of Grey to remind Nolan he’s done as a rookie. Everyone in the room is happy he’s a P2. He’s a putz but a somewhat likable one haha

I love the portion with Grey and Lucy. They got a hit on the DNA. They’re riding together to get this little shit. Lucy is still rattled and Wade tries to help her get past it. What’s great is he starts out as the one telling her she has to be professional, do her job everyone is depending on her too.

Especially Jackson’s family. Then he has a crisis of conscious right before he arrests him. His speech to that kid hurts to listen to. ‘A young man so full of life. Hurts my soul to think of him in that dark room on that cold table’ oof.

I will give it to Nolan him saving Wesley was pretty awesome. That’s his one compliment this season from me haha

the big difference between these two relationships

*these are my own personal opinions based on what i’ve observed in the show!! obviously all of these characters love each other so much but i just don't think mike and el work together romantically, while mike and will do (and there are so many reasons why!)

as we all know, mike and will completely understand each other and relate to each other, they feel like equals, they're honest with each other, they have many deep and meaningful heart-to-heart conversations and they can actually be themselves when they’re together. mike and el don't fully understand each other or relate to each other, they feel completely different from one another (mike admitted he feels inferior to el and el admitted she feels like she doesn't belong anywhere), they lie to each other, they don't have any deep and meaningful heart-to-heart conversations and they can’t even be themselves when they’re together (they literally prove this in the show).

el believes that mike has been scared of her several times and sees her as a monster (obviously we know he doesn’t actually think she is one), but the point is that she still feels like a monster, and there are several scenes where mike unintentionally triggers traumatic memories of brenner right after he gets angry at el when she does something that scares him (like when she accidentally hurt lucas and and when she hit angela with the rollerskate). obviously mike and brenner are NOT the same at all, they are completely different people, but there are some parallels between them when it comes to how they view el as a superhero and how they put pressure on her to always save the day (“you’re MY superhero!”, “you can fly!”) and how they praise her for her powers more than who she actually is as a person. they’ve both called her “incredible” several times but it’s always about her abilities. but with will on the other hand, mike has always made him feel safe and comfortable for who he is and he doesn’t feel like a mistake at all because of mike. he has always been extremely protective, observant and caring towards will and he knows how to make him feel loved and accepted. the only time mike upsets will is when he excludes him, but the only reason he excludes him is because he forces himself to pay attention to el and then he pretends to be someone he’s not when he’s with her… see, it just shows how it’s not healthy or fair to anyone and mike can only be himself when he’s with will.

mike and el

season 4 episode 3: during their fight scene, el tells mike that she’s different from everyone else. he tries explaining that he understands what she’s going through because he’s been bullied his whole life but she says he never will. this already shows us that they don’t feel equal to each other in the relationship and they’re never on the same page, because unfortunately, they are very different and have experienced different things in their life, and no matter how long they date, they always will be different. obviously relationships can work like this in some cases, but the thing is with mike and el, they don’t have any sort of character growth or development at all. they don’t become stronger as a couple. in fact, i think they’ve only gotten worse. they can’t even communicate honestly or be themselves around each other. they’ve never had a meaningful heart-to-heart conversation or resolved their conflicts properly. they constantly lie and pretend to be people they’re not (el literally lied to mike the entire time they were sending letters and acted like her life was good when it wasn’t) and mike acts so different around el and forces himself to focus on her which results in him excluding all his friends. this isn’t healthy or fair to anyone, and continuing to force two teenagers in a relationship where they don’t understand each other and can’t even be themselves with each other is really weird. anyways, el says “you think i’m a monster too” and mike doesn’t really try hard to deny it, he just lies and makes her feel like she’s being ridiculous like he’s done to her this entire scene. we know that mike obviously doesn’t think el is a bad person at all, but there have been several times where he has been scared of her and she knows that too.

in season 1 when they find will’s body, mike slaps el’s hand away and yells at her because he feels betrayed. he realises that el is just a stranger that he’s been trusting and following around even though he barely knows her, and when he sees the body and believes it’s will, it absolutely breaks him and he thinks she’s been lying to him. a few episodes later, el freaks out and sends lucas flying across the junkyard with her powers, and it knocks him unconscious. mike is understandably terrified and angry because his friend got hurt. he yells at her again and this triggers a traumatic memory from the lab. this shows that mike’s reaction reminded her of brenner (there are actually many parallels between mike and brenner, and even in mike’s monologue to el in season 4 episode 9, he says the same things brenner said to el. they both go on about how she’s a superhero that can fly and she obviously doesn’t want to hear that all the time since she’s her own person as well, but they never seem to mention her actual personality or what she does outside of being a superhero). in season 4 episode 2, el hits angela in the face with a rollerskate. mike looks terrified and it parallels to brenner again because mike's words triggered a traumatic memory. even at the dinner table, mike is still annoyed and makes a sarcastic comment which upsets el. in episode 9 during his monologue, he lies and says he’s never been scared of her which we know isn’t true. that entire monologue was pretty much filled with lies that contradict things we’ve already seen and it just felt like an insult to el. i also didn’t like how mike said “you’re my superhero” and listed what she can do with her powers but he couldn’t even mention anything about her personality, because he doesn’t even truly know her since they can’t even be themselves with each other. they don’t even share any similar interests and hobbies. the only thing mike knows about her outside of being a superhero is that she likes eggos and that’s about it.

you can argue that he tried making her feel good about who she is in his monologue but he was lying during so much of it that it doesn’t feel genuine at all. people also need to realise that it’s unhealthy that mike has an inferiority complex. he literally admitted that he feels inferior to el because she’s a superhero with powers. he said it wasn't fate or destiny but dumb luck that superman landed on his doorstep. he saw that el was vulnerable and needed help and he just happened to be there. he also probably feels better about himself for being able to get a girl with powers because no girls have ever shown any interest in him before (and it doesn't seem like he had any interest in girls either). but the entire time he was talking in the car, he was talking about himself and how he wants to be "needed" by el because it boosts his confidence but he never mentioned what el actually needs, especially at that time in her life when he met her. she just got out of a lab and needed to grow rather than being pushed into romance before knowing what romance was. mike had a crush on her but she didn’t have a crush on him. she thought he would be like her brother and she only saw him as a friend that cared for her. obviously mike didn’t have any bad intentions when he kissed her, he was just a kid and it was supposed to be cute and wholesome, but the point is that he did what he wanted when she didn’t even understand the concept of romance and crushes. she didn’t really have a say and she didn't have any time to learn about this stuff. mike is the one that decided what their relationship was going to be without giving her a chance to discover herself first. it was also harder for el because she couldn’t communicate the same way mike could, so everything happened so quickly for her and it just doesn’t feel right that she couldn’t decide on her own. their relationship would've been so much better if it developed slowly and el had time to decide if she liked mike romantically HERSELF, without mike being the one to put things in her head. i think it's also important to mention that there was a literally an entire plot in season 3 that focused on how mike has prevented el from discovering herself and what she likes. max literally encouraged her to break up with him, and when she did, she looked the happiest she had ever been. max actually allowed her to find her own style and think for herself instead of letting the men in her life tell her what to do.

mike and will

season 4 episode 8: during the car scene, will confesses his love to mike using eleven’s name. he mentions how he feels like a mistake sometimes because he’s different but mike is the only person that doesn’t make him feel like a mistake. they were each other’s first friend, they’ve known each other for most of their lives, they have always felt like equals in the relationship, they’ve experienced the same struggles as they’ve been outcasts their whole lives and got bullied at school, they both understand each other better than anyone else and they can be themselves with each other. neither feels superior or inferior to the other (unlike mike and el, where mike literally admitted he feels inferior to el because she’s a superhero with powers and he wants to be “needed” by her… the whole thing isn’t healthy or fair to anyone at all). mike and will have only had two fights and both times it was because will felt excluded by mike because he was too busy with el. in season 3 episode 3, will felt called out when mike said “it’s not my fault you don’t like girls”. he was obviously already hurt for many reasons here, but hearing this would’ve made it even harder for him. but we know that mike didn’t mean it that way and he immediately regretted it because he just said it without thinking (it also sounded like he was actually projecting because of internalised homophobia). the other time they argued was at the roller rink and it sounds like mike is projecting here too when he says “we’re friends” twice and gets defensive about it. after both of these fights, mike immediately goes to apologise to will because he can’t stand seeing him upset and he had to make sure he was okay and knew that he was genuinely sorry for hurting him. it’s important to note that mike is stubborn when it comes to apologising but he always apologises to will without question. in season 4 episode 4, he doesn't let will try to blame himself either. mike takes full responsibility for the way he treated will and admits that things have felt weird because hawkins wasn't the same without him and he was afraid of losing him. this is a parallel to the scene in season 4 episode 8 where will also admits that if he was mean to mike or seemed like he was pushing him away, it's because he was scared to lose him too.

“if [i] was mean to you or [i] seemed like [i] was pushing you away, it’s probably because [i'm] scared of losing you just like you’re scared of losing [me]”

even though he used el to disguise his feelings, i think mike will eventually realise will was talking about himself here because it's the only thing that makes sense. el never pushed mike away and they stayed in contact by sending each other letters, but mike and will lost contact and pushed each other away because they love each other and they're scared of losing each other. that's why this line during the car monologue can only be applied to mike and will. also, when mike said his monologue to el, he copied a lot of what will said and he was basically responding to will's love confession for him without even realising it.

anyways, the scene where will told mike he doesn’t feel like a mistake because of him also reminded me of the one in season 2 where will and jonathan are talking and will gets upset. he says “mom, dustin, lucas, everyone. they all treat me like i’m gonna break, like i’m a baby, like i can’t handle things on my own”. notice how he doesn’t mention mike? that’s because mike has never made him feel that way. mike stayed by will’s side throughout all of season 2 to take care of him but he never treated him like he was a baby or made him feel bad about anything. he was just there by his side and provided support when he needed it. when will was explaining what he saw on halloween night, mike listened so carefully. he didn't make him feel like there was something wrong with him and he told him that they'll both go crazy together. in season 2 episode 5 when will is talking about the mindflayer spying on them, mike tries making the situation positive by saying how it would be cool for will to be like a super-spy. will almost let out a little laugh because of it even though he was terrified in the moment. it just shows that mike always makes him feel better. and when will was anxious and shaking, mike noticed and put his hand on top of his to calm him down. mike is also the only person that will opens up to when he's struggling which shows how comfortable he feels around him. in season 2 he told him about everything going on with the mindflayer, and in season 4 he's the first person that he spoke to when they arrived back in hawkins. mike also helped will snap out of his upside down trances in season 2 and he would always make sure he was okay and stayed by his side. even after will becomes "the spy", mike never takes his anger out on will or yells at him because he knows it's not his fault, and he stays by his side even though he knows it's risky to be around him. in the shed scene, he was so calm and gentle while telling will the story of how they first met. they were both crying during this scene and it was extremely emotional. it's also probably my favourite scene in the entire show.

there’s such a big difference between both of these relationships and i think it’s really important to discuss. it's obvious that all of them love each other so much, but the difference is that mike and el don't work together romantically at all, while mike and will could be one of the most well-written and genuine relationships because they understand each other better than anyone and they fit together so well. i think mike and el could have one of the strongest and most beautiful friendships too, but they just don't work together as a couple and we've seen why so many times. anyone that pays attention to the show would see that mike and el can’t even be themselves around each other and mike's character got worse the moment he started dating el. he was just reduced to her boyfriend, had no individual character growth and development AND it's just simply not healthy because he feels inferior to her and pretends to be someone he’s not when she's around. he sees her as an awesome superhero with powers but he can’t even name anything about who she is as a person or anything about her personality. el also hasn’t had the chance to grow on her own and make her own decisions. even when she’s starting to finally have her own character development, she always ends up back with mike, and the fact that he needed to say a monologue (that was literally filled with lies!) to “give her strength” while her best friend was suffering in front of her just feels really weird and the entire thing was cheesy. it’s just not healthy or fair to either of them. mike and will on the other hand have the closest relationship in the show and understand each other better than anyone else. it's also just been fully confirmed that will has been in love with mike from the very beginning and they have the most history and build up, even if we don't see all of it on screen. mike can only be himself when he’s with will and that says SO much too. they see each other as equals, they’re always on the same page and they love each other for exactly who they are. obviously mike and el love each other too, i just don't think they belong together romantically because their relationship just simply isn't healthy. i think they rushed into it way too quickly and mike got carried away because she's a superhero, as he's said over and over again. he couldn't even tell her he loved her when she was crying in front of him without her powers, but the moment she gets her powers back and will confesses his OWN feelings for mike and convinces him that el "needs" him, he can suddenly tell her he loves her? i don't know, the whole thing is just messy lol.

I didn’t really know if I articulated my thoughts properly or not on the podcast regarding Chenford’s argument/fight scene vs. the breakup scene, so here it goes (abbreviated version on twitter already):

Chenford’s argument scene hit different in my opinion because of how Eric and Melissa’s acting skills made it come across so real and relatable, just like an actual intense convo would go between a couple who were emotionally charged.

There would be voices breaking, hands gesturing, and they would talk over each other at times, which is exactly what happened in their argument scene.

I wish I could find a gif that had the specific moment within the scene that really encapsulates this well, but I can’t. It’s the one part where they’re both talking at the same time almost about Angela vs. Lucy and what they have to lose (if that makes sense!) and it just really elevated the impact of the scene for me.

Not to say that their breakup scene was emotionally powerful too because it totally was! I was teary eyed during my second watch of it. Their breakup scene had me more emotional, but the argument scene was more impactful (if I had to pick a word), in my opinion, that is.

While my Chenford heart hurt watching both of those scenes, The Rookie fan is me was very proud of how well Eric and Melissa acted together and how it truly was on another level of talent for them!! I can totally see why Melissa referred to the argument scene when talking of Lucy going through something different/more vulnerable.

Also, while I did say this clearly on the podcast, I will reiterate here that while I can understand Tim’s reasons for breaking up with Lucy from a psychological standpoint, it doesn’t make it any less frustrating — poor Lucy! It truly did seem to be out of the blue to her & she’s already been through a lot this season professionally, it’s just like, BAM! Here’s a personal issue now. Although now she and Tim will be dealing with personal and professional issues this season! So that’ll be interesting to see how it all plays out.

I have total faith Tim and Lucy will get back together and be stronger than ever. It’ll just take time to get through this & I’m looking forward to seeing how they navigate things as individuals again instead of solely as a couple.

What's a storyline you'd like to see played out in S6?

It’s pretty obvious to me that the UC storyline is in need of a resolution and I’d like to see that play out in S6. Tim and Lucy need to have a real conversation about this (personally, I think this makes a great source of conflict for them and could lead to some really productive angst when it all comes to a head) and then Lucy needs to make a decision about her career.

I actually hope they fight about UC because I think part of the reason both of them are holding back and not being completely truthful is because they’re afraid to burst the happy bubble they’ve been in and have an honest to god fight with each other. They need to break down that barrier… have a brutal fight, prove to themselves that they can get through it, and prove to each other that they really are as committed to fighting for this relationship as they’ve both said they are.

(Btw, I’m vaguely working on a fic with this premise.)

As for how the UC storyline actually resolves, I go back and forth on what I’d like to see. I don’t want Lucy to give it up for Tim or because she thinks he can’t handle it. If she gives up UC entirely it needs to be because she realizes it’s no longer the life she wants. I think maybe a good compromise would be for her to do some short term ops but not go in long term. She’d still get to do UC while prioritizing her relationship with Tim and also getting to be part of a badass team with Angela and Nyla.

But idk, I’m open to other ideas and I’m interested to see how it plays out.

“Stop acting… like you’re… so good with… relationships… Malcolm.” Stevie rolled his eyes at his best friend before taking a bite of his sandwich. “You don’t… have game.”

“Yes, I do!” Malcolm protested. “Remember Sarah Coleman?”

“In eighth grade… and she… dumped… your ass.”

“What about Alison?”

“An idiot… who dumped you… for your brother.”

“Nicki?”

“Crazy… and locked you… in her attic.”

“Whatever.” Malcolm sighed. “It’s not like you’ve ever had a girlfriend.”

“Angela… Pozefsky.”

“Well, I dated her first. Besides, it’s not like you two lasted long.” Malcolm shrugged and shook his head from the annoyance of Stevie having a good rebuttal. He started picking at his food, which should’ve signaled the end of the conversation. But before he could take a bite, he dropped his fork and turned back to Stevie. “You know what? They don’t even matter anymore. I like someone else anyway.”

“Oh, really?” Stevie asked, rolling his eyes.

“Yeah, and I got a real chance with her.”

“Of course… you do.” Stevie responded sarcastically, taking another bite of his food. Malcolm looked at him confused.

“What the hell is that supposed to mean?”

“You like… someone… and think you… have a shot… so you… obsess.”

“No, I don’t!”

“Yes… you do.”

“Whatever. Look, I have a real chance with this girl, I know it. Have you ever connected with someone so well that you just know, deep down, that they’re it for you?” Malcolm stared off with a dreamy look on his face, obviously deep in thought about the girl he was talking about.

“I have… actually,” Stevie said, which surprised Malcolm, pulling him out of his state.

“Really? You’ve never talked about her before.”

“If I could… get a… word in… I-”

“So what’s she like?” Stevie rolled his eyes at Malcolm, but soon brushed it off, ready to talk about the girl he’s had his eye on.

“Treats me like… a person. Doesn’t… sugarcoat… but still… sweet.”

“Same with mine!” Malcolm responded. “She’s straightforward, but she’s still like, the nicest person ever.”

“She’s smart… too.”

“I can have an intellectual conversation with her without feeling like a freak. And she’s so funny too.”

“Her laugh… is heavenly.”

“Let’s say their names on three,” Malcolm suggested. Stevie nodded. “One.”

“Two.”

“Three. Y/n.”

“Y/n.”

The smiles on the boys’ faces faded once they realized what the other had said. It seemed they were both talking about the same girl.

“Crap.”

After a lengthy discussion, Stevie and Malcolm concluded that they were, in fact, talking about the same girl. Y/n had known them for years, meeting them back in middle school. She wasn’t in the Krelboyne class, but she was still clever enough to understand complex matters and keep up with the boys’ conversations. She was nice, but could still tell it how it is. And no matter what, she was still the boys’ friend.

Stevie and Malcolm also concluded that they both liked Y/n too much to back away and let the other have a chance to woo her. So they agreed to let the best man win.

“Hey, Y/n.” Malcolm greeted his friend, slightly out of breath. He woke up early and ran to school so he could talk to Y/n before Stevie could. But she didn’t need to know that.

“Hey, Malcolm. You know, I think this is the first time I’ve seen you come to school this early.” She smiled at him and he could’ve melted right there. He shrugged, trying to be nonchalant.

“Decided to try something new, I guess.”

“Well, I hope you stick with it. I’ve missed seeing you in the mornings.”

Malcolm felt like he could’ve died right there. She was missing his presence? They saw each other almost every day, and she still missed him?

“Really?” Malcolm asked. He felt like he had just imagined her response, but was really hoping that he didn’t.

“Of course, Malcolm! I miss the days back in middle school when you, Stevie, and I would hang out before we had to split to our different classes.” And just like that, Malcolm’s mood deflated. Y/n didn’t miss just him, she also missed his best friend, who he was secretly fighting for her attention. 

He shook off the disappointment. He had to stick to his plan.

“Well, speaking of different classes, want me to walk you to yours?” Malcolm felt proud of himself. It sounded so effortless and smooth, yet he was trying not to overthink every second of this interaction too badly. 

“Sure! I was waiting for someone, but I need to get to class early to ask my teacher something and I don’t think they’ll be here in time.” Malcolm tried not to ask who Y/n was waiting for. It didn’t matter. What mattered was that she was letting him walk her to class, step one of his plan.

“Hey, Stevie.” Y/n greeted the boy as he rolled his chair over to his assigned spot next to her. When he locked the wheels in place, he turned to her and mirrored the smile she had.

“Hi, Y/n.” When he reached back to grab supplies out of his backpack, he noticeably did a double take at her. “You look… really nice… today.” He acted like he just noticed, but Stevie saw it the second he came into the room. But to be fair, he thought she looked nice every day.

“Oh, thanks! I went to the mall last weekend and kind of splurged.” 

“Well… you have… good taste.” 

“Thank you, Stevie.” Her smile was softer but felt just as bright.

“Sorry I… couldn’t… meet you… this morning… Dad woke up… late.” If he could, Stevie would kick himself for missing her in the morning, even though logically it wasn’t his fault. He had to rely on his dad to drive him unless he wanted to go on the bus or wheel to school. Stevie just hoped he could make it up to Y/n.

“Oh, it’s okay. Malcolm walked me to class.” Y/n didn’t notice the quick flash of annoyance on Stevie’s face at the mention of Malcolm. 

“Really?”

“Yeah. It was kinda weird seeing him this morning. I usually never see him that early in the day.” Y/n pulled a notebook out of her backpack and set it on the desk before looking at Stevie. “But he said he was trying something new, so maybe I’ll be seeing more of him again.”

“Maybe,” Stevie whispered. He couldn’t believe that Malcolm would swoop in on Y/n when Stevie was supposed to walk her to class. Stevie had to think of something. “Wanna get… lunch… together?”

Y/n was about to answer when the bell rang, cutting her off. The teacher started talking but Stevie couldn’t pay attention, still waiting for her answer. When the teacher turned around to write something on the board, Y/n smiled at Stevie and nodded.

Perfect.

Lunch couldn’t come quickly enough. Stevie made his way to the quad and tried spotting Y/n. It was a simple task. He could pick the girl out in a crowded place any day. When he found her, he started moving towards her. But something stopped him.

Malcolm had also spotted Y/n and then noticed Stevie. The two boys glared at each other, and the race was on. It started slowly, a leisurely walk and roll, to not draw too much attention to themselves. But then they sped up and kept getting faster until they finally stopped at Y/n’s table. She looked up, startled, but the confusion left her face when she recognized who was in front of her.

“Hey, Malcolm! Hey, Stevie!” She turned to each boy when acknowledging him.

“Hi, Y/n.” They said in unison, glaring at each other before sitting down. Y/n didn’t seem to notice.

“I didn’t know… Malcolm… would be… joining us,” Stevie commented as he pulled out his lunch box. Before Y/n could respond, Malcolm dropped his backpack on the table and yanked out his paper bag of food.

“She asked me before third period.” He stared Stevie down. “Is that a problem, Stevie?”

“Not at all.”

“Are you guys okay?” Y/n asked, eyes darting between the two. “You guys are acting kind of weird. Well, weirder than usual.”

“We’re fine.” They both responded shortly. Y/n nodded, not convinced but not feeling like delving deeper into the boys’ behavior. The three friends ate, silence and tension thick. After a few minutes, Malcolm decided to make a move.

“So, Y/n, are you doing anything tonight?” Stevie glared at Malcolm, but he and Y/n didn’t notice. Malcolm was focused on Y/n, who was trying to recall any plans she had.

“Nothing, I think. Why?”

“Well, I was wondering if you wanted to hang out after school.” Malcolm shrugged as if he had just spontaneously thought of it. “I think I heard about this movie that just came out.” When he got home after his talk with Stevie, Malcolm scoured the internet and newspaper for different things that would peak Y/n’s interest.

“Oh, yeah! I think I know what movie you’re talking about. I’d love to go with you, Malcolm.”

“Great!” He felt so accomplished and smug, the way he did when he won an award for academic achievement. Stevie wanted to wipe that look off his face.

“Oh my gosh, we’re so rude.” Y/n gasped, turning to face Stevie. “I can’t believe we just made plans in front of you, Stevie. Do you wanna come with us?” With anyone else, Stevie would’ve rolled his eyes, feeling like the invitation was just out of pity. But he knew that Y/n was genuinely guilty about excluding him from something.

So it killed him when he turned her offer down.

“No, thanks… But you two… have fun.” He knew that if he came with Y/n and Malcolm, Malcolm would get nowhere with her. But at the same time, neither would he. So he had to restrain himself from trying to sabotage Malcolm’s time with her and make her time with him special and more memorable. 

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah… we can… hang out… another time.”

Malcolm was surprised. He thought that Stevie would have jumped at the opportunity to spend time with Y/n. But he wasn’t going to complain about getting some alone time with her. When he thought about it, it was fair for each of them to have their own time with Y/n to try to win her over.

“How about tomorrow?”

“Perfect.”

Malcolm felt like he was blessed by God himself. His mom let him take the car to school and said that as long as he went to the store before coming home at a reasonable time, he could go wherever he wanted. He considered the possibility that maybe Lois was high on something, but he decided not to question it.

Y/n was in the passenger seat, quietly singing along to the radio and bobbing her head to the beat. He wasn’t even dating her, and he was wondering how he got so lucky.

“We’re here.” He announced as he parked the car in the movie theater parking lot. They got out and went inside. Malcolm made sure to hold the door open for her. While in line, the two debated what they wanted for food. When they decided, it was suddenly their turn to go up to the counter. Malcolm gave the worker the movie title and their food order, and paid before Y/n could reach for her wallet.

“Malcolm, you didn’t have to do that.” She groaned as he put his wallet back in his pocket.

“It’s fine, Y/n, really.”

“At least let me pay you back half.” She insisted, trying to put the money in his hand. He shook his head, just as stubborn.

“Y/n, I’m serious, it’s okay.” Knowing he wouldn’t budge, Y/n sighed and put the money back in her pocket.

“Fine.” she said, grabbing the big bucket of popcorn as Malcolm grabbed their drink (they decided it would be cheaper to share a large than each getting their own drink). It was Y/n’s favorite drink. It wouldn’t have been Malcolm’s first choice if the drink was just for himself, but he was okay with drinking it. “But I’m paying next time.” Malcolm lit up.

“So there’s a next time?” He asked, letting her pick where they were going to sit in the theater. They sat directly in the middle.

“Of course!” Feeling more than content, Malcolm settled into his seat with a smile and they watched the previews. More people started to fill the theater. “Is that Stevie?”

They had to squint. The room was dark, and they were high up, but yes. Stevie Kenarban had wheeled his way into the theater, parking himself in one of the handicapped sections on the ground floor. 

“Wanna go sit with him, Malcolm?” Y/n asked, already starting to get up.

“Sure!” He acted excited, but Malcolm was livid. What happened to hanging out with her another day?

After squeezing their way through the aisle and down the stairs, the two ended up next to Stevie.

“Hi, Stevie!” The boy looked surprised when he saw the two.

“Hey, guys.” Just before Y/n was going to sit down in the seat next to Stevie, Malcolm took it. It was bad enough that Stevie was here, but there was no way Malcolm was gonna have Y/n sit between the two of them. Y/n didn’t mind, sitting in the seat next to Malcolm.

“What are you doing here?” Y/n asked quietly, previews about to end.

“Yeah, Stevie, I thought you weren’t gonna come,” Malcolm added on, a bit of venom in his tone.

“Dad says… I should… get out more.” Stevie shrugged before eating a handful of his popcorn. In reality, it took a bit of convincing to get Stevie’s dad to drive him to the movie theater. He had originally thought that it was okay for each boy to have time to themselves with Y/n.

But after thinking about what Malcolm would try to get up to, he didn’t care anymore.

The movie cut their conversation short. Stevie rolled his eyes every time he saw Malcolm and Y/n share their drink or bump hands while reaching for the popcorn. But then, the unthinkable happened. Malcolm pulled the cliche, yawning and stretching even though it was 4 pm, before laying his arm on the back of Y/n’s seat. Even worse, she didn’t mind. When Malcolm’s arm slipped off the seat and onto her shoulders, she smiled.

Stevie was livid.

“It’s nice out today,” Y/n said as she basked in the sun’s warmth. She and Stevie decided to study together for a test they had coming up and Stevie suggested the park. They grabbed some lunch and sat at her favorite park table, now flipping through books and writing down notes.

“Yeah… it is.” Stevie agreed, his focus more on Y/n than the textbook in front of him. He already knew everything he needed to know about this subject, but he enjoyed studying with Y/n. Her notes were organized, and she made clever jokes about whatever she was reading. Plus, he could never complain about the view that was in front of him right now.

“What did you get for number five?” She asked, looking at the study guide the teacher had provided them. Stevie glanced down at his packet.

“Number five?” He asked for confirmation. When she nodded, looked at his answer. “I got-“

“Oh! Hey guys!” A voice sounded a few feet from the table. The two looked up to see Malcolm. Y/n looked delighted by the surprise, Stevie on the other hand looked less than thrilled.

“What are you doing here, Malcolm?” Y/n asked with a smile.

“Yeah… What are… you doing… here?” Stevie asked with annoyance. Malcolm shrugged as if he had just popped up in the park. 

“Oh, just wanted some fresh air. Get out of the house for a bit.” He walked over and sat next to Y/n, who made room for him on the bench. “What are you guys working on?”

“We have a test next week, so we decided to study,” Y/n answered, looking through her textbook to try to find her answer to number five. Malcolm peeked over her shoulder at the question and then pointed to the answer in the book. “Oh! Thanks, Malcolm.”

“We have… a lot… of work… to do… So maybe-” Stevie started to say, trying to get Malcolm out of here as fast as possible. But Y/n, seeming to misread his tone, cut him off.

“Do you think you could help us study, Malcolm?” Stevie sighed. He knew that even if he wanted to, Malcolm would never be able to say no to those eyes.

“Are you sure? I don’t wanna intrude.” He smiled politely, but Stevie saw through the act. 

“Actually-“ Again, he was cut off.

“Of course! You could quiz us and stuff. You don’t mind, do you, Stevie?” Even though he wanted to, Stevie couldn’t say no to her.

“The more… the merrier.”

“Awesome! I’ll be right back.” Y/n stood up, gathering all the trash from her and Stevie’s lunch. “Gonna go throw this away.” The boys watched as she walked off to a trash can. When she was out of earshot, they turned to each other.

“Why… are you… here?” Stevie asked, anger seeping into his tone.

“I could’ve asked you the same thing the other day,” Malcolm responded. “I thought we agreed to let the best man win, fair and square.”

“And I thought… ‘screw that.’” 

Malcolm groaned, letting his head fall into his hands. He slowly looked up.

“Neither of us will get anywhere if we keep acting like this,” He sighed. “We gotta ask her.”

“Ask her… what?”

“Yeah, ask me what?” The boys jumped in their seats, startled. Y/n sat back down in her spot, looking at her friends as she waited for an answer.

“Uhhhh…” Stevie trailed off, trying to think of something. Luckily, Malcolm was always a quick thinker.

“We were just wondering… Do you have any plans next week?”

“I don’t think so. Why?”

“Well, there’s this restaurant that I think you’d like.”

“And there’s an… arboretum… that just opened.”

“Aw, like a group friend date?” Malcolm and Stevie had to suppress their groans. They couldn’t tell if Y/n was messing with them or if she was actually oblivious to what they were hinting at.

“Something like that.”

“It’s kinda sad Malcolm didn’t show up. This place is beautiful.” Y/n said as she and Stevie walked around the arboretum. The sunlight shined through the tree branches, making it seem like they were glowing.

“At least… we can… enjoy it,” Stevie said, watching Y/n as she walked down the concrete path, the sun hitting her just right, making her look angelic.

“You know, these last two weeks have been so great. I miss hanging out with you all the time.” Y/n stopped under some shade, Stevie following suit. 

“Me too,” Stevie said excitedly.

“I don’t know what changed. But whatever did, I’m glad it happened. You and Malcolm are so fun to be around.” Stevie wished so badly that he didn’t hear his friend’s name. Y/n checked her watch. “Oh, gosh. Speaking of Malcolm, I gotta make sure I’m not late to that restaurant. Want me to walk you to your dad’s car?”

Stevie’s heart sank.

“Sure.”

They made their way towards the entrance of the arboretum. Stevie wished that he could’ve had Y/n all to himself today, but that’s not what he and Malcolm agreed on. After a few months of yearning and a few weeks of fighting over Y/n, the two made an agreement. Today was the last day for them to confess their feelings to her. 

And Stevie was about to miss his chance. Every time he tried to bring it up, he chickened out. 

“Well… this… is me,” Stevie said as they stopped next to Stevie’s dad’s car. “Are you sure… you don’t want… a ride?”

“I’m sure, Stevie. It’s not that far of a walk. But you’re sweet for asking.” Without a warning, Y/n leaned down and kissed Stevie’s cheek. When she stood up straight, she waved at Stevie’s dad before looking back at her friend. “I’ll see you around, Stevie.” She turned around and started to walk away.

“Y/n!” Stevie blurted out suddenly. She whipped around.

“Yeah, Stevie?” This was his last chance. All he had to do was say a few words.

“Have a… good time.”

“I hope you didn’t have to wait too long,” Y/n said as she plopped down in the booth across from Malcolm. She noticed that he ordered her favorite drink and an appetizer for her. How sweet. “Walk took a little longer than expected.”

“Don’t worry, I didn’t wait too long.” Malcolm started fiddling around with the straw that was in his drink. He couldn’t stop wondering about what Stevie had said to her on their little outing. “How was the arboretum?”

“It was so beautiful. You should’ve been there, Malcolm.”

“Wish I was.”

“Enough about me.” Y/n took a sip of her drink. “What were you up to today?”

‘Thinking of you and hoping to whatever’s out there that Stevie didn’t say what I wanna say to you.’ He thought.

“Oh, nothing much.” He said instead. “Honestly, I was looking forward to this the whole day. I really like hanging out with you, Y/n.”

“Aw, I really like hanging out with you too, Malcolm.”

This must be a sign. Right? Why would you really like being around someone unless you like them to some degree? But did she mean it in a friendly way like Malcolm should have meant, or did she mean it in a more than friendly way like Malcolm did mean?

Malcolm was starting to think that Stevie was right about him obsessing.

“So, what are you gonna have?” the question pulled Malcolm out of his thoughts, but that only made him have different thoughts. Malcolm had actually gotten to the restaurant before Y/n on purpose to talk to the waiter. After he and Stevie realized they both liked Y/n, Hal found out. And being the hands-on man he was when it came to his sons’ love lives, he decided to help Malcolm out. Malcolm didn’t take all of his dad’s suggestions, but there was one that stuck with him.

Whatever Y/n ordered, Malcolm told the server to stick a note that he had given him to the side of her plate. It was a note explaining how he felt about her. He knew that if he tried saying it, he would just chicken out. So the note ensured that she would know of his feelings.

But now that she was so close to finding the note, he was starting to feel sick.

“Uhhhh, I don’t know. I’ll probably figure it out before the server comes.” But very soon, the waiter came. Malcolm just picked the first appealing thing he saw on the menu, not that he was feeling very picky. Then Y/n ordered, and the waiter left, leaving the two to themselves.

“Can I ask you something?” Y/n asked, taking a bite of the appetizer Malcolm had ordered.

“Sure,” Malcolm said nervously, though he tried not to show it.

“Is there a reason why you and Stevie have been wanting to hang out with me so much lately? I mean, I don’t mind, but it kinda seemed out of the blue. I don’t know, maybe I’m just imagining it.”

“You’re not.” Malcolm cut off what was about to become a ramble. Y/n looked up, somewhat confused.

“I’m not?”

“No.” Malcolm took a deep breath. Looks like he wouldn’t be needing that note after all. “Y/n, the truth is-”

“Here you go.” The server had come back with their food, faster than usual, the two noted. He set the dishes down in front of them and after making sure they didn’t need anything else, made his way to leave. “Enjoy.” The two were now alone again, but with more tension than when the waiter had come. Malcolm was about to tell Y/n that he liked her and Y/n was waiting to find out what had been up with him and Stevie the past few weeks. But no one wanted to speak first.

Y/n grabbed her plate and pulled it closer to her. Malcolm saw confusion cross her face as she felt for something on the underside of the plate. Malcolm’s eyes widened. She was about to find the note.

“That’s weird.” Y/n pulled it off of the dish and looked at the piece of paper. She flipped the paper for Malcolm to see. He looked at her name, which was written in his nicest handwriting. Which she recognized. “Did you do this?”

She knew the answer, but she wanted to hear him say it.

“Yeah…” She smiled, unfolding the note, and started to read it. Malcolm was terrified as he watched her. He didn’t think this far ahead. What if she rejected him? What if she left, leaving him to wallow in despair knowing that he blew it, his only chance? What if Stevie had told her how he felt, and now she’d have to let him down easy? He should’ve never listened to his dad. His dad finding his mom must have been an outlier, and he and his brothers were doomed to be unhappy and loveless. He would never find that antidote that Hal told him and his brothers about, that balanced out the insanity that was the Wilkerson boys’ hormones.

“Malcolm…” She sighed. Oh God, this was it. She was going to reject him, leave, and he’d never see him again. “This is the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me.”

“What?” That was not the response Malcolm was expecting. It was the one he had hoped for, but he didn’t think it would happen. “Really?”

“Yes!” She kept staring at the note, reading the lines over and over as if she was trying to engrave it in her brain. “It’s so beautiful. I love it.”

Malcolm let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding.

“You do?”

“Yeah.” She slid out of the booth. She walked to his side and sat down next to Malcolm. “Were you telling the truth? Do you really like me?”

He nodded. He knew that if he said anything now, it would turn into an out-pour of words and would never stop.

“Thank God.” Note still in hand, Y/n grabbed Malcolm’s face and pulled him towards her in a long, sensual kiss. They knew that they were still in public, but they didn’t care. They were finally doing what they had wanted to do for so long.

Malcolm felt bad for Stevie. He’d never be able to experience this with Y/n, because she chose Malcolm. He knew he’d get over it someday and they’d still be best friends. But right now, Malcolm was focused on a more pressing matter. He pulled away from Y/n, somewhat reluctantly.

“Y/n, will you be my girlfriend?”

“Of course, Malcolm.”

Overfilled with joy, Malcolm kissed her again. And again. And again.

More Curly Shepard Headcanons

-Him and Angela used to go ‘swimming’ in the ditch when it rained and Tim always got SO pissed

-Him and Ponyboy share music and it’s the worst music in the universe and everyone else in both the Shepard and Curtis gang refuse to ever let them control the record player, cassette, or radio

-Was that kid who could not handle red dye in his food and whose parents could not care less so my guy was tweaking in his first grade classroom

-Angela once dared him to eat grass and he did

-He is good at flirting to distract someone or get out of trouble or to look tuff but HORRENDOUS at flirting with someone he’s actually interested in so for a while before him and Pony got together his behaviour was strange af

-Angela once dared him to moon a Jehovah’s Witness who kept coming to their door and he did

-Marlboros are kind of considered ‘girly’ cigarettes in Tulsa but they’re Curly’s favourite until he gets together with Ponyboy who converts him to liking Kools best (because Pony always smells like Kools and they’re the only kind he ever has on him and Curly isn’t gonna smoke his own cigs when he can steal his boyfriends so)

-Angela once dared him to snort pudding powder and he did. He had to mouth breathe for three days until all the pudding was gone but he swears he met god himself and that it was worth it

-Not a fan of any sort of physical contact, partially because he’s used to contact meaning pain, and partially because he just doesn’t like it. He’ll allow a hug from Angela when he gets home from the reformatory, and he used to hold her hand when they were little and one of them was upset, but usually the only person he actually likes to touch him is Ponyboy

-Angela once dared him to climb a telephone pole and he did and he broke his arm in three places and Tim was pissed

-He goes to track practices to support Ponyboy but it’s less support and more living heckling. If anyone else joins in on the heckling though, Curly throws hands. After the third fight Curly got banned from spectating on any school sporting events or practices so now he stands just off school property and throws gravel at the track team when they run past

-Angela once dared him to shave off both of his eyebrows and he did and then they grew back SUPER thick

-He used to bait alley cats into fighting each other until he got invited to a chicken fight by one of the guys in the Shepard gang and realised it was SO much better to watch

-Angela once dared him to rob a liquor store and he did. Tim made Angela stop giving him dares after that.

-Curly is smart enough to not antagonise Darry Curtis any more than he antagonises anyone else but he absolutely DELIGHTS in annoying Sodapop whenever he gets the chance and Soda is ready to fight on sight atp

•Kenny was born to two philanthropist, entitled, classy, rich people. But he was an accident that neither of them wanted to take care of really. They hired a nanny and she quite literally raised Ken until he was 12. That’s when his parents decided that he was old enough and fired her. This is what really starts out the, “here’s your monthly $10,000, go to school we’re going on our second cruise this year.”

•His grandma tries her best to take care of him from a distance since she lives in DC. She does call him nearly daily and they’re pretty close.

•Although, Ken’s a year younger than the others he joins a theater company when he’s 11 and meets Rosie. The Rosenthals quickly take pity in Ken and they give him rides to and from theater, let him come over and stay with them, feed him dinner. You know, actually loving this child.

•Ken and Rosie are bestie westies they would spend a lot of nights sitting in silence or talking about the boys Ken liked. Or they would make up their own theater performances and play dress up.

•The Rosenthals invite Ken to their family Hanukkah celebration. During Christmas they let him come over and Mrs. Rosenthal made Ken’s favorites and even got him a few presents. They’re really the closest thing Ken has to a family.

•So, when Ken gets his drivers license he’s left with his dad’s garage full of luxury cars. But his motorcycle is what really and always had caught his eye.

•His father tries to use this as an opportunity to love his son. Or you know, using expensive gifts to show their love. His dad teaches him how to drive it but it was really just Ken figuring it out by himself while his dad took business call after call.

•This is shortly before Curt started eye fucking Ken in gym class till he came over and talked to him. They were so down bad for each other, Curt giggled like a fucking school girl the first few times Ken took him for rides on his bike.

“Curt texted me last night telling me that Ken took him on his motorcycle!” John blabbed across the lunch table making a kissy face and sound at Curt.

Curt literally just reaches across the table and smacks him with a sandwich.

•Ken’s super super interested in engineering he picks up occasional shifts at the same garage Curt’s mom works at. Ken really knows his way around a car, he was super into them when he was younger. He’s just the kinda twink who can pop your hood and fix your problem for you.

•Ken tries out for the football just so he can spend more time with Curt. Think Kurt Hummel auditions for the role of kicker. Just look at this post lmao.

•Him and Curt listen to music together on the bus to and from football games. Corded headphones and each has one, they have a collaborative playlist together. Some of their favorites are Deftones, Mac Miller, Childish Gambino, Arctic Monkeys, etc. check out this playlist for more :3!

•Their ideal date night though is a hand selected bottle of wine from Angela Lemmons wine cellar, a cheesy movie or Marvels movie(they’re watching them in order), and a puzzle or a Lego set, sometimes they paint together.

•Usually, they finish the puzzle or lego set but sometimes they’re too wine drunk to finish or Curt’s carrying Ken up to his bedroom ;).

•If it wasn’t obvious yet, Ken is a wine connoisseur. He really likes white wines and anything a little fruity.

•Brady wants to learn his ways.

•Ken is an avid painter as well!! He liked doing it in art class and brought the interest home with him. So of course, his parents bought him the most expensive paints and brushes and canvas’s. Because that’s how they always were. He’s pretty much self taught aside from art classes. He paints this in high school and it now hangs in their house 15 years later.

•The only time Curt and Ken ever really fight it’s about money. Ken has more than plenty and Curt’s literally working every single day and pulls open to closes every weekend. Curt had been running on nearly no rest and three Red Bulls a day. He couldn’t afford to not work. over the course of five months, He watched Curt’s health decline and he was losing weight like crazy. He’d come home from work at 11 and pass out in Ken’s bed after stumbling out of his work clothes. That or he would sleep on the couch at his apartment. His back was hurting and he was so tired and nauseated.

•Flash forward it’s been too many months of this. Curt had called Ken around 8:30 asking him if he could come pick him up. He had kinda given into his body and left Ham and Dickie to man the Taco Bell without him. However, Ken was relieved that Curt maybe was coming to his senses.

•Curt literally stumbled out the door and regained his balance a little bit before getting into his car. Curt opened the passenger door and threw himself in and just said.

“Take me to the er.”

•This is when it really started, Ken had kept offering Curt money. But Curt will not take handouts or money from anyone. He feels like he needs to earn everything himself and he provides for his family at the ripe age of 18.

“Just take it, it’s not like I’m missing any of it.” Ken ripped the check from the checkbook and slid it across the table.

“No, I’m not taking your money. It’s fine I have it under control.”

“Curt, you were in the hospital.”

•Thus leads to Ken putting money into his account without him knowing. It’s never enough at a time for it to be super noticeable or he tucks it into a savings account.

Some of my Tracer Headcanons:

-The slipstream gave her PTSD. She doesn’t have nightmares as often very more, thankfully and makes sure to tell her therapist when she has.

-She’s the person to go to for advice when an Overwatch Agent realises they’re LGBTQ or is questioning. I actually did a fic about that on my AO3!

-She and Brigitte have a sisterly relationship. When her chronal accelerator was first built it worked but needed modification, so Winston sent her to Tobjorn’s, where she met Brigitte. Where did I get this? Their interaction in the “Zero Hour” cinematic.

-She convinces Hana to see a therapist.

-Her blaster have a stun mode and a lethal mode. She usually uses the former when not fighting drones.

She has trouble with self worth and used to worry she was a burden to everyone else.

Angela is a sort of mother figure to her, despite her not being much older.

When she’s angry, you’ll wish she yells. She gets all cold and doesn’t really talk to you and within the hour you’ll be begging for forgiveness.

Whenever she needs an injection she needs to be held - not just because she hates needles, but to keep her still.
