AL-AN’s colors
Alright so I’ve been trying to make understanding AL-AN’s colors as easy as possible for me, so I’ll start with color coding his lines in the fabricator base. I’ve decided to only use the final version of the game for this. The colors in Robin’s lines also indicate AL-AN’s color as she says them.
Before data transfer begins.
Robin commences data transfer.
AL-AN stretches.
AL-AN: It has been some time since I last stretched out in so many dimensions. Like waking from a dream.
AL-AN picks Robin up with his levitator arm.
Robin: Whoa! Hey.
AL-AN waves back.
Robin: You’re really not in my head anymore?
AL-AN: There are some remnants. (Pause.) Would you like your memories of me removed as well?
Robin: Are you kidding? No way. You still owe me the end of your story.
AL-AN: I told you I must return home. To assess. Repair. Make amends.
Robin: Tell me more.
AL-AN: When the bacteria escaped, it was my fault. I disobeyed the directive from my network. (Pause.)
AL-AN stares off into space.
Robin: Oh no...
AL-AN turns green and teleports to the terminal.
AL-AN: We noticed that a species of leviathan young produced an enzyme that is efficient against the bacteria. I thought if we incubated Sea Dragon eggs, we might expedite their hatching. I was not wrong...
Robin: But...
AL-AN: It would appear that Sea Dragon parents are stronger and more motivated than our facility was rated to handle.
Robin: And the bacteria got out, infecting everything. How many survived the outbreak, back home? Are they still waiting for someone to bring back a cure?
AL-AN: I do not know.
Robin: Can I help?
AL-AN: The fact that I withheld this information does not concern you?
Robin: It was certainly manipulative. But I’ve also made my own share of mistakes. I’m still committed to helping.
AL-AN: I accept your help. Find me at the Gate when you are ready. In te meantime, I must prepare.
The colors used are as follows:
Purple
Cool pink
Green
Warm pink with hints of orange
Blue
Saturated neutral to warm pink
Orange
I'll get into what I think the colors mean in a second, but first let me preface it by saying that I could have gotten some of the colors wrong as the lighting conditions change in the scene. I also want to mention that I don't think the emotion behind a color varies from Architect to Architect. They seem to value efficiency, so having to learn the color-emotion combinations of each Architect would not be ideal. Therefore, I think this color chart applies not only to AL-AN, but to every Architect.
Purple seems to be a sort of stand-by color, as well as a color between some of the color shifts (not apparent in my color coding above). It could possibly mean there is no consciousness currently inhabiting the vessel. The in between shifts of purple could just be a product of two colors blending together as they shift from one to the other.
Cool pink seems to be a neutral color. AL-AN is not feeling any specific emotion strongly enough for it to show. It is possible that AL-AN could suppress his feelings somewhat, resulting in this neutral color.
Green seems to signify a heavier processing load and analytical thinking. He turns green as he mentions the need to assess the state of his homeworld. He turns green when he notices or remembers the terminal and what his next step for now is. What's perplexing is that he turns green when stretching too, but this could be explained by the fact that AL-AN is getting reacquainted with an Architect vessel after having been in storage and in Robin's mind for a long time. He is also waking up the facility from what seems to be a low power mode as well as powering on the robotic arms. I believe this would need some processing power. Furthermore, it does make sense that Architects would predominantly use green in their work in this case as they seem to value information and knowledge.
Warm pink with hints of orange gives me the impression of fondness and companionship. He turns this color when first looking at and interacting with Robin in his new body, before the weight of his past mistakes crashes into him again as he tells her his story.
Blue looks to me like joy or possibly amusement. He turns this color when waving back and when Robin speaks to him. He could be happy just for that, or perhaps because he is happy he is no longer limited to her cerebral cortex and can now start making real progress in returning to his home and making amends.
Saturated pink could mean embarrassment. It makes sense when applied to the part where he talks about the accident being his fault. The embarrassment he feels after waving back and hearing Robin ask if he's really not in her head anymore could be because he does not know what the gesture means, that he's a bit embarrassed by the awed reaction from Robin, because there is a bit of an awkward silence at that moment, or because of the fond and joyful feelings he's having at the moment. And then he's only feeling embarrassment as he talks about what he thought was his foolproof solution regarding the incubation of the Sea Dragon eggs. He remains embarrassed from there on out—for not knowing the extent of the damage he caused back home, for withholding crucial information about him. It could be a reason for wanting some space from Robin, telling her to meet him at the Gate when she's ready. Though perhaps he simply needs time to prepare or is only giving Robin time to prepare and his suggestion is unrelated to his embarrassment.
Orange seems like anger. He turns orange after admitting that he disobeyed the directive from his network, which he is probably angry with himself for. Orange shows up only once in this entire scene for a very brief amount of time, and I feel it makes sense in case it does signify anger, as AL-AN does not come across as someone who is easy to anger.
This is how I interpreted his colors anyhow. Some emotions we didn't get to see being represented by a color, like sadness, grief, fear, and love, or perhaps I am simply wrong in my assessment. It's possible these emotions have their own colors, but will need to exist outside of canon.
TL;DR
Purple — Stand-by. No consciousness inhabiting the vessel.
Cool pink — Neutral.
Green — Processing. Analyzing.
Warm pink with hints of orange — Fondness. Companionship.
Blue — Joy. Amusement.
Saturated neutral to warm pink — Embarrassment.
Orange — Anger.

Could you make a recap of the s2 as you watch it
Hey, thank you for the ask- I have already posted something similar to this here, it's a lil passionate and disoriented with more emotions and less facts. If you want something more organized I can put a recap of the entire season here.
Warning: Spoilers for Shadow and Bone S2
The show starts right where they left it. Mal and Alina are traveling to Novyi Zem, they have plans to find the Sea Whip. In Ketterdam, Jesper, Kaz and Inej are framed for the murder of Tante Heleen by Pekka Rollins. He has also taken over the Crow Club. Kaz informs Nikolai about Alina's whereabouts in order to escape from the Stadwatch. Nina and Wylan gets recruited along the way. Alina somehow ends up Sturmhond's ship, unlike the book there is no Darkling here. Kaz has some revenge issues but we love him for that so yk, he is after Pekka and Inej and Jesper have some trust issues with Kaz. Pekka plays them quite well and Kaz blows up the Crow Club. The scenes play out just like the books. Here Per Haskell is shown different from Kaz in the terms of club. Kaz plays out Pekka just according to the books. In Ravka, the main action is quite similar to the books with Alina doing away with the Sea Whip and returning to the fold to destroy it, she fails spectacularly. Nikolai introduces himself as the second in line, the crows are appointed to find a sword Neshyenyer that was stolen by The Disciple (turns out his wife is a Saint) in order to kill the shadow monsters. They do get successful but not without the usual troubles and some rather emotional flashbacks. Genya and David made plans to run away from Darkling's abode but Genya gets caught only to end up in a dire state. David run aways to The Spinning Needle and tries to explain the scenario with his zero social skills ability, not to mention Vasily gets himself murdered with his own stupidity and Queen Tantiana gets what she deserved in the long run. Baghra and Genya make it till and Alina and Baghra being a moody teachers pulls her strings and clears Alina's head of romance and insane ideas. Baghra, Mal and Alina plan to go in search of the Firebird only to discover that Mal is the Firebird. With this short knowledge that could act as a leverage over Darkling, Baghra sacrifices herself to cut out the link between Alina and Aleksander. Darkling and his small yet powerful army of Grisha march down on Nikolai's army and lose in a passionate affair, some lives are lost. Alina finally decides to sacrifice Mal for 2 minutes and vanquish the fold but like always all plans go astray and she actually has to kill him. It turns out she is powerful enough to vanquish the Fold and kill Aleksander and use the cut. All ends well but the epilogue is sadder than anything so far, with everyone going their separate ways. The real trouble begins with Nikolai's mosters and the Jurda Parem, a potential chance for the third season if fates and Netflix allows. That would be more like a crossover between Six of Crows duology and King of Scars duology. Apart from that, the second season was more of the crows against Pekka Rollins and working as thieves to help save Ravka (Nikolai offered a handsome amount ;D) and the Shadow and Bone trilogy, altered at multiple places to make space for the crows. Otherwise the show was significant with good writing and might I mention amazing cast for all the characters, hope you get to see it sooner, Anon! :)
Also praying that the Saints give us a a third season!

Being Baby Blue
Rise Ramblings #313
Leonardo Hamato is…an interesting individual.
As a middle child, he doesn’t have to shoulder the responsibilities of the oldest, nor is he fawned upon or babied over like the youngest. Therefore, he ends up having more of a lackadaisical approach to life.
In his free time, instead of training like Raph, Leo can normally be found reading comic books.
And for good reason! Someone has to be up on the latest issues of Jupiter Jim and his space odysseys.
But, other than being a Jupiter Jim superfan, who is Leonardo Hamato?
If you ask Leo, he's...*takes out a list*:
“Primetime,” “First,” “The Best,” “Number One,” “The Champion,” or some other iteration of all of the above.
...Huh. Anyways...
Of course, the first thing Leo would tell you is that he's the team's "Face Man."
As the "Face Man," he’s the one that turns up the charm when they need to schmooze their way out of, or into, something.
He's the face of the group! It's a very important title, right?
Well, in this scene with Hueso, we learn what Leo really feels about his place on the team.
"There's no team with just a face man." "I'm nothing without them."
Hmm. If he thinks that he is nothing without his brothers, then what's the deal with all of this "Number One" and "Champion" talk?
I believe that Leo is exhibiting a form of Reaction Formation.
Reaction Formation is a primitive defense mechanism that involves transforming one's unacceptable feelings or emotions into the opposite.
"Solicitude may be a reaction-formation against cruelty...romantic notions of chastity and purity may mask crude sexual desires, altruism may hide selfishness, and piety may conceal sinfulness."
Leo has been creating these grandiose titles and this larger-than-life persona for himself as a means to cope with his feelings of insecurity, his anxieties, and combat his self-deprecation.
Gee, forming a larger-than-life persona to counteract their suppressed feelings also reminds me of someone else we know…
But, I digress...
Behind the fabrications, his insecurities, who he pretends to be, and who he wants to be, the real Leo is still on display, starting as early as the first episode.
He's attentive, he understands the team's strengths and weaknesses, he assesses situations, he comes up with great plans on the fly, and he is a voice of reason.
These are all the characteristics of a great leader.
However, something happens when he’s actually appointed as such.
There he goes again. He's cocky, arrogant, and act's as if he's unphased even by the prospect of loosing his brothers. If this is Reaction Formation, then what is he trying to mask with these behaviors?
Previously, he was masking his insecurities, his anxieties, and his self-deprecation, but with the faces he pulls when he thinks no one can see them, I want to say the newest emotion is fear.
He is terrified of being the leader and floundering under his new responsibilities. He's scared of the consequences of his actions, and what those consequences may mean for his brothers. However, instead of voicing his insecurities, or communicating with his team, he doubles down and falls back into old habits.
The "Face Man" persona is turned up to an 11, and things get worse and worse until...
His greatest fears have been realized.
He has failed as a leader. He has failed his brothers. He has failed to stop the invasion, and they are all going to die because of his failures.
Now he's faced with the harsh reality of his own mistakes, thus he finally faces himself.
"It's scary to be responsible for the lives you protect, your team...your family. But we do it anyway because that's what it means to be a hero."
He may be speaking to Raph, but he's talking about himself.
His words are his true feelings, the same feelings that have been holding him back this entire time. By opening up, he's able to surrender to himself and let it all go.
And it's the breakthrough we all have been waiting for.
What Leo doesn't know is that through letting go, he's able to become the true face of the group he is destined to be.
He's the face of hope.
