Just thinking about how much I love all the different parts of Tiger & Bunny for different reasons.

The Beginning: It’s so much fun! Like they condensed nearly everything that makes the early episodes entertaining into a 1.5-hour movie. Easy way to get a taste of the series without making a 25-episode commitment. My favorite scene remains all the heroes getting ready to hit the amusement park after the ill-advised gathering at the bar. I wouldn’t say start with it if you’re new to the series, but it’s my favorite thing to put on when I want T&B but I'm not feeling a full rewatch.

Tiger & Bunny: Literally everything I have ever wanted from a TV series, oh my God. Superheroes! A single dad! A forced partnership between two opposite characters! “I’ll never forget you wasted three minutes of my life” growing slowly closer over the course of 25 episodes to end up sobbing over the thought of living without each other, which is my favorite kind of character arc! The show slams its way through tropes like it’s trying to hit a blackout on a fic bingo board (single parent! accidental baby acquisition! amnesia! rivals to lovers!). Not to mention all the time put in to making us love each and every single one of the main characters and several of the minor ones, and the consistent theme that it’s not the powers that make a hero, but their heart. Just absolutely *chef’s kiss* perfect.

The Rising: God! GOD!! A canonical, professionally animated break up/make up fic??? The angst! The pining! The miscommunication stemming from Kotetsu’s own dismal view of his self-worth in light of his powers and how he believes he is holding Barnaby back! Barnaby desperately trying to convey how much he wants/needs Kotetsu in his life without holding him back! The soft looks on their faces when they’re finally reunited! NATHAN’S BACKSTORY! It’s two hours of angst with a deliriously happy ending and the scene where Barnaby and Kotetsu finally power up together and face off against the giant metal crab makes my heart sing.

Tiger & Bunny 2: You know, a lot of shows would fall back on the miscommunication clashes and conflicts that made them so successful in the first place. It worked once, so it should work again, right? But no. No. Tiger & Bunny recognized that what we wanted now was battle couple and married romcom shenanigans and holy mcfucking shit did they deliver. Whereas before a lot of the conflict from the series came from Barnaby and Kotetsu not fucking talking, here they are SOLID. They are UNITED. They TALK TO EACH OTHER. They are trying DESPERATELY to HAVE A GODDAMN DATE in the midst of helping their friends and trying to keep the city from falling apart. They have the most petty fights that drive their friends bonkers but is just how they say “I love you.” Twenty-five episodes of them being the most Married Partners that you ever did see and it ends with a promise to be partners forever. Cemented its place as my favorite anime ever.

I just. God. The anime of all time, y’all.

Meet the Seiyuu: Floyd Leech

Okamoto Nobuhiko enrolled in Pro Fit Voice Actor Training Institute (the same academy as Sebek’s Ishiya Haruki) while working part-time jobs at McDonald’s, 7-11, the post office and as a security guard in order to pay his tuition.

Today is his birthday!

Okamoto won a voice-acting award for Best Newcomer in 2009, the same year he graduated from university. He would go on to win a best supporting actor award in 2011.

He made his singer debut in 2012 with mini-album “Palette”

At the end of 2021 the Pro Fit agency announced that they would be discontinuing operations for a time. In order to help the voice actors who were being dropped Okamoto established his own agency and was able to successfully transfer over the contracts of nearly all of Pro Fit’s actors in February 2022.

Okamoto is adept at board games. He wished to become a professional shogi player as a child and has received training from professionals. Also a fan of Pokemon, he once interviewed producer Junichi Masuda in an issue of Dengeki Nintendo Magazine.

Okamoto’s first lead character role was in 2006’s Ghost Hunt as John Brown. He has since had lead roles in over 230 video games and anime, including Ivan Karelin in Tiger and Bunny, Dagger in Toboso Yana’s Book of Circus, Katsuki Bakugo in My Hero Academia, Garfiel Tinsel in Re:Zero and more.

Okamoto is a prolific actor, appearing in on-stage musicals and TV shows while also voicing animated movies, providing narration, doing radio shows, dubbing foreign films, recording drama CDs and audio books and more.

Okamoto is a member of the Seiyou Tube Channel on YouTube, which mostly seems to consist of seiyuu who are friends with one another live-streaming video games. He has a video with Silver’s Shimazaki Nobunaga, and this one boxing with Sebek’s Ishiya Haruki 

And here he is playing Dark Souls III with Riddle’s voice actor Hanae Natsuki

There is also this video where he introduces Twisted Wonderland to new players and explains the battle system, lesson system, etc. In what seems like a very rare move for seiyuu, he actually uses Floyd’s voice at various points in his explanation; it’s a delight to watch.

I had to do this one because I was curious about the shoujo-esque styled Yuri comic on the side. Apparently it was a review comic of the drama special included with Vol 6 of the dvd/blu-ray release for Season 1. It was drawn by Kiki and included on pg 22 of the magazine this blurb appeared in.

I’ve also uploaded something probably not many know about - Official CD Audio Dramas! Each archive contains audio drama and cast talk.

Audio Dramas is little stories set at different points of main series. Wanted to hear how Kotetsu and Antonio met each other, how Yuri Petrov got dragged into Heroes’ antics and what he thinks of them, or how one time Keith and Ivan went to fundoshi club that Nathan owns? (you’ll never guess why - and no, I’m not making this up! :D) Now is your chance! You can find translations for them HERE!

Cast Talk is seiyuu, well, talking about pretty much anything – like, what was their reactions to getting a role in Tiger & Bunny, thoughts on characters they play, discussions of drama story and series in general (that has been ongoing / already ended by the time of recording) and just them goofing around. These are not translated, unfortunately, but still fun listen to! :D

Omg so that is like the 3rd post I have seen that said Tomoe had glasses but like...when?? When she was in high school? Where did y'all get this information lol

In high school, yes. It’s in one of the audio dramas, where Antonio and Kotetsu are telling Nathan about how they met. Tomoe was Kotetsu’s class representative, and he called her Ms. Glasses (and it’s implied he’s called her that a lot):

Tomoe: May I have a moment of your time, Mr. Kotetsu T Kaburagi?

Kotetsu: Hm? What is it, Ms. Glasses?

Tomoe: Stop calling me that. I have a name; it's Amamiya.

Kotetsu: Soooo terrible sorrrry, Ms. Class Rep.

Gee golly whiz, that exchange looks familiar, huh. >.>

Here’s the full transcript! It’s pretty great and kind of hilarious to see what kind of teenagers Antonio and Kotetsu were, and also to see how Kotetsu and Tomoe first started to like each other.

[UPDATED!] TIGER&BUNNY Fans, Want More Tiger&Bunny? [UPDATED!]

I made [a post] a while back with links to read the manga and watch the movies online. Unfortunately KissManga and KissAnime have gone down for good.

However! @thirdleagueheroes has been translating [TIGER&BUNNY THE COMIC], the Canon manga series, and has their translations posted for download! They currently have up to chapter 31 (out of 41 total) listed [HERE]!

There are also several comic anthologies. There is a full list [here].

There are two companion shorts called [“Side Bunny”] and [“Side Tiger”] in which all the other heroes visit the respective main character’s apartment. "Side Bunny” takes place sometime during the ten months between [episode 13] and [episode 14]. “Side Tiger” takes place one month after the epilogue. There are two movies -

The first half of [Tiger&Bunny: The Beginning] is basically a recap of the first two episodes, but it also includes a lot of extra scenes that were cut from the aired episodes and an extra episode that takes place between episode 2 and episode 3. It’s definitely worth the watch. In fact I would recommend watching The Beginning then starting the series at episode 3.

[Tiger&Bunny: The Rising] takes place sometime 1 to 3 years after the anime ends about 2 years after the epilogue.

Unfortunately I don’t know where you can watch the movies for free online, but you can buy them on DVD [HERE] and [HERE], as well as the whole first series [HERE] and [HERE].

EDIT: Thanks to @tiptapricot for letting me know that [wcostream.com] has the English Dub of the series and both movies available in full and in good quality for free! An ad blocker would be recommended but not necessary. If you have Hulu, they also have the series in both sub and dub, but not either of the movies.

EDIT 3/6/21: TIGER&BUNNY is back on US NETFLIX as well as many European countries’ NETFLIX, however they have still removed the sponsors and have also removed after credit scenes.

All of the above ↑ are 100% Canon.

There is a third manga serialization, by Sakakibara Mizuki, that deviates from Canon. It sort of follows the first couple episodes, but goes full AU by episode 8. I don’t know of anywhere you can read it online, but it did get an official English translation through VIZ, and you can buy it [HERE].
