Hi Anon! Thanks for your prompt. Sorry it's taken me so long! Your song was Getaway Car by Taylor Swift.
tags: Christmas party, implied and past Bucky/Brock but it's a bad choice, toxic ex, meet-cute???
The ties were black, the lies were white In shades of gray in candlelight I wanted to leave him, I needed a reason
Bucky sighs in relief as the loud bass from inside the venue becomes a dull muffle when the door shuts behind him. He sees the fog of his breath wave away in the winter wind along with his irritation.
This was a mistake. He doesn’t enjoy Christmas parties at the best of times and he’s certainly not enjoying the one tonight. It’s not even his office Christmas party, but he was a plus one in an attempt to rekindle something with his ex-boyfriend, and he didn’t want to be a dick immediately and say no.
“Having a good night?” A voice from a few yards to his left asks. There’s a guy with broad shoulders leaning against the wall under the heat lamp with one hand in his pocket and another holding a cigarette. From the way he’s dressed — dark pants and a nice red shirt — Bucky figures he’s also an escapee from the festivities inside.
“No,” Bucky replies, honestly. “I think I made a mistake.”
The laugh that comes from the voice is a deep rumble and the man gestures to the heat lamp, indicating there’s space to share. Bucky is too cold to continue standing away from a source of heat, and he doesn’t want to go back inside where he was certainly going to end up with a headache.
“I’m starving,” the man says. “Why do they only serve appetizers? I think I got only half a slider.”
“I managed to get some sort of mushroom thing,” Bucky replies. That was also a reason he decided to step outside. Between the noise of the DJ inside and the lack of food, his head is kind of spinning. He’s dying for a slice of pizza. A full slice, not those tiny little squares.
“You smoke?” The man asks, lifting up his cigarette. Bucky shakes his head. “I haven’t seen you around. Are you new?”
“No, I’m a plus one.”
“Your…” The man’s eyes — blue now that they’re up close — glance down at his fingers.
“My nothing, really. Should-have-stayed-an-ex. He, uh, we just kinda got back together.”
The man nods.
Bucky hates the holidays. The festive season sucks anyway, but when he’s single then it’s especially too easy to slip back into old habits. Bucky’s reconnection with Brock was a mistake. He had ignored the warning bells because he was lonely and it was easy to remember the good stuff when he was feeling that way. Brock had been the one to reach out and Bucky was too weak to say no and spend the holidays on his own. So when Brock also invited him to his office Christmas party, Bucky felt like he couldn’t refuse and it would prove he was serious about making another go of things.
“You know when you get back together with someone and you quickly remember why you broke up in the first place?” Bucky questions, not really expecting an answer, but he gets one anyway in the form of a knowing nod from this stranger he’s pouring his heart out to. “I’m Bucky, by the way.”
“Steve.” The man gestures inside the ballroom. “So, who is he?”
“Brock Rumlow,” Bucky admits, and by the hiss out of Steve’s mouth, he already feels embarrassed by it. “We broke up in the summer. It… yeah, we should have stayed that way. Do you work with him?”
“Not if I can avoid it. We’ve gotten into clashes a couple of times. Fortunately, I work in the graphics department so I don’t speak to him that often.”
They lapse into a comfortable silence.
“I don’t even smoke,” Steve admits, lifting up his dwindling cigarette. “I just tell people I do so I can get ten minutes to myself when I need it. I just came out at the wrong time and someone offered me a light.”
Bucky snorts. “So I guess you’re not a fan of company-mandated fun either?”
“Oh, I’m only here until a reasonable time that I can make an excuse and leave. I was supposed to have a friend come tonight but she had to work last minute.”
“That sucks.”
“Well, she’s a paramedic so I guess I can’t be too mad at her.” Steve waits for his cigarette to get down to the end before he stubs it out and puts it in the nearby trash can. “Do you have to go back inside?”
“Probably, but I don’t think Brock has even noticed I’m gone. He was too busy making asshole jokes about his co-workers and hanging around the bar. I hate dealing with him when he’s drunk.” Bucky leans his head against the wall, regretting every thinking getting back with Brock was a good idea.
Steve looks at his watch. “Hmm, it’s past nine so I think that’s my cue to go home. Hopefully I can get my stuff from the coat check without my manager spotting me.”
Bucky nods and watches Steve and his broad shoulders move towards the door. But Steve hovers nearby.
“Hey, uh, do you have a ticket for the coat check too?”
“Yeah?” He frowns a little. Steve ducks his head and rubs the back of his neck.
“I was just wondering since we both had terrible nights and all — and it’s only nine — wanna get outta here and do something? Maybe get some actual food? I could go get your stuff for you so you don’t run into Brock.”
Bucky’s entire demeanor must be screaming out ‘yes’ because he immediately digs out his ticket for the coat check and hands it over, even though there’s a risk Steve — a man he met less than ten minutes ago — could just take off with his stuff and never be seen again.
Somehow he doesn’t think that’ll be the case.
“I’ll be back in a few minutes.”
An hour later, they’re in a small mom n’ pop pizza joint four blocks away eating their way through two entire pepperoni pizzas, beers and singing along to the Christmas songs playing out of the tinny speakers.
Maybe the holidays aren’t so bad.

Candy - Talk Talk
Rating: Mature
A/N: Be warned this is my projection of being in active alcoholism. But make it a songfic and interpret past shitty relationships. Shit warps your reality, thoughts, perceptions. Basically a lot of slipping into alcoholism is a slow slide triggered into GO TIME by an emotional/traumatic or even euphoric event so def not fic Bucky’s fault. Very unreliable narrator. Sequel of sorts to Tommy’s Party
Tags: TW ADHERE!! sui ideation, explicit descriptions of withdrawals, alcoholism and alcohol abuse, toxic relationships, depression, delusional thinking, drug abuse, just dreadful really
Tumblr media
This sure is some kind of party. It's so useful. Surrounds my life with excuses. For what I choose to lose.
You knew this was stupid. So stupid. Wanda had tried to persuade you to go to another party that didn’t include your roommate cum ex-boyfriend. But nope. You were drunk already and wanted to feel something— whether that be chaos, pain, or the gentle caress of oblivion.
The parties masked the pain of living with the man you still loved. The man who had clearly moved on with new flings every week. You drank and danced to find an excuse to not think think fucking think all the damn time.
You don’t have to wonder what you did wrong with a stomach full of booze and nose full of adderall. Kept you in the moment. Therefore if you went out every night with the ‘wrong crowd’ that was your problem. The rest of day you could spend hungover and sleeping away your amounting problems.
And my name. Doesn't look the same to me.
Your advisor had sent you to a counselor because of your plummeting grades. The lady asked if you were depressed. “No, just tired,” you lied.
“How much do you drink a week?”
Once.
You were fine as long as you had your new lover. Although he was consuming you, transforming you into something better, freer, no cares in the world. The girl you always wanted to be. The one who stared back at you with glazed eyes and reddened cheeks in the mirror was a different person. Thank god.
And inside, don't you know I feel so bad.
Bucky pulled you aside the other day, his stupidly handsome face all wrought with concern. He gripped your shoulder, pretty pink mouth trembling, pissed, “What’s happened to you? You’re throwing your life away.” You shoved him away, hissing, “Since when did you care? You haven’t spoken to me in weeks. Just leave me be I’m fine.”
He trembled in anger, throwing up his hands. Bucky tried to stay level but ended up shouting, “I do care! It’s fucking hell watching you poison yourself and run with those,” he bit his lip and paused, “Those alpha fucks.”
You stared at him blankly. There was a fifth behind your bed. Walking to your room you said over your shoulder, “It’s only okay for you when everything’s perfect.”
You heard something get thrown, vodka dripping down your heaving throat.
Candy, when I tried to turn away. To feel new again.
You shoved Brock off your shaking frame. He was out cold. You needed something. Stop the shakes, sweaty shivers wracking your body. Now. Bucky had some whiskey hidden away in the kitchen. He was out the door when Brock came in, a look of disgust on Buck’s handsome face. Twisting and marring it.
Good.
Less he was around the more you could indulge. Blocking our reality was hard when someone who made you want to do better was confusing. Brock was a dick, he made it easy.
My emotion cost me pain. Did I look the same? When I think about the times that I laughed away the idea you'd cheat me.
There was nothing in your room. Nothing in the apartment. No fix. Your brain was screaming at you, skin crawling uncomfortably. The air was too hot, too cold, you didn’t know. All your money was spent until next week.
“You need help, I can’t take it anymore, I poured it out,” came his shaky voice.
You turned to glare at your former love, eyes manic and red rimmed. Your mouth was so, so dry. Stalking toward Bucky you weakly shoved his broad chest, croaking, “Why the fuck would you do that? The fuck is wrong with you?” Your head erupted into a pang of pain, wincing.
Bucky grabbed your shoulders, shaking, pleading, “C’mon, I have some Powerade, we can watch movies and try to relax like old times.”
You trembled in place with anger and the onset of delirium tremens. Bucky searched your sunken eyes, fear lacing his features. Why couldn’t he just move away and leave you alone. You thought he’d bolt by now. With a ragged sob you replied, “I never thought you’d enjoy seeing me in pain so much.” You crumpled, he held you, repeating he didn’t like to see you in pain.
He sat by your side for a little that night. But the liquor was back in your cup. He told you he was gone if you didn’t stop. The idiot had been gone since he deemed your relationship too ‘isolated’.
Bucky didn’t end up leaving, hovering like a nursemaid. Maybe there was a way.
But look again, what do you say? 'That's my name.’
Bucky stayed around, trying to wean you off. Spring break. What a bust. You couldn’t keep anything down. You stared at the ceiling, wondering if oblivion would be better. He irked you, made hatred boil up, something that was so pure had been blackened. You were too weak to go get your own shit, but he probably took your money too.
Bucky sat next to you on the couch, big hand on your elbow. You spat, “What? Come to wallow in my misery like a pig in shit?” He sighed, gritting his jaw. The brunette asked, “Do you not see a problem here?” You didn’t like the way his heavy brows pinched, made your heart ache.
You turned to face him, face close up, Bucky’s eyes darting to your lips. Breath fanning against his slack jaw you rasped, “The problem is you aren’t seeing me. Never have. Too clingy, too wild, too drunk.” You nipped his lip roughly, growling, “Did’ja only like me when you were fucking me?”
Bucky pulled back, breath hitching. He stood up abruptly, yelling, “What the fuck are you even talking about? I love you!” His blue eyes were watery. He croaked, “I mean who even are you anymore baby?” Your throat tightened. Fuck fuck fuck you needed booze.
AND I HOPE THAT I'VE KEPT YOU AMUSED
TO WIPE THAT SPIT RIGHT OFF MY BOOTS
Lies. Bucky was lying. Your brain whispered darkly, manipulating anything that might’ve been coherent though. He was bootlicking, appealing to that little soft part in your heart. Just enough to keep you on that string for his twisted amusement. You dialed Brock.
“Pick me up, bring a roadie stat.”
And when I'm home and thinking in the dark. I hope that none of this has had to go too far.
When it gets too late. To see me any other way.
He moved out a month later. Finally, your thoughts cheered. But why did it still hurt even when plastered on the ground? Bucky left a scathing note. You cried until your nose bled after. Fucking idiot, that’s your name.
‘Get help because I’m not going to see you lifeless in a coffin. Don’t contact me until you’re sober.’
Maybe you should get sober. But wasn’t this your plan? Run off the ones who really cared? Make Bucky hate you because it was easier than knowing he chose to leave you. Wanda even cut you off, Steve left a flyer for AA on your porch.
You took another swig.
Atleast you had this. The only thing within your grasp.
And it gets so hard to hold on. To everything that I want so bad.

Intro post
hi i’m cas, corvu, or crow and i’m making this blog to ramble about my writing, both fanfiction and original, it’s all likely to be queer in some way so obviously dni if you’re a homophobe, transphobe, racist, sexist, terf, radfem, prolifer, etc.
here’s a list of things i’m working on in order of progress:
Teen Wolf
I Have Friends In Not So Heavenly Places - a crossover with Criminal Minds in which a hacking attempt gone wrong gets the attention of the BAU, Sterek, ongoing, 18/?
Vera Natura - a season 2 rewrite with an original character as Scott’s cousin, Sterek, ongoing, 3/?
Sterek Week 2017 series - 7 works
Marvel
Horns and Webs and Miracles - self-indulgent fic going for that 2012 avenger fic vibe centering around Peter Parker, Loki, and Wanda and Pietro Maximoff, ongoing, 2/?
Earth-10088 Project - my own earth drawing sources from the MCU, comics, and shows focusing on “The Disasters”, which consists of Bucky Barnes, Clint Barton, Eddie Brock, Loki, Jessica Jones, Pietro and Wanda Maximoff, and Matt Murdock, WIP, will have one-shots, art, and possibly a longer story
X-Men: Apocalypse AU! - in which Peter is just a bit faster in getting to the school and a little more brave when talking to Erik, Nightsilver, WIP
Supernatural
Foster Witch AU! - follows an original character who is a hunter and a witch that comes across the Winchesters on a hunt, they notice that John is not such a great father, and fearing for the boys’ safety, gets them away from their father, deciding to stay with the witch, the trajectory of the boys’ life changes for the better, WIP
do re mi verse - in which Castiel is a singer who releases a song about his ex (Dean), the whole thing is messy and toxic, a song fic based on a Blackbear song, complete(?), 3 works
Bones
Science Class is Canceled - High School AU! one-shot, intended to be part of a longer fic/series, undecided if it will be continued
Did I Take It Too Far? - song fic based on NDA by Billie Eilish, a sort-of character study on Zack Addy during the Gormogon Arc, Zack Addy/Jack Hodgins, one-shot
Psych
Real Fake Psychic AU! and/or Fake Real Psychic AU! - after an incident Shawn finds himself getting flashes of things he should not be able to see or know, all of the sudden he and his friends get thrown into the supernatural underbelly of Santa Barbara while also trying to navigate their new abilities, Shassie, WIP
Danny Phantom
Uncanny AU! - Danny goes into the portal after his friends leave, but he thinks to put on a far more protective suit first, after realizing he can “go ghost” he also notices that the more he does it, the more it changes him in both forms, will have art, perhaps one-shot series or longer work, Everlasting Trio, WIP
Collection(s)
Bone(s) Storage - all Bones related
Was Such A Bad Idea ‘Cause Now Everything’s Wrong (song fics) - all song fics, multifandom, multiship, ongoing, 3 works
Original Stories
BoS - fantasy boarding school setting with lots of world building, based on Norse mythology, deals with classism and racism in a post-pandemonium world where people have been granted gifts from the gods
VS - a convoluted story beginning in blackmailing and leading to murder, with supernatural elements, following a college dropout
feel free to ask me anything about any of these!

Common Grid War Act 12!  A full year of common grids, and I...still don’t have Shauntal or Lorelei.  Haha, sobering.  But forget about that, what about our new grids from this month?
New Placements:
Roxie -> B.  Roxie feels poised for pretty good performance.  I think what gives me pause about her is really self-setup, and lack of much serious utility outside of damage.  Poison isn’t the best, given the high resistance on everything due to Toxic, and she lacks something like a Defense Crush 4 akin to Kahili.  But I think her damage output is real, and that’s what counts.  And she’s not completely team reliant.  She can boost crit, attack, and speed by herself, just not to cap in any expedient sense.  Which is why she’s in B.  I feel like that’s where all the options with limited self-sufficiency go, despite having decent damage.
Cheren -> C.  Despite Reddit’s claims of Cheren being the worst support in the game still, I don’t think he did terribly.  Decent pop heals, Endurance, 30% damage reduction against special moves, boosting team defense by 2 each use of trainer move, MPR on trainer move to maintain gauges, 60% chance for defense drops on Crunch.  He has his uses.  It’s just that none of them are exceptional.  But his grid gets more mileage than Drake’s does by a longshot, and I do think he’s gotten more than people give credit for.  C seems good for now.
Clay -> D.  Clay’s grid isn’t intrinsically terrible, but his self-sufficiency is.  Worse, his stats are pretty sad, which I think is the big component holding him back.  He doesn’t do anything himself, and when it’s time to dish out damage, it’s going to be underwhelming.  The only good in his life is Courtney being general pool, and Hop being a reasonable partner, but needing special defense buffs, speed drops, and full offensive support is a tall order.
Change in Placement:
Noland: C->B.  Noland’s self-sufficiency is tremendous in Gauntlet.  It’s slow, but valuable, and the inclusion of speed buffs makes him a pretty reliable partner with just about anyone, capable of handling fights reasonably well.  I’ve been pleasantly surprised with his performance.
Kahili: C -> B.  I really like Kahili’s performance.  She has a pretty potent sync nuke despite no EX, the defense drops are huge, one-gauge spam doesn’t do much for damage but it’s nice that it’s the defense debuffing move and makes her very gauge friendly.  And in CS, having guaranteed crit and endure on trainer move means she can nuke very reliably with minimal attack support.  She’s been fun.
Sophocles: B -> C.  This is, perhaps, harsh, but Sophocles was the saddest performer against Tornadus in my tests for Gauntlet suggestions.  Sophocles just doesn’t have the best DPS, because of how hard Cakewalk is to set up, and his reliance on crit buffs.  It’s just...hard to justify him as a B-tier right now.
Mina: B -> C.  Mina...listen, I have not touched Mina since she got her grid.  I don’t think she’s entirely terrible, but only debuffing attack isn’t fantastic in most situations, and my biggest issue is that she’s painfully slow and not particularly strong, and still has no self-sufficiency.  She’s a sad unit to try and utilize, being laden with flaws, and truthfully she might fall further if I can’t find a good use for her.
Thorton: F -> D.  Hey look, Thorton found a use!  Turns out, 60% flinch rate is worth something.  Unfortunately it’s an inconsistent accuracy option, and unlike most others he offers virtually nothing else.  I’m keeping him below SS Brock and Grant, because their Rock-type damage is at least more valuable.
Candice: This isn’t a tier change, but adjustment within the tier.  Candice is being placed below Roxanne and Winona, because truthfully?  Candice is good, but I have less occasion to use her than the other two.  Roxanne and Winona are just outrageously useful every time.  Even in CS, those two excel, while Candice is still plagued by occasional problems with the finish due to low BP moves.
Gardenia: Similarly, Gardenia is moved to bottom of A.  While I like Gardenia a lot, it’s been hard to find utility in Gauntlet for her, and even in CS, Leaf Storm often just barely misses a clean KO on the sides, resulting in more frustration than it’s often worth.  I still think she’s fantastic, but her reliance on Sun and overall more limited performance are putting her lower on the list.

@decimatlas asked: “ i can tell you’re upset, talk to me. ” to benji from brock
Of course Brock could tell, Brock could usually tell when he was upset. It was one of the reasons he was one of Benji's best friends, and why he loved him. Benji had a habit of over-complicating most everything in his life, but Brock broke things down until they were simple. Usually, Ben appreciated it, just not when it was being used on him.
"I can't, not about this." Why not? It's not like he had any issues talking to Brock before. But lately it seemed like Ben was caught in a whirlpool of bad decisions, all of which stemmed from one uncomfortable truth:
He was in love with his best friend.
He had tried denying it, but that had been about as effective as blowing up balloons with liquid concrete. Then he had tried distracting himself from it, and used Cameron to do it. But aside from the disapproval he had gotten from his friends for getting back with his ex, even temporarily, it hadn't worked either. He was still just as toxic and sure enough, Benji had broken it off after barely two weeks. That led him to his current strategy: distance. If he just stayed away from Brock, maybe his feelings would go away; or at the very least he could bury them deep where he didn't have to think about them again
The problem was, that meant he had to stay away from one of his favorite people. Not to mention that it wasn't fair to Brock to do that to him, and on top of all of that, Eden and Josie had probably noticed something was up too. The whole situation was a mess, and Benji was the direct cause of it.
So yeah, he was a little upset.
"Look, I... I just.... I don't really know what I'm doing." He admitted, shrugging and brushing past Brock to stand at his kitchen counter, gripping the granite tightly. "I haven't been very fair to you, and I'm sorry." He wanted to run. He wanted to stay. It was maddening. "I just... I don't know how to talk about this."

Everything about this still cracks me up
Paul, steel chair in hand, ready to defend his tribal chief
Panic slowly settling in as he is cornered
IMMEDIATELY starts begging for help, glancing at ringside and ref's direction
The beast incarnate, instead of ruthlessly issuing an F5...gently grabs Pauls face. Menacingly (?)
Roman, boutta miss his cue, breaks it up, saving the damsel in distress at the last second

I forgot that Gauntlet is in 4 days, so here’s my personal team comp in preparation for it. Just like before, I only try to reach 10 or 12 wins at most, then I’ll farm using my most consistent teams. Remember that this team can be modified depending on the situation.
Tornadus:
(Reminder to myself: Wait until Tornadus use Rain Dance before paralyzing, or else he’ll use Toxic)
1. Hilbert/N/Volkner: Pretty self-explanatory. This will also be the farming team due to its consistency.
2. OG Ingo/OG Emmet/SS Elesa: This is such a stupidly yolo team comp, but I’ll try. SS Elesa will be gridded with offensive build, and needs to be lucky on landing paralysis from Thunder. Keeping OG Emmet alive will surely be a challenge, but let’s see if this hilarious team can do it. I’ll be happy if this team can. I want Nimbasa Trio to slay a Legendary Arena.
3. SC Lillie/Hau/Erika & Vileplume: Lillie can cap Hau’s Special Attack, and then slowly but surely buff crit. Erika can apply paralysis. Alternatively, I also can try using Lyra instead of SC Lillie.
4. Misty & Starmie/Lear/BP Surge: I ran out of ideas. Lear is already 3/5, so it’ll be a waste not using him anywhere. BP Surge functions as paralysis applicator and to rack up Rising Tide multiplier, since my team’s Lear is not EX yet, and his Snatch only has two uses.
Backup Team: Leaf/Spring May/Tech Munchlax or Tech Kangaskhan: Need to max out type team skills. This was based on the Leaf/Spring May/Classic Red team comp vs Cobalion if I remember correctly that I watched somewhere, perhaps from Zinfogel, but I can’t find the video. I want to try a variation of that team, so here it is.
Regirock:
1. Aaron/SC Emmet/SC Ingo: Again, another yolo team, but my SC Emmet is 2/5 and he has a lot of pretty great defensive grids, such as Vigilance and Headstrong, that helped SC Emmet to ignore Regirock’s debuffs and crits. Aaron needs to be there and spam Defend Order so SC Ingo could survive, because even with Vigilance SC Ingo is rather frail. Aaron is still 1/5 so no flinching stuff to stop Regirock’s Iron Wall, so this team might need quite a bit of effort, but still worth a shot. If things don’t work, I can always replace Aaron with BP Morty, and Aaron can be relegated to other teams.
2. Hop/Solgaleo/EX Skyla: Skyla gave speed support so the team didn’t lag behind. Pretty self-explanatory.
3. Sycamore/SS Serena/Spring Burgh: I am 3 coins short from 3/5 SS Serena, but I’m most likely not going to make it before Gauntlet. Oh well. Anyway, this team is more defensive, but SS Serena has Impervious, so she hopefully can safely go through this match.
4. SS Blue/Wikstrom/OG Brock: Unfortunately Wikstrom and OG Brock might not be able to reach 5* before the Legendary Gauntlet drops, but this is the team that I will go with. I’m not sure if this team could do it, but it’s worth a shot.
Latios:
1. SS Morty/Anni N/Palentine’s Dawn: Haha debuff+sun team go brr.
2. Sabrina/Lucian/Bianca: Sabrina protects the party with Reflect and some healing, then give 6*EX buff. Lucian debuffs and nuke. Bianca provides Psychic Terrain and participates with Stored Power DPS because Lucian’s DPS is bad. Bianca will also be going with Brainteaser build.
3. Halloween Caitlin/BP Zinnia/Falkner: Caitlin buffs attack and accuracy as much as she could, while Falkner covers crit and the rest of buffs if MPR doesn’t proc. Both provides 6*EX support to crank up Zinnia’s damage. If possible I’ll also try enabling flinch damage multiplier and sync nuke, but it’s difficult.
4. Kiawe/Hala or Winter Leon/Evelyn: Since both Winter Leon and Hala are very self-sufficient in buffing, Evelyn can handle the defenses and give Gradual Healing. Kiawe completes the buff for Winter Leon, and gives crit buff for Hala. Kiawe also provides speed support and lowers defenses. Kiawe will also appreciate the extra defense buffs from Evelyn’s Master Passive.
There are many good units that haven’t been used yet, and I want to use them somewhere, but haven’t thought of the perfect team comp.

Tumblr media
you had been so excited for this girls night and it had started off amazing but soon you and you friends had all had your fair share to drink and ended up getting separated. you were sitting at the bar sipping your drink when you felt a cold hand meet your bare back. shivers immediately ran up your spine and your muscles tensed at the unwelcome touch.
“hi y/n, did you miss me?”
oh come on.
“no derek, i didn’t.” you snap.
“my my, you’ve got quite a mouth on you. i remember making sure you bit that tongue of yours. your new boy toy must not really care if he lets you walk around speaking to people like that.”
you turn to face him “i’ll have you know derek, quinn cares about me more than anyone has in my entire life.”
he gives you a daunting look “my god you’re even more naive then i remember. let me tell you something y/n, you’re the same to him as you were to me: a pity fuck and that is all you will ever be to anyone.”
your eyes burned with unshed tears as you looked down at your drink. standing up from your seat at the bar, you’re quick to get as far away from derek as possible. unfortunately, derek doesn’t miss a beat and follows after you. you make it out of the sea of people just as derek catches your wrist.
“where do you think you’re going?” he whispers in your ear.
“far away from you thats where.” you grunt pushing him and ripping your arm from his grasp as he stumbles back. running into the bathroom, your ankle rolls causing you to fall into the private bathroom.
that’s what you get for running in heels, y/n.
your ankle is throbbing as tears rapidly fall from your eyes. you fish your phone out of your purse and call quinn.
the line had only rung once when you started to hear pounding on the door
“y/n! open the god damn door!”
“hello?”
“quinn.” you sob.
“hey hey hey, what’s wrong sweetheart?”
“i need you please. derek he-he-”
“open the this fucking door, y/n or i swear to god i’ll kick it down!”
you hear quinn curse, obviously hearing derek “me, boes and petey are on our way. stay on the phone and where you are, okay?”
“o-okay.”
it’s not long until you hear shouting from outside the bathroom door and a gentle knock on the other side.
“y/n? sweetheart? it’s quinn” you hear him say through the door.
you scramble to unlock the door and throw yourself at quinn as you start sobbing again. quinn is quick to wrap his arms around you as you both sink to the floor.
“you’re okay, i promise.” he says, soothingly running a hand through your hair, down your back and arms. his fingers brush over your wrist and you whimper in pain, making quinn look down at your wrist that had started to turn an ugly shade of purple.
“i’m gonna fucking kill him.” you hear him mutter as he presses a gentle kiss on your wrist. “hey boes?!”
brock pocks his head into the bathroom “yeah huggy?”
“stay with her please?” he asks, pulling away from you.
“quinn no-” you say reaching for him.
“i’ll be right back, i promise.” he says kissing your forehead and looking at brock who nods before sitting down next to you and pulling you into his side.
“you okay, y/n/n?” brock asks.
you sniffle and shake your head. you and brock hear more yelling before there’s a loud thud. you stand up and limp towards the door, ignoring brock’s asks about your limp.
you watch with a slacked jaw as quinn shoves a bloody nosed derek against the wall of the bar and spits “touch her again and i’ll fucking end you.”
elias stands behind quinn, his arms crossed and blood on his red knuckles. he looks over to see you watching quinn and frowns at your state, before whispering to quinn to let go of derek.
quinn shoves derek down the hall before yelling at him to go… somewhere before turning to you and taking you into his arms again. “let’s get you home okay?”
you nod as he leads you out but you stumble and grab onto the wall as your ankle erupts in pain.
“are you okay y/n/n?” elias asks.
“i-i’m fine.” you mumble, wincing as your ankle moves.
“y/n, you were limping to the door like a second ago. you hurt your ankle.” brock says as quinn gets down on his knees and inspects your ankle.
“what’d you do, hm?” he asks.
“i-i tripped when i was running into the bathroom that’s all. but i’m fine.”
“if you’re hurt you can tell me, i don’t mind carrying you.” he says already starting to scoop you up into his arms.
“quinn! i’m fine.”
“you’re not fine and i’m going to carry you because you’re hurt.”
“whatever.” you huff and still wrap your arms around his neck as brock and elias leave to go get the car.
you stand outside waiting for them when you say “thanks for being knight in shining armour.”
quinn just smiles and says “anytime, princess.”

Movie Review: Venom - Let There Be Carnage
Tumblr media
Disclaimer: I am posting this review the day after the movie is first released in the U.K, so if you still have not yet seen Venom: Let There Be Carnage and want to go in with a completely clean mind, don't read on until you have.
General Reaction:
I personally have a love/hate relationship with sequels to movies I very much enjoyed. Not only do I find myself to be somewhat more critical of the continuation to the story I have grown invested in, but also if it is not as good as the first movie then I feel let down as I feel it may tarnish the quality and my enjoyment of the first movie.
Tumblr media
With that being said, as were my original thoughts at the time, I really enjoyed the first Venom movie, I thought that Tom Hardy is very well cast in the dual role of Eddie Brock and Venom as well as the story being something of a divergent from the comics but still an enjoyable plot.
Yes making the Eddie/Venom relationship more of a domestic odd couple as a way of ramping up the cartoonish comedy of the situation was definitely a choice but one I feel Hardy and the first movie's director Ruben Fleisher pulled off by also making it an action-packed comic-book movie.
As for the sequel...well...you can tell it's a different director. Personally I love Andy Serkis as a motion-capture actor and even in the few live-action roles I have seen him in, but personally for me his take on an already established character like Tom Hardy's Venom blurs the lines of trying to honour the original concept Fleisher envisaged while also putting his own stamp on it and honestly that's where I feel Venom: Let There Be Carnage hits a snag.
Tumblr media
It is still a Venom movie but because Carnage is in the title and is as much a fan-favourite character as Venom, it's almost as if the movie is divided into two, much like the Cletus/Carnage relationship, as opposed to working symbiotically like the Eddie/Venom relationship.
Overall the movie feels like the story is divided between the Eddie/Venom relationship and the Cletus/Carnage/Shriek relationship. This movie is very much about relationships, Eddie/Venom, Cletus/Carnage, Cletus/Francis, Carnage/Shriek and Eddie/Anne. Would I say it makes it an easy candidate for a romcom date movie? Well it depends on your idea of romance, because to me every relationship in this movie is a portrayal of anarchic and chaotic toxicity of relationships.
Moving away from the romance of it all, I felt the psychology of this movie was surprisingly sophisticated, not just in the nature v nurture argument of what makes a murderer, but also in how symbiotic relationships develop and depend on each other.
That being said, I cannot say the storytelling was as sophisticated as the first movie. The first movie was pretty straightforward, Eddie starts off high but then loses it all before becoming host to a targeted symbiote by an evil corporation who must learn to work together to defeat said evil corporation.
Tumblr media
With this movie, the story is Cletus longing to reunite with his beloved, Eddie spiralling because of the revelation his ex is getting married and Venom wanting his freedom or to at least have an equal partnership with Eddie. None of these stories really all tie together by the end like the first movie did aside from how the Eddie/Venom relationship developed, but you could have easily taken out the Cletus/Francis relationship and just focus on the symbiotic relationships of host and symbiote as we now have two in this movie.
The main issue I think this movie will have though other than the stereotypical cartoon violence that comes with a non-R-Rated movie is that...the movie doesn't elevate itself from the first Venom. There's no real growth in the movie or the characters from the first movie and it does feel like the character development is simply recycled from the first movie.
But all of this bad is somewhat either saved or at least forgiven by the end credits scene which propels this version of Eddie Brock/Venom into the forefront of Marvel Movies characters more-so than I feel these two movies tried to do. It's a short scene and if you're not a follower of Marvel Movies at large you may not understand exactly what was going on, and I already had it ruined for me prior to seeing the movie because it came out at the start of the month, but it was still very exciting to see.
Cast:
Tumblr media
Tom Hardy still continues to be very captivating in the dual role of Eddie Brock and Venom. I continue to be impressed by Hardy's voiceover work as Venom and the comedic superhero duo that Eddie Brock and Venom are becoming. I am however interested in the physiology of the symbiotes because I presumed from the first movie that it was a composite alien goo type substance that made up the symbiote being, but then there were times in this movie where it seems more solidified even when coming out of Eddie for a chat.
Tumblr media
Woody Harrelson is such a delight to watch because I always feel confident he is going to accomplish what the character description needs from him. I've never seen Natural Born Killers but I've been told he is effectively playing a watered down version of that role, for me Harrelson plays psycho very well, for me personally though the Cletus Kasady I know I don't think went far enough in this movie.
Naomie Harris' Shriek meanwhile I don't think had a chance to go very far here unfortunately primarily because of her mutation power of sonic screaming being the kryptonite to her beloved Cletus once he "bonds" with Carnage. For that reason she doesn't shriek as much as I think fans would have hoped but she still has some good moments and surprisingly, probably because I've recently re-watched the entire Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, she was giving me throwbacks to her days as Tia Dalma aka Calypso with the dreads and the makeup and overall performance.
Michelle Williams and Reid Scott also return and again surprisingly have at least one really good moment each, Williams has a few to be fair probably because she is the main love interest to our heroes, or anti-heroes.
Then as for Stephen Graham, I would be intrigued about his story going forward if I could be safe in the knowledge this particular universe would be continuing.
Recommendation:
Tumblr media
Overall I really am somewhat disappointed in how underwhelming this movie was. It was enjoyable, some great and fun moments and one or two tense scenes. But at large it didn't have the grandeur you want to see a sequel step up to particularly when the first Venom was so well received.
I would say see this movie for Tom Hardy and Woody Harrelson's performances, as well as Naomie Harris because for the little she's in she does very well with it. But with how elevated Marvel projects particularly are becoming, this movie is pretty much only useful for that end credits scene.
So those are my thoughts on Venom: Let There Be Carnage, what did you guy think? Post your comments and check out more Marvel Movie Reviews as well as other Movie Reviews and posts.

Plane Ride from Hell
I watched the new episode of “Dark Side of the Ring” to see what everyone was talking about, and yeah, it’s pretty messed up.   Some stray observations:
I felt bad for Teri Runnels, because it was clear that she was going through the same kind of sexual harassment as the flight attendants, only it lasted a lot longer than a single plane ride.  She kept saying “Don’t sell it” as her response to these kinds of thing.  I get the feeling that this used to be sound advice for dealing with locker room pranks, but it mutated into this code-of-honor for excusing everything, up to and including wrestlers exposing themselves.
It occurred to me later that this might be why Curt Hennig became such a notorious prankster. The stories I’ve heard over the years suggest that lots of wrestlers would do terrible things to each other in the name of “ribbing”, and Curt Hennig took it to a whole other level.   I’m wondering if maybe that was his defense mechanism for that sort of toxic culture.   Maybe he decided there was no fighting it, so he made it his business to excel at it.   I mean, who’d want to rib Curt Hennig?  He’d just escalate it to an absurd degree.  So it sounds like your only defenses are to “play dead” or “get them before they get you.”
But it’s kind of funny how everyone told Teri “don’t sell it”, but no one said it to Brock Lesnar that day.   It just exposes the hypocrisy of the whole thing.   If Brock exposes himself to Teri, she’s just supposed to live with it, but if Hennig messes with Brock, then Brock can just start a fight on an airplane.
I was at the grocery, and this four-year-old was just screaming “The Hokey Pokey”.   I could literally hear him from halfway across the store.   And yeah, “don’t sell it” is pretty good advice there, because it’s not that big a deal, and what are you going to do?   It’s not worth getting upset about it.   Tommy Dreamer seems to think that reasoning applies to Ric Flair strutting around nude in a charter plane.   That’s pretty messed up.
There are people trotting out the defense that it was a “different time”.   Okay, but they were calling it the “Plane Ride from Hell” during 2002.    People got fired over it during 2002.  Everyone knew it was fucked up, even then.  There’s only a renewed sense of outrage because this Dark Side of the Ring episode is finally shedding some light on what really happened, and they’re not sugar coating it.  I mean, yeah, people are probably more sensitive about this kind of thing than they were 19 years ago, but it was a scandal at the time.   WWE did everything they could to cover it up, because they knew how bad it would be for their PR.
I’d even go so far to suggest that this might be why they didn’t fire more people after the plane landed.   If they fired a lot of wrestlers all at once, it would attract more interest to the story, and there would be loads of ex-employees willing and able to tell their side of it.  That seems to have been the general reaction from WWE’s management.   Vince was upset about the whole incident, but only because of the embarrassment it would be for his company.
In particular, I find myself focusing on Jim Ross.   I mean, it doesn’t sound like he did anything wrong on the PRFH, but his retelling of events sounds like he wants to have been an impartial, helpless observer, while at the same time he claims ownership of the whole fiasco.  He’d explain his job description like he’s in charge of “the boys”, but then he’d also say things like “I can’t watch everyone every minute”.   It sounds like he had a role in hiring the charter plane, but no one seemed to know how it had an open bar, or who approved the second and third cart of liquor after the first one ran out.  JR claimed that he was the one who had to fire Hennig and Scott Hall, but he’s also quick to say that he only did it because Vince McMahon told him to.   So there’s this sense that he’s just a middleman, executing orders from higher up.   “I’m responsible, but if you don’t like how I handled things, it’s someone else’s fault.”
I just don’t get how all the wrestlers act like this was totally normal behavior for a bunch of drunk wrestlers stuck on a plane for 14 hours.  Someone said that you had to wear sunglasses and a hat while you slept, so that you at least had a chance to wake up before someone tried to shave off your eyebrows.   Ric Flair’s “helicopter” bit was so well known among the talent that they had a name for it.  Ross said that if this had happened on a commercial plane, they would have had law enforcement waiting on them when they landed in the U.S.   And yet, it sounds like there was zero plan in place for how to deal with the wrestlers if they got too rowdy.
I mean, it’s 19 years later, so maybe it’s obvious in hindsight, but it sounds like it would have been pretty obvious back then, too.   So I can’t tell if Jim Ross was too naive to do his job, or he lacked the tools to do it properly.  They asked Ross pointblank why Ric Flair wasn’t punished for cornering a flight attendant while he was naked, and Ross said he didn’t know.  He suggested that Ric was a “made man” by that point, which doesn’t pass the smell test.
This isn’t an old vs. new issue.  Ric Flair was 53 when the Plane Ride from Hell Happened.  Brock was in his 20′s when he flashed Teri Runnels backstage.  Dustin Rhodes was 32 during the Plane Ride from Hell.   He’s 52 now, and he’s wrestling for AEW to this day.   Darby Allin is a rapist and he’s working for AEW now, and he’s 28.  Somehow, these guys get conferred an immunity from any consequences of their bad behavior.   It might have something to do with star power or favoritism, but a lot of times it seems purely arbitrary.   Tommy Dreamer was 30 during the Plane Ride From Hell, and he’s 50 now.  He was never a “made man”, but he seems to find nothing inappropriate about Ric Flair’s behavior that day, then or now.
I don’t know what the solution to any of this is, but I do find it ironic how the episode opened with JR explaining that the charter plane was hired to be “talent friendly”.  They were having a great year financially, and they were on a lucrative European tour, and morale was high, and I guess WWE wanted to do something nice for their wrestlers.    But as the episode wore on, it became clear that WWE management seemed all-too-willing to bend over backwards for their talent.   They let their guys bring syringes on board for crying out loud.   Curt Hennig was drugging people’s drinks.  No one was imposing any rules on the talent, and no one was in any position to enforce the rules.   And when a few people actually did get fired, the guy who did it felt guilty about doing it.
Leniency and permissiveness can be just as dangerous as strict, draconian micromanagement.   If you let your employees get away with anything, they’ll start getting away with everything, and the bad actors will start to make life miserable for the others.   Without realizing it, WWE was basically punishing Teri Runnels for just existing on this plane.  She can’t retaliate, and she can’t complain to management, so her only choice is “don’t sell it.”
I’ve always heard what a tyrant Vince McMahon can be, on and off screen, but really, I’ve come to notice how his greatest flaw is his indecision.   Given two choices, he’ll refuse to make up his mind until the last possible moment.  He books DQ finishes and no-contests rather than pick a winner.   He hires a small army of writers to script his shows only to tear up their work right before they go on the air.   He was on the Plane Ride From Hell.   His wife was on board with him.   It’s bizarre to me how we never hear what he was doing during the whole incident.  But the answer is apparently “nothing”, and that probably explains a lot about why his employees felt so little pressure to behave themselves.
