Fraz-Urbluu, demon lord of illusion and deception. Sorry, were you wanting the usual size and weight and such? Unavailable, reality itself is at his whim. He has innate magic to basically control all of your senses. Your touch, smell, vision, hearing are shrouded in illusion, he can create things and terrain that your brain treats as real and make the whole area seem to be whatever he needs. And if he REALLY wants he can even modify your memory once per day, making you forget something or gaslighting you with a fake memory. He can terrify, grapple, even make temporary clones of anyone he sees. He can even modify the room your in, shuffling doors and walls around. A modicum of his power, as his (currently lost) staff let him literally shape the entire layer of the abyss instantly and at his whim. Yeah, he's not just an architect of lies, he's also an architect in general. However, note that there's no domination, no mental orders or suggestions, no forcing you to like or believe him like other lords. His charms are through skill and pretty settings. frequently tricking even demon lords who KNOW what he's about through sheer Charisma. In the past he's shown to court clever and creative individuals, so if you're chosen I'm sure it'll be a ride of your life!...but not one in your control.

thinking about the fact that i do like forgotton realms-adjecent (fantasy equivalent of star wars-sized ip) games but then i have to grab a broom and hit anyone appearing out of the shadows who goes "now play dnd (or any ttrpg) with me" extremely violently so they remain in the dark for another 5 million years
#HOMIE YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND IT'S THE FUCKING TTRPG AND ENTIRE MEDIUM ASPECT AND MATH PART AND RANDOM WACKYNESS THAT I LOATHE#IF I PLAYED DND I WOULD BE ONE OF THOSE “BY THE RULE” NERDS BECAUSE IF YOU RANDOMLY PULL OUT A BULLSHIT WAY TO UNDERMINE THE DM'S EFFORTS#WITHOUT THEIR APPROVAL THEN GOD HELP YOU!#anyway ttrpgs arent my thing whatsoever and i'm actually surprised some people do not seem to be understanding that despite the fact#why yes. i do like fantasy and any setting very much if executed well#anyway forgotten realms lore is not one of those things. is anyone going to tell me the real gist of the 'multiverse' that really seem to b#just a case of multiple galaxies and planes/dimensions or are you just gping to throw 3 in-universe cosmology maps at me#there really should be a distinction between how it really is and in-universe explanations because that really is the way i dig it#unfortunately. i have yet to See One IP do it That Way and also explaib Why in Intricate Nice Details#I love bitches who explain Why and Cause And Effect and not just give me raw facts data numbers through historical events#yeah if you can tell me exactly why this species loathes x or y or evolved to be this way then great! i love you very much!#otherwise fuck off because no reasoning and 'it just is' reads as 'this is just cool to me' or 'im too lazy to think abt it' or the#adult bullshit excuse of 'well because i said so!'#YEAH OKAY FINE YOU DONT NEED TO EXPLAIN THE NITTYGRITTY OF EVERYTHING BUT BOY! DO I LOVE REASONING AS TO WHY SOMETHING ACTS/LOOKS/DOES/IS!#OTHERWISE? MAKES 0 SENSE TO ME. THANK YOU AND GOOD NIGHT#why call it forgotten REALMS if your biggest focus is one fucking continent (faerun)#this also goes for very real stuff btw. like okay i get why a game can work essentially on a stupid display because it all comes down to#sand doing math and true/false statements etcetera. but as to how consciousness forms into a growing clump of cells. who knows#i also don't understand the concept that we need opposites for fucking everything in human-made theories like newton's law#or an explanation for 'holes' in THEORETICAL frameworks. such as what dividing 0 by 0 is. and then hanging onto those frameworks as if#they're 100% real and truth. mate it's truth from the perspective of humans but i guess i'll just not go meta here. this is dumb

Kinktober Day Five: Sex Worker
Kinktober Masterlist
Miguel O'Hara x female reader
Tumblr media
He walks into the place you'd been left in. A small cell, not really a cell but more like a small interrogation room.
You were captured. Not an anomaly, really, just some lucky young thing that had found a way to move from universe to universe, offering your...services.
As Miguel walks into the room, he has Lyla display your file onto the screen on the wall.
Your name, your age, your original earth and your...profession, among other slices of your information.
You're quiet, watching as he reads up on you. You pick at your nails, goosebumps on your skin at the cool ac that makes the room a little chilly. Not that your outfit helps: a tiny dress, thigh-high boots, and very thin lace stockings. You're freezing, really. But you refuse to say anything.
“Can I go now?” you ask after a while of staring at his broad, muscular back.
He turns to face you, red eyes scanning you as you sit on the table. “You know how much trouble you're in?” he asks. “Not only are you in for universe hopping, but also for prostitution.”
You roll your eyes. “It's illegal for me to do what I want with my body?”
“It's illegal to sell sexual services,” he replies, sighing sharply.
“Why? It's my body. I do with my body what I want and I get paid for it. What's the issue?”
He glares at you. “I'm not going into this. It's illegal, you did it, you broke the law. Period.”
You laugh softly. “Oh, come on, it's not like you've never hired a hooker.” He gives you a look. You raise an eyebrow. “You've never been with a hooker.”
“No need. I prefer to avoid the diseases and keep my twenties as spare change.”
You're in character right away. You lean your elbows on your knees, putting your chin in your hands. “Twenties? Nah, honey. I work in hundreds and thousands. You either pay for an hour or don't get any.”
He gives you a look. “I didn't ask.”
“And, no glove, no love,” you add, grinning at him.
“I really don't care.”
“Why are you so mean? You should respect me because a) I haven't been unkind to you, b) you're supposedly a hero, and c) I can help you with your little issue.”
He frowns. “What issue?”
“All that stupid, pent up anger. You know why it is?” You grin and don't give him a chance to answer. “Sexual frustration.”
Miguel scoffs. “What?”
“You heard me.”
He glares at you. “I keep the multiverse from collapsing and you think I need some prostitute to help me?”
“Don't be so condescending,” you say firmly. “And don't undermine my work. I make more than you do.”
He frowns. He checks your file, rushing through some items until he finds that what you're saying is, indeed, true. He looks surprised for a second before turning to you, a little bit pissed.
“I'll make you a deal,” you say. “I help you out with your anger, and you let me go.”
He scoffs. “What?”
You get off the table, moving to stand in front of him, making the size difference between him and you much more noticeable. He's huge, tall and broad, and so handsome.
“Let me help you,” you say, voice soft and sultry. “You know you want me to...”
He glares at you. “What are you going on about?”
You smile softly as you get on your knees. “I know I can help you. You know it, too. Come on, honey, no need to be shy,” you say, giving him a look full of fake innocence.
He doesn't reply. You can see the look in his eyes, a silent desire that aches beneath the surface. You've seen that look so many times, you know it so well...
“You just gotta ask,” you tell him lowly. “Just say the word...”
He sighs and you smile, already knowing you've won him over. You move your hands to his thighs, holding yourself steady as you inch your mouth close to his crotch. His breathing is heavy, his eyes are growing dark, hungry.
You smile sweetly. “Say the word,” you whisper. “Do you or do you not want me to help you?”
“Yes,” he says quietly.
You kiss his cock through the fabric of his suit and he groans lowly. You smile, kissing again. “Does this thing come off?” you ask.
A quiet growl leaves him and he picks you up, turning you around and bending you over the desk until. You gasp at the sudden movement, the pressure of his body on your back, his hard cock pressing against your ass.
“You're in trouble,” he warns, his thick, rough hands tugging your stockings down almost aggressively. “I'm going to have to fuck that stupid attitude of yours out, ¿me oyes?” You hear? He leans down, running his sharp fangs down against the side of your neck. “I'm not stopping until you fucking behave.”
You laugh softly, smoothly. “I don't behave.”
You can feel him smirk against your nape. “Oh, bonita, I'll make you behave.”

LET'S TALK ABOUT WHO LOKI CHOOSES
I've previously discussed romantic tropes in the Loki series in my meta here. This meta supports the former by counting each of Loki's decisions with each of Loki's love interests (Sylvie and Mobius) and where those decisions occur in the progression of the overall story of S1 and S2 combined. The end of S1 is the midpoint of the whole story. Bear this in mind as I track how Loki's decision-making shifts. You can even choose to view Loki's decision-making with respect to Mobius as platonic if you want. It doesn't change the plot, count, or character development.
I have to give Sylvie attention and credit where it is due. To not do so would not only ignore her legitimate importance in the series and Loki's development, but it would also undermine my own credibility as an essayist. Feel free to comment, but here are my ground rules: no hate and no yucking other people's yum.
S1E1: Loki chooses himself. We could make the argument Loki chooses to trust Mobius here, but I don't think we see Loki start to like Mobius as a person until S1E2.
S1E2: Loki straddles between choosing himself and choosing to help Mobius because he actually wants to. It helps that the latter serves self-preservation. Loki most obviously chooses himself when he bullshits Mobius at the RenFaire. His choice is more gray when proposing the apocalypse theory. To be conservative, I won't count this in Mobius's favor. However, I feel fairly confident Loki chooses to help Mobius (1) sift through the possible apocalypses because of this genuine reaction:
Tumblr media
Loki is starved for praise. He's a centuries-old god for goodness sakes.
When a third option presents itself at Roxxcart, Loki chooses himself and Sylvie (1).
Tumblr media
S1E3: Loki chooses to: 1.) help Sylvie through "attempting diplomacy" with the widow (2), 2.) help Sylvie with his "shit plan" disguise (3), 3.) be vulnerable with Sylvie on the train (4), 4.) sing Sylvie a song (5), 5.) help Sylvie get to the arc (6).
Tumblr media
S1E4: Loki chooses to comfort Sylvie by holding her hand; their feelings for each other trigger a giant Nexus Event (7). Loki chooses to tell Mobius the truth about the TVA; if he didn't care about Mobius, he would have withheld this information (2). Loki chooses to trust Mobius (3). Loki chooses to reciprocate Mobius’s feelings of friendship (4). Loki chooses, with Mobius, to find and rescue Sylvie (8). Loki chooses to combat Renslayer with Sylvie (9). Loki chooses to confront the Timekeepers with Sylvie and gets pruned (10).
Tumblr media
S1E5: Loki chooses to share a blanket with Sylvie (11). Loki chooses to stay in the Void and follow Sylvie to the end of time, "Where you go, I go" (12). Loki chooses to hug Mobius (5). Loki chooses to trust Sylvie's insistence that he intrinsically knows how to enchant (13).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
S1E6 (THE MIDPOINT): The confrontation with HWR is tricky. Loki chooses to slow down and think about the consequences because he's learned the value of slowing down and thinking from Mobius (6). Loki chooses to kiss Sylvie back (I realize this is debatable for many Lokius fans, but I'm not going to argue this; 14)
Tumblr media
S2 NOTES: For the sake of my own sanity, I am not counting Loki's unconscious and conscious timeslipping. You can refer to the counts for that in my meta here. I will also not be counting the near-infinite number of loops Loki refuses to kill Sylvie for "the good of the multiverse."
S2E1: Loki chooses to seek out Mobius for help (7). Loki chooses to be vulnerable with Mobius in the hallway (8). Loki chooses to trust Mobius's judgment that they only have one shot at stopping the timeslipping (9).
Tumblr media
S2E2: Loki chooses to protect Mobius from Brad (10). Loki chooses to help Mobius reverse-engineer Brad's TemPad (11). Loki chooses to comfort Mobius in the pie automat (12). Loki chooses to follow Mobius's intimidation plan for Brad (13). Loki chooses to convince Sylvie to join his and the TVA's cause (Sylvie declines #1; 15). Loki chooses to hold hands with Sylvie to combine their blast power (16). Loki chooses to follow Mobius back to the TVA (14). Loki chooses to ask Sylvie to stay and help (Sylvie declines #2; 17). Loki chooses to comfort Mobius in the Control Room (15).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
S2E3: Loki chooses to humor Mobius's sightseeing (16). Loki chooses to try cracker jack (and hates it; 17). Loki chooses to prioritize the Loom per Mobius’s advisement (18). Loki chooses to give into Mobius's tandem bike request (19). Loki chooses to plead with Sylvie to spare Timely and asks for her help (NOTE: this is Loki's 3rd request; writers love the significance of threes and Sylvie turns Loki down all three times; 18).
Tumblr media
S2E4: Loki chooses to defend Mobius in the Pie Automat (20). Loki chooses to compare (through implication) Thor's relationship with Jane with his relationship with Mobius (21). Loki chooses to use this same comparison to assure Sylvie that her mercy on Timely was an act of mercy for all people on all timelines (19).
Tumblr media
S2E5: Loki chooses to look for Mobius in the Pie Automat (22). Loki chooses to look for Mobius in the Control Room (23). Loki chooses to recruit Mobius (24). Loki chooses to quote Mobius's "form and function" to Don (25), Loki chooses to help Mobius through the time door (26). Loki chooses to promise Don (Mobius) that he can return him to any point in time (27). Loki chooses to recruit Sylvie (20; she turns him down a 4th time). Loki chooses to argue with Sylvie that Mobius should have a choice (28). Loki chooses to listen to Sylvie that his friends are better off without the TVA (21). Loki chooses to let Don go for Mobius’s own good (29). Loki chooses to control timeslipping upon hearing Sylvie say "Do you think what makes a Loki a Loki is that we're destined to lose?" (22). Loki chooses to rewrite the story to save Sylvie and Mobius (23 / 30, respectively).
Tumblr media
S2E6: Loki chooses to reenact all of Mobius's small gestures of kindness even though they cost precious time: he chooses to hold Victor's glasses (31), he chooses to compliment OB's "not to scale" model (32), he chooses to recite an abbreviated version of his and Mobius's bickering over "who's in the suit?" (33), he chooses to finish Mobius's joke about taking OB's job (34). He chooses to seek out Past Mobius for guidance and comfort (35). He chooses to shake Mobius's hand (36). He chooses to talk Sylvie out of killing HWR (24). He chooses to sacrifice himself to save Sylvie and Mobius (25 / 37, respectively). He chooses to listen (and watch?) to Mobius say, "Let time pass" (38).
Tumblr media
Loki chooses Sylvie: 25
Loki chooses Mobius: 38
If I missed any decision points for either Sylvie or Mobius, let me know and I'll update the meta and counts accordingly.
Ultimately, Loki's sacrifice is for BOTH Mobius AND Sylvie. BOTH ships are important to the narrative and Loki. However, between the two of them, there is only one person who has consistently chosen Loki since S1E1, never rejected Loki and his requests for help, and who has, in turn, unknowingly been chosen by Loki in kind. Need a meta for Mobius’s decision-making? Here it is.

i need to know how the guildpact creation went down. svogthir starts off with "ill be in charge of sanitation and the biggest chunk of food production" and then it passes over to mat'selesnya who says she'll do public parks, which okay fine i guess. and then cisarzim is like "ill protect green spaces, which is different from what she said" and, like, half the guilds take as little responsibility as possible while the other half is like "ill do all the infrastructure and utilities". simic takes on being the healthcare system for one of the most dangerous planes in the multiverse and then szadek says he will do his best to undermine the pact hes about to sign and that will be his primary job. everyone is so tired and had no expectations for him anyway so they just say okay and move on

Do you think giving rise to the Joker would ruin his character?Honestly, in my opinion, it would completely ruin his character. I think the Joker not having a definitive origin is what makes me love the villain. The aspect of him being mysterious, and an unstoppable chaos is absolutely amazing. I honestly lose all desire to read any Joker comics when they create a definitive origin for him. And honestly, I hated that the three jokers were canon.
Myeah, I feel you. There's a reason I haven't kept up with comics recently (besides real life sucking out my soul with the amount of work I have to do). I just don't like what they're doing with Joker, ever since the idea of multiple Jokers resurfaced. Zdarsky and Rosenberg are good writers, but not even them could overcome my utter dislike at the idea of multiple canonical Jokers... I mean it's not their fault, it's fucking Geoff Johns' fault, but still.
I do agree that delving into Joker's backstory so much takes away from his character, although I can't say I am entirely opposed to stories hinting at it or exploring it. It's such an interesting aspect of him, the way he rebuilds himself and his past and his whole personality-- so I don't think this should be left untouched. It should just be done well. The thing about Joker is that he's Batman's narrative foil and parallel; if Batman is human, Joker is human. They both want to be more than that, but at the end of the day they're two human beings, and that's the appeal. If Joker is honestly depicted as an almost supernaturally evil monster whom Bruce cannot defeat... it completely undermines the dynamic. What's interesting is to have Bruce believe these things, and even Joker himself desperately try to leave humanity behind, but then have the story point out that it's just not possible (like Snyder did, God bless). That Joker is still a person, who despite the mystery and the subterfuge, does have a past. But turning that past into a certainty traps the character into a box, when versatility is one of his core traits. Not to mention how badly it fucks him up to imply he never had agency in his becoming as Joker (like in the Multiverse arc with Darwin Halliday).
To sum up, I don't think stories touching on Joker's past entirely ruin him as a villain. I think it very much depends on the capacity of the writer, to handle a character of Joker's complexity.

The headcanon thing for Rick Prime? Please?
Tumblr media
@abed-with-a-knife
headcanon A: realistic
prime and c-137 have teamed up in the past. they both make mentions to being engaged in a sort of "team up" and i'm pretty sure it was with each other or w other ricks. i just know that the secret society thing of ricks that prime gave the portal guns to was the predecessor to the citadel. but with c-137, i think they had a more unique relationship. bc our rick didn't need the portal gun formula bc he invented it himself, i think prime had more respect for him in that way and i don't think our rick was privy to whatever it was the secret society of ricks was doing in the background. still, their team up mainly consisted of exploration. prime showed rick infinity, guiding him through it, but not like a god or even a teacher. more like another traveller who was slightly more experienced. they were equals.
headcanon B: unrealistic but hilarious
while they were teamed up, our rick was in a relationship right? but c-137 being MARRIED and all, i imagine he had reservations about a rickcest relationship. but i think rick and diane had a multi universally shitty marriage so eventually he overcame it. either way, i think bc of the respect he had for rick, prime developed a special bond and attachment to him unlike any of the others. i think they did have a relationship but it was mostly unrequited. prime being emotionally invested in c-137, writing little love letters, wanting to give him everything he could but rick saw it as basically glorified masturbation. nothing more. he was loyal to his family and it broke prime's heart. basically, rick prime is a lovesick puppy and that heartbreak turned him cold and cruel.
headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful
rick prime left his wife. he literally found the secret to interdimensional travel and abandoned his family. beth prime confirms this. he was a shit father and a shit husband but diane didn't stand for it. that's why he makes all the diane bots to be cruel little things that mock ricks specifically about sexual aspects of their relationship bc it's the cheapest shot but also the easiest to take offence to. but he also resents her bc they could never make it work. he lacks the self awareness to see where he went wrong as a father and a husband which is why he just up and left. i don't think he had zero feelings about this. i just think that instead of reflecting on what he did wrong, he became so resentful towards his diane to justify the use of the omega device.
also, c-137 was the first rick whose diane was killed by prime. he finally realised it was prime and went to seek revenge. only then did prime wipe diane from the multiverse, to teach rick a lesson for trying to oppose him. as a way of saying "this is what you get for crossing me" even if he KNEW it wouldn't fulfil him and only make our rick and many many others determined to destroy him. therefore, he cemented himself as the rickest rick - the most evil, forced to be unfeeling, apathetic, antisocial being different from even other ricks because he let all the diane's in the multiverse burn like the sun to teach one rick - a rick he was close to, no less - a lesson. his exile, his isolation was all self inflicted. he knew it would come to that and yet... he had to do it still so that he could be the superior.
headcanon D: unrealistic
he was as obsessed w our rick as our rick was with him. calling him the "wife guy" was a way to undermine the grip that c-137 had on him. knocking him down to just the first rick whose diane he killed. not the rick who stole his heart, not the rick who he respected above all, not the only other rick to actually invent portal travel - just "wife guy", because any title beyond that is too good for him.
also his regenerative abilities are somehow linked to c-137. don't know how but i say so.
leave more suggestions in my ask box PLEASE

I love how the “the greatest threat to our universe is Doctor Strange” line got swept under the carpet so quickly when literally every version of Stephen has proven to be insanely dangerous if he wants to be.
Stephen Strange
Tumblr media
-endures 1000+ loops of agony and pain by Dormammu to protect the Earth
-casually deals with two gods, Thor and Loki (tricking the god of mischief nonetheless)
-endures torture, lives and dies through 14 million possible outcomes, fights an intergalactic warlord with four infinity stones one-on-one, gets dusted, brings together an entire army in about ten minutes, fights in a massive battle… all in what was to him a few hours, without a rest
- selectively erases the memory of eight billion people, any record or mention of Peter Parker that there is throughout the entire world, including himself
-uses the Darkhold to dreamwalk into his own corpse. Proceeds to control and command the Souls of the Damned
-gains a third eye
-causes an incursion
Sinister Strange
Tumblr media
-frequently uses the Darkhold to dreamwalk into variants of himself
-destroys his own universe as well as others
-gains a third eye
-causes incursions
Supreme Strange
Tumblr media
-formulates a team to lead their universe
-creates Waypoint between universes
-causes an incursion
-uses both the Darkhold and the Book of Vishanti
-kills Thanos
Defender Strange
Tumblr media
-captures powerful demon
-continues to keep control of demon even while severely injured
-gets impaled, uses spell to save America as his dying breath
Strange Supreme
Tumblr media
-spends countless loops watching (and failing to prevent) the love of his life dying
-absorbs power from interdimensional creatures for centuries, with every creature actively fighting to escape him
-senses the presence of and converses with The Watcher
-manipulates the Time Stone into becoming a Reality/Soul/Time Stone merge
-brings Christine back to life
-accidentally destroys his own universe
-opens multiversal portals
-protects his teammates throughout the entirely of the battle agianst Ultron
-absorbs the energy of a destroyed galaxy with no effort
-withstands the force of all six infinity stones one-on-one for several minutes
In Conclusion: Stephen’s endurance and ambition is not to be undermined. If he wants something bad enough, he will get it.

I'm really disappointed by the March of the Machine finale. A lot of the individual plot points (Gruulfriends, Mirrans escaping to Zhalfir) are good, but chapter 9 was so far from the high-stakes war the card set seems like it'll depict.
The battle on New Phyrexia felt tiny and had barely any of the interplanar cooperation we've been led to expect. Realmbreaker being used to connect the planes for some big final counterattack where legends from across the Multiverse bring the fight to New Phyrexia was such an obvious and cool climax, and it seems like that's what all the key art for the set is depicting, but it just,,didn't happen???
Why does killing Norn remove the power of the oil?? Even if she had somehow gained direct control over it and all Phyrexians (which doesn't make any sense), that should have at least been hinted at earlier and it makes the constant Phyrexian infighting inexplicable.
Every Phyrexian from Heliod to Jin-Gitaxias suddenly became comically incompetent when it was time for them to lose, and of all the throwaway deaths, the one that really galled me was Vorinclex. How the fuck did he die from being decapitated by some Zhalfirin nobody? Aside from the fact that getting his head chopped off absolutely shouldn't be enough to kill him, him falling for Teferi's "look behind you" is uncharacteristic stupidity coming out of nowhere from a character who should be a real threat. Pretty much every villain's death in this set (and there were SO MANY) felt unearned to the point where it undermined the threat they ever posed. What were those silly Kaldheim folks ever afraid of? Don't they have any flaming swords? They could've taken care of Vorinclex in 30 seconds!
Honestly, this just reinforces the feeling I've had for years that the stories have become a deuterocanonical approximation of the actual plot, and the real story is depicted on the cards.

I am absolutely IN LOVE with the idea of Nightmare and Shattered Dream teaming up and wrecking the Multiverse together. They both have the resentment towards one another and are constantly undermining and running each other over (like siblings do, "I CAN CONQUER MORE AUS THAN YOU CAN, LOSRR!!") but they still begrudgingly work as a horrific duo. Where good feelings come to die.
I wonder what topics I could pull from that dynamic tbh.

Regarding the new Fionna and Cake trailers
In particular the Youtube trailer.
I'm not discussing AT actively much here at the moment, because of two reasons -
I'm not quite in my hyperfixation phase. We've been steadily rewatching it, but it's a nice slow burn rather than the fire that has fuelled my previous activity.
My girlfriend is watching it for the first time!! I wanna save all the awesome discussions for when she finishes it!
And an episode we watched this Sunday just gone was Obsidian, and an episode we will be watching the upcoming Sunday is TOGETHER AGAIIIIIN.
Anyway the reason I'm posting is because there's a shot of Adult Finn with Jake, and Adult Finn has the tattoo from Obsidian but is a bit older (and buffer) than from that time period.
If this indicates that Jake was not dead in Obsidian, that's a bit of a let down. Like, backing down from a stance they took when they wrote Obsidian. Because I am absolutely certain that they wrote Obsidian with the idea that Jake had died while Finn was still quite young, and Together Again backs this up.
This would be undermined by Jake being with Finn after he got that tattoo, it doesn't make sense that Finn would have a Jake tattoo with Forget Me Nots, in an episode where Jake is mysteriously absent, airing shortly before an episode where Jake turned out to have died way before Finhn, if Jake only died AFTER that point. It's a U-turn.
Anyway this is my first criticism of the miniseries. I haven't got any others, but there were a couple of emotional looking scenes in the trailers. I'm wondering if it'll have the same issue as one or two Distant Lands episodes where it hamfistedly wants you to be emotionally invested in scenes and characters that haven't earned it (Y5 Y5 Y5 Y5 Y5 Y5 Y5.....).
Otherwise, it's looking very exciting. There's all sorts of crazy shit happening .
I'm pretty sure that's not my Marceline and not my Princess Bubblegum, but we'll see! It's a multiverse and I would VERY DISAPPOINTED if they spent too much time in AT world proper.

Re: The Book of Life idea introduced in Good Omens Season 2… I read a really fascinating meta that posited that the reason S2 is so weird and full of such bad writing is because Metatron is actively re-writing the past and present to get his chosen outcome as the season goes. Which is massively intriguing but I think a very risky and indeed downright unwise move to pull by a writer, especially with so much money on the line and streaming/prestige television so very cutthroat right now for every dollar. Good Omens is an expensive show and perhaps not the best place to play silly buggers like that. HOWEVER, I am still revolving the idea in my head so kudos for the concept, seriously! It’s not wholly implausible and it’s very intriguing!
But one problem I have with the Book of Life concept in general, where being erased there makes you erased PERMANENTLY, is that it’s such a dangerously massive magical idea to introduce to ANY story. Personally, I thought Crowley was more likely right and it was made up as a threat because otherwise:
- Why not erase Lucifer and prevent the Rebellion from ever happening?
- If you can’t because it’s God’s (Ineffable) Plan for Lucifer to Fall, then how could any angel or demon threaten unmaking seriously? God wouldn’t allow it. Unless that too was the plan then the logic gets all circular but the point is, if it does exist and you can punish disobedience with it, then why not use it on the ORIGINAL angelic disobedience?
- If you can use it to punish disobedience, then why not just erase Aziraphale and/or Crowley back so that their original meddling with the Apocalypse that both Heaven and Hell wanted so badly could go through as planned?
- If Metatron has access to the Book of Life enough to edit things, this invalidating Free Will AND God’s Plan, unless we get circular, then there’s no need for the Second Coming, you can just have the first Apocalypse go off without a hitch in the cascade of Aziraphale never having existed.
- Now, if he wants to give Aziraphale the Archangel job so that he can get Aziraphale messing up and disobeying on the record so he can punish him with erasure… again, if disobedience can warrant that, why not erase Lucifer? Or Aziraphale before this point?
- OR, perhaps Metatron has somehow killed God or otherwise wrested away control, so this is a new play?
The problem with introducing the awesome power of the ability to totally unmake people so they never existed, and presumably create a cascade as a result, is from a Doylist writer perspective it’s just way too powerful. But as David Gaider (of Dragon Age franchise writer fame) pointed out in a thread about multiverses, once you introduce something that powerful to your fantasy world, it really can undermine everything else because it provides a solution to almost every possible conflict.
So if the Book of Life can alter the story as we watch it. If it can erase events and people so they never existed…. Hooo boy, yeah that’s powerful but it’s also really bad to introduce to a story because it can fix or UNfix ANYTHING in your story and introducing that level of power and chaos to a narrative is very VERY dicey.
