the frozen ii ending makes me soooooo angry like the whole POINT of frozen i was that elsa learned that she could rule arendelle with her powers and with anna by her side!!! literally in the bway musical she sings ‘i know i’ll never see that sunny day / when this trial is finally through / and it can just be me and you’ like. elsa WANTS to stay with anna
and they try and explain this somewhat in into the unknown, with the ‘who knows deep down i’m not where i’m meant to be’ but. WHY isn’t she where she’s meant to be. all of the first film was her learning that she belonged in arendelle and her powers/herself wasn’t something to be afraid of. why isn’t she meant to be with her family? with her sister who’s been desperate to reconnect with her? why doesn’t she belong where people readily love her and accept her and want the best for her?
and then, what about anna? there is no mention of her wanting/being ready to be queen in either two films. we don’t even see the offer on screen; we don’t get the sisters’ quiet, vulnerable conversation where elsa admits to wanting to live with the rest of the nature spirits and anna offers to take her place as queen. we don’t see anna begging elsa to stay in the forest because she can rule if elsa’s happier there. we never see their dialogue. it’s just so sudden. is anna once again just going along with what her sister wants? is elsa isolating herself all over again? we just don’t know. they both seem happy, but there’s barely any indication that it’ll lead up to that point.
it just makes no sense for either of their arcs, or their previous wants/needs. if they were meant to stay together, why separate them again? they just got each other back. and now they’re alone again.

Trollfully United
@kristanna-days
I originally intended this to be for the “first time” prompt from Pearl but it went beyond the drabble or double drabble I originally had in mind, and it also fits in with “royalty” from Amethyst, so here it is... This is based on an idea I originally had in 2019 before Frozen II even came out, and it’s basically some backstory to The Young Diplomat, but it doesn’t require knowing anything about that.
This takes place immediately after everyone gets back to Arendelle following the mist lifting...
Anna had expected the enthusiastic greeting from the entire town and, of course, the trolls, when they returned from the Enchanted Forest, but somehow, despite her previous experience with the trolls, she hadn’t been expecting their response to seeing her ring.
“Kristoff!” Bulda gasped, “did she say yes?”
Kristoff nodded, his eyes gone wide.
“Well, of course we can take care of that right now!”
“Wait-” he tried to protest. “Anna?”
“Take care of what?” Anna asked innocently.
“Why, the wedding, of course!” Bulda replied. The other trolls came forward, and a few people from town had begun noticing the commotion.
“I suppose everyone is here,” Anna said, glancing over at Elsa, along with a few others who had joined them on the journey home.
“Are you sure, Anna?” Kristoff asked.
The trolls were staring at her, blinking.
“Of course!” she declared, grabbing Kristoff’s hand, looking up at him. “If you are, I mean…”
“As long as you’re sure about this,” he promised, squeezing her hand.
The trolls got to work, pulling Anna and Kristoff in different directions.  Anna remembered everything before, though it felt much different knowing ahead of time what they were planning.  As the trolls were dressing the two of them, a crowd was beginning to gather.  Elsa came over.
“What’s going on, Anna?” she asked.
“Um…” Anna hemmed. “Elsa, do you remember what I told you about the trolls, you know, before?”
“Yes?” Elsa asked more than answered.
“They, um, saw the ring, and asked if they could, you know, take care of it?”
“You’re getting married right now?” Elsa asked.
“It looks like it, yes,” Anna admitted, smiling. She was starting to feel rather nervous, but she wasn’t second guessing herself. “But, Elsa, you’re here, and, well, practically everyone is here!”
“You’re sure?” Elsa asked, grasping Anna’s hands.
“Very sure! I know maybe I’m a bit nervous, but I’m sure about this.”
Elsa smiled. Then cleared her throat and stepped back a little.
“Well, Anna, I already gave Kristoff my blessing a while ago, I don’t know if he told you that. And I did quietly bring it up with the council members, and they’re fine with Kristoff, too.”
Anna let out a giggle, looking over at the group of Arendellian nobles standing off to the side, eying the trolls suspiciously. “Maybe we should find some wine to serve them. That usually cheers them up.”
“Good idea,” Elsa whispered. “Maybe Halima or Oaken have something handy for a celebration, I’ll go talk with them. You finish getting ready.”
Anna watched Elsa run off to talk to the townspeople.  The trolls had finished decking her out in their traditional wedding costume, and she could see Kristoff over on the other side of the clearing being similarly dressed. Elsa seemed satisfied with whatever arrangements she had made, and the trolls seemed to have noticed this, too, and began singing.
Everyone’s attention was now on the hole that had suddenly been dug in the center.  They got to the point in the ceremony when, a few years before, they had quickly put a stop to things. It was very different now, and she and Kristoff both quickly said “yes” when they were asked. Anna had been a little worried, since Kristoff seemed to be hesitant, but perhaps it really was that he didn’t want to rush her.
Then, the crowd cheered. They were married. Anna could see Oaken and Halima each handing out food and drink to the people around.  Suddenly, the trolls began building rocks over the pit.
“What’s happening?” Anna asked.
Kristoff looked up. “Oh, right, they’re building a hut.”
“With us inside?”
“Did I never tell you about that part?”
Anna shook her head.  “When do we get out?”
“In the morning.”
“Wait, what?”  Anna exclaimed. “I was hoping to at least get something to eat.”
“Don’t worry, there’s food!” Kristoff said, reaching over to a basket Anna hadn’t noticed.
“Not a stew, please tell me it’s not a stew..” Anna muttered.
“Take a look!” Kristoff said, grabbing a roll for himself.
Anna looked. There were various breads, some chocolates, some fruit, and some other things.
“Nice!” she exclaimed.
After eating, she looked around. There were soft moss blankets all around, and crystals creating the soft glow of light inside that she hadn’t thought to question when she had been so hungry.
They were alone.  Anna looked over at Kristoff, who was sitting looking back at her.
“So, we’re alone, aren’t we?” she said, scooting a little closer.
Kristoff felt along the moss on the ceiling, as if he were inspecting something for purchase.
“Yes,” he smiled, bringing Anna in for a kiss.
“Do you think everyone is still outside?” she asked a moment later.
“I expect they are,” he replied. “But I wouldn’t think too hard about that. In some of the outlying towns they still tuck the couple into bed on their wedding night, you know.”
Anna giggled at this. “Really?”
“It’s your kingdom, you should know,” Kristoff smirked.
“Oh,” Anna groaned, giving him a joking shove. One of the leaves decorating his head fell off.  She realized they were both still wearing the crowns and capes the trolls had dressed them in.
“We should get these off,” Kristoff suggested, removing Anna’s crown first.
She proceeded to take off his crown and then his cape, pausing as she reached around his back.
“There,” she said, dropping the cape behind him. She kissed him, and he pulled her in tight.
After a moment, Anna sat back and began unbuttoning the buttons on the cuffs of her sleeves. She watched Kristoff looking at her, and as she was about to unbutton the back of her dress, she stopped.
“Kristoff?”
“Yes?” he asked, his voice strained.
“How are you?” She placed her hand on his knee, not sure what she should actually be saying now.  Novels always seemed to gloss over the wedding night.
“Fine, fine,” he answered, his breathing shaky.
“Would you rather I leave this on for now?”
“Yes- I mean no! I mean…” he let out a frustrated sigh.  “Whatever you want?”
“I think,” she began, then turned around with her back to him, “I need some help with these buttons. They’re a bit hard for me to reach.”
It was sort of a lie, she had managed them on her own plenty of times.
She pulled her hair out of the way, and felt Kristoff’s fingers gingerly touching the button between her shoulders at the base of her neck.  It took him a moment to undo the first one, then he seemed a bit more sure of himself as his hands made the way down her back.
He stopped at her waist, resting his hands on her hips, reaching around. Anna took in a breath. She had felt his hands on her waist before, but now it felt a little more exciting. He traced around the top of the sash around the dress, deftly untying it.
“Here,” he said, handing it over her shoulder, stopping to kiss the spot on the side of her neck that was exposed.
She let the sash crumble into her lap, and he finished with the rest of the buttons. She was beginning to feel impatient, and started slipping the top of her dress off, turning around to see Kristoff.
“I can get the rest of this,” she said, looking at him. “Do you need any help?”
“I think I’ve got this,” he said, swiftly pulling off his shirt.
She finished getting off the rest of her clothes, and moved over  in the few inches remaining between them. He was warm, and she could feel his heartbeat racing. He hadn’t finished undressing, but took a moment to kiss her now that she was in his lap.
“You know I haven’t…” he trailed off.
“That’s fine,” she assured him, kissing him again.
She sat back as he finished getting his trousers off, looking somewhat impatient himself. The two of them sat on the soft moss for a few moments which felt like an eternity. This was it.

Synopsis: When you and Tom realize how much your baby daughter loves Frozen, Tom decides to surprise her playing her favorite song, but she doesn't have the reaction he was hoping for.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A/n: Hey!! So I'm super excited to share this fic that started out as me sending a cute video to my incredible friend @kidney9-9 until I asked her if she wanted to write this fic with me. Go check all her work, she's an incredible writer, and I'm so lucky to have such a sweet friend. :) Let us know if you like it!! 💖💖
A/n 2: hi y'all hope you enjoy this colab! it was super fun and amazing, please follow and make sure to read my friend's writing! it's all incredible and so cool! :) thank you for reading!💖💖
It was a quiet evening, just relaxing at home with Tom and Sophie, when you heard the familiar strums of a guitar. It was only a few notes at first until you recognized the song that your husband was playing. It was a sweet song with such sweet memories that made you lull into a thought of the past.
As soon as the soft knock on Elsa's door stopped and Anna started singing, your daughter looked at the TV screen as if it was the sweetest melody she has ever heard and it made Tom's heart melt. The way Sophie's eyes were so focused on the screen made you laugh, it's like she was hypnotized. As soon as the song ended, she went running to you and Tom, telling you two how much she loved that part of the movie and the song.
Over the next few days, you and Tom giggled and chuckled about Sophie’s concentration and seriousness in practicing the song. You even watched her as she tried to make a dance routine, it was so cute and precious. One of the days, she even got into your closet and put an old pair of heels on, saying it was her turn to perform. You and Tom cheered her on as she belted out to her new favorite song, telling her how amazing she was.
Knowing how much your daughter loved that song, Tom learned how to play it on his guitar and how to sing the lyrics for Sophie. Tom practiced for that all week, because who cares if he's got to memorize Spiderman lines for the next movie, he needs to impress his baby daughter first. On Sunday he was finally ready to give your daughter the performance she deserved, but what he didn't expect was how much she hated it.
You started recording once Tom gave you the go-ahead and placed the phone down in a steady position on the table. You sat back quietly as Sophie walked into the room, confused at the sound of the guitar. She was usually at daycare when Tom practiced the song, or asleep. Tom chuckled, feeling excited to show her the song he’s been practicing.
Instead of the original “Elsa?” In the beginning of the song, he replaced it with Sophie, and you giggled a bit, glancing over to her. “Sophie? Do you wanna build a snowman? C’mon let’s go and play!” Tom sang, smiling widely as he watched Sophie unfold what was happening.
She struggled to say something at first, making Tom sure that she enjoyed it but the moment she opened her mouth, he realized he was wrong. “NO! NO! Stop it right now!”
Knowing how self conscious Tom gets about his voice you weren't sure if you should laugh at your 3 year old daughter hating her dad singing and playing for the first time to someone other than you. Before you could say something, Sophie turned to her dad who seemed confused about if he should keep playing, knowing how you two have the same weird sense of humor and this could be another one of his daughter's jokes.
Uncertain of his next movement, Tom went back to just playing his guitar, too scared of his daughter hating his voice. Before he could even touch the first string Sophie snatched the guitar with her little hands, shouting out,  ''No more Frozen for you!''
Sophie tried to take her dad's guitar out of his hands, but she realized it's useless to carry something that heavy, instead, she went to her room and searched for the Olaf plush one of her many uncles got her as soon as they heard about her newest obsession. Holding it tight as if it was the real character, she sang to it softly the melody that she loves the most in the world.
Back in the living room, you and Tom stared at each other for a few silent seconds, confused about what Sophie did. “What? I thought she loved that song.” Tom spoke up, a bit dejected and upset. He didn’t understand her reaction at all but he snapped out of his thoughts once he felt you place your hand on his shoulder, after you stopped the video.
“I think she does. Don’t be upset babe. I think she wasn’t expecting that!” You cheered him up, smiling back to him. You didn’t want to laugh in front of him in case that gave him the wrong impression, but you found it adorable that Sophie stopped him that way. You never saw her act that way before, but you could tell she really cared about Frozen.
“Maybe? I’m just confused why she did that.” Tom responded, shrugging back to you. After another moment, you sent him another sweet smile, still finding his song incredible.
“You’re a great singer and guitarist, honey. Maybe she was jealous or something.” You reassured him once more.
Tom still thought that something went wrong with his voice, until you tried to lighten up the mood. ''Did you see how she held the guitar strings to try to stop you from going again?'' You chuckled, and Tom put the guitar aside so that he could put his hands on his face. For a second you were worried that you said something wrong that would make him more upset, but he took his hands off his face. And then you saw that he was trying to hold back his laugh, and that was a sound that you loved to hear. ''I'm just glad she didn't throw something at me''
''C'mon,'' You tried to restrain yourself from laughing, but you ended up joining your husband. ''It wasn't that bad!'' You said while losing your breath from laughing too hard.
''I mean, I'm sure I won't be able to dress up Frozen themed for her birthday next month now.'' He said, understanding that would only make you laugh more. ''Man, I had the dress and everything, even bought the blonde wig on Amazon.'' He pretended to be upset about it, and almost immediately looked at you to see if you were amused.
A few quiet minutes went by before you two heard Sophie’s voice carry through the house. You knitted your eyebrows together, instantly recognizing the tune she was singing and Tom tilted his head to the side as well. “Is that what I think it is?” He mumbled to you as you started to smile more, nodding your head back to his question.
“Let’s go check up on her.” You whispered back, not wanting Sophie to hear you while she sang. You got up from the couch, along with Tom and slowly walked up the stairs, hearing her voice get louder.
“Do you wanna build a snowman? It doesn't have to be a snowman. Go away, Anna! Okay, bye.” Sophie continued, not noticing you and her dad in the doorway. She was playing with her Olaf plushie, making him dance along to her song.
You glanced back to Tom, chuckling silently as he smiled back over to Sophie, proud she was singing. He understood why she acted that way now; that song was special to her and only her. Maybe she didn’t want to hear her dad sing it and possibly embarrass her.
Tom wrapped his arm around your shoulder, clearing his throat once Sophie stopped singing.
As the newest singer in the family stopped her performance, you two sat on Sophie's bed waiting for her to continue while smiling, encouraging her to keep going. When she went back to her little concert, you smiled at Tom while leaning into whisper, ''Watch and learn how your daughter is not shy at all about singing in front of people.''
He scoffed knowing you were just teasing him. ''Please, we don't count. She has seen you cry, and sing, over Louis Tomlinson's solo on History.''
''Hey! That's low, you know how that song makes me cry, it's their last song, it's their goodb-'' Tom stopped you before you told him again how much that song meant to you and the fans. ''Ok ok I'm sorry babe, I think it's a great solo, I'd cry if I was a fan too.'' He said while putting your head on his shoulder. ''Don't talk shit about my boyband, that's my Frozen.''
Tom laughed at your reference, and turned around seeing his daughter suddenly quiet. She climbs on Tom's lap, while you two hug and congratulate her on her amazing performance. Too caught up on the family hug, you didn’t notice your daughter leaning to whisper in her dad's ear.
''Daddy?''
''Yea my love?'' He hummed back.
''What's shit?'' Tom's eyes widened as he looked at you begging for you to help him. You raised your eyebrows at him and shrugged before leaning over to Sophie.
“Don’t know, I heard him say it first.”

Two posts in one day
Anyways have some fluff
Marinette and Dick were getting ready for a movie night, they were going to watch all the Disney movies starting with Frozen. Dick and Marinette had managed to convince his whole family to join them for movie night. They had all protested but in the end, they gave up when Marinette gave them the puppy eyes, knowing they couldn’t resist them.
They had set up a blanket and pillow fort big enough for the whole family and had a bunch of snacks set out and were ready to play the movie. Once everyone got settled down Dick put on the movie and hit play. Damian was complaining about how this movie was for little kids. Alfred sighed at him and he fussed, complaining about how he had no idea why Dick had chosen that movie.
Marinette told Damian to shush and just watch the movie. Damian glared at her but Marinette didn’t even notice so he settled for a scoff and turned his attention to the movie. Jason would make remarks here and there but no one would pay attention so he just stopped once he noticed.
Once the first song came on, Dick and Marinette started singing along to Do You Want to Build A Snowman. Everyone couldn’t help but groan. They didn’t want to hear Dick and Marinette sing along to the song, this was torture for them. In fact, they were pretty sure Marinette and Dick wanted to torture them just by singing if the increasing volume was any indication.
Luckily the song didn’t last that long but after that, they had to endure Dicks tears during the scene where Anna got blasted by Elsa’s power. Dick had wailed about how Anna wouldn’t wake up only to perk up once they had taken her to the trolls.
After Dick calmed down they continued to watch the movie in peace until the death scene of Anna and Elsa’s parents came on. Only this time, it was Marinette crying along with Dick and everyone was looking at them with pity. They managed to calm just in time for the next song that came on and Dick and Marinette started singing along again.
Jason let out a frustrated sigh and Bruce just shook his head. Tim was sleep deprived so he wasn’t paying attention and Damian just scowled, his eyebrows furrowed the whole time. Alfred enjoyed watching them sing along to songs and acting it out.
Once they got to the scene where Anna and Hans sang, they started singing along once again.
Marinette:Okay, can I just say something crazy?
Dick:I love crazy!
Marinette:All my life has been a series of doors in my face
And then suddenly I bump into you
Dick:I was thinking the same thing! 'Cause like
I've been searching my whole life to find my own place
And maybe it's the party talking or the chocolate fondue
Marinette:But with you
Dick:But with you
I found my place
Marinette:I see your face
Dick and Marinette:And it's nothing like I've ever known before!
Love is an open door!
Love is an open door!
Love is an open door!
With you!
With you!
With you!
With you!
Love is an open door
Dick:I mean it's crazy
Marinette:What?
Dick:We finish each other's
Marinette:Sandwiches!
Dick:That's what I was gonna say!
Marinette:I've never met someone
Who thinks so much like me!
Dick and Marinette: Jinx! Jinx again!
Our mental synchronization
Can have but one explanation
You
And I
Were
Just
Meant to be!
Marinette:Say goodbye
Dick:Say goodbye
Dick and Marinette:To the pain of the past
We don't have to feel it anymore!
Love is an open door!
Love is an open door!
Life can be so much more!
With you!
With you!
With you!
With you!
Love is an open door
Dick: Can I say something crazy?
Will you marry me?
Said Dick as he pulled out a engagement ring and kneeled down
Marinette:Can I say something even crazier? Yes!
Marinette gasped as she noticed that Dick had actually proposed. She squealed, saying yes as she let Dick slide the ring on her finger. Once Dick got up from the floor, he spun Marinette around and kissed her while his family watched in shock behind them. Alfred had had to close more than one mouth after they watched what happened.
Once they managed to recover, they congratulated Dick and Marinette on the engagement. Damian told Marinette to hurry and marry Dick so he stopped bothering them at the manor. Dick gasped and everyone else laughed at the statement.
Dick then pulled Damian into a hug while Damian threatened to stab him with his katana if he didn’t let him go. He did let him go only for Marinette to pull Damian into a hug.
Damian struggled for a bit but eventually gave up and accepted Marinette's hug. Dick offended, asked Damian why he let Marinette hug him and Damian said it was because Marinette gave better hugs. Everyone laughed at Dick once again.
They didn’t get to finish the movie before everyone was heading into bed to rest. Once Marinette and Dick got to their bedroom and put on pajamas they laid down and cuddled.
“Dick I can’t believe you proposed to me” whispered Marinette. “I just want to spend the rest of my life with the love of my life and that’s you Marinette” whispered Dick, fondly playing with her hair.
“I love you Dick.”
“I love you too Marinette.”
They would fall asleep cuddling with each other comfortably in the safety of each other’s arms.

Frozen 3: Melt (ACT 1: SCENES 7-9)
Scene 7
Elsa enters the castle courtyard and sees Anna, who is speaking to Mattias, his soldiers, as well as Kristoff, Sven, and Olaf. Anna seems to sense Elsa's presence because she turns to her with a huge smile.
“Elsa!” Anna rushes over to her sister, embracing her, as Kristoff, Sven, Olaf, and members of the castle trot up behind them.
“Elsaaaa!” Olaf body slams her in excitement. “Game night isn’t until next week! Why are you so early?” Obviously the snowman doesn't understand what's going on, or just hasn't been paying attention.
“I’m so glad you’re here but… how? How did you know?” Kristoff asks.
“Ahtohallan. I was in the glacier when... I suppose I felt that I needed to come. I can’t explain it, but it was like I was being pulled here.”
“Elsa, there’s something you need to know.” Anna grasps her sister’s hands. “Our dear friend Prince Hans -”
“Is here. I know. I saw him watching me.” Elsa doesn’t sound concerned. Confused, yes, but almost wistful.
Anna stammers. “Well, we’ve called the council, they’re gathering now. Hans reports that the Southern Isles are mounting an attack, planning to take the kingdom. I don’t know whether or not to listen to him after… literally everything he has ever done.”
“Lying to you? Faking his love for you? Leaving you to die? Attempting to decapitate Elsa? Having bad sideburns?” Olaf and Kristoff take turns roasting him.
Anna and Elsa are still holding each other, looking unamused. “Minus the sideburns, I don’t think that’s a technical crime,” Elsa jokes.
“Oh I think it is. A crime of fashion.” Olaf insists, little stick hands on his hips.
“So, how do we determine whether or not he’s telling the truth?” Anna asks as they walk through the palace to consult with the council, in the same room that Hans had sentenced Elsa to death in.
“Hans was there…” Elsa reveals.
“Hans was where? A pile of horse manure, among his own kind?” Kristoff scoffs.
Elsa waves Kristoff's quip away, focused. “No, he was in my dream… vision… memory... in Ahtohallan.”
Anna stops abruptly outside the council chamber. “What do you think that means?”
“All I know is that I sensed desperation. Not a greedy desperation… lonely.” Anna and Kristoff exchange glances. The three humans enter the room, Olaf and Sven outside the door. Olaf takes off his carrot nose and holds it to his ear, like he’s listening with it.
“Thank you for gathering so quickly,” Anna began as they all bowed to her. Mattias is there along with a couple of high-ranking soldiers. Anna takes a seat at the head of the table, Kristoff on her left and Elsa to her right.
“Do any of you have any intel on the Southern Isles as of late? Any small details that could point to hostility?”
There’s a long silence until one man stands. “My cousin is a blacksmith there, and we write to each other often. She said she’s been working to the point of exhaustion. They’ve upped their orders, though she didn’t specify on what. It was a short letter, which is unlike her. She’s working to the bone.”
“That’s something to consider, but not enough information,” Mattias declares.
“All I know is that you are in danger, Anna,” Elsa says softly.
“We do have an attempted murderer in the palace, so that’s to be expected,” Kristoff adds, clenching his jaw and holding Anna's hand.
“Do you trust me?” Elsa asks. Anna pauses for a moment, and takes a deep breath.
“Even when I don’t understand you, even when you make me angry… yes, I still trust you, Elsa.”
“Then let me talk to him. I’ll try to access his memories somehow…”
“Don’t you need water for that? Water is what holds memories, right?” Anna asks.
“Could you use his sweat like water?” Asks Mattias. Elsa and Anna grimace. “Sorry, just brainstorming.”
“We could make him, I don’t know, CRY, and use his tears,” Kristoff says.
“Tempting,” Anna admits.
“- but I don’t think that will be necessary,” Elsa says knowingly.
Scene 8
Hans sings a gut-wrenching, heartfelt song about growing up just a spare. Unwanted, unloved, willing to do anything to earn a place in his family, how his last chance was in marrying Anna or Elsa and becoming King. After that failure, he has no family. The song is very 2008/2009 emo. Like Brenden Urie would sing the heck out of it. There are tears running down his face when he finishes, and guards arrive outside his door.
Elsa enters the room, closes the door. She doesn’t speak, neither does he.
She doesn’t need guards. She calmly creates handcuffs of ice around Hans’ wrists and freezes his feet so he can’t run. He looks at her with fear and awe.
Scene 9
“Hans.” It’s all she says at first, before sitting next to him on the bed.
“Elsa, I would apologize but I realize that would be useless. So instead I beg that you listen to me.”
“Tell me why I should.” She crosses her arms and raises a brow.
“Because my brothers want to rule Arendelle, and I hate them. They made me into the person that I am.”
Elsa appears deep in thought. “So it’s their fault that you tried to kill Anna and me? It’s their fault you lied to my sister about loving her?” Elsa asks these questions calmly but firmly.
“No. That was all me. I acted at their behest but… it was all me. So now let me rectify it. If you don’t believe I’m doing this out of good will, that’s fine, it’s understandable. So believe me that I’m here to warn you of my brothers’ attack because I would love nothing more than to see them fail.”
Elsa considered for a moment.
“I believe you." Another pause. "I saw your memories.”
“You - you saw my what?” Hans shifts away, eyes wide. “You take up witchcraft in addition to your ice magic?”
Elsa half laughs. “No. My powers are more than I can explain right now. Believe me not because I’m trying to get a rise out of you, but because I… I felt the same pain once.”
“What pain?” Hans asks defensively.
“Loneliness. That feeling that it’s just you, in the middle of a blizzard that never ends, but at the same time a stillness, a silence, that blocks out all else.”
Hans looks at her, fascinated and sad.
“What… what did you see?” Elsa looks at his face and sees the streaks from his tears.
“May I?” she asks, reaching out.
“I’m your prisoner, so…yes?”
She touches his cheek and closes her eyes, he closes his, and a jolt seems to go through them both. When they open their eyes there is a frozen form of little Hans, around 6 years of age, reaching up to a gruff, well-dressed man.
“That’s… my father,” Hans whispers in amazement. He goes stiff. You can hear their voices echoing through the memory.
“Father, why won’t they talk to me? Why won’t they look at me? They act like I don’t exist!”
“That’s because you shouldn't, Hans! You’re a spare among spares. I’ve told you this. You weren’t supposed to be here. Yet here you are. Your mother gave her life to give you yours. You’re not even mine. You’re not truly a prince. Unless you earn our respect, you will never be one…”
A flurry of ice and snow shifts and we see a slightly older Hans, around age 12, working at the stables with Sitron as a foal. “Three, two, one!” His brothers sneak up behind him and push him into a cart of manure. Sitron whinnies angrily and tries to bite a couple of the brothers. “Whoa, pony boy, watch your pet, here!” They leave and Hans is still covered in crap, but Sitron comes over to nuzzle him.
Once more it shifts, and a figure of Hans as we saw him in the first movie stands before his brothers.
“It’s a small kingdom, but if you make it yours, you will be a king, and our brother. That’s what you want, yes?”
“What do you need me to do?”
“You’ve got it easy. All you have to do is marry one of the princesses. Elsa, preferably, but if you have to play the long game, the younger sister Anna will do. Now don’t let us down. You leave for the coronation in a week. Prepare yourself.”
Everything then whooshes away, the memories recede. Elsa and Hans sit in silence for a moment. Hans can’t look at her.
“Hans. Your brothers are attacking.” She believed him, felt his pain, and knew he wasn’t lying. “When are they going to arrive?”
“Tomorrow morning.”

April Contest Submission #15: Schrödinger’s break
Words: ca. 3,700 Setting: modern AU Lemon: no CW: wrong Witcher facts (sorry Yen!)
“What do you mean it doesn’t count?!” Anna could tell that her face was tomato-red, since she could feel the heat in her puffed-up cheeks.
“Well, they clearly were on a break, were they not?!” Elsa’s voice was positively dripping with restrained annoyance.
That was the difference between them - while Anna got heated up and was all fire, Elsa turned cold and icy. Anna hated that version of her sister. Ice queen, indeed. Yet with sick satisfaction, she noted that Elsa’s usually pale complexion also sported a hefty colour in her cheeks. She felt a flare in her throat and belly and, like an out-of-body experience, she couldn’t stop herself and this argument, and so pressed on:
“So you think cheating is okay then at the first sight of trouble - is that it?!”
“Well, how exactly is it cheating if they are not even together, Anna! Of course it’s scummy to-”
“So you think cheating is okay on a technicality? Wow, that’s very assuring, thanks a lot.” Anna huffed and crossed her arms indignantly. What does one even do with arms in situations like this?
“Why are you making this so personal - this is so stupid - I mean, how old is this show exactly now? 20 years?!” Elsa almost whispered to hopefully calm the situation down.
She was painfully aware of the people in the little cafe, giving them harsh side-looks and judging them quietly. Anna was immune to stuff like this, but Elsa felt their stares almost physically. And this was their usual cafe and go-to place on late-work mornings, which made it even worse.
Her fingers found the rounded edge of their table as she rubbed her thumb against it, until she finally found an imperfection that she could push her thumb in even harder.
The blonde side-glanced around them, not making any real eye contact yet trying to mentally ward off the surrounding people. Most of them quickly looked away as Elsa furiously glanced in their direction. She felt a headache coming on.
“So I’m stupid now for caring what my girlfriend thinks about cheating?”
“What, NO- how is that - I-I didn’t say anything like that!” Elsa’s fingers gripped the smooth wood of the table even harder; the pressure on her knuckles made her whole hand ache.
“Anna, let’s not do this right now” she tried to lower her voice even more, but could immediately tell by Anna’s face that it was a mistake. A big one.
“Yeah- okay, I get it. Let’s NOT do this!” The younger sister shuffled her phone back into her backpack, and yanked her haphazardly placed jacket hard from the chair at their table.
“Are you seriously storming out because of-“
“Yeah! Yeah, I am!” Anna roughly pushed her arms through the sleeves of her rain-jacket. Her braids were rabidly bobbing with every jerky action of the furious redhead. “Do you think I’m too stupid,” she angrily signed quotation marks at this “to not know how embarrassed you are right now?!”
Elsa couldn’t help but glance around them, to the other patrons of the cafe, as Anna practically yelled their grievances into the air.
“See!! You’re doing it right now! If I’m too embarrassing for you as it is, I’m going! So - have fun!”
Anna quickly slung her backpack on her shoulder, stomping out as quickly as she could and leaving a speechless Elsa at their table.
She didn’t dare to look around again, since it would have been pointless anyway. She could practically feel all of their stares like daggers.
She kept her eyes down on her now lukewarm chocolate and angrily blinked away the tears that threatened to fall. She stopped gripping the table to nurse her aching head with her fingers.
She always hated Ross.
***
“What crawled into your morning coffee and gave you the biggest resting bitch face I’ve ever seen? And that’s already accounting even your usual standards!”
Elsa pinched the bridge of her nose. She loved Meg, she really did. In fact, she was her favourite coworker in all of Arendelle Corp, but today she felt like she was not capable of the banter and dry wit this required.
“Meg, just leave her alone already! Can’t you see she’s struggling as it is?!” Raps piped up. Leave it to her PA to fend off the inquisitive brunette. But knowing her, it will do no good anyway.
“Hey blondie. I meant snowflake over there. Leave the talk to the grown-ups.” Meg countered with her usual dismissiveness.
“Oh stop it, you two! You’re giving me a bigger headache as is.” Elsa slapped her papers on her desk. When she looked up, she could practically see the concern in her friend’s eyes - a rare sign indeed, to see Meg so open about her emotions.
“I think someone needs a sugar fix - blondie, get your boss some hot chocolate… and make it extra sweet.” Meg sat on the edge of Elsa’s desk, looking over to the short-haired PA to gauge her reaction.
Rapunzel looked over her boss and saw the plea in her eyes, pleading for peace and not the usual shenanigans those two got up to. She sighed.
“Alright, I’m on my way.” She slowly packed her things up, made sure to turn down the volume of her little hot-pink Bluetooth speaker and took her purse with her.
When she quietly closed the door, Meg didn’t waste another second.
“Okay, so what’s wrong? You look like you’re… ” She briefly touched Elsa’s shoulder but didn’t leave it there. She knew her too well for that.
Elsa dropped her head into her hands and breathed in deeply.
“I had a huge fight with Anna this morning… and the worst part is I don’t even know for what and why? We started to talk about what we used to do as children-” she swallowed harshly because she knew she had to be careful.
The official story was that they were childhood friends. It was easy to change the general logistics of their meeting. But it was hard, in some specific cases, to veil how deep their connection was.
“-and we talked about Friends.” she concluded.
“Wait - the TV show?”
“Yeah, Friends.” Elsa clarified “So all of a sudden we get to the topic of Ross and Rachel’s break-up and it goes all downhill from there about cheating and about how I didn’t think he did-“
“You don’t?” Meg asked her surprised.
“No, I don’t. They were on a BREAK.” Elsa felt her cold anger gripping her again. It was so pointless and unnecessary - stupid Ross! - why did this keep happening?!
Meg’s laughter snapped her out of her thoughts.
“I’m sorry snowflake, but this has to be the cutest yet most idiotic lover’s quarrel I have ever heard in my whole life, so far.” Meg ran her fingers through her hair. “I know it’s rude to laugh… but Elsa. I mean.” She stopped there but let out another snort.
“I know, I .. it’s positively atrocious.” She breathed out her frustration. “I really don’t know what this means or what even caused this. Nothing has been out of the ordinary lately. At least I think so…?” She frantically started to question herself. Was she just not seeing it? Was she so inconsiderate and not noticed her sister’s pain or grievances of late? What if it wasn’t nothing and it turned out-
“And is she by any chance on her period or getting there?”
“Meg, that’s sexist!” Elsa said indignantly.
“Yeah, but it doesn’t make it untrue.” Meg shrugged “I always get bitchy around that time and boy, do I get all the feels when it happens.”
“You’re always bitchy.” Elsa deadpanned.
“I know. But you love me for it.” Meg nudged the blonde’s shoulder as another small snort escaped Elsa.
“So in any case” Meg soldiered on, “what’s the grand romantic gesture you planned to show your undying love now that it happened?”
“A… grand gesture?” Elsa didn’t like the sound of this. Not at all.
“Oh Elsa, Elsa… why are you so clueless about women when you are one yourself - of course grand gesture! Something that’s bigger than your fight, so as to leave that the only big impression of the day!” She side-glanced at Elsa, a mischievous grin on her lips.
“Get her something big or better: get some poor street performers and make them sing some positively sappy love-song or something while you stand in a sea of roses telling her how dumb you have been.”
“Well, that sounds totally feasible.” Elsa shook her head into her hand, cradling her chin as she stared into space. She never was someone to openly show her feelings… or her life to others. And the idea was simply ridiculous.
She startled as her PA quietly opened her door with one hand, the other cradling the promised hot chocolate and a paper bag with something positively lovely-smelling in it.
“I thought, what’s better than hot chocolate? A fresh chocolate croissant to it! So… double the fun?” Rapunzel smiled, all teeth, and it was hard to not feel her heart softening at that. She had it good here.
“Alright snowflake, enjoy your spoils and tell me your battle plan once you have it!”
Meg fished out one of her reports on Elsa’s desk - thank god it was already finished - and sauntered off without looking back.
Rapunzel placed her beverage and pastry bag on the very same spot Meg just sat on, and went back to her desk to turn up the volume on her little radio.
“Thanks Raps. You’re an angel.” Elsa smiled as she opened up the lid of her steaming hot chocolate, savouring the smell of the sweet concoction.
As Rapunzel laughed at that, she tugged her short hair back behind her ears “You tell Mr. Weselton that, when you have the chance.”
The radio tuned into an upbeat song they played at least 3 times in the span of a day. If Elsa recalled correctly, her PA told her they’re a Korean girl band and all the rage now. Pink something… hm.
“Say… how does that little speaker of yours work and where did you get it?”
***
Anna tugged on her new and tight yoga pants, trying to get the seam out of her crotch. To no avail. Typical.
“… at the same time there is a lightness; a sensation of floating. Feel both of these things at once. You feel the waves lapping at your feet. They beckon you to step closer. One step at a time, you feel the purifying power of the ocean. Its body envelopes you. Notice if your tongue is touching the roof of your mouth. Let your tongue soften down…”
Anna stood in the middle of the living room, the furniture haphazardly pushed against the walls.
The TV was still on and the PlayStation was still running, but at least it was muted. The Witcher was still standing in the maze, waiting for any input to further this party along. Amiss in between all those pompous Novigrad nobles and probably feeling kind of lost? …
Wasn’t he supposed to look for his missus? Jennifer… or something? It was already some time ago she played it last and had a hard time keeping it all straight.
But Anna tried to not think about this. About how this reminded her of Elsa. Elsa, who loves reading and who devoured the whole series in a matter of days. She just got the game to be able to talk to her about it - and it was really good, actually! She started with the third and last one, but she could piece things together with Elsa’s little anecdotes and the overall pointers in the story, but no - here she was. NOT thinking about it. No sirree!
“… it carries away your sorrows. It affirms the power within you. Life is good. Life is precious. Say it-”
“Say it.” Anna murmured and tried to concentrate on the voice again, pushing any thought of Jen or Elsa out of her mind.
“- out loud.”
“Out loud.” Anna’s voice rose with the last word.
“Life is peace.”
“Oh.” She opened her eyes. Now she felt silly.
With a deep breath, Anna closed them again and envisioned the waves lapping at her feet. Again and again. She pictured seagulls in the distance, imagined hearing their distinctive cry. They got closer. Their cries got shriller as the waves of the water, imaginatively yet unruly, lapped against her feet, quicker and quicker, with harsh -
“Fudge this!” Anna tugged on her braids as she groaned out loud.
Wasn’t meditation supposed to make her feel better? To forget and relax? What a mess she was still feeling. Still an undercurrent of anger and hurt, but mostly regret now. She could see how she took this way too far, how it tugged on her insecurities - mostly unfounded, she could admit! - of her constant abandonment issues, even if Elsa showed no indication of leaving her. Even if she could tell that, sometimes their .. unusual situation was still not sitting right with the older sibling at points. But mostly, it was good! Really.
Now all Elsa had to do was come back from work so they could talk it out, make up, and kiss it better…  So that was the plan. But it was already later than usual for her sister to return home. If only she could calm herself down enough to rationally and calmly talk through it so it wouldn’t even be a bigger mess than it was right now. What was the worst that could happen, right? No matter what, they still were family! At least that, even if -  Anna painfully tugged on her braids again.
She took a deep breath and tried to banish all feverish thoughts from her head. She listened to her breathing as it flowed in and out. She listened to the little specks of sounds coming from the window. She could almost make out a pattern as the little clanks came almost every three breaths.
- Wait, what?!
Anna hesitantly went over to the window; all the while the suspicious sounds didn’t cease to stop. Just as she reached it, she saw a tiny pebble hit the windowpane as it immediately dropped down again. Pushing the flimsy curtain aside, she looked down wearily. What kind of crazy - serial killer or stalker really- would do this?!
But what she found was her older sister flicking those pebbles up their window. Her cheeks were unusually flushed and Anna could see her breath escaping red lips in harsh puffs, curling in the cold air. Her golden hair was wind-whipped and some loose strands escaped and fluttered in the breeze. She’s never seen Elsa so…disheveled and radiant at the same time. She looked like a spirit stepped out of the night. Like a beautiful and elegant… wraith? Wait, was that even a thing?
As she fiddled with the old window lock, she watched as Elsa dropped all her stones on the ground as she frantically rummaged through her purse with one hand; the other one was clutching her phone tightly.
“Elsa?” Anna called out just as Elsa was straightening herself again, with one arm outstretched above her head with a small hot pink… device held high above her.
“Elsa - what.. ?”
“Anna! I-I’ve been so stupid,” Elsa cried out “it doesn’t matter that we don’t see eye to eye on everything or that we’re different - but whatever happens, I’ve always-” just then a guitar riff cut the blonde off as a familiar male voice started to sing
So no one told you life was gonna be this way
-Clap clap clap clap-
Your jobs a joke, you’re broke
Your love life’s DOA -
Anna couldn’t hold back the manic laughter that escaped her as she frantically tried to take everything in. Was this really happening?!
Her sister making a fool out of herself. In front of their window. In front of their neighbours. In front of everyone. And most importantly, in front of her! That was so not Elsa and yet here she was, doing this to make her laugh and to prove to her how much she means to her. She could feel tears prickling in her eyes even as she sported the biggest grin that she tried to hide behind her hands.
your week, your month
Or even your year but
“I’ll BE THERE FOR YOOOUU” Elsa belted as she stood there steadfast yet with the pink Bluetooth speaker slightly wobbling in her hand as she pushed through the strain in her left arm.
Elsa felt terrified about the whole spectacle, but her worries took a backseat as she saw Anna clearly laughing, her eyes shining with happiness. So - huge success! And worth everything ten times over.
(When the rain starts to pour)
“I’LL BE THERE FOR YOUU” Anna joined her this time even when her voice cracked a bit with emotion.
(Like I’ve been there before)
They both laughed out loud at themselves and couldn’t make it through the last chorus. Both their eyes were trained on just one another. Elsa’s heart felt full and like bursting in any second.
(‘Cause you’re there for me too)
The song came to its conclusion, yet Elsa was still standing there with her speaker held high. This time, Anna could tell the nervousness was replaced by elation and happiness, even through the awkward moment of silence that was now threatening to envelope them.
“Come up here already you sappy fool!”
Not a moment longer after the invitation, Elsa stuffed the speaker back into her purse and dashed to the front gate, avoiding to look into any windows as she did so.
She felt her thighs burn as she sprinted up the two flights of stairs in record speed to join her love.
She could hear the keys turning just on the last steps of the stairs, as the warm glow of their apartment illuminated the dark staircase. She looked up just as her sister stepped into the door frame. Anna was encompassed in the soft glow of the light that looked almost like a halo around the contours of her body. After this rough day, it truly seemed like a vision to Elsa.
“Anna, I’m so sorry-“
“Oh, Elsa. But stop. Just come to me already - please!” the redhead sniffed as she wiped her nose with her wrist.
Elsa practically flew into her arms. Her arms snaked around the scrawny shoulders as she pushed her head into the crook of her neck and breathed in deeply. She felt Anna trembling in her embrace, and she was glad to hear the snort of laughter through the tears as she did so.
“I love you so much, Anna. Let’s never do this again.” she breathed into her sister’s collarbone as she pushed her cheek further into the warm skin of Anna’s shoulders.
“It had a pretty remarkable end, if you ask me - so… I won’t make any promises” Anna left a wet kiss on her forehead as she rubbed the blonde’s back soothingly up and down. “But let’s go inside. I’m sure the neighbours are entertained enough for now.”
Elsa gently pushed Anna and herself inside as she closed the door behind her and double-locked the locks.
Once safe inside, she let herself rest against the locked door and let her fingers push against the sturdy wood as she did so.
Anna was taking her girlfriend in with a soft smile. She knew how much this took out of Elsa and what a big step this was for her to do. And she loved her even more for it. Anna watched her like a hawk as she pushed herself up to take off her boots and her coat and meticulously hung everything up in its space at their coat rack.
With patience never being her strong suit, Anna immediately bounced on her lover once she put everything away and pushed her back into the groaning door. Her lips sought out her sister’s as she pressed her harshly against it. Elsa frantically deepened the kiss, her cold hands holding Anna’s cheeks closely as her fingers stroked her temples. Anna felt breathless at the heat that threatened to engulf her, yet the cold and gentle fingers ground her to reality. She had to break the kiss for air but stayed close to Elsa’s lips, not being able to bear any distance between them right now.
“I love you so much, Elsa I…”
The smile the blonde gave her was a radiant one.
Elsa’s hand found its way around Anna’s hips, brushing the curve of them and enjoying the soft material. She kissed the freckles right beside Anna’s nose, one of her favourite spots in general. It always made Anna melt.
“You’re so sweet, my love.”
Her hands started to warm up, Anna could tell, as Elsa gently tugged on hers to lead her further into their apartment.
“What happened here?” Elsa’s eyebrows rose high as she saw the mess that was left in their living room. Anna felt Elsa’s hand gently squeeze hers.
“Well .. I thought I’d try to center myself with some meditation and some yoga or something.”
“Oh, now those pants make sense… though I wouldn’t mind any occasion, really.” Anna felt her cheeks flush as she saw her sister’s eyes roam over her. “They suit you, you know.”
Why was it that Elsa could make her feel just like a lovelorn teenager just in a matter of seconds, even when they were already together for years now.
“Oh, what’s this? You’re playing the Witcher?” the blonde studied the scene in front of her.
Gerald sitting patiently in a garden - in his finest clothes? Elsa tried to place the scene in her head, considering that Anna started almost at the very end - so very much like her, mused Elsa.
“Yeah, it makes me think of you so…” Anna rubbed her neck. “I’m just at this party with Triss and we just kissed and now-“
Elsa whipped her head around instantly with a sudden and dangerous glint in her eyes.
“You what?!”

Since Disney has no restraint with spoiling the deleted scenes for Frozen 2 that will be on the digital and/or blu-ray release later this month, I decided to share the clips that have been released so far and offer my opinions (click the scene names in bold to watch them):
Tumblr media
Deleted Song - I Want to Get This Right: I’m not big on Kristanna but this is a cute song. I can understand why it was cut though. As the creators have mentioned before, whenever they took too much focus away from Anna and Elsa’s relationship, it just didn’t feel right. They still wanted to give Kristoff a song, which they did with “Lost In the Woods,” but I’m not sure where this song would have occurred in the movie since it would have been weird for Anna to sing a long with him when she was so focused on Elsa once they left Arendelle. I’m guessing it would have taken place at the beginning of the movie, during the harvest festival perhaps since they both seemed dressed up.
Tumblr media
Deleted Song - Unmeltable Me: Another song that would have taken place at the beginning of the movie, with Olaf entertaining the dignitaries (at the harvest festival I assume) while Anna and Elsa are away. It’s a fun song and the accompanying animation would have been more amusing than “When I’m Older,” but like “I Want to Get This Right,” one of the reasons it was cut was due to time constraints on the pre-forest part of the movie. It was made to introduce Olaf’s new permafrost, which they eventually explained in one line from Anna before “Some Things Never Change.”
Tumblr media
Deleted Song - Home: A nice song that creates a pleasant tone of how much Anna loves Arendelle, which would help reinforce her becoming queen in the end. But yeah, just doesn't quite work - it's just weird that she would be out doing all these fun activities shown in the clip without Elsa, Kristoff, and/or Olaf with her. They definitely needed to introduce all the characters in the prologue, so a big group song like “Some Things Never Change” worked better. And people were complaining about her one line "it's not creepy 'cause I know her" since it implies that anyone who talks to children could be seen as a “pedophile.” I agree it didn't make sense - she's the princess, everyone knows her, why would it be creepy talking to one of her young subjects? I get the joke they were going for but it doesn’t work and I’m glad they eventually left it out.
Tumblr media
Deleted Scene - Secret Room: Early in development, the trigger for Anna and Elsa going to the forest was following clues that their parents left behind about studying magic so they could help Elsa. Again, due to time restrictions on the movie, they changed it to Elsa hearing her “magic side” calling to her and leading her to the forest. I think this set up is better since it gives more characterization to Agnarr and Iduna, especially in conjunction with the “A Place of Our Own” scene below, so it’s a shame the heads at Disney decided the movie couldn’t be longer so they could include this plot point (I feel like Jen and team would have wanted it otherwise).
Tumblr media
Deleted Scene - Hard Nokks: A scene where Anna, Kristoff, and Olaf meet Nokk, apparently before Elsa. I’m guessing this scene takes place soon after they arrive in the forest and they get separated from Elsa temporarily (since she’s not in this scene) and they somehow know what Nokk is (maybe Olaf had been reading up on mythology?) It’s a little funny I guess but I can definitely see why it was left out: they wanted Nokk’s introduction to be more dramatic, and the plot point of Kristoff not feeling comfortable in Arendelle was too much on top of his relationship with Anna that would, again, take away focus from Anna and Elsa’s journeys, which are the driving force of the movie.
Tumblr media
Deleted Scene - A Place of Our Own: Out of all the deleted scenes, I think everyone will agree that this one should have been left in. It’s so beautiful and heartfelt and lends so much more to their relationship with their parents and the fact that Anna has her own kind of “magic” - it would have worked perfectly as the last binding piece of closure to the conflict of the first Frozen. I can understand why they removed the other scenes since they didn't fit with the direction they eventually went with the story and characters, but this scene could have easily been inserted into the ending - when Anna and Elsa were reunited, before Kristoff shows up - and nothing would have changed. The only reasons I can think of for why they removed it are 1) they thought it was too “overpowered” for Elsa to be able to conjure memories from Ahtohallan anytime, anywhere. Even though the one about the dam she sent to Anna traveled past Ahtohallan, it still originated there and she had to first “take it in” and then send it to Anna with Gale’s help. Or 2) there was already so much going on in that scene (the sisters reuniting, Olaf reviving, Kristoff's proposal) that they felt adding one more emotional moment would have been overdoing it. I guess another reason is because they weren’t able to properly set up the fact that Anna had lingering doubts about her parents trust in her, but honestly anyone who knows what Anna went through in the first movie could see that scene and completely understand how she felt with any further exposition. So yeah, I can live without the others but this scene should have remained - I’m hoping we get something like it in future Frozen stories!
----
I think there’s one more deleted scene involving Agnarr’s flashback that will be on the blu-ray release, and all the ones mentioned in this post should have extended footage - I think these clips are just snippets of the actual deleted scenes we’ll get. To summarize, the only scenes I would have preferred they kept in were Secret Room (and the whole plot line about following clues from Iduna and Agnarr) and of course A Place of Our Own. The others are nice to see but I don’t miss them in the actual movie. I’m not one to lament everything we could have gotten as I’d rather find the good in what we do have - I’m glad we got to see these scenes and I think it’s likely that they’ll incorporate elements from them into future Frozen shorts/stories/sequels.

Iduna, Elsa, Anna, and the 4 spirits
After several days of contemplating the story line of Frozen 2, I think I finally get the whole story. Well… this is still categorize as theory though, but as always, I will share my thoughts here.
I think Iduna and Gale’s roles are very important as the base story for Frozen 2
And I’m amazed how the animators managed to portrayed the spirits as ‘human’ as possible, with their distinctive recognizable traits.
Spoiler… spoiler….
Iduna, as a Northruldan, seems have a very close relationship with Gale, the wind spirits. (Gale seems like the kinder, easy going and friendlier spirits, who also very agile, and loves to play). We can see how they played around in the past sequences. Gale even help Iduna saves a boy, who actually was the “enemy”, and pushed them to safety, out of the forest border (I think the ‘ah-ah-ah’ calling voice is how Iduna ‘talks’ to Gale). I believe, even tough Gale was also trapped inside the forest, being “a” wind, he (I assume the spirits are all a “he” for my convenient writing purposes, btw) able to check on Iduna from time to time. Thus he can sense that Iduna has 2 daughters, one of whom, possessed the special “keys”, to lift the curse, as a gift for the good Iduna has done in the past. Gale didn’t exactly know which of the two daughters has the power tough.
Now the movie itself didn’t show how Iduna and Agnarr met, but from the trailer, we did see that Gale seems also playing with Agnarr. I presume, from that brief interaction, Iduna could tell that Agnarr was different from his Father (more on the curious side, rather than on the fear side, when interact with magic), and Gale agreed with her. Now, for the sake of drama, what if Iduna was the daughter of the Northuldran leader that was killed by Agnarr’s father? This will emphasize Iduna’s good deed even more, IMO. I wished the movie would showed us a little more of Iduna and Agnarr encounter. Anyway, from those tiny tidbits we get from the movie, I could assume that Agnarr didn’t remember who his saviour was. And Iduna choose to keep silent and prefer to build their relationship the ‘slow burn’ way. And of course (for the sake of the story) at the end, Agnarr choose Iduna to be his queen.
That until the first Frozen incident, that make Elsa need to be isolated. As the mother, Iduna have always known that Elsa is special. And obviously it really pained her to see her eldest daughter “suffer” because of her power, instead of embracing it. But even though she’s a Northuldran, it didn’t make her understand what the spirit’s good deed right away. I even think that Iduna actually forgot and never thought of it. Until the night her husband decide to tell a story about an Enchanted Forest, and she was asked to sing an old lullaby, that the “eureka” come to her mind, The brief scene of memories at Athohallan, where Iduna finally want to confess something to Agnarr, which he reply with ‘I’m listening’, make me believe that it was Iduna’s idea for them to travel North, to find Athohallan, in order to understand Elsa’s power and what purpose it held, so that Elsa will not suffer anymore. Because I believe, deep down in her heart, Iduna knows that whatever power Elsa has, is for great and good purpose. And of course, as every mother in this world, she only want the best for the daughter, and if to understand the purpose of Elsa’s power she have to travel North and face danger itself, she will do it. As good husband, of course Agnarr won’t let his wife travel alone, and went with her.
Unfortunately, the Nokk didn’t feels them worthy to step foot at the Athohallan, and drowned them. (I see Nokk as the more powerful, strict, by the book, will perfectly do his job, as the guardian of Athohallan. Thus only they who managed to survive his brutal test are allowed to step foot at Athohallan). But, being the place for spirits, Iduna’s spirit managed to get there in a way. And she finally understand what Elsa’s power is needed. Then her spirit wait, and in one way, start to send ‘voice signal’ to call Elsa to go to Athohallan.
The message was never delivered though, as Athohallan was a mystical place. That is until, Elsa unleashed her power in large scale (the eternal winter, the “Let it go” sequence). Such enormous power can be sensed by the spirits. And Gale might be the one to take action. After all, I presume he can sense Iduna’s call (the very same, very familiar ‘ah-ah-ah’ call). And starting from the end of Frozen 1, in 3 years time, he keep pushing the call towards Arendelle, hoping it was heard by whomever the message was sent for. Somehow, I feel Gale did this behind other spirit’s back (particularly Nokk, whom I see as the “leader” and the most “strict” of them all).
Thus he always checks from time to time, whether someone answered Iduna’s call. Somehow he can senses Iduna’s daughter. And because Anna is portrayed to inherited more of Iduna’s trait, I think Gale assume Anna would be the one who answered the call. There’s a scene where a wind carries a maple leave tickles Anna’s shoulder, when she was walking towards Olaf. And then the wind also whirled around Olaf. I think, it’s Gale sensing the two daughters of Iduna. (With Olaf carrying Elsa’s ‘magic’ sense), And that he is expecting someone to react to the call.
And then, one night, finally Elsa answered the call, and activated the rune crystals (Into The Unknown sequence). This summoning of the runes outside of the enchanted forest, enraged the spirits, and they intent to find whomever responsible for conjuring the runes, outside of the forest, without full knowledge of how to respect/use the power of the runes. On the other hand, Gale sense this as the sign he was waiting for. And being the spirit himself, he actually knows what need to be done to repair the past mistakes (destroying of the dam), and what will be the consequences (destruction of Arendelle). Considering his friendship with Iduna, and that those people lived in Arendelle were her beloved subjects, he took action. Unlike other spirits who immediately retract their powers, Gale pushed all living being outside of Arendelle (we clearly see him pushing Sven out of his stall), towards the higher ground.
Somehow, I think the one Elsa sensed as good (”Whoever calling me was good. My magic can sense it”) was Gale that has been delivering Iduna’s call. Elsa’s magic could sense Gale, because it came from the same source. Much grander, and different kind than Grand Pabbie’s, which make him didn’t managed to decipher the signs, even from Frozen 1, despite his good intention. But Pabbie’s managed to understand how grand the scale is, which leads him to warn Anna.
Then the main cast embark to their journey, and arrive at the forest’s border. The barrier open upon Elsa’s touch, under the spirits’ command. I guess, the spirits’ want to know who dare to conjure the runes, at the same time curious as why the person outside of the forest managed to do so, at the same time they want to test whether the person worthy of such power. Because, they must already know about the ‘bridge’/ the fifth element, that was needed to repair the past.
The first spirit to greet the group is of course, Gale, who’s very excited to finally able to ‘meet’ Iduna’s daughters. He even pushed the group to walk faster, cause he can’t wait any longer to greet them. Upon viewing that there’re actually 5 of them, he’s confused to decide which one of them possess the ‘key’. We can see how curious he is, as he often come and go near the group. Gale is not alone at this time. Bruni is also shown to be very curious at this outsider who step foot in their forest (and of course the Northruldan also sneaking around them). For a moment, these spirits move around Olaf, cause he’s the one ‘radiating’ magical sense for being an animated snowman. (Yes, including Nokk. As stoic as he is, he can’t stop his curiosity to see who are these people. But when he was met face to face with Olaf, he’s so surprised that he neigh and fled XD)
At certain point, Gale became impatient, and decided to swoop them up in a tornado, making this his ‘trial’, to see who actually hold the special ‘key’. I can see that Gale meant no harm when swooping the group up. The branch that nearly hit Anna wasn’t meant to hurt her. And lucky for him, at this time Elsa’s react to protect her sister, and thus confirming that she’s the one Gale’s been searching for. Thus he ‘spat’ the other party, and start the real “trial” to see how strong Elsa is. While at the same time, he’s trying to give as many message as possible to Elsa, which leads to the making of ice statues. Gale redeem Elsa’s worthy immediately of course. She’s Iduna’s daughter after all :) We can see his friendly trait right after the ‘trial’ has finished. He prank Kristoff, Sven, and Olaf, did an extra prank for Anna (whom he see really looks like Iduna), and did tiny prank to Elsa (cause he respect her).
During this time, Bruni was watching from the side. Then the gang encounter the Northruldan, and explain to them.  He watched all the scene before him as quiet as possible. But then, Yelena said ‘We only will accept what the nature choose’. This clearly surprised him. (It’s kinda like “when you’re dozing off in class then suddenly the teacher point of you” kind of surprise) Thus his power blow out of control. Bruni panicking. And it cause the flame to grow even larger. I see Bruni as the ‘youngest’ of the spirit, and thus has less control of the flames, even more so when his emotion are not in control. Kinda like Elsa was in frozen 1.
Elsa senses this in away, and even though perhaps she thought this is the trial of the flame (which I think Bruni will said so if asked, so that he doesn’t look like he didn’t have full control of the flame), she accept the challenge, and put down the flames and even run after Bruni until he was trapped and has nowhere to go. But then, Bruni see that Elsa meant no harm, and in certain way, understand his current position (often misunderstood). And even further, Elsa’s the only one who could hold him (and her hand felt nice and cold). He befriend Elsa immediately. And so are the Northruldan.
During the camp, at night, we see how the Earth Giant came to the camp. From the conversation, this event is unusual. That’s because the Giant also sense Elsa’s power, and curious to see what cause the disturbances in the soil of Enchanted Forest. Somehow, I see the Giants as the slower type of spirit (slow in movement, and slow in deduction ability, just like the trait of earth). He’s slow in sensing Elsa’s power entering the forest, and slow in reacting to it, and couldn’t care less when at the end he didn’t managed to find the source, that they went off just like that.
The sisters saw this from different perspective, and decided that to not endangered the Northruldans, they decide to continue their journey right away. Lead by Bruni and Gale. Gale then showed the sister, the wreck of their parent’s ship. And by Elsa’s power, they finally know what happened to their parents, albeit a very horrifying truth that is. This leads Elsa to go and challenged Nokk by herself, and pushed Anna to ‘safety’.
The Nokk trial is, IMO, the most difficult and brutal trial Elsa have to conquer. Afterall, he’s a perfectionist, and very confident in his prowess, that he even ‘look down’ towards Elsa.
Tumblr media
Never before we saw a ‘princess’ being drowned, thrown, splashed by giant waves, and dragged around under the sea, like Elsa before. And I love how badass Elsa was portrayed in this scene. (Apparently this scene already thought from the very beginning by the story creator, and what shaped the whole movie story. Amazing!). And when Elsa managed to tame the Nokk, is the moment that Nokk acknowledge her power, and thus pledge his loyalty to serve Elsa in fulfilling her destiny, and keeps her safe. After the trial, Nokk accompanies Elsa and help her reach the Athohallan, bow, and wait for her. (Horse is a very loyal animal after all). When Elsa’s thawed and thrown to the sea, he immediately took action and took Elsa to safety. This picture really shows Nokk loyalty towards Elsa (he deliberately keep Elsa’s face above water, so she wouldn’t get drown. But unfortunatelly this concept art didn’t make it to the movie). And then Nokk gives all his power to take Elsa to Arendelle as fast as he can, so that Elsa could stop the tidal wave. This Nokk development is my favorite :D
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Anna’s encounter with the Giants make her the ‘conqueror’ of the earth element. After standing up from her grief (which is my favorite Anna moment in the whole movie, that make me really proud of her), she took action by ‘manipulating’ the Giants to fulfill her goal. Now the Giant’s reaction is interesting to see. At first noticing Anna, his reaction was like “oh, so this is the one disturbing the peace! Get out! Get out!!”. Thus the Giants chase Anna (and Kristoff and Sven) around, throwing boulders. They even target Anna when she was standing at the dam. But noticed that the moment they understand what Anna make them do, and see that they nearly put Anna’s life in danger, they stop. Being one of the spirit, they must’ve known that the dam need to be destroyed, to restore peace and fixed the past. They really stop mid-throwing. And the look at their faces, it’s like “Oh…. ooohh… so that’s what you’re trying to do…. Oops… didn’t meant to hurt you”. (Like I said, they’re slow ^^;). And by the end of the movie, when Anna reunited with Elsa, we saw the giant standing there with his ‘guilty’ face, bowing towards the sisters, as if saying “Sorry……” (Awww…..)
I love how subtle the connection between Iduna’s past, the sisters bond, Elsa’s power, and the characterization of the nature’s spirits being portrayed in this Frozen 2. Even tough I need more time to contemplate this connections (and certainly the younger kids wouldn’t be able to grasp yet), which make Frozen 2 “harder to chew”, this make me love the movie even more. I think I’ll watch it again in the cinema XD.
anyway, if you managed to come to this end, Thank you for reading my super hella long theory. Sorry for grammar mistakes. I hope you understand what I’m trying to say, and hope to hear more from you and all Frozen fans out there :)

day 10 - trees
The snow had fallen overnight, quiet and heavy, and as soon as Crockett saw it, he started making plans for the day ahead. It had been two days since Lolly’s birthday, which meant the Christmas decorations were going up all over the palace, and Ava and Sarah had given him specific instructions the night before - don’t let Lolly get in the way of anything. He’d spent the night stressing over it, wondering how he was going to keep the three year old princess entertained when she’d want to be helping with the decorations, but the snow made everything easier.
There had been some a few weeks back, and Lolly had practically dragged Crockett out into the palace grounds every single day so they could play in it, but it wasn’t long before the country had a milder spell, and all the snow melted. But this looked like it was here to stay, hopefully until Christmas, and Crockett knew it would be enough to distract Lolly from what was going on inside.
Sarah got Lolly dressed so Crockett had time to get himself ready, then he took her to the other wing of the palace for breakfast. He talked to her the whole way there, encouraging her to look out of the windows at the snow in the gardens below, and telling her about how they were going to build a whole army of snowmen to protect the kingdom, just like he protected her. She was so excited she barely chewed her breakfast, and instead wolfed it down in record time so they could go and play as soon as possible.
She was almost vibrating as Crockett bundled her up in her little duffel coat and fur-lined boots, impatient to get outside and unsure why he was wasting all this precious time that should be spent playing. As soon as he was finished, she set off down the hallway, stopping only when they got to Crockett’s room so he could retrieve his coat. It was a woollen one, deep red and identical to the ones the other guards wore, and it was perfect for icy weather like this.
A guard was stationed at the door to the gardens, and he attempted a bow as Lolly rushed past him, nothing more than a blur of dark blue against the bright white ground outside. Crockett managed a nod and a smile before hurrying after the toddler, worried that she’d slip and hurt herself, as she was prone to with her poor coordination.
He found her by the pond just a few feet from the door, staring at the fish as they swam under the ice.
“Look!” She pointed at one particularly large orange fish, holding her hand out until Crockett came over and joined her.
“You think he likes the cold as much as you do?”
She grinned at him and shook her head, then reached for his hand. “Elsa?”
“Do you wanna build a snowman?” He tried the sing-song voice that she liked, and it was enough to have her hands flapping in front of her, her grin even wider than a moment ago.
She found it easier to communicate through quotes from her favourite movies, and at the moment that was anything Disney. She had a whole set of sayings that she used the most, which Crockett had quickly got used to, and some of the less common ones were easy to work out. Frozen was her all-time favourite, and Crockett had seen it enough times to recognise the intonations of young Anna’s voice.
He took her hand and led her down the stone steps to the lawn, where there was plenty of open space to build as many snowmen as she liked.
They started off with a big one, higher than Crockett’s waist, then as promised, made an army of smaller ones around it. After about ten minutes, one of the scullery maids came out with two baskets - one filled with carrots, and the other with coal - to make the snowmen’s faces.
Lolly giggled with delight when she saw them, and as soon as they were on the ground, rushed over and grabbed as many carrots as she could carry. She held them against her chest as she walked back to the ever-growing group of snowmen, and with as much grace as a three-year-old could manage, gave each snowman his own nose.
After an hour, they had well over two dozen snowmen, and Lolly was starting to get tired. She insisted on making one more before they went back inside, then followed Crockett back up the steps and into the warmth of the palace.
He helped her out of her boots, not wanting to tread damp footprints all the way to her bedroom, and as they made their way down each long corridor, they caught sight of multiple decorators, hanging garlands and wreaths and fixing brand new flower arrangements.
It all looked so beautiful already, and despite her tiredness, Lolly was transfixed. She kept running over to grab at the baubles hanging off the garlands, and Crockett was sure he felt his heart stop when she managed to pull one off.
They made it to her bedroom with no more bauble casualties, and the two played with her new doll’s house while they waited for one of the butlers to bring their lunch up. She almost never ate lunch in the dining hall unless it was a special occasion, which meant he didn’t either, so the two of them were free to eat where they pleased.
It was a simple meal - a grilled cheese for Lolly, and a bowl of pasta for Crockett - and by the time they were done, she seemed to have her energy back, enough to want to go wandering around the palace again. She had something in mind, Crockett could tell, and he knew there was no way he’d be able to distract her, not when she was already this determined.
He allowed her to lead him out of the room, and it was only after a few minutes that he realised where she was taking him.
The Great Hall was always decorated far more excessively than the rest of the palace, and although he wasn’t sure how much she remembered from the previous Christmas, it was obvious that she knew something special would be happening there.
And she was right. The first thing they noticed when they arrived was the tree that had been put up in the middle of the room. It was taller than its predecessors, and in the process of being decorated to fit with the same red and gold colour scheme that was used everywhere else. All Lolly could do was stand and stare at it in awe, until Crockett managed to convince her leave with him because they were getting in the way.
That wasn’t entirely true - the room was big enough that two extra people wouldn’t be noticed - but he didn’t want to run the risk of her knocking something over or causing problems. He gently took her hand and led her back the way they came, hesitating slightly when she stopped outside Sarah’s study. He couldn’t blame her for wanting to see her mom, but he also knew that she wasn’t supposed to go in the study during the day.
The decision was made for him though, because without warning, Lolly ripped her hand away from his and pushed the door open, eager to see what her mom was doing.
Sarah and Ava were standing there, both in their formal dresses and giggling into glasses of champagne. There was another tree in here, smaller than the one in the Great Hall, but still striking nonetheless, and the two of them seemed to be in the middle of decorating it themselves.
They turned around when they heard the door open, and both of their faces lit up when they saw Lolly there. Ava set down her glass, then opened her arms for the little princess.
“What have you been up to this morning, angel?” Lolly was comfortably resting on Ava’s hip, squirming and laughing as her mom peppered her face with kisses.
“Olaf!” She turned as much as she could to point at where Crockett was still standing in the doorway, unsure if he was allowed in or not.
“We built snowmen on the lawn,” he explained with a smile.
“Oh, that sounds like it was really fun! You’ll have to show us later, yeah?” Sarah had joined her wife and daughter, and was gently stroking Lolly’s face with the back of one of her fingers.
The three of them stood in silence for a few moments, simply enjoying each other’s presence. They didn’t get many moments like this, especially not during the day when Ava and Sarah were so busy, so it was nice for them to just be together.
“Look!” Lolly was the first one to say something, and as she spoke, she held her hand up so her moms could see what she was holding.
It was the bauble she’d taken earlier, her little fist wrapped tightly around the ribbon so she wouldn’t drop it, and she was grinning from ear to ear, proud of her find. She shook it a little, watching the light reflect off its shiny surface, and Sarah felt her heart swell with love at the sight of it.
“Do you want to go put it on the tree for us? I think it would look so much better with your special decoration!”
Lolly nodded, and Ava carried her over to the tree. They looked together for the perfect space for it, and once Lolly was satisfied that they’d found somewhere, she hung it up without help from either of her moms.
She clapped her hands once she was done, then relaxed back against Ava, her cheek pressed against the soft fabric of her mom’s dress and her curls fanned out all over Ava’s shoulder.
This was a special moment for them, not because it was a particularly big occasion, but because Lolly was the baby they thought they’d never be able to have. She was everything to Ava and Sarah, and even the little things like watching her decorate a tree meant the world to them, because they’d never been sure if this was something they’d get to experience.
She was their miracle baby, and every day was better with her in it.

All I Really Want Chapter 7
Rating: M
Pairing: Kristanna eventuallyyy
Verse: 90s High School AU / frozen retelling
Chapter Summary: Anna celebrates her 15th birthday.
Notes: Thank you for reading!!! Also there is some language, underage drinking, and homophobia in this chapter - be warned! (also tw emotional abuse)
Read on Ao3 here!
June twenty-fucking-first.
Another year. Fifteen, now.
And… Anna was excited, objectively, sure. At her very core, she felt excited because she knew she should be excited. But still, the very nature of this date always left her with a huge pit in her stomach.
There was just so much pressure. So much hope and want and desire for the love she craved to fill her first moments of fifteen.
Anna used to think she loved her birthday. The attention… the entire day naturally being about her—like, she knew she was supposed to enjoy it. She loved attention. She’d never deny that.
But…
In reality, her birthday stressed her out. There were all these expectations. Wanting people to acknowledge her, surprise her, and do all these special things to show they care. And yeah, this was probably way too much to ask on her 15th birthday but she wanted to feel … desired.
And yet she worried that wouldn’t happen this year.
Because her birthday was and had always been so full of disappointment.
Elsa forgot. Her parents forgot. Over the years one or two or all three of them forgot. They would ignore her the whole dumb day and then Anna would end up sobbing alone in her huge stupid room that had no reason to be so huge when it felt so lonely.
So far today, not one member of her family had acknowledged her. Her mother was definitely taking a nap or something. Who the hell knew where her dad was… and Elsa hadn’t called (yet, Anna thought, maybe too optimistically), but she was busy at this pre-college academic program at Pomona. So she had an okay excuse.
At least this year Anna got to spend her birthday with Hans. With Hans, maybe it’d be different. He already made the prom milestone so special that she had no doubt he’d do the same for her birthday.
No disappointments this year. Fingers crossed.
And how could she forget? She had Kristoff, too. And Kristoff never forgot. Kristoff always tried his best to make it special.
In fact, he’d already done something for her—he’d left her a card and a mixtape. This had to be her 37th Kristoff Bjorgman mixtape. And every new tape was better than the last.
He... well, um—that gesture alone made her feel desired.
She was officially on her third listen of the mixtape, and the sweet sweet tunes of Modest Mouse’s Dramamine filled her room.
In the past, he tended to include recordings of Pissed Off Kids, but Kristoff had made it extra special this time—the final song of the tape was instead a solo of Kristoff’s smooth tenor singing Better Man by Pearl Jam. Naturally he also hit all of the epic guitar riffs.
Anna loved it.
This lovely thought paired with the swelling sounds of Dramamine put her in a trance. Deep in her emotions, Anna swayed to the beat, instantly craving something more.
Traveling swallowing Dramamine
Look at your face like you're killed in a dream
She crawled on the floor and under her bed, pulling out a blue plastic box that housed her entire stash. The stash was once discovered by the family’s housekeeper, Anna (pronounced A-nuh not Ah-nuh), who subsequently revealed it to Agnarr and Iduna. Obviously, they did nothing about it. Duh. They gave zero shits. Zero. And it had devastated her, somehow. To not be yelled at or grounded… to not have her entire stash confiscated.
And you think you've figured out everything
I think I know my geography pretty damn well
Clearly, Anna had no reason to hide it anymore but leaving it out in the open took most of the fun away. So here it was back in the blue plastic box under her bed. Various bottles of alcohol, rolling paper, a pipe, a lighter, some weed, and an unopened bottle of Xanax with Iduna Larsen’s name on the label.
You say what you need so you'll get more
If you could just milk it for everything
Actually, come to think of it—Anna’s entire stash had been collected from her parent’s room.
I've said what I said, and you know what I mean
But I can't still focus on anything
Looking squarely at the box and its contents, Anna bit her lip. She needed this. And, why? Well, it was a combination of her baseline birthday nerves and the aftermath of the intense sob-fest she had when the oh-so-topical So Unsexy by Alanis Morrissette played on Kristoff’s mixtape. Oh, and of course the fact that her parents probably fucking forgot her birthday yet again… So, she took out the rolling paper and the Ziploc baggie that contained a few grams of weed.
Then, some weird crashing sound echoed from her window, which made her gasp and spook slightly.
Walking over to the window, drawing the curtains, and emerging onto her Juliet balcony, she noticed Hans and his goofy grin, standing in the driveway like he was a regular John Cusack.
When she saw that he had a bunch of tiny pebbles in his hand, it all made sense.
Anna’s heart fluttered. She loved it. She, like, literally loved it. So romantic.
“Can I come up?” He shouted, and Anna blushed. She was basically real-life Juliet at this point.
“Of course!” Anna called, and Hans started off in a sprint toward the rose trellis that led up the side of the house and into her window. “You don’t have to sneak in, you know!”
But he smiled devilishly and yelled, “I want to!”
Anna laughed and rolled her eyes at his definitely not-necessary efforts, but her stomach also did a few backflips. It was literally 500 times more romantic for him to climb up the trellis than it was for him to simply walk through the unlocked front door.
He pulled himself onto the balcony and Anna kissed him deeply. She couldn’t help but sigh—she was so, unbelievably happy to see him today.
“Happy birthday, babe,” he cooed in between kisses.
“Aww, thank you! I’m so happy you’re here.” After kissing a few more times, they ended up back in her bedroom where Kristoff’s singing now boomed through the room. Anna’s eyes fell to the blue plastic box—right. She had plans. “I was gonna do a little something to, uh, match the general vibe of this mixtape Kristoff made for me if you maybe wanted to join?” Anna gestured to the rolling paper and Ziploc bag.
Hans shook his head but then did a double-take. “Kristoff made you a mixtape?”
“Yep! He’s made me, like, tons of them.”
She lies and says she's in love with him, can't find a better man.
“Who’s this? Pearl Jam or some shit?”
“Yeah, but not—"
“Damn, he really thinks he’s emo, huh?”
“—because it’s Kristoff who’s singing. Pearl Jam cover, yeah, but…”
She dreams in color, she dreams in red, can't find a better man.
Hans laughed, heartily. “He’s pathetic.”
…huh?
“What?”
“You’re telling me he specifically chose this song to sing for you, recorded it, and then actually had the balls to give it to you?”
“Uh-huh.”
Another robust chuckle from Hans.
Anna furrowed her eyebrows. “What’s the big deal?”
“Are you even listening to these lyrics?”
“Um, yes, I—"
Hans laughed again. “You have no idea, do you?”
Anna pouted. She hated feeling naïve. Especially now that she was such a woman. Fifteen and a woman. Not naïve, not anywhere near naïve.
“No, I ... I know. Duh. I totally know what you’re talking about.” But she really didn’t. She had no idea what the hell he meant.
“So fucking pathetic,” Hans said, shaking his head. “But whatever. He’s not even a little bit threatening, is he?”
Threatening?
Oh.
Ohohohoh.
Hans thought… no way.
Kristoff wasn’t pathetic. He wasn’t pining after Anna or whatever. No duh he wasn’t. Absolutely no way.
They were just friends.
And, besides, Kristoff chose these songs because he knew Anna would like them. There was no connection between the themes or lyrics of the songs and how he felt about Anna. None at all… there couldn’t be a connection, because if there were, then… the whole sister thing was bullshit. But it wasn’t. No way in hell. Like, it couldn’t be.
Then why was Hans so convinced?
Before Anna could give this another thought, her bedroom door flew open.
She reflexively ran to the plastic box stash and kicked it back under her bed. For no real reason beyond wanting to keep some kind of classic-teenage air of mystery about herself.
Not that she had any earthly idea who the hell was coming barging into her room on this particular day at this particular hour.
But then when she saw the hint of blonde hair zooming past her and then engulfing her in a huge hug, she beamed. Elsa. Exactly who she wanted to come barging into her room.
“Anna!” She exclaimed as she hugged and hugged and hugged her sister. “Happy happy happy birthday! Fifteen—wow. I’m absolutely thrilled that I get to celebrate with you today.”
Anna didn’t want to pull away. So she didn’t. She held on tighter, savoring this moment she thought would never in a million years come to pass. “I’m really happy too, Els. I thought… weren’t you at school? How’d you even get here?”
“Mom and dad picked me up.”
“…really?”
“Uh-huh.”
“Why?”
“So I could be here for your birthday.”
“They should really just get you a car or something so they don’t have—” And then the pin dropped. “Wait, what?”
Anna finally pulled away from her sister and stared at her incredulously.
“Yeah—they picked me up so we could have a proper celebration.”
“But…wait. You’re saying…a proper celebration for… for my birthday? Our parents wanted to do this? For me?”
“At Hans’s insistence, actually.”
“Hans?” Anna’s eyes darted to her not-boyfriend. “You… did this?”
“Only took a couple phone calls with your parents, a few with Elsa. And then magic was made.”
“I can’t believe you did this for me.”
“Of course I did, babe. I love you.”
Anna’s heart fluttered the most it had ever fluttered. It fluttered so much she honestly worried it might fly away out of her chest and off the balcony or something totally wild like that.
Hans was perfect. She was so lucky to have Hans. The perfect not-boyfriend who made her birthday okay again. More than okay, rather. Magical, wonderful. Perfect.
She didn’t even notice as Kristoff’s next selection, All Over You, started playing in the background.
And then the door swung open again and the two essential strangers she called parents walked in to also swarm Anna with massive hugs.
It felt… strange. Uncharacteristic. Almost like… almost like seeing a teacher at the movie theater, sitting down to watch the same movie you’re seeing with friends.
That level of weird.
But at the same time, it was a type of weird that Anna embraced more than anything else.
Because her parents were hugging her… they were acknowledging her.
They hadn’t forgotten her birthday.
“I rented us a Duffy boat for the afternoon,” Agnarr explained. “Kai set it all up for us—stocked with the best Cristal and naturally Anna’s favorite charcuterie board.”
“Ooh cured meats. A birthday delight.” Shit Anna had no idea how to interact with her parents anymore. Who even was this person—cured meats? Like yeah, she loved cured meats of course but damn this felt awkward.
“Actually, we should consider heading out soon. Don’t want to find ourselves on the blacklist at the Yacht Club, you know.”
That may sound like a joke but their close family friends actually did get blacklisted from the Yacht Club. Well, it had much more to do with some kind of scandalous drug and prostitute type situation than it did with being late, but… the fear was there.
“Should we bring your stereo?”
“Oh, yeah! Yes. Great idea. Kristoff actually made me a mixtape for my birthday, so—yeah. I’d love to have that along for the celebration too!”
They brought the speaker. They brought the Cristal and the charcuterie. Anna brought her now sunny and enthused birthday disposition.
Her family. And Hans. All together. Right now. On her birthday. Like, shit.
It felt like something out of her absolute favorite dream of all time.
And, yes, this whole Duffy boat thing was the most freaking Orange County plan of all time. But that meant her dad had to have planned ahead, since Duffy boats booked up ahead of time.
She felt so loved. So loved.
Once they arranged themselves in the boat, Anna turned on the stereo. So Unsexy played again, but Alanis didn’t get to her this time. Nobody had forgotten her birthday. She wasn’t alone. She felt, like, confident for once… damn. This was nice.
Hans moved to sit next to Agnarr, looking for a lesson about driving the boat, and Iduna sat close to the two of them, smiling. It was a Good Day. Anna could already tell.
“Aww, Alanis?” Elsa asked.
“Yeah!”
“Wouldn’t’ve expected Kristoff to put this on his mixtape.”
“Well, I mean, it’s because of you.”
“What? Really?
“Mmhmm. Because he, um, he knows how much Alanis means to you and because Alanis means so much to you she means so much to me. I really—”
“That’s so sweet.”
“You mean it?”
“Yeah.” Elsa leaned in to give her sister a huge hug. “I’m happy I get to spend more time with you.”
Anna relaxed into Elsa’s hold. She would thank the stars every day for this magnificent change. “Me, too.”
“Did you know the song You Oughta Know is about Uncle Joey?”
“Shut up. Really? For real?”
“For real for real.”
“No shit,” Anna laughed. “I didn’t think he had it in him.”
“Yeah!” Hans chimed in. “No pull for Uncle Joey.”
“But, wow, yeah. Um,” Anna’s cheeks flushed red and she locked her eyes with Hans. “Guess he must’ve been pretty mind-blowing in bed.”
Hans winked at her and Anna all but shivered on the spot. Hold it together, Anna. Hold it together.
But Elsa entertained them zero, shaking her head. “He took advantage of her,” Elsa explained, crossing her arms over her chest. “He’s fifteen years older than her. And they’d already broken up when she was 21, so who knows how old she was when they started…”
Anna bit her lip, worrying this was getting a little personal. Hans was only two years older than her, so. Different story, right?
Eh. Maybe not according to Elsa.
She needed to change the subject and impulsively blurted out, “I wanna get blackout. Right now.”
Elsa shook her head again. “Anna…”
“Yeah! I mean it! You too, right? You’ll do it with me? Let’s blackout on this Cristal. Yeah?”
“I don’t think that’s a good idea…”
“Oh, come on. Ms. Boring! I didn’t ask for your judgmental-as-shit opinion. Do you wanna blackout or do you wanna blackout?”
“Uh—neither?”
Anna pouted. “Boo. Boring.” She looked to Hans for more support, but he’d turned his attention back to Agnarr and the steering wheel.
“I’ll drink with you, but I don’t want to blackout. I wanna remember you turning 15.”
Anna chewed on her bottom lip. “Oh… yeah. Well, I guess I do too. Since it’s so great and all.”
“I’m not boring,” Elsa smirked.
“Prove it.”
Elsa grabbed the bottle of champagne and twisted the cap a little hesitantly but still enthusiastically. It made a loud popping sound and a little bit of the liquid spilled from the top, but both Anna and Elsa cheered when the champagne was deemed officially free.
Elsa poured them both tall glasses, and then she poured three more, remembering there were other people on this Duffy Boat and not just the two sisters.
All five raised their glasses.
To Anna. Who was now officially fifteen. Old enough to legally drink Cristal on a Duffy Boat, right? Totally.
And then Agnarr perked up, suddenly remembering his eldest daughter was also on this boat. “So, Elsa… can you tell me again why you chose Pomona over Harvard?” The way he said both school names made it more than clear how he felt about Elsa’s decision. Pomona sounded like he smelled the sweet stench of vomit infested garbage. In contrast, Harvard sounded like a choir of angels sang at the gates of heaven.
“I needed a change of pace.”
Agnarr laughed. A literally massive guffaw. “Harvard could’ve been a change of pace.”
“I don’t really—”
“But, at the end of the day, fine, you’re majoring in what—finance? Which means that your classes at this bullshit liberal arts doohickey will be miniscule. And you’ll get more time with the professors, get better letters of rec, and then end up at the Stanford GSB like your old man. That’ll really seal that fucking deal, you know? You’ll be in tip-top shape to take over The Company. Harvard or not.”
“I’m not gonna major in finance, dad.”
“Oh? So what’s the plan, then?”
“I don’t know. I like Anthropology, or maybe something like PoliSci?”
“Politics? Really?”
“Yeah,” Elsa said, her jaw clenched. “I’d love to clean up some of the damage you’ve done to this country.”
A tense silence filled the air. Elsa crossed her arms over her chest and took a nice long sip of champagne.
Until Iduna piped up, “Well, if you want my opinion—”
“I don—" Elsa started.
“—a pretty young thing like you can’t work around Bill right now.”
Agnarr guffawed again. Profoundly. He raised his glass and cheered, “Oh ho ho!” Like he won some kind of stupid battle he wasn’t even in.
Anna was utterly lost. She’d already downed one whole glass of Cristal and poured herself an entire new one without anybody noticing. Hah. Classic.
She didn’t really want to admit she was, like, this stupid or politically unaware or whatever but she also wanted to feel like part of the conversation, so she said, “Wait, what? Has something happened?”
Hans gave Anna the benefit of the doubt. “Nah, but he’s known for being a pussy hound.”
“Okay! Enough! That’s not why I said I wanted to major in PoliSci. We don’t need to get into—"
“No, no, no. This is important, Elsa. You better watch out,” Agnarr said, ignoring her plea entirely. “Listen, I don’t know how a man like Bill gets it up for a woman like Hillary. She looks like such a dyke. Not that I respect the bastard that much, but he could have any broad he wants. Any broad like you.”
“No—” Elsa raised her voice, but Iduna chuckled.
“Since she’s got my cheekbones!”
Elsa’s entire face had turned a cherry red. She was mad. Fuming, really. “—you can’t say that.”
“I can say whatever the hell I want.”
“You can’t say that,” she repeated.
“Why not? You think you’re some holier-than-thou judge of character?”
Elsa’s jaw was still insatiably clenched. “I want to go home.”
“Els?” Anna reached out her hand to touch Elsa’s shoulder in a way she hoped brought at least a marginal amount of comfort.
“Seriously,” Elsa begged, her eyes glistening with what looked like fresh tears. “Can we turn this boat around? Please?”
A lump formed in Anna’s throat and she swallowed it down. She didn’t want today to end like this, so she tried to redirect. “Um… but—we’re having fun, aren’t we? You… how about we drink more champagne?”
Anna knew Elsa was mad. She knew that their parents had upset her beyond belief, but this was the only time she’d spent with all of them in the same place in… literally forever. She didn’t want it to end prematurely. No matter how mad Elsa was. Besides, Anna had been there, too. She’d been on the receiving end of comments like that countless times.
It stung, sure. But it wasn’t unexpected. That was just what happened when you spent time with Agnarr and Iduna. They were like parasites.
But the kind of parasite Anna still yearned to have in her life… if that made any sense at all?
Thankfully Elsa seemed to snap out of it a bit and turned back to Anna. “I’m sorry, yeah. You’re right. I…” She added in a whisper, “I shouldn’t let them get to me.”
“Yeah—no. Never!” Anna beamed. Crisis averted. “Drink more!”
Elsa took one big gulp of the champagne. “Maybe now’s as good a time as any. Um… I have something for you.”
“Oooh for me?!” Anna squealed when Elsa pulled out an envelope from her back pocket.
“Open it.”
It was the cutest handmade card ever. What Anna recognized instantly as something they would exchange as kids. Classic white printer paper, cut out into the shape of an A. And inside was the sweetest note of all time. Not long. Never long. Elsa wasn’t the most feelings-y. Or not so much that she wasn’t feelings-y, but she didn’t really have a knack for expressing all of the feelings that brewed deep inside her soul.
Inside this note of absolutely wonderfully sweet words was the fact that Elsa had decided to get her the most fun gift of all time—a night at the local roller rink. A disco roller rink night, too, which sounded five hundred million times more fun than any old roller rink night.
So, Anna squealed again. “Oh my God! Elsa! This sounds so, so, so fun! I’m so excited I can’t wait I’m, like, literally the most excited ever for real I’m, like, oh snap I’m rambling but that just means you know how excited I am!”
“I thought you’d like it.”
“Like it? I love it!”
“You can choose whenever you want to go. I can find a way to get here.”
“Okay! I can’t wait!”
Anna had always considered herself forever an experience over a material present person. And an experience present from Elsa of all people only made it all the more special. Quality time with her sister. Shit, she was so excited.
Honestly, ‘so excited’ hardly began to cover it. Anna was ecstatic. Absolutely ecstatic.
It felt almost like… everything was going perfectly. Kristoff’s music played in the background. Hans and her dad had started laughing and carrying on what seemed like meaningful conversation… Iduna was smiling to herself as she usually did on a Good Day. And here Elsa and Anna were. Together. For the first time in forever.
“I’m so happy!” Anna yelled this loud enough that everybody snapped to attention, expecting a speech or something of the like. “This has to be the best birthday I’ve ever had in my whole life. I… thank you for not forgetting. I know—that’s happened before, but—"
Iduna clicked her tongue. “What are you talking about? We’ve never forgotten your birthday. We’re your parents.”
…what?
Was Anna wrong? Had she made it up? She thought she remembered several birthdays in a row her parents had forgotten… since… probably since Elsa had been shipped off to boarding school. It happened at least every other year.
But.
Her mother seemed to think differently. And Anna knew she could be a bit dramatic sometimes.
So…
Maybe that was all a load of BS and Anna was actually absolutely bonkers.
Shit.
“Anna, dear, your mother’s right. We’d never forget your birthday,” Agnarr explained.
Okay, yeah. All right. So then she was literally bonkers. Batshit crazy. Living in some kind of crazy dream world?
“Okay,” was all Anna said, in a tiny voice. She didn’t know what to think.
Except that maybe she really was crazy after all.
But she tried to push that aside. Something to unpack a bit more later.
She needed to enjoy this moment.
And due to this decision, from that point on, the Duffy boat ride went smoothly. They drank their champagne. They finished a few bottles. More than any of them would care to admit, especially because Agnarr and Iduna served the alcohol to minors and whatever. But regardless, they had a great time. In the end.
Sure, Elsa refused to speak to their parents, but thankfully she was never put on the spot again so that really didn’t put a damper on anything.
Hans kept Agnarr company, Iduna kept to herself, and Anna and Elsa spent the entire time talking each other’s ear off about literally everything.
Anna made sure to include all of the dirty details of her own life. Her chest puffed out when she talked about Hans and everything they’d done to celebrate their not-relationship that Anna still continued to make Elsa believe was a real relationship.
But eventually, it came to an end.
The end of an era. The end of this somewhat happy family dynamic Anna wanted to have 100% of the time.
Agnarr and Iduna hugged the girls goodbye. They were getting dinner with some friends and had to dash.
Which left Elsa, Anna, and Hans to fend for themselves.
Anna was a little bit disappointed that her parents had left them alone, but after what she considered such a great afternoon, she didn’t want to dwell on it.
Focus on the positives, Anna! Keep those in mind!
So, she turned to Hans. The orchestrator. The one who made it all happen.
“Oooh, Hans!” Anna jumped up to give him a peck on the lips. “That was awesomesauce! Like, hands down the best birthday—I totally, totally loved it, thank you!”
“Hold that thought, babe,” he smiled, snaking one hand around her waist and using the other to cup her chin. “I’ve still got one more thing planned.”
“Really, really? You do?”
“To the beach house!”
Anna giggled. She loved him. She now officially loved her birthday. She couldn’t wait.

Into the Unknown: Making Frozen 2 - Review
Finally finished watching all 6 episodes of the Frozen 2 Documentary! My consensus is drum roll please... it was not very good.
Things I liked first: I loved watching the team get emotional when they saw their projects coming together (finishing Into The Unknown, etc).
Watching random guys rub rocks together for sound design was funny.
I loved looking at the Disney offices and all the merch, posters, art, etc.
The actors/workers were very charismatic and believable. They seemed to legit enjoy their work and were happy to help.
- -
Criticism:
The documentary promised to be a look into all the hard work, collaboration, blood, sweat and tears, it took to make Frozen 2, but it came off more as a look into the very final stages of Show Yourself and a few unfinished animation clips. So little of the actual movie making process was shown and it was extremely misleading and frustrating.
-
Songs:
Songs and the songwriting process were definitely the aspect of F2 Disney was most comfortable showing, but that’s saving very little because the attention per song was extremely restricted and lopsided. About 50% of the entire docu-series focuses on just Show Yourself while every other song gets about 20 to 1 minute(s) of screentime (in order from most to least discussion, it goes: Next Right Thing, Into The Unknown, Lost In The Woods, Some Things Never Change, When I’m Older, All Is Found, and Vuile isn’t even mentioned by name). And even when they did discuss these songs, they only showed the lyrics that got into the movie, no cut lyrics or alternatives were shown at all. So it was just long extended scenes of Jenn and the Lopez’ trying to decide whether they should or should not add parts to the song which we, as the viewer, already know were added. And again, they showed no alternatives, so it wasn’t a choice of A or B, it was A or maybe rewrite the middle-ish but no specifics.
They didn't even discuss the public outtakes / deleted scenes they've already released / planned to release like "Get This Right", "Seek The Truth", "Unmeltable Me", etc (they did mention “See They Sky” but nothing else).
The last thing I’d like to mention for this category is that they did discuss the intended emotions / themes of the songs they kept in. They talk about how Show Yourself was supposed to make you feel empowered and satisfyingly wrap up the story, how Next Right Thing was supposed to make you feel just as emotionally raw as Anna, etc. So I can give them credit for that. But again, these explanations became few and far between once they got into the “lesser” songs. Nor do they explain why certain songs were added to the story; for example When I’m Older’s entire existence was justified with “kids really liked it”. “Lost In The Woods” was an 80’s rock ballad because they kinda just wanted to make a 80’s song, etc.
-
Animation:
Again, just like the songs, Disney was very comfortable showing off the animation process, but only unfinished clips, models, skeletons, etc of shots that were actually used in the film and nothing else. But, I did have fun watching animators physically act out character movements, record them, and then animate them (ex: that poor girl who recorded like 5 shots of her own face singing, all super imposed on bobbing reindeer shaped bubbles for the Lost In The Woods scene lol).
The most new/deleted content they showed were storyboards and sketches of Show Yourself  where we got to see alt. backgrounds of Ahtohallan and young Iduna and and See the Sky which was a dance-off type thing between the Northuldra / Arendelle soldiers.
-
Story:
This, and every consecutive category, is where this documentary was severely lacking. They showed no alternative scenes or storylines like “Hard Nokks” or the secret library. Nor did they go into the intended messages/significance of the story elements they did use, like why they chose to trap the Enchanted Forest in mist, why they spared Arendelle, why Elsa left Arendelle, why they chose a dam for the physical boundary they needed to destroy (even though apparently it was loosely based on an IRL dam that hurt the IRL Sami people; I got this from outside resources), etc.
They also don’t dive into any character motivations (outside of the context of Elsa in Show Yourself/Into The Unknown, Anna in Next Right Thing, and Kristoff in Lost In The Woods).
They very explicitly refused to discuss any changes they made to the script. In episode 5 they spend a lot of time emphasizing the importance of audience feedback but refuse to show any actual feedback (they even talk about how they gave out questionnaires but don’t even show us a blank one). This was very blatant and annoying because they spent a lot of time looking DIRECTLY at the camera going on about how important feedback was, how being willing to change was important, how they DID change things, and how change impacted a lot of the movie (ex: cutting songs and simplifying things for children), but refused to show anything. The one (1) change they did show was the prologue, so we see young Anna and Elsa playing before we see Agnarr's flashback, but that was pretty much it.
-
Design / Environments:
Character design and dress design was not discussed at all. They do show us a few seconds of fabric physics for Elsa’s spirit dress and show us how they designed Olaf when he was pretending to be Grand Pabbie (using his snowball feet as ears and ferns as a cape), but nothing else. You’d think that since Elsa and Anna both had like 5 costume changes each, they’d want to discuss that, but no. Nor do they even mention Iduna’s shawl / the unity snowflake which had a ton of significance in the movie. They also don’t discuss the designs of the spirits or their symbols (or even water animation for the Nokk’s body which would’ve been perfect in the animation portions).
-
Research:
The only research we see them doing is visiting IRL glaciers for Ahtohallan in episode 3. This was neat and all, but also very bittersweet because they really emphasized how spectacular and breathtaking Ahtohallan was going to be, but it was literally just an empty cave made of ice; and not even shiny ice (like Elsa’s castle) just dark, flat, and blue. Like I know creating environments is hard but Ahtohallan is very literally empty besides a few extremely narrow hallways and dark colorless abysses. Like it may have been hard to build in a computer but it was NOT creative nor something to boast about (especially compared to the concept art they showed). But this is all my opinion...
They do show a black sand beach which greatly inspired the black sea, but otherwise they don’t show the research it took to properly replicate the Enchanted Forest (like plant life and ecology) nor any of the locations Elsa and the gang briefly passed through on the way to the forest.
Most egregiously of all they completely omit the Sami community and their contributions to the film. They don’t address them by name or even acknowledge the Northuldra are based on them. Nor do they mention the apparent collaboration they did with the Sami community to accurately replicate their culture. The closest they get to acknowledging them or their hand in the creation of F2 was that the subtitles described Vuilie was a "yoik". Which does not count, since no one even says it out loud. You could dismiss all my other complaints about the lack of content and deleted scenes, but this is just flat out disrespectful.
-
Ending Note:
To me, I just don't see the point of this. If this entire documentary was condensed into an hour long YouTube video and explicitly only about the songs/animation I would've been perfectly happy and would've given this an A! Maybe even more because the little parts about the sound design and interviews with the cast would've been little bonuses. But I can't because this is a 6 episode Disney+ only "documentary" on all of F2.
Tl;Dr - I expected a lot more, but was severely disappointed. I wanted an inside sneak peak on the making of one of Disney’s most iconic and my personal favorite IP, but instead I got 240 minutes of Jennifer Lee and the Lopez’ trying to feel the vibe of Show Yourself and crying. Surely they could’ve cut some of that out to talk about literally anything else. Watching this just felt pointless and I was never engaged nor were my curiosities satisfied.
-
Extra Note:
For about 10 minutes at the end of one episode (which may seem short but that’s like ¼ of an episode), the documentary takes a detour to talk about Ryder Buck. Ryder Buck was Chris Buck’s (one of the director) son who died shortly after F1 was released, and I mean no disrespect but the sequence dedicated to him had nothing to do with the film or documentary. One of the F2 character’s was named after Ryder, but that was the only connection (they don’t even mention if Ryder in Frozen was based personality-wise on IRL Ryder, just that they shared a name). The whole 10 minute sequence was literally just a charity event in Ryder’s name and Chris and his wife sitting on a mountain talking about how they miss him. Again, no disrespect and I’m sorry Ryder Buck died so young, but a documentary on Frozen 2 wasn’t an appropriate place or time to talk about him.
Crossing out this section because some people took this as an opportunity to attack Chris Buck and his son, which is completely unacceptable and disgusting.

Non-sequitura Disney in-depth analysis (after making a tier list)
Warning: SUPER longform. If you don’t know a movie well, you should skip the summary. I tried to be light on spoilers, but they’re there.
I went chronologically from favorite to least favorite. So S tier is, in order from fave to least fave, The Incredibles, WALL-E, then Zootopia.
S tier (Something I consider high quality AND a movie I greatly enjoy. I would love more Disney movies be like this.)
The Incredibles - one of my favorite movies of all time, possibly THE favorite. Rockin social commentary, epic action scenes, memorable characters, not a minute of screentime wasted, great take on the Fantastic Four, hilarious parts for both adults and children, an interesting villain, etc.
WALL-E - I love how social commentary was done here. Also skies above, what a beautiful love story. Really blazed a trail in non-verbal storytelling (especially given it was an animated kids film!) Robot animations are particularly delightful.
Zootopia - another social message delivered excellently and entertainingly. I love Judy and her persistence, I love the expressiveness of the faces and the epic city setting. I love Judy and Nick's banter. This movie deserves to be remembered longer than it has been so far. Admittedly, not one of my fave villains, which makes it my least favorite of the Ss.
A tier (either super high quality or something I greatly enjoy and deem of at least reasonably good quality)
Mulan - this movie did everything right. Truly feminist protagonist, an icon for strong Asian women, fairly culturally accurate (tho Mushu confuses me), GORGEOUS and iconic music. Lets a relatively natural romance develop. I frickin love the action scenes, I love the emporer. Sadly, this movie just didn't lodge its way in my heart as well as Pixar did. Pixar just has some magic, yo.
Cinderella - my gosh what an underrated protagonist. Her family straight-up abuses her and she never loses sight of her goals for a better life. Iconic visuals helped bring Disney out of bankruptcy. A gorgeous alto singing voice.
Wreck-it Ralph - alright alright ppl don’t crucify me for this. I honestly can’t think of much wrong with this movie. Vanellope and Ralph’s vitriolic best buds relationship is adorable, her forgiveness of him is heartwarming and (relatively) deserved, rockin’ Owl City song, epic visuals that mix together bc of all the different games. ALSO ONE OF THE BEST DISNEY VILLAINS NO CAP. One of the only twist villains I like. And we stan the romantic pairing.
Tangled - I’ve talked about this a lot, but Rapunzel deserved the whole world after what she’s gone through. That being said, Gothel is not some shallow monster she needs to escape from, but an intelligent, well-defined monster with backstory. I could totally see this story happening if the world of Tangled existed. Epic love story, hilarious dialogue. Music is… good but much of it is less memorable to me. Visuals are good but not quite at the level/creativity of many other disney films.
The Lion King - they really put Hamlet in Africa and pulled it off lol. But in all seriousness, no one took the premise of this film seriously at the time and it became sooo iconic. I love Scar and his eventual downfall, I love how Simba grows emotionally, I love the sad moments that don’t overpower the overall feeling of light goofiness. And music so memorable it was one of the first Disney musicals.
Coco - not a super unique story premise. But an incredible culture to explore with such creativity and sensitivity. I love the themes of death not being the worst and music being so central to the story. Twist/twist villain was memorable and not expected. And yeah, it did make me cry, so props there.
Ratatouille - the most recently watched of these films for me. This movie is soooo unique! Back when Pixar was truly super out there with their concepts. Super Parisian visuals and soundtrack. It somehow starts goofy (THE OLD LADY TRIES TO KILL REMY WITH A SHOTGUN WHILE WEARING A GAS MASK) but really drives home the message that you can truly do what you want regardless of who you are. Colette can get it. And the monologue by Ego at the end is one of my favorites in film.
Frozen - Anna is one of my favorite Disney protagonists. She’s so resilient and loyal. Elsa ain’t bad either but she experiences… less character development. The film is a tad too pleased with its own self-awareness for my taste, but there’s no denying how iconic the music and visuals were.
Inside Out - Alright, this movie hits home for me bc I tried to run away after moving. A super thoughtful, heartfelt depiction of (potentially depression? imo) with great moments of humor. Riley’s inner world is so creative and lovely. Also realistic depictions of Minnesota/California culture.
Tarzan - Jane! is! smart! and! adorable! Her scientific curiosity makes her very endearing. it’s so cute to see her and Tarzan learn from each other. Also Tarzan’s “found mother” is epic. Solid score. Solid film all around. To quote Lily Orchard, “This film is what Pocahontas tried to be.”
B tier (one of my favorites but has a few significant flaws that bring it down (or not quite as memorable to me, but consider good quality))
Peter Pan - Haven’t seen it in a hot sec, but I remember being super charmed by this as a kid. Just going out, having incredible adventures, and returning to a warm home at the end of the day. Tinker Bell is hilarious and beautifully drawn. Gets major negative points for the depiction of Native Americans tho.
Big Hero 6 - I was super charmed by the protagonist, his family/friends, and the setting. The plot/villain’s motivations are a bit of a mess, though.
Princess and the Frog - This movie has so much flavor to it! The visuals/music are lovely and unique. Tiana is incredible but it’s kinda annoying how EVERYONE keeps trying to shoehorn her into romance. The thing is, her goals are entirely reasonable. Focus on her restaurant, then look to settle down. But they’re like “nooo you’re ignoring the important things in life” smh. Also, epic villain, woohoo! The movie dragged significantly for me when they were in the bayou. Charlotte is delightful.
Winnie the Pooh - don’t remember it super well, but I think it was charming and occasionally dark, which is an addictive concoction.
The Little Mermaid - MAN ppl roast Ariel way more than she deserves. Visually, it was… fine. idk. This movie is good. I don’t have much else to say about it.
Snow White - the one that started it all. Visually, super impressive. Musically, lovely. I find the romance a bit… off. Well, more than a bit. What is it with Disney and kissing sleeping people?
Alice in Wonderland - a nerdy acid trip. Right up my alley! I also like films where ppl go on incredible adventures and return to the status quo, but THEY changed bc of it. Epic. SUUUUPER creative visual interpretation of Carroll’s book. Brave - gosh I loooove films where a parent and child learn to understand each other. Never got why ppl hated this movie so much. The Scottish flavor is present and fun. Merida made one mistake and made it up. The arrow scene is iconic.
Cars - a fun ride! (hahaha puns.) We love seeing Paul Newman as a car.
B-minus tier? (same as B, but problematic, or weaker story-wise.)
Hunchback - man… settings-wise, this film might be my favorite. I also love Esmeralda and Quasimodo as characters and as a duo (though the sexualized depiction of Romani ppl is not epic.) I also don’t find the discrimination against Esmeralda/Quasimodo jarring bc it matches the time period. Frollo is super interesting as a villain. The gargoyles are… def not necessary. Basically, this film doesn’t know what it’s doing with tone.
Sleeping Beauty - Aurora was my favorite when I was younger because I thought she was the prettiest, and that still defines how i feel about this, basically. Visually lovely - everything is kind of elongated and gothic. Maleficent is spiteful and epic. I have no issue with the fluffier parts of the movie, like the music or the fairies. RIP for lack of consent being a plot point, though.
Hercules - Megara is incredible. one of the only Disney “princesses” who acts like an adult and has cynicism as a major part of her personality. I love her and Herc’s progression where she learns to trust him (yes, he is genuinely that sincere, it’s not a front.) Muses are unique, whoever came up with them was high on something and I’m living for it. I just think the plot itself was somewhat unrealistic/ weirdly-paced. There are some memorable songs, some less-than-memorable songs. Art style is cool but I’m personally not a fan. EXTREMELY inaccurate depictions of the original Greek gods.
C tier (entertaining, but I don't consider it a great movie)
Bolt - I watched this like 11 years ago. It was fun! A cool concept about those put on a pedestal learning their worth even without celebrity boosting them up. Animation was… fine I think. not super memorable to me.
Frozen 2 - They really took any scrap of character development Elsa had in the first movie, threw it in the garbage and set it on fire. Anna deserved so much better. Songs are bombastic and impressive, have the occasional interesting lyric, but are really weirdly placed and none are quite as iconic as the first movie’s (except Aurora, she does great work here. Also the song Anna sings after she thinks Elsa died.)
Not a big fan of the vaguely homeopathic theme. Not a big fan of Olaf’s WEIRD character development. Not a big fan of the suuuuuper awkward dialogue and the animations that imply not only that Kristoff is into his reindeer but that Elsa and Anna are into each other (if you’re questioning if they did that, yes, they did, I can find screenshots of some really weird expressions/moments. THIS IS NOT THE TIME TO PANDER TO YOUR WEIRD FANS, DISNEY.)
The voice actors did great work, the animators did great work (look at the details on their clothes! Look at how Elsa’s posture changes to be more confident! look at how they're animated while they're singing!) Some weird costume/makeup choices that make Elsa look like an aging starlet, but she also has some gorgeous moments so eh. It’s a wash for me.
They really did not know what to do with Kristoff this movie, huh. The only thing that happened to him was singing a cheesy 90s ballad and marrying Anna, both of which were admittedly epic. Also, the trolls got 0 appearances despite being literally psychic. Probably could have helped with a lot. I'm not a huge fan of lore/worldbuilding, and thee was a lot of it here. Overall neutral on it.
Also a big theme in this movie I don’t love - **** TANGIBLE CONSEQUENCES TO OUR ACTIONS!!! The danger is Elsa’s death, the elements, colonialism, and Arendelle literally being destroyed. None of those end up playing out, so I was left at the end going “this film had literally no stakes.”
Monsters U - same as above - entertaining at the time! Not super memorable. The ppl we were supposed to dislike kept switching. Doesn’t really match the canon of Monsters Inc (I thought they were supposed to have known each other since childhood so why did they meet in college?)
Cars 3 - so apparently, everyone HATED this movie! Fun! I never watched Cars 2 (yes watched Cars 1 if you haven’t been paying attention to this list), but I didn’t think this movie was bad at all. Well-acted, some fun chase scenes, the scene where Lightning fails at driving in the simulation is genuinely hilarious, and some interesting perspectives on teachers getting the spotlight for their skills for once.
Incredibles 2 - I liked this film at first, but then it was… just okay in retrospect. I love me some good family dynamics. The plot here makes not a lot of sense. THEY BUILT UP THE UNDERMINER FOR NOTHING AND THEN FORGOT ABOUT HIM. I was surprised by the villain swap, but it happened so last minute I never really understood their motivations even after they explained them. Tried to tackle waaaay too many messages.
D tier (I didn't enjoy these or consider them mediocre)
Finding Dory - Maybe I should have put this higher? Like C tier at least. Ah well. Wasn’t a huge fan of the body/physical comedy (not my thing), but it was entertaining and awww finding family is heartwarming.
Finding Nemo - I remember nothing about this movie.
E tier (this film has significant problems)
Beauty and the Beast - *sigh*… I want to love this movie. The score is gorgeous. Visually, they could have made it more distinctly Rococo-era France but didn’t (why?) The voice actors did good work and I think Paige O’Hara is SUPER underrated here.
The Beast is emotionally manipulative with an awful temper that (for MOST of the movie. He doesn’t change.) That’s the main reason this is in E tier. This movie shaped so many generations of people thinking they can change the behavior of someone who treats them badly through the power of love. But you can’t. She learns to “love” the beast under coercion. It’s not Stockholm syndrome - it’s a trashy romance novel. Big fan of Gaston as a villain. He’s an archetype ppl can recognize and it’s so satisfying to hate him.
F tier (I think this film actively harms the industry and would rather it not have been made. Both the one in E tier could be considered harmful to the industry, but I think they had significant enough artistic accomplishments to scrape above that. I'm also generally a fan of "lack of censorship bc it's better to teach what not to do.")
Pocahontas - this movie took real historical events and romanticized them AND sexualized one of the only Native princesses they’ve had. Boo. Nothing wrong with animation!Pocahontas as a character, it’s just people put her in a story that doesn’t represent history well at all (and these historical events, unlike those in say, 14th-century Germany, had super relevant effects on people alive today.) And they portrayed the Native Americans and colonial settlers as equally in the wrong. (though I like Governor Radcliffe as a potential villain and love the line “see how I glitter.” I can’t NOT laugh when I hear it.) Lovely music, though. Nice animation, but the colors are weirdly… muted?
Bad Garbage (I don't wish this film had never been made, but I wish I never had to see it.)
Planes - this movie was ridiculous. I remember not much about it except that I kinda hated it and that it was super cheesy with tension one could see right through that immediately resolved itself via one twist or another.
Haven’t seen tier: Recess, A Bug’s Life, A Goofy Movie, DuckTakes Movie, Lilo and Stitch, Pinocchio (actually i have seen this but I remember nothing about it), The Nightmare before Christmas, Toy Stories 1, 2, and 3, Up, 101 Dalmatians, The Great Mouse Detective, Cars 2, Moana, The Good Dinosaur, Pete’s Dragon, Fantasia, Peter Pan Return to Neverland, Fantasia 2000, The Black Cauldron (read the book, though!), Bambi (or I did and remember nothing about it), The Rescuersm, The Rescuers Down Under, Planes Fire and Rescue, Bambi 2, The Fox & the Found, Oliver and Company, Atlantis, Treasure Planet (I want to, though), Piglet’s Big Movie, The Jungle Book, the Emporer’s New Groove, The Jungle Book 2, Chicken Little, Brother Bear, The Three Caballeros, Pooh’s Heffalump Movie, Dumbo, The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, Aladdin (seen parts but never the whole thing), Strange Magic, The Sword in the Stone, James and the Giant Peach, Frankenweenie, Lady and the Tramp, Ralph Breaks the Internet, Doug’s 1st Movie, Monsters Inc. (want to, though), Meet the Robinsons, Dinosaur, The Aristocats, Robin Hood, The Tigger Movie, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, that pooh movie at the end without the title on it

Recently, you'd been looking for another job to supplement your stint as a fitness instructor. You loved your schedule, but you also felt like you still had too much idle time. Plus, paying for rent was more difficult ever since your roommate moved out. The hard part was finding a job that wouldn't infringe on your hours at the fitness studio. Most job openings wanted you either early in the mornings, or at night: the same hours that you taught classes.
But your friend Jongin, another instructor, had found you a promising job.
"My friend's been looking for a babysitter for a while. She's a great kid, you'll love her."
"I don't know, Jongin." You rubbed the back of your neck worriedly. "I don't have a lot of experience with kids."
"Can you hold a conversation?"
"Uh... sure? I guess?"
"Do you know anything about the Frozen movies?"
You thought back to your day at the movies with Chanyeol, both of you blasting the soundtrack in the car on the way home. "I know a good amount."
"Then you're perfect for the job! I really think you can do this, Y/N. You teach adults, how different can it be?"
"They're adults, Jongin, not a... how old is this kid?"
Jongin squinted, looking up as he thought. "Six?"
"Six?!" You slumped against the floor of the empty fitness room, back hitting the mirror behind you. "I don't think I've talked to a kid since I was one."
Your friend squatted beside you, a pout on his lips as he thought of how to cheer you up. "Hey, if I can take care of her, you can too."
"You have a niece and nephew, Jongin. You easily have more experience than me."
"Okay, then how about this — try it out for one day, and I'll be there to help? Just so you get a feel for if you want to do this or not."
"Your friend would be okay with letting a stranger play with their kid for a day?"
Jongin shrugged. "I can vouch for you! He'll trust you because he trusts me, Y/N. Promise."
You sighed, stretching your legs out in front of you. One day as a test trial didn't seem too bad... "Okay. But you promise to be there for the entire time that day?"
Jongin nodded emphatically, bangs flopping against his forehead. "Yixing and Xinyue are going to love you, I know it."
Tumblr media
You weren't sure what you were expecting, but it certainly wasn't this.
Jongin greeted his friend with a hug, both men all smiles and laughter. You innocently looked over Jongin's friend, eyes lingering on his deep-set dimples and the sleeve of tattoos decorating his left arm. Some of them appeared to be an arrangement of flowers, delicate petals in pastel hues dancing across his skin. A larger piece curled up his arm until it disappeared under his sleeve. He also had soft, tousled black hair that almost seemed curly. Upon first glance, he couldn't be much older than you. Jongin didn't tell you that his friend was this attractive.
"Y/N, this is Yixing."
You flinched, gaze immediately jumping up to Yixing's face. The man extended a hand to you, shaking it firmly when you accepted. "Nice to meet you, Y/N. Jongin told me you're a good friend of his."
"Yeah, we've been working together for a while. Um, I really appreciate this. Jongin had nothing but good things to say about you and your daughter."
"He better." Yixing chuckled, dimples reappearing and making him look even more youthful — if that was even possible. "Come in, Xinyue's just watching a movie."
"Frozen 2?" Jongin asked as you took your shoes off.
"Third time already this week." Yixing shook his head good-naturedly. "Well, at least I know what kind of birthday to throw for her this year."
Both men burst into laughter, falling into a familiar camaraderie. You followed them into the living room, where a small girl sat on the floor only a few feet away from the TV. Her long hair was plaited into two braids, mismatched hair ties adorning each one.
"Xinyue," Yixing called out. "You're going to hurt your eyes if you sit that close."
"I'm not," the girl countered. She turned around, the frown on her face instantly replaced with a wide grin. "Uncle Jongin!"
Jongin crouched down with his arms open as the girl got up, braids bouncing as she came over for a big hug. He peppered her face with kisses, even as she giggled and tried to escape.
"Jongin's going to be here today while I go work for a bit," Yixing told his daughter. "And he brought a friend too."
Xinyue perked up at that, staring at you over Jongin's shoulder. You didn't know what else to do, so you waved. "Hi, Xinyue, I'm Y/N."
The six-year-old looked from you to her dad. When Yixing nodded, she waved back. "Hi," she said shyly, chin resting on Jongin's shoulder.
"You know, Y/N loves Frozen too," Jongin said in a stage-whisper.
Xinyue looked at you with more interest this time, and you nodded in agreement. "I love Olaf! Who's your favorite character?"
"Elsa!" the girl replied immediately. "Did you see when she was riding the water horse, and when she stopped all the pink fire, and when — "
"Xinyue," Yixing interrupted, trying to hide his laughter. "You're going to run out of breath if you keep talking that fast." He leaned over to kiss her on the forehead, playfully tweaking an ear. "Why don't you go finish the movie with Jongin while I talk to Y/N? She can watch it with you in a bit."
"Okay!" Xinyue jumped up and pulled Jongin over to the couch, launching right back into her passionate rant about Frozen.
Yixing sighed, a fond smile on his face. "I apologize in advance if it gets to be a bit much."
"Oh no, it's no problem," you replied sincerely. "I forgot how cute kids are when they talk about the things they love."
"Me too, but there's only so many times I can talk about Frozen," Yixing said, eliciting laughter from you. He led you over to the kitchen, where he had written down a few reminders.
"Today's my day off, but I'm heading in for a few extra hours. One of my students had to reschedule their lesson."
"You're a teacher?"
"Yeah, I teach kids music. I mean, during the day, I go around to different schools and drop by for an hour each. But I do one-on-one guitar and piano lessons with kids and adults on the side too."
Your mouth fell open in surprise. "Wow, that's really amazing. I've got a lot of respect for anyone with musical talents, it's hard enough for me to just stay on key when I'm singing."
Yixing's cheeks turned a light pink as he grinned. "I'm sure you could learn something if you ever wanted to. Most of my students start out learning the basics, and they've all been making a lot of progress. I've been doing more hours with some of them, but that also means I have less time with Xinyue." He glanced over to the living room, his daughter now singing her heart out along with the music. "She used to be in the after-school program, but she hated it so much, I felt bad. Her mom can't pick her up either, since she lives a few hours away."
Upon hearing those words, you couldn't help but look down at Yixing's hand. No ring to be seen at all. Was he raising Xinyue by himself?
"I know you haven't agreed to anything yet," Yixing continued. "But I'm honestly so thankful that you're here today, that you're considering helping us out. I think Xinyue likes you already."
"I'm glad, I like her too."
A look of relief came over Yixing's face, the man nodding to himself before pulling his reminders over. "I should be home in time for dinner, but if she gets hungry, she's free to any of the snacks in here. But, she can't have too much, especially if it's candy. She doesn't have any allergies, but she avoids tomatoes like she's allergic to them." Yixing shook his head with a smile. "Here's my phone number, and just in case I'm not answering and it's an emergency, here's her mom's number."
You took the list of reminders when Yixing offered it to you, reading over everything one more time. "What about homework?"
"We just finished it before you guys came. It's really not that time consuming, the hardest part is just getting Xinyue to finish it all before playing," he said with a grin.
After both of you went over any remaining questions, Yixing went to say goodbye to his daughter. "I'll be out for a bit, Xinyue. We'll eat dinner when I get back."
"Okay, Papa." Xinyue kissed her dad on the cheek before turning her attention back to the movie.
"I'll see you guys later. Thanks again, Y/N."
"No problem!" You watched as Yixing put his shoes on, giving you a final wave before he walked out the door with his bag and guitar case.
You went to join the others on the couch, both of them taking up most of the space as they sprawled over it. "Could you two scoot over a little bit, please?"
Jongin and Xinyue immediately moved over, leaving enough space for you to sit on Xinyue's other side. "What's happening now?" you asked her.
"The rock giants are chasing Anna," the girl whispered back to you.
"Ooh, this part always scares me."
"It's not real!" Xinyue giggled, and laid a hand on your arm.
"Still," you pretended to be afraid. "Will you keep us safe?"
"Yes!" The girl leaped up off the couch, pretending to be Elsa as she ran around the room, you and Jongin watching in amusement.
After the movie, you made a few sandwiches for the three of you to snack on. Xinyue had talked your ear off about what she did with her friends during recess, and how one of her best friends even saw Elsa and Anna at Disneyland. When you asked her what she liked to play at home, Xinyue literally pulled you over to her room, showing you her dolls — Frozen, of course.
"Who do you wanna be?" she asked.
Judging by your conversation earlier and how Xinyue was practically glued to the screen every time Elsa appeared, you knew who not to pick. "I want to be Anna!"
Xinyue beamed, holding the doll out to you. "Okay! You can be Anna, and I'll be Elsa!" She glanced over at Jongin, who had followed the two of you. "Uncle Jongin, you can be the rock people."
"The rock people? The trolls?!"
You couldn't help the giggles that escaped, Xinyue joining in.
"Oh, very funny. I didn't bring Y/N here so you guys could tease me," Jongin pretended to sulk.
"Shh, the rock people don't come in right now," you said with a final giggle. "Okay, Queen Elsa. Where are we?"
Tumblr media
Yixing came home a few hours later to the sounds of excited squeals and shouts from Xinyue's bedroom. He smiled to himself as he walked down the hallway, peering into the open room. You were lying down on the carpeted floor, a mess of giggles as Xinyue lay sprawled on top of you. When you tried to get up, Xinyue wrapped her little arms around your neck, trapping you in a hug. Yixing watched as you stared down at the child in your arms, eyes full of wonder. It was endearing to see how well the two of you got along, even in such a short amount of time. He knocked on the doorframe, smiling when you and Xinyue immediately looked up at him.
"How's it going?"
"Uncle Jongin went home early," Xinyue replied.
You sat up, Xinyue still hanging onto you. "Someone at the fitness studio called out sick, and Jongin got called in. But we've been fine, just playing lots of games."
"Papa, Y/N and I were playing hide-and-seek, and she didn't find me in the laundry basket!"
"In the laundry?" Yixing came over and picked his daughter up, swinging her around until she was squealing with laughter. "You're going to need a bath earlier today, if you were hiding in stinky clothes," he teased.
"Papa, you're stinkier!"
Yixing opened his mouth as if to come back with a retort, but he set Xinyue back down instead with a huff. "You're getting too big for me to pick you up nowadays. Soon, you'll have to be picking me up."
Xinyue took that as a challenge, both arms wrapped around one of Yixing's legs as she heaved and pulled, to no avail. Yixing looked to you, where you had been watching them in amusement. "Do you want to stay for dinner?"
"I don't want to be a bother," you began.
"You won't be. Both of us are happy to have you stay longer. Right, silly monkey?" he addressed his daughter.
"I'm not a monkey, I'm a princess!"
"Yes, Princess Xinyue. Come on, let's go make some food for our guest."
Yixing wouldn't hear of you helping out in any way, and so you simply watched as he took charge in the kitchen, with Xinyue as his assistant. You were surprised to find that not only was he kind, musically talented, and a loving father, but he managed to cook up a delicious meal as well.
"Thanks," he said sheepishly when you complimented him on his food. "I really had to learn how to cook for Xinyue's sake. You wouldn't believe the number of times we had mac and cheese in a week when she was younger."
"Honestly, I've done that too — and I'm just cooking for one."
"You're always welcome to stay for dinner if you want. I mean, if you end up wanting to stay on as Xinyue's babysitter?" Yixing waited hopefully, chewing down on his bottom lip as he anticipated your answer.
Truth be told, you hadn't expected to get along with Xinyue so well. But after only a couple of hours, the little girl had you wrapped around her finger. You couldn't imagine not taking the job — especially when you thought about how much Yixing interested you.
"I'd love to take the job, Yixing."
"Really? That's great!" He nudged Xinyue's arm gently with his elbow. "Y/N's going to be spending more time with us from now on, like when I have to work. What do you think?"
Xinyue chewed on her food thoughtfully, eyebrows drawn low over her round eyes she mused. "When you come over, can we go to the park?"
Yixing choked back a laugh as you grinned. "Yes, of course. It'll give us more space to play Frozen, too."
The six-year-old threw her hands up in the air, fork and all. She managed to fling a few pieces of food onto the floor behind her, much to Yixing's distress and your enjoyment.
You could already feel how much change and excitement these two were bringing into your life.
Tumblr media
Yixing was rushing home, hair matted against his forehead as he sat in traffic. Although he had asked you to stay a bit later today while he attended a student's recital, he hadn't expected to be this late. It was already time for Xinyue to go to bed, and he hoped that you weren't having a hard time. Your last reply to his texts had been about twenty minutes ago, and Yixing was growing more anxious with each passing second. If Xinyue was tired and cranky, there was no telling what he would be walking into.
He made it home as quickly as he could, leaving his belongings in the car as he ran up to the house and unlocked the door. "Y/N? Xinyue?" he called out. His nervousness only continued to grow when he was met with silence. Yixing closed the door behind him, kicking his shoes off before heading to Xinyue's room. Pushing the bedroom door open, he was about to speak when he was stunned into silence.
Xinyue lay in bed, already dressed in pajamas and fast asleep. But what was even more surprising was the fact that you were curled up next to her, both of you hugging each other as you slept.
Yixing crept closer, lips curving upwards at the sight. It was only a month since you had become a part of their daily lives, and yet he couldn't imagine not having you around — not just for your help, but for the energy and cheer that you brought with you. You weren't just the babysitter, you were a close and trusted friend.
But recently, Yixing had been hoping that maybe, there was something more. He wasn't oblivious to your stares, sneaking a few of his own when you weren't looking. The two of you got along extremely well — he hadn't felt this close to anyone in a long time.
Yixing gently nudged your shoulder, whispering your name softly so as not to wake Xinyue up.
Your eyes flew open, still groggy and disoriented until you realized that it was Yixing waking you up, that you last remembered falling asleep after reading Xinyue a story. "Oh my god," you blurted out, your hand instantly covering your mouth as you turned to look at Xinyue. Thankfully, the girl continued to sleep.
"Hey, don't worry," Yixing whispered back. "Let's get you out of here first though."
You nodded as Yixing carefully moved Xinyue's hands off of you, settling them carefully onto the bed and pulling the covers over her.
"Thanks," he murmured as you turned off the light. The two of you silently made your way to the living room, the space bathed in the soft light of the ceiling light hanging overhead.
"I'm sorry," Yixing spoke up. "I didn't think the recital would run this late, and I wasn't expecting you to even do all of this. I've felt horrible the past week, since you've been staying longer and helping out more. Sometimes I feel like you're babysitting both of us."
You laid a hand on his shoulder, a sign of comfort. "Yixing, for the hundredth time, I'm not your babysitter. You're more than capable of taking care of yourself and Xinyue. Look at how well you were doing before I even came into the picture."
Yixing looked away, touched by your kind words. "But still," began. "I feel like I'm taking advantage of your generosity. Can I make it up to you? Maybe buy you a meal or something?"
"You don't have — "
"Please, Y/N. Just as a way to say thank you."
Sighing, you gave in. "Okay, Yixing. Thank you."
"Thank you. I mean it. How does Monday night sound?"
"Sure, after you come back from work? Xinyue's coming with us too?"
Yixing hesitated, mustering up the courage to say what he wanted. "Actually, um, maybe just the two of us?"
A few wrinkles appeared on your forehead. "But who's going to take care of Xinyue?" you asked in confusion.
"I can ask Jongin or another friend to stay with her for a bit."
"So... this is a date?"
"Yeah," Yixing stammered out. "Unless it makes you feel uncomfortable, then we can just call it off or — "
You held a finger up against his lips, smiling to yourself when he instantly fell silent. "Yixing, I'd love to go out for dinner with you. It's a date, then."
Yixing felt relief well up inside, unable to stop the smile on his lips as he repeated your words.
"It's a date."
Tumblr media
A/N: as always, whenever I can’t think of names for new characters, I go back back to things that the members have acted in haha 😂😂😂😂 this time, yixing’s daughter is named after a character from “the mystic nine”! I watched the whole series back when it came out and people were subbing it here on tumblr, and writing this gave me the urge to go back and rewatch it (even though it’s like what 40 episodes long? and I have a short attention span LOL)
edit: changed pairing from “reader” to “fem reader” because I forgot what I used gender-specific pronouns. i’ve been trying to keep things gender ambiguous, but to label fics correctly if the character’s coded as female

Characters I like AKA ‘hurt face’ master post
The characters I like in movies and books are distinctly different. With books, I have all sorts of favorite characters, and I love that I know what they’re thinking. I just love a good deep third or first person.
In contrast to books, there’s just something different about movies. We’re watching actors, and the visual component really dictates how I interact with film. I can get over a bad storyline if the emotional journey I’m watching looks real.
When I’m watching a movie, I will almost always fall for lonely characters played by actors who can clearly express pain and sadness. Bonus points for guilt, insecurity, and a history of rejection. I will like them even if they’re not likable, or kind, or nice, or even good. They are visually compelling. Of course, I’ll love them even more if the backstory actually backs up why they’re in pain, and gives me a reason I shouldn’t dislike them beyond “they emote so pretty.” Experience with high school theatre productions has taught me there’s so much more to anger than volume, and so much more to sadness than tears; I’m in awe of actors who can communicate those emotions with subtlety and/or clarity.
So in real life, most of us aren’t that good at communicating with our faces, are we? For me, anyways, it’s hard to distinguish between tired, angry, or annoyed. When someone’s in pain or hurting, they rarely just look sad. Life’s not like a movie, when a good actor can show you exactly how a character feels without saying anything at all. I’m not so good at telling what people are thinking and often assume that that people are mad (and that they’re mad at me), when in reality I think pain must be more common. Most peole think of actors as imitating real people. I think they have to do more: they have to be expressive, and yet have it come off as genuine, so that we don’t even see the face but the character.
I only just figured out why it was that when Frozen came out, I was obsessed with it. The story itself leaves a lot to be desired, but I was willing to excuse that. My phone was full of pictures of Elsa,  but most of them were stills from the movie rather than fan art. I had pictures of almost every face Elsa makes in Let it Go, when she just looks exhilarated and like she can’t believe how happy she feels. I also had every frame from when she hugs frozen Anna (pictured below). It was the first time I’d really seen an animated character visibly express insecurity, loneliness, self-rejection, guilt, and anxiety.*
This whole “visibly expressing negative emotions” thing is also one of the main why I’m obsessed with the first four seasons of Doctor Who. The Time War plot checks off every box, and Eccleston and Tennant are just brilliant about letting that emotion show through.
Same thing goes for musical theatre. With cast recordings, the best is when you can just hear everything they’re saying in the way they sing things. Pretty Funny from Dogfight (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64-HBOsY50s) is just brilliant. Some other favorites: Track Down This Murder/Down Once More from Phantom, Empty Chairs at Empty Tables (see: all of Les Miserables, actually), I’m Not That Girl as well as its reprise and No Good Deed from Wicked, Satisfied and Burn from Hamilton**
There are these characters who are...awful. They have objectively done awful things. I don’t think their actions are excusable. Yet the visual part of my just loves to watch them because they’re in pain and it’s written all over their face. (Loki and Kylo Ren fall into this category for me). I want to make all of these excuses for them, and am not repulsed, and spend all of this time analyzing them because what the actors can do with their faces just sucks me in.
Now that I think about it, this is probably why I hate Elijah Wood’s performance of Frodo. The boy had exactly four faces: happy, sad, sick, and demented
A warning: this is a rough collection of GIFs that don’t all match in shape and format.
Tumblr media
I will take the ring to Mordor.
Tumblr media
Rose.
In the most loving way possible, David Tennant as the 10th Doctor is rather melodramatic and constantly aggrieved, so I’m going to leave it at these two scenes even though I could probably mine a gifset from almost every episode he appears in post-Rose.

There was a war, and we lost.

(I love just about every face Christopher Eccleston makes as the Ninth doctor, but will save that for another post.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I actually didn’t care one way or the other for Alan Rickman’s Snape until this scene. After watching that, I was moved and reevaluated my whole take on the character. I don’t personally see Snape’s relationship with Lily as romantic like I once did, but I don’t think I would have gone back and evaluated the character as deeply as I did without first watching Rickman in that scene. I’m now firmly in the Snapedom.

Then leave.

AKA Viggo Mortensen breaks a toe.

This jerkface.
Tumblr media
Samantha Barks was amazing to watch and hear.
Tumblr media
Eddie Redmayne is a gift.
Tumblr media
Anne Hathaway was phenomenal.
Les Mis was actually really hard to watch in movie theatres because there were so many closeups of the actors’ faces during intense emotional moments. It was a little overwhelming.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pearl Mackie is a gift.
Some concluding observations:
This is a very white list. It was also feeling pretty male until I added Doctor Who companions and musicals.
This was harder than I was expecting, emotionally. Here’s some more Bill Potts to lighten things up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*Actually, one of the reasons I couldn’t stand Anna is because she comes off as completely ignorant when Elsa’s every expression is plainly written all over her face, even though narratively she has every reason to be in the dark. If Elsa wore the regular, confusing expressions most of us wear, Anna wouldn’t come off as so silly. (Also if she would stop talking for a few seconds and listen). If Elsa’s animations weren't so expressive, I probably would cut Anna a lot more slack naturally **After I had the privilege of seeing Hamilton, Quiet Uptown joins this list possibly the best bit of acting I have ever seen without a single word being said. You can’t completely hear it in the recordings, but Eliza’s face goes through about 50 emotions without even opening her mouth moving, and I was sobbing as I watched.

That is, until a PR nightmare throws the newest member of the media team, who also just so happens to be the daughter of the new owner, right into his arms. Kristoff and Anna can’t even stand the interviews they have to do together… how on earth are they going to fix this mess? Hockey!AU.
[Chapter Index]
Where To Read: [AO3]
Notes: even slow progress is progress right? This might be a big step for them :)
Enjoy!
Kristoff was struggling to find Sven in the crowd of people, but sighed with relief when he heard his name being hollered from behind him. He clenched the three drinks just a little tighter in his hands before turning to face his captain.
“Hey baby!” Sven hollered, slinking across the floor with his fiancée under his arm. Kristoff couldn’t help but chuckle at the pink flush across both of their cheeks. Clearly they had wasted no time in finding the bar and downing more than one drink. “More?”
Handing off something pink and sweet to Jelissa with a smile, Kristoff held up two beers in between his other fingers. He hoped it would help slow Sven down just enough that he wouldn’t have to carry him home, but still let his best friend keep his buzz going. “Drink this for now, I think Anna is going to come join us in a little bit -”
“Oh man, okay,” Sven grabbed the beer before grinning as he spun his cane haphazardly up to rest on his shoulder. “So… wait hang on.” He turned to whisper something in Jelissa’s ear before she rolled her eyes and turned to find some of the ladies who were here with their hockey playing significant others that she knew. “Okay, boy talk.”
“Boy…?” Kristoff felt his face scrunch up just a little in confusion before he felt the sting of a three foot long metal pole colliding with his upper arm. “What the fuck!”
“Will you just,” he did it again, and Kristoff winced as he stepped back. “Tell her how you feel?” Sven was winding up for another whack when Kristoff reached up to place a firm hand on the stick.
“I don’t think hitting me is helping!”
Sven’s eyebrows furrowed as he threw his hands up in defeat, spilling a little of the beer onto the floor. “Well it can’t be hurting! Clearly I need to actually smack some sense into you, you moron!” Tearing the can from Kristoff’s grip, Sven slammed it back on the ground. “You’re in love with her, man. We can all see it. Why can’t you?”
Letting a heavy sigh pass over his lips, Kristoff couldn’t help but avert his gaze. He knew Sven was right, and that made his heart speed up under his ribs. He thought about her bright, loving eyes and her glowing smile and her warm laugh that made him feel safe and shit shit shit.
He fucking loved her, didn’t he.
“Fuck.”
A knowing smile stretched over Svens lips as he reached over with the cane again, tapping it lightly against Kristoff’s cheek. “You’re so dumb. But I still love you.”
What the hell was he supposed to do now?
-
Anna loved the time she spent with her sister, but it was almost mortifying to learn of everything she had missed while living by herself these last few months. Apparently their father had somehow gotten worse - she supposed due to the stress of actually having to make decisions - and their mother wasn’t handling it well. In fact, Anna had seen her at the bar, three drinks in, and when she tried to say hello she had been dismissed, almost as if she hadn’t even been recognized.
Elsa said she was doing her best to help, but their mother refused to admit she had a problem. There really wasn’t much that could be done right now.
“Anna, this isn’t something you need to worry about, I promise. I’ve got it handled. I want you…” She squeezed at her shoulders lovingly, a smile growing on her face. “I want you to live your life, all right? You seem so happy here. You were never happy in LA.”
Nodding and biting at her lip, Anna sighed. “All right, if you’re sure.”
“I am.”
“Then,” she said with a grin, shrugging her shoulders. “You should probably let loose a little tonight, huh? Why don’t we…” Her eyes landed on Honeymaren, laughing alongside another member of the media team. “Meet my friends.”
Grabbing her sisters’ hand and pulling her eagerly over towards her coworker, Anna practically leapt to stand between them. “Honey!” Her eyes turned up to face them.
“Wait, what --”
“Honey this is my sister, the one I’ve mentioned…” She winked and snickered, the cosmo clearly already loosening her up. “You know.
“Anna.” Elsa’s voice was heavy with warning.
“Elsa,” she smiled, blowing one huff of air out. “This is Honeymaren -- Honey -- and I think you guys might get along great.”
Anna couldn’t help how toothy her grin got as the two women looked at one another and laughed, as if they both knew exactly what Anna was up to.
That was fine.
Because now she really wanted to find Kristoff.
After giving them just a few minutes to introduce themselves to one another, Anna could feel herself starting to get anxious to move, her heels tapping on the ground repeatedly as she bounced up on her toes. “Okay!” she practically exploded, reaching for both of their hands. “How about a round of shots and then we go find Kristoff and Sven?”
Anna missed the way their eyes connected with laughter before she skipped off towards the bar, dragging them behind her. She ordered her favorite shot - the pink starburst - and grinned as she held them out for the other two women. “I think we all deserve this.” Elsa rolled her eyes with a smile and Anna bounced happily before throwing her own back and immediately ordering six simple kamikaze shots before leading the way out to the dance floor where she assumed the three would still be.
It didn’t take long for her wandering eyes to find him, tall and broad and hovering over most of the other attendees. He had lost his hat and his hair was falling out from the slick do, and Anna couldn’t help but love the way small bits of his fringe fell into his eyes as he smiled and laughed along with his best friend. And as if he could sense her, his head turned her way, his eyes locked onto hers, and his grin widened. He practically pushed people aside to come meet her halfway, offering his hands to help with the six drinks they had been carrying.
“I brought shots.” Why was she so nervous right now? Obviously she brought shots!
“I see that.” But his smile was genuine.
She heard Sven and Jelissa’s vocalizing for them to come closer over the jazzy decade-appropriate music and laughed, gesturing their way. “I suppose they’ll start a riot if I don’t bring these to them, huh?”
Kristoff shrugged but kept smiling. “They’re already pretty drunk. They’ll probably forget you even have them in a minute.” His free hand reached for her, settling on the bare skin of her lower back before applying just enough pressure to encourage her to move forward.
“We’ve got some catching up to do, I think,” Anna sighed, glancing at the measly shot in her hand.
“Or,” he rolled his neck, leaning back towards Honey and Elsa. “The four of us can just stay semi-sober and enjoy the show they’re bound to give us.”
Anna enjoyed the laughter from her sister and her friend that bubbled up behind them, sneaking a glance at the two girls before tugging gently on Kristoff’s jacket to make him lean closer. “I’m setting them up,” she whispered, a glint in her eye. “I think they’ll be so good together, you know?”
She hummed happily as he risked one glance back at two women, and Anna noticed a recognition in his eyes she wasn’t wholly familiar with. “Oh, yeah, I think… I think that’ll go well.”
They reached Sven and Jelissa who hollered at a probably obnoxious level before they grabbed two shots from their hands, throwing them back without question.
“Oh boy.” Anna looked up at Kristoff who was practically grimacing as he watched the couple, who were now dancing in a manner that was definitely bordering on inappropriate. “That’s not what you want.”
Anna felt her whole face flush as four hands reached out to pull her and Kristoff into their rambunctious dance circle.
The night was finally starting to wind down, and Anna felt the exhaustion in her bones. As fun as dancing and singing and letting loose with her friends and sister was, she was absolutely on her last leg. She loved parties, and loved how they wore her out but energized her at the same time, but she was also just about ready to take her very handsome, very tipsy, fake boyfriend home and enjoy some much needed alone time with him.
Most people had left by now with the exception of a few stragglers who were looking to buy whatever was remaining, and some others who clearly wanted to milk the event for all it was worth. Sven and Jelissa had settled onto a couch in the corner, curled up together and practically sleeping while they waited for the night to end, while Elsa and Honey were sitting in the dining area, knees brushing as they talked and ignored the mostly untouched glasses of wine resting on the table between them.
Most surprising of all to Anna was that Kristoff was still out on the dance floor with her, holding her close as slow music played to cool off the rest of the attendees. She relished in the way he held her now, his hand settled low on her back while fingers stroked softly at her skin, as his other one grasped hers, their intertwined fingers partially wedged between their chests. Anna couldn’t help but use her other hand to play with the hair at the base of his skull as they swayed back and forth, his eyes rarely leaving hers.
“So…” she hummed, at the same time as he blurted out “I need to confess something.”
“O-oh?” She wasn’t sure what he was going to say, but she thanked the soft encouragement of alcohol as he smiled through the light flush on his cheeks. Anna tried not to let her imagination run too wild - for all she knew he was going to tell her that he didn’t like cats. This could mean nothing. But…
He laughed, just a little one, and spun her slowly to the beat of the music. “You’ve ruined me, you know that? For good.”
Anna felt her smile drop just a little, but she did her best to play it off. “What do you mean?”
“I…” he shook his head, breathing out a heavy sigh. “I mean… No one is ever…” He blinked and his face dropped and she felt him stiffen beneath her. “Don’t take this the wrong way, all right?”
He seemed to relax just slightly when she let out a breathy laugh and shook her head. “I won’t.”
Nodding, Kristoff continued. “I will never be able to date anyone else. Even if I wanted to.”
His hand tightened around her waist, pulling her impossibly closer as he pressed his cheek against hers. “I’m… I’m still not ready. I’m sorry. But when I am…”
“Kristoff…” She let go of his fingers clasped between hers before wrapping her arms around his neck, smiling when his now free hand pressed comfortingly against the back of her head. “I’m…” her heart was hammering beneath her ribs and she could almost see her blood pulsing behind her eyes. “You’re it for me.”
He squeezed just a little tighter.
“I will never… I will never feel this way again.”
She heard the soft exhale of breath through his nose as he turned to bury it behind her ear.
“I’ll wait as long as you need me to.”
It didn’t take long for him to pull back just enough to look into her eyes and decide if she was telling the truth. Then faster still, he pressed his lips to hers and kissed her deeper than he ever had before.
She loved him.
She would wait forever if she had to.

an update on how my oc's are getting along during this pandemic :)
Harry and Goldie: this man is absolutely loving the time he gets to spend with you and your little love! sure, now he's going out and about between the states and your flat back in london, but he absolutely adored the few uninterrupted months he got to spend with the both of you. goldie is just over two and a half years old when quarantine begins, so you and harry decide it's a good time to start potty training. she hates it at first, mostly because the sound of the toilet flushing is intimidating, but soon she learns that harry will sing over the loud sound. you almost rolled your eyes allowed the first time you watched your husband sing beside the toilet, clapping his hands and blowing into a blue harmonica between words.
the three of you also become a family of four, well five if were counting the goldfish named finn. you get pregnant just after march, and your finding out in a few days the gender...it's a little girl. even before you know though, harry has deemed your little one bowie. the baby inside of you loves grilled cheese and tomatoes, which you were never fond of, and is guaranteed to start moving around when music is played. the first time harry realized this, his head was in your lap and david bowie was playing on vinyl.
"did ya feel that, lovie?" he looked up with wide eyes and a glowing grin, "bunny likes himself some bowie."
"who said it's a boy harry?" you bit back, a smile on your lips.
"we already got a girl, it's only fair, love." he mumbled back before pressing his lips to the skin of your bare belly, not just popping but definitely not as tight as it was, "hi, bowie. ya gonna be my music partner? i think yeh big sister might have a fit."
but quarantine also came with struggles. goldie didn't understand why she couldn't bounce back and forth between your flat and anne's house, and she definitely didn't understand why you were no longer going to the pack every afternoon with a packed lunch and a plan to stop at the ice cream shop and collect a blue popsicle. she had thrown a fit at harry's feet for six days before moving along to the next obsession -- which happened to be styling harry's growing hair into a messy ponytail, or unicorn horn as she deemed through giggles.
Ellie McCall: ellie and liam are doing great! they've taken this time to just sit back and actually enjoy each others company. ellie's fresh out of college and beside stiles at the FBI, working as a medically trained field agent. her brothers best friend was less then happy when he realized that the younger girl was moving up in the program quicker then he could. ellie and liam are ready to start a family, though they don't look to be having any luck. when they do get pregnant though, ellie immediately worries that she's going to have to push a werewolf sized baby out of her. it takes seven calls to deaton and three voice mails to derek to assure her that the baby will be normal sized, and lacking in supernatural abilities until he's at least a toddler. oh yeah, it's a baby boy that is immediately named called brett dunbar.
though ellie and liam are enjoying the time home, it does bring ellie into a darker headspace. she dwells over allison and what her best friend might have been doing, and she can't help but think about boyd and erica. even matt crosses her mind a few times before she wiggles into bed besides liam and falls asleep with his heartbeat in her ear. liam isn't oblivious to her suffering, but it's apparent he doesn't know how to help. he sits were her sometimes when she's just staring out of the living room window, and makes her a cup of tea, because recently she's grown to hate the taste of coffee. he just lets her know that he's with her, and even though they're along in DC, she isn't actually alone.
Dylan O'Brien, Chloe O'Brien, and Maisie O'Brien: the trio is so good! dylan is so glad to finally be home with his girls for longer then a couple of broken up weeks. he can't remember the last time he was truly free to just be a dad and a husband. yes, chloe and dylan got married. it was a few weeks before the new year that they celebrated two months married. dylan's glad they waited so long, because the image of his daughter walking down the isle never fails to bring tears to his eyes. mae's just over four and a half, so she was in pre-school when everything started shutting down. she cried for weeks about missing her friends, clinging to dylan's torso for hours until she could be persuaded into walking on her own.
mae was a busybody, which meant keeping her home all day every day was hard. dylan was a personal jungle gym at this point, having bruises and cuts littering his arms and legs from how frequently he was used as a latter or slide. he wouldn't have it any other way though, loving that himself alone could entertain maisie for hours. what was hard about being home was finding alone time. the little one chloe and dylan shared loved to sneak into bed with them at two am, meaning that any passionate love making was rushed and done half dressed. it really wasn't passionate, but it quenched the thirst that would build after days of thick sexual tension.
every morning dylan would wake up after chloe and mae, coming down to plates of fresh fruit and pancakes. chloe didn't mind the big breakfast, giving her something to do other then stare at the wall or sing along to frozen for the umpteenth time that week. she had tried to get mae into something else after watching it seven times in a day, but the littler girl had crawled into her fathers laps with pleading eyes and a frown, sweetly asking if he could turn on anna and elsa when you were in the bathroom. it was no surprise that he cracked under the pressure, wanting nothing more then to be mae's best friend even when he knew a movie couldn't hurt her.
chloe's favorite thing about it all though had to be waking up in the middle of the night to cold sheets. she would leave the bedroom confused, having remembered falling alseep in dylan's arms, but in no time she would find her husband and daughter either in the kitchen eating ice cream, or cuddled up together in a toddler sized bed happily asleep. she would selfishly take a few more months of this isolation if it meant making more magical memories.
Emma James and Dylan Sprayberry: emma and dylan are great! they've started wedding planning, and have been using this time to finally finish moving into their house! emma was sad to let go of her first home with everly, but she comes to love their newly purchased home in SoCal even more. emma and ellery have been besties this entire time! it's not often that the two of them are apart, finding it a comfort to have some sort of daily routine that helps them stay mentally okay. emma is more then glad to have dylan by her side at home, but she needs more then her fiancé to keep a level head.
emma doesn't have any upcoming projects, instead taking the time to work on herself and her mom life. everly james is everything to her! the little beauty who looks just like her mother is just under two years old when this pandemic really cracks down on california, and it takes a toll on emma when they're forced to spend her second birthday with just dylan's sister and mother.
emma tries her hardest to keep in contact with holland and crystal, often having facetime calls scheduled. she misses seeing her friends faces every day, but knows that their reunion will be so much sweater once everything is safe and reopened.
Scotland Reilly and Dylan O'Brien: i haven't introduced scotland to this blog yet, but she's my little bean, and the irl oc for leila martin! anyways, scotland and dylan have been so good and really enjoyed being home together for longer then a few weeks or broken apart months! they're coming up on their seventh dating anniversary, and beginning to talk about what the next step might look like. they're been living together since season two of teen wolf, which was a year before they started dating, but neither one is completely sold on whether they want to go through with marriage. they have no doubt that the rest of their lives will be spent happily together and as one, but the idea of getting married never really stuck out to them!
scotland has an eating disorder that goes hand in hand with OCD that manifested after a childhood of travel between modeling jobs and bicoastal co-parenting. she's been strictly a vegan for almost nine years as a way to ensure that she's always healthy and so she doesn't feel to guilt about the foods she's eating, but recently she's started to introduce chicken (which dylan is absolutely thrilled about) fish, and a few dairy products. being home has given her the chance to actually feel comfortable with how far she's willing to push past her comfort zones and find new things out about herself. she's also overly plagued by baby fever!
she had her head on dylan's chest one afternoon, scrolling through moodboard on her pintrest account when the cutest pastel themed nursery caught her attention. they're in no way ready for a baby, but scotland can just imagine a tiny baby the two of them sharing her eyes and strawberry hair but every other quality being strictly dylan's. they both think a baby is the perfect next step, but in a few years time when hopefully the pandemic has calmed down and it's not so high risk.
the conversation goes like that:
"baby." scotland coos, looking up at dylan whose entire focus is on the old baseball game. he hummed in her general direction, his fingers brushing through her hair absentmindedly. "can we have a baby?"
he has to pause the game after that question, his whiskey eyes wide and caught off guard. scotland giggles at his reaction, pressing a kiss to the dip between his collarbone, "not right now, silly! but one day, can we?"
they'd never really talked about kids. dylan knew she wanted a few, having grown up with a large family, but they were both at the high of their career and never had time to imagine little hands and feet.
"one day." he promises gently, "i'd like that."
