Cleon insanity when Claire is like "hey have you ever wanted kids" and Leons whole world comes collapsing on itself yet again because actually, he has just Not thought about them, he never thought he'd be in a position where he could just have a family ever in his life as of yet, and when he did think about it he pushed it away because he thought he'd never be good at it anyways given his circumstances.

And the worst thing, Claire knows this. But she wants to invite him to try that kind of life both of them know it will be extremely difficult to achieve. Because she wants him to know he's still human, and isn't incapable of living what one would describe as the normal life to live just because of his past, or trauma. She herself also deals with the struggle if she'll ever be able to have a life like that, like she sort of imagined when she was a child. Perhaps not children, but...just make a family out of her partner. Spouses, making life what they want, making a home, traveling, making something together. She still holds the hope she can have that, and that other's can.

That's why she fights so hard so that other's can also live that life, or any life they desire without fearing they'd be incapable to do so given the state of the world. Making a family, marrying, having a partner or someone to take care of is now something that could so easily turn into you needing to kill them in the end, or them killing you, or both of you. But she won't let that get in the way of her or other's happiness because she believes connection is the most important thing in a human life.

And she wants that for Leon, share that with him.

oh man its so random, but i either use the name lumi or clora for everything whenever i play rpgs (baldurs gate 3, dragon age, you name it) and clora originated from rune factory 4 LOL. theres a character named 'clorica' and i really liked that name, it sounds so elegant and fantasy ish, so i eventually just shortened it to clora bahaha. now its my go-to. i like how simple it is but it also sounds unique and works in modern AND fantasy settings, imo

my first and ONLY playthrough was as clora! i originally did try to make myself at the start, but i have short brown hair and straight across bangs, and they didnt have a style that felt 'me', so i went with just making a ravenclaw that i liked, and then gave her my go-to name of clora HAHA. and yea, i built up her and sebs relationship in my head as i was playing, especially with all the running around the castle i did. i just liked to imagine her constantly out of breath and flushed and seb just watching like ....��girl chill...

AND SPEAKING OF MY DARK RELIC COMIC/SMUT, my biggest advice for writing smut id say is to have a reasoning behind it, i guess? i focus a lot on their headspace/WHY they're fucking at that moment when i write it LOL instead of just the movements/sex for the sake of sex. in your case, the sexual tension leading up to the first time gives you SO much to work with, since you can just be in his head with how much hes looking forward to it, how much hes savouring it, how he's also nervous but enjoying it and trusting the other person, etc. the thoughts are hotter than the actual deed a lot of the times (which is why when clora and seb did it for the first time it ended up being like, 15k words of just foreplay and build up from sebs perspective LMAOO) so yeah id just try to focus on their emotions and desires if you can! and a lot of the times with consent stuff it CAN feel forced, and you dont even really need your characters to talk about that stuff verbally, at least not too much. you can do it in body language, or just something as simple as 'ill stop if you want'. it doesnt have to be a long therapist-like conversation about consent, which CAN tend to sound a little awkward and unrealistic (esp in the heat of the moment), if thats the problem you're having. HOPE I COULD HELP

the fun thing about durgetash for me as far as definitely toxic ships go, is that gortash and durge, as individuals, are toxic. but the ship itself? not toxic at all in my take. because as horrible as they are as people, the love they have for each other is actually very genuine. everyone else in the world is dust under their boots except for each other. they truly respect each other and get along frighteningly well and listen to each other and support each other’s atrocities and so, if you ignore the screaming of their victims in the background, their relationship is actually kind of healthy.

to be fair: this is with my version of them in mind lol i know other people have spicer takes where they ARE actively toxic to each other and such, and those are fun too but ive gotten so into the version of them where they both just exude toxicity to everyone in their lives EXCEPT each other. it’s already a trope im very weak to but its especially crazy with them. its like they cancel each other out somehow lol

like i think it takes a while to get to that point of course, to build up actual trust enough to feel even slightly safe around each other, but once they open up to each other the affection-starvation just jumps out. and then despite everything they manage to actually be gentle with each other. and neither of them deserves gentleness of any sort, but they get it anyway, from each other.

so for me durgetash is “toxic” only by virtue of the individuals involved being horrible terrible people, and because they gleefully support each other’s evil plans, and not because of how they actually treat each other, which is actually the closest thing to “normal” either of them will ever experience (and it is still so, so far from “normal” lol)

but it’s still also nice to be in a ship where the discourse is so obvious we don’t even bother lol. yes gortash has a list of human rights abuses longer than he is tall. yes he’s gonna have an evil cuddle with his evil partner-in-crime in their evil bedroom after a long, hard day of being evil. and i’m gonna be thinking about it <3

I think durgetash just works because...they are so blatantly evil.

Gortash tortured a bunch of people trying to figure out how tadpoles worked, and the evidence of his crimes is in the mindflayer colony beneath Moonrise and in the Steel Watch Foundry. His Steel Watch guards literally kill children and innocent families.

The Dark Urge mentions killing (eating?) a BABY. They have killed thousands. They eat human meat. They torture people.

They both started the entire plot by being total pieces of shit.

So what are you going to do?

Cancel them???

The game cancels them.

Gortash literally got cancelled so hard his brain popped.

The Dark Urge dies in most playthroughs. They only become redeemable by literally dying and becoming a new person. Plus their life is so fucking awful, that it almost cancels out how bad they are, because they're a vessel of Bhaal, who can either choose obedience or death.

They are both so outrageously evil, you can't even be outraged.

No one on the entire planet is defending either of them.

It almost defeats itself as an argument, like, you say Gortash is horrible, and I say yeah, man. You say, the Dark Urge is evil, and I say absolutely.

But that's kind of why...a relationship between the two of them IS so good, though.

Sure, there have always been villainous ships, but...something about these jagged creatures having a soft spot for one another...

It just works.

It's...it's taking two wretched beasts, and giving them something human to hold between their claws.

How can you support them being together, but how could you deny them this?

i keep 5 versions of sans that are Ever So Slightly Different According to How I Interpret Different Details simultaneously rotating in my brain at all times. so uhhhhh yes and no.

jokes aside, I'm starting to gravitate more towards the interpretation that like... the threat he made at the restaurant? full on jackassery. shithead extraordinaire. he WAS messing with us.

...yeah i think so. let me elaborate

here's the thing though: i think people put way too much weight on that! i mean it's a fighting RPG, every single other character—bar toriel—fights you to either capture and have you sent to the capital or to kill you themselves. either way they want your SOUL. papyrus... is his own neutral case here with his refusal to kill you.

my point being: every monster you meet wants to fight you. it's through that fight (or what happens afterwards) that you actively challenge their point of view and befriend them.

you don't go through this with sans. he never fights you, so you never need to change his mind because that belief was challenged before we even got to the underground, through toriel's words alone. that's... kind of admirable?

but it does frame his actions in a very creepy way from our point of view in-game. not to forget his dumbass scary pranks. because we go from someone a bit mysterious though ultimately friendly and goofy whom we thought we could trust, to someone who openly tells us he could've been a threat for us... and then never delivers. at least, not in any playthrough where we hear that line of dialogue.

so much of sans' character and appearance stems from tonal dissonance. he's shamelessly comfortable in the game's tone and vibes, but still stands out as an outsider. he plainly doesn't play by the same rules as everyone else, so we don't judge him by the same standards, either.

even more, if he actually kept his promise the way toriel meant it, that would've meant playing the entire game like a tutorial. sure, you can enjoy the story, but did you enjoy playing the section in the RUINs when she's with us? it's basically handholding the entire time. it's BORING for us, and ultimately, Undertale is a game! so it should be enjoyable to its player. which brings me to our next point:

ultimately... yeah maybe he would've tried to kill us. and yes it is kinda shitty that he only kept his promise by not doing that. in a sans characteristic troll way, i mean. but acting like the "sans was happy to watch a baby get beat up and killed" jokes are, well, anything other than jokes is just a plain bad reading. forget about post pacifist. during a gameplay, frisk IS the Human IS us IS the PLAYER. which means capable of RESET and SAVE. which means essentially immortal, at the end of the day. it's the "special power" sans tells us about in his judgement. you can't treat us with the same moral lenses as an NPC. the power we hold over their world in the game is lovecraftian. we can literally destroy it entirely, an outcome that was scientifically predicted by some characters in the game...

...sans being one of them. every interaction with you, every joke and every hand extended in friendship and eye closed to your shenanigans. all of it, the good and the not-so-good. it's all colored with the knowledge that the "human" in front of him could end the world. whether you actually do that or not.

this is one of my favorite moments in the canon. one time. one second where the mask slips and we see through the cracks in the façade of laid back confidence. and what we see is a mirror, held up to our face.

and it's fucking terrifying.

i have a few other opinions on this topic that i feel are relevant, but I don't feel like putting them into a coherent argument so I'll just list them instead:

there are some collateral factors that i think would've prevented him from killing us outside of toriel's promise. mainly the fact that papyrus was feeling down and meeting a real human would've cheered him up. then he would've befriended us because of course he would, and of course sans wasn't going to kill his brother's new bestie.

so would he have fought us in a pacifist or papyrus-friendly netral run? maybe not! but he WOULD'VE whooped ass sooner if things got out of hand.

it's kind of a given that sans figures out you can manipulate time very early into the game. he works for/with asgore, who knows from first-hand child-murder experiences that it's an ability humans have, he's a scientist who studied the space-time continuum of their world and he's a friend of alphys', the royal scientist who studied human souls and determination (and let's not even get into his connections to gaster). he's a bright lad. he put two and two together.

while he COULD have seen taking a humans' soul as a necessary evil for monsterkind's freedom (promise to toriel aside) he openly sympathized with the anomaly. he's not there to be a time cop. he just wants to avoid the literal annihilation of the universe.

"Im just strong" you smile and flex a bit.

"Captain even i can see how much you struggle carring things out there...you need to lighten your load more" Sam continues to watch as you drop more and more things.

"Well maybe ill have you hold onto stuff for me?" You look back handing Sam some lock picks and other items. Sam rolls his eyes ans grabs onto the things.

"Anything for you captain" he smiles and watches as you go back to sorting the items.

After some time you're finally finished.

"How does it look!" You smile finally laying on your bed. Sam stands up and walks around. Noting all the random items you have places.

"Looks like a mess. But a good one?"

You smile up at the cowboy and pat his shoulder.

"Its amazing i know" you let go and signal Sam to follow you as you both go downstairs. Sarah telling you both about a distress signal coming from Barret and Heller.

"Well Sam you ready to go out?" You look at him once again focusing on finding your friend.

"Sure lets do it"

And with that you take the information and head out. Getting settled in your ship and flying out. Landing on the Mining Outpost you get out and speak to Lin. One of the first people there to start this whole journey. After a second of Small talk Lin shows and tells you that Barret and Heller have been taken by the Crimson Fleet. She tells you to look through a computer to find more clues.

Sam follows you in, not knowing how much information you knew about barret or heller.

"So this is where your story with us started huh?" Sam goes off looking at some things thrown around

"Yeah... Honestly when i woke up Lin was quiet hostile. But Heller was quiet nice to me." You say finally figuring out the problem. You both head outside collecting power cells.

"Interesting by the way. Did you ever think you'd join constellation?"

"No not really. But one touch of the artifact changed it i guess.."

You both turned on the power and you looked through the computer. Finding more clues and evidence as to where to go. You're mainly silent and overall a bit confused. Two of the people you would like to call friends have been captured. And Sam could tell it was hurtful to you.

You talk to Lin and leave to to Prax. The planet where they crashed.

As you land you and sam walk a long way to what seemed to be a crash. Running up you see heller laying down.

"Heller!" You run faster and bend down by Heller. He gives you a small smile. Sam finally catches up and watches as you help heller.

"What happened where is Barrett?" You frantically try to help Heller. Sam coming in to try to help but heller just pushes you both away.

"Listen im okay. Im fine, i took painkillers and im fine to wait. Although Captain i appreciate the worry. You know how Barret can be...do i really need to tell you what happened?" He laughs grabbing onto your hand for support as he sits up a bit. Sam noticed and steps back a bit. Letting you handle it all.

You listen to Hellers explanation. Heller giving you more clues and directions to find Barret. You give Heller more supplies and you and sam make the long walk back to the ship.

"So how close where You and Heller?" Sam asked keeping his tone neutral.

"Honestly not that close. Hes a good guy but, i think i just hate seeing people i know hurt no matter what."

Sam nods letting whatever he thought go back to the back of his head.

"Where you jealous space cowboy?" You laugh a bit bumping into sam.

"What? No? Why would i of all people be jealous?" Sam bumps you back.

"Well maybe i just guessed how youre feeling"

"No need for jealous feelings when i actively get to travel with you" sam grins, catching a glimpse of you. You don't know why but it makes your heart melt.

"Whatever cowboy"

The rest of the walk is a bit silent. Small talk about Cora and life on the Mining Outpost.

It was calming. You both got back to the ship and left to find barret.

Once you landed you began your walk.

"Wouldn't it be great if someone like made a thing where we didnt have to walk everywhere?" Sam laughs taking out his gun knowing we are getting close to the base.

"I know right...would make travel much easier" as you sais that a bullet ran past your face. You look up to see one of the towers watchers pointing a gun at you from miles away. You duck down and pull out your own weapon

"Ok lets do this quick please. If we can avoid the people we should" you begin to run with sam behind you. Taking out a few Crimson fleet members and running into the main base. Sam following behind and locking the door behind him. You two hear talking in the distance and you both crouch down. Slowly walking to the talking.

Sam begins to whisper to you

"Whenever we can, can uh we talk?"

You turn back confused

"You want to talk...now?"

"No.. Just whenever we are free..."

"As you say...when we are trying to save barret" you laugh a bit and turn the corner. Confused as you're seeing barret talking casually to Matsura. The Captain.

"Ok After this we can talk?" Sam Nods as you slowly approach Barret and Matsura

You know Matsuras a deadly man but see Barret completely fine

"Whats going on here?" You ask slowly putting you Weapon down.

"I just made a new friend Captain" barret adjusted himself getting more comfortable.

A dumbfounded look on your face was all he needed to explain himself.

Matsura still wanted something out of this all. But you convinced him to let Barret go as its all been too much trouble for someone now considered a friend. Sam liked the way you could get out of situations without violence. He smiled at how happy you were to comfortably set a friend free without hurting those who may be able to get away without violence.

You all said goodbye as Barret followed you both on the Ship. A little confused about how you all would fit comfortably until you got back to The lodge.

As you were sailing the Stars to go back home you sense someone behind you.

"Hey captain mind if we talk?" You put the ship to cruise, and turn around to look at sam.

"Whats up?"

"The way you handle things is not bad..not bad" you smile at sams words.

"So how much of a thrill has it been Traveling with the one, and only last descendant of The Great Solomon Coe? Is it everything you imagined?"

"It doesnt matter to me that you're a Coe sam...but You are thrilling indeed" you give him a genuine look. Making sure he knew you really meant it.

"Ha- you're something else"

"I gatta say it's a relief being with you...So many people hear Coe and Expect me to pull a miracle out of a hat, time has a way of Just Building on itself.. Solomon was a good man. Great one even. But if he ever heard All the Bullshit being said about him these days... Well he'd flat out deck them"

"Why do they all Rever him so much?"

"Theres books about him, a couple of them"Sam goes on to talk about Solomon. Talling stories about his great adventures and successes.

"Sounds like you arent too happy to be related to such a high up person"

"I am...and not...there was a time, well before cora. where it really weighed on me. felt like everything i did or didnt do was a reflection on our Great legacy... Its enough to drive you crazy... Now i just hope i can help cora to..well i don't know"

"Sam Cora is great. You're doing a good job raising her.."

"Your kind words are appreciated. for my father, cora me..everything starts and ends with Solomon Coe. He looked at the starts and dreamed a way to get there. Imaging being the first person to a new system, set foot on a new world. Hell i get it that's some powerful stuff. And now-"

Sam laughs a bit

"I'm just Getting sappy. You're a bad influence you know that"

"Oh i have my wiles Mr.Coe"

"I believe that be the most honest thing you've said" sam chuckles a bit sitting down on a nearby chair.

"Well i hope that Comic book they make on our adventures is better thab that rag on solomon"

"The stuff they publish is just damn right embarrassing"

You laugh at sams hate on solomons comics

"You are funny Cowboy. I like traveling with you and cora... Some of my favorite people now ya know?" You smile and turn back around. Finally going to the lodge.
