i feel bad when non-native English speakers apologise for making mistakes or getting confused like babe no you're doing great. this isn't on you. the fact that I've seen so many native English speakers mispronounce the word pronunciation and misspell the word spelling should tell you everything you need to know about this goddamn language.

You’re Doing Great

Warnings: captivity, restraints, torture, drugs, drugging, gag

“Oh, Whumpee, you’re doing great!” Whumper cooed as they stroked Whumpee’s sweaty head. “You only tried to rip away from the table twice that time.”

Whumpee could barely hear Whumper over the ringing in their ears. Ever since Whumper had strapped them to the table, taped their mouth over with duct tape, and injected them with a drug that made their whole body feel as though they were on fire, Whumpee couldn’t hear over the roaring in their ears. They sobbed in response to Whumper. 

“This next one,” Whumper said excitedly, “is a new cocktail I came up with myself. You’ll be the first subject for it.”

Whumpee tried to pull away as Whumper lined the syringe up with the crook of their arm. They couldn’t endure anymore experiments. No more. 

“I recommend taking a deep breath, Whumpee. Who knows what this will do to you?” And they injected Whumpee with the drug. 

Whumpee wasn’t sure if their heart was pounding in terror or in response to the drug. As they began to relax, they realized that perhaps that was the effect of the drug. They welcomed the relief from pain. Welcomed the cool sensation that filled them. Welcomed the...the...the....

But Whumpee couldn’t complete the thought as they were sucked under by the drug’s influence. Their mind went blank as their heart began to race out of control. Their body was calm as they struggled to breathe. Their face was pleasant was Whumper stroked their cheek and cooed praises at them. 

And Whumpee was utterly peaceful as Whumper pulled out another syringe that promised endless pain.

Sometimes I start catastrophizing things like 'OMG I don't have every aspect of my life planned to a the letter!! What am I going to do?? I failed.'

And then I step back and I actually think about it rationally for a bit and I remember that I'm 18 I don't need to have everything worked out.

As someone who has been part of the langblr community here for some time now, I want to let you know it's okay to slow down. It's okay if you did not fulfill your goals for this week. It's okay your language learning is not going as planned. You're teaching yourself a whole new language! You know how cool that is?
