Greetings Friends,
The eastern osprey is a diurnal, fish-eating bird of prey. They live in Oceania at coastal regions of the Australian continent, the Indonesian islands, New Guinea, and the Philippines. It is usually sedentary and pairs breed at the same nest site, building up a substantial structure on dead trees or limbs.

Greetings Friends, When we consider the color red and its meaning, particularly in relation to it as the color of the Root chakra, we find the significance to be deeply linked to the Earth. The Root chakra is associated with our basic survival needs, resources, stability, security and all manner of grounding spirit energy into both the body and the Earth. The color red is affiliated with our passions and strong emotions around heat, fire, anger and love. Thus, the color red represents a strong connection to this material world and our emotional experiences along our life journey. When we depart this world, we let go of all our earthly and emotional attachments. To witness a red dragonfly around death is a comforting reminder that in our letting go of material and emotional trappings, we are being set free. #dragonfly #macro #nature #insects #insect #naturephotography #dragonflies #dragonflyphotography #macrophotography #photography #wildlife #insectphotography #perfection #insectsofinstagram #naturelovers #odonata #libelle #libellule #dragonfliesofinstagram #of #art #captures #wildlifephotography #love #photooftheday #world #dragonflys #ig #bhfyp #uwe_foto (at Cooroy, Queensland) https://www.instagram.com/p/CpodhIXNHDL/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Greetings Friends, Red dragonflies can be rare to view, and very special when the opportunity comes along. Yet, interestingly, they often appear to people surrounding life episodes of loss and death; perhaps a bit of an oxymoron that these lovely winged creatures are present at such times. But the meaning of red dragonfly includes both good and bad omens: one of eternal love and one of death. This paradox embraces the polarities we find in life, and as such, it is not surprising the red dragonfly makes an appearance at moments of death and loss. Death is the polarity of Life, and upon departing this realm, we most likely return to our home of eternal love. Red dragonfly symbolism and death are intimately entwined as the end of life’s illusions through transformation. #dragonfly #macro #nature #insects #insect #naturephotography #dragonflies #dragonflyphotography #macrophotography #photography #wildlife #insectphotography #perfection #insectsofinstagram #naturelovers #odonata #libelle #libellule #dragonfliesofinstagram #of #art #captures #wildlifephotography #love #photooftheday #world #dragonflys #ig #bhfyp #uwe_foto (at Cooroy, Queensland) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cpgujj8oHet/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Greetings Friends, I was so very lucky that almost 6 years ago being part of an expedition cruise organised by the by the Oceanwide Expedition Group to the North Pole. The Adventure started in Longyearbyen the town closest to the Pole. Here the visual impressions I've got touring this part of the world in June 2017. What brought Willem Barentsz to Spitsbergen, later SvalbardBarentsz discovered Spitsbergen by accident during his famous third voyage, the purpose of which was to find a sea route to China. This route became known as the Northeast Passage. What Barentsz found instead was Bjørnøya, or Bear Island, the southernmost island of the Svalbard archipelago, in June of 1596. A week later, he discovered the northwestern coast of the largest island, Spitsbergen. The sharp-peaked mountains Barentsz saw on that coast inspired the name. #spitsbergen #svalbard #arctic #visitsvalbard #norway #longyearbyen #nature #mittsvalbard #travel #visitnorway #spitzbergen #naturephotography #svalbardlife #wildlife #polarbear #norge #landscape #expedition #unisvalbard #travelphotography #landscapephotography #svalbardposten #utno #arcticcircle #polar #auroraborealis #winter #snow #uwe_foto #uwewullfenphotography (at Longyearbyen) https://www.instagram.com/p/CpE2_GYMV-B/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Here the visual impressions I've got touring this part of the world in June 2017 Possible medieval discoveries of Svalbard by Vikings or PomorsSome scholars believe the Vikings, who were active in the area of Svalbard during the Middle Ages, were the first to discover it. Starting in the 1800s, Norwegian historians began asserting that Vikings discovered the region as early as 1194. They base this claim on maps and annals that list a place called Svalbarði (the basis for the name Svalbard, which translates to “cold rim”) roughly a four-day sail from Iceland. No physical remains have been found, however, that support this claim. Russian historians, on the other hand, believe the Pomors may have landed at Svalbard back in the 1400s. But as with the Vikings, no physical evidence substantiates this. #spitsbergen #svalbard #arctic #visitsvalbard #norway #longyearbyen #nature #mittsvalbard #travel #visitnorway #spitzbergen #naturephotography #svalbardlife #wildlife #polarbear #norge #landscape #expedition #unisvalbard #travelphotography #landscapephotography #svalbardposten #utno #arcticcircle #polar #auroraborealis #winter #snow #uwe_foto #uwewullfenphotography (at Longyearbyen) https://www.instagram.com/p/CpEa8fzsGoS/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

The Adventure started in Longyearbyen the town closest to the Pole. Here the visual impressions I've got touring this part of the world in June 2017. The Rush for Whale Oil In 1607, when Englishman Henry Hudson announced that the waters around Svalbard were full of bowhead whales, whalers flocked to the islands in search of lucrative whale oil. Whale hunters and seamen from the Netherlands, England, Spain, France, Germany and Denmark nearly emptied the sea of its whale population through the 1600s. During this period, Svalbard and its surroundings were marked as “terra nullius”, meaning that it was considered a no-man’s-land that belonged to no jurisdiction or country, free for all. That didn’t stop the two main whaling nations, the Dutch and the English, from carving up the whaling waters amongst themselves. It was agreed the English would hunt south of the Magdalenefjord, while the Dutch hunted the north-western corner of Spitsbergen. Other countries were forced to make separate deals with the two nations, much to their chagrin. #spitsbergen #svalbard #arctic #visitsvalbard #norway #longyearbyen #nature #mittsvalbard #travel #visitnorway #spitzbergen #naturephotography #svalbardlife #wildlife #polarbear #norge #landscape #expedition #unisvalbard #travelphotography #landscapephotography #svalbardposten #utno #arcticcircle #polar #auroraborealis #winter #snow #uwe_foto #uwewullfenphotography (at Longyearbyen) https://www.instagram.com/p/CpCpE9SsGob/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Some of these were historical voyages meant to reach the North Pole. Nowadays polar enthusiasts travel to Svalbard to see glaciers, tundra, and exotic wildlife. In Virgohamna, on the island of Danskøya, you can see the remains of several historic expeditions that used this remote bay as their basecamp. The most famous of these expeditions is that of Salomon Andrée, from 1897, the artifacts of which can still be viewed there. Obviously, our own Svalbard trips are much safer and more comfortable, giving you the chance to spot polar bears, walruses, whales, seals, and a wide variety of seabirds, and all while engaging in such immersive activities as shoreline hikes, kayak trips, Zodiac cruises, and more. #spitsbergen #svalbard #arctic #visitsvalbard #norway #longyearbyen #nature #mittsvalbard #travel #visitnorway #spitzbergen #naturephotography #svalbardlife #wildlife #polarbear #norge #landscape #expedition #unisvalbard #travelphotography #landscapephotography #svalbardposten #utno #arcticcircle #polar #auroraborealis #winter #snow #uwe_foto #uwewullfenphotography (at Longyearbyen) https://www.instagram.com/p/CpB1lUAsePU/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
