I am filled with a great anxiety when the car stops.

Whether it be at stoplights, traffic, or even when I've reached my destination.

I quite enjoy car rides, my ears filled with music,

the hypnotising sights that run by the window.

These fleeting sights bring me great joy,

such great joy that when they stop for even a moment,

I am struck with dread.

Such dread that my limbs begin to shake and the bile rises up my throat.

I long for this conveyor belt of visions to keep going, to be never-ending,

an urge to never fully arrive at my destination.

Although only an ounce of my attention is focused outside the window, these continuous flashes of images serves a certain sense of calm as my mind runs rampant.

I hate sleeping.

I hate the act of going into a reduced state of consciousness, an invitation for the unnecessary visions that taunt me at night.

. . .

I hate getting these nightmares;

a rude awakening,

a cruel reminder of what was and what is,

a memory that will stay predominant in my head and haunt me for the rest of that disturbing night.

. . .

This state of vulnerability disgusts me, but the longer I run from it the worse it'll be the next time.

So now I sit up in bed;

uneasiness clouding me,

paranoia taking over,

desperately trying to distract myself from the horrors my mind puts together just for me.

Cavetown hits hard 2 in the morning.

The subtle melodies coupled with heavy lyrics, perfectly complimenting the empty Night.

Catches one off guard to be honest. Just when you begin expecting a simple lullaby, you start hearing the language. Implicitly sending through waves of comfortable agony.

They almost lull me to sleep, and for those few minutes I'm rid of my worries.

His music makes me so vulnerable I don't think I could ever listen to it with anyone else around.

It's a talent really, to create such harmony that allows you to lower your guard for even just a second.

All music is good (of course with the exception of country I'm sorry but I have to be biased there), but some music just forces you to ascend into a new realm.

Insomnia tip #1

For all those seasoned veterans that spend their nights staring at the ceiling, I've got the perfect thing to make that a little less painful.

Stick butterflies (cut out from wafer paper or any type of flowy-like paper) onto the ceiling right above your bed.

This way when you look up, instead of a taunting cinder block ceiling you can enjoy the dance of a dozen butterflies.

Use different colours, be creative.

Bonus: If you switch on the AC after sticking the butterflies, they'll start moving as if they're flying (hence the use of wafer paper).

What genius came up with the idea of roller coasters. Like were they sitting in a bar, drunk asf n just went "yo let's build a floating rail track mid air and shove a cart full of ppl off it and hope to satan they don't fall off"
