“Poetry is the hero of philosophy. Philosophy raises poetry to the status of a principle. It teaches us to recognize the worth of poetry. Philosophy is the theory of poetry. It shows us what poetry is, that it is one and all.”
— Novalis, Logological Fragments II

What advice do you have for a 14 year old girl?
This is so vague I love it. The voices you are hearing are real, god is speaking to you. The nation of France needs you. Don your armor, take up arms, lead the French army. This is your destiny, joan. When the flames come for you let them lick your bones and laugh.

streaks of sun
blink the breeze away
gold as honey
the day twinkles
with a soft
mischievous whisper
as if only i am living it
making shapes
beautiful and simple
to the nude eye
leading me down
the melting road
transcending beyond this
butter gilded dream
melody on the radio
filling my ears with softness
stirring a yearning in me
that timidly wishes
the liquid gold of the afternoon
would solidify
into substance
maybe the phantasm touch
that gently grazes me
could fossilise
coagulate
strong as stone
thick as blood
into tender flesh and bone
as the incandescence of the eve
seems all too brilliant
for me to conceal
nurtured for my own gaze
my heartstrings tear
away from my core
sighs its surrender
and twist themselves
around the scintilla of hope that
the saffron dapple promises
and quietly
and momentarily
a luminescent goodness
decides i can keep this moment
if only for one more shaky breath

i got my first tattoo when i was fourteen.
it reminded me of you.
its soft edges, its beauty.
the adrenaline.
it was like nothing i had ever felt before.
i could not stop looking in the mirror,
because i knew that i would see it again.
it was my favourite tattoo.
now i want to scrub it off my skin.
it is naivety, foolishness.
it is sickness.
i am sixteen and pure, and i want it removed forever,
but that only means more pain.
i hide it under sweaters,
in hopes that i will forget,
in hopes that i can get other tattoos that will feel nicer, feel fresh.
in hopes that maybe you never even existed in the first place.
