JEKYLL & HYDE Movie Sides: “The Confrontation”

So it was announced in 2019 that Alexander Dinelaris would write the movie and direct it.

I would like to share how I would like to see the iconic “Confrontation” scene play out on screen.

EXT: JEKYLL’S HOUSE-WINDOW-NIGHT

We can see into JEKYLL’S LABRATORY, the doctor’s back to the camera.

INT: JEKYLL’S LABRATORY

JEKYLL is standing in front of a basin scrubbing his hands of LUCY’S blood. A mirror is hanging above the basin.

SONG: THE CONFRONTATION

JEKYLL

It's over now!

I know inside!

No one will ever know

The sorry tale of Edward Hyde

And those who died

No one must ever know!

They're only see the tragedy

They'd not see my intent.

The shadow of Hyde's evil

Would forever kill the good that I had meant!

(Jekyll has scrubbed the blood off his left hand, but his hand is still red. He lowers his head, looking into the reddened water in the basin.)

JEKYLL (cont’d)

Am I a good man?

Am I a mad man?

It's such a fine line

Between a good man and a…

HYDE (O.S.)

Do you really think

That I would ever let you go?

(Startled, JEKYLL jumps. He no longer sees his reflection in the mirror. It’s just HYDE looking back at him, smirking.)

HYDE (cont’d)

Do you think I'd ever set you free?

If you do, I'm sad to say,

It simply isn't so.

You will never get away from me!

JEKYLL (closing his eyes, denying what he sees)

All that you are is a face in the mirror!

I close my eyes and you disappear!

HYDE

I'm what you face

When you face in the mirror!

Long as you live, I will still be here!

JEKYLL

All that you are

Is the end of a nightmare!

All that you are is a dying scream!

After tonight,

I shall end this demon dream!

HYDE

This is not a dream, my friend

And it will never end!

This one is the nightmare that goes on!

Hyde is here to stay,

No matter what you may pretend

And he'll flourish long after you're gone!

JEKYLL

Soon you will die,

And my memory will hide you!

You cannot choose but to lose control!

HYDE

You can't control me!

I live deep inside you!

Each day you'll feel me devour your soul!

JEKYLL

I don't need you to survive

Like you need me!

I'll become whole

As you dance with death!

And I'll rejoice

As you breathe your final breath!

(We then hear HYDE’S VOICE is coming from inside his head, ringing loud over JEKYLL’S thought. JEKYLL covers his ears.)

HYDE

No, I'll live inside you forever!

JEKYLL

No!

HYDE

With Satan himself by my side!

And I know that now and forever,

They'll never be able to separate

Jekyll from Hyde!

(The music suddenly stops. JEKYLL screeches as he grabs the mirror and throws it on the floor, shattering the glass.

There is a pause, then.)

JEKYLL (panting)

Can’t… you… see it’s….over now?!

(JEKYLL looks over at his lab table and begins to walk over.)

JEKYLL (cont’d)

Time to die.

(HYDE jumps in, his voice coming out of JEKYLL’S mouth.)

HYDE

No, not I; only you!

JEKYLL

If I die, you will too!

(Suddenly, JEKYLL’S left hand grabs at his own throat. The doctor stops it with his other hand. HYDE is taking control of it.)

HYDE

You’ll die in me and I’ll be you!

JEKYLL

Damn you, Hyde. Leave me be.

HYDE

Can’t you see? You are me!

JEKYLL

No! Deep inside…

HYDE

I am pure; YOU are HYDE!

(HYDE looks like he is gaining the upper hand. JEKYLL’S left hand comes closer to his neck, ready to strangle him.)

JEKYLL

No! Never!

HYDE (mockingly)

Yes! Forever!

(He starts choking him! JEKYLL’s right hand tightens its grip on his left.)

JEKYLL (rasping)

Goddamn you, Hyde! Take all your evil deeds and rot in hell!

(The music swells until, with an incredible jerk, the doctor breaks his left wrist. SNAP!

HYDE screams; then we no longer hear his voice out of JEKYLL’S mouth. He snarls.)

HYDE (O.S.)

I’ll see you there, Jekyll.

(JEKYLL drops to his knees, holding his broken wrist.)

JEKYLL (from desperation and pain)

Never!

(He falls to his side, passing out.)

What I imagine might happen to Amber Heard, as described like a biography.

“In 2021, Heard lost the defamation lawsuit filed by Johnny Depp and was ordered to pay $50 million. Instead, she filed for bankruptcy.

“Facing five years in prison for her perjury, and staging a crime scene, she pled guilty and betrayed her co-conspirators in exchange for a one year sentence. Enraged, Whitney disowned her. Their father passed away during her prison term and Bianca Butti left her.

“Heard planned to resume her career, but she had been dropped by her agency, ostracized by Hollywood, and dismissed as a spokesperson by L’Oréal. Broke and blacklisted, she reluctantly retired to her home state of Texas. She had nobody; so, she was only able to get there by bus.

“The former actress struggled to find employment due to her past. Heard had tried to get a seat on 15 nonprofit organizations to rehabilitate her image, but was rejected by all of them. She resorted to street-walking and received welfare.

“While Depp remained sober, a depressed Heard suffered a relapse from which she never recovered. She died alone in the kitchen of her studio apartment at 42 after suffering from cirrhosis and congestive heart failure. When the landlord discovered her, she had jaundiced skin and eyes, very short hair, was emaciated, and there were countless empty beer bottles and cans on the floor.

“As her family did not claim her body, she was cremated and her ashes scattered into the wind.”

A remake of the Phantom of the Opera?

Right now, it’s highly unlikely

What I think Warner Bros should do is release a new DVD edition to the movie with Gerard’s singing dubbed over.

Or better yet they could just release a new soundtrack with Gerard’s singing replaced.

WHO IS WITH ME??

Because the biggest turn off for me about this movie is Gerard’s singing. But I don’t blame him. I blame Joel Schumacher for casting him or not having someone else do the singing.

I thought they would never make Jekyll and Hyde into movie! So HAPPY!

I just hope they get the casting right. No substandard singers and especially no transposing the songs.

I still believe Luke Evans should be considered for the lead, with Samantha Barks for Lucy.
