The trope where a character overhears something out of context and assumes the worst is usually annoying and bad but I really think it works well in Shrek
We, the audience, know that Fiona is talking about herself but, regardless, she’s calling herself these terrible things because she is an ogre. If Fiona is these things because she is is an ogre what does that make Shrek?
If Fiona says no one could love her because she is an ogre, she is saying that Shrek is also unloveable whether she wants to or not.
Imo the scene is a really good portrayal of how when you talk poorly of yourself or others for having a trait, you’re also talking about every other person who shares that trait; even if you love them or think what you’re saying doesn’t apply to them.
My favorite genre of musical theatre songs is "Girl Has A Hobby." They never had a bad run! "Watch What Happens?" BANGER! "I Know It's Today?" BANGER! "I Love Play Reharsal?" BANGER! "Hiding In Your Hands?" WE WERE ROBBED!
I wanted to drive my father to the hospital after a pregnancy test he tried turned out positive, but instead we went to a lavished villa with a pool. From that pool, Thanos came out of it wearing nothing but a red G-string and he took us to watch ''Shrek: the musical''.
So in Shrek, all the fairy tail creatures get sent to the swamp, and then when Shrek goes to get his swamp back he’s told that his swamp is on the land of the kingdom so it’s not really his. Does this mean that Lord Farquaad sent the fairy tail creature to the ogre’s swamp on purpose so that they would all be killed?
Pulling myself from my hiatus to talk about the new Shrek the Musical tour
We…lost a lot of music and I'm not too happy. Ballad of Farquaad and Don’t Let Me Go especially make me upset since those were big numbers? So, I guess the Farquaad backstory is gone? Cool 😐
Otherwise, I (hoped) assumed the other changes would happen like the removal of the T slur and bipolar. Fiona’s new line feels clunky though:
“Though I seem a bit erratic / I’m a find, I’m a catch, you can find me in the attic”
