girl help i was musing abt an au with shen yuan as mobei-jun’s little brother but now i can’t stop picturing it like. a portal opens and a very intimidating ice demon steps out. then a few seconds later another portal opens and a smaller, more delicate looking ice demon steps out and lines up beside the first. they’re wearing the same style of clothes and identical facial expressions, and despite the fact that the expression is cold, cold, cold, the overall effect puts one rather in mind of this:

Like, it’s so much clearer this time around that acting clingy/weepy when talking to Shen Qingqiu but fully mature and strong (even to the point of intimidation and/or general bitchiness) isn’t only a Binghe thing; Qing Jing disciples are just like that. Ning Yingying and Ming Fan absolutely demolishing the Little Palace Mistress in Hua Yue City only to end up sandwiching their shizun in a sobbing hug as soon as they recognize him is the same type of behavior.

SQQ raised his disciples to be capable and principled (Ming Fan quotes him as teaching that a slight should be repaid twofold, which echoes SY’s reason for liking Bing-ge’s character in PIDW— that he repaid every good and bad deed without fail), but he also unconsciously taught them that it’s safe (and often rewarding!) to be vulnerable and affection-seeking with him in specific.

Obviously Binghe is more intense/volatile in his behavior than the others due to The Trauma™️, but he is very much cut from the same cloth as the rest. This is all just what happens when you let a head-pat-addicted twenty-something book nerd be Peak Lord ^-^

while the official synopsis does make it seem like the story is going to be heavy and action focused, the novel itself is more comedic than its led on to be and its action scenes are rlly fun and exhilarating to read..

the main cast are extremely likeable and their relationship w each other is very funny and heartwarming… that being said i feel like if uve come from any of the popular danmei novels and r interested in reading rotmhs (PLEASE BE INTERESTED) i feel like i shuld mention that THERE IS NO ROMANCE IN THIS NOVEL… its not a BL, theres no romantic connotations between any of the main characters, this novel is more focused on found family and the bonds between friends than anything BUT PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LET THE LACK OF ROMANCE DISSUADE YOU..
