What the M6 do, when you die

Heads up: gender neutral pronouns for reader, M/C is yellow, very angsty, read at your own risk, mentions of mental health issues (anxiety, depression, etc…)

"not... again..."

absolutely distraught, can no longer sleep, eat, think for himself, walk, breathe... etc.

Half his heart has gone, for good. Many times he contemplates sacrificing himself or other people in exchange for you to come back.

"I can bring them back again, right?"

shop closes for an extended amount of time, the baker starts to worry about him, the others regularly check in on him. He spends most of his days in his gate and the realms in hopes to contact you.

It takes him almost a year to leave the shop and care for himself again.

He curses everything and becomes pretty hostile for a while. Trust issues, anger, depression, everything sky rockets in the worst ways possible, and you aren't there to bring him back to his old self.

Asra needed you all the time. He missed your laugh, your touch, your aura. Living life without your presence made him feel like there was no point to living.

forgets how to function, in the worst way possible.

"Julian, when was the last time you ate?" "I can't remember...”

Walking disaster. He gets drunk more often, there isn’t a moment when he’s sober.

Asra checks in on him at least once a week since he knows how bad Julian can get.

He closes his clinic and tries to stay hidden from the others. He pushes everyone away, in fear of losing someone else.

This isn’t the first time he’s lost someone but, this one hurts the most.

You were the air he breathed. He missed giving you dramatic, romantic speeches and other little things.

He tries to tell Asra to teach him magic, in hopes of contacting you again through the magical realms, “maybe the fools realm.” “The realms are dangerous without-“ “I’ll take any risk to see them again.”

He looks at the collection of love letters, paintings, drawings, photos, anything to keep your face engraved into his mind.

Vesuviua mourns with her. Nadia has been such an incredible leader and so the city mourns when she loses you. I’m a way, the city lost you too, you did a great deal of good for the people of Vesuviua.

“I’ll find you in another lifetime, my dear.”

Like Asra, she knows how the magical realms work. Instead of sleeping each night, she travels to the realms to try and find you. She swears, she's getting close.

Everyone around her is understanding. the entire city saw how incredibly happy you both were together.

She is back to being alone again. Truly alone. Yes she has the others but you... you were there for her every moment of every day. Every breath she took, you were beside her. She had almost forgotten what is was like to be alone, thanks to you.

She dreads waking up and is always in a bad mood after another unsuccessful night of trying to find you.

Has a memorial statue of you in the gardens, facing her private balcony and she cries every time she looks at it.

"I need you back..."

Sobbing for weeks, never leaving his wing, punching holes through his walls, not taking care of himself...

He’s not angry after a few months but sad. He was very angry in the beginning, when he felt like he could have done something, but you can only convince yourself you’re useful so many times.

6 months after your passing, he treks to your home town to hold a proper burial for you.

The people around him in Vesuvia find it hard to see him like this. He could be a threat to anybody but they understand how much you affected him, so they all offer as much support as they can.

You taught him how to be a better person and without you reassuring him each day, he can only hold onto your words and do things he thought was right

he tried his hardest to stay strong in public but it was hard. He wanted to look strong always but the first few weeks were rough.

"Me and Pepi miss you... so much."

She buries you around her cottage, in a secluded corner. She watches every day, the tree you were buried under, grow and prosper. Little white and yellow flowers bloom in the spring and last the whole year.

Nadia gives her as much time off as she needs.

Now, Pfeels completely useless without you though.

The little things hurt the most. Waking up to you changing Pepi's litter, cooking only for one person again, not having any help in the garden, seeing all your clothes in the closet...

"It's okay Pepi..."

Julian visits almost every night for the first few months. He always comes ready to tend to Portia and make her feel as well as she can feel.

"This isn't happening"

he spirals into a long, very angry stage of denial. He can't accept the fact that you're gone when it feels like he just got you.

He makes a vow to himself, to never get attached to another person again in fear of losing them.

he blames himself all the time. "Muriel stop..." "I could have done something.

He can never go back to the person he used to be, because you changed him for the better but now you aren't around to see him anymore. And that kills him inside

Asra is over almost every night.

Inanna has had to pull Muriel out of bed for weeks on end.

He knows you would want him to continue living but its too hard without you there.

He and Asra venture through the realms to try and find you. Muriel is determined.

- Asra loves your strange ability and wonders if it drains any of your magic, tires you out at all, affects your magic… are you stronger when you fly? Do you have to get a running start?

- Asra 100% tells you to “do a flip!” Every time you float

- One time, you picked him up and let him feel wind flying through his hair while you flew. He asks you to do it all the time now, and he never gets tired of it.

- He's in awe of you EVEN MORE, with SO many questions

- On adventures, she sometimes sits on your back and talks in pirate gibberish

- Pepi is scared of nothing. This cat jumps on your shoulders and paws you until you fly around with her. Paws all ruffled in your hair, back legs kind of scratching your shoulders but her happy little peeps are good enough for you to keep going.

- Muriel is fascinated. He often gazes lovingly at you whenever you use your ability, even if its mid fight.

- He remembers while you were facing off some demon in a fight, you floated up to tower over his shoulder. He marvels at your powerful stance, even though he doesn't see it, he could just FEEL the power radiating off you from behind him

- He always makes sure your protection charms are potent and fresh, just in case.

- "You're beautiful when you float around" His face always goes beet red when he compliments you. this is no different.

- Asra is also, always tired although he is not medically diagnosed he likes to joke around with you.

- It's draining and extremely tiring for you but Asra takes good care of you when you can't.

- He lets you know that you are still capable of being independent and strong enough to stand alone but help makes life so much easier and he doesn't hesitate to give it.

- Asra constantly tries new spells, potions and charms when they learn of your diagnosis.

- "Try this, it always works for me."

- Your body has adapted to using magic meaning that you don't use it often. Only on "good" days

- Asra often uses healing magic on you in hopes to take away the pain for a while and sometimes it works!

- Your illness doesn't phase him since he's known you since forever and he' is used to living with your routine of sleepless nights, or sleeping through the day.

- He knows what to do when you're in incredible pain or when you're uncomfortable.

- "wait wait wait... you just... sleep?" "It's complicated."

- He encourages you to open up to him about your every symptom, feeling, etc....

- "Okay, I know you're always feeling under the weather, I understand what chronic means but I think I found something that might help you." "Are there any-" "No. No leeches, my love."

- Some days are worse than others and he invests all his time into you on those days. Even though your fatigue never goes away when you sleep, Julian still encourages you to rest, and keep relaxed. "Don't use too many faculties and no magic! As least for today, alright? I'll be back with some tea and medication for you."

- Very much a caretaker whenever its a bad day for you

- He loves to surprise you with gifts and take you on "dates" at home where he does all the chores, brings a meal home and surprises you with flowers, especially since you don't always feel like going out

- He's sometimes a little over protective and it takes a while for him to learn how to change that. After all, he watched you defeat the devil.

-Julian admires you a lot more than you realize for having to live with a chronic illness. Few patients he's seen actually have illnesses like yours so whenever he sees you doing... anything, he's in awe.

- "Do not disturb them."

- Basically your bodyguard, bestie and wife all in one.

- She treats you no differently. She invites you everywhere, includes you in everything and makes sure you're kept in the loop.

- Nadia knows to well what it feels like to be left out so she makes sure you're with her all the time, included in the big city projects, in the boring engagements, etc...

- Nadia likes to make you feel special, so naturally she SPOILS YOU A LOT. Jewels? Furs? Food? A new palace? Sure

- She makes sure you have access to the best doctors of Vesuvia, actually no. She makes sure you have the best doctors on the continent.

- "Are you feeling up to a walk in the gardens?"

- She loves your willingness to not let your illness define you. Much of your routine is similar to hers, and you do many things most people dont even think of doing.

- Nadia is extremely inspired by you and makes sure you're treated incredibly well at all times.

- "Wake up! Oh wait- sorry..."

- It takes a little getting used to, especially once you live together but Lucio gets the hang of it.

- He isn't used to routine but makes an effort to stick to at least your morning routine, your medication routine, etc...

-Lucio doesn't mind at ALL and encourages you to carry on with life and stay strong

-In a way, you both suffered in your lives. Your illness is chronic and Lucio lost his arm! Many jokes are made between the both of you.

- "Hey, can we arm wrestle?" "No, I'm tired." "Thats fair."

- The dogs love to be protective over you whenever you fall asleep or are in pain. Lucio hates it but eventually gets around them, cuddling up next to you.

-Similar to Nadia, he makes sure you have the best doctors he can find. You deserve the best, always!

- Lucio loves and i mean, loves to spoil you. "Bad day? Thought so. I got you this!"

- He loves the reaction he sees every time he brings you a gift or takes you somewhere. It really warms his heart to know that he's doing something right, for somebody who needs it.

-He learned a lot from you like patience, willpower and strength. You are his role model, basically.

- "We are cuddling." "But-" "I'm waiting!"

- She smothers you in love and affection always, but especially when you really don't feel well

- she makes sure you know that you're safe with her and that you can be vulnerable

- she always helps put on your medical devices, even going as far as learning how they work and what they do for you

- "Do you want a snack?" She enjoys taking care of you whenever its a bad day, good day, any day!

- She has many questions and usually asks them tentatively, "If you don't mind... Can you explain to me why exactly you're in pain? It never goes away?"

- She will fight someone for you if they dare look at you wrong

- She knows how strong you truly are and that just makes her melt. She is completely in love with every part of you, even the bad days when you feel like absolute crap, you're moody and tired too.

- He makes sure either he or Inanna has an eye on you at ALL TIMES.

- He loves taking you on walks through the forest, he believes they help you.

- He loves your outlook on life and you both have deep talks, especially late at night when you're both sleepy.

Summary: After a bad argument with Lucio during the day, you struggle to stay warm in the apparently cold bedroom at night, without cuddling next to Lucio.

It got heated in all the wrong ways earlier. Yes, he apologized and yes he respected your wish to have some time alone but ultimately that time will come to an end once Lucio enters the bedroom. You ready yourself for bed, trying to distract yourself from overthinking. You clean your face and prepare your hair to sleep.

While you’re changing, the bedroom doors swing open and closed. He walks inside silently, which is something you didn’t expect. You almost feel as though you have to say something but you probably shouldn’t. Or should you? Lucio decides to say something while he wipes his eyeliner off, “I really am sorry.”

You nod and watch as the dogs curl up on their luxurious beds, cuddling, completely oblivious to their owners' situation. “I know, but I’ve heard that before.”

“And I changed from before, remember?” His tone is serious and sincere, an unusual combo for Lucio but you appreciate it. He turns back to the mirror, taking off the sharp claws of his gauntlet, leaving the smooth arm beneath exposed.

“Yes, I do.”

He nods, knowing how this conversation might end so instead he climbs into bed with you and turns to face away from you. “Goodnight love.”

“Night.”

Although he is bothered going to bed without a kiss and a smile, he closes his eyes, trying hard to sleep and fast-forward to the next day hoping that it might be better.

You, on the other hand, watch his back rise and fall. You can’t close your eyes, no matter how hard you try you just end up back where you started, looking at him. His golden arm reflects the tiniest bit of moonlight, which lights up his back almost perfectly. His muscles are defined all over his body which usually makes it hard to look away and tonight is no different.

Time passes long enough for the dogs to have rolled over, completely limp with sleep and Lucio has also fallen into a light sleep. You slowly inch closer to his warm body, tracing the lines of his back muscles with your finger, very lightly. The steady rhythm of his back, rising and falling as he sleeps on his stomach combined with the dim, blue, moonlight is almost enough to put you asleep but what you’re really missing is him.

As your hands roam his back, he turns his head to you, “Caught you,” with a huge grin plastered on his sleepy face.

You turn onto your back, crossing your arms, “No you didn’t.”

He chuckles and turns his head again to sleep. After some time, he turns around again, this time onto his side. He rolls a little bit too far taking a large portion of the sheets, leaving you bare. Suddenly, you feel the cool air of the large bedroom blow over you. You sigh and try to pull back the covers and it’s surprisingly easy, no resistance. Has he fallen asleep so quickly?

With a lightbulb going off in your mind and a smug smirk on your face you turn to Lucio and lift your feet up to his back. Lucio usually sleeps nude but tonight, he wore bottoms, probably since winter is approaching. “Perfect” you mumbled as you stuck your toes in the hem of his pants.

“You could just come here.” He mumbles, groggy with sleep.

You scoff, “can you just fall asleep already?”

“Not until you know that I’m sorry, and I won't do it again.”

“How will you prove it to me this time?”

He turns to face you now, reaching out with his golden arm to caress your cheek. “I’ve respected your wishes all day, right?“ you nod. “And I realized how I was wrong, right?”

“Yes.” He seems satisfied when he smiles softly, blinking sleep from his eyes.

He shifts closer to you, now running his cool hand down your arm. “Thank you. I think I’m getting better at this.”

You nod, moving closer to him. “Yes love, yes you are.”

He chuckles and wraps his arms around you, pulling you into his chest. You lay in the warm embrace for a moment before you pull back to meet his gaze. With one hand you reach up and cup his cheek, slowly closing the space between your lips in a sweet kiss. He hums in satisfaction when you pull away.

“Goodnight love.”

“Goodnight, Lucio.”

With another kiss on his shoulder this time, you both close your eyes. The room looks and feels the same but now, you’re in his arms.

However one thing still stands. Why is the room so cold? "Lucio, why is it so cold in here?"

He clears his throat, "Well, when I came in, I um... I opened the window a little bit so you would feel cold and cuddle with me-"

You laugh and hit his arm playfully, "Wow, I fell into the trap."

"I'm glad you did" With another kiss finally, you can both sleep soundly.

- Portia is the very protective mother of the both of you. You're more relaxed, but still reasonable.

- "Hey pops, can we go pick the food in the garden?" "Ask your mom, that's her sacred place-" "MOM!"

- They grow up to be very knowledgeable in everything botany. They help Portia in the garden, sometimes preferring the garden over city trips with dad.

- "CUDDLES? COMING!"

- Daily cuddles, morning, night, whenever there's free time, all the time!!

- At first, Julian isn't used to touch that isn't sexual so when you tell him that you love to be held, he tries small things like holding your hand, putting his arms around your shoulders or your waist, etc...

- he likes PDA so he always holds you in some sort of way whether that be your hand, your shoulder, your wrist, sometimes your waist.

- When you two are alone, he LOVES to cuddle and hold you. He lays down, ready to be the big spoon with his arms outstretched. You'd smile, all giddy and happy, jumping into his hold.

- "You smell great." He'd say as he wraps his arms around you, also letting his leg rest on top of yours.

- Even though his hands are usually cold, the rest of his body is like a furnace. You snuggle closer and hum in content.

- He loves to hold you and often does so to relieve stress.

- "Bad day at the clinic?" He nods and holds out his arms. You walk to him and let him hold you. He picks you up, you wrap your legs around his waist and rest your head on his shoulder.

- He would sit on the couch as you start talking to him abut his day. He got the habit of absentmindedly rubbing circles on your back or playing with your hair while you cuddle, which makes you melt.

- Your favourite thing he does though, is when you're working on something, whether it be in the kitchen or the study, he swoops you away. "You deserve a break, dear."

- BUT, when she does lay down in bed, smiling softly you run and land in her lap. She wraps her arms around your back, gently pushing your head down to rest on her shoulder.

- She would smother your shoulder, neck and jaw in kisses, telling you how amazing you are. "I'm glad you're all mine."

- After a long day, its sometimes you who does the holding but she always returns the favour when it comes time to sleep. She loves to hold you while you fall asleep. You would be on your back and she would cradle your head with one hand and rest her other over your chest, playing with your hair. She would rest her legs overtop yours, holding you close.

- Eventually, this becomes the only way you can sleep, when she holds you.

- "Sleep well, love." She kisses your shoulder and closes her eyes

- When you are out in public, you always reach for her hand, or something to hold and she always takes it. Sometimes holding your waist or shoulders.

- In the mornings, cuddles are the best. One morning, after a very relaxing cuddle session, she has one of the palace staff run a hot bath for the both of you, where more cuddling and holding takes place.

- At first, he is VERY shy about holding you but deep down, he loves the feeling. Whenever he holds you he feels like he's protecting you, which fills him with a warm fuzzy feeling. Whenever you sigh or hum in content, it makes his cheeks flush red.

- He sits down in front of the fireplace, with his legs crossed, smiling and waiting. You sit in front of him, not wanting to cross any sort of line. He reaches forwards and tugs your arm, beckoning you closer.

- You climb into his lap and sit with your back against his chest. He's a little confused as to where he should put his hands so you guide them around your waist, slowly.

- When you rest your head back and close your eyes he asks, "Is this okay?" You nod, "Are you comfortable?" He nods. "Great."

- on stormy days where most of the day is spent inside the hut, chores are done and it gets pretty tiring. He builds the nerve to pull you to the bed and lay down, waiting for you to join him for a cuddle party.

- He grows to love holding you and tells you many times that he loves it.

- "Inanna, go away for like 5 minutes." Ignoring him, she snuggles right between the both of you. Muriel accepts his fate and starts petting Inanna while you laugh and do the same
