On the one hand I love revising the poetry, plays and books I need for my upcoming exams. I love rambling on about them and taping said rambles to I can listen to them later as another way to revise. Like this is very academic.
But on the other had if I have to look at my science textbooks I’m going to cry, and I’m taking spectate science

I do wish my notes looked all cool and academic with like coffee stains and elegant swirling handwriting but I’m dislexic (yes I will be spelling it like that) and my notes are just space, bright colours and spelling mistakes

Okay since some of us (me) need to revise for exams here are a list of movies that make me enjoy studying (these are completely my own thoughts so keep that in mind)
The History Boys (the first three quarters): available on BBC iPlayer and on youtube to purchase (or watch a bootleg of the play if you want)
Dead Poets Society (before IT happens): available on youtube to purchase
Brideshead Revisited (the Oxford bits) : I have the DVD of this and I’m not sure where else you can get it but it’s also a book
The Perks of Being a Wallflower: available on Netflix for some reason I get so pumped about learning when I watch this

Love that the history boys was just like “here’s some students, Posner, Scripps and Dakin,” and then every now and then they remember there are other students in the class and they’re like “Oh yeah, Timms doesn’t get poetry. Anyways here’s what Dakin is up to”

just because there aren't as many posts of blm circulating and just because we're slowly posting regular "aesthetic" content again it does not mean you have the right to stop educating yourself on issues that affect black people. continue to educate yourself and others, call out racism when you see it and continue to donate and sign petitions. activism that only occurs when somebody dies or something devastating happens is not proper activism, it is performative. so, just because you aren't posting as much about blm or other issues anymore, it does NOT mean you can go back to being ignorant. continue to stay aware. keep that energy and use it and your privilege to help black people and amplify their voices. us non-black people need to recognise that choosing when to speak up or speaking up when it is big is a privilege and is ignorant and we need to fix this.

tips for making your bedroom fit more into the dark academia aesthetic?
my bedroom decor could be considered dark academia and i’ve done it very affordably. i have a tiktok where i show parts of my bedroom as room inspo, my username there is etherealacademia as well.
botanical postcards, ephemera, and various vintage-y prints can be found on aliexpress. specifically wheat king stationery store
post-quarantine, go thrifting and get some metal candlestick holders
when the flowers start blooming, press some and tape them to the wall, or dry bigger ones and hang them from the ceiling
old hardcover books can be “decor” (i read mine and display them— most only cost a dollar or two)
buy a couple old pulp novels or classic paperbacks and rip the pages out, tape them to the wall (i have no qualms about doing this because i do cutout poetry anyway)
old nice furniture is often found at thrift stores
print out poems you enjoy

The first pride was a riot, more specifically a riot against police violence. Trans women of colour like Marsha P. Johnson paved the way for the celebration of pride today. You cannot celebrate your pride this month, or any month if you aren’t also supporting Black Lives Matter and the riots going on against police violence right now. Us white LGBTQ+ need to stand up for our black siblings and their rights, their struggles. We need to amplify their voices and show any support we can.Hey! Better yet, reblog this version:
Extensive BLM Google doc including places to donate to, education resources, etc
