I just thought about how weird it must have been for the orcs to first come to Isengard. Like, there's this wizard that you know is an enemy of your lord and then suddenly your lord says "He's cool now, go help him" like, what was going on in Jerry's head when they went there?

And how must it have been like for Saruman? Did he have new boss jitters? From both sides, I mean, he had a new boss and he was the new boss. Did he think "What if I disappoint my orcs?" Did he wake up way too early just to pick out the best robe to wear on the day the orcs arrived? Did he practice his first speech over and over again in the mirror?

"YOUR LORD HAS A GREAT PLAN FOR EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU - no, that sounds weird, like I know what Sauron has planned. What about YOUR LORD IS A GREAT ONE. AND HE PERFORMS GREAD DEEDS. Yeah, that sounds better. But where do I even want to go with this? Ooh I know a great last sentence! ALL SHALL LOVE HIM AND DESPAIR! Gotta write that down before someone else steals it. Facktoré doesn't have any information. Thought so. The people in the miner's exchange didn't see anything either. Aspen says one of them flirted with me. I didn't even realise but I'll be on my guard next time I'm there. We're in an old Dwarven fortress right now. Our task is to make it habitable again. Spiders and Ghouls.

We visited the Gnomes in the mountains. Many weird machines, no half orcs. At least we saved them from a mimic. And met a new companion. Her name is Facktoré and she's good with tech and such stuff. Maybe she knows something about Ovak, but I doubt it. They probably don't get many visitors up there in the mountains. I'll ask her anyways. Tomorrow. But first, I'm gonna get an ale.

Talos. Again one of the Gods. I'm not really sure if that half-orc had nothing to do with Ovak. The Orcs were quickly defeated, I had no chance to interrogate them. At least I got a necklace made out of boar teeth from the half-orc. Well, I took it from him. But that's the same thing, isn't it? I'm curious about that necklace, it felt like magic when I took it.

While the others bought stuff in Phandalin, I asked the innkeeper if he had seen Ovak. He said, the description I gave him would fit someone who had been here two months ago. She had only stayed one night, though,and he didn't know where she was going when she left. I need more information. Two months is a very long time. I wonder where she is headed.

The group and I killed a few Ankhegs in a camp in the woods. There was only one survivor who said something about a group of half orcs who wanted to cast a ritual. I wonder if they know more than the innkeeper. Maybe they don't and I'm chasing a phantom. We will see...

Wordpainter's Diary, entry 34

The Swordcoast. I have met many humans, slayed a lot of orcs, but no sign of Ovak. I am now sitting under a few appletrees with a group of adventurers. At least, that's what they call themselves. Perxidor Von Hohenfeld (or something like that I don't pay much attention to titles), Aspen, Gwenlock, Hilda and Vanya. I met them about a week ago when I was on my way to Phandalin to search the coast from there. Suddenly I heard screams and calls for help. Two merchants were being attacked by a group of orcs, in the middle of the road and in broad daylight! I rushed in to help them and a moment later it was me and these 'adventurers' against the orcs. They were very good in that fight; they knew how to use their strengths and worked well together. I don't know what happened between then and Phandalin, but now they aren't even able to hit anything. I have heard that there is a dragon roaming in this area. I hope the adventurers don't come up with stupid ideas.
