I've been resource gathering for YEARS so now I am going to share my dragons hoard

Floorplanner. Design and furnish a house for you to use for having a consistent background in your comic or anything! Free, you need an account, easy to use, and you can save multiple houses.

Comparing Heights. Input the heights of characters to see what the different is between them. Great for keeping consistency. Free.

Magma. Draw online with friends in real time. Great for practice or hanging out. Free, paid plan available, account preferred.

Smithsonian Open Access. Loads of free images. Free.

SketchDaily. Lots of pose references, massive library, is set on a timer so you can practice quick figure drawing. Free.

SculptGL. A sculpting tool which I am yet to master, but you should be able to make whatever 3d object you like with it. free.

Pexels. Free stock images. And the search engine is actually pretty good at pulling up what you want.

Figurosity. Great pose references, diverse body types, lots of "how to draw" videos directly on the site, the models are 3d and you can rotate the angle, but you can't make custom poses or edit body proportions. Free, account option, paid plans available.

Line of Action. More drawing references, this one also has a focus on expressions, hands/feet, animals, landscapes. Free.

Animal Photo. You pose a 3d skull model and select an animal species, and they give you a bunch of photo references for that animal at that angle. Super handy. Free.

Height Weight Chart. You ever see an OC listed as having a certain weight but then they look Wildly different than the number suggests? Well here's a site to avoid that! It shows real people at different weights and heights to give you a better idea of what these abstract numbers all look like. Free to use.

Omg hiiii, I absolutely love Rekindled! You're so talented, and the story you're making for Persephone is so intriguing! A lot more than whatever trashfire Lore Olympus has become.

That being said, what was the moment you stopped liking LO Persephone? Have you always disliked her, or was it gradual? Or just a specific moment that made you go "yeaaaaah.. she's not it ;-;"

(And bonus question if I can ask, but how do you draw hands?? I hate them with a passion, but unfortunately hands are pretty necessary T^T)

honestly, I was a pretty big fan of LO up until the trial arc. Like, you've all seen me hate this comic with a fiery passion, but the only reason I'm able to do that is because before I hated this comic, I loooved this comic. I'd literally be counting down the hours until new updates, I loved the art, and I was too smitten by the appeal of the series to notice its writing problems, I just loved the romantic drama and the H x P ship, and yes, I loved Persephone, I loved her design, her personality, and I felt so 'seen' by her struggles, both with her trying to pave a path for herself and the SA plotline. I was even (regrettably) one of those people who would lurk in the antiLO tags and think "wow, these people are dumb, can't they see how brilliantly written this is ?? they're nitpicking!"

But then the trial arc happened which involved writing a plot that didn't put the romance front and center anymore - now that Rachel had to actually write something complex and logic-driven, the blinders started to fall off and I went wait... maybe Rachel doesn't know what she's doing. Persephone choosing her own lawyer? And it's Hades, one of the judges? Why are they suddenly establishing Thanatos as Hades' adoptive son? I'm not a lawyer, but I know that's not how any of this works and it really tipped me off that something was amiss, that Persephone was having all of her solutions conveniently handed to her on a platter and all of the other characters were suddenly being made to look like assholes just to make Hades and Persephone the heroes.

And then... Eris happened.

See, one of the things I loved most in the story was Persephone's character arc concerning the Act of Wrath. I write stories about characters with dark "personas" all of the time. So it was something I had frame of reference for, I really loved the premise of Persephone earning her name through this act of violence and while it was dashed with the opening of S2 revealing it was "all an accident", I was excited to see how the trial arc would bring about new information and confirm who was telling the truth about what "really happened" with the Act of Wrath. If the courtroom drama wasn't gonna be realistic, I could at least hope for some good 'OBJECTION!' reveal that would finally put to rest once and for all what really happened, and maybe Kore would finally embrace this 'dark side' she had.

So for the actual twist to suddenly reveal itself as... 'actually, this one goddess we've never mentioned before blessed you with wrath. why? idk she just did. anyways she's the reason you have wrath and that's what made you commit the act of wrath. problem solved.'

And that was where the twisting of 'faith' happened. When I went through the subconscious realization of , "Oh no, Rachel doesn't know what she's doing and it took me this long to notice. Oh no, maybe those antiLO freaks had a point-"

That said, there was a glimmer of hope in the midseason finale. Persephone was sentenced to remain in the Mortal Realm to carry out her mother's duties and I thought, "great! This will be Persephone's Rocky moment! She'll have to prove herself without the help of Demeter or Hades! This is gonna be awesome!!" During the hiatus, I was VERY excited to see where the story was going, I still had so much hope and I figured the mishandling of the trial arc was just a bump in the road. The series was still good, it was just going through a rough patch, these things happen.

And then it came back and it all went downhill from there. There was a 10 year time skip with very little insight as to what happened. Minthe and Daphne were just suddenly back to normal. They were referencing some food shortage or terrible event that happened during Persephone's reign that they never explained in explicit detail. And now, all of a sudden, Persephone was just returning to the Underworld, where Kronos had suddenly taken over. I had cautious optimism but throughout it, I was really seeing the cracks that were already forming opening wide. A lot of what I had to say wasn't positive anymore, I literally couldn't understand what the reasoning was behind these writing decisions and I couldn't find myself rooting for Persephone anymore, everything just seemed to convenient and easy for her to make her seem like the "strong and confident" character the comic claimed her to be.

The S2 finale was my breaking point and I think it was for a lot of other people too. That was pretty much where my 'transformation' from passionate stan to passionate critic happened, and it happened alongside the creation of the UnpopularLoreOlympus subreddit which would become my new 'home' within the community. After seeing how much the story had gone downhill, it made me realize in hindsight just how awful and one-note Persephone is, how she really never cared about anyone but herself and Hades, how her mother did, actually, have a point about her being practically groomed into a relationship with a billionaire slave driver, how she was very intentionally drawn to look like a child in ways I couldn't believe I had never noticed before, the list of "awakenings" goes on. And it sucked! It sucked to have that realization that the thing I loved wasn't just imperfect, but incredibly problematic in its writing and art choices. And just like when I loved the comic, I couldn't just let go of it, I had to understand to some degree why this happened.

It happened because Persephone was always being written as a one-note, easy to project onto self-insert character. A Wattpad protagonist. Not an actual representation of the Goddess of Spring, but a blank slate for the creator and the fans to imagine themselves as purely for the power fantasy of hooking up with a rich and abusive guy.

That was when I made my first piece of LO art intended to be an 'edit' - a redraw of Persephone's rebirth as the Dread Queen from the S2 finale, an ode to the Persephone I was hoping to see but never got. The rest from there is history.

I know I'm being SUPER dramatic about it but this was literally how it felt to go through the realization that this comic - and its characters - wasn't as good as I thought it was, and I think that's a sentiment that's shared by a lot of the 'haters' in this community. LO was a big part of my life and even some of my friendships with people, so when it went downhill, it felt like such a hit to the gut. It's still a big part of my life, albeit in the opposite direction, but I still wonder sometimes over the "what ifs", what if the series hadn't turned out this way? What if I had never realized its flaws? Rekindled is basically a love letter to those what ifs, satisfying the feelings I never got to keep with LO, and giving me a reason to count down the hours on Saturday nights again. I'm glad it's made that same impact for others, too <3

Beautifully said. All of my thoughts exactly. And to add, the climax involving Gabriel talking out how Emilie’s death has affected him, and then him and Adrien choosing to begin to move on. I loved that the two had their moment.

This movie is everything that I wanted miraculous to be. A take of two equal heroes that saved the world with the power of love and teamwork. Amazing.

Little details I really liked in the Miraculous Awakening Movie and that I feel added to the characters:

—Marinette wistfully looking at the dresses on the stores and imagining how she could dress the people around her, showing what she could CREATE if she was more confident on herself.

—Gabriel going to work and see him actually being a designer.

—Adrien and his headphones. It made the isolation he has put himself in and his depression feel so real.

—Nino and Alya having a simple enough and cute dynamic of Nino having a crush on her but not being able to express it and the promise that they could become something else.

—Natalie showing from the start that she may be distant but really cares about Adrien. And is worried about how all this is affecting him.

—Sabrina letting Marinette go.

—The little dynamic Marinette had with her dad.

— All the ladynoir interactions being more intense and the way their playing slowly becomes more flirty.

—The whole "You are my sidekick" to "I'm her sidekick" pipeline. Adorable.

—Adrien being the most dramatic teenager ever hearing the most cliché music on his mind when the falls for Ladybug and then lisening to that same song and crying when he gets rejected.

—The underlying anger on Adrien's depression. I could feel him at every scene hidding how angry he was to his father.

—Being Hawkmoth physically taking a hold on Gabriel. Show him distancing himself from the rest of his life because of his obssesion, how much paranoid and miserable it makes him to not let go.

—Ladybug and Chat Noir being literally stronger when they are together.

—Chat Noir having a secret hideout inside the old theather where his mom used to preform, and him being surrounded by stray cats 😭

—Adrien saying "You have to let it go" to his father and it signifying he has begun to do that as well.

—Coming back to the begining, Marinette literally unlocking the power of creating things because now she belives on herself.

—The way Ladybug and Chat Noir looked so much happier and relaxed when they are together, showing how thay have found an scape with each other. All tied to why they feel so hopeless when they think they may not have those personas anymore.

—How in the end they both come to terms with not needing the mask to be happy, literally tosing it away.

All signified by their clothes that resemble their superhero suits, but wearing them on civilian form. Because the freedom they found being Ladybug and Chat Noir is fully a part of them now

And them ending so content with the thought of not being superheroes anymore because what matters is that they found each other 😭

It’s so disappointing to see how far this comic had declined. Also, looking back there were always problems with the comic, but as someone who started reading this when they were a young teen, didn’t see it until much later. It’s sad that we as an audience will never get to see the comic have a satisfying payoff.

the mishandling of leuce in LO

The way that Leuce’s story is being handled does not sit right with me. At first, in Rachel’s plans for her she was just another example of demeaning Demeter, the fetishization of flower nymphs and the glorification of sex workers (which I could writer like 10 essays about)  

Her motives are mostly unknown. But I think we’re meant to assume she is yet another nymph gold digger only with hades for the cash (unlike dear persephone and she's only getting what she deserves!!). Regardless, it just proves how much of a Mary Sue Persephone has gotten at this point that Rachel felt the need to bring in Hades' first wife (who he also kidnapped! Wow, I'm noticing a pattern here, but hades is uwu good guy!!) as a “replacement” for persephone, when he was his first wife. I feel like Rachel just doesn't really understand romance? Hades can have more than 1 relationship where he is totally in love with 2 women. It just feels disrespectful to the OG Leuce. But whatever at least Leuce is out of the plot, no way to bring her back! 

Ugh, yeah… Rachel is clearly trying to repeat the Minthe, Persephone, Hades love triangle. But it’s just not working, it's so bad. Why is she doing this to Leuce? It gets worse. Thetis is clearly the worst person to be around for someone like Leuce. And she makes fun of her constantly, it's not funny, Rachel. 

We’re clearly supposed to be Thetis here, making fun of Leuce for what? Thinking she had a connection with Hades? Not being Persephone?

It’s clear what the end goal for Leuce was (and maybe still is) at first. 

AND THETIS CONTINUES TO ENCOURAGE LEUCE’S DELUSIONS!

She clearly doesn't want to do it, but only with the “encouragement” of Thetis she does it. It makes me feel bad for Leuce in an intimate way, because lots of people are familiar with this type of bullying. Encouraging you to do stupid things just to see you make a full of yourself. It’s terrible and disgusting, and causes you to be very confused why your “friends” are laughing at you, and can cause people to end up being paranoid. We continue onto Leuce, “seducing” Hades. I put quotation marks because?? She’s just pulling up her skirt, which lots of women do. We, as the audience know she’s here with the intent to seduce Hades, but Hades himself doesn’t know that. He’s just assuming and it makes him seem like he has a massive ego. (Imagine if he was like this to some of the women in the office?? “Hey, here's my paperwork” “I HAVE A WIFE BACK OFF HOE”) 

After that, Persephone decided to just put a bunch of animals in Leuce’s house? For what? Pulling her skirt up with Hades in the room as her? This is not Persephone's “girl boss” moment, this reeks of insecurity. Rachel is obviously trying to make the scene “comedic”, but what am I supposed to be laughing at? Persephone bullying and torturing a mentally unwell woman. Disgusting. Then we continue on the latest and worst installment yet.

This is a clear response to the antis who were saying that it was likely that Hades himself (or even Kronos! That would’ve been smarter) had sent these messages. Hades has a history of going after flower nymphs, and a past history of cheating. Him and Persephone had known each other for a month, it’s not unlikely to think that he could’ve cheated on her. But instead Rachel has decided on making Leuce actually delusional. As a baby manifestor myself, this is not how manifesting actually works, and manifesting someone to be/love you is a big no no in the community. Manifesting at its core is about self improvement, connecting to spirituality and loving and improving yourself (things Rachel has never heard of, or she wouldn't be writing this disgusting comic). Instead she’s literally delusional, why would she wave the texts in front of Persephone if she was so sure they were real? It’s clear she’s out of touch with reality, and being with Thetis makes it worse. It’s very uncomfortable for me to see a mentally unwell woman be mocked for comedy, but Rachel is very lucky to never have had to go through delusions or be close with someone who has, since it's so easy for her to make a joke about stuff like this.

So, I haven’t posted on here in ages, but I wanted to post the beginning of my new art series, featuring a good amount of the main cast of monster high! The premise for this was that Spectra is the ghoul behind the camera, taking everybody’s photos, letting them pose how they want, and asking them one or more questions each to go with each picture. I think it’ll be fun.

A lot of artists feel a sense of demeaning mockery from AI art engines, there's something demoralizing about your process being reduced to an algorithm that makes images by being stimulated with noise like you're blowing wind across a resonant glass pipe. But honestly, the user experience doesn't resemble artmaking, it resembles art commissioning, and that makes me feel demeaned.

Not to take credit from the artists who work for me, but being a client is something you can get good at. It's like being a film producer, you need to scout talent, understand what they can do for you, and communicate this effectively in your pitch. THIS is the craft that is bastardized by AI art the most. Seeing this technology marketed as the cheap alternative to hiring an artist, seeing the infantile cries for aesthetic fulfillment that comprise the field of "prompt engineering", it makes me sick. The way so many people's first introduction to the client experience is just nondescriptly begging for a beautiful picture from a program that can never ask questions of its own, it sucks.
