TEARS FORMED IN MY EYES the words i dreaded the most were finally said and i had no idea how we got here but it finally happened.

how did we get here? i thought everything was okay between us, but i guess not everything was like i thought it was.

“look, i’m sorry okay i just don’t feel a connection between us anymore and i’m not going to lie i have been seeing someone else” she said no emotion behind her words.

wake up, wake up, wake up!

this is just a horrible dream y/n she’s not here, she’s not real, but what if it was? what if she really is here telling me all the things i’ve never wanted to talk about?

“oh,” i whispered fearing that if i said something else i would break down “since when?” i asked looking at her face for answers “for a while now, like three weeks or so” great. around that time she was being the most loving girlfriend.

“PAIGE!!” i shrieked as she tickled me making me squirm beneath her trying to free myself from her grip “SAY IT! SAY I’M THE BEST AT FORTNITE!” she said in between laughs still tickling me “never!” i laughed out as i flipped us over so now i was on top looking at her. her eyes looking into mine then down towards my lips, in one quick motion her lips were on mine a fire enlightening in us. the spark suddenly being back, the spark i’ve missed so much.

“so everything we did and everything we shared was fake?” i felt tears prick my eyes blinking them back i look at her face no sign of remorse or guilt being shown “i mean not entirely but yea, look i have to go” she said standing up and heading for the door.

once i was sure she was gone i let out a sob finally letting everything out, how could i be so stupid? i knew she was no good for me but i let my guard down. i trusted her.

“paige look it’s a duck!” i said pointing to the pond in front of us as we walked down the park hand in hand “where?” she asked looking around the pond “right there by the rock!” i said she followed my gaze and smiled at the sight of the baby duck waddling out of the water. “he walks like you” she teased slightly nudging my shoulder, i turned around pretending to be mad at her “babe, don’t be like that! i was joking!” she said going after me and placing a hand on my shoulder i shrugged it off looking anywhere but her. “baby come on look at me” she said stepping in front of me she lifted my chin up with two fingers making me look at her “there you go, wasn’t that hard right?” she whispered, letting my chin go she pulled out a box from her pocket and held it out for me. the black velvet box seeming so small compared to her hand, i looked up at her a smile spread across my face as she nodded towards the box for me to take.

opening the lid it revealed a beautiful golden necklace with a heart charm “look into the heart” she smiled at me as i looked into the heart my smile grew wider it said “i love you” in every language.

i took off the necklace she had given me and placed it on the table in front of me, laying down on my back looking up at the ceiling the tears pooling out of my eyes the harder i tried stopping them the more the tears would came out. it felt like my whole world was crumbling apart.

my heart felt like it was breaking every second that passed, i felt like i couldn’t breathe without her by my side she was my source of oxygen and i lost it. i held my breath trying to calm myself down but a sob escaped my lips making me cough.

i’ve spent more time looking at my phone for a text or call from paige, but nothing all i wanted was an explanation. the one she gave me didn’t feel like her. it felt forced. but i didn’t have time for that anymore.

i walked towards the familiar door i’ve walked through a thousand times before knocking on it. a girl i didn’t recognize opened the door “hi, sorry to bother but is paige home?” i asked looking at the redhead in front of me “babe who’s at the door?” a familiar voice said in the background as it got closer “y/n” she said locking eyes with me her whole demeanor changing “paige,” i said stretching out my arms with the box of her things “just came to return your things” i said as i handed her the box ���uh, thanks” she said “lily could you put this in my room please?” she asked giving her the box leaving us alone.

“is that all?” she asked looking around “yea, that’s all and here” i said taking out the velvet box from my pocket and putting it in her hand before leaving without saying anything else.

“do you ever think about the future?” i asked paige as i drew figures on her arms “all the time, why?” she asked looking at me “am i in it?” i whispered looking at her “baby, you are my future there’s no one else i’ll love more than you.” she whispered back pulling me closer to kiss my head. i smiled as i let sleep take over my body and enjoying this moment.

as i walked down the streets of seattle the nice warm breeze hitting my face, “no, today i can’t my boss asked me to cover for eva” i spoke into the phone “wait i thought it was your day off?” questioned allison “originally it was but then eva had a family emergency so they called me to do this interview, i got to go im here already ill call you back later okay?” “okay be careful, love you” she replied “love you too” i said as i hung up.

opening the door to the building the cool air hitting my face, a smile made its way to my face as much as i loved my days off i also enjoyed interviewing new people and doing photoshoots with them.

getting my things ready in the room i would be doing the interview one of the girls from the front desk came in to tell me the person i would be interviewing was here a little early, after a few minutes there was a light knock on the door. “come in” i said as i fixed a few things on my computer.

“hi, is this evas office?” a girl's voice spoke from behind me “sorry, eva couldn’t make it today so i will be your interviewer while my friend lola will be your photographer” i replied turning around. that’s when i saw her, her beautiful brown hair in loose curls, a smile on her face as she approached me “i’m nika, nika mühl” she said stretching her hand for me to shake.

“i’m y/n, welcome take a seat we’ll get started shortly would you like a water or something?” i asked heading towards the little snack table at the end of the room “a water is fine” she replied while taking a seat on the couch.

“alright, now that we’re set up and everything we’ll get started with the interview you ready?” i asked her, she gave me a small nod indicating she was ready. i look down at my paper of instructions and questions to ask, i look up at nika realizing her eyes were already on me “nika, how’s seattle been treating you?” i asked looking directly into her eyes. “seattle has been treating me amazing, i love the seafood.” she replied “we heard you made the team, how are you feeling about that?”i questioned looking down at my paper.

“alright thank you so much for answering our questions, now lola will take you down to the studio to take a few picture and you should be done!” i replied as i got up to put my things away “thank you!” nika said as she followed lola out. as i was putting my things away i got an incoming call from allison “hey!” her voice rang “hi, whats up?” i said as i continued to put everything away. “i was wondering that if after your interview you’d like to go grab some lunch at that diner near your workplace,” she said “yea, sure i’m down just let-” i said getting interrupted by a knock on the door, “hey, i’ll call you back” i whispered as i signaled the person on the other side to come in

“hi, is everything alright?” i asked looking at the brunette in front of me “yes, everything is great! i just came to ask if that’s everything for today” she said looking around “yes that’s everything for today thank you so much for coming down here” i said smiling “no, thank you for inviting me it was a pleasure meeting you” she said stretching her hand out.

taking her hand in a handshake, i feel her give me something she smiles heading towards the door as i look down to see a piece of paper “call me :) ***-****” i look back up to see her look back at me and wink before she left.

THE FLASHING LIGHTS of cameras being as blinding as it could be, people were shouting your name to get your attention and snap pictures of you.

as you made your way to the entrance of the building you were stopped by an interviewer “y/n! i’m john winston, is it okay if i ask you a few questions?” he asked pushing the microphone towards you.

“of course!” you replied with a smile “alright first question, who did your hair and makeup today?” he started “my stylist linda did my hair and makeup she really knows what she’s doing” you replied with a smile.

they asked you typical questions you’d always get in these events. “okay one last question before i let you go, we’ve noticed recently that you have been watching women’s college basketball who would you say is your favorite team and players?” he questioned looking up from his paper.

“my favorite teams and players?” you repeat the question “that’s a difficult question for players i would say either caitlin clark or kate martin, now for teams i don’t know actually i don’t have a favorite just yet” you replied with a smile and nodding your head. “there you have it guys she doesnt have a favorite team yet! thank you so much for your time y/n” he replied with a smile before walking off.

caitlin was scrolling through tiktok when she came across clips from last night’s interview, she paid attention to everything you had to say until the last question “that’s a difficult question for players i would say either caitlin clark or kate martin, now for teams i don’t know actually i don’t have a favorite just yet” your voice rang from the phone in her hand. “woah what” she said sliding her hand to go back to that specific question.

“i’m her favorite player? wait she knows who i am?!” she thought a smile creeping into her face. this was something big for caitlin you’ve been her crush since 2018, she loved everything about you from your music to how you interacted with your fans.

this was her chance, “should i dm her? no she probably gets too many dms and mine would get lost” she said responding to her own question before she could do anything she got a notification; “your.username just posted.”

you arrived at your hotel room, dropping all your bags by the tv jumping on the bed. a loud sigh escaped your mouth, the flight was so long and there was a kid behind you kicking your seat like his life depended on it.

“i’m so sorry” you say looking up to see those dazzling brown eyes, the ones you’ve only seen on tv. “it’s okay don’t…worry” she said softly looking down at you.
