How far are you with the first chapter? I'm excited to read it. Zoro is my favorite character but I can make an exception with Sanji for you. Since you were talking about Sumi at work, give me some fruits. I'm going to update my story while I wait.

First chapter is going great...eh...hahah. I always keep adding more sections because I'm unsatisfied with what I've written so far, hence why this chapter is over 4K right now. Sumi values are represented with each member of the Straw Hats, hence why she holds them to highest regard: Luffy: Compassion Zoro: Loyalty Nami: Intelligence Usopp: Sentimentality Sanji: Respect Chopper: The Doctor's Code/Kindness Robin: Maturity Franky: Strong-Will Brook: Compassion Jinbe: Honor/Humility

🍒 [CHERRY] Who is your OC's perfect companion?

It's kinda hard to narrow it down haha. Probably the Straw Hats altogether as a whole because each of the members are unique and although there are moments where they don't get along or their priorities/values differ, at the end of the day, Sumi has her found family.

Individually, it would be a toss up between Usopp, Chopper, or Sanji. Usopp and Sumi are best friends and always work together with their weapons (Sumi often supplies Usopp with different ammo while Usopp creates her iron fan and its mods). Chopper and Sumi often converse over herbs and the medicinal properties they have and he's usually with her gathering them when they forage. Secretly he likes being carried by her around haha. Sanji because they emotionally invest in one another and they are usually on watch together (it would be Sumi’s turn but Sanji spares some time to just talk before he heads to bed). He also requests for herbs or plants for his food so Sumi will either add that to her forage list or he'll accompany her.

🍓 [STRAWBERRY] How do they feel about 'cute' things?

Sumi is a sucker for anything weird/cute. She pretty much adopts pets during the course of her journey. She gets Kalahari, her super spot-billed duck during their time at Arabasta (who is Karoo's adventerous girlfriend), Suki her South Bird from Jaya, Hatchan from Skypiea (Zoro HATES the name for obvious reasons and Sumi has forever banned Luffy from ever handling him again because we all know what he did with him....), Umi the toy size yagara Sanji gets her at Water 7, etc. Nami tells her that all of the pet's needs come straight out of her cut but Sumi is happy to accept the deduction. In the girl's room, she has a mini aquarium for Umi and Hatchan while the others stay outside.

She also collects weird, little knickknacks that Nami finds hideous but Robin seems to enjoy them.

🍅 [TOMATO] How misunderstood is your OC? In-universe or IRL.

Immediately, the crew (minus Sanji to some slight extent and Luffy) think that Sumi is stuck up and she is indeed standoffish. However, it's only because she lost her memories and so she's frightened and desperate to find out clues that she prioritizes that over socializing and letting her guard down. Luffy and Nami are eventually the first to accept her (Luffy finds out she's an herbalist and Nami is forced to share a room with her but slowly they get to know one another), then Sanji and finally Usopp. Zoro was the least welcoming member because he didn't trust her and so it took him a while to bring himself to be "nice". I think it was during Arabasta that he starts giving her a chance to prove herself.

🍉 [WATERMELON] What will your OC take to the grave?

Hmm..originally, when she regains her memories, Sumi wanted to take her past to the grave. She never wanted the others to find out about her origins until she is forced to face it. I don't want to spoil much, but I think I'm planning on putting this huge event during the time skip!

🍊 [ORANGE] Does your OC have a prophecy surrounding them? If they don't, what would it be?

Nope. Sumi is just an ordinary person...well minus the fact she's a princess on the run. IF she did have a prophecy...uhhh maybe that she would bring prosperity and life back to Gardenia, her kingdom, hence why she is on the run.

🥭 [MANGO] What colours best represent them and why? Does this differ from their favourites?

Oooo...this really gives me a chance to think. I don't want to go the cliche route and say green because of plants and purple for royalty (even though her full name is Sumire and that means purple).

Probably blue for fear and trust because Sumi starts of with the fear of the unknown and untrusting of anyone around her since she has no recollection of how she ended up in Loguetown since she finds out she's from the North Blue. She sees the Straw Hats as nothing more than a means for travel because she initially wanted to be dropped off at the first island they see, however she eventually earns not only their trust but she puts her life in their hands and in turn trusts them.

Definitely black for elegance and mystery. Nami caught on to this in the beginning and Sanji knew almost immediately but it wasn't his place to say. They noticed how refined Sumi would act and her mannerisms, but didn't think much of it at the time. It's only when Sumi leaves to return home does Nami start to piece everything together while Sanji had an inkling of her intentions. At first Nami thought it was because she was brought up like Kaya, wealthy and refined, but it became more and more apparent later on. Mysterious because obvious reasons hahaha.

Yellow for intellect because of Sumi's knowledge for herbs and how she works alongside Usopp for his weapons and Chopper for his medicine.

There is more, but these are definitely the main ones!

🍑 [PEACH] How do they show their kindness? How kind are they truly?

She's the type that when she shops, she will find something that reminds her of a crew member or recall that they liked or were in search for a particular item and buy it for them. However, she will just leave it lying around and they're either left wondering who it was or they would know immediately. Sumi is pretty kind because it was something she wished happened to her back when she was in Gardenia but I can't say much :)

🍌 [BANANA] Have parts of your OC been lost to time (in-universe)? What do they wish they could lose from themselves?

I guess you can say her faith in people she once trusted. I can't say much because it's part of her backstory, but over time, she distrusts everyone around her and it does take time for her to eventually learn to open herself and trust the Straw Hats.

What she does wish she can lose from herself is this barrier to automatically put her defenses up without giving the person a chance. She was hurt before and so she just immediately prepares for the worst instead of working with others. This does change eventually.

🍍 [PINEAPPLE] Pineapple on pizza or not?

Do they have pizza in One Piece? If not, she'll probably like it.

🍋 [LEMON] What is their kryptonite/ultimate weakness?

Anything cute and you can turn Sumi into a putty. She won't hesitate to stop a fight to be "gosh...too cute', earning a screaming session from either Zoro or Nami. You know how Sanji is expressive outwardly? Sumi is similar, but she internalizes it more.

🍈 [MELON] If they had to be put into a box, what box would it be and why?

But...why. What is this...JJK? HAHA.

🍏 [GREEN APPLE] How do they differ from the norm and how are they punished for it?

I'm gonna put this with the nobility instead of the general population in the One Piece world. Sumi is quite different from the rest of the nobility because she has seen the world through the eyes of ordinary folk. After she leaves Gardenia and forcibly keeping out of trouble, she sees the world outside the newspapers the seagulls bring and realizes that her kingdom really is in its own little world. She understands that life is indeed different from the one was she brought up in and accustomed to. From fancy china, gold silverware, and high class food, she is now eating off mismatched plates and battling for food against Luffy, while drooling over Sanji's dishes that are leagues better than what she had eaten (she won't admit it though hahaha).

I wouldn't say she is punished for it. She learns to embrace it and it becomes her new norm.

🍐 [PEAR] What is their current social standing? If they could change it, would they, and to what?

She was a princess so I guess she was upper class/rich? However, I can't really go into too much detail without revealing too much, but she manages to sneak out some funds. It does take some getting used to, but she'll manage.

She wouldn't change it for the world. She is content with her life with the Straw Hats.

🥑 [AVACADO] What will they never back down about, even if it makes them seem bad?

At first, she is a little stubborn and refuses to ask for help, even when she is offered it. She feels a little bad turning down offers, but she doesn't want to burden anyone. She wants to do things on her own initially, like foraging and just finding ways to return home and is a little selfish. She doesn't want to get in the way of the crew's dreams and I think time spent and witnessing what happens during the course of the series. She does have one moment...ahhh I can't say much :)

🥝 [KIWI FRUIT] How does their outside appearance differ from who they are?

Sumi is relatively pretty by One Piece standards. Definitely not Boa Hancock or Princess Shirahoshi levels, but she can catch people's attention. However, she is a standoffish at first, maybe a little rude. People think she's easy to approach because she looks either inviting or friendly but Sumi is the first to check out of introductions. Once she's comfortable, then she's a little more animated or conversational.
