Ever since I've taught myself to use references for everything I draw, sketching even simple stuff from head has become very unpleasant and irritating... Every time I do, I sharply feel just how little I actually know about human body, faces, clothing, lighting... I'm not on the level zero, but I can't stand on my own feet without using a reference as a clutch... I keep delaying studying drawing from books, but the blank mess filling my mind every time I try to draw relying on my power alone is becoming unbearable.

However, I'm also in awe with the younger me, who didn't study anything, drew waaay worse, but still enjoyed the process and was proud of the outcome most of the time. I need to remember how I did that lol.

Also I need to do something about my posture and workplace, because every time I come back to my senses mid process I catch my body curling up into a sea knot. No wonder I feel tired and stressed while drawing 😭😭

hiiiii! you'd think i'd post something elaborate after a 1,5-month break but i couldn't make myself finish a single piece in all this time lol. i don't want the blog to go stale and i need attention so i decided to gather up some sketches. when i was drawing some of these i was meditating rather than studying the photo references, so they're not exactly anatomically correct but whatever

these are mostly mahoyome, but there's also some blue period sketches, one skip and loafer sketch, one sxf sketch, one heaven official's blessing sketch (yeah...) and a couple of "photo studies". the last one is anya and loid

i don't know the name of the team and the player yet but i'll add them later (i'm in a bit of a hurry so i have to go... sorry!!)

#my art #haikyuu #hinata shouyou #hinata shoyo #took me ~2hrs. a little less maybe #i feel more confident at drawing bodies now. but faces and heads are incredibly difficult #not only the anatomy is hard but the face should also be recognisable #and finding the golden mean between realism and anime style feels like an impossible task #but well. nothing you can do but try your best to learn #on a different note. i remembered i have free will and can draw something besides spy x fam and magus' bride #i wasn't restricting myself to these two works. but i got so attached to the characters that i forgot i could draw someone else #im watching haikyuu for the 3rd time (watched it in 2015 and then one more time in 2017) #it's one of the VERY few animes i don't find cringe after a long break and love just as much as i did during my teenage years #it's a bit too dramatic sometimes but i don't mind that at all #the animation is mind-blowing... #and the humor too #kageyama drawing in the next post... i'll continue my ramble there #traditional illustration #pencil illustration #hq

I'm devoted to traditional art, currently I only use graphite pencils on a regular office paper, but I dream of coming back to paints when I feel more confident. If skills allow, I want to try making a living by doing art, but I'm still only learning by self-teaching (and, frankly speaking, I dont know anything about the art industry or what I want to do).

English isn't my first language, so misunderstandings can happen. Sorry about that.

You can send me asks, but if it's not something important I might take a long time to reply ("long" as in, months). I'm not particularly good at online messaging and social media. Thankfully.

I can't decide if mentioning this is a good idea, but: even though I follow politics, I don't make posts about it very often for a reason. I want to include this because I saw other people make an enemy of those who don't actively show their opinion on social media. I disagree with the "silence is violence" saying when applied in such a superficial way.
