🗺 what's a book series I love that's inspired by the culture/history of a specific country?

I really love Khaled Hosseini's books, which are all set in or around Afghanistan. I got to learn a lot about Afghan history from his work; I know he has faced severe criticism for his Westernized lens but no one can deny the work he has done in bringing the country to the forefront of contemporary literature. Also I don't get the criticism that he presents Afghanistan as a sob story for US media, because the man literally writes about the country's rich and developed past, its heritage, poetry, architecture etc.
