Who I am and Why I'm here
Who I am and Why I’m here
Tumblr media
So, my first assignment  or challenge for WordPress Blogging University is to give my reader (hopefully will change to “readers” soon) a sense of who I am.
I was a city girl working and living amidst sky high buildings and shopping malls, cinemas and recreation centers, of great parks and museums.  Anything you want is available to a point where malls and fastfood restaurants are saturating every…

Saved by Grace....
Saved by Grace….
It is amazing how tiny an island is Turks and Caicos and yet, it is a hub for great food; an array of delicious international cuisine to satisfy your appetite.
Restaurant setting ranges from fine dining to yard-to-table home cooked meal.  And the food choices are endless!
A group of friends and I recently discovered Saved by Grace, a local restaurant that serves Creole Menu.
Let me tell you…

Slow season blues
It’s that time of the year where hotels, restaurants and other branches of the tourism industry closes their doors to tourist to pave way for renovations and upgrading their facilities for the upcoming season.
If you are planning to visit during the months of September  and October and you did not book a condo or villa unit, ensure that you pre-book all your dinner reservations as quite a few of…

Salute to our Civil Service Agents
All smiles from these Civil Service Agents while assisting me with my car’s registration.
Let us acknowledge them on their hardwork so that we will continue to see these beautiful smiles.
Enjoy tonight’s party!

No Need for Speed
It takes 8,460 bolts to assemble an automobile, and one nut to scatter it all over the road.

Two-wheeler Fun
Tips when biking around Providenciales (or any road in TCI):
1.) Always go with the traffic (not against traffic).
2.) Always protect your head and use helmet.
3.) Never underestimate the weather in TCI; protect your skin from the harsh sun with a sunscreen 50SPF or higher.
4.) Drink lots of liquid (preferably water with a squeeze of lemon) for optimum hydration.
5.) The islands of Turks and …

We drive on the left side
We drive on the left side
I come from a country that drives on the right side of the road so it came as a shock and great confusion when we started pulling out of the airport parking lot and drive on the left side of the road… well, this was a decade ago.
I started driving on island after a month of residency and it was not a bad thing after all. (more…)

Coastal Grapes of the Caribbean
Coastal Grapes of the Caribbean
Walking along the Grace Bay stretch or along the beach, these plump berries always catch my attention until one fine day this tree was swaying its fruits proudly.
Here’s what I found out:
Coccoloba uvifera is a species of flowering plant in the buckwheat family, Polygonaceae, that is native to coastal beaches throughout tropical America and the Caribbean; including southern Florida, the Bahamas,…

Restaurant Review: Caravel
Another perk on working in a hospitality and tourism industry is being able to meet new people.   Guests flock our office with adventurous, foodie and bydget conscious souls like me.
Among the usual topics are where to go, what to do and where to eat.
That’s when the topic of Caravel came into light.   A guest came by to say hi and said their thanks and gave us a feedback of the places and…

Easter Monday roundup
http://wp.me/p2Ngn6-4k
Finally after eight years on the island, unbelievably as well, my family had the chance to take part on the annual kite flying festival.
I was afraid that it was just going to be pure kite flying. I was in for a surprise when they had games for the kids AND Easter egg hunting!!! I think I was more excited on the idea than that of my son, teehee… We even had the chance to get an annual kite flying…

Restaurant Review: Sora Japanese Brasserie & Cafe Market - all in one day on my BURPday!
Restaurant Review: Sora Japanese Brasserie & Cafe Market – all in one day on my BURPday!
“I don’t believe in aging. I believe in forever altering one’s aspect to the sun. ” ― Virginia Woolf
Yes, I don’t believe in aging. I am just happy to be blessed to have reached another year and I am still looking forward to more years of what life has to offer. Apart from that, I am happy to be blessed with a loving husband and an adorable baby.
So to start it off, this is how my…

Bid or Buy it now?
Bid or Buy it now?
My husband came home one day and was ecstatic that he entered into a bidding. I thought that it was one of the watched items from ebay. But no, it was a bidding for a fundraising campaign for free spay and neuter in Turks and Caicos Islands on May 2014.
“Potcake Place hopes that every animal can be spayed/neutered so that one day there will be no more unwanted pups being born and the need for…

Flower Power
I am so happy to share this new project I completed during my vacation. Just in time for spring!
This wonderful piece is made of mother of pearl shells, pearl, glass beads and olive jade chips. I was happy that I completed this in three hours! I guess I am getting used to twisting wires.
I cannot wait for my next project! Woohoo!

Kiteboarding, anyone?
Island, turquoise water, trade winds… what comes to mind when you hear these?
For Hubby and I, this means Kiteboarding time!
For those who’s on the more adventurous side, this one is for you. This is not a start-your-engine-then-go type of thing. You need to study the wind direction, wind speed and etc.
There were only a few companies who does the training from 2006 to 2010 but because a lot of…

Restaurant Review: Da Conch Shack - new and improved!
Restaurant Review: Da Conch Shack – new and improved!
It was a busy day-off for both my husband and I and because we are downtown, we decided to head straight to Da Conch Shack.
We went Thursday and the usual, a live band is playing.
The changes?
Food is better – my husband had the fish and it was just so amazing and it just melts in your mouth. The fish was creamy and the seasoning is just enough. My baby boy had the cracked conch; another…

Weekly ThursDATE - A review on the Weekly Fish Fry
Weekly ThursDATE – A review on the Weekly Fish Fry
If you’re planning your TCI vacation, make sure that Thursday is on your itinerary.
Why? Because it is Fish Fry! This once a week opportunity, where most of the local restaurants gather to showcase good food (plus great value for money), great music and amazing cultural experience is a must try! It is also located on the The Bight Park (we also call it Children’s Park) and you will be dining…

Restaurant Review: Anacaona (read: A-NA-KA-YO-NA)
Restaurant Review: Anacaona (read: A-NA-KA-YO-NA)
Yes, this is quite hard to pronounce and I can’t blame you. The first time I read this on the guide books, I also pronounced it incorrectly like most people do… ANACONDA!
An overview: Anacaona is the only gourmet ocean front restaurant located in Grace Bay Club.
Years back, I was lucky to be invited to view the property, have cocktails afterwards while enjoying great company of old friends and…
