Ok so obviously twiyor’s romantic dynamic is cute and entertaining, but I also just love seeing them together coparenting. Like yeah, they claim they’re sticking w each other for selfish, personal reasons, but they also want to help raise their little human and watch her grow, and I think that’s adorable.

love the new ghibli protagonist. what a little freak (affectionate). he has NO chill. a kid shoves him at the start of the movie and he instantly tackles them and proceeds to fight his entire class. he bashed his head in with a rock and tried to walk it off. the bird in his garden was doing funny things and he instantly starts making plans to murder it. was ready to beat the shit out of that pelican. i just know if he was allowed to curse he would have called that heron a bitch ass mother fucker. mahito was NOT fucking around.

I love re-reading the earliest chapters of Spy x Family, because it's so cool to see the difference in the character designs then vs the ones now!

Like, this was Loid-

He doesn't have as much of a big difference in appearance as Anya, though. She almost looks like how Damian imagines her in his shoujo filter 😂

For the whole dub vs sub debate I feel personally it’s just like… go with the vibes

Like in the cases of apothecary diaries, skip and loafer (MY BELOVED) and oshi no ko, I watched in sub and I am SO GLAD I did because I don’t think I would have enjoyed them as much as I did otherwise.

I watched the first season of spy x family in dub and I really enjoyed it, but switched to dub for season two and now I’m never looking back. All three of their vas are FANTASTIC in sub. Same case for jjk.

If I had the chance to watch Komi Can’t Communicate, Your Lie in April and Horimiya again for the first time, I would definitely watch in sub. I watched in dub and both were ok/good (komi was the first anime i watched and i LOVED it, I think if I watched it now I would enjoy it but not L-O-V-E) it) but I think my enjoyment would’ve increased with sub. (as a side note: I know a lot of people rave about horimiya but I thought it was just.. good? ok, even, especially towards the end? i’m just gonna blame it on the dub???)

HOWEVER!!! There are certain animes where I just personally had to watch in dub because humor and emotional beats just tend to land harder for me when it’s in my native language. I seriously think I would’ve thought kaguya was just “pretty good” had I watched in sub. Specific case in point is the ENTIRE RAP EPISODE because holyyyyyy shiiit that was the funniest thing I’ve ever watched in anime but I kinda was just grinning when I watched that scene over in sub vs of full-on cackling in dub. (side note #2- i have quoted “show 😮 me ☺️ the money 🫵” from this dub so many times you have no idea) AND also the NARRATOR is incredible but I think you already know that

Saiki k and ouran high school host club also go along with my dub preference because their dubs are incredibly well done and so, so fun. I think another reason I watch in dub is because the sheer amount of quoting you can do vs sub where it’s kinda hard to do that unless it’s something REALLY special. I still really enjoyed saiki k season 2 even though it wasn’t dubbed. but still, season 1 is my favorite because it has actually made me laugh out loud. Looking at you, “he sounds like a HIPPO DROWNING IN A WASHING MACHINE!!!!” Ohshc, too, with its “✨you boys✨ are the homosexual supporting cast”

In terms of emotional moments, I don’t think I would have cried at mob psycho 100’s ending and mayyybe fruits basket’s ending. I don’t know though. they’re both pretty hard to say that I wouldn’t have cried AT ALL

Emotional beats work best on me when they’re in my language and done well (mp100- kudos to reigen’s va because he was so so good), or if I am really, really attached to the characters. If spy x family ever gets an ending it’s over for me. Even if I already read it in the manga.

I don’t think I’ve ever watched a BAD dub, but I wouldn’t say all dubs are on the same level as the original material. That being said, Japanese voice acting is just sometimes not for me. Sometimes it is for me! It boils down to how you feel on things, personally. I don’t see how people have to get so worked up over people’s personal preferences. If consuming media in a way that helps you better understand the plot and empathize with the characters isn’t exactly the original way it was created, who cares!! It’s your decision!!!!!
