You do not know this about me but the milestone in my life that as of now is the absolute most important was my son turning one years old. Not his birthday or birthday party, but because we made it a year? Did you know that I was in and out of hospital and doctor's appointments, while I was pregnant? Did you know that my job treated me horribly and made me do manual labor, while 7 months pregnant? Did you know I was depressed, while I was pregnant? Did you know my son was rushed in an ambulance when he was 2 days old? Did you know that was the first time I saw my husband cry? Did you know I was afraid to call my own mom because I couldn’t handle her emotions? Do you know how hard it was leaving my son there overnight because there is no place for parents to sleep? Did you know that I had anxiety attacks every time I tried to breastfeed because I felt he wasn’t getting food so I decided to exclusively pump? Did you know that your child has to eat every three hours and in between that I was pumping for an hour, cleaning the parts and and got 30 minutes of sleep before starting the cycle again? Did you know that I was absolutely lonely my first three months with no one to talk to besides an infant who barely knew me and I barely knew him? Did you know I had anxiety attacks thinking of going to the supermarket or shopping by myself? Did you know that I went through terrible postpartum depression when I finished pumping and that’s a thing I didn’t know you could get? Did you know I had to start all over in making friends and it isn’t easy because everyone is on different schedules and you are just trying to fit in and can’t be yourself (at first)? Did you know that I’m STILL afraid to shower unless someone else is in the house? Did you know that I’m not working so we are on a single income and everything is expensive? Did you know that I started selling books FOR ME not for anyone else because I wanted to be able to pay for a cleaning person or a babysitter once in awhile? Did you know I didn’t know how to cook at all so I’m teaching myself and that made me feel like a failure at first? Did you know that I’ve been chronically sick since December and gone to three specialists so I can stop pumping my body with antibiotics. Did you know that you can’t just send a baby or toddler on their way so you can have “me” time? Did you know that my time is limited? Did you know that I’ve never had a friend just show up to my house to give ME a hug because I was having a bad day until now? Did you know you never asked me how I was feeling? Did you know I needed a friend? You might hate the person I’ve become, but I absolutely love me. I’m selfish. #sorrynotsorry.
