A little test model finished for my Empire army in Warhammer The Old World. I’ve gone with the classic colours of Talabheim, one of the largest cities in the Empire, and instantly recognisable in the Old World lore.
Ever since joining this wonderful hobby almost twenty five years ago, I wanted to build and paint a grand army of Talabheim but never achieved that goal. With the release of The Old World, I figured the time was right to change that, and here is the first painted miniature of the Grand Army of Talabheim!
I still need to decide on a paint scheme for the shield, currently leaning towards a black or painted wood grain front with steel edging and a copper or brass emblem.
Now that I have the scheme nailed down, I’ll be making a start on the next infantry models to complete the unit of Spearmen.
Happy Hobbying!

A unit of Talabheim state troops armed with spears, assembled and ready for priming. It’s amazing that these models still hold up so well despite the sculpts being at least 25 years old. Hoping to get them primed today while the sun is out.
Happy Hobbying!

The first artillery piece has been delivered from the forges of Nuln to the Grand Army of Talabheim. This great cannon and crew were so much fun to build, there’s a tonne of character in the sculpts and I enjoyed making the little scenic base for the cannon. I did toy with the idea of making a larger scenic base which could fit the crew on, but decided against in the end.
The cannon isn’t glued to the base to allow for easier painting.
Happy Hobbying!

The beginnings of my Empire gunline are taking shape. I’ve assembled a unit of sixteen Handgunners which could be split into two smaller detachments of eight, and two Master Engineers who will provide valuable experience and leadership to the various artillery units.
I have a Great Cannon and Hellblaster Volley Gun waiting to be assembled and they will add some heavy firepower to the grand army of Talabheim.
Now I need to get some better weather which will allow me to start priming the models for paint!

I brought out a couple of Empire Master Engineers from cold storage to add to my growing Empire army for Warhammer The Old World.
I’ve had these two models sitting in a drawer for many years, and decided to get them ready and based for priming. I imagine the long rifle-armed engineer will stay at the rear of the army with my artillery pieces, while the one with repeater pistol will marshal my handgunners.

It’s time to break open this relic and get stuck into building an army for Warhammer: The Old World!
I’ve had this Warhammer Fantasy 6th Edition starter set for years, and was waiting for the right time to open it, that time has come as I’ve been really enjoying seeing all TOW armies springing up everywhere. This was the set that got me into Warhammer almost 25 years ago, and the two armies inside (The Empire and Orcs & Goblins) have always been my favourite factions for that reason.
I do have a large Orcs & Goblins army, but never managed to paint an Empire army fully, so now is the time to achieve that hobby goal!
I’ll be painting the army in the classic colour scheme of Talabheim, as that was what drew me all those years ago. The Orcs will be painted in the classic scheme too, but Empire will be the main focus for the next while.
Can’t wait to get the army started!
Happy Hobbying,
Dave

Since the New Year I’ve been working on my remaining Nighthaunt units to complete the Grand Procession of Nagash.
I’ve finished all of the bases (39 bases in total, including some scenic bases for Lady Olynder and the Mortis Engine). These are the beautiful sculpted bases for the Thorns of the Briar Queen, the amount of detail in them is just excellent.
Now that all bases are done, I’m beginning to work on the models themselves.
Happy Hobbying!

Awesome dude, that’s one huge model!
Heyo guys.. Been a bit off the hobby lately. But I'm slowly picking up this or that again
Tonight for example - Boss Hog, finished the rider, only the black flames on the yellow plates to go. Then the Mad Max Side Car Boys and the base and that's one more off the To Do pile 😁

Awesome dude, sounds like a real fun game!
I had another game of epic yesterday, bringing this list
Tumblr media
I was asked if I bring titans so I thought there will be a titan war - there wasn't 🫠
Save to say that they truly are God machines 😅
My opponent quit after I paratrooped an assault squad via Thunderhawk (no hover needed for jump packs 😬) and Vulcan Mega-Boltered two Marauder Bomber who tried to bombing run my titans.. Bad idea when they have an overwatch to pop off..
And that's just a 1625p list, recommended are 3k 😅
Really looking forward to truly epic battles 🤗

Might as well do some OSL for the power weapon/plasma glow too 🙌😂.
Hmm, interesting, I’m intrigued about the legion choice and what it could be? Looking forward to seeing what you do with the Imperialis stuff dude! It’s taken all of my willpower not to dive in, waaaay too many projects waiting to be started already.

I expect no less than 3 colours minimum, each with shading and highlights!
And make it quick, don’t you know there’s a galaxy-spanning civil war going on?! We need reinforcements to the Sol system immediately!
For the Emperor! (Or the Warmaster, I guess, depending on your allegiance 😂).

At long last, I’ve finished the Gang Lookout and Rogue Doc!
They took longer than expected to paint but I really enjoyed working on all the little details. And as always, I had great fun painting the bases. This time I tried a pale turquoise colour for the decking to get that industrial look once it had been weathered up.
Very pleased with the end results, and these two will be right at home in both my Necromunda collection and Genestealer Cult army.
Happy Hobbying
