because so many stories about revenge or rage are about characters “seeing the futility of their actions” or learning “their desire for revenge has only made them the monsters they hated” FUCK THAT.

Inigo Montoya kills the man who kills his father, is allowed to live in the narrative after and be happy about it and it is so satisfying. it’s fantastic. it’s iconic.

let more characters rage against the world, bring it down with bloodied hands, and let them be FUCKING RIGHT about it. Let them celebrate their success with sharp grins, and let them live happy, full lives where they always remain proud/fulfilled for what they’ve done

Summary: Shortly after Gajeel joined Fairytail, you two started to get close. Everyone knew there was something between you two, but you two would never admit it. Even after everything you guys have been through.

Your P.O.V. 

You’re walking in between Lily and Gajeel as you three head home from a job. It was one close to home so it was quick and easy. 

“Y/N, you’re awfully quiet for us just finishing a successful job.” Lily starts 

“Oh! Sorry! Just admiring the city!” You laugh “I feel like we haven’t been able to walk through town for a while without people gushing over us.” 

“Ever since we won the Grand Magic Games.” Gajeel chuckles 

“Ever since you and the team won. I had nothing to do with it.” You correct 

He slightly pushes you away, quickly pulling you back toward him. You look up to see the smile on his face, causing you to smile back.

You would never tell him, but Gajeel had your whole heart. Ever since the beginning, he’s been by your side, threatening anyone who tried to get near you. That’s just the kind of relationship you guys had. You didn’t plan on telling him how you felt. Only one person knew, your best friend, Levy.

“Promise to never leave my side?” You say, nearing the guild hall

“Never. Not even the dragons or Zeref could tear you from my side.” Gajeel says, a smile of his face “Short stack.”

“Metal head.” You joke right back

“Both of you…” Lily laughs as he just shakes his head

You three were too busy laughing that you both didn’t see the purple shadow flying toward you. Feeling the thing wrap around you, you let a scream of surprise out before feeling yourself getting pulled back, harshly. You reach to grab his hand, barely missing it as he tries to grab onto you.

“Y/N!” Gajeel yells

“Gajeel!” You hear a voice cheer “Just the man I wanted to see!”

“Jose…” Gajeel growls “Put Y/N down!”

“Where would the fun be in that? It’s clear your heart has been softened by this fairy.” He taunts “What happened to hating the fairies? To being the fairy hunter you were?”

You struggle against the purple ghosts around you, trying to ignore the pain that was starting to flow through your body. You look at Gajeel and Lily, both of them prepared to fight.

“Gajeel…” you whisper

Gajeel let’s his guard down for one second, letting Jose land an attack, knocking him back into a tree. You watch as Jose throws Gajeel and Lily around, not giving them a chance to get up and try to fight. 

“Join me Gajeel! Come back to your glory days!” Jose bellows

You feel Jose as he laughs, starting to give into the pain that this spell was giving off. You felt another ghost wrap around your throat, starting to cut your air supply off. 

“Put her down!” Gajeel growls 

You try to reassure him, trying to give him a fake smile as you pull at the ghost around your neck. You guys weren’t far from the guild, if you were to let Jose do this, they would eventually come and find Gajeel. That’s all you cared about.

You look back toward him, watching as Lily is in his bigger form, support Gajeel.

“Gajeel… Lily… leave. I’ll be okay.” You gasp out, already feeling yourself start to lose consciousness

“Y/N!” Gajeel yells again “Keep fighting!”

You knew this was the end, there was no way out. Jose was keeping Gajeel at a distance. Jose knew how to beat Gajeel, even if Gajeel has grown since his time in that guild.

“Gajeel… I love you.” You manage to get out before your world went black

Gajeel’s P.O.V.

I watch in horror as Y/N’s body goes limp in Jose’s shadow. Jose’s smirk on his face as he watches us.

“Should’ve never let your heart go soft.” Jose starts “It was never a good look for you my boy.”

I watch as Jose sets Y/N’a body down. My body frozen in my spot before I feel my body overwhelmed with anger.

Lily let’s go of me, my entire body turning to iron. Jose looks impressed before his smirk comes back, egging me on.

“Gajeel, we should get back to the guild. Warn everyone else.” Lily tries to reason

“I didn’t get to tell her. He deserves to pay for her life.” I growl

Lily shrinks, shaking his head. He flies towards Y/N, checking her pulse, a frown immediately seen on his face.

I glare back towards Jose, letting my body do it’s own thing. The only thing it knows how to do, fight.

Levy’s P.O.V.

I hear the doors burst open, Pantherlily standing at the door, frantically looking around.

“Lily!” Happy starts

“We need help. Jose… Jose, Gajeel’s old master. Attacked us on our way back. Gajeel needs help.” He says

“What about Y/N?” Lucy asks

Lily shakes his head, no words being able to form. Lucy looks at me as I connect the pieces. I stiffly nod, following Lily towards the sounds of fighting.

“Iron Dragon Roar!” Gajeel yells

I see the scene come into sight, Gajeel standing in front of Y/N’s body. Jose pinned to the tree, the metal holding him in one spot.

I slow down to a walk, watching as Gajeel goes back to normal, dropping to his knees as he turns toward Y/N. I see the tears streaming down his face as he slowly picks up her body, bringing it into his own.

“I love you too.” He says

~~ Time Skip ~~

I straighten out my dress, staring at the grave in front of me. The entire guild behind me, all of them crying over the loss of their friend.

“Levy, is Gajeel okay?” Lucy asks

I look at her before glancing towards the tall black haired dragon slayer in the distance.

“I don’t know.” I answer honestly “They loved each other. But never got to tell each other till it was too late.”

Gajeel’s P.O.V.

I watch as everyone leaves Y/N’s grave. Levy stops next to me, staring behind me. Her shoulder in line with mine.

“She really did love you.” She says

“I know. She told me.” I answer “Don’t go overworking yourself kid. She wouldn’t want that.” 

“She wouldn’t want you distancing yourself either. She wants the best for all of us.” She reasons “Don’t be a stranger.” 

She walks away as I walk more toward the grave, kneeling in front of it. My hand coming to rest atop of the stone. 

“I loved you too.” I whisper “But heaven’s too far away to stay by your side short stack.” 

I stand up, looking up toward the sky, taking a deep breath. The sun baring down, the warmth hitting my body as I turn around, fixing the suit jacket. 

“I’ll be back.” I promise

You’d be sitting at the table, your hand resting on your stomach. The war was over, your life was about to change with your little one on the way. Ulaz wasn’t sure if he was ready but you knew he’d be a great father. He already had the instincts of one.

“Dear, I’m home!” Ulaz hollers as he walks into your shared home

“In the kitchen.” You call back

You hear his footsteps start to get louder before a gentle kiss is placed on top of your head.

“How are my two favorite people doing?” He whispers

“Your child really enjoys moving when I’m trying to get stuff done.” You tease

He kneels next to the chair you’re sitting in, leaning toward your stomach. His hand resting on your stomach as he starts to whisper things to your little one. 

“You’ll be the greatest thing that has ever happened to mom and me.” He whispers “We're both very excited for you.” 

You chuckle as you set your hand on top of his hands, excited for your family to get a start on life.

Reunited (Levi x Reader)

A/N: Hey guy, I’m back. All of you who have requests, they are coming. Just taking a little bit longer as I’ve been slammed with work. 

Summary: Around the time that Erwin recruited Levi and his two friends, you were a recent graduate, top of your class. You’re the daughter of Grisha Yeager, he brought you to Paradis from Marley, therefore you are Carla’s step daughter. When you joined the scouts, Carla made Keith promise to watch out for you. That was until Erwin suggested that you be partnered up with the rookie squad. Little did they know, you used to run with Levi and his group before you went to be with your dad and step mom.

Your P.O.V. 

You walk into the private rooms, walking toward Commander Shadis’s room. He and squad leader Erwin needed to talk to you. 

You had been off visiting family, seeing your father as well as his newborn son, Eren. You were happy for your father but at the same time, you were starting to miss Zeke back at home. 

“Commander, Captain.” You greet 

“Y/N, glad you made the trip back.” Keith starts “Thanks for meeting with us right away.” 

“Of course. Carla said hi.” You reply before looking at Erwin “I’m assuming this meeting is for something that you are suggesting.” 

“That would be correct.” He says “We’re getting ready to go on another expedition. And we’re bringing three new rookies.” 

“Okay? Why are you telling me this?” You start to question 

“We’re transferring you squads for this job. We’re putting you with Flagon and the rookies from the underground.” Keith starts “I’m sure you’ll be fine. You did graduate top of your class.” 

“What about my squad?” You question 

“Hange will be fine. Might be a little weird for a little bit but she’ll be fine.” Erwin starts 

You look out the window, looking toward the field where you see the other recent recruits plus three new ones. 

Levi... 

Isabel...

Furlan...

Levi’s P.O.V.

I look up to toward the building, seeing the y/c/h in the window. 

“Who is that?” I question 

“Wouldn’t you like to know.” Somebody comments 

“She’s top of our class.” Another starts “Y/N Yeager. Rumor has it that she only really gets a private room because Commander Shadis promised her family that he’d keep a close eye on her.” 

Y/N? 

“Levi, you don’t think...” Furlan starts 

“I don’t know. We haven’t seen Y/N since she left with her father.” I hiss “We’ll stay quiet for now. For now we focus on the job.” 

“She might turn into an enemy, are you prepared for this?” Isabel starts 

“I’ll be fine. Will you?” I retort 

I turn away from the other soldiers before heading back toward the barracks. 

“Lets just get ready to put the plan into action.” I grumble

Walking through the barracks, almost immediately running into somebody. I see the jacket before the gear at their hips. I back up a bit before studying the figure in front of me. 

“Y/N...” I start 

“Levi. It’s been a while.” Y/N starts “I thought you would never join the military.” 

“I thought the same thing about you.” I reply “Thought your parents were against it.” 

“Not like they’ve ever stopped her.” Furlan says 

“Okay the fact that all three of you guys are here, there must be something going on.” She starts, eyeing the three of us

“Don’t know what you’re talking about.” I grumble “Now if you’ll excuse us, we should get some sleep before the big day tomorrow.” 

“Of course.” She whispers 

Your P.O.V. 

You sit in the ruins, your head resting against the wall behind you. 

“Y/N?” Hange starts “I have a question for you.” 

“Ask away Hange.” You drawl “But please remember, that we all need rest.” 

“It will be super fast.” She chuckles 

“Alright, then ask away.” You say

“You and the Levi dude. I saw how you two almost seemed to read each other’s mind out there with that titan.” She starts “Everyone is talking about it.” 

“I-it’s nothing.” You try to brush off 

“I’ve heard things. You ran in the underground for a while didn’t you.” She says “You ran into him and his group, didn’t you.” 

“Hange, I’m done with this. I’m getting some sleep. We have a long day tomorrow.” You say 

“Oh come on!” Hange continues to pry 

“Hange, I love you. You know that. I love your curiosity, but at the same time. We need sleep.” You whisper “And because of how well I know you, don’t go question Levi and them either.” 

Hange goes to complain before you glance at her. She quickly agrees before starting to lay down and starts to fall asleep. You hear a quick whisper, causing you to look over where you see Levi nodding toward the hallway. 

Getting up quietly, you head toward the hallway, watching out for the other soldiers as they are sleeping. 

“What was that about?” He asks 

“Just Hange being Hange.” You answer “What’s it to you?” 

“Well she was questioning you about me.” He continues 

“It was more about me and when I ran in the underground.” You point out “You don’t need to worry about it. Nobody knows about you and me. Just like we agreed when I left the underground.” 

Levi looks at you, just shaking his head. He takes one last look before heading back toward the other three. You just shake your head, heading back toward your mat, almost immediately falling asleep.

Your hood being held to your face as you ride through the rain, you were separated when the rain started to pour down. You were separated from Flagon as well as Levi and the others. 

You weren’t worried about Levi and the others but at the same time, you were. They didn’t have the years of training that you did. Sure Levi could fight, the killing of the titan just proved that. But at the same time, they were caught up on training within a few short months, that can’t be enough time to really learn how to deal with these kind of expeditions or even titans in this kind of weather. 

“Levi!” You yell out 

You didn’t care if this revealed the big secret or anything. You knew nobody would care if they didn’t make it back, but that is where everyone was wrong. You would care, you know you made a promise but if it meant the difference between life or death than you would break the promise. 

“Damnit, Levi, where are you?” You hiss 

You finally hear a yell before you starting direction your horse toward where you think you heard the fighting. 

Shortly afterward, you see Erwin’s blonde hair as he’s holding Levi’s blade away from his body. 

You can’t hear what is being said as you near them before you see that Levi is the only one standing. Levi sees you, his eyes almost looking relieved. You watch as his eyes dart back and that’s when you see the three corpses, or at least what is left of them. You slowly nod your head in understanding as you bring your horse to a halt next to them. 

“Yeager, where were you?” Erwin asks 

“I was separated when the storm started sir. I’ve been trying to find everyone else ever since.” You explain 

Erwin glances between the two of you before turning his horse around, looking back toward the wall. 

“Welcome to the scouts Levi.” He says, starting the retreat back toward the wall 

You ride next to Levi on the way back, the entire ride almost silent before you grab his reins and pull him back, taking up the rear of the soldiers that are left. 

“What the hell happened?” You whisper “What did I miss?” 

“Looks like you and me are going to be a team again. I’m officially joining the scouts.” Levi grumbles “This time not as some sort of fake job. This time to avenge Isabel and Furlan.”
