I don't think fic writers know how much they matter
Do you know how many times you distracted me when I was hurt or lonely? Do you know how many times a line or a scene from fanfic marked me so much that I remembered years later, even though I can’t recall my own phone number?
Even if the fic isn’t perfect or popular or multi-chaptered… Sometimes there’s just one sentence that changed me.
You, miles and miles away, changed me.

wow, i’ve been inactive for quite a while!
i’ve been dipping in and out of the bnha fandom for a while, but here’s a  transcript segment from the fic that i’m probably going to leave unfinished for now. it’s at the beginning of the story.
(please pardon some blank parts! i’m not sure how transcripts work in these situations haha)
A transcript of a police interview with UA Student Bakugou Katsuki regarding the Kamino Ward Incident. [Part 1. Time:  : , Location: _____ Police Station, Room _. Interviewer: Officer Naomasa Tsukauchi.]
[A click, then rustling sounds are heard, along with some light thuds, likely from the Officer Tsukauchi adjusting the recording device. The rustling of paper is heard, along with the clicking of a pen.]
:readmore:
Tsukauchi: I just need verbal consent - not exactly required by law, but just a formality. Please say, “I consent to this recording being used for police investigation.”
Bakugou: Tch. [thuds heard on desk] I consent to this recording being used for police investigation. [scratching noise]
Tsukauchi: Thank you. Sorry we had to go through these formalities, just legal things and all that. I’m very grateful for you taking time out of recovery, especially so recently after the incident, to report your story of events.
Bakugou: Yeah, yeah, you can spare all of the pity bullshit. Just get to the point - ask me all the fucking questions you need to.
Tsukauchi: Are you sure you’re ok-?
[He is quickly interrupted by Bakugou, who slams his fists on the desk.]
Bakugou: [through seemingly gritted teeth] You don’t have to treat me like some newborn baby or a fragile doll. I’m fine. I wouldn’t be doing all of this shit if I wasn’t fine.
[A short period of silence follows. Only the scratching of pencil on paper can be heard]
Tsukauchi: Alright then. The stage is yours What is your first memory of the incident?
Bakugou: Well. The fuckers had me tied up to some steel chair that was padded? - Yeah, PADDED - when I first woke up. Two leather straps running down from my shoulders, another across my waist, my hands were locked in some goddamn metal box thing.
Tsukauchi: Can you recall the setting in which you woke up in?
Bakugou: Yeah. Shitty run-down bar, wooden floor, traditional brick wall, bar had a- a red surface I think? To the right of me. Lots of drinks. Purple curtain behind the bar, some signs with outdated permits or shit, I can’t remember that well. There was an old TV on the left. They kept me in the same place the whole fucking time I was- I was there. ‘Cept- [silence]
Tsukauchi: Except?
[Bakugou stays silent.]
Tsukauchi: Thank you for that. Can you describe the events that immediately occurred after you woke up?
Bakugou: Leader Shigaraki hands fucker invited ME to join the LEAGUE. [scoffs] Idiots. Still don’t know why they decided to choose ME, the MOST DEDICATED student to being a hero.
Tsukauchi: Mhm.
Bakugou: The idiot was like,  “Bakugou Katsuki. I’ve heard a lot about you blah blah blah, something about my VIOLENT PASSION and USEFUL Quirk making me a great fit for the League, blah blah more about their [says sarcastically] GLORIOUS plans for me when I’m in the League,” Super tempting, DEFINITELY.
[voice is breathier and amplified]
Bakugou:  For the damn record, I had no intention of joining them. Of COURSE I was gonna say NO!
[voice grows quieter, as if the speaker is moving away from the recording device]
Bakugou: and I WAS LIKE, “There’s no way in HELL I’ll ever join you, the epitome of evil, villains.” - something super cool, like in those scenes in old pre-Quirk era movies where the hero’s captured and yeah- and they just. Laughed at first. I got old for them once they asked for the third time and I was the one laughing in their faces, telling them to wake up from their dumbass dream that I, UA STUDENT BAKUGOU KATSUKI, would ever join them. Compress dude called me dumb, and I was ready to THROW HANDS.
Tsukauchi: Got that. Was all of the League present there?
Bakugou: Everyone who was at the summer camp attack was there - Shigaraki, hands guy, I knocked off the hand on his face at some point, he DESERVED IT, got mad as hell. Kurogiri, the mist dude who just stood there pouring drinks and attempting to offer some calming words to hands guy whenever he would get into a pissy fit. Almost NEVER worked. Toga Himiko, the blonde knife girl who likes to suck blood - she can turn into other people and was creepy as HELL, found Deku “cute” [shudders] or some shit, she’s fucking OBSESSED with the guy  -, Compress, off-brand magician whose practice was probably so unsuccessful he had to resort to villainy, always blabbing about magician tricks and showbiz stuff. Uhh, Spinner, the lizard dude, Magne, the buff woman, Twice, the dude in a full bodysuit who acts like he has multiple personalities - I’m pretty sure he can clone himself.
Tsukauchi: This information has been invaluable so far.
Bakugou: It better be.
Tsukauchi: Mhm. [scribbles something down] Did anything happen in between their attempts at convincing you to join them?
Bakugou: Yeah. Most of the time it just seemed like they were. Waiting. Which they probably were, considering- Yeah. All the shit that- that happened.
Tsukauchi: Yeah.
Bakugou: Most of them were just lounging on the sofa or hanging out at the bar, not really doing anything except chatting about creepy villain shit – they would never talk loud enough for me to hear, and since my hearing aids were FUCKING GONE - I need them because I literally blow my ears out due to my explosions BUT DON’T TELL ANYONE - I couldn’t hear basically ANYTHING. GODDAMN IT.
Tsukauchi: You weren’t expected to do anything, you were in a compromising situation-
Bakugou: Well of FUCKING COURSE I couldn’t let that happen! I can’t just be, be USELESS, sitting pretty, waiting for the heroes, the HEROES, ALL MIGHT, to save me. Shit. I’ll- I’ll get back to the question. Shigaraki would disappear the most, didn’t tell anyone else why, and Kurogiri sometimes went with him. Always would come back with a gleam in his eye and tried to convince me again, but of fucking course, it never worked. Remember the TV I mentioned earlier?
Tsukauchi: Mhm.
Bakugou: Yeah. Most of the time, the bastards would just turn on the news and try and taunt me about how helpless I was, how the heroes would NEVER find me - once again, NEVER BELIEVED THAT. They CAN’T fucking break me, they never WILL, they-
[gulping noise]
[scribbles on paper]
Bakugou: But. But sometimes. They would switch to this channel which only had the purple words “Audio Only” on the screen. It was the main form of communication with their- with their boss. Called him [gulp] “Sensei”. H-he would occasionally offer them advice, give them progress updates on the “p-project” they were doing, give tips on how to manipulate me and ask how I was doing to them as if I W-WASN’T THERE.
Tsukauchi: Could you tell me more about this “Sensei”?
[Everything grows quiet.]
Bakugou: FUCK him. Literally FUCK HIM. I- FUCK! [bangs on desk] Fucking shit. Fucking hell. He- [hiccups] He- [bang on desk]
Tsukauchi: It’s okay, it’s okay. You can take a break - you don’t have to talk about it. You can go outside and get some fresh air and drink some water, and come back in when you’re ready-
Bakugou: Fuck! I hate this! I hate being this, this fucking WEAK- [bangs on desk]
Tsukauchi: Bakugou, you’re not weak for this, you’re strong for surviving, for pulling through-
Bakugou: IF I WAS STRONG ENOUGH, I WOULD STILL- I WOULD STILL- I would still…
[loud bangs slowly quiet, until only the light thumping of the desk can be heard]
[sniffles fill the background]
[chair screeches] [pause]
Bakugou: I’m- I’m going to head out. Fu-FUCK this. I can’t stand this shit.
[The door handle is shakily twisted open, the door’s hinges creak, and footsteps slowly grow quieter and quieter.]
[clip ends]

Fic writer aesthetic
- you just had a brilliant idea. it’s 3am - bonus: you have something important the next day - “wow I wrote so much, let’s see the word counter” 350 words “LIES” - when your worst work gets the most attention - “[AO3] You’ve got kudos!” emails are your lifeblood, water your crops, and clear your skin - B L A N K P A G E S O F D O O M - playing the entire story out in your head. never writing it - watching or reading anything ever and imagining an au - making playlists to write to. never writing - getting an “[AO3] Comment on ______” email and doing the thing. you know the one - headcanons. so many headcanons - spending days or weeks on a piece - watching the hit count rise and the kudos count stay on said work - when will the kudos return from war

It’s true that you always want to give up, and try to find the easy way out. But it didn’t matter if you were last or how much you complained, whether or not our senpais or teachers were watching. You always saw it through until the end.
