And I have to add -> if anyone can overcome a low M count, a low aptitude for the Force, it's Sabine Wren.

Why?

Because she's a freaking child prodigy.

She can speak multiple languages fluently. She invented a weapon of mass destruction before she was 16 years old. She can see patterns and meanings in different types of art where others cannot. She is a mechanical, engineering and explosives expert before she even reaches adulthood. She had four or so years to watch and learn from Kanan and Ezra (and a bit from Ahsoka), then obviously her training with the Darksaber. She was always shown to be hard-working and task driven, and always up for a challenge.

Not to mention, the way she can dart and spring around a battlefield in Rebels is very Jedi-like. She's probably subconsciously using the Force already to aid in her athleticism without even realising it. If she wasn't raised Mandalorian, a culture that is stubborn and headstrong, she might have already shown a higher aptitude for the Force in her younger years.

And on that note, that stubbornness and determination from her upbringing are what helps her unlock her potential in the end. She doesn't give up, she doesn't let herself be killed by the Night-trooper. She pursues her 'Jedi' education despite her setbacks in her mentorship with Ahsoka. For better or worse, she's a dog with a bone that refuses to yield. No shit she managed to wield the Force after so many years.

Who knows how many years she also spent trying to learn the Force from Ahsoka before their hiatus. From suggestions in some things said in the series, it could have been as long as from around the Battle of Yavin 4 through to the Battle of Endor. That's potentially another 4 years of trying to learn to use the Force.

So yeah, anyone could use the Force. Especially someone like Sabine Wren.

Tumblr needs to stop recommending me posts where people are groaning about Ahsoka confirming anyone can use the Force and then proving immediately they have no idea what they're talking about.

"Well if anyone can use the Force, why would the Jedi reject anyone?" Huyang literally says why. Since the Old Republic, anyone below a certain threshold wouldn't even be considered. Their training would take far too long - if they even made progress at all.

Also, the Jedi weren't just going around blood testing anyone and everyone for their Midichlorian counts. They would seek out cases of interest. Qui-Gon did not immediately blood test Anakin. Not until he realized that Anakin likely was Force Sensitive.

As for those found through the trance-like state some Jedi would go into to seek younglings out, I imagine that still wasn't a process that named anyone and everyone.

We're also ignoring the fact that despite Anakin having such a high Midichlorian count, the Council didn't want him trained anyway - he was too old. Jedi began training at a young age for multiple reasons.

Even if someone was taken back to the temple, they still had to make it through the intiate/youngling phase. They still had to show they were capable enough to move on to be a Jedi Padawan. Those that weren't were given the opportunity to join the Service Corps or straight up told to go home.

This hasn't been said yet, but I imagine the Jedi minimum was established because that was the average threshold where most of their candidates weren't getting sent home.

TLDR: Sabine was clearly the exception. Not the rule. Media literacy is dead.

Ugh, lemme see what my inability-to-focus brain has scrawled out... Both of these are (or will be) part of my Reach Out universe.

Papaver Rhoeas (little one-shot, set one year before RO&FM)

Sabine wiped her brow on the back of her sleeve, leaving a stain of dirt and sweat on her flight suit that she couldn’t wait to get out of and wash. Digging graves was neither easy nor fun, even when they were for Imperials. The ground was thick and heavy, rich with nutrients and damp from autumn rains, and Sabine’s entrenching tool that she’d borrowed from the pathfinders wasn’t the most effective of shovels. The trooper she had just lain to rest wasn’t very big; she was slight and petite, just like Sabine. She sat next to the body, breathing in hard from the exertion from her task, and could not help but be dragged into thought as she noticed some painful similarities the woman she had killed shared.

Reach Out and Feel Me - Chapter 26 - The Messenger

A few moments later, Ahsoka realised her mind had kicked into a hidden crevasse of her consciousness; the language the actors were speaking was Togruti. Ahsoka had assumed that Sabine would have been watching the holodrama dubbed, or at least with subtitles. She looked down at her lover to see a little found-out smirk on the younger woman’s lips. “Yeh huhk det te'ama?” Ahsoka asked in her mother tongue, incredulous at the discovery. “Ku, mi huhk,” Sabine answered softly, smiling back up at her lover. Her tone and accent were flawless, and Ahsoka felt her heart do somersaults as her lover caressed her montrals with the Togruti language. (Togruti translations – hopefully) Yeh huhk det te'ama = You follow the words? Ku, mi huhk = yes, I follow

so I'm actually going to offer two lines/snippets, because I literally just finished a snippet for the Shin Tano AU discord and the piece that's in my folder from the Western AU that can be found here!

Shin Tano AU Act 4 (Mentions of NSFW!)

Being able to press their head into the soft warmth of Sabine’s chest, the blonde finally released a heavy sigh. “Thank you-“ “Dude-“ fingers tapped against her chin until their eyes met once again. “We’re married, you don’t have to thank me for sex- and also, you ate me out-“ “And I’m thanking you for the meal, you’ve done it before-“ Sabine paused, cheeks warming as her head turned. “Hey, sometimes I forget you know Mando’a, and that was years ago- I can’t be blamed for things I said when I was someone’s prisoner-“ a finger pressed accusatorily into their shoulder, though there was no real malice in her words. “A bitch was going through it, leave me alone.” “Didn’t you have a meeting with the Mand’alor?” Shin leaned back with a smirk on their lips, wiping the drying slick from their chin with a mischievous grin. “Dude, they were going into the armory to fuck, you saw them-“ “I was more focused on dinner, actually-“ Sabine winced as she remembered the sight of broad shoulders and soft fur brushing past her. “Yeah, something tells me the Mand’alor was too-“

Reforged Chapter Two

"Why should we listen to her?!" Someone spat from the thick throng of their group, a fiery glare sent towards the redhead as she shifted on her mount. The question seemed to unsettle their entire squad as several other poorly muted conversations cropped up, all loudly asking the same thing. Before Din could break it up, Paz was pulling himself onto a boulder against the mountainside, still carefully nursing his injured arm. "We'll listen to her because that is my son!" His steely gaze rounded into Bo-Katan. "And because it is the way our people have survived, ya'll know these kids are all we've got!" His hand raised to remove his hat, greasy hair falling in his face as he bowed his head to the outsider. "Now you two get up that mountain, and show those sons'abitches what happens when you fuck with a Mandalorian." With the fire under their asses relit once more, Bo-Katan was able to lose herself in the familiar ache of her muscles as she scaled the cliffside, Din only feet below, and the rest of the covert only growing smaller the higher the pair went, searching for safe handholds and letting rocks clatter the rest of the way down.
