IMO all West End theatre should have a proshot. Surely we’ve seen by now that there are advantages. There seems to be this rigid idea that it would dilute the experience, lose revenue and stop people bothering to attend live performances.

In fact the people who would buy it are those who…

A. Have seen a show, love it and want to keep the memory.

B. Could never see it live anyway (expense, time, location, disability unfriendly theatres *cough* The Fortune *cough*) etc.

It’d only do good to let more people engage with theatre, become fans and buy merch. No one who is actually a theatre goer wouldn’t bother with a show they can access live ONLY because there’s a way of watching it on a laptop.

The music industry realised that they had to find a way of outclassing illegal music sharing platforms by creating legit ones that were affordable and easy to use, rather than just bitching about piracy. Theatre should do the same. National Theatre at Hone is a great example to follow.

Oh my God.

In a very specific me type scenario I’ve accidentally and upsettingly seen a spoiler for Cap in series 5 of Ghosts (which I still haven’t watched) while searching for pictures of another hot fictional member of HM Forces, Colonel Johnny Bevan from Operation Mincemeat the musical. *Sigh*

At least my Ghosts obsession has cost me under £50 total (downloads and a novelty mug), whereas my parasocial fixation on Bevan will have cost me £1,800 by July in theatre tickets, trains to London a Cameo request and, of course, a novelty mug. I wish I was joking. I am not.

Choose your fixations carefully folks, transient entertainment ones are sooooo much worse than recorded media ! 🫣

Here’s hoping my next one is a literary character about whom lots of nice, free fanfic is written. 🤞😂

I will always be sad that Capulian never really became a thing. Look at them!

I think Julian *would* and Cap could be persuaded. Broad shouldered and tall is his type. PatCap, charming as it is, just doesn’t make sense to me.

Asking for me. I might have seen someone’s Twitter pic of them on holiday with a man and worried that it’s their boyfriend.

Turns out to be a gay man, so sigh of relief, despite the fact that…

1. Absolutely no reason to think she’s a lesbian.

2. She wouldn’t touch me with a 20 foot pole if she was.

3. I nearly had a panic attack about needing to find out enough to discount the “boyfriend” without accidentally finding out any more information.

4. I did find out she doesn’t dress masc in real life and have decided to just mentally discount that.

Unpopular Ghosts opinion. Come at me! 😉🤣

I’m disappointed that series 5 will be the last, not only because I’ll miss the show and the characters (especially Cap, obvs) but because I feel like lots of opportunities were missed.

There are a total of three hours left. How can they do justice to every strand they began to weave?

Frankly, they missed the chance to give Mary real character development and backstory. It’s not like they couldn’t have talked about witch trials, misogyny, social exclusion, etc, without it being poignant and funny. (See “The Witchfinder” with Daisy May Cooper, or even some Terry Pratchett). They gave her very little to do as a character and I was disappointed. This is especially irritating bearing in mind how much filler there has been in some episodes written during lockdown.

Considering how much trouble they went to to show ghost characters from previous eras impacting the “lives” of the current ghosts, they’ve done nothing with that really.

They had the whole of history to play with!

I don’t hold out much hope for Kitty’s ending. We’ll find out how she died, but what about her whole range of experience as a Georgian black woman?

Thomas has never had any character development. There was a point when he looked like he would, but it’s as if the Idiots forgot about it and returned to writing him as if he didn’t learn anything from the revelations of his death episode.

There are more!

Not trying to do the performers out of cash (I’ve paid for a LOT of tickets!!) but just don’t want to think that’ll be it after the run!

Can’t envisage they’ll release a filmed performance like some musicals did during Covid.
