Elain looked up at Azriel, their eyes meeting, his hand still lingering on the hilt of the blade. I saw the painting in my mind: the lovely fawn, blooming spring vibrant behind her. Standing before Death, shadows and terrors lurking over his shoulder. Light and dark, the space between their bodies a blend of the two.

What caught my attention is that Feyre never really titled her painting, but also how she described Elain in the artist's mind, and because of her allusion to the Illyrians as death, I immediately remembered how she described Lucien when they first entered the townhouse.

I’d never asked Rhys if he’d informed them. From the fury rippling from Cassian, the cold rage seeping from Azriel … I didn’t think so. Lucien, to his credit, didn’t back away a step. From Rhys, or me, or the Illyrians. The Clever Fox Stares Down Winged Death. The painting flashed into my mind.

In Feyre's mind, she equated Elain and Lucien in a similar situation: two woodland creatures who face Death unflinchingly.

Like Calls to Like.

There's also something that caught my attention when I first read this, wondering if it foreshadows a scenario in the future where Elain and Lucien would have to confront Death again, considering the pattern of a weapon being given as a gift.

op this is so fucking funny. what about nick?

hey guys i’m here to make the weirdest post i’ll ever make but i just have to get this off my chest. so basically a few months ago i had a weirdly vivid dream about nick grajeda from the suburb talks podcast just like. being in acotar. but the podcast part is kinda besides the point bc i got like weirdly attached to this dream and now i just have an oc named nick (who is very vaguely based off of the nick in my dream) in the acotar universe in my head. like it ended up morphing and spiraling out of control and now in my own internal acotar universe feyre has this best friend named nick who’s just like There. LMFAO. but like it’s kinda good bc his existence keeps her from getting all weird post-acowar bc she actually like keeps her personality and has friends outside of rhys’s since he gets thrown in the cauldron with the archerons. it’s gotten so bad that today i saw a post going on about how feyre doesn’t rlly have non-ic friends (which imo it’s implied she does w the artists but like tbf we haven’t seen that with our eyes so i get it) and my first reaction was “what about nick??” bitch….. you made him up based on a dream. but like i fr cannot explain how entrenched he got in my inner acotar world like. he doesn’t rlly do much even. he ends up making his way to spring (idek how don’t ask) and is just chilling there for half the first book but he doesn’t do anything except make stupid commentary and enable feyre’s near-death decisions LMAO. i’m really this close to writing a fanfic but who the hell would read an acotar fanfic where everything is the same except this annoying ass man shows up being feyre’s best friend, pissing off rhys, and making jokes at inappropriate moments. and the nyx plotline doesn’t exist. not anything to do with nick i just hate it. but anyways now that i got this off my chest hopefully i can start to be normal about it. thank u to the 0 ppl who will read this xoxo

I just had a realization. So in acotar, we learn from Alis that Amarantha had declared herself high queen of Prythian. Later in acosf, Rhys is advised by some of his inner circle to take over Pythian and become the high king. I just realized that they were asking him to take on the same position as the woman who tormented him for 50 years. This just further shows how disconnected the inner circle was from Rhys’s trauma from those 50 years he spent as Amarantha’s sex slave.

Lucien having chronic migraines due to his eye loss and his prosthesis, it getting worse with the weather and stress but he pretends it doesn't bother him but he has chronic pain and it can get bad enough it can cause eye problems in his good eye
