SCREECHING ABOUT THE UPDATE!!!!

Leo's finally managed to reconnect with his ninpo! Though how long can he keep it up, still injured and exhausted and no where near at the top of his game. Still more than enough to make things even more difficult and another tool to be used to spite the EPF. And Mikey has found him?!? I hope? Also the teaser for chapter 14 has me a bit worried that he's actually not going to get out, as in he's going to be dragged back from following his family through a portal at the last second...

He did! He did! :D As for how long he can keep it up? Well… let’s maybe just cross our fingers that Leo’s got some help incoming ;)

But Chapter 12: Prison Break is finally up!

Summary:

Just the idea of trying to portal sent a chill skittering down his shell.

Portalling brought him back to the Invasion, back to grabbing Krang Prime and teleporting them into the Prison Dimension. Trapping them there. Locking Leo in with the monster that then nearly beat him to death.

Going into a portal meant going into a prison.

…He missed it, though.

Aww, I’m glad you like my fics!! Also, that’s hilarious that we both like ROTTMNT and TUA XD. The two are literally polar opposites, but… we like what we like lol (Also, hah, “doppelgänger”, I get it (unless there wasn’t meant to be a joke behind that, in which case, oops)).

The Glass Pawn Ch. 14 Sneak Peek

Still cranking along, slowly but surely (;

...Anyone fancy a sneak peek at the final chapter?

“Don’t move, turtle!”

A fresh round of adrenaline flushed through Leo’s system. He jolted, and that seemed to release some of his locked-up muscles. Blinking the stars out of his vision, he struggled to his feet despite the agony in his plastron. Just as he was about to turn around to face the newcomers, a five-fingered hand seized his arm. He jumped hard, skin crawling, and kicked out behind him. His foot made contact with an armored torso; however, he was the one who fell, his traitorous knee buckling under his weight. The soldier released him, and he landed on his side with an “Oomf!”

Before anyone else could grab him, he threw himself into a frantic crawl. His knee pulsed as he dragged his right leg behind him, unwilling to use it for fear that the pain would hinder him more than a fourth limb would help him. 

Almost ther— 

White-hot lightning seared through his bad leg as a rough, gloved hand latched around his ankle and yanked. Leo yelled out, loud and raw, tears springing to his eyes. 

Come on, please, I’m so close, just let me— What? Escape? Have a win for once in his sorry life? Yeah, right.

No I will not elaborate on this.

The dynamic in Rise between the rest of the team and Leo is. so fucking funny. Because like you've got these three extremely talented individuals who all seem like perfectly reasonable people at first glance, right, but then if you squint hard enough you realize they're actually all batshit insane (affectionate) and the clown boy standing behind them is secretly their common sense.

Clown boy will occasionally put himself and the others in danger to Prove Himself or Prove Someone Wrong (see Minotaur Maze and the movie) but like otherwise... i think people forget Leo's overwhelmingly the voice of reason in most situations?

Raph, Mikey, and Donnie are all incredibly powerful boys with very specific skill sets. They are also, as a direct result of this, the WORST decision-makers on god's green earth lmao. When presented with a problem, Raph will smash, Donnie will blow shit up, and Mikey will razzmatazz. They will all run straight toward death with the same oblivious enthusiasm of a dog about to run straight into a screen door. None of them realize this and all of them think they are Extremely Good At Problem-Solving.

And the guy cursed with the common sense to realize this is literally the LAST person anyone would expect.

When you look closely, the entirety of Rise is actually a chronicle of Leo trying to find new and creative ways to keep this team of superpowered fools alive while simultaneously white-knuckling his Cool Fun Guy persona so the others don't realize he's secretly the Boring Responsible One. Haha, you know what would be Cool and Fun, guys? Not going after the Spine Breaking Bandit lol. Getting home before the sun goes up lol. Evacuating that civilian lol. Not telling the guy dangling me off a roof "you won't, no balls" lol.

The sacred struggle of every iteration of Leonardo is thanklessly wrangling the most trigger-happy siblings in the world, and Rise Leo has not escaped it. He just does an occasional shenanigan to avoid detection and his brothers fall for it every time.

TGP Update/Ch 12 Sneak Peek

Sorry for disappearing on y'all for a hot second there. Life, amiright? 🥲 (Also Ch 13 was fighting me tooth and nail, which was supremely frustrating and somewhat contributed to my unintended break, but it's finished(?), so we're good(??).)

In other words, I'm finally back to working on TGP! Unfortunately, I can't say when I'll be able to post the next chapter. I wanna finish Ch 14 before I post any more because Ch 12-14 are all mostly one continuous scene that occurs over the course of like 12-ish hours in the story, so as you can imagine, the info in each chapter has a pretty significant overlap. If I post a chapter and then change something in a later chapter, then I'd have to go back and edit the already posted chapter, yada yada

I'll try to post more sneak peeks in the meantime but no guarantees about that bc it is becoming increasingly hard to find any little snippets that don't have major spoilers in them lol

Nevertheless, I did manage to snag this from Ch 12:

“I escaped once. I can do it again.” 

“Oh, of course, of course, that may be true,” Bishop replied evenly. “If you actually escaped in the first place.” 

A stone settled in Leo’s gut. “What?” 

“You didn’t really think you were smart enough to slip through my fingers, did you? Leonardo, you are a pawn in my game. I let you go. It was all part of my plan. You were meant to lead us to your brothers and distract them such that by the time they realized something was amiss, it would be too late.” Bishop paused, lip curling. “You even managed to get us three-quarters of the way there. Before screwing everything up. Am I detecting a pattern here?”

Leo couldn’t answer.

i would like to say I was wearing an eyepatch for like 30 minutes and I decided i was good to take it off. the light was so startling to see and my first though was ‘holy shit leo had this like… 200x worse…’ while thinking ab tgp

The devastation. They were so close and then the EPF got Leo again. Poor Donnie waking up to find out they had failed. Poor Mikey not being able to stop them from taking him again and poor Raph not getting back quick enough...

And poor Leo being so so close and then ending back in that wretched cell again. Glad to see he still has some of his pettiness and still trying to make things difficult for the EPF. Poor guy is not is a great place mentally. This whole ordeal has just been chip chip chipping away at him and yet he's still clinging to anything he can even though things are crumbling around him...

This angst is very good.

Everyone is literally on their very last tattered, cracked, bent, dirty straw <3 There will definitely be some overcompensation going on among Leo's brothers as a result of this fiasco. Leo's gonna be just delighted (but that's a problem for the sequel...)

And if everyone else is on their last straw, then Leo's straw is just this scrap of plastic he found that might've once been a straw, but could also very well just be a piece of a 100-year-old plastic water bottle that never got recycled. Even so, he's gonna cling to that maybe-straw if it's the last thing he does.

He'll be fine :)
