Short horror story writing attempt 1:
A touch of what felt like cold fingers on my cheek woke me up from sleep. As I opened my eyes, I saw her sitting by the side of the bed, her brown eyes watching me, gleaming with affection, her long wavy hair messy yet so neat. She placed her hands, still cold, around my cheeks, and leaned down, brushing her lips against mine. Her kiss carried a whisper with a chilly breeze.
“Baby,” she said slowly. “Wake up. It’s time.”
She kissed my forehead and started walking away. She looked beautiful in her long red gown, glancing back at me, gesturing me to follow as she sauntered out of the room. I sat up. I stood up. I walked across the room following her out as if pulled by an invisible thread that bound us together.
I walked out of the familiar bedroom and walked into an unfamiliar looking sitting-room. It was my sitting-room alright, but - it was darker than the dark, carpeting disintegrating, ceiling crumbling, walls rotten and rusted. This room was dying, or maybe it died a long time back, and now only the rot remained, cursed to decay for eternity. I looked around searchingly and found no doors or windows, even the one I came in from had disappeared into the darkness. Nothing comes in this room. Nothing goes out of this room.
In the midst of this ugliness, untouched by it, there she stood in front of me, waving at me to come close to her. As I walked to her, I could see she was holding something in her hands. It was a gun, my gun.
“Avenge me,” she said, pushing the gun forward. “It’s time you punish the guilty. It’s time you punish the one who took me away from you.”
“How?” I ask. “I don’t know what or who took you away from me.”
“He is here. He is right here with us.”
I throw a quick searching look all around the room again, and all I see and all I feel is the darkness around me. “Where is he?” I ask her.
“Listen closely, very closely, and you’ll hear his whisper, you’ll hear his guilty voice.”
I listen, and I start hearing a faint whisper from a dark corner of the room. I take the gun from her and point it at the whispering corner. Slowly, the whisper spreads in all corners of the room. It’s loud, and it’s everywhere now. I point the gun everywhere and nowhere, in turmoil and confusion.
“Don’t you remember how you lost me?” She asks with tears welled up in her eyes.
How? Who? Why? What?  All the questions were pacing my mind. I felt a cold shiver down my spine as it all came back to me. “You killed yourself,” I replied.
“And where are we?”
I found myself weeping and shaking my head. “Why? Who did this to you?” I asked, as my gun still followed the obscure whispers.
“Open your eyes, and you’ll know!”
I open my eyes and find myself standing in the middle of the sitting room, with a gun in my hand, pointed to my head. I burst into tears, realising the pain of the loss now. My wife, my beautiful wife! I am so sorry I hurt you. I didn’t mean to!
And with one last breath, I pull the trigger and punish the guilty.

Just Another Episode of Sleep Paralysis.... Or Is It?
A sequence from my personal writing project:
Tumblr media
I still remember that cold dark night, with silence dead and loud, with air weary and empty, darkness clobbering up the weak incandescent night light in the room.
I jolted awake in the middle of the night, breathing heavily, drenched in sweat, unable to move my hands, legs, face. I tried to push myself back up, and couldn’t move a muscle, the gravity increased tenfold, invisible spectral claws clenched my chest, pushing me down as a predator dominates over its hunt.
I struggled and struggled, breathing heavily, eyes welling up, anxiety and fear creeping up within me!
And then I felt a presence!
I was not alone.
A wave of cold overflowed the dark space, the darkness now felt darker, the silence was menacing, the air was murky and not empty anymore, it reeked of a rotten stench, a stench that was gradually getting stronger, wafting through the room.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a shadow sauntering, almost floating towards me.
I tried to fight through this foul paralysis to shift my face in the direction of the nearing entity, and I did, barely enough.
“Who are you? What the fuck do you want? What have you done to me?” The words cried out loud in my mind, failed to escape my immovable lips.
It was by the foot of my bed now, bringing with it a rotten reek and degrading cold, and for a brief second, I met its eyes! Those familiar eyes!
With a blink of a second, I woke on up on my bed. I could move! I could move again, I am not dying! I throw searching glances around the room, empty again.
Was it real? Was I dreaming? It felt so real, so bloody real! It was just a dream! I said to myself, sitting up on the bed, staring nowhere and breathing normally again.
I felt icy touches of fingers on my back; the wave of cold back again, pinching my skin, the foul rotten stench back again sickening my very soul. A cold chill went up and down my back when I realised that it was right behind me.
Taking a deep breath, I slowly turned my face around and found those familiar eyes again, staring away at me. And then I saw her face; it scared me, it agonised me, then it made me cry, it made me smile!
My love! My wife! It was the first time I got to see her again, since her death 5 years ago!
She whispered, a faint, breathless hiss, uttering just one word - KILL!
