Do you listen to your heart or your brain?

I tend to play rounds of ping pong with both; my heart and my brain. Even though my brain tends to not want to listen to my heart, I know more than likely when the situation’s end result comes to the surface that my heart was right from the beginning.

Moral of the story: Trust your heart. The heart knows what it wants and your heart is most of the time right even though our hearts are located on the left side of our bodies.

Self Harm is a huge battle that many adolescents and adults face; including myself. Many parents think it is for attention when it is not.

I faced self harm so far for 14 years. Some days is harder than others, but focusing on grounding myself helps so much. I drew this picture for reminding myself that wrists are for bracelets not for cutting.

If I could give anyone advice that is struggling with this, it would be just because you relapse and struggle does not mean that you are a failure. Tomorrow is a new day and a fresh start. Build a support network, if you do not have one then try to have at least one person you can turn to when you are struggling deeply with self harm thoughts. Also know you are not alone and always embrace the scars.
