I think too many indie games are becoming popular for being indie games(see moonlighter, ashen, ooblets, Wargroove, Loop Hero, Cult of the Lamb) when in the days of old, the only path to popularity was excellence.
Given the birdsite reckoning, I'll do a small introduction of my game for Tumblr!
I'm working on Legends of Astravia--a dramatic JRPG set in a world of magic. It features an overworld of Zelda-like dungeons filled with puzzles and an exciting turnless battle system.
Its heaviest influences are Golden Sun, FF7 and Chrono Trigger.
I recently redid the character art myself, hoping to go for something a bit more personalized. I'll hopefully have some more interesting screenshots, art process, and updates in the future!
I've been working on the game for a few years now. It's a bit overscoped, but I'm having a lot of fun making it.
Feel free to ask me any questions about the game on this blog! Otherwise, there's a slightly outdated demo available on itch.io and Steam if you'd like to try it out.
Played this game for 3 hours today and it felt like maybe 30 minutes. Time was in a 'parabox' itself. It does a great job at easing you into new concepts and giving you challenging puzzles to tackle if you'd like. As a masochist, I obviously chose to clear all the rooms as I went, but every bit was satisfying and none overly frustrating.
HIGH recommend to puzzle fans out there. It's on switch and PC!
This is lookin' like up my alley. Add it to the short queue. Probably doing a Puzzle game after Sports Story (if it stops glitching out on me) - and then Patrick's Parabox. Thinking of making the fishy game my Tuesday/Thursday game as that slot is open.
Spent more than a couple hours on this game today and it’s not as bad as everyone’s making it out to be. If you’re used to some jank in your indie games and you loved the first Golf Story, I’d recommend. Otherwise yeah maybe stay away. This is mostly for mini game collection lovers.
Check out my twitch or YT for vods! I’ll post them when I finish the game
Sometimes an artsy farts jam just hits way too hard to not enjoy. I usually find this stuff way too pretentious but this is bordering awesome video game music
Witnessed some NBA/Cavalier history on the 2nd day of 2023. This Cavalier team just don't quit and it's an insane inspiration. Donovan Mitchell has gotten 14 more points than Lebron or Kyrie's high score in CLE. That ridiculous clutch free throw + miss/putback possession... that's gonna be in some highlight reels for a long long time.
Not really a resolution, but I'm 30 now - I'm 3 years into being a mailman, playing less and less games and making less and less content. Seeing my parents go into retirement with no hobbies or just sitting and watching TV all day - makes me want to add some more purpose to my life before I retire in 26-30 years. This isn't really the main event, but I want to use tumblr as a dumping grounds for everything I'm consuming content wise, whether it's a cool new band, or a funny clip I heard along the day- or just a funny thought myself. I may post my own content here too, since it's technically a game I'm probably playing so It counts. I might keep it to the edited stuff if I can get to editing more often. I always missed myspace and maybe tumblr can get to that point in the future with my friends and friends' circles to where we can share what we're enjoying in life together on here.
