When I read self insert (xreader) content, I don't actually insert myself. Instead of placing myself in whatever scenario, I do one of three things:

Use an OC of mine.

Picture whatever I think the author looks like. (I'm sorry if this is weird)

Cultivate this random ass individual from my brain matter. (not an OC)

But for the life of me, I actually CAN'T insert myself into any fanfiction. Even in the overflowing drafts that I've written. I've tried, but it's like my brain physically blocks my ability to. For clarification, I'm not saying this to imply that the ability to do so is "cringe" or whatever. I'm saying this because if you, in fact, CAN. I am jealous of you. You have something I want, but can't have.

It's bad enough that I'm destined to never experience romance or sex in reality. But my own brain can't compute the fantasy of someone loving and desiring me.
