Konditori @ 33 Bussorah St I super love this place la. My love for bread/pastries has gone many levels up. Lol. The choc raspberry tart was dabomb! The choc was not too sweet, and gently bitter. There was a little rasberry filling in it too like a surprise. It'll goes well together! With some pistachio as garnishing. My favourite from that shop so far. The croissant was like eating at hotel breakfast buffet. Hehe that's what I will look for at the pastry side of hotel buffets. I should learn how to make croissants la. They have two flavours today - cheese and Black Forest. Both are equally great! The other buns (ok they have some fancy name but I forgot! Will need to look for it next time).. woohoo love the cream inside. Yummy! If it's not too expensive, I'll go often! But whatever it is, do try them! Yumz!

Kucina @ 1KM Mall I believe this is the first halal Italian restaurant in Sg. Located at basement 1 of 1KM Mall. I'm not too sure if Italian is not to my taste or the food I ordered felt plain to me. We ordered Polenta (herb fries with cream cheese dip) as appetiser. Mine was Granchio (linguine with crabmeat in cream-tomato sauce and chilli). MrF had the Ossobucco (braised veal with saffron risotto). I was hoping for truffle fries kinda taste hehe but it was rather bland (I think I needed some salt which I didn't ask for cos I wanted to taste the original taste). My pasta was also bland, wanted more of the crab taste but hmm not much. MrF's dish was good. The veal was oh so tender! Sauce and risotto went well together. I might be going through some hormonal change so my judgement could be biased. Hehe I'll give other dishes a try though next time.

The Chicken Rice Shop @ Causeway Point Woodlands Really awesome place to have a simple meal of chicken and rice. We bought the set meal which came with tofu and kueh pai tee. Simply love this place! Will be back with the parents next! InsyaAllah :)

Great That @ East Village Hmm I think rating would be 4/10 for this place? Fried rice was rather bland, the serving of honey chicken accompanying the fried rice was miserably small. Tom yum could have been better. Not enough of the sourish taste. Phad Thai was not too bad and mango sticky rice can't go wrong cos anything with mango fruit is awesome (biased, yes I know). Oh I'm not sure if they forgot to put sesame seeds on the glutinous rice or is it meant to be without the seeds? I guess we expected better quality food cos the price isn't that cheap. $10 for a plate of bland fried rice? I asked around to confirm if it's just us who didn't like the food but we have a few friends who concurred with us. I'm not too sure if the other branch might be better. Seems like a lot of hoohaa for the other branch.

Word Cafe @ Upper Thomson Road Awesome food! No words (pun intended?) to describe! I think cos it's only accessible via buses and cars, it's actually not so crowded when we went there on a Wed evening (6pm?). Wait till the Springleaf station is up (2-3 yrs later?), I suspect this cafe will be more popular. But of cos I'm just saying based on our first visit there. We'll try to check them out again on a weekend. We tried the appetisers (Three-Some), mains (Salmon Khan and Turkey Ham and Mushroom Picotta Pasta) and 2 drinks (Mango Mojito and Word Concoction). MrF and I both like the Word Concoction. A very interesting combi of plum, lemongrass and lemon with soda. Food was all well cooked and presented. We're both happy after everything and we hope to be back.

La Pastificio @ Sembawang Shopping Centre MrF and I tried lamb steak (with two very carbo sides potato salad and fries) and salmon pesto cream pasta. The steak came with a meal of home made lemon tea and mushroom soup. Overall 6/10 for lamb steak meal. Lamb is well done, has a tinge of Malay satay taste, soup taste good but somehow no wow feeling (like Toa Payoh salad bar mushroom soup, tu really wow with chunky mushrooms in it), potato salad and fries are can't go wrong kinda food. For the salmon pesto cream pasta, we gave it 4.5/10. The linguine was a bit too soggy (the Malays would call the pasta as too kembang). Salmon was fried and it kinda had a Malay taste to it too. Like ikan goreng masak kunyit or something like that. I guess we can't say it's really that bad la. Perhaps we chose the wrong dishes hehe. Probably might try again if we really really really have nowhere else to eat in Sembawang. But then again, Hei Sushi is just next door, that will win hands down? Hehe.

Richmond Station @ Bali Lane Ok lets do the review in what we like best: Mushroom and truffle fries was awesome to the max. Angel hair crab pasta was great. Richmond Bangers and potato leek mash nothing special even though it was a Chef recommendation on the menu. Lastly the drinks, we didn't read menu properly so it's our fault haha. We just saw coconut dream and fruity passion (or something like that) and we assumed it's a cold drink or ice blended. Overall 2.5/5 We still prefer Krave Cafe, hehe sorry!

MM BBQ Pan @ 46 Telok Blangah It's kinda hard to find halal steamboat in Sg (besides Seoul Garden). Boy, aren't we glad that there's MM BBQ Pan now. Used to be at Toa Payoh but now has shifted to Telok Blangah. Tried it on Sun evening (ala2 reunion dinner haha). It was a fun experience! The three of us are not big eaters so we only bought the set (which is actually for 2). Added on chicken satay and bbq prawns. Satay was great! Try it!

Burock @ 151 Yishun I was rather excited that there's finally a halal cafe in the north! However when I reached there, MrF started laughing really hard cos the "cafe" is a kedai kopi. Oh wells, whatever it is.. I was quite determined to try the food. We bought churros and roti john. Churros was good, crunchy outside with soft inside. Choc sauce was nicely done, not too watery. Went well with the churros. Roti john was such a disappointment. Not much meat in it! I expected a lot a lot of it for the price that I paid. The roti was kinda flat also. I told MrF, I think I make roti john myself better.

Curry Times @ Velocity Novena Had my solo lunch today cos fate just worked out that way. Haha. Tried Curry Times there. I think I should have obviously tried their curry but I wanted something light and still have space for desserts. They have lunch set meal promo which look good! And they give free biscuits when you make the payment at the counter, really cute Pri sch kinda biscuits with the meringue on top! Have to scoop it out the bottle yourself. Love the setting of the shop, very old school. Food's good too. The yam paste had a lot of coconut milk, could reduce it to make it great. But generally it's a good feel here! Will be back, in sha Allah

Charlie Brown Cafe @ Cineleisure Ate here with a colleague for lunch. Interesting menu, but a long wait. Can't go wrong with western food, price is decent but hmm can't say much about it. I think I should have tried their desserts. They could be more well known for their desserts? Will be back to give them another chance.

The Twelve Bakeshop @ Ion Orchard Newly halal, one of the branches of The 12 Cupcakes. Have always been a fan of their cupcakes (sorry zaman jahiliah dulu, and didn't think that cupcakes needed to be halal when we bought from 12 cupcakes hehe) Salted caramel cupcake, soft and moist cake. Yummy sweet topping. Nice to eat it at work when you're tired of facing the comp and you need a break

Krave @ Bali Lane Sorry have been neglecting this blog due to wedding, honeymoon and getting used to married life. Added on to that, been eating home cooked food more often hehe. So here's one of our rare eat out days. We tried Krave Cafe. Awesome desserts! Cempedak Creme brûlée and fried Mars bars. Not a fan of Creme brûlée but this one... I like! Fried mars bars, I love Mars so I could be biased for this dish. Anyhows, the ice cream that came with the Mars bars kinda reminded us of Toblerone nougat bits. Sounds good right? Having 2 types of chocs in one dish?? Mains, the burger patty was made into a ball. The meat wasn't dry, very nicely marinated. Spaghetti was decent (nice but not wow). Will be back! So do try ya! On a separate note, MrF and I have been quite busy with our new online business. Just a few days old but the idea has been thrown back n forth btw us for quite some time. If there's not much update here and anyone misses us.. Do check our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/sghappytogs Shop with us!

New mall new makan place! Awesome food to the max!!
Love the fries with meat sauce. Chicken nothing can go wrong.
Just a little bad side to it is the small space and small tables.
But cos the food is so super duper good, I'll be back!

Fix @ 31 Ah Hood Road
Singapore is sprouting a lot of rustic/hipster/vintage cafes recently. Good thing about some of them is that they're halal!
Here's one that we went to over the weekend at Toa Payoh. Within walking distance from Toa Payoh mrt.
Food was ok-ok. Somehow the food served wasn't hot. Lukewarm only. Made us wonder if they had all the food ready in advance. Atmosphere not too bad. Desserts were really good though.
But one thing that really stood out was.. Oh my god, service at the counter was bad. Not too sure if the girl was pmsing or what. But she was kinda hmmm rude to us. But I think it's okla, we girls were in very good moods so we just brushed her off and waited for our food.
Overall, wasn't crowded on a sun lunch. Decent place la..
